Yeah … I’m not sure how I feel about this.
Tumblr media
I know Logan is far from the best driver on the grid but the way Williams has treated him this season and actively made it hard for him to show improvement, continue to develop, or work to succeed has really just left a bad taste in my mouth. Essentially dropping Logan for lack of performance when much of that was likely due to the team itself (considering the whole chassis issue and then the fact that he was made to run an experimental setup being tested for Miami last weekend) is not it.
Kimi is a fantastic driver — one who I have no doubt will succeed in Formula 1 soon — but he has barely even had a chance to find his bearings in Formula 2. What is the purpose of further shaking up his season only to put him in a backmarker car? There is no need to rush his development and put unnecessary pressure on his shoulders.
I just don’t see how this would make any sense.

Can you do something with Logan that is super angsty? Maybe you two get in a fight over his career and your career? Then both of you realize that you can live without each other and end up getting back together.
Thank you!!

I can’t live without you — Logan Sargent x reader
“I can’t do this anymore Logan,” you said, cramming your clothes into your suitcase.
“Do what? What’s going on?” Logan asked
“Stand by and watch as Williams destroys your career” you said.
“Williams isn’t destroying my career, what are you talking about?” Logan says slightly, raising his voice.
“Yea they are Logan but you're so blinded by your loyalty to the team you can’t see it” you yelled through the tears.
“Wait a minute, you can’t leave!”
“Yes, I can” you said, your voice steady but tears were flowing down your face. “I can’t do this anymore”
“What do you mean you can’t do this anymore!” Logan yelled as you went to slam the door shut, but Logan grabbed the door and stopped it.
“That team is destroying you Logan, it's taking its toll on your mental health. you can’t keep putting yourself through this” you said, as you put a hand on Logan’s arm.
“Williams doesn’t care about you. They used your signing as a PR move to bring in more American formula one fans and you're too blind to see that” you tell him.
“Don’t say that! Williams cares about me! They brought me in, they believed in me!”
“That’s just what they want you to believe. They’re using you…I don't know why I'm wasting my breath. I know you're going to stay. I don't know what I was thinking. I mean you left a team that loved you and cared about you, and now you're throwing it away for a team that's going to drag you through the mud.”
“Stop. Stop saying those things.” Logan said harshly. “I’m not throwing anything away. My loyalty to Williams is what’s been pushing me to do my best and not make a mistake.”
“Keep telling yourself that Logan” you say finally leaving the hotel room.
“No, wait!” Logan yelled into the hallway as you shut the door. You kept walking and didn’t turn around.
“Damnit!” Logan yelled.
“She’ll come back, she’ll come to see that it’s all going to be okay.” Logan muttered to himself.
Hours later, Logan was sitting in front of his laptop in the dark looking at old pictures of them together.
A photo of you two, looking happy came into view.
“Maybe loyalty isn’t the most important thing?” He whispered to himself.
A few weeks have gone by since the Australian Grand Prix since the night you left Logan alone in the hotel room. Logan’s home race was coming up and he wasn’t going to lie he was nervous as all get out.
Logan missed you and he realized that you were right about the team. They didn’t care about him, not like you had. Fans started noticing that Logan was looking more tired and exhausted than before the bags under his had darkened. They looked so dark that it looked like he had black eyes.
Logan’s eyes were red from lack of sleep, from stress, from working nonstop to show the team what he was made of. He looked so worn out, and it was breaking your heart. You knew that he was pushing himself too hard, and it was beginning to take a toll on his mental health, and you just wanted to be there to support him.
The race weekend was approaching, and he was still working late into the night, trying to perfect his setup. Logan’s exhaustion was beginning to show, he looked like a shell of himself. He had lost weight, and his eyes were dark and sunken. The fan base was starting to get worried about him.
You weren’t doing much better yourself. You were worried sick about him, every day. You’d lost weight, you could barely sleep because all you did was worry and think about him.
Your friends tried to comfort you, but you weren’t listening to anyone, you were focused on one thing, on getting him back.
