Blackness Castle.
Some pics of the inside of the castle from a visit in May.
This was the stronghold of one of Scotland’s most powerful families, the Crichtons, Blackness was never destined as a peaceful lordly residence; its enduring roles were those of garrison fortress and state prison.
Sir George Crichton handed over the Crichton lands, including Blackness Castle, to James II in 1453. His dispossessed heir, James Crichton, captured the castle and held it briefly against the King, who besieged and recaptured it the same year. Blackness became a royal fortress, as well as continuing to serve as a prison, and was put into the care of a keeper, who was often the Sheriff of Linlithgow. In the 17th century, this office became hereditary in the Livingstone family.
For many years during it’s history the castle also found use as a state prison, Outlander fans will know it has also been used for the scenes set in Fort William, most notably when Jamie Fraser picked up the scars on his back after punishment handed out by his arch enemy Black Jack Randall.
Blackness Castle is in the care of Historic Environment Scotlandit is £7 for adults to visit, there are regular buses for Blackness Road near the Tesco in Linlithgow, which itself is easy to get by bus or train.
Fans of the Outlander TV show will know the castle as  Captain Jack Randall’s headquarters,  Wentworth Prison , Fort William, but it was also in the movies Mary Queen of Scots (2018) and Outlaw King (2018) as well as in the BBC miniseries Ivanhoe (1997).

lothian to start a number of new services in west lothian from december
so that's a few places in west lothian saved, as in they'll have a bus service when McGill's and horsburgh pull out on the 2nd ae december. it's no much, each is only hourly and only during the day, but it's better than nothing and probably the best they can do for such a last minute emergency operation to no leave most ae west lothian wi no bus whatsoever.
hopefully it'll only get better from next year, after getting increasingly worse to the state were in now since 2019.

The ruins of Linlithgow Palace are located in the town of Linlithgow, West Lothian, Scotland, 15 miles (24 km) west of Edinburgh. The palace was one of the principal residences of the monarchs of Scotland in the 15th and 16th centuries. Although maintained after Scotland's monarchs left for England in 1603, the palace was little used, and was burned out in 1746. It is now a visitor attraction in the care of Historic Environment Scotland.

Do your shutters work or are they stuck to the wall? With the rising costs of heating, we can repair your shutters to full working order.  This means you can close them on a cold winter’s night and keep the heat in.

Then, according to the government files on the incident, “the object dropped a curtain of white light” directly in front of the witness’s car. This strange curtain stretched right across the road, leaving the pair no option but to continue into the strange “shimmering” glow. Believing that the best option was to increase his speed so he could get through it quicker, Garry pressed down hard on the accelerator.
As he drove into it, Garry would recall that it had the appearance of a “detuned television set” with multiple “flickering lights”.

Digital, ultra-violet, kite aerial photo, Armadale, West Lothian, Scotland. (3704016531)Description: Unmodified Fuji F30fd with Hoya U-360 UV-pass + Schott BG39 IR-block, 25mm filters, ISO 1600, f2.8, 1/20 sec. Our first attempt at UV KAP.
For suitable, unmodified cameras, this low shutter speed, low success rate approach can be applied to infra-red photography (using an R72 filter) where images will be much clearer than in the UV. Also, sensitivity to IR is usually higher than to UV.
