I loved what you wrote for the brothers' reaction if the MC's baby called them dad. But let's go back in time a little, what would be the brothers' relationship with the MC's water bursting.

I thought of them all together in the living room or having dinner when that happens, but if you prefer I would love the situation being individual as well!

So yall were having dinner like any normal day

nothing rly noteworthy happened before dinner

the family fought as per usual-

though, throughout your pregnancy, the fighting has been dialed back a bit, thanks to Luci.

-and you had felt less sluggish than usual so doing your exercises was p easy

and your due date was almost 2 weeks away

so you had nothing to worry about.

Until you did.

In the middle of taking a bite, you felt a liquid drip down your leg-

at first you thought you might have urinated on yourself, your bladder had physically gotten smaller so it wouldn't have been the first time this had happened

but when you got up to excuse your self to the restroom

you felt a dull but very noticeable ache and pressure around your pelvis area

It then finally clicked that you were going into labor..

Joy...

"Mc? are you alright dear? you know you shouldn't stand for too long you'll end up sore again" Asmo said next to you, catching the attention of his brothers.

Taking a deep sigh, you slowly pushed your chair in and with careful slow steps, started walking toward the hospital bag near the entrance hall that had been prepared a month before hand.

Right before you got to the dining room exit, you replied, "...I'm pretty sure my water broke.." mumbling just loud enough for the group to hear. The dull pain had slowly been getting worse, and you wanted to focus on your breathing to hopefully help manage it.

The room was quiet for a moment before bursting into expected chaos...

Lucifer

Lucifer may look like he's calm, but on the inside, he is losing his absolute shit.

He's calming his brothers down and instructing them on what to do

he is also one of the brothers that will try to help you walk to the car and into the hospital.

If he's the father he might actually start crying

doesn't want to but he might.

If he's not he's still going to help you as much as he's able, also equally stressed either way.

After the baby's born he and a few of his other brothers will go back home to make sure the nursery is ready.

Mammon

Mammon's job is to get the/his car ready and out front to drive everyone to the hospital.

He is probably the most visibly panic-y

may or may not have knocked over a tree trying to get the car out front as fast as he could.

If he's the father he is 100% sobbing all throughout the labor, more than you, but its mostly happy excited tears, extremely nervous.

If he's not then he's more so excited, he's about to be godfather! this is not your choice, as soon as he became your friend he demanded that he was the child's godfather/uncle.

Was one that went to help with the nursery, but he had to be dragged out.

Levi

Levi was in charge of getting you more blankets and pillows for the hospital, along with some books for afterwords and the rest of the time at the hospital.

Also very visibly panicked, but trying to hide it terribly.

If he's the father, he'll do his job as fast as possible to he can be by your side, kinda kicks into General of the Devildom Navy mode a lil bit.

If he is not da father, he'll be more nervous and probably drop a lot of the things he's trying to carry cause of it.

Satan

Satan's job was to help you walk to the car/into the hospital

he would never admit it but Luci trusts him the most to be gentle and calm with you in this type of situation.

He is actually the calmest about this.

He'll offer to carry you but if you decline he'll settle for having your arm around his shoulders so he can support your weight.

If he is the father, he will be scary calm, and try to distract you from the pain the best he can while holding your hand all the way through.

If not, then he's still quite calm and doing his best to take some stress off your shoulders.

Asmo

Asmo was to call everyone else and let them know about what was going on.

He is far more excited than nervous

practically jumping up and down as he tells everyone.

If he's the father, scratch jumping up and down, mans is straight up bouncing off the walls, can barely get out a

"Babys here!"

before hanging up.

Like Levi he wants to get his job done as fast as he can to be with you.

If he's not then he'll still be very excited, he'll be blabbing on all about the baby forever to everyone he calls.

Beel

Beel's in charge of carrying the things you need for the hospital, the overnight bag, the hospital bag, and food for after labor.

The look on his face is very stern but he is panicking like all hell

probably the most nervous about yours and the baby's health.

If he's the father, fuck Satan- he is carrying you in one hand and all the bags in the other

his fear is 110% worse.

If he's not he'll still be very scared, he'll hover around you tho, even weeks after your out of the hospital.

Also another one that goes back home to help with the nursery, may have hidden some snacks in there for you.

Belphie

He helps Levi get with getting pillows and blankets for you.

He looks like he's about pass tf about, but can't he's rly nervous, refuses to admit it tho.

If he's the father, he'll have Beel be with you when he can't, but he's so excited and refuses to sleep

will make his brothers slap him as hard as they can if he does.

If he's not, he will still try to stay awake to help you but will probably pass out once he knows everything is alright.

You see them and then promptly give yuuji a kiss on the cheek and throw them a smug look after~ (he melts and they gasp and look back at their drinks.{not before gojo gives ya’ll a thumbs up though~})

When megumi,nobara and he get into trouble you go past the detention class to blow him kisses,he blows some back,depending on which professor Is supervising them.

