I haven't seen any dog stories in a while. How are Charleston and The Hanukkah Goblin doing?
Dog updates!
The first one is a little sad, but also how life should go. Arwen is 14 now and while she's still moving, eating, pooping and generally enjoying life, she also has canine dementia and sundown syndrome where she gets extremely nervous and her dementia gets worse after dark. She'll be with us for a while yet, but it's something we have to manage now.
One person who is very much helping her manage is Herschel. My parents are traveling a lot while they still have the knees for it so I spend a lot of time up at their house, and Charleston and Herschel come up too. Being a Corgi, Herschel likes to manage things, and Arwen would like someone to manage things for her so he's become her self-appointed guide dog.
When I call the dogs for food or outside, he goes and finds her deaf ass and herds her to the location. Normally she doesn't go outside after dark but when the boys are there she's willing to wait for Charlie to chase away anything that might be lurking out there, and then follow Herschel's ass around the yard at night.
Very literally.
She's also got cataracts forming and I think his bright white backside is easy for her to see in the dark, so she follows it around.
During daytime walks she sees well enough but neither she nor Charlie are fans of strange off-leash dogs running up to them (a regrettably common problem out here. I don't care if your dog is friendly MINE ARE NOT!), so both of them prefer to walk half a pace behind Herschel so his more socially adept and knife-filled face is out front to intercept any unwanted solicitors. This does tend to give people the opposite impression though- because he is so much shorter, Herschel gives the impression of a tiny, charming mafioso flanked by his two large and surly bodyguards.
Like, they absolutely would kill a bear for him.
But Charlie and Arwen would also try to kill a bear on general principle.
At night, when Arwen barks at shadows, Herschel runs up and stand between her and the alleged menace, and does his best to look large and intimidating and for as silly as he looks, he does have a very good growl. After a moment, when the alleged bear or congressman or other horror fails to appear, he will stick his nose into the offending shadow, and finding nothing, be satisfied that their joint effort has successfully chased the problem off, and report back to her. This, more than anything else, seems to alleviate Arwen 's fears.
I guess we all just need someone to take us seriously when we're frightened.
Charleston, meanwhile, has gotten into giving safari tours of the front range's small vertebrates.
After eight years of managing his exceptionally high prey drive, something clicked earlier this summer and instead of immediately lunging his whole face at any approximately bite-sized animal in an attempt to expedite it's journey into his stomach, Charlie has started *pointing* at things until I come look at them and tell him he's a good boy. This started with a mole, something he'd never seen before and that moves above ground in a strange way, so he wasn't sure about eating it, so he only alerted at it. "GOOD BOY!" I shouted, giving him all the cuddles. "GOOD SPOT! GOOD JOB NOT EATING IT!"
It's important to reward behavior you want to see.
Since then, he's been trying out pointing at small creatures in the grass and then making very pointed eye contact with me until I come look at them. This is a little tricky when walking both dogs because Herschel is still very much in his "inhale wildlife" phase, but usually I can lock the little gremlin's leash and go look at whatever Charlie has cornered while Herschel attempts to develop telekinesis to will the critter into his mouth.
So far, Charleston has found: a baby rabbit, several baby rabbits in a cluster, an adult rabbit with Jackalope virus, several voles, several moles, a fledgling owl, only the two mice, several mouse-sized grasshoppers and cicada, someone's pet rat (the person was searching within earshot and 'Socks' was collected forthwith), a beanie baby that had me fooled for a hit minute too, a marmot which I didn't know lived down here, a groundhog which I didn't know lived up here, a mink, so many toads, a wild turkey chick, so many more garter snakes and last night, an aquatic shrew.
I don't know if there's an Audubon Society for small things that scuttle around in the undergrowth, but I am inclined to join solely to get Charleston recognition for his service in surveying them.

