Jenny Sparks is often described as hedonistic, and she fits under the "hedonistic bisexual" trope. The trope is seen as negative as it creates the idea that bisexuals are the "other" contriburing to biphobia. However, in Jenny's case, it's positive. Often times hedonism is self-centered, making individuals out to be selfish. This is flipped with Sparks as her hedonism is rooted in her deep care for others. Her grave is an example of such — a call for the creation of a better world even after her death.

Apollo and Midnighter are a superhero couple who first appeared in comics published by Wildstorm and later DC comics once it absorbed the former. Best known as members of the anti-hero team The Authority, the couple has been interpreted as a gay parallel to Batman and Superman. The Authority has been described as the anti-Justice League. DC Studios has announced a big screen adaptation on The Authority.
