god apparently Walgreens has a policy where employees can refuse to complete a transaction if it goes against their moral or religious beliefs…like lets get this straight a pharmacist can refuse to give a customer their prescribed medication because they disagree with it. and technically theyre supposed to hand it off to another employee. but this doesnt always happen. literally leaving people without condoms or contraceptives or HRT or any number of things because the employee simply didnt want to. Incredibly ghoulish policy that has no right to exist. I’m sorry if you work in a pharmacy and can’t do your literal job because its too “morally challenging” for you, you should not have that job!

no excuses for the kids who chose to participate (that is until we get more info) but do you think laws are going to be written to overpolice these neighborhoods? to police what they can and cannot wear? you think the national guard is going to be called to just hang around their blocks? when white people do their dirt white people at large get a pass that black people don't. because of them there's been tough on crime laws past all over the country that will specifically target black and brown communities. they won't target the communities starting up and running the entire operation cuz those lily white communities must always be protected. it is always the black and brown communities that must feel the brunt of the after effects of s*** like this.

Oct 30 (Reuters) - Some employees at CVS Health Corp (CVS.N) and Walgreens Boots Alliance's (WBA.O) U.S. pharmacies launched a three-day walkout starting Monday to push the companies to improve working conditions and add more staff to their stores. The walkout, which has been dubbed "Pharmageddon" on social media platforms such as Meta's Facebook where it was largely planned, started on Monday and led to the closing of some stores in New York City, two organizers told Reuters. Shane Jerominski, a former Walgreens pharmacist and one of the organizers of the walkout, told Reuters that as many as 5,000 pharmacy workers would walk out across the three days, but said that the exact number of affected stores and participating staff was not clear due to the lack of a union.

TIME TO BOYCOTT WALGREENS

The nation’s second-largest pharmacy chain confirmed Thursday that it will not dispense abortion pills in several states where they remain legal — acting out of an abundance of caution amid a shifting policy landscape, threats from state officials and pressure from anti-abortion activists.
Nearly two dozen Republican state attorneys general wrote to Walgreens in February, threatening legal action if the company began distributing the drugs, which have become the nation’s most popular method for ending a pregnancy.
The company told POLITICO that it has since responded to all the officials, assuring them that they will not dispense abortion pills either by mail or at their brick-and-mortar locations in those states.
The list includes several states where abortion in general, and the medications specifically, remain legal — including Alaska, Iowa, Kansas and Montana.

Oct 6 (Reuters) - Pharmacy employees at some U.S. Walgreens (WBA.O) stores, including pharmacists, technicians and support staff, plan a walkout between Monday and Wednesday, CNN reported on Friday, citing an organizer. Some employees plan to walk out for one day, while others expect to close their pharmacies for all three, the network said, citing employees in three states. The walkout is in response to what pharmacy employees call burdensome prescription and vaccination expectations placed on pharmacists, the report said. Reuters could not immediately reach employees involved in the reported action for comment. Walgreens said in an emailed response it was engaged and listening to concerns raised by some of its team members. "We are making significant investments in pharmacist wages and hiring bonuses to attract/retain talent in harder to staff locations," the company said. In the biggest ever U.S. healthcare sector strike, Kaiser Permanente nurses, medical technicians and support staff walked off the job at hospitals and clinics for 72 hours this week. The strike by 75,000 workers ended on Friday as the two sides agreed to resume stalled contract talks, although union officials warned of possible further walkouts.

So, there’s talk of CVS and Walgreens pharmacists going on strike because of working conditions and I just feel like it’s a good time to let anyone who isn’t aware know that you do not have to have a Costco membership to have prescriptions filled (at least in the States. I don’t know about other countries), so having yours transferred if you’re worried might buy you some peace of mind. When you’re picking up your prescriptions, just tell the person checking for cards at the door that you’re there for the pharmacy and walk to it. They accept cash, any debit card with a PIN (this should include your FSA/HSA cards), and Visa credit cards as payment (no other credit cards, though). I believe you can also used their online mail order pharmacy without a membership as well, but I’ve never done that.
