BEIJING — A Chinese court on Friday sentenced Chinese-Canadian pop star Kris Wu to 13 years in prison on charges including rape.
Beijing’s Chaoyang District Court said Wu was given 11 years and 6 months for a 2020 rape, and 1 year and 10 months for the “crime of assembling a crowd to engage in sexual promiscuity” in a 2018 incident in which he and others allegedly assaulted two women they had gotten drunk.
The court said the three victims in the rape case had also been drunk and were unable to resist.
It said a combined 13-year sentence was agreed on and Wu would be immediately deported after serving his time.
“According to the facts … the nature, circumstances and harmful consequences of the crime, the court made the above judgment,” the court said in an online statement.
A Canadian diplomat was in court to hear the sentencing, it said.
The June trial of the 32-year-old former member of the South Korean group EXO had been closed to the public to protect the alleged victims’ privacy.
Wu has been detained since August last year while police conducted an investigation in response to comments online that he “repeatedly lured young women” to have sex, according to a police statement at that time.
That year, a teenager accused him of having sex with her while she was drunk. Wu, known in Chinese as Wu Yifan, denied the accusation.
The teenager then said seven other women contacted her to say Wu seduced them with promises of jobs and other opportunities. She said some were under 18.
Rape is punishable by three to 10 years in prison, although exceptional cases can result in harsher sentences up to death. The second charge Wu faced is punishable by up to five years in prison.
Wu grew up in Guangzhou in China and in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Btw I think all of the musicians are really nice, I’m sorry but the music was so good. Like their music really connected to me. They are all really talented and put great time into their work
Seokyoung Hong was like running waters. It moved me to tears; it was amazing. The waves became more intricate and beautiful. I feel like I want my music to be like it. (Btw this dude’s 15 he’s one year older than me) I also want to comment on his voice (I tuned into the radio to hear his voice), ITS AMAZING.
Jan Schulmeister was like a bang to me. It really did portray the beauty of the Cathedral. It was amazing. (This dude is 16) The dude really kept the bass together and it blended nicely with the waves. You can hear it fighting for its life. I feel like the cathedral is fighting and slowly being submerged into the water in the most dramatic and beautiful way imaginable.
Yifan Wu is 14. He kind of sounds like my friend trying to speak mandarin. His little laugh in the recording. He is very poetic tbh. The music is so good! Despite the language barrier, he still connects with the Dallas symphony orchestra. He just brings the music together. It’s so intricate; the trills just add such an amazing addition. The music sounds like falling or being infatuated with something. Something is bringing you down as you gaze into it in awe but lifting you as a out-of-soul experience.

Honestly, after what he did, it is sickening that these people are still supporting such a monster. Things he has done are so scary and just disgusting. I have been following up with this news for a while but today I saw a video of Stephanie she recently posted talking about this whole situation and I thought I might check what is going on his Instagram and was shocked to see many people still comforting him and thinking that he is some sort of god or whatever. Especially the comments, they make me wanna bleach my damn eyes.
There is always a difference between being a fan and a sensible person.
If anyone who is not aware of the whole thing, you can just search “Stephanie Soo talking about Kris Wu” you can get the whole frame of it.
He is just a big no-no. If anyone here thinks that he is good, I don’t know man, are you okay? Like seriously, everything is so Crystal clear. I know that there were so many vague parts but in the end, it all made sense and there are proof!
Being ra*pped is no fun! Even if your “idol” does it to you, it is not cool! Some people need to grow the fuck up and understand that HE is the problem.
My heart goes to all those young girls and those underage girls. I am so sorry for them. And I wish he could get more years behind the bars. 13 doesn't sound enough.
