I was so happy to find out that the actor who plays Alexander is trans! I mean, it's his private life and he didn't have to make it known, but it looks like he's always been pretty open about it. I am torn between wanting Alexander to also be trans, because it's always nice to include trans characters, and not wanting it, because I also think it's cool to have a trans character play an assumed-cis character. And it's also nice not to touch the subject at all, because it shouldn't matter. Anyway, regardless of what happens, it's really nice!

I was tagged by @forerussake to post a snippet of a current WIP - in August 06 - but I forgot and things came and went and I almost lost the post where I was tagged kjsjsskj. Sorry for being so late, Eru!

I have too many WIPs, so I'm choosing Seawater is tears shed in the shores because is a long work I've been writing with @victorian-pirate and nothing is posted. This is a Post-Canon for Guardian Novel, but Zhao Yunlan didn't get all his powers back automatically. There are some 'what if's that brought us ideas of working human conditions with Guardian and DMBJ characters.

What if Zhao Yunlan had a choice between being the god he once was or not? What if the attachment to what makes one human ran deeper than Shen Wei believed he understood at first?

Zhao Yunlan looked ahead at the horizon, at the clear line that still appeared behind the distant buildings of Longcheng. A gray line, from a sunless sunset. Cloudy and opaque. From there, it was impossible to see the sea, but maybe he could, despite the distance, if the buildings weren't in the way. Quiet beaches on a day like that, where he had learned things that would make a difference in his future, and created a desire to enjoy the sea with Shen Wei when the opportunity was before them. Calm and deserted beaches, with forgotten boats, white sand and high rocks, where one could see small yellow flowers by the sea, seagulls coming and going and an old lighthouse with faded colors. He had learned to love the sea there. And there he had learned to love. Sitting on the edge of the living room window, he took a drag on his cigarette and let the breeze from the half-open window carry the whitish smoke that he let out slowly through his mouth. It was a good life now. But, from time to time, he still felt a little melancholy - not because of the beaches, he avoided those memories. He felt he had always been like that somehow, a melancholy person. Before, he was intractable when he felt that way. Now, however, it was different, because Shen Wei was there. Sometimes Shen Wei would ask about it, other times - most of the times now - he would just keep him company and the silence was comforting in his presence. Eventually, Shen Wei felt a little homesick for more lighthearted and mischievous details that Kunlun had possessed in his personality, but those details had never existed in the same way again. They didn't exist in Zhao Yunlan either, despite the memory of the times of chaos. The professor remembered that especially when Zhao Yunlan was in a melancholy mood, and that day, he had also heard his students talking about youth problems in the college corridors. Silly statements about how to deal (or not) with relationships, as he saw it. But when it came to past relationships, all Shen Wei was based on was the same person - albeit in different incarnations. The same person, he thought, as he recalled each and every one of the times Zhao Yunlan had said 'I'm not him' - though what else could Zhao Yunlan be but Kunlun? But if so, why did he still miss Kunlun so much? He turned the page of the book, not noticing that he hadn't understood the last paragraph of the previous page. The words had been lost in his thoughts. Without getting up from the couch, he reached for the cup of tea on the coffee table, casting a brief glance at his husband, who was still watching the silhouettes of the city outside the window. “Yunlan…” “Hm?” Shen Wei took a sip of tea, considering whether he should ask certain questions, "Do you want to talk?"