For your O.W.Ls the four of you study together,(and when I say ‘study’,I mean you bitch abt your O.W.Ls and how much you hv to study…megumi studies tho~)

But when push comes to shove you,yuuji and nobara end up cramming and stressing tf out!! (not megumi,he’s in bed at reasonable times because he did his due diligence when he had to~)

Once your O.W.Ls are over you all go to hogsmeade to celebreate!!!

You all pass with mostly Os Es and As; megumi gets all Os!

Overall,regardless of the universe,yuuji is a great boyfriend and he’ll take care of you no matter what!

ok !! yall need so many updates from me aaa i'll try to speedrun them n not give u too much junk to read hehe

the main thing is, today i took a huuuge train ride home from uni !! i was on the road for a super long time but i got tons of reading done :3 but for about a month , i won't be seein any of my uni lore people in person ;; it's gonna be weird for sure since i've spent so much time around them recently, but i think in some cases (ie meadow lol) the distance will be good to help me rly evaluate what i'm getting out of that closeness n whether it's worth it.

plus, i'll get to hang out with my friends from here more too !! theres TONS of interesting stuff goin on with them too, so i'm sure there'll b more of that !!

anyway, here's a mini recap of some stuff that's happened since my last entry !!

i had a big night out with a bunch of people !! my first stop was an indie music night with odie and jiji, then after that down to a queer club night where we met meadow and one of their friends !! we also ran into another classmate who we didn't know was even queer, n he ended up joining us for the night :D

i also ran into a bunch more people i know !! specifically winter and (new character time) wave, who i'll add to the masterlist sooon :3

overall it was super fun n they played a bunch of my favorite songs :3 i love gay people <3

remember how i said 'as per jiji's advice i'm gonna try n keep some distance from meadow'? yeah i for sure did not do that. we explored a retail park n saw a movie on one day, did field work in the city another, n kept walking to class together almost every day !! i am ,, so tired !!

honestly, the crush might be beginning to fade, or just shapeshift into a friendship. i'm becoming more n more aware of potential red flags or just reasons i might not personally want to date them.. mainly, we're just really different in terms of personality. compared to when i'm hanging out with jiji and odie, i just mask around meadow a lot more. i overthink a lot, they tease me over my silly cringe interests n traits (of which there are a lot lol) instead of hyping me up , and i know they don't mean anything of it but i'm tired of being constantly reminded of how Different i am from them ,, and by extension from most people.. ok but wait there was last night .......

we went to a candlelight concert !! to any pair of people other than us, it probably would've been super romantic. what a waste of a perfect night, right? but it was still nice. we dressed up extra pretty, the music was nice, we sat right at the back of a beautiful church and listened to basically a classical music concert. i drank mulled wine in the intermission, there were about 20 christmas trees all decorated and themed after different charities and local organisations. crush thoughts aside, it was a really magical experience for what it cost (15 pounds yippee) :3

but , of course , since i knew that if i got home after that i'd have the most miserable yearning-filled night, i helped set up a pizza party with my flatmates (and odie) instead !! so jiji, comet, and our fourth roommate chipi !! i'm surprised i haven't mentioned him yet, at some point he should get a loredump post of his own since there's a lot to unpack with him lol

anyway the pizza party went great , save for the worlds worst phonecall with the pizza place which i foolishly volunteered to have. that pizza place employee in particular encompasses all the reasons i get anxious about phone calls.. yikes!

ok i think that's everything interesting that's happened so far !! here's to hoping i can have a nice relaxing (but still productive !!) month off. well , aside from the 6 giant essays i need to research and write >< but it's fine, i'll cope :,) bye for now !!

Wonwoo sighs - re-shelving another Edgar Allen Poe book. “So, what?”

Mingyu tilts his sunglasses down, eyebrows raised at the older male that continues to do his job instead of give him the time of day. “What’s going on with you, hyung? You’ve been… weird.”

“Okay, define weird.”

The younger male pouts as he takes his sunglasses off, pocketing them as he leans up against the bookshelf that Wonwoo is currently still shelving.

It only takes one utterance of your name for Wonwoo to stop in his tracks - fingertips on the spine of another book as he turns to Mingyu. “What about her? Did she say something to you?”

“No, but do you like her? I mean, ‘like’ like her.”

“Is it not… obvious? That I do? Did we not all collectively have that conversation about me giving her a set of keys to our house?”

Mingyu grimaces slightly as he mentally goes through all the times he’d even seen the two of you together and he’s only able to conjure up a few select memories - none of which were anything necessarily romantic. “Well… I wouldn’t say ‘obvious’, I guess. The two of you aren’t exactly the ‘kiss and hold hands in public’ kind of... people. More like the, ‘sneak off to fuck in a public restroom’ kind... Which, uh, isn’t really... romantic.”

This time, Wonwoo crosses his arms and leans up against the opposite bookshelf as he sighs.

It’d been a few days since he’d seen you and you’d been swamped in so much class work that you didn’t even have the time to come by the library or the frat house. And even while Wonwoo stood in between the bookshelves having a conversation with Mingyu, you were finishing an art project with Minghao that was due by the end of the day.

“I know. I told her it’d be kind of a slow crawl for me.” He plucks another book from the cart, staring at the glossy text as he simmers in his thoughts. “Mingyu, am I awkward?”

