The second season is honestly becoming increasingly harder to watch because what are they trying to do?
The show is titled Loki but he feels like a side character is his own show, I know many MANY things are happening but literally Loki is not the central figure driving the story.
My expectations were low but I did not know Disney could do this much worse!!!!
What the FUCK was episode 3 with the Miss Minutes thing and weird little Ravonna/Victor attempt???
Marvel is just getting worse and worse with what they're putting out, I want the character or even narrative driven stories back where people were well fleshed out, had consistency and their actions made sense to who there were!!! This feels like just trying to sell shock value because you know you have a base of consumers who will stay to see what happens to their favourite character.
They are absolutely ignoring all the material they have available to them to work with! This Loki has only experienced things till the Avengers movie, there is so much character deep dive they could do! What is the point of giving them their own show and then not talking about them at all??
I'll come to the queer things later cause boy do I have a list for that, but first of all, Loki is not a new character in any capacity??? He has been loved and is arguably the biggest fan favourite since his introduction, the amount of theories about him and what people would like to see is very well known!! Right in front of them is his still unclear feelings in his adoption, about being a Jotun, loosing his family and the complicated relationships with them. I can see they are acknowledging his God of Mischief status a little bit but!! Trickster!! Let us see him be a wild card properly!! Not in the sense of betraying his new TVA family - that's what it is and you can fight me on that- but being chaotic!! Yes, using his magic like with Brad!! SHOW ME HE IS A GOD!!!
The worst thing is how lost everyone feels, like I'm not talking about the whole free will conundrum everyone is going through, that is spectacular! Unfortunately it is not coming across, we literally don't get to hear any of the characters talk about what they think of it. There was the key lime pie moment but no follow up to what that is for Loki? It's just one crisis after another, maybe rehash some of what has already happened, bring back the seriousness of this!! The entire multiverse is at stake but we'll make it look like whimsical wishy-washy stuff??!??!!!
Don't get me wrong, I am LOVING the time travel aspect of it, where it looks like Loki/Mobius are on cute dates. But then make it real, the fucking queerbaiting is ridiculous. The throw-away comment in season one about looking being bi was just that and nothing else. And I'm not saying this cause aww they look cute together! But also cause the development of their relationship has been as such!! They have been very dependent on each other and that's not being addressed at all.
I know there are multiple posts about a possible betrayal and my fear is that they're going to try to use that to basically change everything about the characters again, a lot of OOC based on the fact that oh yeah they're going through an existential crises so it makes sense.
Sylkie made barely any sense to me even apart from the whole selfcest issue- they just imposed a the structure of what a straight relationship should be where there was barely any chemistry. S1 E3 had them as really good chaotic siblings/twins and then adding the romantic tones to that really ruined it. Trying to bring it back, possibly, is just weird cause so far they want very different things. These people just don't align together, stop forcing them to? The fact that they refuse to even talk about that kiss shows that they are keeping it open and not just acknowledging that "hey, we don't want the same things in life and I'm happy for you, you matter a lot to me but a romantic relationship is not happening. Also cause you know, we're the same person, lol."
Sylvie as a character is also very confusing rn, there is honestly no need for her to keep coming back in this way??? I'm going to reserve further opinions because half the season is left but I dont expect anything to really get better.

You were always a hopeful person. Trying to be positive no matter what. Seeing the good in people. Even in Loki.
You first met him in his glass cell in helicarier (a/n i have no idea how to spell it, it's that big flying thing in Avengers 1). You two talked and got to know eachother. He told you how his father lied to him, how Thanos tortured him and how he doesn't want to hurt anyone. You believed him. And promised him he will be okay.
Two years after the battle of New York you finally talked to your team mates. You made an entire power point presentation for Avengers to show them Loki is not evil anymore and they should at least give him a chance, like you did.
That's how you and Loki became close friends. Always spending time with the other one, talking about your interests, your cultures, books, movies, anything the both of you came up with.
You comforted him, when he had nightmares. He cuddled you when you watched horror movies and got scared.
He always came to you for advice and opinion and you were more than happy to help your best friend. He always hugged you afterwards as thanks.
Sometimes he even brought you a cake and some flowers, just because he 'felt like it'.
One rainy day he fall asleep on your lap in your room. As you played with his black silky hair you realized you don't view him as your best friend anymore. But as a crush. You felt a shy blush come up to your cheeks as you imagined how would it feel like to cuddle him whole night, to be held by him, kissed by him.
You caressed his cheek and hoped one day he would feel the same.
And as always, you became hopeful. You started to remember all those times he was very close with you, doing something only couples do (like the afore mentioned cuddling, falling asleep on your lap or even the freaking flowers) and hoping he is developing feelings for you.
You were wrong.
You remember that day clearly. It was nice and sunny outside. A perfect day for a walk in the park. You walked out from your room and started looking for Loki. You wanted to have a walk with him.
You heard some voices coming from the kitchen below. Including a velvety one you knew all too well.
You jumped down those 20 stairs. Voices got louder as you came closer. There was Loki and some woman in the kitchen. And nobody else. Your name fell from one of their mouth's.
Quiet as a mouse you stood behind the corner just outside the kitchen and listened.
"Don't tell me she's not annoying! She's practically your shadow and trails after you like a lost puppy. And not even a cute one!" the woman giggled. From her tone of voice you imagined her as a classical blond plastic fake gold digger. You expected Loki to stood up for you, like any good friend would.
He only chuckled. "You are right! She is always behind my back. So bothersome and clingy..." you heard gulping. Maybe they were drinking some alcohol. You prayed for him to be just drunk and not knowing what he's saying.
"So why do you keep her around so much?"
A moment of silence. "I don't really know. For fun, I suppose? She was only good for me to get out of prison. She's so naive to really think I am her friend it's hilarious!"
You couldn't breathe. You stood there like a statue. He was only manipulating you and playing with you. All this time.
Tears clouded your vision as you walked away from them. The whole world looked like a big grey blur to you.
You still went out. Better than stay in the same building with him. Sitting on a bench in the nearby park, listening to birds chirping and watching dogs play with their owners was somewhat comforting. The pain in your chest was still too big though. How could you trust someone who's a 'God of Mischief' or a 'Prince of Lies' of all people? He really did go out of his way to make you trust him, didn't he? All those gifts, hugs, hanging out, watching movies under one blanket. All of that was just him pretending. And you believed him.
You groaned and hid your face in your hands. You're friends with spies and trained soldiers, what if they're pretending just like him and they secretly love when you aren't with them? What if everytime you talk to them they secretly wish for you to shut up and leave? Paranoia and anxiety just won't leave you, will they?
"It will get better after high school they said," you stood up from the bench, "you will be more confident they said. My ass-" suddenly you tripped over a string and fell on your face. Your right cheek stung, your knees were scraped. As you were standing up a wet tongue started to lick your face. A golden retriever's way to greet you, apparently.
"Ollie, stop! I'm so sorry," the dog was yanked back by his leash. Ollie's owner held out his hand to help you stand up.
"It's okay. It's my fault, I wasn't looking where I was going," you dusted your clothes when you were finally on your legs. Ollie was jumping up and down, still trying to lick your face. Even through your emotional pain you couldn't resist and smiled.
"He's still an untrained pup, sorry if he's bothering," the unknown man was trying to calm him down once again, but you stopped him.
"He's not bothering," you bent down and scratched behind his ears. "Hi there little fella, aren't you one cute boy? Yes you are," you scratched and caressed his fur.
"He is cute, but quite handful. Still I wouldn't exchange him for anyone in the world."
"Anyone?" you asked.
"Yeah, you see I got him when I found out my partner cheated on me. I felt so betrayed I thought I'll never trust anyone else again," he said and sat down on the bench you were previously sitting on. "Sorry, I'm telling way too much than I should."
"No, it's okay. I know exactly how you felt. Something similair happened to me too," you looked away sadly and stopped scratching Ollie's fur. "That's why you got a dog? To replace that somebody who was previously in your life?"
He nodded. "At first I though I needed a pet to distract myself from the pain, but in reality all I needed was a life long friend who will never betray me. And what's better than a man's best friend?" he hugged his goldie and he licked his face.
You smiled. Maybe that's what you need. A loyal dog to keep you company. To give you emotional support through cuddles and to never leave you or lie to you. Unlike certain someone.
You chatted with him for few more minutes and then made your way to the nearest dog shelter.
*
The cutest little fluffy german shepherd was dozing off in your arms when you walked into your room. You naivly thought Loki will greet you and pretend to be nice again but he was nowhere to be found. Actually, none of the Avengers were nearby. 'That's okay' you thought. 'I'll at least be alone with this cute guy.'
You let him run around your bedroom, sniffing every corner of his new home, chewing on everything he could reach with his tiny snout. You threw him some of the squeeky toys you bought and watched him play. It lifted your mood, somewhat.
The dull ache from your chest didn't leave. Even when it got dark outside and your new companion dozed off in your lap. Soft laughter was coming from the party deck, which was quite far from your room so in reality it must've been much louder.
'So they returned, huh? Didn't even check on their supposed friend' you thought. Maybe you were right afterall. They never concidered you a friend.
Your phone started buzzing, a silly selfie of you and Loki lightened up the screen. 'What does he want? I don't wanna talk to him.'
You picked up. "Yeah?"
"Y/N!" hearing his voice nearly made you cry. "Thank Norns you finally picked up! Where are you?"
You squinted your eyes suspiciously. "Why?"
"I've been trying to reach you all afternoon! I couldn't find you anywhere and I have called you 5 times already. Are you okay?" he sounded worried. He really should've been voice actor.
"5 times? I didn't hear anything."
He groaned. "Yes, 5 damn times. You made me really sick with worry."
Liar.
"Whatever. I can do things even without you, you know."
"Why the attitude?" he asked a little less worried.
"You know what Loki? Do me a favour and leave me alone," you hung up sooner than your voice could crack. Silent tears streamed down your cheeks.
As you were standing up with the little pup in your hands and putting him in his bed Loki practically smashed down your door. You jumped back startled and nearly let go of your little friend who woke up and started barking.
"What the fuck Loki?!"
He looked at you, mix of fury and happiness in his eyes. "Okay, I don't know what I did that made you react like that to a simple 'where have you been the whole day' but you could've at least tell me you were going out. What if someone attacked you? And I wasn't there? What if-" he took a deep breath, anger leaving his eyes. "I'm just glad you are home and safe."
Liar.
Your puppy stopped barking and started wagging his tail, excited to have a new friend. He is just like you. Naive.
