Cait didn't think modeling was for her yet became Assets' biggest and most successful int'l model. Fun reading.

Thanks for the message, Anon. I wonder if this one is also yours? 🤷🏻‍♂️
Tumblr media
I received it after I wrote ⬇️ on 25 November:
Tumblr media
Luckily for Outlander and its fans, she chose to give acting another go. 🎬 On to your link:
Tumblr media
STAR SPOTTER | Irish fashion boss tells how he discovered Caitríona Balfe packing bags in Dunnes
Derek Daniels, is celebrating 30 years of Assets Model Agency.
Caitríona Balfe, Colin Farrell and Glenda Gilson have more in common than just being Irish and familiar faces on our screens.
They were all, at one point, part of Assets Model Agency. The man who found them, Derek Daniels, is celebrating 30 years of Assets, and looking back at the many lives he helped change.
“I remember interviewing our very first ever model when she came in. It was Emer O’Reilly-Hyland, who went on to become the editor of VIP magazine,” he tells Magazine+.
The second was actor Frank Kelly’s daughter, Ruth. “After that, the numbers get a bit fuzzy,” he adds with a laugh.
Tumblr media
For Derek, it was no mistake that he wound up in the fashion business.
“I knew when I was about 11 years of age, what I was interested in was the production of fashion events and I was always mystified by models and all the rest of it and I always had a great interest in it, so when it came about later in life, it never surprised me,” he remembers.
It’s fitting, then, that he has always had a very keen eye for what will work in the fashion world and beyond. It’s that finely tuned sense that has allowed him to discover many that we now consider household names, both at home and abroad.
Tumblr media
“The people I’ve met, the people I’ve worked with… they’re all only ordinary people, who knows what they’ll be later in life?
"All you’re doing is helping them pay their way through college or whatever it is they’re doing.
"Like, Caitríona Balfe is a prime example. I mean, she was packing bags on a till next to me in Dunnes in Rathmines, she was a drama student at the time,” he says.
“When I approached her about modelling, she looked at me like I was mad.
"She went on to be the biggest Irish export as a model ever, ever, ever. I mean, Dolce and Gabbana’s muse for six years, worked all over the world, and then of course, she’s a big actress.
"She had no interest in modelling, and didn’t consider herself suitable to be a model. “But it was a pure fluke that I went into Dunnes Stores to do my shopping that day. And that’s how I found her,” he explains.
Tumblr media
Colin Farrell, too, has Derek to thank for helping his face become one everyone knows nowadays. “Colin was only a young fella and I had him in a dance group. In the same dance group at the time was Stephen Gately, who went on to be in Boyzone and Cecilia Ahern, the (former) Taoiseach’s daughter,” Derek says. They went on to be actors, singers and authors, but have a shared history thanks to the ‘face finder’.
As Derek considers three decades of success, it’s clear he’s not calling time just yet.
“I achieved everything I wanted to achieve and continue to have that hunger for it. I’m fortunate that I can count on a lot of them still as friends of mine, and indeed many of them have their own children at Assets now. That’s the biggest compliment you can get, when people will come back to you with their own kids because they trust you and know you’ll help make things become a reality for them,” he smiles.

Remember… she went on to be the biggest Irish export as a model ever, ever, ever. I mean, Dolce and Gabbana’s muse for six years, worked all over the world, and then of course, she’s a big actress. She had no interest in modelling, and didn’t consider herself suitable to be a model. But it was a pure fluke that I went into Dunnes Stores to do my shopping that day. And that’s how I found her. — Derek Daniels

"New Turkey" Introductory Reader
I did so much research for my paper that the final product barely scratched the surface of what I've read or looked up in the course of writing it. As such, I feel like the scope of my paper is very basic compared to the depth of the issue. (And considering how quickly I wrote it, frankly I'm not that sure of its actual writing quality.)
My research topic was current Turkish politics, centering on recent policies of President Erdogan and his party, the AKP, who have dominated the country since the mid-2000s. In particular I wanted to look into the roots of, and meaning behind a sort of party motto/discourse/policy umbrella which started in 2014 when Erdogan became president and announced the arrival of a "New Turkey."
This motto has frequently been compared to "Make America Great Again," and is just as bold and lacking in specific meaning. It is also the mission statement behind much of what's happening in Turkey's social and political climate right now, so for anyone interested in what's been going on in Turkey in the recent past, or curious about where the country's current direction is leading, the "New Turkey" idea is central to everything.
Rather than just delete all my references I thought I would share them here for anyone who's interested. Consider this a bit of "New Turkey" intro. It includes most of what I used in my bibliography and some other sources I looked at but didn't get to include.
I'm including some newspaper articles here-- these are all very introductory-- they're helpful for people with no background at all on Turkey, as well as for anyone who's interested and doesn't want to go through an entire paper's worth of books and articles. All these should be accessible for most people, I think.
“Erdogan Elected Turkey’s President, Promises ‘New Era.’”
"21st Century Will Be the Century of Türkiye: Erdoğan."
"Recep Tayyip Erdogan Sworn in as Turkish President; Swearing-in Ceremony Caps Monthslong Campaign."
"Erdoğan's split personality: the reformer v the tyrant"
"Turkey, lavish new presidential palace proves divisive."
"Turkey Rages at Shoddy Construction of 'Earthquake-Proof' Homes."
(Also looking up information on the Gezi Park protests from 2013 or Fethullah Gülen and his movement will be helpful for newbies as well.)
Behind the cut is all the more scholarly stuff. I've included entries in citation form so all the info you could need is there; I've also included links to everything but I don't know how many will be accessible everywhere, or to people without accounts, or even usable (I had a couple links stop working during the process of writing this.) Hopefully even if you can't access them all through the links provided, looking up the article information or even reaching out to the author will get you access. Happy reading!

