I can't stop thinking about how funny it is that Aang had all this secret lore on Zuko because of the Blue Spirit that he just, didn't share with the Gaang. That boy knew that Zuko was capable of fighting extremely well without bending, was excellent with swords and unnaturally good at infiltration and espionage. And then just never brought it up.

Katara's yelling at Zuko on how he thinks he'd be able to find and break into the Sun Warrior Temple while Aang is fidgeting in the background. Sokka starts giving Zuko a hard time about his swords, asking if a spoiled prince would know how to use them. Aang is vibrating unsure of how to explain that Sokka Might Die if he tried to swordfight Zuko unprepared but now its been too long and it'd be super awkward to bring up.

there's something deeply gutting about being a writer right now. watching studio execs brag about starving people like you out of your very house just to not pay you anything above the pennies you currently make. watching some people cheer over AO3 being targeted for a DDOS attack. the complete lack of profitability of writing commissions or writing in general in transformative spaces, especially in contrast to fanart. the pivot of so many social media platforms to be video and image based near-exclusively.

I don't know. it just makes me sad to know that the hobby that kept me alive while growing up homeschooled with dial-up internet and local antenna TV... is only ever gonna be a side job with minimal engagement. I know this site is good about supporting libraries and the concept of books but, do me a favor? Reach out to a writer friend you know. thinking about mizu from blue eye samurai. thinking. thinking so much. thinking about how mizu operates outside of gender. like we joke about her gender being revenge but straight up? it literally is. like she grew up as a boy and is most comfortable being a man, but behind that is the feeling of betraying himself because he isn't being honest about who he is and he lives in fear of being discovered. and when he lived as a woman, she found joy there as well. she fell in love, and though she wasn't good at it, she liked being a wife and enjoying a simple life. but in that life too, she isn't being honest about who she is. and when she reveals her true self, it's not a woman, she's a demon, a weapon. she's to masculine to be a woman, and too feminine to be a man. ultimately, mizu is most comfortable when they are being a murder machine. that's when they feel they are being the most true to themself. like a sword, they are neither man nor woman, but a blend of both, which makes them stronger.

Now I was intending to make this a much larger comic that showed their entire conversation.. But I don't normally draw lovey dovey stuff so this comics theme was new territory for me. I was kind'a tripping over the initial convo dialogue and wasn't sure how write it to make it sound natural...?? So I just jumped to the big reveal at the end and hoped what I wrote still packs the punch that I intended-

Ultimately though I think I'm happy with how this came out! Out of the two love birds I figured Blue would be the one to confess first. As Seafoam is so convinced that she's out of his league he wouldn't ever reveal his true feelings. But Blue? I was thinking that after a confidence boost from Coco or Cuttle, she gathers all her nerves and and takes him on a beach date where she... tried to confess.

I was thinking that when she looked at Seafoam.. she became so afraid of loosing what she already has with him, that she just couldn't say it. If she confesses her love and Seafoam doesn't feel the same? It'll seriously alter their friendship. And she loves him so much that she doesn't know if she's willing to risk it all just so her feelings can be met.

But Seafoam can tell that something is plaguing her mind. Something that troubles her so much she is brought to tears. And now that he knows he isn't going to let it go until he can solve this problem for her.

It probably took at least an hour or 2 of pacing around the beach. Them talking back and fourth. "You can tell me anything," "I want to but.." "I won't judge you.." "I know but.."..

Eventually they find a place to sit and talk some more. Where Blue just finally lets it out. She wants his love. She loves Seafoam and wants him to love her back. She was so afraid of what he would say. Thankfully though.. his entire body just lit up. And in his own words he said..

"I love you too."