"Oh, and who is this little bundle of fur?" he reached out to pet his tiny head but you backed away.
"He's my new best friend. This is Rex."
Loki's face turned into confusion. "Darling, I thought that's my title," he laughed awkwardly.
You glared and hugged Rex to your chest. "Not anymore. Not after what I discovered about you."
"Discovered about me? What are you talking about?"
"Drop the act. I heard you. I heard you saying how I'm naive enough to think I'm your friend, how I'm bothersome and clingy and I was only good for you to get out of prison!" tears were flowing freely but you didn't care.
"Darling, what are yo-"
"I wasn't finished! I really thought you were honest with me. I thought all those times we hung out meant something to you! That you at least respect me. But no! You used me. You were pretending to be nice. All those times! And I believed you!" you started taking steps towards him, he was backing away.
"You misunderstood, I-"
"No! I don't want you to tell me anything! I'm not your plaything anymore! I grew a spine. And you can bet your ass I'm training Rex to bite you whenever you get close to me again!" his eyes started glistening but that must be just your imagination.
"Love, please let me ex-"
"Get lost Laufeyson," with those words you slammed your door in his face.

There's Just Time (A Loki x reader Fanfic)
Chapter Three: A Home Amidst Chaos
Summary: You were an explosion waiting to happen who found love in the arms of a hurricane. Loki saw you as an angel that calmed his demons. For you, he was a savior that taught you to trust your abilities, yourself, and others. When he died, you were broken. You clung to any hope possible and watched as it all fell away. With nothing left, stories from your youth flooded back of a mysterious force that controlled time and space, and you knew that you would do anything to see him again...even if that something meant teaming up with the Time Variance Authority to capture the man you love.
Loki's begins to feel things for you that he can't deny. Time can't change everything, and not all secrets can stay hidden.

moments in time (avengers era, prelude): part one
If the world was ending
You'd come over, right?
The sky'd be falling while I hold you tight
No, there wouldn't be a reason why
We would even have to say goodbye
“Alright, I’m finished!” Loki clicks a few more times on the outdated computer, sending something off to be graded. He sits back in his seat with his feet on your desk, sending a smile your way that is quickly diminished by the far-off look in your eyes.
“You know, if you’re anywhere near as bored as I am, we could go off and have ourselves a bit of fun elsewhere?” His eyebrows raise suggestively and you actually take him seriously for a second. Just a second.
“As lovely as that sounds, I think I’m going to pass. Besides, the faster you get through with the lessons, the faster we can actually go out and do something.” Your hand comes up and swats at his feet, but he moves them just before you make contact. He’s smiling again. The small chase is something he clearly needs in this dreary prison.
“Did they make you go through all this training as well?” Loki’s eyes follow a few people as they walk around the room. While he could be searching for an escape, you actually think that it’s more out of curiosity than anything else.
Your shoulders shrug. “Mine wasn’t quite as extensive. I think the difference in apparent moral compasses might’ve screwed you over in this case.”
Loki feigns hurt, hand clutching his heart dramatically. “Well, little one, it’s a good thing they left you in charge then, isn’t it?”
Loki props his feet back up beside you and leans back. “Do you mind if I take a break?”
You relax, mirroring his position with a sleepy smile. “Not at all. I would’ve already taken twelve if I were you.” Loki motions to the stack of magazines behind you and you offer one up to him. His hands flip it open to a random page, eyes scanning in bored interest. You miss the sound of his voice instantly.
“Hey, do you mind reading that out loud? It looks interesting.” Loki flips the page over so that you can see it. His eyebrows raise in confusion.
“You’re interested in motorized water vehicles?” You look at the bright blue page and struggle for a second to hide your distaste. No, you weren’t interested in that at all.
“Yeah, of course. They're...fascinating.” He looks totally unconvinced, but lets a small laugh fall from his lips. If nothing else, it was amusing to him.
“Well, alright.”
Loki’s lips move swiftly over the page, his voice low and soft as he reads the advertisements in the magazine. He finds the whole thing rather plain, yet he doesn’t stop. Every once in a while, his eyes glance up from the pages to see you. You, with your wide eyes and adorable little smile. Everything about you felt small, not necessarily because of your stature or status as a human being, but because you came off as so open and trusting with him. Your eyes droop as he continues to read, and he finds himself making a conscious effort to quiet his voice. Read softer, slower, so that you can rest. He wasn’t oblivious to whatever you had with him in your timeline, he just wasn’t quite sure what it was. Regardless, some part of him thought he might understand.
Just as your eyes fall shut, a loud timer rings throughout the cubicle. Miss Minutes pops to life on the desk, waking you suddenly. Loki curses the glowing clock in his mind, but shuts the magazine swiftly.
“Okay, y’all. Let’s review what we’ve learned!” Realizing that this wasn’t necessary for you to participate in, you allow your eyes to fall shut again. The harsh glow shines brightly behind your eyelids and you can’t help the frustrated little cry that leaves your mouth when her shrill voice scolds Loki for not taking things seriously. When your eyes open again, Loki is staring straight at you with an odd mix between amusement and determination. One might even call it...mischievous.
“How about I silence this alarm clock for you?” You sit up as his feet quickly fall flat on the floor. Loki rises, rolling up the magazine and swatting at Miss Minutes with an amused grin on his face. She dodges a few blows and your own smile crinkles your eyes when she scolds him a second time. Loki grabs another magazine off the desk and tosses it at you.
“Help me catch her!” You fumble to grab the magazine, rolling it up tightly once you get a solid grip on it. Laughter quickly escapes your mouth as you and Loki lunge for an increasingly annoyed Miss Minutes. Just as you think you’ve got her, the clock launches herself into the computer. Your paper weapon lands a blow with a solid THUNK...right on Loki’s arm.
You look up at him, stifling a giggle as he stares at his arm in shock. “I am so, so sorry, Loki.” The words barely make it out in between laughs. When his eyes land on your smiling face, they narrow dangerously.
“Oh, you clearly aren’t...but you will be.” Loki reaches for you and you shriek when his arms find your waist. He swings you around and you find it difficult to breathe once he finds out you’re ticklish. Loki’s eyes crinkle with joy, loud laughter leaving his own lips for the first time in what could very well have been years. It felt good to have the walls down. To not fear an ulterior motive or wonder if an attack would come at any moment.
Loki felt safe with you and, as much as he wanted to, he couldn’t blame it on any charade composed by magic. Not here.
“I see the lessons are going well.” Mobius stops by the side of the cubicle, watching the two of you as you quickly compose yourself. Loki’s arms move from your waist, but hover just below your lower back. He straightens up slightly, mimicking you with the intrusion.
Mobius lifts his hands in a surrendering motion, trying not to seem like a threat to either of you. You didn’t exactly see him as one, his arrival was just unexpected.
“Gear up, kids. We’ve had another attack.” Mobius throws Loki a jacket and he pulls it on as the three of you walk. Stopping to admire it, he turns to you and models the new look. The colors are drab and the orange block letters feel intrusive, but he looks good. He always does.
“It suits you.” His nose scrunches up in distaste.
“Well, it’s repulsive so I would hope not. However, I do appreciate the compliment.” Once again, you find yourself laughing as you follow Mobius into the briefing room.
The meeting is incredibly boring. Much of the same information they originally gave is being repeated, and whether that’s for Loki’s sake or theirs, you’re unsure. You tune in and out, taking in any new information or straying conversation from the usual briefings. It takes everything you have to hold your tongue when Hunter B-15 makes a comment about Loki being a variant, but he holds his own without any interference. Your mind is still on autopilot when Mobius starts listing off Loki’s powers, and when he says the term ‘illusion projecting,’ you interrupt out of pure habit.
“Duplication casting.” Your eyes raise suddenly when Loki corrects Mobius at the same time as you. He grins at you, excited by the knowledge you apparently have on his magic. He then falls into a speech that explains the intricacies and differences in his abilities. A speech you could likely recite from memory, but adore hearing nonetheless.
Loki finishes his explanation with a sarcastic, “But, you already knew that.” The words are smug, the self-satisfaction only heightened by the smirk he offers the room. That changes when he looks your way. Instead of the self-righteous smile, he instead gives you a look that is far more sincere, as if he wants his words to you to be the same, but genuine.
While walking over to where your crew would depart, Loki suddenly asks another question that you’re surprised hadn’t come up sooner.
“Will I be getting my powers back once we’re out there?” He turns to Mobius excitedly.
“Well, yes.” Loki grins at you, the mischievous look becoming more and more normal for him now that he feels a bit more secure.
“Aren’t you worried about me betraying you?” His face falls when Mobius shakes his head. The resounding “no” taking a hit to his confidence for sure.
“You already know we can catch you, how is betraying us going to get you any closer to the Time Keepers?” The spark instantly returns to Loki’s eye. He turns to you, allowing Mobius to walk on ahead of the two of you with a satisfied smile. He knew Loki wouldn’t step out of line, not with the promise of a meeting on the table.
“Are you working toward an audience with the Time Keepers as well?” That thought had never really occurred to you. Quite honestly, the only real thing keeping you here was Loki. It did bring up alarming questions though, things that you hadn’t felt the need to consider until now.
“I’m not sure. I haven’t really put too much thought into that part of my plan yet.” His face goes from confused to stern, trying to work through what you just said and how you could have possibly not had an end game here. What he didn’t know just yet, was that he was your end game. You suppose getting him that meeting was likely your goal now too.
“That’s a bit alarming, though I’m sure you have your reasons.”
The renaissance fair that you find yourselves entering is dismally dreary. The skies are grey and the air cold as ice. Loki starts in again, firing questions at Mobius that garner relatively mundane responses. It was all new to him, you understood that.
The brightly colored flags stood stark against the dark clouds and you soon found your mind drifting to other things. Other circumstances and memories.
Tony had once forced your entire team to go to a carnival, insisting that it was a great opportunity for ‘team building.’ Loki was completely over the comical magicians and juvenile illusions. He honestly was ready to leave the moment you arrived.
It wasn’t until he saw your eyes light up with the twinkling lights of the roller coasters that he decided the carnival might not be so bad. The way you couldn’t keep your joy from bubbling over at the oversized stuffed animals and sickly-sweet treats was so beautiful to him. He spent the rest of the evening following you from place to place, laughing as you jumped up and down in excitement over the same things that most adults here overlooked. You acted as a child would. It had embarrassed you when he mentioned that later, but his assurance that it was not a bad thing made your heart feel so full of love for him. Loki understood that you had lost much of your childhood. He understood that you were denied moments of wonder and were instead forced into endless seas of pain. He understood, and he adored you all the more for your ability to allow yourself to feel that happiness now.