The fans of Emma Roberts are never going to acknowledge the actual facts of what happened because it ruins the image of the woman they idolize and who they thought she is. The fact that the arrest was made because there were witnesses that gave statements to the police in addition to the statements from Evan and Emma that were given separately is something that refutes the claims her fans make about mutual abuse or Emma defending herself so they refuse to address it and will continue to spread lies. Not only did the police take statements from Evan, Emma, and witnesses, but they also examined the injuries on both Emma and Evan (and Evan had way more serious injuries) and with all of the evidence and info made the decision to arrest Emma. Rather than take this information in and reexamine whether Emma is someone they should really support, her fans choose to attack her victim and spread misinformation and lies. They ask for articles that state that emma was the aggressor ( I'll link one here for you all :) https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/07/17/emma-roberts-arrested-attack-boyfriend-evan-peters_n_3608932.html) but they can't give an article that states that Evan says he was abusive too nor can they give a link to the police report that some of them like to bring up. Because those things don't actually exist. They are lies. But Emma being abusive to the point where she got arrested is a fact that cannot be changed or rewritten.
Hi, I just wrote a really long message about Emma and also wanted to provide this article which reiterates that she was arrested because of witness statements and that the police did examine injuries on both Emma and Evan yet they arrested her. https://www.eonline.com/news/439736/emma-roberts-arrested-after-fight-with-boyfriend-evan-peters
sorry for the long rant but I am so over the lies and misinformation.
-
no need to apologize, you're absolutely right. emma's morally bankrupt minions lie when facts are readily available. they add in ''details'' that never happened and basically rewrite the history of that night to paint emma as the victim, or at least to make evan an equally guilty party, when there is no proof of this whatsoever. also, if you look at the huffington post article, it literally links you to the TMZ post which states:
Sources close to Emma tell TMZ ... Emma and Evan were hitting each other and she was arrested because he had obvious physical injuries. The sources deny Emma bit Evan.
-
the only, ONLY source that states evan and emma were ''hitting each other'' was from someone on EMMA's team. aka, a PR person trying to save face for their client. not an eye-witness account from that night, not an objective bystander at all. period. in fact, the fight took place in a hotel room in the wee hours of the early morning - who the hell do they think was visually witnessing emma and evan fighting? as the huffpost article states, they were OVERHEARD fighting. i know emma and her minions are dumb, but just a quick refresher: you hear with your ears, and you see with your eyes. i guess it would help if you had a brain somewhere beyond that but i can't help them there. so nobody saw evan pimp slapping emma and told the police who turned a blind eye and arrested her instead of him. just a personal anecdote but i find it worth sharing: i had a next door neighbor in my apartment several years back who was being physically attacked by her boyfriend, and it was not hard to guess who the aggressor was based on the words exchanged.
so that leaves us with this: hotel guests heard a fight taking place in emma and evan's room. police were called, they came into said hotel room, spoke to them, and i'm sure also interviewed the guests surrounding them. police visually observed that evan was the only one who had physical injuries indicative of being attacked and determined emma to be the aggressor. due to this, she was arrested and her saving grace was evan not pressing charges against her.

I'm trying to organize the library on my kobo and running into the issue of almost everything I want to read, aside from manga, going into the same folder, "essays", which is not much better than having no folders at all.
At first I separated between "history", "political essay", "critique", "memoirs", "anthropology", but unsurprisingly these categories aren't exclusive and intersect more often than not.
On calibre this isn't an issue because I can actually group things by tags, which are just descriptive, but if I tried to apply them to a folder structure everything would just end up having a bunch of clones. So like, say, the books about the history of hentai manga, which is essentially literary critique, and stuff by David Graeber are in the same folder.
You could in theory solve this by implementing a similar system as calibre's, where each individual book has some metadata linking it to a class, and then you can browse instances of that class without affecting their actual physical location in the file system. Which is essentially identical to itunes's, it's what a library software should do, be it music, pictures, or books.
And I think kobo's default interface does this, to some limited extent, but it also does silly things like enforcing DRM and treating PDFs as second class (they are, which is why the lack of tools to make reading them less of a chore is annoying) — circumventing this is thankfully much easier than on kindle, where you have to jailbreak it first, on kobo you just install the dependencies so it knows how to launch different software. The one that I use, koreader, on the other hand, only allows a very strict file system hierarchy for organizing books, which is completely inapt for shit like this. It's kinda mindblowing because it blows kobo's interface out of the water in every other way, but that, and being a bit ugly, you could say it has a more retro ui, give it a completely different feel, even though they're essentially running on the same underlying Linux OS.
This is a quirk that obviously annoys me but it also gives me deeper appreciation for why the whole interface is like that, not trying to hide the fact ebooks are nothing more than self-describing HTML files. Like I'm not "borrowing a license to read these documents", which is essentially what e-readers do nowadays, keep a whole database of keys to unencrypt a bunch of zip archives (that would be unmanageable without that layer of abstraction), these are literally just little files on my computer which I can move around as I wish.