Where after months ( cuz shes new n young working there)they cant také anymore their attraction to each other.
Key sentences: Hotch: I’m old enough to be your father. R: Should I call you Daddy then?
Smut n fluff
Please
Author's Note: oooo thank you for this request anon!! thinking many thoughts, head very full
Tumblr media
Summary: It's no secret that you have a thing for your boss - a man 25 years your senior. What happens when he reveals he has feelings for you too?
Pairing: Aaron Hotchner x (AFAB) Reader
Word Count: 5108 (i got carried away hehe)
Warnings: MINORS DO NOT INTERACT!!! UNDER 18? PLEASE KEEP SCROLLING! SMUT; DADDY KINK; SIR KINK; OVERSTIMULATION; MULTIPLE ORGASMS; UNPROTECTED P IN V (don't be like them y'all, stay safe); DOM!HOTCH, SUB!READER; READER IS HORNY; FINGERING; ORAL (F RECEIVING) reader gets distracted by Hotch's hands, pining, confession of feelings, reader blacks out from cumming really hard; Hotch calls reader "good girl, princess, baby"; Morgan is a cheeky bastard (as per usual)
This work is meant for readers aged 18 and over. You are responsible for your own media consumption.
“Y/N, you're staring, again," Morgan says with a chuckle and I quickly find somewhere else to look that isn't our section chief. Which I was definitely not having rated-R thoughts about.
"Shut up, Morgan," I mutter.
"Why don't you just tell him how you feel?" I turn and stare at him now, eyes wide in disbelief.
"Sure, why don't I just tell a much older man that every time I look at him, I feel weak in the knees and sweaty? That would really go over well." I say, sarcastically.
"We're getting tired of watching you eye-fuck him, Y/N." Emily sighs, jumping into the conversation.
"It's getting kind of pathetic at this point," Morgan adds and I smack him on the shoulder.
"You guys are being mean. Let me pine in peace."
"Y/N, none of us are at peace when you start acting like a dog in heat every time Hotch walks in the room. It's genuinely hard to watch." Morgan shoots back, grinning at me. I feel my cheeks grow hot at his brazen comment. "Just put us out of our misery and get laid for once, damn." I feel my cheeks growing even hotter.
"He - he doesn't like me like that." I'm tripping over my words, embarrassed that everyone can see what's clearly written by my body language when Hotch is around.
"Y/N, sweetie, you're smart, but sometimes you're an idiot," Emily says kindly. "He likes you."
"Trust us, we know," Morgan adds.
"How?" I say and cross my arms over my chest.
"Really? Okay. Whenever he's giving a briefing and you're standing next to him, his body gravitates towards yours, you're the first person he looks for in every room, Y/N, two weeks ago on that case in Charleston he almost throttled the officer that merely tried to flirt with you."
"Wait, that officer was flirting with me?" I've only been here a few months, so I haven't learned how to read people as well as him yet.
"Oh my god, she actually is an idiot." Morgan groans. "Yes! He always got you coffee refills without asking, offered you the first pick of the donuts, and gave you, and only you, a very thorough tour of the precinct. He was trying to impress you." He looks at me closely. "How the fuck did you get this job?" I shrug.
"Impeccable academic record?" I suggest timidly, and he snorts.
"Just pay attention to Hotch. More than you are already. You'll see."
"He's old enough to be my dad," I say.
"Why do I have the feeling that only fuels your fantasies?" Morgan mutters. "I'm done with this conversation. Either you tell him, Y/N, or I will."
"MORGAN!" He just throws his hands up in the air giving me an exasperated look. "Em? A little back up here?"
"As much as I hate to agree with Morgan, he has a point. It’s kind of hard to focus on work when we all know what’s going on except for you two. I mean this in the nicest way possible, but just say something, for the sake of everyone who has to be in a room with you guys. I could cut the tension between you two like a knife.” She gives me a small smile.
“I- I’m just nervous. What if you guys are wrong?” She places her hand over mine.
“We’re not wrong, Y/N. We even asked Reid to weigh in and he agrees with us. Just say something.” I frown and head back to my desk, needing to be alone with my thoughts for a while. I’m deep in a stack of paperwork when Hotch calls the team into a meeting. I sigh, set my pen aside, and make my way into the boardroom. I’m on high alert, due to Morgan’s comment, and as I step into the room, I glance at Hotch to find him already looking at me. He looks away quickly and I watch as the tips of his ears turn pink. Oh my god, they were right.
I’m hyper-aware of him the whole meeting, so much so that I barely heard a word he was saying.
“Y/N? Are you paying attention?” Hotch asks, looking at me.
“Uh, yes, sir.” I blurt out in a panic. I wasn’t expecting him to directly address me.
“YES SIR?” Morgan hollers. “That’s a new one.” Even Em is hiding a smile behind her hand. Hotch glares at him.
“Don’t tease her, Morgan. Y/N, please pay attention.”
“I will, sorry Hotch.” He just nods and goes back to what he was saying. I tried to pay attention I really did but I found myself watching his hands as he talked. He gestures at the screen, then to something in the paper he had given us, then puts his hand on his hip. His fingers are so thick I wonder if two would even fit inside of me. I’m thinking about him fingering me on his desk, pussy splayed and dripping for him, and I shift in my seat, feeling the wetness in my panties. Dammit, Y/N, don’t get carried away.
“Y/N, seriously,” Hotch sighs a few minutes later and I’m dragged from my dirty daydream. “I need you to pay attention or leave. Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. I’m sorry. I don’t know what’s wrong with me today.”
“I’ve got an idea,” Morgan whispers with a grin. I glare at him.
“I’m trying to pay attention, I swear.”
“Are you sick? You look a bit warm, why don’t you step out for a few minutes.” I just nod, too embarrassed to look him in the eyes. “And I want to see you in my office when we’re done with this meeting.” I nod again and feel my stomach drop to my ass in nervousness. I quickly walk out of the room and am pacing when the door opens up and Morgan walks out, a shit-eating grin on his face.
“What the hell were you thinking about in there?” He whispers, then pauses, “Actually, I’m not sure I want to know.”
“Just leave me alone, Morgan. I’m embarrassed enough already.” I say quietly.
“Oh, baby girl, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to tease you too much. You’re just an easy target. If it helps any, Hotch was downright flushed after you left. He stumbled over his words. Twice. I’ve never seen him that flustered. It’s like he knew what you were thinking about.” He nudges me with his shoulder. “Don’t sweat it, okay?”
“You’re not the one who has to face him in his office,” I grumble.
“Well, just make sure you guys close the blinds.”
“MORGAN! Shut up!” He’s laughing as he walks away. JJ and Em shoot me sympathetic smiles as they walk by and Reid pats me on the shoulder. Hotch doesn’t say a word as he walks out of the boardroom, and I diligently follow him to his office.
“Take a seat.” He says, gesturing at the chair and my eyes follow his hand again. Y/N! Stop! That’s what got you in trouble in the first place! I quickly take a seat, clasping my hands in my lap. “Now do you want to tell me why you were so distracted today?” He asks, looking at me. I feel the heat creep up my chest and onto my cheeks.
“I-um-no. No, I don’t.” He raises an eyebrow at that.
“Really? Because Morgan seems to have an idea. Maybe I should go ask him what he thinks.”
“No!” I blurt out. “Sorry. It’s just…embarrassing.” He just looks at me and I sigh before whispering, “Your hands. I was distracted by your hands.”
“My…hands?” He says slowly.
“Yes, sir, I mean Hotch, sorry. I know it’s not appropriate and I apologize.”
“What is it about my hands?” He asks, his voice low and in a tone that makes my heartbeat travel down to my pussy. I shift in my seat, a movement that most likely does not go unnoticed by him. “Y/N. Look at me.” I take a shaky breath and look up at him, all rational thoughts leaving my head when I see that his cheeks are pink, and his pupils are so blown I can barely see the brown. “What is it. About my hands.” He enunciates every word.
“They’re big,” I whisper.
“And what does that make you think about?”
“Please don’t make me say it.”
“No, no I want to hear you say it.”
In the smallest voice possible I say, “I was wondering if your fingers would even fit in me.” I hear him take in a sharp breath. “What it would feel like to be spread out on your desk with - with your fingers inside of me.”
“Careful, Y/N, you’re walking a thin line.” He murmurs.
“Haven’t I crossed it already, sir?”
“I’m old enough to be your father.” He says, words clipped. I get a sudden burst of confidence and stare him down.
“Should I call you Daddy, then?” I ask sweetly. I watch as he tightens his jaw.
“Watch your mouth, little girl. You don’t want to see how mean Daddy can get.”
“And what if I want to find out, Daddy?” I watch as his nostrils flare and he takes a deep breath.
“That’s enough, Y/N.” He spits out and I still, and fear that I’m about to lose my job to ill-timed arousal. My breath hitches as he leans back in his chair, eyes carefully watching me. “What am I gonna do with you?”
“Whatever you’d like to, sir,” I say simply and I watch his jaw tick again.
“Listen to me very carefully. We are going to go downstairs, you are going to gather your things, and you are not going to say a single word. I’m going to tell everyone that you’re not feeling well enough to drive, so I’m taking you home.” I swallow hard, not believing that this is actually happening right now. “Do you understand?” I nod quickly. “I need to hear you say you understand. Or else this stops now, and we don’t speak of it again.”
“I understand completely, sir.”
“Good girl.” He says in a low voice and a whimper escapes me before I can shove it down. He stiffens. “Do you like that? Hearing that you’re a good girl?” My pussy clenches around nothing, begging to be filled.
“Yes, Daddy.” He hums, getting up quickly and my mouth goes dry when I see the tented fabric of his pants. He shrugs off his suit jacket and slings it over his forearm and in front of his body, effectively hiding his raging boner. He walks over to me, and I hastily get up from the chair, and he grabs my arm, gripping it just hard enough to keep me grounded and lucid despite the lust-filled thoughts in my head. He yanks open his office door and we make our way down the stairs. I keep my head down as we approach my desk, the bullpen so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
“Y/N isn’t feeling well. I’m driving her home.” Hotch says, letting go of my arm so I can grab my jacket and purse. I glance at him, nodding that I have everything, and he grabs my arm again, and we hastily walk towards the elevator.
“GO EASY ON HER, HOTCH!” Morgan shouts, and I hear Em laugh.
“Shut up, Morgan.” Hotch growls over his shoulder, and I glance back at Morgan, who mouths ‘Good luck’ at me. “Don’t look at him. The only person you should be looking at is me, princess.” We get in the elevator, and he pushes the button so hard I think that he’s going to break the damn thing.
“Jesus, what’s got you so riled up?” I say sweetly, not caring that I’d probably pay for that question later. I just want to see him snap, lose that carefully cultivated control and unleash himself on me. He turns on me in a second, caging my body between the wall of the elevator and the hard planes of his body. He grabs my chin, tilting my face up to look at him.
“Watch yourself. I’d hate for you to get into something you can’t handle.”
“I can take whatever you throw at me, sir.” He laughs.
“Yeah, right, princess. Keep talking a big game – we’ll see how far that gets you.”
“Well, it got me here, didn’t it?”
“Right where you wanted, I presume?” He asks, tilting his head and there’s nothing friendly in his eyes. I just nod, sucking in a breath when he pushes his body closer to mine and his hard-on is pressing into my thigh. “Before this goes further: green for go, yellow for slow down, red for hard stop, no questions asked. Do you understand?” I nod, and he raises his eyebrows.
“I understand!” I blurt out.
“Good.” He suddenly dips his head down, nose bumping into mine as we share the same breaths for a few seconds. “I’m going to ruin you.” He whispers onto my lips, not quite kissing me.
“Please. Ruin me, Daddy,” I whisper and he’s kissing me as soon as the last word is out of my mouth. It’s overwhelming, the way he kisses, stealing all the air from my lungs in a millisecond. I gasp when the hand from my chin drops to my chest, reaching into my dress shirt and under my tank top to tweak my right nipple. He takes that opportunity to slip his tongue into my mouth, tasting me. The elevator dings and his hand disappears from my shirt and his lips retreat. I whine at the sudden loss of contact, as we had just gone from 100 miles an hour to 0 miles an hour.
“I know, princess, I’m sorry. You don’t want Daddy to get caught, do you?” I shake my head vigorously and he chuckles, escorting me to his car, and opens the passenger door for me, ever the gentleman. He gets in and starts the car as I buckle my seatbelt. He backs out of the parking spot, placing one hand on the back of my headrest and I suck in a sharp breath. He glances at me. “Really? You’re turned on by my driving?”
“I can’t help it. I’m sorry.” I breathe out, not daring to look at him. My cheeks are warm, and I feel frazzled. I jump when his hand comes to rest on my thigh, dangerously close to where I want him. I shift my hips, trying to get him closer to where I need him. He smacks my thigh abruptly.