“If this place excites you, I fear you wouldn’t be able to contain yourself on Asgard.” Loki leans close to you as he says it. A gentle smile causes his eyes to crinkle in the corners. You smile too, though you look down as your cheeks redden. You were caught.
“If that’s an invitation, I gladly accept.” You look at him, the burning in your cheeks diminishing as you gain the confidence to fall into a familiar banter with Loki. Now it’s his turn to be caught off guard.
Loki’s mouth opens and shuts a few times, and he ultimately opts to just shake his head with a small chuckle. “Perhaps it is.”
Your smile drops once the tent flaps open. If you thought outside was dark, this place is a black hole. Small torches light up the corners of the room, but the light that they offer is hardly enough to see. Bodies litter the ground and you nearly yelp when you accidentally bump into one on the floor.
Loki reaches out to steady you, guiding you over to a clearing at the center of the tent. He does it so absentmindedly, so naturally that it feels as though he’s done it a thousand times before. In your memories, he has.
The rest of the crew fan out, examining bodies and searching for any clues as to the whereabouts of this other variant. You turn to move, hesitantly trying to find your footing in the darkness, but his hand reaches out instantly to stop you. When Loki begins to talk, they all halt.
“If you leave this tent, you’ll end up like them.” It’s bullshit and you know it. Loki has this way of looking a little too thoughtful when he’s making things up on the spot. It had taken you years to get the hang of it, but you could often read him like a lie detector now. Not all the time, but the times where he was desperately trying to conjure up an entire scenario with no moments notice...those you could call.
He keeps talking, ignoring Hunter B-15 as she urgently announces how little time you all have left. Mobius watches him for any sign of deceit, but finds none. He has them fooled. That is, until Mobius catches your eye. You don’t know what Loki is planning, but you know it can’t go on much longer without causing serious damage. Mobius sees this, and he leaps in where you won’t.
“He’s lying, just playing games. There’s no one out there.” Mobius points at Loki with disapproval. “I expected more from you.” He looks at you then with even more disappointment. “Both of you.”
Back on desk duty, you sort through a few stacks of paper trying to get things back in order after yet another person decided to look through Loki’s files without so much as even attempting to put them back where they belonged. It seems he’s a hot topic here, though you should have guessed considering this is one of the most exciting things to happen at the TVA since you’d arrived.
There was so much information in these files, and you often felt like you were intruding by reading them. Of course, you were here because you knew more about Loki than any words in a file could tell a person, but it still felt a little wrong. You would be lying if you said you’d read every part of them. There were things too intimate in here. Things that should be left to his discretion to share...even if they were about you.
“Let me park ya at this desk with our previous Loki expert. Here’s a good trick, pretend like your life depends on this.” Mobius heads off to the cafeteria, leaving Loki standing before you.
“I suspected I might find you here. Seems like we’re being punished.” He looks around the stacks of files and books with disdain. This is likely the most dreary part of the entire TVA.
You pull his files off of one of the chairs and motion to it, rising to send the files back to their shelf.
“Oh, we’re definitely being punished.”
After about an hour, Loki is completely bored again. You don’t blame him. He’s read through the same paperwork on each of the attacks multiple times already. It was busy work.
You look over the paper you were reading when he animatedly gasps. “Don’t tell me the variant ambushed and killed another team of Minutemen!” Your hand comes up to stifle a laugh and Loki’s eyes land on you for a second before he goes back to reading, this time purposefully putting on a show for you.
It doesn’t take long for the both of you to start laughing. You know this isn’t going to get you anywhere, might as well have some fun with it. And it is fun.
Unfortunately, not everyone thinks so. The librarian behind you shushes the two of you loudly, causing you to bite your lip in an attempt to quiet your laughter. Loki looks at you, brows scrunching down as though he can’t believe what she just did. He offers you one more glance, then turns around and shushes the lady back. You don’t even try to stop your amusement and Loki turns back to you with a wide grin. After a few more minutes, you have to get up to use the bathroom. When you return, your heart nearly drops.
On the desk lies scattered papers belonging to Loki’s personal files. Pictures and detailed descriptions of major life events sit out in the open, and you can’t tell if he was just haphazardly looking through them, or if the files spread out were ones he had already read. Your eyes land on multiple folders pertaining to the two of you, his time spent in a cell, the months you sat by his side in attempts to understand him and help him acknowledge his own good. You see The Avengers Tower, knowing that you spent years there fighting alongside him, reading alongside him, sleeping alongside him. It was jarring to be hit with it all over again. When you try to speak, your breath hitches in your throat. Loki looks up instantly, shoving the folder he was reading beneath another and grabbing for one randomly.
“Loki…” Your eyes begin to water, this wasn’t the way you wanted things to go. He shouldn’t have looked. Had he seen everything?
He quickly stands, reaching for you. His hands rest against your arms and he leans down to meet your eye.
“Please don’t be upset. I didn’t read anything that would be improper. I just wanted to understand.” You refuse to look at him, knowing that the tears would fall the moment you looked into his blue eyes.
“Understand what?” Loki holds you a little tighter. You could feel his hands tremble.
“Why someone as delicate as you would care for a beast like me. I could absolutely destroy you without batting an eye. It would be easy...yet you trusted me not to. You still do, even now.” There’s a strain in his voice when he speaks. The sharp blade of his words paining you deep within your chest. He couldn’t possibly believe he was capable of anything so cruel. Not after everything he knew about what would have awaited him in the correct timeline.
“It’s because you’re not a monster. We both know you couldn’t kill me ‘without batting an eye’ because it would hurt too much. Did reading those files help you understand that at all?” When you finally look at him, his eyes are pleading. He lets out a deep breath of air that he had apparently been holding.
“I feel as though I’d have to see it played out myself. And I know that isn’t something you’re comfortable with. I accept that. I’m okay with that.” Each sentence is punctuated with a soft squeeze of his hands. He’s wrong though.
“No, Loki. Seeing it wouldn’t make a difference. Everything in those files are things that you need to live. Watching it and experiencing it are two very different things.” His grip loosens ever so slightly as his shoulders fall.
“But I’ll never get to experience it, will I?” Now it’s his turn to look down, glassy eyes barely hidden. It makes your own tears spring forward again.
“Not the same way it happened before.” He nods his head once, accepting the solemn truth. It would never play out quite the same as before. It couldn’t. When his hands release you, your own instantly come up to rub the tears from your eyes.
You take your seat again, pushing his files aside to grab for another on the variant attack. Loki follows close behind, taking his own seat. You work in silence, feeling his eyes on you as you focus on ignoring his still-open files.
“I meant what I said by the way.” Your hands stop, hovering over another one of his folders that you were prepared to push away.
“What?” When you look up, he’s watching your hand. You drop it and his gaze falls to the desk in front of him, contemplating his words before he says them.
“I didn’t read anything that you wouldn’t have otherwise told me about. It was tempting, and I will admit that I saw the names on a few of the folders, but I find myself respecting you far too much to do anything like that. I suspect I know why.” As he says the last sentence, he meets your gaze once more. There is so much vulnerability in the air, you feel as though you might suffocate.
After a moment, you nod at him. Even if he had read every single file, he hadn’t done anything wrong. They were his files, his life, his choice. The way he said it though, reminded you that you could tell when he was lying. He wasn’t.
It takes another hour, one shrouded in silence, until Loki sparks up again. He lets out a little excited gasp, and when you look up at him you swear you can see tears in his eyes. You have no time to question him though, as he grabs your hand and runs with you to the cafeteria to find Mobius.
With a lot of effort and time spent convincing Mobius, some of that time used watching Loki goof off and completely season Mobius’ salad to death, your little team is off to Pompeii. Loki had come up with this theory that the variant was hiding in apocalyptic events, able to do whatever they pleased because the whole place would be wiped out. Nothing they did mattered there, so they could scheme without any interference from the TVA. That was the theory.
The village was beautiful, peaceful in a way that you weren’t accustomed to. As Loki and Mobius spoke behind you, you once again found yourself lost in the sights. There was a silence that echoed in your mind every moment you spent without your powers. In most places, you could almost ignore it, convince yourself that the hollow space within you was nothing but a ghost. There was always so much energy in places like the TVA. You could pretend that energy was more than just the normal buzz.
Here though, things were different. You felt a sudden sense of grief run through you. These people would be filled with fear in a matter of seconds, and you would be powerless to do anything to help them. They would be in pain, and you could offer them nothing. It left you feeling empty and useless.
A whoosh of air whips past you, breaking you from your sadness. Loki jumps up onto the back of a goat carrier, unlatching it and cheering the goats on as they run from their enclosure. You stare in shock, looking back at Mobius who only shrugs at you and shakes his head.
When he begins speaking Latin, you can only make out a few words. He’s so animated, it’s almost comical.
The volcano explodes behind him and the crowd screams, running for cover. Loki continues to run around throwing things and laughing.
“Nothing matters! Enjoy your last meal, dance while you still can!” He comes to a halt in front of you, holding his hand out toward you.
“May I have this dance?” You shake your head in disbelief. This doesn’t deter him though.
“Loki, are you serious?” He holds his hand out a little further, dropping the ‘end of the world’ charade and smiling at you genuinely. He looks almost shy.
“It is the end of the world, after all.” You look around, most of the people have left. What was happening was a terrible tragedy, but Loki was right; there was nothing you could do. Sometimes there just wasn’t.
His hand is large, making you feel safe as he closes it around yours. Loki gently pulls you close to him, resting his hand on your waist and guiding you in circles. He spins you around, and for a moment this chaos actually feels like home.
There are occasions when not having a sense of time isn’t quite so bad. You could drift through life, doing what needs to be done without worry of running out of it. Things felt like they went by quickly. This wasn’t one of those occasions.
Mobius flips another page in his folder and sighs. He rubs his eyes and shuts it, handing it to you to be placed amongst the various others you had already read through. A sleepy yawn leaves your mouth. As much as you hate field work, at the very least it required less monotony than this.
You really can't help it when your eyes begin to drift shut. Just like that, everything goes quiet.
Mobius watches you and Loki with an amused eye roll and tiny smile. The two of you had fallen asleep at the desk. You were leaning against Loki, his arm draped over you and holding you protectively to his chest. His head rested on top of yours, relaxed in a way that Mobius had yet to witness from either of you.