“Erm, well, I wouldn’t say that necessarily.”

Mingyu steps forward, patting Wonwoo on the shoulder as he smiles.

“You like her and you’re trying even if you’re not used to it. You gotta start somewhere, hyung. Even if you’re a fish out of water. But that’s okay, you can ask me for help if you want!”

“When are you gonna put a ring on Wonwoo-hyung?”

THE PARALLEL BETWEEN JIN LING BEING A LIFELINE FOR JIANG CHENG AND A-YUAN FOR LAN WANGJI AFTER THE BATTLE AT THE NIGHTLESS CITY

and like . the fact! that lwj and jc dislike each other!!. jc projects blame onto him for wwx both “leaving” him and indirectly causing their families deaths and when hes so consumed by it he makes wwx an enemy, lwj is there now? trying to protect him?? and lwj, who can never understand the pain that wwx , indirectly or not put jc through, but who was right there when jc tried to kill him and will never allow him to hurt wwx again. and how they like. in a way project blame of their tragedies onto each other while dealing with some type of survivor guilt and in their own way still loving wwx through it all??? amd in way its kind of fundamentally selfish but also tragically understandable? and like when u put it against the fact that after he disappears during the sunshot campaign they were looking for him together and fought together??

and like i think thats what makes it so good? its such a sad and painful and violent story, edgy even, but its compelling bc at the center of it there are all of these relationships and different types of love and hope and. :( i love it

oh god, i used to. i did when i was starting out, but then i just. i get self-conscious about what to actually say & leave shit to sit for too long. and suddenly ive got like 100 comments i havent replied to and i want to respond to them so bad but ive left them so long i feel weird about it now and it's a problem 😥

i want to start responding to them again, and every time i get a new one i tell myself im gonna but i never do cuz im fuckin awkward lmao

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

i......don't really do angsty endings. like, most of my fics end with smooches and/or love confessions lmao, i don't like leaving things off sad, even if it starts depressing as hell.

hahahhha.............i don't really do them anymore, but i already said i was into the whole animation movie crossover thing, so. yeah, i did lol. it was when i was in high school so of course i did one that was like, every disney character ever and they're going to school together. which really isn't that crazy a concept, but it was a lot of movies to write in so maybe that counts

nahh, not rly. i don't get around enough to attract anti attention lol, tho i did get one of those "👎" comments when someone was going around doing that, which lbr, is so low effort it barely counts 😂

yea sometimes. i do get the occasional horny idea lmao. mostly "what if touch-starved character + tenderness" or someone having lots of feelings while they're fucking. someone is usually billy lbr. i've also got a couple "what if someone got tied up and treated right" ideas but i don't think i've actually published any of those lmao

that's a mean question lmao how dare you. i honestly don't know, i have a lot of wips and i want to finish all of them. i know i won't but there isn't one specifically that seems less likely than the others so idk

What are your writing strengths?

uhhhhh.....i mean i've been told that my characterization is good? like, ppl being able to picture the actual characters when they're reading n stuff, so that's nice. and i could write introspection forever, u don't even know man, i get in the zone. i love getting in a character's head and picking apart their emotional state

What are your writing weaknesses?

writing dialogue really trips me up because i get picky about word choice lmao. i can be writing uninterrupted for twenty minutes cuz it's all a character's inner monologue but the second they gotta speak out loud im sittin there like ok what words sound natural and how much would they be willing to say etc. etc. suddenly it's an hour later and i've written three lines of dialogue. plus i tend to edit as i go so i'm always stopping and going back and rewriting stuff instead of just finishing the damn story

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

lmao for real tho idk? i mean there's that one trope, when someone says nice stuff in a language the other person doesn't speak because they're pining and not sure if they're allowed to say it outright, that shit's cute. im sure all the google translated dialogue has been annoyin as shit for native speakers lmfao but yeah

probably harry potter but i literally have no idea. i started writing fic in my early teens and that time of my life is a big fuckin blur lmao

Steve is whining from across the room.

Steve is whining from across the room for an extended period of time.

Steve is flailing his body on the bed to get you to look at him.

“Hello?”

“Come here.”

“’m busy, Steve,” you respond, flipping to the next page of your book. “I have to read this before class on Tuesday.”

Another whine. You laugh. “Stevie! I have to finish this.”

He reaches out for you. “I’ll read it to you.”

You smile and shake your head. “You’ll just get distracted, and so will I.”

“Come on, I am a perfect narrator.” He makes grabby hands again. “I will make it way better than it could be in your head.”

You get up with a sigh, a smile playing on your lips. Steve smiles victoriously, pulling the covers back to let you in beside him. You hand him the book and rest your head on his chest. He wrinkles his nose and holds the book away from him. “The Great Gatsby? What is this, high school?”

“It’s a popular book! I need to read it for my English lit class.”

He rolls his eyes, then smirks. Bringing you in tighter under his arm, he says, “I have an idea.”

“Oh no.”

He smiles wider. “Since I have to read you this book –”

“You insisted –”

“You can give me one kiss after each page.”

“What is this, high school?” you mock.