Hi! so I have some questions based on operating a blog (i’m new and i have no clue what to do… sorry)
what would you recommend putting on a pinned post? how do you put links of other posts (like stories/hcs/etc) onto another post like for a master list? when you start a post for hcs/oneshots do you do it in drafts or on another app and copy and paste it? i’m sorry if this is a lot to ask :,)
Also! i love your blog sm! your writing is so good!!
Hello there! No apologies necessary! Happy to answer any and all questions about this sort of thing 🙂
I'll answer your questions in reverse order. So, starting with drafting posts... I personally have always used Word or Pages when I write (and I was cool with using Google Docs in college as well). And honestly, I would recommend others do the same, mainly to avoid issues with Tumblr drafts not always saving properly. There is no worse feeling than losing all your hard work and not being able to recover it! Tumblr's post editor is just, not the greatest, to put it politely. It's glitchy, difficult to format certain things, and way too easy to mess something up or accidentally delete it altogether. For peace of mind, draft your stuff in a more reliable app and then copy over when you're ready to actually post.
Links... The one thing I'll say in Tumblr's defense is it does have a fairly easy way to link to other posts.* You don't need to know html or coding or anything. I'll explain as a step-by-step:
Copy the url of the post you want to link to. Best way is to click the three dots in the top right corner of the post and then "Copy Link." You can do this part on mobile or a web browser.
Create or edit the post you want to contain the link. Highlight the words you want (ex: Read here!) and a little bar of options will pop up (below the color options on mobile, above the highlighted words on the web). Click the symbol that looks like a chain, then paste the url you previously copied into the designated area. That's it!
For a post with multiple links (like a masterlist), you need to do it on a web browser. Keep the post you're creating up on one browser tab, and then open additional tabs to grab the links to your other posts for copying.
And then one note of caution (because even though it's easy, it's not perfect lol): If you edit a post with links it in, like changing the wording or moving things around, the links will sometimes "break." So I usually open two tabs, one with the post in its original format, and one where I'm editing it, and I can grab from the original if I accidentally mess it up.
*These instructions are for adding links in a post. If you want to set up links in your blog's bio/description section (like in mine), then you do need to use some basic html codes. I referenced this post when I set mine up.
And then finally, pinned posts... this is really up to you. Personally, I think you can't go wrong with some kind of a masterlist, or a "welcome" type post that includes a link to a masterlist. As a reader, whenever I find a new writer I like, I want to be able to see their bibliography, to see a list of all the other stories and things they've created. It helps me get to know them, their style, their fandom preferences, etc. And if I ever lose it or want to go back to it later, it's easy enough to just pull up their blog without having to scroll or search their whole posting history.
But it really depends on what you want visitors to your blog (and yourself!) to see first. Is there an issue/take/sentiment you're especially passionate about? Pin it. Are you running some kind of a game or focusing your writing on a particular prompt list? Pin it. Is there one story you are really proud of? Pin it. And the best part, you can change your mind and pin something else later. I currently have pinned an "I'm back!" post after I went MIA for a bit last year, because idk, I figured that was important for people to see. But I'm probably going to change it back to my masterlist now that it's been a while and I miss seeing that dumb meme I edited for it 😂
I hope I answered your questions and explained everything well! Again, happy to answer anything along these lines! I know starting out can be overwhelming, but a lot of it becomes second nature the more you play around and take note of what other blogs are doing. Then your focus can be on just having fun with your writing!