For two people who never quite let their guard down, you sure were calm now. Mobius remembered the day he first met you, a scared and desperate kid who nearly broke down when he agreed to give you a chance. You always played up not trusting him, but Mobius knew he was the closest thing you had to a friend for a long time before Loki appeared. You had depended on him, and he found himself wanting to keep that faith in him alive. You were just a kid, you didn’t deserve to have to go through half of what you already had.
Loki was a slightly different story. While Mobius knew there was much more to the god than trickery and illusions, he wasn’t anywhere near as gentle as you. While you hunted by demand, Loki did so for sport. He knew why you were attracted to Loki, he had read your file. You were a healer above all else. You found purpose in providing peace amidst turmoil. Loki was the ultimate hurricane. That had to be it. There was obviously no other explanation for your unwavering drive to protect him.
Mobius didn’t know it, but that was a very small piece of a much larger puzzle. The complexities with which you and Loki loved was not something that could be deciphered through reading. It wasn’t trivial in the slightest. It was deeply and remarkably emotional.
No, Mobius only saw a scared little boy and a girl who wanted to banish the fear from his heart. Suddenly, it hit him. Scared little boy!
A slam on the desk causes you to jump, awakening you from your nap. There’s something solid beneath your head, much softer than the wooden desk you expected to feel. Opening your eyes, you find yourself resting against Loki’s chest. It feels so safe here, so calm. His arms hold you close to him and you notice when he struggles to open his eyes. It felt like you hadn’t slept in days, so you understood the sentiment completely.
When Loki finds you snug within his arms, his heart beats a little faster. He's sure you can hear it, your head is so close to his chest. You're so fragile to him, and having you here against his body stirs up something within him that screams at him to protect you. He barely has time to process everything before Mobius flips open a file in front of the two of you.
“Wakey, wakey, kids. I found something on that Kablooie we picked up at one of the scenes.”
Rising from Loki’s chest, you feel his hands fall from around you. You miss him immediately.
“What’s that?” Loki stretches, leaning over to see the bag that Mobius pulls out.
“Candy. Do you have candy on Asgard?” Mobius looks at Loki incredulously.
You shake your head, both in response to the question and to clear the sleepiness from your mind. “Nope. None that he’s ever eaten anyway.”
Loki pipes up defensively. “Well, we have grapes, nuts, things of that sort.” Mobius looks at you, shock on his face. You shrug. When you first found out that Loki had never had candy, you made it your mission to overload him on sweets. You always adored sweet things, and sharing that with him was one of your favorite pastimes. Maybe that could be something you did again.
“No wonder you’re so bitter.” Loki stares after him, taking offense to the comment. Mobius doesn’t even notice, opting instead to slam another stack of papers down. Time to continue your work. At least you had a lead now.
“Remember, this is a class ten apocalypse. The variant should be considered hostile, and it is important to keep an eye out for reset charges. The variant steals one every time there is an attack.” This briefing is one you actually find yourself paying close attention to. You’d been to a few apocalypse sights while working with the TVA, not to mention the trip to Pompeii just recently with Loki and Mobius. While this shouldn’t be anything too extreme, the fact that the Loki variant could be there made you worry. While you knew finding this variant could get you one step closer to finally being free with Loki, something held you back.
Arriving at the sight, the rain pummels you brutally. The blue glow of the Roxxcart sign reflects off of everything around you. Holographs flicker in the rain, and you would almost find it pretty if not for the chill of the water.
By the time you make it into the store, you’re shaking and dripping wet. Loki stops beside you, puddling water onto the floor. Your nose scrunches up, attempting to hold back a sneeze, but you can’t. Trying not to call any attention to your shivers, you just smile at Loki and shrug it off.
Loki looks you over quickly, taking in the wet clothes and blue tint to your lips. His hand comes up and a bright green glow washes over you, instantly drying your clothes and warming you up.
“Wouldn’t want you catching a cold.” Now, he smiles and the green light dries him as well. You nod in thanks, bumping his shoulder and walking over to the rest of the group with him.
“Alright, I’ll go with our little sorcerers-”
“No. You two head out with D-90. He stays with me.” Mobius fights the hunter on this, insisting to no avail that Loki should stay with you guys. Eventually, she forces him to back down but the same definitely won’t be said for you.
“I go where he goes.” The hunter sighs and turns to you, staring you down. Walking up to you in an attempt to appear intimidating, she stands nearly chest to chest with you. It wouldn’t be that easy though.
“We don’t need you here. If you don’t want to follow my command, you can leave.” You glare back at her. If she thinks that you were going to back down now after having gone against the most powerful force in the universe, she had another thing coming to her.
“We both know exactly what I’m capable of and why I’m here. Don’t fucking threaten me.” She rolls her eyes, but you’re not finished.
“Every emotion, every fear, every little thing that you’ve pushed down because it’s just way too much to deal with. I’ll make you feel it. You will never know what peace is again. We can work together, or I can be the worst nightmare you’ve ever experienced. The only difference will be that you can never wake up.” The hunter’s eyes widen for the slightest of seconds, but it’s long enough for you to see that you won. Pushing past her, you walk back over to Loki and start heading down the hall.
Loki stares at the hunters and Mobius, eyebrows raised and expression definitely showing that he felt the embarrassment for them. He points in your direction and follows after you, impressed and completely in awe. It was easy to forget how scary you could be. Everything about you felt calm and sympathetic. You were easy to underestimate, but maybe that was deliberate.
The lights flicker around you and your heart rate picks up. You were never a fan of dark, enclosed spaces. When Loki’s footsteps catch up to you, you’re relieved for multiple reasons.
“That was quite impressive. Albeit, a bit frightening. Remind me never to get on your bad side.” You try to keep the smile off of your face, but his grin makes you feel at ease. Rolling your eyes, you smile back at him.
“I really doubt you’re scared of me.” Loki walks a little faster, getting in front of you and walking backwards to face you.
“You’re right about that. I don’t often back down from dominant individuals. It does do something to me though.” He winks at you and you laugh, smacking his arm playfully. You might just be thankful for the darkness now, considering it’s hiding the bright blush on your cheeks. You would never get used to the way Loki’s flirting made your stomach flutter to life with butterflies.
Your eyes suddenly catch sight of a man standing by the plants. “Who is that?”
Loki turns instantly, standing between you and the man. Hunter B-15 walks up to question him, her weapon held out protectively. Looking at him from behind Loki, you recognize something in him. Something that doesn’t feel like it should be there. God, you wish you could use your powers right now. Nothing felt right, but without them you had nothing to back that up. Still, you would risk looking foolish if there was a chance that you were right.
“Something’s off about him.” Loki turns his head to acknowledge you.
“What?’ The hunter walks closer to him, telling him to head back to the main part of the store.
“Wait, something isn’t right!” B-15 turns to you, but the man grabs her and falls limp. You don’t miss the light green magic that flows between them. She turns and smiles at Loki.
“So, you’re the fool the TVA brought in to hunt me down.” She looks at you from behind Loki, smiling wider. “And of course you brought the pet.”
Although it takes you a second to recognize what just happened, Loki catches on instantly. He smirks at her.
“Me, I presume. It’s so nice to meet you.”
She motions for him to follow her as she makes her way through the aisles. Loki squeezes your arm. “Stay behind me.”
“I was so worried that they’d found a better version of me. But now, seeing how delusional you are working for the TVA...well, I’d say that fear is gone.” Her legs swing, mocking you with how nonchalant she appears.
“I don’t work for the TVA, I work for me.” The variant turns around to face the two of you fully. She smiles and clicks her tongue condescendingly. Her head tilts, catching your eye.
“It’s cute that you believe that. I’m an enchantress, Loki. I can tell when someone’s under a spell.” He follows her gaze, moving to hide you fully when he notices where she’s looking.
The variant lets out a breathy laugh and turns back around. A worker walks up to her, and before you can do anything to stop it, the magic shifts between them.
Loki doesn't miss a beat, talking before the worker is even fully enchanted.
“I have an offer for you, that’s why I found you. I'm going to overthrow the Time Keepers and, cards on the table, I could use a qualified lieutenant." You try not to let that get to you. He says it so easily, the words flowing without any hesitation. It couldn't be the truth, right? You could read him like a book, but right now you were struggling. It was just the nerves.
"And I assume you mean me and not your little pup." That one hurts. For so long it was common for people to see you as some lost child next to Loki. They treated you as though you were a victim, being corrupted and taken advantage of while blind to it all out of love. You weren't blind, and you weren't some useless toy.
You were so caught up in your thoughts that you almost missed the look he gave you.
Loki's eyes lock on yours minutely. He tilts his head just slightly, but you know the look. He has a plan. Trust him.
"There’s only one person I can trust. So what say you, Loki?" He holds his arms out invitingly, gently pushing you further back in the process.
"Don't call me that. Enough with your games, I'm not interested in ruling the TVA."
Their eyes take on a shift, anger surging through them as they turn away. Loki follows after them.
"If you don't want to overthrow the TVA, what do you want?" Electricity hums around you, the lights flickering violently. When they go down, you can see the orange glow radiating from multiple spots around you. Loki looks around as well, he faces you with an urgency that sparks panic in you.
When he speaks, his voice is low and rushed. "Go find Mobius. If there's a fight here, you don't need to be a part of it."
Your head shakes and you reach for him. If there was going to be a fight here, you weren't going to leave him. You were never the best fighter, not without your powers. You could help though. You had to.
"I'm not leaving you alone with them." He wants to disagree with you. The conflict flashes in his eyes, but he has little time to argue. Loki nods his head toward the corner. If you want to stay, you don't need to be at the center of it.
Loki turns and steps toward the variant slowly. They changed again while the two of you spoke. This new body was large, clearly strong and far more intimidating than the previous.
Loki is undeterred and his arms stretch out, directing the attention to the glowing charges around the room.
"I see, that's your plan. Lure us all here so you can blow the place up."
Overhead, the lights flicker again. You see them charge forward and scream when they kick Loki forcefully across the room.
"Thank you for helping me stall for time, you really do love to talk." Loki rises just as the variant steps forward. You scan the room for anything that could be of use and find a cable hanging off of a shelf.
Your arms reach for it, swinging it overhead and wrapping it around the variant's neck. Your legs swing up and use his back as leverage to pull harder on the cable. Natasha had taught you a thing or two and you were now thankful for the hours spent getting kicked around by her on a mat.