“Don’t do that. You can wait.” He says gruffly.
“I can’t. I can’t wait.” I gasp out. “Please. Please touch me. I need you. Please, sir, I’ll do anything.”
“I’ll oblige you, but only because you begged so prettily. I like it when you sound desperate. One rule though: no cumming without my permission.” His hand slips under my skirt and I thank god that this was one of the rare days I decided to wear one. His fingers ghost over my cunt, the lightest touch and my breathing is already starting to labor. When his fingers press my clit from outside my panties my hips buck into the air. “Someone’s responsive.” He says, more to himself than me. His fingers trail lower, and he groans when he feels the wet spot. “Already this wet for me, princess?”
“Only for you, Daddy.” I whimper when he pushes my panties to the side, hand now free to touch as he pleases. His fingers come up to tease my clit again before one deftly slips inside of me. I let out a choked sound, tight around him. Just one finger feels thick, and when he slips in another finger I keen, tightening again.
“Jesus, you’re tight.” He curls his fingers and hits that spot inside of me that I struggle to hit by myself. I gasp, hand closing around his wrist, and I don’t know if I’m trying to stop him or egg him on. He continues to work his fingers in me as he drives and I’m not sure how he’s managing to stay on the road. I know I should reciprocate but the feeling of his fingers plunging in and out of me has made every thought I’ve ever had flee my brain. After a few minutes, my thighs start to shake and I’m panting, so close to a mind-blowing orgasm that I forget he told me I can’t cum without his permission. His fingers slip out of me seconds before I hit my peak.
“NO!” I shout, shaking in the passenger seat, sitting in a small puddle of my own arousal. I hope it stains his impeccable leather seats.
“Only good girls get to cum, and you haven’t been a good girl today, baby,” He says, “Open.” I open my mouth and he slips the fingers he just had inside of me into my awaiting mouth. I suck his fingers off earnestly, just like I would to his cock if he gave me the chance. He pulls his fingers out with a pop and I realize he’s parked the car in his garage. Is this really happening? I think to myself. “Color?” He asks me, turning my face so I can look into his eyes. I could get lost in his eyes.
“Green,” I say quickly.
“Good girl,” He whispers and meets my mouth in a messy kiss full of tongue, need, and teeth.
I don’t know how we made it inside, but as soon as I cross through the doorway, Hotch throws me over his shoulder, and I shriek. He carries me to the bedroom, dropping me on the bed. I’m paralyzed as I watch him rip his tie off, dress shirt following soon after. He’s beautiful, and I want to run my hands all over him and feel every scar. My eyes are tracing his chest and ever the profiler, he notices.
“You can touch. It’s okay.” He walks over to me, planting himself between my legs. I timidly touch his stomach, trailing my hands up his abdomen, running my fingers along his scars in quiet admiration. He suddenly takes my hand, kissing it, a break in the dominant façade. I give him a soft smile, one that has always been reserved for him, and his breath hitches in his chest. His hands cup my face, looking into my eyes, and I’ve never felt safer than I have at this moment. I close my eyes, leaning into his touch, my hands resting on his wrists. It feels like we’re the only people in the world, two souls destined to collide. His next kiss is gentle as if he doesn’t want to ruin the moment, but he tosses his resolve out the window when I bite his bottom lip. He growls, pushing me onto my back and stepping out of his pants and boxers. I push myself up on my elbows to watch him and gasp when he’s revealed to me completely. He’s big. Bigger than I’ve had before. I knew it would be big because of his damn hands. “You’re far too dressed for my liking.” He mutters, and the next moment he actually rips my shirt off of me, buttons flying everywhere.
“HOTCH!” He stops, looking at me.
“Try again, sweetheart.”
“Sorry. Daddy.”
“Much better. And Daddy will buy you a new one, okay?” I nod, suddenly unable to think as he slides off my tank top and unclasps my bra. My nipples are aching to be touched and as if he can read my mind, his head dips down to take my left nipple in his mouth. I suck in a breath, my hand coming to rest on the back of his head. His tongue laves over my nipple, and I swear I see God for a moment. He moves to the other side and my cunt is begging for attention. He slides my skirt and panties off without once leaving my chest. And when I’m naked before him, he kisses his way up my throat, leaving hickeys that will definitely be hard to hide.
“Daddy, people will see.”
“And? They should know whom you belong to.” He says plainly, he leans back, admiring my form and my hips jump up on their own accord, grazing his weeping tip in the process.
“Fuck, princess, don’t do that.”
“Please, please, please, Daddy, I need you so bad.”
“Daddy has to make sure you’re ready for him. I don’t know if my fat cock will fit in your tight little pussy.” I whimper at his words, more turned on than I’ve ever been in my entire life. He slides down my body, pressing kisses into my skin as he goes until he gets on his knees, dragging me towards the edge of the bed. He slings both of my legs over his shoulder, pressing a chaste kiss into my thigh. “Your pussy is dripping for me, princess. Can I taste it?”
“Please,” I manage to whisper, and I watch as his head dips down and he licks up my pussy. He groans against my clit when he tastes me, and I shout in surprise at the added stimulation. He chuckles against me and goes to work, tongue thrusting shallowly in me before coming up to tease my clit. He’s getting me closer to the edge and when I feel two of his fingers slide into me easily, I sigh contentedly. He finds the spongy spot inside of me with ease, hitting it every time he thrusts his fingers into me. I’m hurtling towards my peak when I gasp out, “Daddy, please, I’m close, can I cum? Please? I’ll be a good girl, I promise. Your good girl.” His eyes flick up and he watches me, never stopping, and watches as my abdomen tenses and I start to clench around his fingers, panting. He pulls his mouth away from me just long enough to whisper,
“You can let go, princess.” And resumes his torturous pace on me. My hand shoots down to grip his hair and a few seconds later my orgasm rips through me. I shout loudly, hips moving with abandon against his face, and he doesn’t let up, continuing to lick and finger me through it until I’m twitching with overstimulation.
“Daddy, please, too much.”
“You wanted to cum, princess, so you’re going to cum until I’m done.” He growls and goes back to eating me out. I had no time to come down from my first orgasm and my body is already sprinting full speed ahead toward my second. My thighs clench around his face but it doesn’t stop him. He stills his fingers inside me and simply presses them into my G-spot, never letting up, just putting constant pressure on it.
I’m babbling at this point, nothing coherent coming from my lips except for ‘daddy’ and ‘please’. My orgasm blindsides me and I clench hard around his fingers and scream, not caring if anyone can hear me. My vision goes spotty as I continue to cum until he finally slips his fingers out and I feel like I can breathe again. I’m gasping for air as his touch trails along my hips.
“Still with me, pretty girl?” I nod still gasping. “Color?”
“Green, green, green.” I pant out quickly and he chuckles. He gives me a few more seconds to come down, tracing gentle patterns into my sides and he kisses me once my breathing slows. I pull away to bite my way down his neck, leaving my own marks on him. “Daddy, need you inside me, please.”
“Are you sure you’re ready for me, princess?”
“Yes! Yes! So ready! Please just fuck me!”
“Okay, let me grab a condom.”
“No!” I shout, grabbing his shoulders. “I’m clean. Please, I want to feel you. Just you.”
“You’re going to be the death of me, you know that?” He says, kissing the tip of my nose. I watch as he pumps himself a few times and lines up with my entrance. He pushes in, just barely, and stays there until I’m begging him to push the rest of the way in.
“Please, Daddy, I want to feel full. I feel so empty.” He sheathes himself in me in one quick motion and I gasp. “Thank you, Daddy,” I whisper onto his lips.
“Fucking hell, Y/N, you’re so goddamn tight.” He’s still above me, and I can see his shoulders shaking in restraint. “You feel like heaven.”
“Please move, please. Let go, I can take it.” I whisper, peering into his eyes and he pulls out a little bit to thrust shallowly. He swallows my moan with his lips, kissing me with the fervor of a man starved. He starts off at a slow pace and despite being sensitive from my previous two orgasms, I need more. I dig my nails into his shoulder. “Please, for the love of God, fuck me. Hard. Please. I can take it. All of it.” He looks at me hard, searching for any hesitation, but his dick is literally inside of me, so there’s no hesitation on my part. I nod up at him and he leans down to kiss me as he starts to set a brutal pace. His hips are slamming against mine and when I shift my hips up to meet his thrusts he hits my G-spot with every thrust. “SHIT!” I shout, the words quickly turning into a loud moan as his thumb comes down to flick at my clit. I’m shaking with arousal, and I can feel his balls slap against my ass with how hard he’s fucking me.
“Come on, pretty girl, I know you’ve got one more in you. Give it to Daddy. I want to feel you cum around my cock.” There are no thoughts in my head anymore, everything in me has zeroed in on the feeling of him literally fucking me into the mattress. “You look so pretty fucked out like this, bet you can’t think of anything but my cock inside of you, huh?” I nod and he laughs, kissing me hard. He leans back just enough to change the angle by shifting my calf onto his shoulder. He thrusts, hard, and I whimper. “You make such pretty sounds when I’m fucking you.” He picks up the pace again, moving his thumb on my clit in tight circles. I let out a broken moan as he hits just the right spot inside of me, and he takes note of it, hitting the same spot repeatedly, thumb keeping its pace on my clit. It’s overwhelming and I know that this orgasm is going to ruin other men for me. No one can do it like him. “Y/N,” his voice is low, “Look at me, baby, I want to watch you fall apart.” I drag my eyes open and look at him with dazed eyes. One particularly hard thrust and a drag of his thumb over my clit and I’m cumming violently, thrashing against him and gripping the bed sheets, my body spasming and I feel him fuck me through it and spill inside of me with a shouted curse before I black out.
I come to and can feel a warm washcloth being dragged between my legs gingerly. I hiss at the contact.
“Oh, thank god, are you okay?” I nod, throat raspy from screaming. “Can I get you anything?” I shake my head no, and the warm washcloth returns, I jump at the sensation. “I know, I have to clean you up though, okay?” He finishes in the next couple of moments and throws the washcloth into the hamper.
“How long was I out?” I say softly.
“Five minutes? Maybe six.” I nod.
“Sorry.”
“Sorry? Y/N, that was the biggest ego boost I’ve had in years.” He chuckles and I let out a weak laugh.
“Help me up?” I whisper, holding my hands out toward him. He obliges, gently grabbing my hands and pulling me into a sitting position. My vision starts to go spotty again. “Oh, Jesus,” I say, starting to slump forwards. His arms wrap around me quickly, holding me against his chest until my vision starts to return to normal. His thumbs are rubbing my back and I wish I could stay in this moment forever. “I’m okay, I think,” I whisper after a minute and try to pull away but he only lets me get a few inches away, eyes worriedly searching my face. “Hotch, I’m fine. I swear. Now let me go so I can go pee.” He lets go of me slowly and when I stand up to walk toward the bathroom, my legs buckle underneath me. “Oh, come on!” I exclaim, but Hotch is right there to catch me. He scoops me up despite my protests and carries me bridal style to the bathroom, setting me down on the toilet. “Thank you,” I whisper, suddenly embarrassed.
“No, don’t do that. I can see you trying to hide, getting embarrassed.”
“Am I that obvious?”
“Yeah, when your guard is down, you’re easy to read.”
“So, uh, do we just pretend this never happened? Go back to the way things were. I assume that’s what you want?” I bury my face in my hands, unable to look at him.
“Go back to the way things were? Y/N, baby, no. I can’t go back. This was not a one-time thing. I’m yours if you’ll have me.” I peek at him from between my fingers.
“Wait, you’re being serious right now?”
“Dead serious.” He gets on his knees in front of me. “I’ve wanted you from the first moment you walked into my office. I just didn’t think you’d reciprocate, until Morgan made a comment two months ago about your body language, and that’s when I had the hunch you felt the same way.”
“So, you’ve known I’ve been pining over you for months and didn’t think to say anything?” My pitch gets higher as the sentence goes on.
“I didn’t want to make you uncomfortable.”
“Yes, I’m clearly uncomfortable with you as I’m sitting in front of you, naked,” I say drily and he laughs again.
“Yeah, I know, I’m an idiot.”
“Yes, you are,” I say, smiling, before adding, “But you’re my idiot.” His eyes brighten at that.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. As you said, I’m yours if you’ll have me.”
“Good. Because I’m never letting go of you.” I feel my cheeks grow warm.
“Good, because I don’t want you to.”