How to Use a Computer, Part 4: How to Use Mozilla Firefox
Firefox is presently the only major web browser that isn’t controlled by Google, so it’s my preferred browser as someone who hates giant multinational corporations that control everything.
In terms of general use, it’s not all that different from other web browsers-- type address or search term in search bar, press enter, click to go, that sort of thing.
Importing data from other browsers. The big thing people worry about when it comes to switching browsers is “will I be able to save my bookmarks, saved logins, and open tabs?” To do this in Firefox, open a Firefox browser window and either press ALT on the keyboard, or right-click in the space where the tabs show up and select “Menu bar”. Under File, select “Import from another browser”, then find the name of the browser you want to import from and select Next to choose what data you want imported; Cookies, Browsing history, Saved passwords, and Favourites.
Saved. That was easy. Now you can uninstall Chrome without remorse.
Add-ons and Extensions. You’ve got to use Add-ons and Extensions to get the full experience. All of the add-ons available from Mozilla’s website are free and most will safeguard your personal data. If you’re familiar with Google Chrome extensions, then there won’t be a learning curve.
In a Firefox browser window, type
about:addons
into the search bar. This will open your add-ons settings menu from where you can control, update, and remove add-ons that you have installed, and search for new add-ons. At the very bottom of the page is a button marked “Find more add-ons”, which will take you to Mozilla’s Firefox Browser Add-ons homepage. Have a look around, see what looks interesting, give it a go. Most add-ons won’t require you to restart Firefox, but if they do, the browser will save your history and any website logins to restore your session.
There are a few add-ons I would recommend installing immediately after setting up Firefox for the first time, all are related to privacy (Firefox is already the most secure browser in the world, these just plug any holes that might show up later).
uBlock Origin. This privacy multi-tool blocks trackers, cookies, and even advertising! If you’ve ever wanted to experience an ad-free YouTube, uBO is for you. uBO will also prevent content networks from tracking you across the internet. More to that point...
LocalCDN. It’s Decentraleyes on steroids. Its sole focus is emulating corporate content delivery networks (CDNs) without actually accessing them, adding an extra layer of privacy as most CDNs are able to personally identify your computer based upon the content it requests. This reduces their ability to profit off your existence while still allowing you to use the internet as normal. It’s a large install-- 17 GB-- because it doesn’t rely on offsite resources to do its job. That’s why it’s called “Local” CDN. Everything is carried out on your computer, and nowhere else.
Privacy Badger. Another trackware blocker, made by the Electronic Frontier Foundation. This one is different from uBO in that it can pick up on new trackers that people who make uBO lists may not know about yet, by analysing the behaviour of the website and any scripts it runs. Basically, it does what trackers do, but it does it to the tracker instead of the user. This next one isn’t related to privacy, but...
SingleFile. Are you given to datahoarding? Good on you! So am I. If you want to hoard webpages, SingleFile can condense a webpage into a single HTML document for easy storage.
DownThemAll. If you’re not interested in downloading the webpage, just the media on the page, DownThemAll can do that. Either you can tell DTA the kinds of files you want to nick from a page, or you can create a download queue by giving DTA the links to things you want to download.
Now, if you’re serious about privacy, all of this can take you pretty far, but, it won’t protect you against thieves who just straight up steal your computer. As a certifiable paranoid freak, I’m aware that I live in a world full of people who might just walk right up and whisk my laptop away while I’m drinking my coffee. You really should consider not leaving tabs open or staying logged in across multiple sessions. I know there are certain extenuating circumstances; like work or school assignments; but for just general use, consider changing the settings to make Firefox delete your cache automatically when you close the browser.
It’s selective; you can tell it what data to delete and what to preserve; but at the very least allow Firefox to log you out of websites when you close it.
“Okay, fine, shut up and tell me how.” In the search bar type...
about:preferences
...and navigate to the “Privacy & Security” tab, then scroll down to “Cookies and Site Data” and check the box that says “Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed“. If you have a website that you want exempted from this rule, such as Tumblr for instance, click “Manage exceptions” and enter Tumblr’s URL into the text line, and click “Allow”. If you change your mind later, you can delete it from the list.
Next, scroll down to “History” and change it to “Use custom settings for history”. If you want to stay logged into websites, retain content settings, or other things that are stored in local cookies instead of on the host server, click “Settings” next to “Clear History when Firefox Closes”, and check or uncheck the boxes next to the desired items.
Firefox has loads of built-in customisation options, such as font overrides, light mode and dark mode, and themes, so have a look around. For right now though, that’s it. Tune in next time when we talk about how to install game software from disc media and the basics of how to install game mods.

Harper Watters Pays Tribute to His Black Ballet Ancestors Harper Watters, the first queer Black First Soloist for the Houston Ballet and a TikTok starlet who is redefining ballet’s social media presence, pays homage to his dancer ancestors this Black History Month. Last year, he recreated iconic poses from transgender dancer Ashton Edwards, Matthew Rushing, "Godfather of Vogue'' Willi Ninja and Bill T. Jones. This February, he's teamed up with photographer Maxwell Poth to reimagine photographer Jack Mitchell's legendary shots of the Dance Theatre of Harlem from the '70s and '80s.Watters discovered Mitchell’s photographs as he explored the deep waters of the internet's annals of documented Black dancers, searching for inspiration for his annual BHM tribute series. “I want this to be a love letter and thank you note to the dancers in [Jack Mitchell’s photographs] because I stand on their shoulders,” Watters tells PAPER. Collaborating with photographer Maxwell Poth, the two recreated some of Mitchell’s most iconic works in a powerful portrait series.Below, witness the side-by-side recreations made by Poth and Watters as well as a PAPER behind-the-scenes chat with Watters about his self-reflective journey into the archives to honor Black dancers. How did you and Maxwell link up for this project?I messaged him and said: “PLEASE HELP MY VISION COME TO LIFE!" Without any hesitation, he was on board. I’m lucky to know Maxwell, beyond him being an incredible photographer, as a friend. One who I met many years ago, galavanting around WeHo. It’s always fun to be able to make art with creatives, but when they’re your friends it’s even more special. Why did you think Maxwell would be the right photographer for this? Maxwell has such an incredible eye and talent for capturing the body and capturing the body in movement. His work never feels one-dimensional. There is a calmness, attention to detail, and simplicity throughout his work that always makes for a strikingly beautiful finished project. He also is dedicated to highlighting queer people and their stories. So his artistic voice and commitment to working with marginalized subjects made him an obvious choice. What drew you to Jack Mitchell’s photos for this year's edition? I discovered the work of Jack Mitchell while researching for a previous series I did on IG Reels for Black History Month. The series involved me dancing into the images of black dancers who I work with or who inspired me along my journey. This year I wanted to challenge myself to dig deeper and discover more artists who I knew less about but deserved to have their flowers. This led me to Jack Mitchell and his series of photographs for the Dance Theater of Harlem. Like Maxwell, his work captured the physicality of the male dancers so beautifully. They were so regal and stoic, I was blown away by the poses Jack was able to capture. There is this indescribable feeling that happens in dance when you just feel compelled to move, whether it be the music, the choreography or your partner. I felt that with Jack's photographs and knew I wanted to recreate them and learn more about the dancers in the images. Did you face any challenges with this shoot, either in conception or in execution? I think the only challenge I faced was realizing how talented the Dance Theater of Harlem dancers were, because despite making the poses look so effortless, they were in fact super challenging. Maxwell was able to recreate the lighting so well, and I was impressed with how he could almost sculpt me into positions by correcting the angles of my limbs to replicate the images perfectly. My hope was to carry their energy through Maxwell's eyes and my body. What did you hope to highlight in recreating these photos? I want this to be a love letter and thank you note to the dancers in the original images because I stand on their shoulders, they paved the way for me to be able to dance the way I am today. I wanted to shed light on their careers and their accolades. I had a few dancers to look up to when I was starting out, but I truly lacked the visibility and knowledge of dancers like me, which forced me to believe I wasn’t meant to be a dancer. These dancers are my fuel to keep on dancing and pushing myself to be better. What is the through-line between your work and the Dance Theatre of Harlem dancers' work? Black dancers are beautiful. Black dancers are powerful. Black dancers matter.Photo by Maxwell Poth https://www.papermag.com/harper-waters-maxwell-poth-bhm-2659447847.html