“It’s only fair.”

“Fine,” you sigh, burying your head into his chest.

Steve was right – it’s better than reading it in your head. He adapts a different voice for each character, talks with his hands, makes wild gestures that shake you and the bed. And, at the end of each page, even if he was in the middle of a sentence, he would look over at you with pursed lips. Each kiss given was longer, and by the tenth page, your lips lingered for half a minute.

“Steve,” you say against his lips. “I told you we’d get distracted.”

“I’m not distracted. Are you distracted?”

“A little.”

He smiles and shrugs, pulling you tighter against him once again, and continues to read.

“’I wasn't actually in love, but I felt a sort of tender curiosity.’” He pauses at that, then turns to look at you. He studies your face for a moment before asking, “Are you in love with me?”

“Of course, I am.” You reach up and tuck some loose hair behind his ear. “I wouldn’t let just any boy read Gatsby to me.”

He chuckles, but there’s still a sadness in his eyes. You frown and gently take the book from him, closing it and placing it beside you. “Hey, I mean it.” You pull him into you, chests pressed together. “How couldn’t I love you?”

He smiles bitterly. “You know….”

You nod. “I know.” You press a kiss to his forehead, and he buries his head into your neck, nearly cutting off your breathing from how hard he grips you. You run a hand through his hair, and he sighs, relaxing at the feeling.

“You want to know what I love about you?”

You feel him smile into your skin. “Sure.”

“I love your hair.” You play with a stray strand, curling it around your fingers. “I like that it’s so long that I can twist my fingers through it.” You trace your fingers down his neck. “And I love the moles you have going down your neck and to your collarbones. I love your shoulders and your arms….” You reach down to grip his hand, lacing your fingers in his. “I love your hands. They’re always so warm and soft.”

You feel him squeeze your hand and the smile come back on his face.

“You’ve got the cutest tummy.” You unlace your hand to reach down and tickle it, giggling when he giggles. “Cutest ass.”

“Not true,” he mumbles.

“True to me.” You lift his head with your fingers, making him face you. “And the most adorable face.” You trace your fingers over his features as you point them out. “Straightest nose I’ve ever seen… nicest jawline… softest lips.”

Steve pulls you in for another kiss. It’s soft and warm, inviting and welcoming, just like he is. His kisses make you dizzy, and you have to brace yourself on his chest as his move against yours. He always smiles into his kisses, too, an adorable display of his own affections without saying a thing. When you both pull away, he’s still smiling – softly, Mona Lisa style, content and happy and comfortable.

“You’re the funniest guy I’ve ever met,” you continue, tracing circles into his clothed chest. “And so brave. God, so brave, Steve. You always do the right thing. You’re kind and caring and loving and strong.”

Steve blinks some tears away and buries his head into your hair, rubbing circles into the small of your back. “Anything else?”

“You’re the love of my life,” you whisper. “I don’t ever want to do anything without you.”

“You won’t have to.” He kisses the top of your head softly, lovingly. “You’ll never have to be without me.”

You smile. “Unless you keep throwing yourself in harm’s way.”

“That was three times,” he jokes quietly. It’s not really funny, the amount of times he’s almost been killed or maimed beyond repair. But in bed with you, he can be vulnerable. He can joke. He feels safe and secure in your arms, and he doesn’t ever want this feeling to stop.

You look up to him, making contact with his warm irises. “You’re my world. I don’t want you to ever get hurt. I don’t know how… how I could live without you.”

“Don’t get upset,” he coos, moving so he’s at eye level with you. “We’re like… we’re like Romeo and Juliet.”

You laugh. “You’ve never read that, have you?”

Steve looks concerned. “Does something bad happen to them?”

You don’t have the heart to tell him. “No, Steve. They live happily ever after.”

He smiles. “So will we.”

“So will we,” you repeat.

Steve kisses you again, then pulls away. He’s a bit pouty. “Will you hold me and play with my hair?”

You nod. “What else am I here for?”

“Forever grateful for you and your fingers.” He rolls over and you pull him to you, wrapping one hand around his waist and the other in his hair. You weave your hands through his locks, pulling and tugging gently, running your fingers up and down his scalp.

You pause just briefly, and Steve whines again. “Pay attention to me!”

“Oh my God, I stopped for two seconds!”

“Too long.” You can hear the smile in his voice and you roll your eyes.

“So needy,” you mumble, continuing to massage his scalp.

“Only for you,” he jokes.

“Forever?”

“Forever.”

a/n: i rly like this ship yall. definitely up my list

This one was a little dramatic, not going to lie. Not the “love triangle” or the “someone is going to steal the love of my life” kind of drama, but dramatic in terms of emotions. so much emotion. I mean, we all know Bokuto, right? Anyway, this confession was almost two years in the making. Yes, it took Boukto a lot of pining, courage, and pep talks with the best wingman(Akaashi) to finally do it.

Bokuto had become friends with Kuroo their first year in high school. Slowly but surely, he only ended up falling for the boy. Normally, when Bokuto had to say something, he would just come right out and say it. He would have confessed sooner if he wasn’t so scared of rejection. With all the girls in middle school, they all confessed to him, so this was very new to him.