Troubled Mind: Part One
Tumblr media
Josh Kiszka x fem reader
18+ MINORS DNI
Warnings: Unprotected penetrative sex, male oral sex, mild teasing, mild horror
Synopsis: You and Josh spend your spare time on tour exploring old abandoned buildings. When an old church gives you more than you bargained for, you find yourself in the middle of a tale of danger and intrigue.
Troubled Mind: Part One
Josh was on his way and you still weren't ready yet. Sitting on the bed of your hotel room overlooking Charleston, you were desperately trying to achieve the perfect dutch braid, but your nervous fingers just weren't working like you wanted them to. Josh always had the abilty to make you clumsy and unsure of yourself with his presence. Not on purpose, of course, but he'd flash you a knowing, toothy grin or squeeze your arm or leg with just the right amount of pressure and it made you melt. It felt like you had been in a will he/won't he limbo for a while now and you weren't the type of girl to come forward and talk about your feeling. No way in hell.
You had just gotten your braids exactly how you wanted them when a knock startled you. You shot up like someone lit the bed on fire. As you walked to the door, you adjusted your olive green tank top that hugged you in all the right places and did a quick mirror check to pull out some baby hairs from your braid and flatten out your black linen shorts. You opened the door and he gave you the biggest, most perfect smile that made his brown eyes sparkle. "Hey, you! How's it goin?" He said excitedly. Josh was always like this. He always greeted you like you were the most important person on earth to him. It made your stomach do cartwheels, which seemed to double when he pulled you in for a tight hug.
"Oh hey! Let me get my shoes on and I'll be ready," you replied, grinning as you broke away from the hug. "Well come in, I'm not gonna make you wait in the hall." He followed you into your hotel room and sat on the office chair by the desk. As he looked around the rather nice hotel room, he remarked, "We put you up real nice, don't we?"
"Yeah, this is one of the nicer ones! They have room service!" You blushed a little after you said that. You weren't used to hotels with room service outside of touring with Greta Van Fleet. In fact, you weren't used to any of the lavish perks that came with being their makeup artist. They took a chance on you, a girl who was just dipping her feet in the entertainment industry doing hair and makeup. He gave you a knowing, kind smile and changed the subject. "So this place we're going to is pretty far out. I didn't want to go to one of the usual spots where people go to explore, ya know? Off the beaten path and all that."
"You mean you didn't want to go on a guided tour of the Old Charleston Jail? I'm SHOCKED, Joshua," you said with a laugh. You had gotten your shoes on and grabbed your flashlight by this point. "Well, I'm ready!" He stood up and let you lead the way out the door and out of the hotel.
These little adventures you went on with him started at the beginning of the tour. You both had a mutual love for Ghost Adventures and laughed about Zak Bagins' dramatic "demon attacks" often. One day, you both agreed that you wanted to try exploring abandoned building yourselves. Every time there were a couple days of break in the tour, the two of you would find a spot and explore it for an evening. There was usually nothing there but the excitement of possibility and spending one on one time with him made it all worth it.
You hopped into the truck the he rented. It smelled like him: Clean and woodsy. The drive through Charleston was filled with ethically questionable horse carriages, tourists, ghost tours, and beautiful old buildings. Despite being here several times, you were always taken with the charm of this little town. Pretty soon though, you were reminded that Charleston was, in fact, in South Carolina. Beautiful cobblestone roads were replaced by highways in disrepair and trees. So many trees.
"So, what do you think will be at this church?" you asked. Josh raised his eyebrows and turned down the music. The ride had been mostly quiet. You both were deep in thought, it seemed, and he was a little surprised at your awkward break in the silence.
"Well, uh," he chuckled a little bit. "The guy I met at the bar said it had a bit of a reputation. People usually don't last long before they hightail it outta there. Something's there, but he *said* that he doesn't know what. Speaking of which, we're almost there."
He seemed more nervous than usual. Josh was usually a chatter box but he seemed to have a lot on his mind. You did as well, as your feelings for him seem to grow with every little glance in his direction.  You pulled down the truck mirror to check your makeup. It was very light, just a little blush, concealer, lip gloss, and mascara. Of course it looked fine, but you were doing it to distract yourself from him.
The truck slowed down as he pulled onto a bumpy dirt road. There was a sign that was faded and dirty. It looked hand painted: "First Baptist Church." Josh seemed to hit every pot hole on the short road to the church. When you finally got to the building, you could feel the heaviness that surrounded it before you even got out of the truck.
It was small and dilpitated. The steeple was missing boards and the cross was barely hanging on, which felt particularly ominous. The paint was peeling off. What was once a pristine white church was now rotting and falling apart. You might've felt sad if it wasn't for the exisitental dread that was consuming you. "Fuck, thats so creepy," Josh said, barely above a whisper. You looked over and he was smiling and excited. Did he not feel the dread?
Maybe his excitement that he gets to spend time with you is stronger than that, you thought.  But that felt silly, almost egotistical, to assume that you were the reason for his happiness. You chose to say nothing and walked closer to the church, despite every fiber of your being begging you not to. Josh caught up to you and gave you hand a little squeeze.
"Are you scared? You're not saying much," he said. It was like the little bastard knew that you had such big feelings for him. You don't know if it was the stifling heat or blushing but your cheeks turned red.
"I'm fine," you lied. "You haven't been talking much either. You're usually such a chatter box."
"Oh I have things on my mind, love," he replied. "But now isn't the time to talk about them. Let's go inside."
Love? LOVE?! You almost fell to your knees. You entered the church with him, hand in hand. The inside was in slightly better shape than the outside, but it was clear that time and the elements had done their work. There were a couple of pews still there and the alter was still in tact. The floor was covered by leaves, debris, and trash from other people who used this place as a hangout. The sunlight, orange as the sun was setting, peeked through every little crack and missing board on the walls. It was haunting and beautiful. You looked over to Josh, who seemed just as taken with it as you were. You both saw the beauty in things that other people didn't and it bonded you.
You started walking toward the nearest pew, watching the ground closely for snakes. The dread and heaviness had only gotten worse since you entered the church. You were nervous and felt like you were very much not welcome here. You braced yourself on the pew to collect your thoughts. What the fuck is going on? Have you guys come to a place that's actually haunted? What happened here? What has made this place its home?
Your thoughts were interrupted by your waist being grabbed from behind. You let out a scream and turned around. Of course it was Josh, laughing at his very unfunny, shitty little prank. You must've looked as terrified as you felt because his face fell as soon as he saw yours.
"Hey, hey," his voice was low and calm. You were trying to catch your breath and you were angry at how stupid you felt and how embarassed you were. "I'm sorry, okay? I didn't realize that would scare you so bad. Come here."
He beckoned you into a hug. You let him embrace you. Despite how sweaty he was, he somehow still smelled fresh and clean. You closed your eyes and let the hug take you over, feeling almost immediate comfort. Josh broke away slightly, just enough to lift your chin just enough so your eyes met.
You knew at that moment why he'd be quiet all day, why you'd catch him looking at you, why he wanted to spend time with you. You knew for sure, in this moment, that he was just as in love with you as you were with him. His big, beautiful brown eyes told the entire story. He gave you a little questioning nod and you smiled back. He leaned in and your lips met.
Josh's lips were soft and yet he was kissing you hard, as if he had wanted this his entire life. Your hands were exploring each others' bodies. He grabbed your ass while you entagled your fingers into his slightly damp hair, his other hand on your face and you pulled him in closer. You couldn't remember either of you shedding your clothes but soon you were both naked and you couldn't tell where his body ended and yours began.
You wanted show him exactly what he meant to you. You broke the kiss and he gave you a sad look...which turned into excitement as soon as he realized what you were doing. You kneeled down in front of him. HIs cock was perfect, just like the rest of him. His hair was perfectly groomed and his dick was just the right size. You could see the precum coming out of the tip. You lightly licked it off, causing him to let out a moan. You started to squeeze his balls as you lightly flicked your tongue up and down his shaft. Your other fingers were lightly tapping whichever part of his dick you weren't licking. He moaned and jerked, occasionally thrusting his cock like he wanted to fuck your face.
"Baby, please. Please suck it," He said breathlessly. You gave him a coy little grin. "What? Like this?" You popped the head in your mouth, sucked it a little and pulled it out like a lollipop. He groaned. "Oh my fucking god, suck it. PLEASE." You giggled and he growled. Finally, you took his whole dick into your mouth. Oh, how amazing it was! You sucked on it with various pressure, sliding your mouth up and down the shaft. You let your tongue dance around it, paying close attention to the head. Josh was slightly fucking your face and moaning. You enjoyed giving him pleasure almost as much as he enjoyed receiving it but you wanted him inside of you desperately. You pulled him completely out of your mouth.
He said nothing. Instead he growled. You barely stood up before his mouth was on yours and he was kissing you hard. He pushed you against the nearest wall and hiked your leg up by his hip.
"Tell me you want it," he said in a low voice. It caught you off guard. "What?"
"Tell me you want my dick, y/n," he was smirking. You HAD control, but not anymore. It was his turn now.
"I want it," you said. He took his cock in his free hand and rubbed it over your clit several times. You whimpered a little. This fucker was paying you back. He positioned his cock at the opening of your pussy and pushed in just a little. Just enough to make you squirm. "What is it that you want, honey?"
"Your cock. I want your cock inside of me. Please, Josh. Please," And just like that he pushed all the way in and you moaned. This was pure heaven. He stayed all the way in before he started fucking you. At first it was slow and hard. He was taking you all in, staring at you with hungry eyes, grabbing your tit and rolling your nipple in his finger. You didn't know where you ended and Josh began, you just knew that this is what you always wanted. You could see sweat rolling down his face and chest. His hair, once slightly damp, was soaked now. He fucked you faster and got into a groove. He went balls deep inside of you with every thrust and it made you see stars. You were no virgin but you had never been fucked like this. He put every feeling he had been bottling up into every thrust and you knew, for the first time, a man was going to make you cum with his dick.
He kissed you hard, cupping your face with his hands. He started fucking you harder and you knew he was close and you were too. Your body began to shudder and you let out a loud scream at the same time as he let out a final moan. As he filled you up, you could feel every muscle in your body tense up, then release. Pure fucking ecstasy. He stayed in you for a few seconds and your eyes met. His dark honey eyes were soft and sweet and he was smiling like he was looking at the most beautiful person he'd ever seen. You couldn't believe that he was choosing you.
He finally broke the silence, "I've been wanting to do that for so long."
You returned the smile and gave him a deep kiss. He finally pulled out and walked over to his clothes. You didn't notice until this point that he had a small bag with him. He bent over and pulled out a few napkins and handed them to you. You gave him a look. "Did you plan this?"
He chuckled, "Like I said, I've wanted it for a while. I wanted to be prepared!" You gave him a smile. You were putting your clothes on and the feelings of heaviness and doom once again creeped in. Fucking around with Josh had been a nice distraction from it. At this point, the sun was almost completely set but it was still bright out. Of course it was a full moon. Crazy shit always seemed to happen on the full moon.
"Ah, a full moon," it was like Josh was reading your mind. "Do you think we'll find something here? The guy I talked to said strange shit always happens." "What guy?", you asked.  You hadn't thought about how Josh might've found this place.
Josh began to tell the story of him and Jake going to this old dive bar in Charleston. A hole in the wall, so they could drink and eat oysters without anyone bothering them. They began talking to an older regular who told them all about this place and the strange encounters. Everything from people hearing whispers, to people being threatened by things they couldn't see, to people even getting shoved or scratched.
"Scratched? What the fuck?" you said. The stories made you a little more worried than you already were.
"Yeah, fucking scratched. But this church seemed so cool, I really wanted to check it out. Does make me feel a little weird-"
CRACK. You screamed as a massive beam broke from the ceiling. Josh pulled you towards him as the piece of wood crashed onto the ground below, right where you were standing. He pulled you into another hug. You were shaking. God, that thing could have killed you and he saved you. You felt tears well up in your eyes.
"Shhh, shh, now, honey. You're safe, I'm here," once again, he broke away from you, this time to wipe the tears from your eyes. You composed yourself, feeling slightly embarassed that he had to save you like a damsel in distress. "You know, anyone would be scared from that. Fuck, I'm scared, that could've been so much worse."
It was like he read your mind. He let you go and gave you a little kiss on the forehead. "We can go if you want!"
"No, no, I'm fine now," you lied. You weren't fine but you didn't want to show any more vunerabilty tonight than you already had. It was fully dark by now so Josh pulled a small lantern out of his bag. Somehow, seeing everything around you made it even creepier. It made everything look...wrong.
Your eyes seemed to focus on one thing: the window across the church. Most of the stained glass was gone, except for the edges at the very top. It felt as if someone or something was watching you through it. Josh must've felt it as well because he was squinting at it when you looked over to him. You were still on edge from the beam falling, but you were curious as to what had its eyes on you.
At the same time, you both stepped forward to investigate. "You feel it too," he stated. "Someone is looking at us."
He grabs your hand as you both slowly continue to lessen the distance between yourselves and the window. You had been in many abandoned, haunted buildings with and without Josh but this one felt...real. Dangerous. It was as exciting as it was terrifying. As you got closer, your stomach started doing backflips. Josh squeezed your hand, giving you a small bit of comfort. At least you were not alone.
You were within a yard of the window when you started making out what was beyong it. Trees covered in Spanish moss, an old, unkempt graveyard with headstones cracked and lying on their sides. A worn statue of what looked like a little girl, which made your stomach turned. And just beyond the closest tree, someone.
"Do you see...?" Josh trailed off. " Hiding behind that tree on the left."
"Yeah, I-" then you realized the tree you were looking at was on the right. You looked to the left. There was another person. Your stomach dropped and you stopped breathing. "Josh, there's two of them."
"If only that was the case, sweetheart," Josh said. His voice was a low whisper. He was right: everywhere you looked outside, there was a figure. They all had hoods and robes so you couldn't see their faces. None of them moved and despite not seeing their faces, you could feel all of their eyes on you.
"We gotta get the fuck out of here," you could barely hear your voice come out of your mouth. You were frozen in fear. THUMP THUMP THUMP.  Your heart was beating so hard you were sure everything out there could hear it.
You saw one stir out of the corner of your eye but before you could process it, you were being pulled towards the door. Josh had seen it move before you did and was taking you to the truck. Your legs were involuntarily running. He opened the doors up with his body and led you through towards the truck. The slightly cooler air would've felt great in any other circumstance.
You glanced behind you and those hooded figures were no longer stationary, they were running after you. The truck was only a few feet away but it felt like a mile. Josh unlocked the truck as you approached it. Your hands broke free of one another as he got into the driver seat and you in the passenger. The doors slammed at the same time and he locked the doors just as the first figure caught up and slammed his hand on the window. It then that you realized...
The hooded figures were not human. They had human features: skin, eyes, nose, mouth, but they weren't human.  Everything was there, but slightly...off.  Like a very realistic mask. You had never been more terrified than you were in the moment when that creepy fuck was banging its very large hand on your window. You felt the car lurch backwards and there was a thud. "SHIT! FUCK!" One of them had been hit and you could feel the wheels roll over them. Josh quickly put the truck in drive and ran it over again as he sped down the dirt road. You turned around and they had all stopped and stared at you. The one that had been run over, the one you were sure was dead, lifted itself up and stood back up.
What. The. FUCK.
Josh pulled onto the highway so fast the tires squealed. You couldn't see the church from the highway but you could see those humanoid creatures had walked onto the highway to stare at you leaving. They weren't trying to catch up, they were just...staring.
Josh didn't let off the accelerator until the truck hit 90 and you begged him to slow down.
"What if they're following us?", his voice cracking a little. It was a little comforting to know he was as scared as you were.
"I promise you they're not. They would've gotten us by now," you replied. He nodded and took several deep breaths. For a while you sat in silence, both trying to process the events of the night.
After what felt like hours of silence, you pipe up. "Did you know they have alligators here?"
Josh started to laugh. His face lit up as if you'd brought him back to life. "We just ran for our lives from inhuman creatures and you bring up alligators to break the tension? You're so cute."
You blushed and held back a smile. "I just thought, you know, a fun fact would make you feel better."
"Baby, just your presence is enough for me, but thanks," you could tell he meant it. He reached over and grabbed your hand. When he stopped at the next stop sign, he leaned in and gave you a passionate kiss.
You finally arrived back in Charleston. As you pulled up to your hotel, you expected him to stop, but he drove right past it.
"Did you forget to take me back?" you asked, but you already knew what he was about to say. Your stomach was doing back flips again, but this time it was out of excitement.
"You're staying with us," he said. He seemed serious. "I don't want you to be alone. You can stay in my bedroom and I'll take the couch."
"That's absolutely not happening, Josh. You're not sleeping on the couch. Unless you just don't want to sleep with me."
"Of course I do," he scoffed. "I was being a gentleman!"
You gave a little coy grin as he pulled into their rental house. It was exactly what you expected from a home in Charleston. An old home on a narrow lot, lawn perfectly manicured and home beautifully restored. It had a wrap around porch with a matching balcony. As you walked up the brick steps into the side door, you noticed the haint blue ceiling on the porch and brooms by every outside doorway. Those old southern tales ran deep.
The side door led right into the kitchen, which was huge and gorgeous. Equally as gorgeous were the men in the kitchen. Danny and Sam were making themselves cocktails while Jake was making a massive meal.
"HONEY I'M HOME," Josh yelled, causing all three of them to look up. Not a single one of them looked surprised.
"Well, its about time!" Sam said, almost as loudly as Josh yelled. "Dinner's almost done and you just roll on in last minute!"
Jake looked over his shoulders and gave you a smile. "Did he finally make a move?"
"I-well-"
"-you don't have to answer him, y/n," Josh said. "Sorry, you know how they can be..."
"We're just...joshing around hahaha," Sam gave Josh a nudge that earned him a dark glare. Then he made his way over to you and gave you a big hug. "How ya doin?"
"Good, good," you manage to reply. The Kiszkas were loud and joked around a lot but they were all so kind and caring towards you. Danny finished his drink and walked over, giving you a tight hug as well.
"For real, we're happy for you," he said. "Josh has been carrying a torch for you for a while."
"OKAY, well, we're going to freshen up bye now," Josh pulled you through the kitchen and up the nearest stairwell. It led up to a hallway lined with doors and he led you to the last one.
"It was my turn this time, I get the biggest room," he said. It was massive. Facing the door was a huge, brick fireplace. Across from the fireplace was what looked like the most comfortable bed you've ever seen. Then you noticed the French doors that led to the balcony.
"God, its beautful," you whispered. You had never been in a place so nice before. You crossed the room straight to the doors. You opened them up and the breeze hit your face. The night air was cool, a stark difference from the day time. You could see lights everywhere and tourists walking excitedly down the sidewalks. The steeples of churches in the Holy City were everywhere. You sat down in the nearest rocking chair. Josh sat down in the one beside it.
"Sorry about them," he said again. "Brothers, you know?"
"Oh," you laughed. You honestly expected their reactions. "I don't mind."
Josh didn't respond. You were confused because his expression was odd..melancholy, inquisitive...dark.
"What are you thinking about?" Dread filled your body because you already knew. The air seemed to get colder, the night seemed to get darker, and the only person that mattered at this moment was Josh.
"What do you think those things were?" he asked. You had spent the entire ride home thinking about the creatures. They weren't human, that was for sure, but beyond that, you only had guesses.
"Zombies?" you blurted out, knowing good and damn well they weren't. Josh shook his head. "You and I both know they weren't zombies."
You turned your attention back out to the streets. A ghost tour was walking by. The guide was carrying a lantern at eye level, leading all the tourists to their next spooky destination. You wondered how they would react to the creatures you saw at the old church. You turned again to Josh, who was deep in thought. The silence on the balcony seemed to drown out the people below, as your focus was only on him. You knew what he was going to say next and your heart sank when he finally said those five words.
"I want to go back."