LogGit
Using Git to distribute digital media.
Right off the bat I want to set expectations: I know almost nothing about programming or dev work, all I can really do is html, and if I want to make myself hate the world, I can do some css. So essentially I format documents. That said, I love offline-first, p2p, smallnet, and all that good stuff.
So when I saw Solderpunk's article on using Git for p2p distribution (https://portal.mozz.us/gemini/zaibatsu.circumlunar.space/~solderpunk/gemlog/low-budget-p2p-content-distribution-with-git.gmi) and then saw Degauss's project gwit (https://sr.ht/~ivilata/gwit/) that was inspired by it, I wanted to help. But I quickly realized there wasn't much I could do to help build out gwit, quick look at what Degauss was doing, and realized it was above my head.
Decided to go in a different direction, lean on my strengths as an artist, and just give the idea (of using Git to publish stuff) a name and an image.
Started with the name, after a few different iterations, settled on LogGit. Wanted the name to express the intention of using 'Git' as a 'log' to track changes to files over time, thus allowing for changeable content.
Then the image, drew inspiration from the Git logo, but kept it simple and small (32x32 pixels):
Tumblr media
And then the idea: use Git to distribute stuff.
For anyone who is comfortable with computers and has some basic understanding of Git, we can start doing this now.
I'm testing out the idea in my free time, using a Git gui on my computer, and cloning static sites whose author's have made their Git repo public (many thanks to 100r.com and j3s.sh to making their repos easy to find). I also added the LogGit image and the link to clone from the public repo for my personal site and a few other projects I work on.
Cool thing I've found already, is that rss is no longer needed, whenever a change gets made to a site, I can pull the changes, look in the Git history, and see what was added or deleted.
What I like about this, is that nothing needs to be built, nothing major needs to change, just need to publish a link to clone the repo.
I also like that you can use the infrastructure of the enemy to publish.
Go ahead and host the repo on Github or any other major git forge, can typically do it for free, but the original always remains on your device, and you can move it elsewhere whenever you want, and leave your new location as your last commit. Next level would be to self-host it on a Forgejo/Gitea/whatever instance, or what I haven't tried out yet (but plan to soon) is host it yourself on Tor and keep things really sneaky.
I threw together a basic site with the info here: https://davidbaunach.github.io/LogGit/ but you can also LogGit here: https://techpriesthub.xyz/forgejo/terrantechpriest/LogGit.git to get the most up-to-date version (I won't be adding updates to the Gihub version unless they become necessary).
Lastly, here's the repo where I'm trying stuff out, so far, have just been messing around with the idea of blogging, seeing how easy it would be for people to comment on posts via pull request: https://techpriesthub.xyz/forgejo/terrantechpriest/LogGit_stuff.git Probably will test stuff out there, and if it seems promising, move it over to Github so it will be easier for others to interact.