You would spend all night and day looking for flight deals online, trying to find a way to get home and see him again. But every time you looked, they were all sold out. It felt like the universe was against you, but really it just wanted you to wait a little bit longer, to wait until the right time to reunite you.
You would constantly check the calendar, seeing how many days there were left before you could get on a flight and see him again.
Time was passing so slowly, and it felt like it was never going to end. But then finally, the day came when your flight was confirmed, and you were on your way back.
You were just hours away from seeing him again, but the feeling of relief and anxiety were equally strong. You knew you wanted to see him, but at the same time, a part of you was scared of what he would say, or that he might have moved on.
You landed in the US, and you could barely contain your emotions, you were nervous and excited, and a million other things at the same time, as you got to your car. You just wanted to get to the hotel and see him as soon as possible, but at the end of the day, you also wanted to get it right, to do this the right way.
Your stomach was in knots as you pulled into the hotel, and you felt your heart racing. You couldn't believe you were actually doing this, you couldn't believe you were actually back in the US.
You took a deep breath, and walked through the doors into the hotel, up to his room.
You stopped in front of the room, taking a moment to collect yourself before knocking on the door.
After what felt like an eternity, he opened the door. Logan’s face had gone pale, and the stress and exhaustion that had been weighing on him disappeared.
“What are you doing here?” He asked, his mouth was dry, and he could barely get the words out.
“I had to see you, I had to come back” you replied, trying to get the words out.
He opened the door wider, inviting you in, you slowly walked past him, and he could feel the tension in the air.
“I’ve missed you” Logan whispered, his heart began to beat faster and faster, he was overcome with emotion, and he pulled you into a tight embrace.
“I’ve missed you too” you whisper, wrapping your arms around his neck, and burying your head into his chest.
He pulls you even closer to him, not letting you go.
The air felt thick between the two of you, neither wanted to break the embrace, neither wanted to talk, neither wanted anything more than to feel close to each other again.
Finally, after a long moment, he broke the embrace and stepped back, wiping his eyes, he had almost cried right then and there.
“I’m-I’m so sorry” he said, unable to stop the words from pouring out.
“For what? “ You asked, you had no idea what he was apologizing for. All you knew was that you wanted to be in his arms again.
“I know I’ve been distant recently, and I haven’t been there for you” he said, taking your hands in his. He stared into your eyes, as if he was trying to memorize every inch of your face.
“I just…” he began, but choked up, unable to find the right words. His lips trembled, his face twisted in regret and guilt.
“Just what?” You asked gently, trying to understand what was going on.
“You were right, my loyalty to the team has taken everything from me”. He said, his voice cracking as he fought back the tears.
“What do you mean?” You asked, he was starting to not make sense, was he just tired, it must be that, because you had no idea where this was coming from.
“You were right about the team, you said that they didn’t care about me, that they were using me as a PR move. And I tried to deny it, I tried to deny everything you said, but it’s all true…”
“I’ve pushed myself to the point of mental exhaustion, and all for what, I’ve been so blind thinking that I needed to do this, but the truth is I don’t, I don’t need Williams, I need you…” He said, staring back at you.
“Do you need me?” You said, his words caught you off guard. The reality was hitting you, he needed you, he didn’t need the team. He needed you.
“Without you, I’m lost” he said finally, admitting it out loud, he took a deep breath. “I’ve been so worried about losing Williams, and I should have been worried about losing you.”
“I need you Logan , I've missed you so much” you said, tears now spilling down your face.
“I’ve missed you too” he said, wrapping his arms around you once again. You could feel the tension in the air subside, and the stress that had been weighing on you both disappeared. It felt almost as if you’d never been apart.
His grip tightened around you, not wanting to let you go, like he needed to hold you just a little bit longer. You could feel him taking deep breaths and his heartbeat steady. It was like he needed the two of you to be as close as possible for a minute, as if he needed to make up for lost time.
“I’m never letting you leave again” he said softly, tightening his grip once again. You could feel his heart rate settle, and you could feel the tension ease even greater. It felt like home.