Love Me Tender
68’ Comeback Special Blurb - Requested
Ada is watching Elvis perform from backstage and gets hurt.
Elvis had gone back out for his summer tour and you had decided to stay behind with the twins, not wanting to add more chaos and stress to his tour. But also the constant traveling wouldn't be fun for them. But Ada still wanted to go, she loved seeing her daddy perform and she wouldn't miss it for the world. She was his biggest fan and she begged to still be able to go. You didn't know how to feel about that because you were always the one to keep an eye on her, but Jerry assured you that he'd look after her while Elvis was working and that he'd make sure she was okay. You trusted Jerry because he truly cared for Ada and always treated her like his own. You hesitantly agreed. But naturally as a mother you worried. But Elvis also assured you that'd she be okay. It would be the first time that you were away from her for so long and the first time Elvis would be on full-time daddy duty when he wasn't working of course. So you did your best to pack her clothes for everyday so he wouldn't have to worry. But you knew he'd probably end up buying her more wherever they were.
You joined them at the airport with a few of the guys to see them all off and after you kissed and said goodbye to Elvis, he watched as you hugged Ada so tight that she let out a soft groan. "Mama hurting me.." she mumbled. You quickly loosened your grip and pulled back with tears welling up in your eyes, but holding back so she wouldn't get upset. "I'm sorry, baby. I'm just gonna miss you." you smiled. She leaned up to kiss your cheek. "I'm gonna miss you too, mama!" she smiled. "You be a good girl, okay?" you said softly, brushing a hand over her head. She nodded. "I will!" she said excitedly as Elvis grabbed a hold of her hand. You stood back up and quickly wiped your eyes and Elvis pulled you into a hug. "She's gonna be okay, ya big cry baby. We'll be back in no time." he chuckled. You laughed softly, nodding at his words. Then you walked back over to the car where Lamar was waiting for you and you waved to them both as you watched board the plane with the guys.
July 12, 1975 - Charleston, WV
This was the fourth stop of his tour and his show was later tonight. So far things seemed to be going good and Ada was having the most fun. Though she did have a tantrum here and there, but nothing Elvis couldn't handle. The both of them would call you every night before bed and she'd tell you about her whole day. She slept in his bed at every hotel they've been to so far even though she always had her own bed. But she would be too scared to sleep alone. Elvis figured they'd probably be sharing a bed the entire tour, which he didn't mind. He liked knowing she was safe beside him. He had ordered up some breakfast for the two of them and he liked to make sure to spend some time with her during the day before he had to get ready for his show in the evening. Once it was show time he'd always help get her ready. She was sporting her one of her favorite t-shirts, an Elvis shirt and black sequin leggings with her little pink sneakers. Elvis had gotten one of the wives to help do her hair.
She watched as Elvis got ready for his show and he was showcasing one of his new jumpsuits, when he came out in it her eyes widen and she gasped. "Daddy looks handsome!" she giggled. He smiled at her words. "Thank you, Addy." he said softly as some of the guys helped him. Ada sat there playing with her barbies and looking up every so often at him. "Daddy?" she said softly. "Yes?" he responded. "You sing my favorite song?" she asked sweetly. He smiled at her words, turning to face her. "That depends. What's your favorite song, baby?" he teased. She giggled softly, tapping her little index finger against her chin. “Yuv me tender!” she squealed. He raised an eyebrow at her, chuckling. “You mean love me tender?” He said softly. “That’s what I said, daddy.” She beamed. He laughed. “Okay, baby, I’ll sing that song just for you.” He nodded. Before long Elvis was kissing her goodbye and heading out to get ready to take the stage and Ada stayed with Jerry before it was time to go.
Whenever Ada had watched his shows he always made sure she wore her special headphones to protect her ears from all the loud noises from the band. Especially when she watched from backstage. Jerry had gotten her headphones on and he picked her and carried her to the side of the stage and they both watched as Elvis entered from the other side. She clapped happily and she had the biggest smile on her face seeing her daddy. She was always so proud of him. She had seen enough of his shows and listened to so many of his albums that she knew some of the songs and would try to sing along. Jerry put her down after a while and he smiled as she began dancing and singing along to ‘Hound Dog’. One of her shoes got caught in a wire on the floor and she ended up tripping and falling face forward onto the ground, scraping her right elbow, she began crying hysterically.
Jerry came running to her side, helping her up and doing the best he could to soothe and comfort her, but nothing was working. She kept crying and now she was calling out for Elvis, holding her elbow. “Owie..” she cried. “It’s okay, Addy, uncle Jerry can fix it. Your daddy is busy right now.” He said doing his best still to calm her down. “No!” She cried and she wiggled out of Jerry’s grip, needing her daddy to kiss it better because to her he was the only one to make her owies better. She ran out as he was just about to finish the song until the crowd let out a collective, “Aww.” when they saw her running out. Elvis raised an eyebrow not knowing what they were doing that for until he looked over to see Ada.
He laughed softly, stopping the song. “Say hi to my little daughter folks!” When she approached him he finally saw that she was in tears. That’s when he quickly kneeled down in front of her, holding the microphone away from himself. “What’s the matter, baby? What happened?” He whispered frantically. “I got owie, daddy.” She said through her little tears and she lifted her right arm up to show him her scraped elbow. “You kiss it better?” She pouted. “Aw, ‘course I will, baby.” He nodded. He brought the microphone back up to his lips. “Timeout folks, she’s got an owie.” He said with a soft laugh trying to keep the crowd entertained before passing over the microphone to Charlie as he tended to her. The crowd watched the both of them and they couldn’t stop “awwing” the entire time as he took her little arm into his hands and he peppered several kisses over her scraped arm. She giggled quietly from his kisses tickling her elbow.
“How’s that? All better? Or does her need one more kiss?” He asked in their baby talk with a smile. “Her need one more, satnin.” She said softly, rubbing her wet eyes. He nodded with a wide smile as he gave her elbow two extra kisses. “Him make her owie all better now.” He said softly. She giggled even more as she began to feel better, looking at her elbow and smiling because her daddy made it all better like he always does. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders and hugged him. “Daddy’s all sweaty, honey.” He said with a laugh. But she didn’t care. She hugged him tighter. “Thank you, daddy.” She whispered to him. He held her tight in his arms and he just smiled. The crowd was loving every adorable moment of it.
She pulled back from him. “Daddy sing my favorite song now?” She said as she looked at him with those familiar big blue eyes of her. He nodded. “Anythin’ for you, baby.” He hummed. He lifted her up into his arms as he stood back up and he took the microphone back from Charlie and apologizing to the crowd once again, but they didn’t mind one bit. They thought Ada was so adorable. She waved to all his fans, smiling. “I’m gonna sing one of my daughter’s favorite songs, a song from my first movie, ladies and gentlemen.-“ before he could even finish his sentence the crowd was cheering already knowing what it was. “The songs called Love Me Tender.” He grinned cheekily. She smiled happily once he began to sing.
He was singing directly to her as he held her in his arms, reciting these lyrics specifically.
You have made my life complete, and I love you so..
Love me tender, love me true. All my dreams fulfilled..
For my darlin’, I love you.. And I always will..
After singing those few lines to her he planted a big kiss to her cheek and continued singing her favorite song.