So he waited, he thought, talked to Akaashi about it a little, waited some more, and then thought some more. It isn’t until his third year when he finally knows how he’s going to do this. It’s at the summer training camp Fukurodani Academy hosts every year. It’s perfect! They spend time together, they play volleyball together, it’s the perfect setting for this kind of thing. Bokuto is nervous the first day so he doesn’t say anything.

Until he’s nervous the day after that and then the day after that. God, this is not going as planned. He hasn’t even had a proper conversation with Kuroo yet! They’ve only exchanged “hello”s on the first day. That was nearly three days ago!

Bokuto was pent up. It showed when he played, too. Jumping too early or jumping too late to hit the ball. During a scrimmage with Nekoma, Bokuto had a pretty bad landing from one of his delayed jumps and fell to the floor. It hurt his ankle so bad, he could cry. Before he knows it, he’s being picked up from the floor.

“Come on, Bo, let’s take a walk to the nurse’s office,” Kuroo says after slinging one of Bokuto’s arms over his shoulders.

“U-uh It’s ok, Kuroo, I can go by myself. Really,” Bokuto argues.

“No, I’m taking you. I also wanted to chat a bit on the way there,” Kuroo whispers that last part.

They start the journey to the nurse’s office quietly. It’s awkward. They’re both hot and sweaty, just uncomfortable. Kuroo chooses to speak first.

“So, what’s up, Bo? I haven’t got to have a proper conversation with you since I got here. Everything alright?” He asks.

“Oh, uh yeah. Everything is fine. There’s just so many people to get to know and talk to, guess I just didn’t get the chance to talk with you yet,” Bokuto lies.

‘Weird. He normally talks to me first at these things’ Kuroo thinks.

When they get to the office, there is no one there. Guess they’ll just have to figure this out on their own. Kuroo sits Bokuto down on one of the beds. He goes to the cabinet to look for some painkillers and then stops by the fridge for some ice.

“Here,” he tosses the ice bag to Bokuto, “keep that on your ankle for some 15 minutes, then I’ll wrap it.”

A slight rosiness crawls onto Bokuto’s face at the gesture.

“That’s alright, Kuroo, you already walked me here. Just go back and I’ll take care of everything else,” Bokuto insists.

“It’s fine, I don’t mind taking care of you, I want to,” Kuroo resists.

Bokuto’s face goes even redder.

“No, really, I’ve got it-”

“Oh, would you stop it already? You’re avoiding me and have been ever since I first stepped foot in the gym. What’s going on, Bo?” Kuroo resists again.

Bokuto was just so overwhelmed, with the hurt ankle and his crush, who he has been avoiding, the boy just starts crying. Kuroo didn’t mean to make him cry now, he just wanted to know what was going on.

“Bokuto! Are you okay? I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you cr-”

“I like you! I like you, okay? That’s why I’ve been avoiding you. I was gonna tell you sooner but I just couldn’t face you yet,” Bokuto confesses through tears and sniffles.

He covers his face with his hands as he continues to cry. Kuroo gently grabs Bokuto’s wrists to pull them away from his face. Once Bokuto is looking at him in the eyes, Kuroo holds Bokuto’s cheeks, wipes away the tears and says, “I like you, too,” before softly kissing the other.

Bokuto was so shocked, he felt like his head was spinning. Kuroo laughs at him in his dazed state.

“Come on, let’s wrap this up and go back,” Kuroo breaks Bokuto out of his trance.

“Huh? I mean- wha?”He is still very much tranced.

And BOOM! BoKuroo is born!

At First Sight

okay. so i DID say i dont rly write non-daminette maribat ships but im SO WEAK FOR SOULMATES that i just couldnt turn down this request. so here yall go first time writing timari (WARNING: THIS IS ANGSTY UNTIL LIKE. Marinette was used to the whispers behind her back. She was the only member of her class without a soulmark, after all. It was to be expected.

Chloe had, when they were younger, made sure everyone knew that Marinette was unmarked. She’d said it meant Marinette didn’t have a soulmate, that she was unlovable. Though she’d always tried to brush off others’ comments, it still hurt. The words pierced deep, and on that day Marinette decided that if she was to be unloved, no one around her would ever feel that way.

She took time every day to make sure someone around her felt uplifted. She brought treats, made gifts, talked with people who were alone. Chloe was cruel to her still, telling her that pretending to be nice would never change her. Telling her that, no matter what she did, she would never have a soulmate.

After so many years, Marinette began to believe her.

When she became Ladybug, her world changed. She had always stood up for others, never herself. But something about defeating a giant stone monster that used to be your classmate makes it easier to stand up for yourself, and so she did. Marinette, once a timid but kind presence, retained her kindness, shedding all of the timidity that once defined her.

She quickly became friends with the new kids, especially after Alya stood up for her and Adrien apologized about the gum. Her, Alya, Adrien, and Nino became close friends. It was one afternoon in the beginning weeks of spring that found the four of them hanging out in the park near the bakery. Chloe had walked over, a malicious smile on her face.