why logan isn't getting replaced at imola, a breakdown
(aka a breakdown so my fellow logan girlies (gn) don't break down)
I've seen this getting around, with a little traction and some people panicking a bit so let's discuss.
Joe Saward has not been a reliable source of transfer news for some time. Let's be real. A lot of this is gaining traction because Saward is "a 35 year accredited F1 journalist". And this is true, he has long experience in F1 and is accredited in the paddock. But it has been many, many years since he was accurate about driver market predictions.
You have to be eighteen to get a superlicence (thanks, Max!). Antonelli does not turn 18 until August. For him to be granted a superlicence in time for Imola, the FIA would have to issue an exemption. If Antonelli was carving up F2 it'd be one thing. But he's been far from convincing so far, and it hasn't just all been Prema. He is an F2 rookie - and he looks like it.
James Vowles has already said that Antonelli to Williams next year is not a given, because Williams has its own juniors - of which Logan is one. Now I know James has been in the bad books with plenty of us since the whole chassis debacle in Melbourne but I do believe him on this. He is quite keen to establish that Williams is not a feeder team for Mercedes and that has been the board's position for some time too (remember their angry denunciation when the rumour was that Oscar was going to replace Latifi at Silverstone?).
James Vowles still believes in Logan. Now I know some of you will be claiming this is doubtful, but I do believe it to be true. In the Japan Vowles Verdict he was warm in his praise for Logan's race pace and early stint - to the point his voice literally changed tone while answering the question. He was absolutely effusive in his praise for Logan after the Melbourne debacle. I do genuinely think that James wants to keep him.
Bringing in a driver change mid-season is incredibly disruptive - you don't do it unless you are certain you're getting a better deal out of it. Last year Alpha Tauri brought in Daniel halfway through the year. The main reason for this was because he was a fairly immediate upgrade to de Vries. But even if you're scornful of Daniel's pace, the other reason they wanted him was for his feedback and car development ability, which AT were pretty vocal that they found invaluable. Bringing in an extremely green, unprepared rookie who has barely worked with the team would be a recipe for instability, morale issues, and more broken bits, which is the absolute last thing Williams needs.
Toto Wolff can't offer James Vowles a big enough incentive to take his junior. Let's cut to the chase on this: to insinuate that James would take Antonelli just because Wolff asked is a pretty big insult to James. He's not Wolff's lapdog. They clearly respect one another and have a personal relationship outside of the sport, but that doesn't mean he'll just do whatever Toto wants - he didn't get to be team principal that way. So Toto would need to offer James an incentive. But what can he offer that James actually needs? Williams aren't broke any more, so money isn't going to cut it. And Williams already run the Mercedes engine, so Toto can't convince him with that. What Williams actually needs - the cultural and procedural overhaul that James has begun - Toto cannot help with.
tl;dr keep cool and keep the faith, logan fans. there's still plenty of time left in our ride.

I didn't want to address it but it gaining traction:
James Vowles needs to prove himself as a team principal. What he's not going to do is replace an F1 driver with an F2 driver who has been brought up to early.
Again.
He's also never going to prove himself if he continues to act as a feeder program for the Mercedes seat. Valtteri, Nico R, and George all served time in Williams before making their way to Mercedes. James has already made it clear Kimi isn't their top choice over a driver in their own academy.
Kimi isn't doing that well. He's currently 9th after 3 (4?) races. He could improve but he's not placing well enough to blame it solely on Prema.
Logan finished fifth the year he was promoted.
Additionally, Kimi isn't 18 yet. Even if, EVEN IF, FIA were willing to give an exemption on that component, there's another funky little aspect that everyone is ignoring.
I'm pretty sure that To drive in F1, drivers need to have their standard road license in their home country. Kimi races under the Italian flag, he won't be able to test until he's 18 (I THINK). And that's if he passes the first time. Which, no F1 driver has a great record with the standard test, whether that be the theory or the physical.
Also it's Joe Saward. The man predicted Lando had a contract with Ferrari. Like he's pretty good at scooping calendar changes, but if I had to guess, that's from getting his hands on documents that go out to dozens of people. You better believe that a contract like this is being kept under wraps.
Don't believe it until it comes out of Kimi, Logan, James, or Alex's mouth.