22-28 January 2024
Starting a little weekly journal, just because :)
Started taking an evening class through the local university, just for fun. It's on ghost stories & supernatural horror in American literature; I'm looking forward to being forced to start reading a bunch of stories I just haven't gotten around to yet, and to the class discussions on how America's religious and cultural history has influenced our literature, and our interpretation of others' literature.
Work suddenly got busy, which is good, because my brain does not do well when it's slow. However, it was the full-moon-everyone-goes-crazy kind of busy, which means lots of messes to clean up next week.
Getting excited for spring events for my other job; I need to plan details for my next Charleston trip and get photos/videos of our new tours.

It's warm enough for sundresses but juuuuust cool enough to still need a sweater. I'm not ready for summer heat, but I'm loving having all the windows open. Also mentally planning the tattoo(s) I want to get this year...
Finished reading Venus & Aphrodite: A Biography of Desire. It was...fine. I had the sense that this was just barely scratching the surface, and though I'm left wanting more, the writing style was such that I'm not sure I want more from this author.
I finally finished this little crochet penguin! I'd done the body ages ago and just now did the beak and wings. He's a lil wonky, but complete, and I'm pretty happy with it for my first crochet project!
Met up with a potential housemate (meh) and went for a nice walk along a rail trail. Spotted some vultures fighting over a squirrel and was surprised to see bits left behind.

Went to a workshop on extracting and painting with natural dyes, many of which can be grown in a home garden. I think my favorites were hibiscus (gorgeous dark pink!), saxon blue (a more processed, shelf-stable indigo), and ironwood (unfortunately not readily available here but ordered in a processed form from Brazil, but makes a beautiful deep greyish purple). Attempted to paint a Georgia O'Keeffe-inspired...thing. Really it was just meditative to move a brush around.
Had a little dinner party with an ooooold friend - she made ravioli from scratch and I brought a fancy (delicious) wine I found at a shop in Savannah.
Butterball is as cuddly as ever and my heart melts every time he falls asleep on me.

well, onward, I guess!