“You know what I just realized, Dupain-Cheng?” she asked without preamble. “These two don’t know about you!” she added, gesturing to Alya and Adrien. The two looked between her and Marinette, who was quickly paling.

“Chloe, don’t, please-” she protested, standing up quickly. She adopted a pleading look, her eyes wide and scared. Chloe simply laughed.

“Adrikins, Cesaire, did you know that our resident little goody-two-shoes here has no soulmate? That’s right! She’s unlovable, isn’t that right?” Laughing, Chloe walked away as Marinette wrapped her arms around herself.

She looked like she was trying physically to hold herself together. Her eyes were downcast, pooling with tears. She was unlovable. Why had she thought otherwise? She had no soulmark. She had no soulmate. Alya and Adrien would leave her, would think she was a freak like everyone else did. Nino would leave her too; he had only become her friend because there was safety in numbers. She would be alone again, she would be all alone-

Her train of thought was cut off when arms wrapped around her gently. She wrenched her eyes open to see a familiar blue t-shirt. She hugged Nino back, letting the tears stream down her face. More arms wrapped around her and she recognized Alya’s hands where they rested around Nino’s shoulders. When Adrien joined the group hug, Marinette allowed herself to smile. Her friends weren’t going to leave her. Her friends were by her side.

A year later, a new new girl had joined their class. Marinette feared repercussions when she told her to stop lying, but Lila never followed through on her threat. Two weeks after she’d declared war on Marinette, Chloe had told the class that Lila didn’t have a soulmark either. After class, Marinette had found Lila and told her she was also unmarked. Lila confessed to Marinette that her soulmark had disappeared when she was young, that her soulmate had died before she’d even had a chance to meet them. She cried in Marinette’s arms, and Marinette had readily comforted her.

The next day, when Marinette came in with personalized macarons for everyone, Lila looked at her with an odd mix of gratitude, surprise, and hope. The two became friends after that, baked goods and shared struggle helping Marinette connect to Lila.

When Marinette won the class a trip to Gotham for their end-of-year trip, the first people she told were Alya and Lila. The class found out soon after, but for a moment, the three of them were the only ones who knew.

On the plane, they discussed plans. All of them slept a bit, just so the jetlag wouldn’t be too bad when they got to America. Marinette slept soundly, knowing she had the horse miraculous in her pocket in case of emergency.

Wayne Enterprises was beautiful, and Marinette had to catch up to the class multiple times because she got sidetracked sketching out ideas for WE inspired outfits. At the end of the tour, they were going to meet the young CEO of the company. All of them were excited; he was just over their age and was already running his own company? He must be a genius!

What they were not expecting to see was a sleep-deprived teenager holding three cups of coffee. They were expecting it even less when he downed all three of them in around four seconds. He blinked his eyes open and swept his gaze over the class. When his eyes met Marinette’s, they both felt a shock go through them.

Wow, her eyes are really blue. Better keep her away from B, he might adopt her.

<<Wait, what? I didn’t think that!>>

I didn’t think that. Wait-

“Miss Bustier? I need to go to the bathroom, is there one on this floor?” Marinette asked, panic kicking in. How could she hear this kid’s thoughts? How could he hear hers? What if he heard something he shouldn’t?

The CEO spoke up. “There is. I can show you where it is, if the class is okay with waiting for a minute.” His voice sounded the same as it had in her mind. He walked over to her and took her arm gently, walking with her towards the restroom.

As soon as they were out of earshot of anyone, he quietly answered her unspoken question. “I’m your soulmate,” he said unprompted. Marinette blinked owlishly at him.

“But-”

“That’s impossible? You don’t have a soulmark, so you can’t have a soulmate? That’s not quite true. I don’t have a mark either, so I looked it up when I realized I wasn’t going to develop a mark. There are intangible marks, though they’re very rare. This is one of them. That said,” he turned to her, now that they were out of the class’s line of sight.

That said, he repeated, if you don’t want a soulmate, we can pretend this never happened.

She shook her head furiously. Of course I want a soulmate! I just can’t believe it. Oh my god. I have a soulmate!!

He looked at her curiously. Before, you were thinking in French. Are you thinking in English on purpose now? he asked, taking her hand gently between his.

Marinette blinked. No, I guess I just heard you and switched. It felt easier than trying to translate. Why?

It’s just, he replied, you sound so lovely speaking French.

Marinette turned bright red as the two went back to the group.

