Lan Zhan chews on the too sweet strawberry and looks through the crowds. There is a small boy, around his age, sitting on a dirty blanket on edge of the street. No one else seems to notice him, everyone's just passes him by, some of them even step on the corner of the little blanket. The boy is looking at Lan Zhan. Staring really. Lan Zhan stares back. The boy smiles at him, his smile is warm and friendly, a bit like mum's. He waves at Lan Zhan.

Inspired by the scene in the donghua that seems to suggest Wei Ying and Lan Zhan met as children.

1 ) Lessons Not Taught in Museum Collections Management (DMBJ):

“What do you mean, ‘it’s sad’?” Pangzi scoffed, his attention still mostly on his phone and the auction he was about to earn an obscene amount of money from.

Patterns: Almost equally divided between past and present tense, which surprised me. (I used to write in mostly past, but when I read Guardian I started writing in present more because the translation I read was in present.) About half start with dialogue, which feels about right. Numbers 1, 3, 4, and 8 all started with the first line coming to me, and then the rest of the fic being an attempt to follow that up. Lots of in media res starts, which doesn't surprise me. Fewer ambiguous starts than I expected (ambiguous in the sense of it not being immediately apparent who the pov is).

Ok I am coming to this meme late so I imagine it is likely most people have already seen it, and I have been very negligent about checking tumblr, so apologies! @iamwestiec @lacommunarde @foxofninetales

And the silence of his unsmiling mouth gives her own poor ears some respite. Yes, death suits Wei Wuxian.

She tells him so when he comes clattering through the door, already peeling off the glamour of the face he must now wear in public, and he squawks predictably.

The individuals included in this post either indicated in their biographies that they were trans, or they volunteered to be included. We’re delighted to be able to share their work with you. 😀 We work with other trans authors who chose not to be included in this post, and we support them too! It’s scary times to be out in a lot of countries, we get it, and protecting the anonymity and privacy of the people who work with us is one of our top priorities. To be visible on this day, in the current international climate, is an act of bravery, and we salute everyone choosing to publicly celebrate their identity today, and we respect everyone choosing not to. <3

Catherine E. Green (pronouns: xe/xem/xyr or they/them/their) is an agender person, one who’s had an on-again, off-again love affair with writing. Since graduating, N. C. Farrell has worked in various education-related roles. They currently spend much of their free time reading (more translated webnovels than paper books right now), writing (a lot of fanfic), practicing aikido, playing TTRPGs, and being supervised by a small shadow in the shape of a cat.

Alex Ransom is a longtime fan writer and translator recently expanding into original fiction. Her favorite trope, as both reader and writer, is “Earn Your Happy Ending,” in which characters fight through perhaps inordinate amounts of difficulty to come out happier and more content on the other side. She is especially interested in the intersection between social circumstances, personal history, and the formation and maintenance of identity. Her favorite genres are space opera, fantasy, queer romance, and poetry.

As a child, Alex thought everything was better if it was more complicated and that the best answer to a yes or no question was usually “both”. Consequently, today she is bi/pansexual, trans/nonbinary, has worked a variety of jobs, and has three degrees in completely unrelated fields. When she isn’t writing or doomscrolling on the internet, she likes to travel, hike, and build marginally functional furniture. She lives outside Boston, Massachusetts, with her spouse and adult daughter.

Stealing @withbroombefore's excellent core-sharing concept from the impeccable Quartet, we're gonna fuck up the golden core transfer by connecting Jiang Cheng's, Wen Qing's, Wen Ning's, and Wei Wuxian's golden cores. AND we're gonna make it so they don't realize it right away so WWX still gets thrown in the Burial Mounds, except now Jiang Cheng, Wen Qing, and Wen Ning all independently converge upon the Burial Mounds because they are getting flashes of what he's going through and are unwittingly sustaining him through it.

And then it's Sunshot! Plenty of opportunities for temporary character death throughout. At some point after Jiang Cheng either allows himself to temporarily die carelessly or nearly drains himself bringing WWX back from reckless temporary death, Wen Qing yells at him and they make out about it.

ok so here goes. I read the fic Shield from WithBroomBefore. And in it in chapter 11 there is a point of angust, so based on a less happy universe I would like LWJ to die but to make it worse he gives the golden core to WWX as a posthumous gift with the help of WQ. The pure chaos. it would be so sweet. To finish even more I wanted him to still be GusuLan. Well based on an alternate universe: LWJ, NHS, and whoever else would discreetly help the WWX rescue the Wens on the Qionqi path. +

en to eliminate the intruders, the Jins would chase the Wens and to give them time, the LWJ would stay behind and when he eliminated the threat he was mortally wounded and was helped to get to the WWX and Wens, for that he would know about the Golden Core Transfer and ask WQ to transfer his to WWX. Anyway and the LXC should know along with the NMJ that their brothers went with the WWX but only the NHS lived. I want pain and confusion and revenge.