A road trip to Savannah
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Over the weekend me and my husband went on a long awaited trip down to Savannah, Georgia. It has been on my bucket list for quite some time now, as a lover of history. The first hurdle for our trip was the drive, so we decided to stop over in Wilmington NC, a five hour drive from our home in Virginia. On the way, we couldn’t help but stop for lunch at Chapel Hill, NC where we shopped at one of my favorite book stores, flyleaf books. The used book selection is amazing and the books they recommend are pretty and modern. We stopped for lunch at this place called KoKyu which was a ghost kitchen type store, which had good food but unfortunately no indoor seating so sitting outside in the heat was rough.
Our first night in Wilmington, we stayed at the Graystone Inn, a beautiful lodging near to the river and the main street. We did have to park a few blocks down the street at their sister inn, which wasn’t too much of a hassle. It was either that or on the busy street which was already taken by other cars. The room was spacious but the TV didn’t have many options in terms of cable and the shower had this weird effect on the eyes. The main street of Wilmington, at sunset, was fun to walk around. We went to the museum of the bizarre, which was a cute quirky museum located on the riverfront. It was small and had a mirror maze which cost a bit extra. If you are interested in cryptids or have a morbid curiosity, this would be for you, taking up only ten minutes of our time.
The next day we stopped at Wrightsville beach before we got on the road to Savannah, stopping at a donut inn for a coffee and a donut. The donuts were decent but unremarkable. The beach was pleasant enough but we felt pretty rushed as it was pay to park, and we refused to do that for a brief amount of time. I always figure that beaches should also have taps to clean off sandy feet and this could have benefitted from that. The road to Savannah from Wilmington was a very boring drive taking the interstate and the highway. We did stop at a Bucc-ees in Florence, South Carolina, but were overwhelmed by the amount of people and the size. The lunch we got there, the wrap and the sandwiches were actually pretty good, my favorite being the chicken sandwich.
Our first place to visit in Savannah was Fort Pulaski, which was a old civil war fort with a moat. It was pretty similar to the other forts we have seen, but was still worth seeing with pretty views and is set up well. We didn’t spend too long here but could have spent more if we read all the placards. Afterwards, we headed to the legendary Bonnaventure cemetery. It was gorgeous and a lovely walk, but make sure to bring water as we struggled. There seemed to be a lot of tours, by walk or golf cart that was happening at the same time we got there. They did sound pretty interesting when we walked by. These tours seemed to be pretty common in Savannah as we would constantly see tour trolleys and walking tours throughout the city.
Next we headed to the Hyatt regency, Savannah which was on river street. We were going to initially park in the self parking garage they recommended if you didn’t want to park Valet, but unfortunately it was full at the time. It was much nicer than the other Hyatt Regency we stayed at which was located in Charleston, West Virginia, as it didn’t smell like smoke. However, returning later there was a weird smell in the hallway but that did not seep into our clean and nice room. Whilst not as nice a room as the Graystone, it was in a nice location and we could look directly over the river, which was not that clean or exciting of a view, but was super cool when late at night we saw two large container ships pass right by. The horn did freak us out a bit as we thought the AC was broken. The AC was loud, as they tend to be, which I don’t tend to like.
A walk down river street didn’t really impress me much, it was filled with a lot of drunk people and tacky souvenir shops and the city smelt awful. We dined at Vics River Grill where we had:
 Crab beignets which were good
Fried green tomatoes which was also really good,
She crab soup which I’m always a sucker for, which was really good,
Catfish and Grits which we didn’t really like that much, however they nicely split it  in two for us.
We walked down the mainstreet for a bit, where I stopped into a nice comic book shop, Odin and Sons, where I bought two comics. The guy at the counter was really nice and he commented that one of the comics I got, Monstress by Marjorie Liu and drawn by Sana Takeda, was really good. We were going to try Leopolds, but were shaken off by the line. When returning to the hotel, we found out that the hotel sells the ice cream in pints and smaller pottles, which was a lifesaver. I got the peanut butter chippy which was really really good. Savannah was really busy the whole time we were there.
In the morning we stopped by at Collins Quarter, where I got a chai latte and a salmon bagel. I enjoyed the bagel but wondered what the capers really added to the dish, and the chai latte was not as good as the mix you get at Trader Joe’s. It’s also described as Australian but I didn’t see much of Australia in the dishes, being from its smaller neighbour, myself. We headed to Forsyth park where they were setting up the Saturday morning farmers market which had music, and a few cute stalls of people selling food and art. We got a milk and honey popsicle from a cart there, and walked around. The popsicle was very good; it had a subdued taste. The Collin’s Quarter there had a very long line for so early in the morning. The park was fairly busy with people playing sports. It was a very pretty walk with a lot of old buildings and pretty parks. We stopped to take pictures of some churches and buildings, primarily the Basilica, which later was open and could go inside, which was absolutely recommended as it was gorgeous.  After walking around Forsyth park we walked to Colonial Cemetery, which had placards to read of the people buried there which I think would have been a cool addition to the other cemetery we went to before, Bonnaventure. There was a few tours here and it seemed to be a popular stop on the tour trolleys. We did find a cute market near the cemetery which was mildly busy, where we could buy water, Parker’s market. The houses around here were pretty. Our first tour we would take would be at the Mercer Williams house which is famous for In the garden of good and evil, and the location for swamp thing and return of swamp thing. There’s a cute shop which sells jelly cat plushies, which are adorable, where you buy your ticket, be here quickly as apparently it sells out very quickly. If we had not gone there at ten we wouldn't have been able to do the first 10:30 tour. The tour guide was informative and funny but the house itself was very small. If it wasn’t used as a filming location or had its history I don’t know if it would have been worth it. Then we popped into E Shaver bookstore, where I bought a lot of books, there was some great modern books on display, but was really busy. We also popped into the book lady bookstore, which had a few used books and I saw a couple of books I really enjoyed, but none that jumped out to me. We also tried to go to books on bay but I think they were closed permanently or we couldn’t find the door.
We knew lunch would be hard to find with the amount of people and we found a spot at Treylor park which was decent. After lunch we headed to Owens thomas house and slave quarters, which gives self guided tours after 2, since this was before two we got a really nice tour guide who showed us through the house, which exterior was getting some work and had scaffolding up. The house inside itself was decent and played a big focus on symmetry. The ticket price was fifty dollars which gets you into their other two museums Telfair academy, which had gorgeous art, and their other art museum which was more contemporary and small, which I didn’t really think was worth it. There was an interactive art where you could touch this net and colours would show, and a family seemed to enjoy it.  We walked through city market which by then was filled with drunk people and stopped by the dry museum which was totally worth it. Me and my husband do not drink but it was so cool to see the history of one of the most interesting time periods. At the end of it there is a active speakeasy which I thought was a cool addition, but smelt very heavily of beer.
We went down river street to pick up some candy from the candy company and stopped by the graveface museum, which focused on morbid curiosity. This was a dark museum, and was not busy when we went, making it quite awkward. They were adding another space as well, a glimpse into the space looked pretty cool. I don’t think I would recommend this one, unless you are super into Serial Killers. Afterwards we waited in line for Ghost and Gravestones, a trolley ghost tour at night. Our trolley we were going to use was broken which led to some confusion and delay but we were on holiday, so it didn’t really matter.  This was a good way to see the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace house, as it goes through it and there is a doll room which I guess you could find creepy. Someone else on the tour did say they felt a ghost in the house. The trolley tour was pretty funny and had some interesting ghost stories. Then they lead you to some place in river street where you are told more ghost stories including a sad one about a child. This segment of the tour is really funny and had the whole group laughing. It didn’t last very long but me and my husband are not night owls. Whilst on the tour we did see another hearse tour which also looked pretty fun. Then we tried Leopold's ice cream again but no luck, as the line was just as long. Savannah felt pretty safe around 9pm with all the crowds.
The next morning was time to leave Savannah and I was pretty sad to leave. I had a really fun time just walking around the town. My husband was excited to take me to breakfast at the original pancake house, which he loved when we went to Charlotte, NC. The waitress did forget his toast but we both enjoyed our breakfasts. I had the pancake sampler of berry peach and banana. We made plans to stop in either Augusta, GA or Colombia SC on our way to our last stop, Greenville and we decided Augusta might have been the best choice. Since we didn’t go to Colombia I can’t say if this was the best choice or not, but I think we should have chosen Colombia instead as the town was empty. Keep in mind that this was a Sunday so a lot of people were in church and businesses were closed but I just didn’t really enjoy the feel of the main street. We stopped into the book tavern where I bought Eva evergreen by Julia Abe. This bookstore was cute and the cashiers were informative about the local coffee shops and what was open.  They said that New Moon cafe was open and my husband got a sweet tea and a coffee and I got a raspberry milkshake. Now my milkshake was nice and creamy but didn’t really taste like raspberry, just like vanilla ice cream with an afterthought of berry, and my husband really liked his sweet tea but did not care for the coffee.
After a few more hours of driving we finally landed in Greenville, SC. It was also super busy. We ended up eating at Willy taco and though we didn’t really enjoy their fried green tomatoes we enjoyed the rest of the food. I liked their queso but it was really runny. The tacos were good but a bit forgettable. We decided to stop in at the local 2nd and Charles. I remember the first 2nd and Charles in Charlotte was nice but the more we went there the more disappointing it was. I did pick up You’ve reached Sam by Dustin Thao. The next stop was a mid size book store called Mr Ks used books. I did really enjoy this book store and bought quite a bit. They seem to have their best books at the front of the book store, as their shelved books were a bit older.
Downtown Greenville was busy when we arrived but it wasn’t too hard to navigate, until we ended up at the wrong hotel. The next hotel was Hyatt Place. I enjoyed this room more than I enjoyed the Hyatt regency. The room had a nice couch and had proper cups and glasses and was just nicer. It was in a really good location. We then went out and walked the main street stopping by M. Judson booksellers. This was in a really pretty location. I picked up two books. Some books were modern and some were released last year. The book selection was pretty but not much caught my eye. The main street was pretty but a lot of the stores we had already seen in Savannah including the candy company. We stopped by marble slab creamery for an ice cream, and I thought it was decent. Walking past, Jenni’s ice cream was much busier and had quite a line, and I wish we had gone there instead. The river area of Greenville was really pretty, and seemed like a great hangout spot.
On the way back home we made two stops, one to walk Blacksburg, a place we have wanted to do for a while. It felt very much like a very small college town with a very small bookstore on the main street, Blacksburg books, which had a few signed copies of some interesting books, and a very small used book section. For lunch we hopped on over to Roanoke, Crystal Spring grocery, which gave you a lot of fries. It was a decent meal.
Overall I’m sure I missed some of Savannah, I would definitely go back there, and to Willmington. I would love to do the battleship in Wilmington and the river boat tour in Savannah.