If Williams does that shit, I will do nothing but hope for their downfall. Especially James Vowles. Alex has zero points, crashed a car, and then got the good one and still didn't get points. But Logan, who hasn't been doing completely terrible and who has been driving a car that's haphazardly fixed, is on the chopping block before the season is even halfway?
And mind you, the Williams car is ass. This isn't Logan underperforming in a Ferrari.
They fuck Logan over by bringing him up too soon, then they fuck his confidence by punishing him for something his teammate did. Then they allow a million rumors to get out about them already looking not even 10 races in leaving more room to shake confidence.
James Vowles shouldn't have tried to seem like the caring TP capable of fostering drivers, because my goodness is that biting him in the ass.
Also my irriatation doesn't extend to Kimi. But I can't confidently say that him also being called up early to drive a car that doesn't have a single point yet will be good for his career, if Williams current behavior is anything to go by.
Disclaimer: I can be emotional and objective. Even if I rewrote this to remove everything but objectivity and logic, this would still be a silly idea and tarnishing a team who is supposedly trying to rebuild.

Anyone who truly thinks Logan is at risk of being replaced in the year of 2024 hasn't been paying attention to his race craft.
James doesn't care if their cars are back markers because he knows there are no points for them with Hass/VCARB holding 10th on lock, and 2026 is James (everyone's focus). Williams has been open about their status money wise, status parts/tool age wise, mindset, and everything.
All this noise and rumors are being propagated by "reporters" who are bored that the rostermania expected from Lewis Hamilton and Red Bull drama didn't actually happen, so they are picking on people at the back.
First it was "Daniel Ricardo at Miami for Liam" but then in China with the new chassis he pulled up the pace and results, so now they are pivoting to "Logan for Kimi at Emilia" cause he is the only ever driver specific they can target. Alpine and Sauber as teams are struggling with pace and pitstops so they don't blame the drivers.
All that to say the talking heads causing this drama is stupid and I hope Logan can continue to prove them wrong.

I don’t know how much of the whole Kimi Antonelli replacing Logan in Imola is true, I really hope it’s not, but this just going to end badly.
Kimi has done only three race weekends so like six races of F2 so far. Why do they want to put him directly into an F1 car and not for one race but for a whole season? He isn’t that experienced yet! Let him at least have a full season under his belt. And I’m sure he’ll be in F1 soon but right at this moment, no he shouldn’t be.
‘But Ollie and Liam did good.’ Yea. But they had at least one or two full season of F2 before they raced in F1. Same with most of the recent rookies, they all did a season or two before they made the jump to F1.
If they really want a Mercedes junior driver on the grid why not bring in Fred Vesti. He’s right there. He came in second in the F2 championship last year and he was leading it until the last three races. Why is he never in this conversation? I’d say he is much more qualified than Kimi at the moment.
If it wasn’t for Toto’s stupid obsession with wanting Kimi to be the next Max Verstappen we wouldn’t be in this mess!
And Williams for god’s sakes stop disrespecting your driver! You’ve done nothing but humiliate him this whole season so far! If the season was going good for y’all and Logan wasn’t doing good maybe there would be a whole another conversation, but it isn’t. You still have zero points and it’s not looking any better and replacing Logan with an inexperienced young kid isn’t going to make it better!
This whole thing is going to be so difficult for both the drivers. Logan with his self esteem and confidence taking a hit and Kimi with so much pressure.
Also the whole pushing a Mercedes junior driver to take the Williams F1 seat while Williams has its own flock of capable junior drivers irks me.
//TL;DR: let kimi get more experience and finish his first f2 season before putting him in an f1 car for a race. let logan be and prove himself before doing anything this stupid. It’s only been three races for him ffs!
