I emerged from the hospital in her place, the ghosts that haunts her bones

and I put on a smile and somehow keep going even though every step is agony The fear has only grown worse and now my spirit her spirt is broken is dead

And she was kidnapped by a hospital that lied to her parents

The buildings are gone now. Bulldozed and built over

Houses stand where it once did

Children play on the cursed soil not knowing just how many children souls died where they now run

Because why, when I speculate as to why Westerners dismiss Jewish indigeneity, demonize the mere presence of Jews in Eretz Yisrael, demand the complete destruction of Jewish culture in the Levant, do people come out of the woodwork to say “You are a dog and you will lie with dogs for the rest of your shameful life, do you not hear the cries of Palestini-”

I was not talking about the current war. “This don’t start on October 7th!” And neither did antisemitism, not in the West nor in the Arab world. Shut up! Ugh I should not be this easy to bait, but it turns out I am. I’m taking about an overarching narrative, from young Left leaning Americans. This arguably goes back to the Second Intifada, because that coincided with 9/11 and the Islamophobic hysteria that followed in America and Europe. That’s the scope of my musings.

If you want to talk about trying to force American politicians into advocating for a ceasefire, that’s fine. We can talk about that in due time. But my interest in discussing antisemitism, the history and psychology and sociology of it, goes so far beyond the latest slap fight between Hamas and the IDF.

If you can’t accept that or just don’t grasp it, I’m not going to take you seriously. You can try to belittle me or shame me into only talking about antisemitism on your terms but I’m not buying what you’re selling.

no magic httyd au where berk is a small town in 1910s europe preparing for the war effort but hiccup, son of the mayor, keeps ~mysteriously disappearing~ then coming back with new skills like increased flexibility and strength and endurance which put him at the top of his legion in training. astrid, previous top dog, takes issue with this. anyway long story short hiccup’s been training with a circus troop, and in the end the whole gang realises the futility of war, particularly the army, which had thus far been romanticised to them by government propaganda and run away with the dragon’s edge circus, who often take supplies to towns in need and help take refugees to safety and even launch guerilla attacks against occupying armies in the towns they visit. hiccup is a flying trapeze artist, astrid is a gymnast, snotlout is a strongman, the twins are a double clown act, fishlegs is a magician.

So, this is mostly just a fun timeline I made with little research backing it, but I thought it might be cool to share?

It goes through what historical events happened throughout Alastor’s life that might have impacted him and sets the stage for what his life might have looked like. It does hinge quite a bit on US history, so I will also touch on parts of that for our friends who aren’t from the US and don’t know : D

Now keep in mind that this is more of just a list of fun facts that i’ve shoved into a readable outline, than anything put together lol.

Alastor is said to be in his 30’s or 40’s when he died in 1933, this puts his year of birth at a rough range of 1890-1900. For the purpose of this timeline, I will be assuming that Alastor was born in the year 1902 because I want to. This would make him 31 at the time of his death.

In 1892, the supreme court ruled on Plessy vs Ferguson, which was what established the idea of ‘Separate but Equal’ <- (i'm assuming people know what that is and stuff, if you don’t know, feel free to ask, I can give more of a history lesson)

From 1900-1909, education past the 5th grade did not EXIST in New Orleans for black children. This is a large part of why I believe a birth year of at least 1900 would be more accurate for Alastor, as he would have been 7-9 (2nd-4th) when middle school (6th-8th) became available to him.

In 1917, McDonogh No. 35 High School became the first public high school for black teens. Alastor would have been 15 in my timeline. This means that he would have likely been out of school for a year under the assumption that he wouldn’t be able to go anymore. (There were a couple private schools, but those were Expensive!!)

1920: KKK reemerged in Louisiana <- (again, assuming people know the history on this, if you would like a quick history lesson, lmk!!)

In 1921, Alastor graduated! Yay!! He is now 19!

Now, a fun fact! Throughout all of this, radio has not existed as a Thing in New Orleans. Alastor would not have grown up listening to the radio. It would have been new tech for him!!

In 1922, the first radio station came to New Orleans!!! It’s called WWL and it runs … drumroll please … ADS!!! In an attempt to raise funds for Loyola University! Exciting, right? : D

By 1927, the Federal Radio Commission was established in an effort to help organize airwaves, which had become messy and disorganized from the abundance of unlicensed, random people broadcasting.

1933: Alastor dies D:

Also 1933, oddly enough, A newspaper somehow managed to get radio stations in New Orleans legally banned from airing news from the last 24 hours?????

An interesting note. This ban went through in the summer. Deer season is in the winter (Dec-Jan), so it was either banned 6 months before or 6 months after Alastor’s death

1934: FRC is replaced by the Federal Communications Commission

Not too thrilled that my other post is getting so many notes when I'm not satisfied with it for a multitude of reasons. Let's have a do-over, hopefully much more succinct and to the original point.

When Palestinians, actually basically all Arabs, or all Muslims, say "Jerusalem is holy to us it is the 3rd holiest city in our religion." The White Western Leftist (WWL) will say "That's so valid your religion is so interesting and beautiful Hamas did nothing wrong I love the Houthis!"

But if a Jew ever rebuts "Jerusalem is holy to us as well, it's our holiest city, basically the only one we have," the WWL will probably roll their eyes, scoff, probably say something like "Okay but like why are you still using your outdated Zionist death cult to justify colonialism? You really think the Bible justifies killing millions of Palestinians?" and start going on and on about how Judaism invented everything bad about Christianity.