Ribcage X Andy Biersack- Part 5
Masterlist
"There's one thing you should know about me Delia Vincent, I don't date. Got no heart to break and emptiness is safe, keep it that way."
He was adamant in his choices...
...But then things changed.
Tumblr media
"Delia, are you ready to go?" Shevy asks knocking on Delia's hotel door.
"I'll be out in a minute!" Delia shouts back to Shevy through the door.
"Hey Shevy, you girls heading out today?" Lonny asks as he locks his room door.
"Hey Lon, yeah, we're going shopping, girls day." Shevy smiles at him.
"Girls day, gotcha, does that mean I can't crash and come shopping with you? I was wanting to explore Charleston but I don't think the rest of the band are awake yet." Lonny laughs slightly just as Delia walks out of her room.
"Oh, hey, Lonny right?" Delia smiles hoping she had the correct band member in front of her, it was rather difficult to get to know the guys due to Andy's hostility.
"That's me." Lonny smiles back realising how little Delia actually knows about them and vise versa.
"Lonny here was hoping to gate crash girls day because the other guys are lazy bastards." Shevy laughs whilst secretly pray the other guys were in fact asleep and did not just hear Shevy's small insult towards them.
"Yeah Lonny, you should come. It'll be fun." Delia nods; at least she would be able to get to know the guy a little better.
"let's get going then guys." Shevy grins excitedly tugging on Delia and Lonny's arms leading them to the staircase of the hotel.
------------------
"I can't wait to go back to the UK at some point. I miss Gregg's." Shevy sighs before taking a sip of her drink.
"What's Gregg's?" Delia asks confused; at present she, Shevy and Lonny were sat in a Starbucks after Lonny made the decision he needed a caffeine boost.
"It's this little bakery chain in the UK where they do cakes, pastries, bake things and stuff. It's pretty good to be honest but Shevy is obsessed. She's said multiple times that she wants to start a petition to being it to The States." Lonny laughs thinking back to when they were last in the UK with Shevy and her obsession over the store.
"That does sound rather nice to be honest. I'd be happy if that came to The States." Delia laughs.
"Thank you! See Lon, I told you I wasn't over exaggerating, it needs to happen." Shevy explains a little too excitedly. Her excitement then gets cut off by Delia's phone going off.
"Shit." Delia curses under her breath.
"Everything okay?" Lonny asks concerned but also slightly confused as to what could have shaken the girl in front of him so much.
"Call it nerdy, I turned notifications on for my phone to alert me of any breaking news in the cities we're touring in just to get an idea of what's happening." Delia begins.
"That's a pretty cool idea actually." Lonny Cuts Delia off slightly before realising Delia had not finished speaking. "Sorry Delia."
"A 25 year old women in Seattle has just been reported missing after her family haven't seen or heard from her in 48 hours." Delia continues. "Her poor family."
"Oh Shit." Shevy comments "I hope she turns up okay."
"I don't know. Something similar to this happened in Seattle a couple of years ago. I was doing the sound for a production of The Phantom of the Opera and our Christine had her sister living in Seattle at the time. The sister disappeared and 2 weeks later they found her body." Delia explains feeling herself grow pale at the memory.
"Fuck, that's awful." Shevy sighs "That must have been a right scene for the show and cast."
"Yeah it was something to say the least. I kind of came up with an idea of how myself and the stage manager could brighten the mood a little and it seemed to have a more positive motion after that but it was still hard to live with." Delia explains.
"What did you guys do?" Lonny asks.
"We went out and bought all of the cast a little gift. It wasn't a lot but it definitely broke any tension and  boosted the overall mood a little bit." Delia continues explaining.
"That's such a lovely idea." Shevy coos before thinking on the idea for a little bit. "Maybe we should buy the other guys a little souvenir or something, who knows, it may bring Andy out of his mood a little bit."
"No. No way. Pretty sure Andy already hates my guts as it is, this will just add fuel to the fire." Delia shakes her head in a bit of a panic.
"Oh come on Delia, it'll be cute." Shevy sticks to her guns trying her hardest to make Delia cave.
"Shevy, no way, it's going to be embarrassing."
------------------
"Hello hello!" Shevy grins excitedly as she, Lonny and Delia approach the rest of the group who were sat in a private booth of the hotel's dining room.
"Oh there you guys are, we were wondering where you had disappeared off to for the day." CC smiles back at the 3 members of the group who had just returned.
"We come baring gifts, it was Delia's idea." Shevy's excitement continues as she sits down next to CC.
"Well actually it was a thing I did with a previous production and Shevy thought-" Delia begins before getting cut off by Shevy.
"Delia honey, we don't need details, we have gifts. Let's give out gifts." Shevy continues to grin; this was starting to feel like Shevy was trying to set her up with the guys, more over, Andy; Delia thought. Delia would have been fine if Andy hated her the whole tour, she was here to work after all, making friends was just an added bonus for her if she was lucky enough. Never the less, Shevy seemed determined to get Andy to stop being so 'moody' as she and the rest of the band had put it so best to play along.
"Okay, so CC, we got you this cool looking bandana. I know you said your hair has been annoying you recently whilst drumming so I thought it could be of use to you." Delia starts whilst handing CC said bandana.
"Mate, this is actually great, I was looking at getting a new one to help out." CC nods ecstatically whilst looking at his gift.
"You're welcome. Jinxx, Jake, these are for you." Delia then hands over 2 different types of necklaces to the guys. "Lonny picked these out. "
So far so good. The band so far have been happy with their allocated presents and there had been no comments from Andy regarding the small gesture of gifts. Lonny, Shevy and Delia had exchanged gifts once they met outside the gift shop just to make sure no one had felt left out. Now came the truth though which had Delia inhaling a large gulp of air from nerves before moving on to the final present.
"Andy, this is for you. Lonny told me you really like Batman so when I saw this I kind of had to grab it." Delia explains nervously handing Andy a small action figure of Batman and the all famous Bat Mobile.
"This is actually really cool!" Andy exclaims with a hint of excitement in his voice before looking at the girl who had gifted him it. "Thanks Delia, I um, I appreciate it. I was kind of holding back on a comment about giving gifts out but this is great, thank you."
"I'm glad you changed your mind and held your comment." Delia laughs awkwardly which makes Andy smile at her with just as much awkwardness.
At least that went well. But Delia couldn't help but still feel cautious of Andy, Shevy was right about his mood swings, and she didn't know how much she could trust him to not snap at her again after this delightful moment. The least that could happen after this is Delia remains civil, after all, surely she had the upper hand of being the bigger person after this event. Right?

Pinta was built 16 years later to accompany the Nina. Both ships were built in Valenca, Brazil, by eighth-generation Portuguese shipwrights. It took a 20-person crew 32 months to build the Nina and 36 months to build the Pinta. It is a larger version of the archetypal caravel. Historians consider the caravel the Space Shuttle of the fifteenth century.
The Nina and Pinta set sail in 1492 with crews of 24 and 26 people, respectively. Today, each ship usually has crews of at least 10.
While in port, the general public is invited to visit the ships for a walk-aboard, self-guided tour. Admission charges are $8.50 for adults, $7.50 for seniors and $6.50 for students 5–16. Children 4 and under are Free. The ships are open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. No reservations necessary.

The Nina replica was built first when American engineer and maritime historian John Patrick Sarsfield was hired by the Virgin Islands-based Columbus Foundation to design and construct the 15th Century Caravel in 1988. The Nina was built by hand and without the use of power tools and is considered to be the most historically correct Columbus Replica ever built.
Co-designer Jonathon Nance, a British maritime historian and lead project researcher, produced the Nina's 1,919 square foot sail plan.

April 2023: It’s spring, baby, and we are busy as could be. This month flew by; I truly feel like I blinked, and it was over.
On Easter Sunday, Andrew and I drove out to the Carizza Plains to see the superbloom. We also saw some bison and so many influencers—what a treat!
I had a lovely girls’ weekend at the cabin, celebrating Olivia’s birthday. We braved the snow and mud in Calaveras Big Trees, drank at the old saloon in Columbia, and had a very funny/momentarily gross day in Murphy’s. A lady barfed at dinner and we will never forget it or stop talking about it.
The very next weekend, Andrew and I picked up Carly in Santa Barbara, and we all flew to visit my dad (and see Cheyenne) in South Carolina. It was a perfect weekend filled with so much homemade food by Jay, bocci ball, and general debauchery. We took a horse-drawn carriage tour of Charleston and had a lovely beach day on Edisto Island. We walked a lot and ate key lime pie, stayed up late and woke up early. It was great.
We spent the last weekend of April celebrating Evelyn’s first birthday and seeing friends. It was fun and hot and I’m very tired. I’m ready to (hopefully) catch my breath in May, rest as much as I can, and spend some time at home.

Top Travel Destinations in the South
Tumblr media
In January 2023, Travel + Leisure and CNN Travel compiled their annual list of top travel destinations for the year. Unsurprisingly, a number of US cities made the list of top destinations. Of the chosen cities, six were in the American South.
Two of the cities named were in the Carolinas. The January 2023 issue of CNN Travel reported that one vacation destination well worth visiting was Charleston, South Carolina. Noteworthy destinations include the Spoleto Festival and the International African American Museum, expected to open in June 2023.
Held in March, the Spoleto Festival hosts theatrical, dance, opera, and musical acts at a range of venues. The International African American Museum offers visitors the chance to tour places where Africans arrived during the slave trade. Visitors can also tour exhibitions that describe the lives of enslaved people and their descendants.
Charleston also has something for those who enjoy dining out. Food lovers can hang out at the Charles Wine and Food Festival in March. Alternatively, visitors can experience the upscale establishment Magnolia's. For a less formal night out there is Bertha's Kitchen, where visitors can try its famous red rice with sausage, fried chicken, and lima beans.
Asheville, North Carolina, is the other city that made the top destination list in the Carolinas. Travel + Leisure reports the town offers a well-rounded vacation destination. Here, tourists can partake in year-round outdoor activities, explore the city's historic sites, and enjoy sophisticated dining spots.
For example, those who like white water rafting can visit Wrong Way River Lodge, where they can stay in A-frame cabins sitting along the French Broad River. Those who want to camp comfortably can stay at AutoCamp Asheville, which will open in mid-2023. The Glamping Collective is another newly opened establishment on a 160-acre site, where visitors can stay in glass cabins and domed pods.
Essential dining establishments include the S&W Market, a food hall offering a wide array of cuisines. French Broad Chocolates and Battery Park Book Exchange are old favorites, the former offering confections and the latter a chance to sip Champagne while enjoying a good read.
Just north of these two states, Alexandria, Virginia, provides tourists with easy access to vineyards in the northern part of the state and the chance to learn more about its history. The city was home to the country's largest domestic slave trade during much of the 1800s.
Sites such as the Freedom House Museum tell the narrative of Africans forced to work as enslaved people. Furthermore, the African American Heritage Trail, which opened in 2020, features 11 historical sites narrating 200 years of African American experiences, including stops at the Torpedo Factory, where Black people worked during WWII, and Waterfront Park, a point known for it slave trafficking. Jones Park is another significant landmark where visitors can learn about Benjamin Banneker, a notable mathematician, inventor, and free man who was instrumental in surveying the new U.S. capital.
Another American favorite, Nashville, Tennessee, is in the middle of a renaissance. The Conrad, 1 Hotel, Soho House, and redesigned Hermitage House are a few of the hotels fueling this rebirth. Regarding good places to dine, visitors can head to Fifth + Broadway Complex, where they can enjoy Southern staples such as fried chicken at Hattie B's or the Assembly Food Hall, which offers varied eating establishments and bars.
In terms of nightlife, travelers can get their fill of honky-tonk bars until the wee hours of the morning. They can also head to Justin Timberlake's Twelve Thirty Club or live events, such as CMA Fest (Country Music Association Festival), which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.
For travelers looking to entertain the entire family, Central Florida offers various theme parks, such as Disney World, Epcot, and Universal City Walk, the latter offering adults a sampling of Orlando nightlife. Travelers to Disney this year can eat, breathe, and sleep Star Wars at its newly opened Star Wars: Galactic Star Cruiser, a two-night adventure. Another option is to travel southeast to Tampa and spend the day at Busch Gardens, an amusement park experience with a tropical theme.

Tumblr media
STAY :
• The Dewberry Hotel
There are also a lot of super cute boutique hotels in the the city . If you want a cheaper option you can stay across the bridge in mount pleasant which is actually closer to places like Sullivan’s island and Isle of Palms ! My sister lives in Mount Pleasant and it’s now tied for my #1 spot of places to live (with Nashville). Air B+Bs in the city or on Sullivan’s Island would also be a fun option !
EAT :
• Saltwater Cowboy - Shem’s Creek
• Church + Union
• Poogan’s Porch
• Mex1 - Sullivan’s Island
• Husk
• Nico’s
• Taco Boy - Folley Beach

Tumblr media
These are just some of the things we did while there that I LOVED . I love traveling and visiting new places but it’s very rare I say that I could see myself living there . It was always Nashville but Charleston has been added to that list . Also Sullivan’s Island was my happy place . We even got up to catch a beach sunrise one morning there ! It gives me Outer Banks vibes which I LOVE since OBX is my favorite place to take my family ! If Charleston isn’t on your list of places to visit I highly recommend adding it ! There’s so much to do there and it’s beautiful ! The history, the weather, the vibes - it’s all 💯!
And if you love Southern Charm and think Charleston looks dreamy — it’s as good as you’d think !!!