yeah that's totally fine, i'll follow you back now as well! i hope you don't mind that i post about a lot of things other than disney movies haha. though my url happens to be the name of a character from twisted wonderland, a disney game that i like a lot. when you mentioned hunchback of notre dame being one of your favorite disney movies, i thought about how twisted wonderland actually has references to HoND in it--but sadly, nothing tarzan related. i found out about what mark henn said from this link if you'd like to read it, there's some additional info in here as well and it's all a bit sad to hear, but really interesting: https://www.cartoonbrew.com/studios/retired-disney-legend-mark-henn-work-had-been-more-meaningful-236985.html
i agree that disney songs definitely shouldn't be written with the intention that people will hear them before seeing the movie! i know some people do like to listen to the soundtracks of new disney movies before they see them, but i've actually always tried my best not to do that or hear any of the songs ahead of time because i prefer being surprised by them. so when i saw wish, all i'd heard was the snippet of "this wish" that was played in the trailers, and during the scene where at all costs played i was honestly so confused about the context of it that it was a little distracting. disney music should immerse you in the story and tell you something about the characters, not distract you because the situation the song is being used for doesn't seem to make sense...
oh yeah, i've heard that about the atlantis book! there's a blog on wordpress i found recently who did really detailed reviews of the different disney art books and they mentioned all of that about the atlantis one. i agree it's a huge shame, that movie seems to have such a fascinating world and i'd love to be able to learn more about it. another thing that disappoints me is there being no book for the emperor's new groove at all, though on the bright side at least the documentary for that movie is available online.
oh no, that must be so frustrating to keep missing out on getting to see the tarzan broadway show! i hope you get a chance to see it someday, and that you enjoy it when you do. i'll definitely have to find the time one of these days to at least listen to the cast recording myself. it's so interesting that it's popular in germany but not here... i wonder why that could be. i love that jane gets her own song, though. she's my favorite character from the movie (though of course i also love tarzan himself!) and i always thought it would be nice to have just a bit more insight into what she's thinking and feeling.
i remember reading that with rafiki, the director wanted to gender-swap him as well as give nala more focus because she thought the movie didn't have a strong enough leading female role. so i really do wonder why they'd change terk back into a guy, because something i always liked about the movie is the variety of different female characters in the movie between her, jane, and kala! and terk is really cool and unique for how she ended up breaking gender roles, but then you lose that element in the broadway show. if you do find anything about why they made that change i'd love to know.
No worries, mine is kind of a mix of Disney and cats, with random other stuff I like thrown in. Thanks for following back!
Ooo, I'd heard of Twisted Wonderland, but never really looked into it. Will have to check it out!
Just read that article, and wow, that is so sad! I can't imagine how hard it must've been to see things go downhill like that, a having his ideas taken like that?! Poor guy.
I think Disney needs to slow down a moment and and look into their own history to see what they're supposed to be about. Thinking about how they try to put out so much so fast, and how they seem more invested in their acquired properties than original ideas. How important quality was to Walt, to the point that he nearly bankrupted the company on several occasions just for the sake of quality. Now it's all about the money… making money for the shareholders is far more important to them that making something they can actually be proud of.
That sounds like a really interesting blog! I think they kind of fell away from art books (and other merch in general) as the movies began "under performing". Such a shame because the early 2000s had such incredible and daring movies, and they basically got swept under the carpet.
Thank you! Someday I'll get to see it. If you get the chance to listen to the cast recording, please let me know what you think! I was talking to a friend in Germany, and she said the country just seems to like Tarzan in general, so maybe it's just a love of the character in any form that made it work there. I'm with you on Jane. I would have been so sad if she didn't get one. She actually has a song to herself, the duet with Tarzan, and a duet with Porter!
Kerchak also got his own song (as well as a duet with Kala). They really expanded Kerchak's character and I absolutely love them for that. While you understand his motives in the movie, they dig deeper in the musical, and make him a more rounded and sympathetic character.
That makes sense about Rafiki and expanding Nala (especially given lions are actually matriarchal). I'll have to dig out my Tarzan Broadway book and see if it says anything about Terk. I'm guessing because they took away Tantor and they figure people would be more able to accept Tarzan having a male friend.

