I sometimes relate to Codotverse!Riddler to an uncomfortable extent. Not just regular canon Edward Nygma/Riddler ,but specifically Waiting4Codot’s version. And I’m having a hard time pinning down why, I mean my home life isn’t troubled or anything. Sometimes kinning or just plain normal relating to a character is something you feel in your soul.

Chapter 1

Scarecrow had completed taken over, Jonny was his now. He wasn't letting him go any time soon. Not till Bolton got what was coming to him. His days were numbered, he sang his songs and dragged his scythe lazily across the floor. The blood of the guards who were dumb enough to get in his way stained his clothes and hands, some droplets had landed on his face.

Deep down inside his mind was Jonathan Crane, alone and lost without his friend no his family to keep him grounded. He lamented his poor Ikky. It was just him, that was it. Just poor ol' Jonny. He felt so broken but Scarecrow would make them pay, to make sure Bolton would suffer in the harshest way possible. For now he'd rest and remain with his memories of his feathed friend.

Scarecrow smirked as he encountered Harley,

"Ahhh...I remember you....little lamb. I broke your clown. Did you cry?"

Scarecrow hadn't been in the mood for Joker or his annoying jokes. He partially hoped it would be the end of the clown. Harley looked to her patient and dear friend, her voice was broken.

"I'm sorry about Ikky."

He eyed her up and down, a sadistic smile on his face,

"No guards to save you this time."

Crow looked over his prey, a cruel smile on his face. Scythe in hand.

"Jonny-- I know you're in pain."

He frowned now. But he could feel his pet rising to the surface? No!

"Shut your mouth!"

Harley put her hands up to show she was unarmed and he growled a little. And with a few words from her fool mouth came his pet to the surface.

"Harley?"

The other was so close to getting Jon to take control only for Crow to rip the man back down. He was not about to lose! Not till Bolton suffered! It was a promise!

"NO!"

Crow lunged forward wrapping his hands around her throat and squeezed.

"YOU WILL NOT TAKE HIM FROM ME AGAIN! ALL SHALL BE PUNISHED!"

Harley while trying to speak told the other that Jon wasn't his friend, that earned a growl from the other who declared she was prettier when she begged for Jon's life. That's when Eddie stepped in to save him. Crow let her go and snarled. His attention turned to Nigma, he raised his weapon and brought it down meaning to harm no kill the other only to be blocked by the cane.

"My cane!"

"Why did you do that?"

Harley looked at Eddie, she almost had him! Jonny was there. She just needed more time! Now they were back to square one! Scarecrow tried to attack them again only for yet another to join the fray? This was annoying! Crow just wanted Bolton! How the fuck can they keep them from this goal?! It was very simple: kill the man who hurt his Jonny. Then keep Jon as his forever and never give up control.

Scarecrow made short work of Caviler. He wasn't dead, as far as he knew but he didn't care. Bolton was HIS. Then the biggest mistake was made, Bolton called him to the roof. A flare? How childish. He made his way there, this ended now. He sang his song once more. He could see the door to the roof. A sadistic smile once again on his face. This was destiny. Death of a monster, death to Bolton.

Once on the roof, he growled out,

"It's time to pay the piper son!"

Crow and Bolton engaged in a fight, despite the clear disadvantage of their height Crow wasn't about to let Bolton win. He was so close! But when Bolton took his scythe and shocked him he tried to recover.

"Fuck you are a hayseed. Bringing a scythe to a gunfight?"

"Keep it. I don't need it to kill you!"

The two men continued to grapple. Scarecrow eventually got the upper hand and got Bolton in a headlock.

"Shhh now...let Scarecrow end your suffering..."

Bolton laughed, this frustrated Crow.

"I'd like to know what's so funny."

"You did... exactly what he said you'd do."

"Well HROO HRAA, Lyle Bolton."

With a sickening crunch, he snapped the security guards neck. He laughed, it was over. As he turned his attention to his audience a dark fog surrounded him.

"What the fuck?!"

He ran for his scythe and as he grabbed it the fog got thicker. He walked through the fog, he couldn't see for the longest of time. Eventually he found a light at the end. He stepped out of the fog only to see a campfire.

"Where the hell am I?"

He looked around and saw unfamiliar faces, strange creatures and humanoid looking people. He clearly wasn't in Gotham. He was still covered in blood. The others looked him, a large man with a mask on his face approached.

"Welcome to the killers camp. I am Evan MacMillan but you can call me Trapper."

So I'm sure he'll be surprised to see me actually post this almost 3 years later, because I said I wouldn't at the time I got it, but I've decided enough time has past that I wanted to put this out there to share.

Back in late 2017, I called upon @waiting4codot for a possible commission: I was going thru a rough patch at the time and I wanted to commission him for a custom script of some reassurances from none other than Edward and Jonathan. When I sent him the script i'd drafted up at the time, he approved, and awhile later this made its way into my inbox. Needless to say I cried the first time I heard it, it was a major comfort to me at the time. It still is now honestly, which is why I decided I wanted to share it with everyone finally.

Yes, I've been going back to the start and listening to get a new perspective. I honestly love codots work, he's voiced a few things for me and some game grumps jokes, which really make me laugh I can't even keep a straight face because love his gg stuff.

Codot is extremely skilled in what he does, and for one person working on his project with minimal help (not to say he wife doesn't do tremendous work on it also, she does and deserves credit) which is just astounding. I don't even feel like listening to the official dc batman podcast (Audio Adventures) because I'd rather support codot.

Also he's genuinely such a nice guy <3 and I am glad to know him.

I was lucky enough to snag a commission slot from the incomparable @waiting4codot​ and asked for a Jon cover of Through the Valley by Shawn James, also sung by Ellie in the teaser for Last of Us 2.

Codot always does a great job painting such vivid scenes with vocals alone. I love how Jon changes up the cadence of the song, delivering some lines faster than others, adding pauses and even tweaking the whistle part. It makes it feel really natural, like Jon would sing it on his porch under a Georgia sunset, idly strumming a guitar and not thinking about work or its stresses.

If y’all get the chance, commission this man. Not only is he an utter sweetheart even when it took me hours to give my feedback bc I was out of town but I was also really impressed by the turnaround time! Considering everything on his plate atm, I didn’t expect to get this until Halloween or later, but it only took 3 days??? 10/10 would throw money at again.
