i love when people make parallels between law and robin + their reaction to luffy.
here’s us, survivors of genocide, who’ve forfeit our right to future, hollowed out, waiting for death — but we’ll have our last dance before we go.
here’s the god of joy, who’s heart beats the song of liberation, and he dances with us, yet he refuses to let go of our hands, for him it’s not the last. like all gods, he’s selfish enough to dig his nails in, selfish enough to invite himself behind our walls and look around, unbothered. he’s smiling, he wants us to hear his song and cheer with him. he doesn’t like the empty look in our eyes, others hate it too, but the fire he wants to see burning there is not the same that burned our homes, not the same that burned the dead, instead it’s messy and childish, with no respect for orders, it’s ace and sabo, it consumes the warships but leaves us warmed. annoyed by the darkness, he burns down the pitch black forests around us, opens up the skies and asks for a party, both of us now untethered and covered in soot.
here’s us looking into the void and the void sending her child to keep us company. what is there for us to do other than laugh with him, and when we quiet down, the void is no longer there.