The beauty of Hyperlinks
Day 54 - Dec 29th, 12.023
If you read any of my posts here on Tumblr, which are mostly these daily journal entries, you probably noticed something that always appears in them: Hyperlinks, most of them in any new term, brand, software, product, etc. And maybe, you thought, "why? Why so many links?", maybe even "is this a marketing strategy? Are you sponsored in some way?", and maybe if you have a similar mind to my "what are links anyway? Where they came from?". So I'm here to [try] to explain them all! Under 2 to 3 hours before the deadline of this blog post passes!
<\h2>A brief history of the World Wide Web</h2>
<p>The start of the World Wide Web was invented by English computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee, while working at CERN in 1989, because of the frustration of how user unfriendly the Internet was at the time. In 1989, the Internet was in its early stages, compared to now at least, in summary, most of the content that you accessed was using a terminal, commands, etc. there wasn't a "web browser", you needed to directly connect to a server if you wanted to get any time of file, information, and scientific researches (which was the main use of the Internet at the time). And also, you needed to search that file in a file system tree most of the time, relying on tagged files with keywords.<p/>
<p>Because of this unfriendly "interface" at the time, Lee created a new system/protocol, a new information system, called World Wide Web, and hosted said system on his own computer which his turned into a server. The WWW is mainly composed of two things:<p/>
<ul>
<li>Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP): the protocol built on top of the Internet's protocols, made for accessing this new way of sharing and consuming information;<li/>
Hypertext Markup Language (HTML): the markup language made to format and show text files similarly to ones for documentation and research. These files are organized in paragraphs, headers, etc. and most importantly of all: hyperlinks, small sections of texts which can embed URLs and provide immediate access to other HTML files / web pages. All said files and pages, could be viewed on a web browser, where the file would be formatted following its markup.<li/>
<p>And, as time passes, other technologies such as Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), for styling and "decorating" HTML documents; and scripting languages such as JavaScript, for adding interactivity to web pages and making our lives miserable, were created and are what create the Web as we know today. Everything because e scientist needed to share and access research papers and could bother to write ssh user@domain; ls -a ~/Documents | grep file in his fucking terminal, but at least, we know have Hyperlinks, something which I feel is underrated a lot of the times when using the World Wide Web.<p/>
The Wikipedia rabbit hole
If you are reading this until this point, and even more, if you're someone who uses Tumblr, you probably access Wikipedia a lot of times to find brief explanations for things you don't know, or even just to pass the time when you are low on internet. And, personally, I think that one of the best things about Wikipedia is how it's links everything, every term, topic and word with can be expanded upon, with hyperlinks. Every page has at least one link connecting it to another on the topic, and every single time, I at least hover each link to know what it's about, and probably ctrl+click to open it on a new tab to read it later, I think there's something special in that.
A lot of times you probably just end up lost, you entered on a page about JavaScript, and now is on the page about World War One for some reason. But most often than not, you end up learning something new, extended your knowledge about one topic, or even entered on a wiki about a topic you didn't even thought existed. Just by clicking hyperlinks one after another, going deeper in this network of interconnected files.
And you probably already know, but this is such a common thing when using Wikipedia, that a game was created, where you try to go from one page to another just using the links in the wiki, finding your way, trying to connect different topics.
Now think this effect, on the entire Internet.
The World Wide Web rabbit hole
To explain this, I think it's better with an example.
I had the idea of this post because of something that happened to me recently while procrastinating working on a Minecraft mod pack that I were creating for me (yes, somehow we are here now, but stay with me!). While creating packs, nowadays, I use a platform called Modrinth, where I can search mods, textures, yadda yadda... and a lot of times I try to just scroll through the list, trying to find new mods, something interesting, if maybe there's something useful that I can use that I can use.
While doing my "research", I found a mod called SplashFox, a simple and cute one that just adds a bouncy "blobfox" on the game's loading screen. I had already seen about this collection of emojis called "blobfox", but because it was hyperlinked in the mod's page, I clicked just to figure it out and see even if maybe I could use it in some project in the future as a custom emoji set for an application and things like that. The link navigated me to the emojis' author's personal website/portfolio's page about the collection. Quite a cool and beautiful website, not gonna lie.
The page had a bunch of others emoji collections, which I quite liked, and maybe I will use them in the future (all of them are licensed under an Open Source or Creative Commons license). Nonetheless, out of curiosity, I started to navigate the site and just go around seeing what it had.
The home page, very cozy... A work-in-progress "about me" page... Vector arts of dragons, the author is really talented... A notebook being worked on also... Bookmarks? Oh, "Things I found from anywhere on the internet", interesting...
And then, I found two things which stood out for me:
It had a bookmark about a microblogging platform called Firefish, one that it's connected to the Fediverse/ActivityPub protocol, so things like Mastodon, Pixelfed, etc. are all connected... and it is a fucking beautiful platform, with 4,000 users on it's main server, how the fuck I never heard of it?! I saved/bookmarked it right there, because no fucking way I will remember where to find it out of nowhere;
After that, I returned to the portfolio to see if I found something more on it. And the other bookmark that I found was a blog post/article: The peculiar case of Japaneses web design... I read all of it, right there at the moment, on one go, "out of curiosity".
I found, at least, two "interest gems", because I was searching a Minecraft mod... and one of the ones that I found, was a silly little modification about a blobby fox bouncing on the loading screen, which just happened to have a hyperlink.
That's the thing that I like to do when browsing the Web, and that's why I like to put hyperlinks on my blog posts. Because maybe, when someone read them and click on one of the links, they find a new interesting thing to learn, save, and even maybe, use in the future. That's the reason the World Wide Web was created, so always remember to put that <a> tag on your HTML, []() on your Markdown, or even, [[]] on that Wikitext page that you're creating or editing, and share new things to the world with a simple URL.

How We Made the Internet - by NationSquid This video really helped me to remember the history of the Internet, and of the World Wide Web for creating this blog entry. I really would recommend giving it a watch if you want more details and if you want to know more about how the Internet itself was created.

What is affiliate marketing, and how can I be an Affiliate marketer?
There are a million ways an individual can make money online. Countless people have turned to the World Wide Web looking for an excellent money-making opportunity they can accomplish from the comfort of their own homes. It may seem daunting at first, but you can make money online if you learn, duplicate, and, most importantly, have the determination just to start.
So what is affiliate marketing?
Affiliate marketing is performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts. Affiliates promote a business through their networks, websites, or social media channels. They are then given a unique link or code to share and are paid a commission for any resulting sales.
Affiliate marketing is one of the most original ways to supplement or even replace your income through online affiliate programs. Online affiliate programs first sprang up in 1996 when Amazon.com started paying websites for referring customers to their site. In 2023, online affiliate programs are a mainstay in the e-commerce world. Even Fortune 500 companies such as Dell, Walmart, and Apple have adopted the online affiliate program marketing module.
Online affiliate programs provide home business professionals and online entrepreneurs with risk-free advertising to generate revenue from their websites. Affiliate marketing has become an increasingly popular home-based business opportunity because:
It requires no production costs.
Low start-up costs.
Lo employees required.
No inventory.
No order processing.
No shipping.
No customer service.
Minimal risk.
In most cases, you do not even need to operate a website or know any HTML to make money with online affiliate programs.
According to  Click Z News, eBay 2005 spent over $1.3 million to pay its affiliates as commissions, the most significant amount yet in their online affiliate program's history. Their top 25 affiliates averaged over $100,000 per month each, and the top 100 affiliates earn almost $25,000 each per month. With these numbers buzzing around the Internet, it's no wonder affiliate marketing is quickly becoming the number one money-making opportunity online. There are thousands of people just like you making a very handsome living from selling other people's products online.
As we all know, there are NO get-rich-quick programs online or offline. Like any business making money with affiliate programs takes work, dedication, and education.
Tumblr media
To become an affiliate marketer, you can follow these steps:
Ø  Choose a niche: Pick a product or service that you are passionate about and have knowledge of.
Ø  Research and find affiliate programs: Search for companies that provide affiliate programs in your chosen niche. Various companies have affiliate programs on their website, or you can search for them on affiliate networks like ShareASale, Commission Junction, Clickbank, and Amazon Associates.
Ø  Apply to the program: Once you find a program that you want to join, apply to become an affiliate by filling out the application form. The company will then review your application and let you know if you have been accepted.
Ø  Promote the product or service: Once you are accepted as an affiliate, you will be given a unique link or code to share. Use this link to promote the product or service on your website, social media, or personal network.
Ø  Track your performance and optimize: Keep track of your affiliate sales and conversion rates. Use this data to optimize your marketing efforts and improve your performance.
Ø  Get paid: Once you make a sale through your affiliate link, you will be paid a commission by the company. The commission rate and payment schedule will vary depending on the company and program you are affiliated with.
Please note:  Becoming an  affiliate marketer requires time and effort, but I can assure it is a great way to make money while promoting products or services that you like.