also i have a thing with my best friend and im sure thats dangerous but idrc rn bc boy oh boy does this boy just Know things and not even sexually like yes but i mean he asks if i drank water and makes sure i eat and wants me to go to sleep early when i work at 8am and watches over me when im in a depressive mood and like i had a fever the other night, bad because ive literally had a fever once and i was nine years old but anyway i had a fever and i was staying over his and we didnt realize it was a fever at first, i thought it mightve been laryngitis bc ive had it before and it started with the uncontrollable shivering and sore throat so he gave me pj pants and a sweatshirt and when we went to sleep he noticed i was rly warm and then we took my temp and found it was a fever and this boy, this boy still stayed in the same bed as me and brushed my hair out of my face and kissed me on the forehead and i asked why he was staying when theres the chance of him getting sick and he goes “its worth it” and yall yall i- and when i woke up the next morning to go to the bathroom i got dizzy on the way back and ended up on the floor whining as i struggled to take the sweatshirt off bc i got too hot and he helped me take it off and get up from the ground and then i felt like i was going to throw up so i ran back to the bathroom throwing my hair into a bun bc its rly long now and im just hacking because i hadnt eaten enough to throw anything up and he brings me water and sits on the floor with me letting me lean against him and we go back to sleep bc it was like 830 and when he wakes up around 10 he says i should still sleep and kisses me on the forehead and calls me cute even though i was a gross mess and when i actually wake up around 12 he tells me theres medicine on the desk and to take two and theres a towel if i want to shower and hes going to put stuff in the car and hes just,, so sweet but also he says things just to piss me off and i do too and half the time were together im cackling and he sends me cat videos but also bf tiktoks and he doesnt like when i tickle him but lets me anyway and he meets my friends and introduces me to his and he hates his glasses but knows i love them and hes not complimented enough which is a whole thing, boys not being complimented like what are your girlfriends doing if not calling you cute and hot and pretty and anyway he breaks me out of nonverbal moods and he understands my sign language even if it takes a minute and he says i make him smile when he doesnt want to and he watches my silly movies and shows and puts up with all that i am and says my room makes sense for me and lets me hate on his love of modern housing (its shit give me cluttered victorian or give me death) and he asks my opinion on his until last friday but anyway hes liked me for a while but he thought i still loved book boy and everything and wasnt expecting there to be anything for a while if ever and he feels like this is a dream and the way id do anything for him its bad man, theres such a blur between i love you and i love you and its difficult to differentiate because i only had four days with him like that before we went home for break and we only live like an hours drive away but we used to be a four minute walk and i miss him, i missed him the first night when i had to sleep alone in this bed thats bigger than my college one and so much lonelier than id ever anticipated and we still talk all the time but i dont get to hold out my hand randomly for a high five anymore and i dont get him playing with the curls in my hair and i dont get that adorable smile in person anymore and it makes me upsetti and i went to a concert yesterday with another one of my best friends and her boy friend and when i got back we were talking about us going to a concert in spring and i immediately started searching concerts near our school and got one in feb for someone hes been obsessed with and i like too and literally bought tickets right then and hes wanted a silk pillow and has talked about it for months so black friday i ordered one for him and i like need to calm down but ive never been with someone after just being friends for a while first let alone best friends like my first two bfs i dated shortly after meeting them and the next two were friends of a close friend first right so idk like i found this one all on my own and became close with him all on my own with no intention of dating, on my part and very slyly on his, and ive always wanted an enemies to lovers because im a broken bitch but i mightve severely downplayed the power of best friends to lovers

hello <3 since i got these asks at the same time i decided to combine my thoughts on them in this post. yet another annoying sjw essay from yours truly on this blog

before i get into these i think i need to preface why im like. i guess overly hyperfocused on a certain unproblematic base (same age au / platonic canon) for them and avoid the ped0philic content like the plague lol

as i’ve mentioned a couple times already, ive been into the ship since i was 12, back when it was very very common to not only post untagged (nsfw) canonverse content of the two in writing and in drawing but also non con and the like, so you can imagine how bad my first impression online was. thinking back on it ...as a child i found it disturbing but didnt really register how problematic it really was?? (i know, but i also lived in the middle of nowhere and had no one explain this to me)

skip to 2014 aka me coming back to naruto at 17ish and i had kinda become hyper aware of the fact that there was an increasing amount of people online who had come forward with explaining how fictional problematic content, mostly pedophilia, had been used to groom them into starting relationships with adullts. it was also a time where a lot of people didnt believe these victims, not registering how common it was for minors to be online friends with adults who had no boundaries and no qualms exposing them such content. not gonna get into my personal life here but i was lucky to not having gone through this myself. like... it kinda was my first time truly realising how fiction can EASILY be used to manipulate others irl (and yes i will not argue this, if you dont think fictional media can form and manipulate people’s opinions on attitudes, countries, cultures and virtues, pick up a book about the effects of propaganda media at least once please)

i, being young, still liking the dynamic but not really the romance, would point this out here and there in the fandom and get into fights with grown adults in their mid 20s who assumed i automatically hated the ship(s) and tried to restrict their freedom of speech or whatever, heard everything from the “age of consent doesnt exist in naruto” to the “sasori looks like a child what does it matter” despite people clearly playing on him being older and experienced. it made me so upset that people were just consuming all this content uncritically and exposing children to it tbh?? not really just sos but a lot of minor/adult ships in naruto in general. and thats where i sat down and thought, i do not want to be a grown adult talking down to children that point out how unsafe the fandom is. theyre absolutely right in drawing these boundaries and calling out adults who defend the uncritical consumption and creation of this content. i do not want to consume or create content that predators could use to groom minors, and i absolutely do want to let younger people in fandom know that i am respecting their comfort zones and want them to have a safe and fun experience. after all, naruto is not an adult show and i think a lot of people forget that!!!! i am not perfect in that regard but its something that i, at the age of 23, am very passionate about and strive towards to.