Loki rushes to you, punching the variant in the face. You feel him stepping backwards and can't move fast enough to avoid smashing into the aisle behind you. The metal digs into your spine and you yelp in pain, letting the cable go. Your body falls to the floor and the variant grabs for your throat while you attempt to recover.
Just as his hand is about to close around your neck, Loki swipes his feet out from under him. The man's head slams against the floor, temporarily incapacitating him.
Loki locks his hand on yours to help you rise.
"Are you alright?" You nod your head rapidly, getting up to make yourself less of a target. "Are you?" Loki checks himself over. "It appears so."
The break is short-lived as Loki takes a hard hit to the side. The variant locks its sights on you. He kicks violently and you barely dodge it. Your arm swings back to strike the man in the face, giving Loki the chance to run back over to you.
Loki grabs you quickly, pushing you behind him as the enchanted man sends another kick your way. He blocks it, but just barely. Loki summons a vacuum cleaner to his hand, swinging it around to send the man flying back. He runs over to you, holding your arm and looking back occasionally to make sure the man is still down.
“If I can get you close enough while distracting him, do you think you could stop the enchantment or put him to sleep?” You shake your head, knowing that you can’t. His powers may be available to him out here, but yours still aren’t. As long as the TVA knows where you are, your powers are kept from you.
“I know you probably don’t use them much now, but I know what you can do! This Loki is incredibly resilient, I’m going to need your help if we aim to stop him.” You continue to shake your head adamantly.
“I can’t.” He grabs your hand, knowing that your magic often resonated from the centers of your palms.
“Yes, you can. I’ll take the fall for it, you don’t have to worry about a thing.” Loki squeezes your hand in his, the urgency in his actions hitting you down to your core. You feel useless. Your fighting abilities were minimal at best. Loki could take this variant without you, but you were barely a distraction to him. The TVA had left you powerless and with very little means to protect yourself. You couldn’t do anything and it made your stomach twist now that it was directly affecting Loki too.
“Loki, I can’t!” A small spark stings the hand that Loki has wrapped in yours. Your eyes grow wide at the feeling, knowing that it couldn’t have possibly been you...right?
A low chuckle sounds from behind the two of you and Loki rises to hide you from the opposing figure. They're much smaller now, and their voice is softer.
“Leave the poor girl alone." The person steps closer, slowly shaking their head at Loki as though scolding a child.
"How is she supposed to use her magic when they have her chained up like a dog?"
Loki turns back to face you, a thousand questions floating through his mind. Only one matters at this moment though.
"They keep them from you, even out here?" His eyes fill with pain, knowing that he played a part in that somehow. Even if he hadn't outright forced you to do it, it was still his existence that led to it. You had abandoned a part of yourself for him.
You look down, suddenly feeling humiliated. The shame of what you were willing to lose felt so much heavier now that he knew. It wasn't just a temporary restraint like he had been given. At this point, you had been severed from your powers for what felt like years. It was shameful.
He struggles to find the right words to say, but nothing can make this better. He couldn't imagine the pain you were in. Remembering the person behind the two of you, Loki says what he needs to in order to keep the focus off of you. He knew you weren't useless without your powers, the fight you had just put up proved it. You didn't quite see that same strength in yourself though, so he wanted nothing more than to ensure you weren't the target of this variant's attacks.
"You clearly know she's no threat to you, so what do you want from me?" Loki turns away from you, stepping up to the variant.
"This isn't about you."
Everything in the store powers down. As the lights go out, reset charges glow and vanish in squares of glittery gold.
In front of you, the variant picks something up and waves at you and Loki with a satisfied grin. She disappears in the portal before you can even think to move.
The glow of the portal casts Loki in a golden light. He stands by it, watching as the variant runs through and disappears. You can see the hesitancy in his face. He's struggling.
“Loki-” Before you can even finish, he cuts you off with urgency.
“Come with me.” You make no move to approach him, fearing that he might do something rash if he feels trapped. You’re confused though. He couldn’t have just asked that, could he? He knew you had no powers now, so why wouldn’t he just go?
“What?” Loki quickly turns to face you, taking long strides to reach you in as little time as possible. His hands come up to squeeze your arms, trying desperately to garner all of your attention. He needed you to see how serious he was right now. How sure.
“Come with me. I know that there is much more to our story, and while I respect your wishes not to show me, I also don’t think I’m ready to live this life, my life, without exploring what still could be.” His eyes are so piercing, so pleading.
You’d given up everything once to see Loki again. Risked imminent death just for the small hope that he might still be out there somewhere. Hell, you had gone against the Time Lords themselves to reach the TVA so that you could find Loki...and he hadn’t even asked that of you then. Why now, when he’s nearly begging you to run away with him, would you say no? He knew your powers were being locked away from you, yet he still wanted you beside him.
What you didn't know was that the discovery of your powers was the final straw for Loki. His time with you may have been limited so far, but he was certain that the kindness and genuine care for him that you showed, even when you didn't think he'd find out, was not something that he could ignore. In his heart, he knew that he held so much emotion for you. Even now, the urge to have you by his side was far too strong to deny. The fact that his affection was clearly mutual made him ache for further discovery.
Behind you, hunters and TVA agents run closer. You can hear Mobius calling to you and Loki, but neither of you make any move. Loki is waiting for your decision. It suddenly dawns on you that he might not leave if you don’t make one, or if you decide to stay. He would sacrifice what was likely his only opportunity to escape if running meant leaving you behind. You already knew your answer, but that solidified it. You would happily go wherever Loki led you, because you knew that he would do the same.
“Let’s go.” His eyes twinkle with relief and pure happiness at your words. You chose him. You knew he was unaccustomed to that; to being someone's choice. He’d have to get used to it very fast now that you two were going to be on the run together.
Loki grabs your hand, stopping once more to look at Mobius apologetically. You would be lying if you said it didn't hurt a bit to betray him. You had to though.
With that, Loki pulls you through the portal with him. It seals shut behind the two of you in a glittery display of light.

Loki x Sylvie Post-Finale Fanfiction (Angst, Rated Teen) Part 1 of 2
SPOILER ALERT.
It's probably just the alcohol, but the beats of the music are starting to sound a little bit like a marching drum that's announcing war. She can feel herself dancing along to it, but her whole body is on alert, ready to switch to fight and flight any second.
"So, cool place huh?" The bloke in the leather jacket asks.
She tries to remember his name. Jeff something. Or maybe Jed. No, not Jed, she's thinking of Star Wars again. That's what happens when you binge watch a multiverse of movies in a single day.
Oh, yeah, that's right. She broke the multiverse.
Another shot of tequila, and she takes not-Jed's hand in hers. It doesn't feel right, at least not the way-
No.
She realises he asked her a question, but she can't remember what, and she just laughs, because that always works.
Encouraged, he leans in close and whispers into her ears. "How about we get out of here?"
"And go where, exactly?" She asks, but she's not sure he understands, not with how slurred the words come out.
She laughs again, and this time, it's bitter. This time, she's laughing at how this is so him, this getting drunk in the face of imminent danger and making a mess of things.
(But I'm not you.)
---
She's frozen in her place the second the glowing yellow door appears. But it's not for her, at least not this time.
She hasn't been on the run for a while. Doesn't need to be. Because even though she is the one who unleashed the chaos, it's the chaos that needs to be contained immediately. She's low on the list of priorities.
The TVA will come for her. But not right now.
---
It's extremely easy pretending to be a psychic. All she has to do is take her client's hands and enchant him, find a memory, describe it back to him.
Sometimes she does it just for fun, just to see the look of amazement on their faces.
Other times, she does it for the money she needs to survive.
"And I see a blonde woman. Very beautiful."
"That's my wife."
The way he smiles, loving and proud, makes her heart drop.
"What do you see in her future? Is she happy? Does she get the job at the magazine?"
There is definitely at least one timeline where she does get the job, but The Enchantress cannot exactly tell if it's this one. She can't actually see the future, after all.
She sees the colors drain from his face as her silence swallows the room. "She's going to be okay, right? I just want her to be okay."
(I just want you to be okay.)
There's that bitter laugh again, because-
No. She can't do this right now.
"She loves you very much", she whispers, to the man in front of her, and to the man who is not there to hear those words.
---
Mobius finds her in the middle of a concert by a Nirvana where Kurt Cobain never died. She can easily slip away, disappear into the screaming, writhing crowd if she wants.
Or she can just take him some place quiet and hear him out.
"Help us", Mobius pleads. He sounds exhausted, and not just physically. "We're outnumbered and outwitted. Our world is in danger."
"This isn't my world", she reminds him.
"Yet, you're here", he retorts.
Her smile is pained. "Where else will I go?"
He is sympathetic, like he always has been. And he offers her a new glorious purpose. "Come with me. We need you. He needs you."
She feels the air find its way out of her lungs the same way she pushed him out of her life- painfully, forcefully. "H-how is he?"
"He's okay... all things considered."
Now there's a cocktail of relief and disappointment that will give her months of sleepless nights.
"Tell him I'm-" she starts, but she doesn't know how to finish that sentence. What can she tell him? That she's sorry for not trusting him when she should have? That she's sorry for making the universes collide?
That she's sorry for betraying him and breaking his heart?
(How will I know you won't betray me at the end?)
"Nevermind."
---
It's been really hard facing the consequences of her actions, watching the timelines bleed into each other and destroy people's lives- families torn, achievements gone, every little anomaly delving into death and destruction. Every headline on the newspaper is her fault, and she has to live with that.
But that seems so easy compared to this moment where she has to face him.
The plan was to send him away, kill He Who Remains, give people their free will back, save the world, then come back to him. Yeah, he'd be mad at her at first, sure, but he'd forgive her eventually, she was confident.
Then the timelines started to branch the minute she stuck the dagger in that terrifying man's chest, and she knew she had screwed up.
She had sunk to the ground in defeat as the realisation of the repercussions hit her, and she did what she has always done- run.
She didn't even realise she had sent him to the wrong universe until she teleported herself into another universe as well. The journey back was long and lonely, but she dreamt of him in colors while the world was bleeding red, and that was enough to keep her going.
She doesn't really know what she'll do when she sees him again. Neither does she know what reaction she expects from him. Nothing he can say to her can be worse than what she thinks of herself.
A part of her hopes he would be overwhelmingly happy, he would come running to her, just like he did at The Void, greet her with the smile that has won a hundred hearts- including hers, and tell her everything will be alright. Another part of her fears that he would be furious, and he would confront her with accusations of unleashing havoc on all worlds- especially his.
What she never expected is this eerie calm that makes her feel like she is standing in the storm center.