How do you Feel about It.
These popular apps are developed specifically for dating and dating only, while Facebook is not. Although individual messages are often short and messy, conversations are typically held over multiple messages in a short time period. If you decide to meet in person after a period of international dating and getting to know each other, there’s no need to break the bank because air travel has never been more affordable or accessible than now. I'm trying right now. Mother Theresa said, "Love is a fruit, in season at all times and within the reach of every hand." Passionfruit, though originally named for the passion of Jesus, is inextricably now linked to the more romantic kind of passion, while fruits like strawberries, cherries and figs are considered aphrodisiacs that can inspire love or make it feel more intense and vibrant. Some are full of passion but fleeting, others are kind of sweet and low key.
I kind of prefer just being alone. Yes. To be honest, this is kind of my fantasy life. HTML spec builds on DOM spec, but yes. Don’t date your supervisor or someone who reports to you. It looks like having applications that don’t require an internet connection to work. Don’t include your surname or any other identifying information such as your place of work either in your profile or when you first make contact. I tried but it didn't work so well. Actually, it worked out really well. Your love isn't the same from one person tt he next, and the way other people love you is different as well. נערות ליווי בקריות When one has put that distinction aside, it becomes clear that one should strive for consistency in the values they bring to bear across all aspects of an endeavour. Somehow things fizzle out before that, they stop calling (or you stop answering) and there you go, back to square one.
When you can't stop thinking about and needing that other person, you're in love. Church must respond to the challenge of those who want it to stop the process, who would want us to show that the Church fears the science. I'm more into men who like to stay in and play video games with me. And now, more than ever, people are becoming more connected with technology as a means of forming and establishing relationships. Here ID and password are checked, and the screen goes blank except for the cursor and a "?" symbol. Strauss agrees, saying you shouldn't "pretend to have a friendship" when you are interested in something more. More often than not, people can lose their sense of self and identity by being in relationships, forming their identity and perception of self around their partner. You can review our refund policies here. Where can I meet Christian singles online?
Most of the minerals in rocks can be dissolved in a day or so at a temperature near 100 °C (212 °F). Argue with them, day and night! I love the idea of a blind date. I love everyone and everything! Fruit and love have a very long and interesting history together. Fruit is delicious, and it's good for you, too, just like love. Guess it depends on how much I like my in-laws. “You have to show as much as possible the essence of the person,” he says. Tomato, which is not a fruit, I don't care what anyone says. Be sure your date knows you've enjoyed her company and she'll leave feeling good about it. You can share details of a date - with your live location - via a friend on Facebook Messenger, to ensure you feel safer on a date. It means that potassium can get into minerals quite easily, but argon can’t.

Disney would have never made them canon anyway, this is extreme.
https://www.crazydaysandnights.net/2021/07/blind-items-revealed-2_01246612776.html?m=1
ANOOOOON😂😂😂!!!!! Thank you so much!!! This is genuinely one of the funniest asks I have received ever.
So you are saying Sambucky will never be made canon by Disney because “Anthony Mackie said he would walk away if they did".
And your source is a shady gossip website, with an ending in dot net with just one line, one name, no source, no interviews nothing?
I screenshot it in case anybody want to see it, just don’t click on the link, as i said it is shady so you never know.
Tumblr media
I'm really worried about you Anon.
You are telling me the only reason Disney, a company with a history of being homophobic , and having absolutely no representation whatsoever in ANY of their blockbusters is because Anthony Mackie is against it? That is the only reason? Really? What was the reason then for every other Disney movie ever made then?
And are you talking about Anthony Mackie, the man who played at least 2 gay characters
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And also kissed another man on screen
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That Anthony?
You're telling me Anthony, would walk away from a multi million dollar contract, when he didn't walk away from movies that were paying him peanuts compared with what he earns now?? And even seeked out some of those roles?
Anon, please please tell me you were bored and wanted to waste my time because at least this would explain that.