1. For the ficfinder: In the last "In the mood for", no 8 reminded me of a fic but I cant recall the one. Wwx is travelling by himself, writing letters to LZ, he stays in a town and it ends up cursed. LZ and the juniors arrive to solve the case. Wwx is acting weird and hides his letters. The juniors read the letters and find out wwx is angry and full of resentment about how he's been treated. They find out the curse resonates from him. They talk it out to resolve matters. It was written really well. Any idea? @kesterling

2. Hi! This is for Fic Finder. All I remember is the ending, where Yu Ziyuan had her arms cut off, and that there was a part that mentioned that this was punishment enough as she would have to live her life with no pride. Also, she had an affair with Jin Guangshan, and Jiang Cheng was his child, and she had to become his concubine, I think. Hope someone knows which fic this is!

Wwx was brought to cloud recesses for healing after madam yu had whipped him so bloody he couldn’t move and wa sin active danger of dying.

The disciples who brought him there did so on a donkey I think?

Anyway they asked LZ to please befriend Wwx.

The healers weren’t sure if Wwx would survive. He does.

And joins the lan, befriending LZ oh and he can’t fight with his sword anymore because of the damage and something about his heart having been weakened.

5. Hi, I'm wondering if anyone else remembers a fic similar to leading tone by silencemostofall, and pastel by antebunny, but that's set in the canon era while they're at Cloud Recesses? A few details I remember was that the coloured mark that indicated Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian's relationship started to fade, and that Jiang Cheng was allowed home to celebrate his birthday, while Wei Wuxian's was completely ignored by the Jiang Sect and so he spent it drinking and was caught by Lan Wangji. 6. There was this fic on ao3 I don't remember, much, but it had this part, where lwj refused to go near his child(/children??) Because when wwx was pregnant he slowly grew ill or I dunno I think there was some complications (?) and when it was finally the time of delivery, wwx fell into coma I think. And lxc was angry with lwj for not even looking at his child / children when both wc were so excited for the baby.

There is a similar wx comic on Twitter. Can you please find both of them? The ao3 fic and the Twitter comic too please?

A while back I found and lost 😥 a fic where WangXian, I think, were smuggling Wen Ning (and probably Wen Qing) across a border somewhere and they put a fake mustache on one of the two and people kept complimenting them on how nice it looked. I remember 18, though I can't find it either. The sickness/curse in question made people burn from the inside; it was contagious from breathing in the ashes of the people dying. There was a honestly touching scene with Wen Chao dying while Wen Ning kept him company. Wen Qing assassinated WRH because she was treating him for the illness, for which they'd finally found the cure, and he announced that he therefore would use it as a weapon against the other sects, by deliberately infecting them and holding the cure hostage. The only ones they'd allow to have the cure are the Lans, because they're the only ones who came to help. He also intended to marry WQ, as he'd lost both his sons and needed new ones. I think it might have been part of a series, with the first part showing how WangXian got together.

Twelve hours after Jiang Cheng and the others escape from Mount Muxi, Wei Wuxian risks wading into the lake and discovers that the underwater passage to the stream in the maple wood has been blocked behind the tortoise’s body.

“It’s sleeping right beside the opening,” he whispers, when he and Lan Zhan are safe in a tunnel of rock too narrow for the Xuanwu’s neck and head. “Judging by the current in the water, that passage was the only way out.”

Trapped in the Xuanwu's cave with no means of escape, Lan Wangji suggests a surprising course of action to strengthen himself and Wei Wuxian for battle: dual cultivation.

The session proves successful, but despite their best efforts, Wei Wuxian's golden core yields unexpected consequences for them both.

“You must always carry a silver pin, or even more than one,” she tells him, showing him the long, sharp needle and putting it right down the middle of his rice bowl. “If you put it into your food, and it discolors, you must not eat it. Find someone safe as quick as you can, and try to eat from dishes that others have already been served from whenever it is possible.”

It’s an odd first lesson for a child to learn. But when you were almost poisoned to death when you were only a baby, knowing how to test your food might be the best first lesson after all.

Ten months after Nie Mingjue's death, Jin Rusong survives an assassination attempt intended for his father.

Lan Xichen, however, does not.