and i guess thats where same age au was born for me and i have been sticking to it ever since.

so finally we can move to the first question

aside from the fact that we both dont like canon sos, i dont think it would work out even if i wasnt prejudiced to it anyways. in all honesty, 35 year old canon sasori is not a redeemable character to me, given the fact that he’s easily amongst the cruelest villains in naruto (torturing and killing and taxiderming people for his own fun personal gain, never for a goal that served anyone but himself. how do you redeem having over 300 corpses in your backpack that you felt absolutely no remorse for killing). sasori was legit one of the only cruel villains that didnt had someone else pull the strings, which sends a clear message on kishi’s part, who absolutely loves to redeem villains LOL.

being that old, he obviously had already been very manifested in what he believed in, even if it was shakey, to the point where the first crack in that world view (sakura and chiyo protecting each other) immediately had him give up on his life all together. that, in my opinion, is not a man who’s going to know what healthy relationships would look like, regardless of it being romantic or not. 35 year old sasori to me has the same appeal as an expired can of tuna and he’s probably very happy 6 feet under. he’s supposed to be a failed gaara in that sense that he had no one to look out for him and therefore was never going to experience anything but a bad ending in life. its fine that hes dead honestly, it wraps up his short character development the best IMO.

adding to that, seriously, sakura was obviously interested in knowing why he was that way, and called him out for being seriously fucked in the head, but it’s weird to me that people assume she had any interest in actively rehabilitating him, let alone starting a serious romantic relationship with him. sakura who’s not only very, uhm, immature and straight forward when it comes to her romantic viewpoints also, as a big bootlicker, wouldnt soil her standing in the village by starting anything with a disgraced and far too gone criminal like sasori. shipping that version of sasori with sakura intimately is still going to set her up for a huge power imbalance that would be difficult to handle imo, even if she was the one in the fight ultimately exerting her power over him. i would still look at it and think damn she deserves better than having to play therapist for man like that lol.

additionally, even if you ignored all of this, you cant really ignore that sasori had already known her as a child, and that had been his first and most impactful impression of her. i dont think that sasori would look at 35 year old sakura and see her as a grown woman and not the little green girl she was in the fight. plus, you easily fall into predatory comparison territory between the “childish” and “womanly” and i have seen way too often in fic just being boiled down to her now being fuckable. a lot of of ships do this and i would just like to remind yall thats it not normal for adults to want to start relationships with children they have seen grown up or known as a child when they themselves were fully grown adults. therefore, maybe if sakura hadnt met sasori before it would be less of a problem? but that also obviously defeats the point of the dynamic and the reason he died in the first place. so yeah, it sounds kind of doomed especially if you were to make it romantic.

WHICH BRINGS ME TO THE SECOND QUESTION

let me preface this that im not fundamentally against age gaps, even if im not super interested in it. after all, colorblind had a 5 yr age gap (with sakura being 21), even if, say, i wrote similar fics today i probably would make it smaller lol. i think it can be handled well if both parties have enough life experience to deal with it, and the author is cautious of where the age gap starts, i think a 10+ year age gap would be fine in a scenario where the younger party (i guess sakura) was at least 25-27ish, meaning she has completed most of her most formative life stages and probably had been in relationships before, meaning she would be able to handle it without having to fear a huge power imbalance. the older the younger party is the less the age gap is going to matter tbh .TsukiHoshino and AngelOfDeath10 both handle age gaps in their fics really well imo, so i do not mind reading about them.

unfortunately, a lot of people in this fandom think making sakura barely "”””legal””””” (18, not even 20 which is hilarious to me because the source material is obviously japanese) because they both cannot stand her being past her “prime years” of being young fertile and fuckable to much older men as well as thinking a 20 year old is automatically old enough to handle that type of relationship. ive seen a lot of unironic takes that believe it will absolve them of callout posts if they throw around age of consent and “shes 18 now suckers!!!” enough lmfao. absolutely hilarious. aging a minor up without aging the adult down seriously reeks of predatory “cant wait until youre 18″ narratives and thats why i find it similarly disturbing as straight up pedo shipping.

ultimately, sasosaku is and will always be a inherently problematic ship in canon, which is why i think it should always be handled a little more responsibly in fandom spaces, ignoring or outright excusing the main problem factor, which is sasori, isnt going to convince anyone that the dynamic in itself is well written and interesting enough to explore in aus, like giving sasori the redemption most of us wanted him to have by aging him down to a point in time where he was still realistically going to allow being positively influenced, similar to gaara.

so really, what i think is well handled age gap and how most people handle age gap in the naruto fandom are two different worlds at times lol

tl;dr

canon shippers have never been anything but gross when i was younger and i didnt wanna be like that, even if youre “smart”enough to differenate, actual creeps dont really care and might use your content to blur the lines, sasori isnt rly redeemable so romantic canonverse realistically wouldnt make much sense and is still iffy, age gaps are fine if they are handled well, but given that the dynamic doesnt really need the age gap to still work im not that invested on making that an essential part of my shipping experience.