His walls are up.
And it causes her to redirect the anger she feels at herself towards him. There's venom in her voice. "So you do get to rule, after all."
"I don't feel much like a king." He shrugs. "I'm more of a multiversal janitor. Mopping up multiversal messes."
"My messes."
"Our messes." He corrects, his features softening around the edges. "We made a mistake." He has been saying that ever since he found himself in the alternate TVA, and that hasn't changed even after getting back to his own version of the bureau. Always "we", never "she". He simply cannot bring himself to blame her without taking accountability for his part in the mess.
"Don't patronize me." Her hands are shaking, just like her voice, a sharp contrast to his steady silhouette, and can he just hold her, please? "I don't need you to take the fall for me."
His eyes go cold, like they were forged in the heart of Jotunheim. "Of course not", he says, fully composed. "You don't need me for anything. It's not like we're in this together."
(Maybe we can figure it out-together.)
---
She now knows her walls don't- can't- keep the hurt out- it just keeps her locked inside this cage of distrust and insecurities. And the price she has to pay for it is too high.
They could have been lying on a beach somewhere, sipping mimosas right now. Instead, they're here, in the vast, silent library of the TVA, sitting on separate tables, reading files on variants.
The only thing worse than bearing the weight of his gaze is having him stare at his files without looking in her direction even once. She can't take it anymore.
"I'm sorry." She suddenly blurts out.
He looks up, confused. "I'm sorry?"
"I'm sorry for what I did." She repeats. It's difficult to start an apology, but once she finds the strength to begin, the rest of it flows automatically. "I'm sorry I messed up everything. I'm sorry I broke the timelines. I'm sorry the world is in danger." She takes in a deep breath. "And I'm sorry I betrayed you."
His smile is the saddest kind. "A Loki betraying a Loki. That's the least surprising thing in the world. What's shocking is how I didn't see it coming. You really had me going with that kiss. Very nice distraction. Very Loki."
Free will comes with the fine-print of living with the consequences of your choices. And she has to live with hers every day. The tears finally spill out of her eyes. She hasn't let herself cry for a long, long time. But now she's breaking down worse than the multiverse. "I didn't do it to distract you. I did it to say goodbye."
He gets up, and she panics that he's leaving. Instead, he sits down in front of her, reaches for her hand, but changes his mind mid-way and lets them fall to his side. "You didn't have to say goodbye."
"It's all I've ever known." She feels like that scared little girl, far from home, running from minute men, with nobody to turn to but herself. "I told you, I don't have anyone."
"You had me."
That's the saddest part of it all, isn't it? Everything else in her life is the TVA's fault. She's torn from Asgard? Hasn't seen her parents in years? Can't remember her brother Thor? Spent her whole childhood running and hiding? All TVA.
But this? This is all her own doing. This is the one time she had something real, something worth holding onto, someone worth fighting against the world for. Instead, she questioned his intentions, didn't hold on, fought him and ruined everything.
"I didn't want to rule, Sylvie", he finally tells her. "I wanted you."
She has dreamed of this moment when he tells her how he feels. They have come so close to it so many times, the words dangling off the edge of his tongue but never quite finding their way out. She has always known- every word, every action pointed to it. But it was so hard to imagine someone could love her.
It's so hard to imagine someone can love her again. The past tense in his wording terrifies her worse than any danger ever could. "Is it too late to fix things?"
His smile doesn't reach his eyes. "We are fixing things. That's why we are here. Saving the universe."
"You know what I mean."
"I don't know how to trust you again, Sylvie." He tells her point blank- no deception, no lies, no Loki-ism. "And you never trusted me to begin with."
That's not entirely true. She trusts him more than she has trusted anyone. "I really thought I was doing the right thing."
"I know."
(Not to be dramatic, but yeah, we're saving the universe.)
---
The Avengers are much nicer than Loki described them, considering they don't kill her for what she has done, instead tell her about their own journeys towards redemption. Wanda tells her about the man she has loved and lost, and the pain she has caused to an entire town. Barnes talks about his past as a brainwashed assassin. Clint tells her the story of Natasha and how she took charge and changed her life.
Thor is the kindest of them all. He talks about how far Loki himself has come. He tells her stories of his version of Asgard, the nine realms, the glorious battles, the beauty of earth.
She still dreams of death, but sometimes she doesn't.
Sometimes, she hopes.

Episode 6 reaction
Spoilers ahead!
Whoa boy! Yet again that did NOT go in the direction I expected! Overall I really enjoyed that and I’m excited to see what happens next. I can’t believe they left us on a cliff hanger like that!!! I do kinda hope this opens the door to Loki getting to be in the films with Wanda and Dr Strange at some point in the future (I want my magic trio!), but I don’t know if they’ll go there. I keep feeling like they’ll do almost anything but allow him to interact with the Avengers! Lol
So there’s no particular pattern to these thoughts… here we go…
I’m heartbroken for Loki that he lost Mobius in this. Mobius not recognising him just… agh! Can he catch a break?! I guess that makes sense of the odd sense of finality when they hugged goodbye in the last episode. And this comes after he loses Sylvie too. Very different circumstances, but he’s filled with this sense of urgency that they must fix the timeline and then all of a sudden the people he trusts to help him are all just… gone!
That moment when Loki first returns to the TVA. That was heart breaking! While I still don’t buy into the romantic relationship Tom sure can act, and this was so well done. You could see him take a moment to grieve then pull himself together for the greater good – to save the universe. Soul crushing. Ooof.
Tumblr media
So yeah, damn. They were going for the romance. *rolls eyes* Ah well. At least I’d had a few weeks to prepare myself. :/
And they went the route of Sylvie betraying our Loki. Now that was interesting. It was something that I really didn’t want to happen, but I actually came out of this thinking that was quite well handled. I thought the idea that they would disagree over the approach to take was quite a good idea. It gave them an opportunity to dig deeper into the differences between these two characters. And I liked that it was a difference born out of their traumatic experiences. I think there’s going to be tons of meta on why Sylvie and Loki made their choices in that moment, and I LOVE that (as of right now – who knows what I’ll think in the morning) I feel like there is actually something to dig in to there, like it wasn’t completely shallow. It wasn’t some stupid repetition of the what’s almost a joke now Loki wants to rule line. And I liked that our Loki was the one who saw the grey areas and wanted some time to analyse it, he wasn’t just hot-headedly set on killing. And I liked that he finally seemed to have some backbone, some drive.
I was wondering where they were going to find some drama from when I saw that the head of the TVA was some new character (who I have to assume is Kang since online is full of how he’s the next big bad). Like how was that going to mean anything to me? Especially when so much of that scene was Loki and Sylvie sitting there listening. (I did love the identical postures with swords across their laps though. 😊) But this worked for me.
And I really thought for a moment they were going to have Sylvie kill Loki. How sad is that that the experience of IW and Endgame has made me fear for the lead character’s life so frickn’ much! Ugh!
One thing that I can see that may have been a problem for some people, and possibly me after I’ve had some more time to think about this, is that the finale had a lot of focus on setting up the next step in the MCU. Now while this is great, especially if it enables Loki to actually participate in events, it does sort of take away from the characters. At this point, for me though, the conflict between Loki and Sylvie worked enough to satisfy me. And then the mad tumble to the end where we get revelation top of revelation was exciting and a very energised way to ‘end’ the episode. But it is definitely NOT any sort of resolution.
And omg what are we going to do knowing where Loki’s at right now for the next months? Years? Till the next season comes out!? Lol
One thing I am grateful for, and again I think it’s a sign of my super low expectations regarding Loki’s treatment, is that I am glad that Loki seems to be relevant to things again. It’s felt so much like they’re trying to ease him out of the universe, so the fact that they wanted to make a second season when they very clearly didn’t need to does make me feel good on behalf of Loki, and Tom.
I felt like Loki had the opportunity to be a little more like my Loki in this episode. Particularly some of his responses while talking to Kang. And I think this just goes to illustrate the point that in the earlier films we’ve seen a lot of time where Loki is in very serious and high stakes situations. And the way this sets up what feels like some big action to come makes me hope that perhaps he might get the chance to be a bit more of that characterisation of Loki in whatever he shows up in the future in.
So, what happened to those shots of Loki in Stark Tower and in Asgard? I am terribly confused. They weren’t in there, right? I didn’t somehow miss them, did I? I thought, when we saw Miss Minutes and her offer, that they might have been moments shown to Loki to entice him to take up the offer. I’m a little disappointed because I was really looking forward to seeing Asgard and Loki in his Asgardian gear again. Did they maybe cut them out for time or some other reason? Were they pieces they filmed pre-pandemic and then decided against using later? If so, why was it in the poster? *shrug*
So no new Loki outfit. ☹ No new Loki powers. ☹ I still feel like the various hints in Episode 5 about Loki’s power really were leading to something and we haven’t (yet?) seen it play out.
Having said that, from the perspective of the end of the season, it now feels like the whole season was a bit of a lull, and bit of a time for Loki to learn about himself (and I would say ‘grow’ but all the talk of Loki ‘growing’ in Ragnarok have made me slightly allergic to that phrase lol), almost as though this is the set up for him to take on something bigger. I dunno. It probably isn’t, it never seems to be, but I plan to enjoy the next however-many-months we have imagining the possibilities.
I liked that Mobius got to have a conversation with Renslayer. That he called her out on all the nice things she’d said but didn’t mean. To me he’s one of those people who it feels worse to have disappointed at you than angry. I also like that he tried to stop her rather than letting her go for some old feeling of friendship or some cliché like that.
So that’s what that pen was all about. So is that a version of Renslayer that Renslayer is protecting? I’m not sure I followed? Or is it just a variant that B-15 found? If so, then why does TVA!Renslayer have the pen?
I get they were going for disarming, contrasting, and just a little mad, but I didn’t particularly like Kang. It’ll be interesting to see how he plays out in the films etc.
I’m here for the multiverse, though!
So, did Sylvie push our Loki into a different multiverse? Does each one have it’s own TVA? Is that a variant Mobius? Or is this some sort of ripple effect that’s changed the course of history, even in the TVA? Questions!!
My list of negative things hasn’t changed much since episode 3 really. I’m still sad that Loki’s characterisation is so different, that they haven’t addressed his time with Thanos or his pain from being Jotun, that he still hasn’t used a lot of magic, and that he never got to see Frigga again. And mostly that he really didn’t seem to be driving the action at all for most of the season. So I think I’m likely to be both happy with this show and disappointed, and apparently completely able to hold both these opinions in my head at the same time. The characterisation and the romance seem to be things I can become more comfortable with on repeated viewings.