My hypothesis: These people are not allies to Muslims (Palestinians). They are condescending to them. They are throwing them a bone because they feel bad about how the Muslim world has been treated, well ever since Sykes-Picot, but especially post 9/11, the Patriot Act, The War on Terror, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Drone War, Libya, Nato, The Arab Spring, the list goes on. They don't think Muslims are capable of building the kind of societies they want, not without their gracious help. They don't think Muslims should have the same ideals of democracy and human rights, because they don't expect that from the Brown People. They won't ever hold them to such a standard because "Ugh where do we get off lecturing them?" even though they would never think this of Jews.

These people are not equals to Jews, something something Sartre they think they are both superior and inferior (which makes them superior). They are not just trying to hold their fellow citizens of the world to account. They are trying to put Jews in their place. They are projecting their religious trauma onto Jews because they do not understand Judaism. They see Judaism as Power. They are trying to delegitimize Judaism as a religion (and it is a religion, including the parts of religions that give atheists the "ick," including a lot of mysticism). They are trying to caterwaul about Jews being responsible for the world's ills and that they expect Jewish People to be better than this. To evolve beyond religion and community and affiliation and identity. They want Jewish to be nothing more than a box ticked off on a census. A neat little factoid about yourself, like how your neighbor Cheryl has Norwegian ancestry.

My only conclusion is that these people find Jews and Judaism repulsive, and they find Muslims and Islam primitive. Unlike their parents' generation, they appreciate the primitive. It is noble savagery to them. Unlike their parents' generation, the comparatively cosmopolitan modern secular Western sheen of Jewry (applied to Jews against their will) is not something that we almost lost from the world, but an annoying holdover of what we almost successfully purged from the world.

Because remember, while they hate their parents and everything they stand for, they still deep down want Daddy's approval. So it makes perfect sense why the psyche would displace anger and trauma and all that caused by Christianity, and look elsewhere to place blame. It falls at the feet of Jews and Judaism. Because my culture could never, there has to be a missing puzzle piece that could explain- oh there it is. The Jews did it. And wow look how easily this can slot in with every other antisemitism conspiracy theory.

The audacity to think I could make a shorter version of that post 😂 But basically it's this: The WWL, the Zoomer Left, the Tankies, whatever name you call them... they think that they can "save" Muslims by offering up Jews, and the terrorist fascist fundamentalists like Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, they're on board. They're all in. Normal ass every day Muslims/Palestinians? They just want peace, they just want rights, they just want sovereignty. The WWL is not interested in that perspective.

They have not once in their lives thought of what they could possibly do in terms of reparations. No no, tweeting and marching for a weekend are quite enough. They have not once in their lives turned inward and self reflected on the ways they benefit from and their own role in these systems of supremacy, that have harmed Muslims around the world. Jewish blood is more than enough to pay for operation Iraqi Freedom. Jewish lives are a fetching price to assuage the Westerner's guilt. You know since they have so much trouble turning inward and reflecting on their own contribution to Islamophobia, it might do them good to practice a little תשובה... but I don't know 😌

JJ Appreciation

I would like to talk about Jameson for a second.

Theres been a lot of talk in the community about him lately, and honestly I think he’s incredibly underrated and under utilized. (Not even talking about the people who have said he’s ‘boring’ because he can’t speak, something that, as a person with a speech disorder, I have some ISSUES with.)

A lot of people characterize him as just a sweet, innocent little man who likes his puppets and is getting terrorized by Anti. And that’s true! But it’s not even close to the entire story.

Of all of the egos that Anti has directly accosted on camera, (those being C!Jack, Schneep, JJ, and Chase.) JJ IS THE ONLY ONE WHO WE SEE ACTUALLY FIGHTING BACK:

Look at JJ here! He is not a passive victim, he’s fighting the bastard with everything he has!

No other victim of Anti’s has been able to do this. Not c!Jack in Say Goobye, not Schneep in KJSE, not Chase in Dark Silence/Anomaly Found.

On top of that, if Jameson is actually from the 1920’s and that’s not just a stylistic choice, he almost certainly fought in WWl. Out of all the egos except for probably Jackie, HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS SEEN ACTUAL COMBAT. JJ is no pushover.

I think the big thing a lot of people have been unable to understand is that kindness and weakness are NOT synonyms. ‘JJ is a kind, sweet man’, and ‘JJ would most definitely punch Anti in his stupid face’ are statements that should be able to coexist!

I leave with a request for JSE artists, writers and other creatives: let JJ kick some ass. He’s clearly capable, and I say the man deserves it.

Tiny Update - WWL/TDDU + PINS

First off - thank you SO very much to all of you leaving lovely comments in the tags on the last (and any other) part(s) of Til Death Do Us / Wolfwood Lives AU.

How's the comic doing?

I decided to favor myself enjoying the work on it instead of spitting it all out asap and having it finished for May. No more zine ready in May for Animefest happening, unfortunately. It's too much pressure and I just. I wouldn't like it. The comic would suffer - both in terms of writing and art. Not to mention I don't ever want to pressure one of my best buds and my personal editor @Squeemu.

This way I can still think of the script a bit more, add new little ideas, enjoy preparing the layout and draw each of the faces in my own time. And maybe splash some colours into some other parts as well again. 👀 I MISS COLOURING STUFF SO MUCH.

The slower pace will also let me rest from time to time, maybe play a videogame and maybe not go crazy when 7R2 is out and I'll be biting table about it, bc I SHOULD BE DRAWING THE COMIC, bc I only have xy days til the end of April. (Trust me, it did happen, I went to bed counting pages, matching them to days in my head over and over and over.... and then broke down.)

So. That said - we are progressing quite nicely now! Even with the crazy amount of storyboarding work I had in Jan/Feb. I am having fun, I LOVE drawing the part I'm working on rn.

What about the PINS?!

Good question! The data's in the manu atm. However, as China's still celebrating Lunar New Year, the factories are closed. But - the break should end on 20th. So we should get some news soon. :)
