Princess Qi Pa wakes up to find herself abducted into the fantastical and surreal world of the Beast-Turning Tribe. She is forced into becoming the bride of the Beast-Turning King, Kui Mu Lang. Despite Qi Pa's repeated attempts to escape, her life is further disrupted by a man named Li Xiong. Li Xiong only appears during the day, and Kui Mu Lang only appears at night. Unbeknownst to Qi Pa, she has stumbled upon a shocking secret of the Beast-Turning Tribe. As mischievous and lively as she is, Qi Pa gradually finds her way into the heart of the domineering Wolf King. How will the beauty and the "beast" fall in love? A journey filled with laughter, sweetness, and heart-wrenching moments is about to unfold.

My thoughts on this drama :
Beauty and the Beast Chinese version with comedy in it? Yes, that sums it up pretty well. Don't look for a super high quality drama here. Some of the props were hideous (I look at you rubber pointy ears), the costumes were sometimes really weird…. But honestly, I had a pretty good time.... for the first 15 episodes. Then it started to drag... drag... drag.... and at some point I just hit the fast forward button because it was becoming painful to watch. And once again, it's a drama where the hero transforms at night (same actor so same face), getting a hair job, weird teeth and tattoo-like black veins on his neck and lower face (but still the same face) and yet!!! Our female lead could not recognize him? At all? Not even a sense of déjà-vu? Pleaaaaase! If you want to be convincing then change actors between night and day! This and the mask trope are just getting ridiculous.
Now the story is fun. The characters are fun. There is little to no real 'drama', you can smell the happy ending from episode one. The fact that it's a 'sequel' of another drama, where one the leads comes from the future, made for some comical scenes. Our female lead has been raised with modern concepts, and when transposed to ancient setting, you get exposed skin, pumps, group choregraphy, proposal on one knee, and more!
At some point I started feeling bad for our wolf pup, but also at the same time, I was glad our young princess did not get the Stockholm Syndrome and stayed hell bent on her objective to go back home. But as I said, you can smell the happy ending from the first episode, so any heartbreak was short lived and quickly overcome. The final scene was a bit WTF for me, but it fits... considering...

I know this is a popular cdrama among many fans, but oof I have issues with it. Don’t get me wrong the chemistry throughout the cast is amazing. Like off the charts amazing. I even stuck around in the too much eye roll worthy off jokes off ‘oh my god I’m 26 I’m ancient now, why. sign me up for my casket.’ I was like girls seriously wait til you hit in your thirties. Again I was totally sold throughout episodes 1 -12 in all its cheesy, corny predictable ‘ ness of each couple. After that it lost me on the main couple. (Slight spoiler) It totally blindsided me with the female lead apparently never “really” interested in male lead all this time having ‘another’ hidden love interest somewhere else. I don’t want to really spoil anything. Its just the whole situation was so left field and was only to further drag out the storyline it felt so out of place and butchered both main characters growth I thought. 🤷♀️ I have to say I fast forward a lot of scenes after that. 1-12 ❤️ though. Mostly stay after for the other couples.