I maybe a hopeless fool for Loki, but him having his heart broken and then being thrown into dramatic universe ending peril within the space of two minutes works for me. lol Poor Loki.
Right, that’s enough for me. I look forward to reading other’s thoughts.

MCU “Thor: Ragnarok” - The elevator scene
So I’ve heard that Tom Hiddleston’s interview “Tom Hiddleston Looks Back at 10 Years of Loki | Entertainment Weekly” has sparked some discussion…
…because, when talking of the elevator scene Tom said Thor had been honest in it, sparking the joy of who enjoyed that scene which is one of the few emotional moments of the movie between the two in which Thor says something ‘nice’ to Loki (I think that scene is actually one of the most well known and popular about the movie) and the disagreement of who remembered that Thor used that moment to place an obedience disk on Loki’s back, an obedience disk that basically tortures who wear it once it’s activated… and Thor later activated it when Loki attempted to betray him, and left it activated, abandoning him in that hangar where the grandmaster, which he knows has no qualms to melt people who disappoint him, could find Loki. The fact that Korg finds Loki first and free him from that torture is mere luck on Loki and on Thor’s part as Loki will then bring Asgard a ship large enough to save all the Asgardians.
Long story short, a part of the fandom felt that Thor said such words to cause Loki to lower his guard so that he could place the obedience disk.
So I wanted to share my two cents about it.
But first let’s look at the full script for it.
Thor: Hey, so listen, we should talk. Loki: I disagree. Open communication was never our family's forte. Thor: You have no idea. I've had quite the revelation since we spoke last. [The door opens, revealing a bunch of guards. Thor and Loki heft up two Sakaarian guns.] Thor: Hello! Loki: Hi! [Thor and Loki BLAST all the guards, moving to another door.] Loki: Odin brought us together, it's almost poetic that his death should split us apart. We might as well be strangers now. "Two sons of the crown" set adrift. [A guard tries to ambush Loki through the door. Thor TAKES OUT the guard.] Thor: Thought you didn't want to talk about it? Loki: Here's the thing.
[ELEVATOR. Thor and Loki are going up.] Loki: I'm probably better off staying here on Sakaar. Thor: That's exactly what I was thinking. Loki: ...Did you just agree with me? Thor: This place is perfect for you. It's savage, chaotic, lawless. Brother, you're going to do GREAT here. Loki: Do you truly think so little of me? [Thor pauses, considers his brother. Then:] Thor: Loki, I thought the world of you. I thought we were gonna fight side by side forever. But, at the end of the day, you're you, I'm me... I don't know, maybe there's still good in you, but let's be honest, our paths diverged a long time ago. [Loki is wounded by Thor's willingness to discard him. Masks his feelings with:] Loki: It's probably for the best that we never see one another again. [Beat. Thor pats Loki affectionately on the shoulder. Hold on Loki. Did Thor just get through to him?] Thor: That's what you always wanted.
Yeah, I included the bit prior to it because it kind of introduced the scene. And as the obedience disk scene is also part of the discussion, let’s look at it as well.
Loki: I know I've betrayed you many times before, but this time it's truly nothing personal. The reward for your capture will set me up nicely. He triggers the alarm. Thor: Never one for sentiment, were you? Loki: Easier to let it burn. [But then Loki sees Thor holding up a fob device. Loki realizes that Thor affixed an Obedience Disk on him in that heart-to-heart moment.] Thor: I agree. [BZZZT! Thor ZAPS Loki and HOLDS DOWN the button. Loki HITS the ground, WRITHING in pain. Thor approaches. Pause.] Thor: Oh brother, you're becoming predictable. I trust you, you betray me. Round and round in circles we go. [Thor continues to "think about it" for a beat while Loki convulses in agony on the floor. Finally, Thor kneels down:] Thor: See, Loki, life is about, it's about growth. It's about change. But you seem to just wanna stay the same. I guess what I'm trying to say is that you'll always be the God of Mischief, but you could be more. I'll just put this over here for you. [Thor places the fob on top of the security panel, so close but so far from Loki's paralyzed reach.] Thor: Anyway, I got places to be so good luck.
Okay, now with these scenes in mind, let’s go and see how Tom comments the elevator scene.
The elevator scene, in “Ragnarok.” The dialogue was… was scattered across these different… places as they were trying to escape and find their way through. Taika said: “Guys, do you know the rest of the scene?” and we both said: “Yeah.” He said: “Maybe we should just do... do one where we just do all of the dialogue here in the elevator and you haven't really had a chance to catch up and maybe you should just talk to each other,” and Thor… is quite honest with him. And I think it really affects Loki, he thinks ‘oh actually maybe… maybe I got this wrong, maybe I did have a place in that family. Maybe… maybe this guy is my brother,’ but it was a really enjoyable scene because it was just a very quiet moment with Chris in a very calm space in a big colourful spectacular film. [“Tom Hiddleston Looks Back at 10 Years of Loki | Entertainment Weekly”]
So… is Thor being sincere? Or just being manipulative?
When one look at Thor’s sentence there’s a thing that hit me:
Thor: Loki, I thought the world of you. I thought we were gonna fight side by side forever. But, at the end of the day, you're you, I'm me... I don't know, maybe there's still good in you, but let's be honest, our paths diverged a long time ago.
At Loki’s question ‘Do you truly think so little of me?’ Thor doesn’t say ‘No, I think the world of you.’ He says he THOUGHT the world of him. As in previously he thought the world of him and we can speculate this previously refers to before he stopped considering him a ‘brother’ something that happened likely in “The Avengers” according to “Thor: The Dark World”, probably when Thor told him they could stop the Chitauri together and Loki stabbed him.
Thor: I don't. Mother did. You should know that when we fought each other in the past, I did so with a glimmer of hope that my brother was still in there somewhere. That hope no longer exists to protect you. You betray me and I will kill you.
And I can believe Thor used to love Loki before all that, so he’s sincere in saying that, back then, he thought the world of him.
Now, I know there’s people who think Thor didn’t properly appreciate Loki in “Thor”, especially when he used the pretty unlucky sentence ‘Know your place, Brother’ but also when, in a cut scene, he waved away Loki’s contribute to the victory saying ‘Some do battle, others just do tricks’ but this is exactly the point.
Thor’s ‘sin’ in that moment is his vanity, his arc in the movie centred on him learning humility.
Thor loved Loki, same as Kevin Lomax, in “The Devil’s Advocate” loved Mary Ann. There’s quite a good quote in that movie.
John Milton: I rest my case. Vanity is definitely my favorite sin. Self-love, the all-natural opiate. It's not like you didn't care for Mary Ann, Kevin. You were just a little more involved with someone else: yourself.
Thor also in the first half of the movie was more involved in himself than he was in his brother. Or his friends. Let’s remember Fandral got hurt and it was Loki and Volstagg which helped him, while the Thor is described by the script as busy fighting the Frost Giants, his bloodlust rising, with Loki and Sif both telling Thor they’ve to leave instead.
Loki: Thor, we must go! [Thor, still without his hammer, fights his Jotun foes mercilessly, a man consumed by blood lust. Loki sees the look on his brother's face -- the savage thrill of the heat of battle.] Thor: Then go! Sif: There are too many of them! Thor: I can stop them! [The others hesitate. Jotuns break up through the ice all around them.] Sif: Thor! [But Thor ignores his comrades, continues fighting.]
When they’ll be back to Asgard it’ll be Odin who’ll say Fandral has to be taken to the healing room, not Thor, something that the movie will technically address when it’ll show that Thor, once back to Asgard after he learnt humility on Midgard, will be the one to tell his friends to bring Heimdall to the healing room.
in “Thor”, Thor had to be a bad brother due to his vanity… but this doesn’t mean he was an unloving one, just one who might have thought the world about Loki… but thought the whole universe about himself and thought more about himself than he ever did at Loki… because he was vain.
Sadly although most of the second half of the movie is set up to prove Thor is the opposite of how he was before, they never quite manage to prove he would have an opposite dynamic with Loki. He tries to save him twice, and clearly didn’t want him to let go, he tells his brother not to let go, he’s the one who screams when Loki does anyway, while Odin merely says a quiet no which wasn’t even in the original old script, but, unless we consider the fact he accepted Loki to be the king to exist to be the opposite of ‘Know your place, Brother’, this is maybe the only aspect in which the movie doesn’t prove Thor now has a reverse mentality (I’ve listed all the scenes the movie had or was meant to have that proved how Thor made a 180° turn in another meta if someone is interested).
But whatever, Thor’s ‘Loki, I thought the world of you’ was clearly meant to be the truth, Thor used to think so of Loki, the movie is just skipping on the part he wasn’t so good at showing it because in “Thor” Thor was a vain boy.
And it’s likely also the truth how Thor said ‘I thought we were gonna fight side by side forever.’
In “The Avengers” Thor not only insisted for Loki to come back home but also for them to fight together against the Chitauri.
Thor: Look at this! Look around you! You think this madness will end with your rule? Loki: (tries to look away) It's too late. It's too late to stop it. Thor: No. We can. Together.
And the fact they used to fight together is implied in the already mentioned cut scene of “Thor” as well as again, in “The Avengers”.
Thor: We were raised together, we played together, we fought together. Do you remember none of that?
So yes, Thor for a while thought they were gonna fight side by side forever, then things in “The Avengers” went downhill and by the time “Thor: The Dark World” comes around he refuses to acknowledge Loki as his brother… even though he still needs him.
There’s no lies in Thor’s words, he said something he thought before Loki’s fall, that he and Loki would always fight together, on the same side and, all considered, he had no reason to think otherwise. He had no idea things would take a turn for worse so of course he would think Loki would continue to fight at his side. The old script and the novel implied the original plan prior to the coronation was for Thor to rule and for Loki to be at his side, offering him counsel.
Odin: Do you think he's ready? Frigga: He thinks he is. He has his father's confidence. Odin: He'll need his father's wisdom. Frigga: And his humility? [Odin reacts.] Frigga: (cont’d) Thor won't be alone. Loki will be at his side to give him counsel. Have faith in your sons. Odin: Yes, but Thor's still a boy. He could be a great King...
So yes, in this too Thor is sincere. He assumed Loki would stay at his side. He had no reason to think otherwise.
