#come onnnnn feeling the woman you've become is a betrayal of the girl you once were! :'( #yet again quiet reading time turned into fucking scrambling to make it about mary!! but hey it also fits the womenweek theme! so! #anyways mary's exploration of herself and her identify as a resurrected adult is a constant navigation of all the roles and expectations #she failed to fill whether it be what she wanted for herself or what others wanted for her! sure so much of this is from men placing her in #a role or a codification BUT she also is desperate TO be codified bc she didn't know herself yet! and it's easier to be what a man wants #you to be if all you know about yourself is that you don't want to be what ANOTHER man wants you to be and not what u want! so might as #well be what this new man wants bc at least that's a solid identify you can bleed into and who knows maybe you'll like it! #and then you don't and it kills you and you have to come back to that lost girl and apologize and try to understand her so you can finally #understand who you want to be as an adult! undefined by other's roles just you! alright! with that, womenweek is officially over! if you’re pretty close to done with your piece, you can inbox/tag us when it’s done and we’ll reblog it. if you write women centered fic after this, even if it’s not for this event, feel free to drop it in the ao3 collection! and of course if we’ve missed a piece of yours you can send it our way and we’ll get it on the blog.

in the next couple of days, we’ll get the spreadsheet of entries finalized to be posted here so you can sort posts by character / prompt / day / etc. we’ll also get the exit survey posted so you can share what you thought worked and didn’t work and your comments/suggestions/future ideas/etc.

i also want to give a big shout out to my fellow mods! @casjpg made gif after AWESOME gif for us! @thefinalbow picked up the ball every time i dropped it and was an INVALUABLE pinch hitter! @uhuraha was an EXCELLENT addition who picked it up super quickly and really helped carry the load! and tons of people volunteered to mod when we asked for help!

i’ve had loads of fun running this and hope you guys had as much fun participating and seeing things everyone made. <3

Is there any list of all the character of color (or the prominent ones) that appeared in the show? I don't want to miss anyone.

there is not! i'll try to put one together before we get to the actual event, but i'm also prone the missing people haha. when i put together the womenweek list it took a good long while, and that's when i could just glance at the season overview pages on the wiki and pull out all the names like tara elizabeth etc at a glance. that's not rly an applicable method for characters of color!

i'm definitely open to other methods than just me working off my own memory - i can put together all the characters who were submitted for the last event onto a doc sorted by season, and then make that doc open for public editing? let me know what you think would work best

schmoopy on main but it is very cool and heartwarming and fun and makes me feel good when i set sthing up and worry that the only ppl who will participate r me and the half dozen people i cajole only for it to start and see participation out the wazoooooo. it’s nice! it’s nice that the void doesn’t leave me hanging and shouts back “here’s some cool art of billie!”.

#pocweek and womenweek r fun bc i feel like ppl get frustrated when they spend a lot of times on works for characters who arent #paid attention to which discourages them out of more. so they're a nice laser focus and chain reaction #creators and characters who get overlooked get attention! neat! #plus events are just a fun phenomena. dozens and dozens of people deciding to make something at the same time just cause they like it. #etxt