The last bit though, ‘But, at the end of the day, you're you, I'm me... I don't know, maybe there's still good in you, but let's be honest, our paths diverged a long time ago’ is just Thor basically letting go of Loki. Loki is not him, maybe there’s good in Loki, maybe he’s just evil but anyway he isn’t going to be a hero like Thor. As he said before, for Thor, place like Saakar, savage, chaotic, lawless, is perfect for someone like Loki.
Is he being manipulative here? He’s rejecting Loki knowing Loki actually needs Thor to tell him he needs him?
Well this is what Hemsworth said Thor was thinking about Loki:
One of the more fascinating parts of the franchise has been the relationship between Thor and Loki… How do you continue that relationship without repeating what you’ve already done before? Hemsworth: Without giving too much away, I didn't want to repeat that relationship either. And Tom felt the same. All of us were like, ‘What can we do again here?’ There’s a bit of reversal as far as... In the first films, a lot of the time you’re seeing Thor going, 'Come back Loki, and da-da-da-da.' [But now] there’s a feeling from Thor that’s just like, 'You know what, kid? Do what you want. You’re a screw up. So whatever. Do your thing.' [Chris Hemsworth ‘Thor Ragnarok’, Embracing the Comedy, the Thor-Loki Relationship and More]
Loki is a ‘screw up’. He’s no more someone he thought the world of. He doesn’t think anymore they would keep on fighting together. He doesn’t care.
And this is what Waititi said.
Hewitt: For Loki, he might actually be the most emotionally independent of the movie, and I love that the big emotional epiphany comes when one brother is essentially electrocuting the other? Ah- Waititi: *chuckles* Hewitt: *chuckling* Yeah. But there’s a speech to Loki that Thor gives about change and about how you should change, that’s the first time I think Loki’s ever really listened. Waititi: Mm-hmm. Hewitt: From what we’ve seen, you know, there are moments in this movie where, you know, the betrayal takes place as you might expect, and then you begin to move it on beyond that and the character actually begins to change. Ah, can you talk about... progressing Loki, I guess, as a character? Waititi: Yeah. Yeah, well I feel like we were- You know, we didn’t want to change him too much because he was so popular and the fans love that version of him. We wanted to keep- we needed to retain who he is, because when you start changing all of the characters and just doing it for the sake of change, you know, people can’t handle that and definitely fans can’t handle that. So you know he was one of the few characters that we, you know, that we changed and so I made sure that- *pause* -that the main changes that were gonna happen there were to do with the brothers, and to do with their relationship, because I think people wanted to see that arc end on a satisfying way and culmination of all these films and all of the events being that Thor and Loki finally found some sort of way of co-existing without Thor always saying, “Loki, stop this madness! Come hooome! Oh, you can do better!” Instead of pleading with him, just, you know, I feel that’s the most mature version of these guys, you know, is to say to him, “Man, it’s cool. You keep doing what you’re doing, I’m- You know, I don’t need to change you. I’ve all the other stuff to concentrate on, that change thing is up to you, I’m not gonna- I’m sick of, like, pleading with you to, you know, to change your ways.” And I feel like giving that decision to Loki and letting him make that decision for himself was actually the most satisfying version of those have been. [“Empire Podcast Spoiler Special Thor Ragnarok with Taika Waititi”]
To be honest most of the discussion more than about the elevator scene is about the electrocution scene and the first part is Hewitt’s interpretation but Waititi does not disagree. Anyway the root of the discussion is that, according to Waititi, Thor isn’t trying to get Loki to change his mind, Thor is just done with Loki, which fits not just with the electrocution scene but also with the elevator scene. It’s not a very loving message.
If I were to question Hiddleston’s interpretation, I wouldn’t disagree on Thor being honest, I would just find weird that Loki had reacted to such words thinking ‘oh actually maybe… maybe I got this wrong, maybe I did have a place in that family. Maybe… maybe this guy is my brother,’ for two good reasons. One is that Thor spoke not in present simple but in past simple, so maybe that guy WAS his brother, now he doesn’t care about him anymore. As he said in “Thor: The Dark World” Thor has again renounced him. The second is… the electrocution scene, which starts with Loki betraying Thor.
Yeah, I know there are fans who interpret it as Loki not wanting Thor to die fighting Hela which I TRULY love because sometimes fans have better interpretations than the authors on why the character do what they do, but, skipping that the idea of handing him to the Grandmaster who could very well melt him wasn’t that bright (but whatever, Loki could still think he’ll manage to persuade the Grandmaster to let him alive and use him to replace the Hulk), this clearly wasn’t Waititi’s intent.
Waititi didn’t correct Hewitt when he talks about the scene and how that’s the first time Loki’s ever really listened. In Waititi’s intent the elevator’s scene is just an addition, something in which Thor and Loki talk to each other because they hadn’t had the chance to catch up before the electrocution scene that would remark how Loki is again betraying Thor but how Thor this time has grown and can predict Loki’s betrayal and be ready to strike back and even give him the speech that will cause Loki’s change of heart. Long story short, the elevator scene was an afterthought, what was meant to be included was the electrocution scene because on that scene was supposed to be rooted the idea Loki would change.
And of course this is a HUGE problem, because if you, up until a moment before, were willing to sell your brother to someone like the Grandmaster for money, the fact that he electrocute you and leave you writhing in pain on the floor, KNOWING if the Grandmaster finds you empty handed he will melt you… well, this normally wouldn’t inspire you to have brotherly feelings, speech about having the potential for being more or not.
Long story short, the idea that Loki would go to save Thor and the Asgardians DESPITE that, merely due to Thor’s pretty speech, doesn’t really feel that logic at all, never mentioning that something that gives you enough pain to cause you to crumble on the floor and be unable to move might not help you to be an attentive listener.
I’m not even sure why there’s this idea that Thor was always ‘come back, brother’ since in “Thor: The Dark World” Thor definitely wasn’t asking him to come back, he was actually giving up on him in an even more drastic way than he did in “Thor: Ragnarok”…
Loki: You must be truly desperate to come to me for help. What makes you think you can trust me? Thor: I don't. Mother did. You should know that when we fought each other in the past, I did so with a glimmer of hope that my brother was still in there somewhere. That hope no longer exists to protect you. You betray me and I will kill you. [Loki smiles]
It’s not said solely in the script, this is what Hiddleston said about Loki in “Thor: The Dark World” as well:
…and in a way reverse the arc of the character. Because he’s always defined himself in opposition. Thor has always been offering an olive branch. ‘Come back. We forgive you. Come back.’ And it’s Loki’s kind of arrogant privilege to say ‘No. I still hate you.’ And…in this film I think…nobody’s offering the olive branch. He’s in prison, condemned to be written out of history, forgotten, unseen, unheard, and haunted by his demons. You have to change at that point. So that surprised me. How far further down does he go before he hits rock bottom? Is there one for him? And…could he come back up? [“Nov 2013 Hiddleston Interview: Commentary on the Commentary (and much more)“]
…and yet, in “Thor: The Dark World”, despite his brother saying he previously held back when fighting because he hoped his brother was still there (a clear hint he loved such brother) and that now he no longer believes in such hope, Loki didn’t sell him to the Dark Elves and even stopped the Kurse from killing him, which lead him to be stabbed… and mind you, originally the wound was meant to be fatal… but whatever, this is a discussion for another post.
Anyway basically what Thor told him back then… is more or less the same he told him in the elevator scene so Tom Hiddleston’s explanation about how this would AGAIN affect Loki would make sense if it wasn’t for the electrocution scene that gets in the way.
On another note the Junior novel is apparently based on an older script for “Thor: Ragnarok” and in it things work a lot more better.
There’s no elevator scene or electrocution scene. The two brother had a talk in which Thor bares his soul to Loki and encourages him to change as well.
“You’ll help us free Asgard from Hela’s grip when we arrive? I can count on you?” Thor asked. “Of course. After all, I’m sure you blame me for her resurgence. It’s at least I can do.” Loki appeared contrite. “Although, I am curious, why the sudden change of heart to become Odinson and assume the throne?” “It is what is needed to defeat Hela. Therefore it is my duty,” Thor said plainly. He let out a small sigh, his voice almost apologetic. “In the past I demanded the throne when I hadn’t earned it, and then refused the throne when Asgard needed me most. You stole it. Twice.” “Yet you are always forgiven,” Loki said, trying not to sneer. “My point is that our self-centered conflict over Asgard has ruined our kingdom. We have been so focused on fighting for the top we’ve forgotten there’s a middle and a bottom. If I’m to be king, then I want to be a custodian, not a conqueror.” “Why the sudden baring of your soul to me?” Loki asked. Thor turned to his brother. “Because I want to change. I want to be better. And I think you can, too. Helping us escape has shown you can take strides toward that.” He looked at Loki earnestly. “Make a fresh start, brother. It’s time.” [“Thor: Ragnarok - The Junior Novel”]
While this bit is clearly not perfect (especially since there are some canon mistakes) it contains the same idea that Loki should change and be more that is also in the electrocution speech, but it’s way more love inspiring than having your brother leaving you wriggling in pain on the floor.
Thor doesn’t try to pass himself for a perfect hero but admits his faults as well as the wish to be better. This dialogue continues with the theme of “Thor” in which Thor tries to be worthy and, in opening his heart to Loki and saying they can both improve could have reminded him again they used to be brothers who loved each other and their own country.
But, okay, I’m digressing.
On another note… it’s clear they expected Tom Hiddleston to say something nice about “Thor: Ragnarok”. I know there’s a huge part of the fandom who would just love if it were to respectfully disrespected but, for start, I don’t think that’s Hiddleson’s style and, anyway, he wouldn’t be allowed to do so. Not only “Thor: Ragnarok” was successful but Waititi is now directing “Thor: Love and Thunder”. Marvel clearly counts on it to ride the success of “Thor: Ragnarok” and be successful as well so it’s not like they’ll want us to forget it or allow Hiddleston to speak poorly of it.
Still there are some interesting things to point out.
The first is that Hiddleston spoke about the other movies a lot more than about this one. It’s around 1 minute commenting versus the 1 minute and a half of the other 3 movies and he mentions just that one scene while in the others we see more than 1 (I’m obviously skipping “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame” because Loki’s role in the was way too small to discuss it at length).
Long story short, while Hiddleston doesn’t say anything against “Thor: Ragnarok” he clearly didn’t have much he wanted to say. He focused on what to the audience felt a nice moment about Thor and Loki and then moved on.
The second scene is that in the montage of the video they cut part of Thor’s sentence so that all the viewers hear is “I thought we were gonna fight side by side forever. But, at the end of the day, you're you, I'm me... I don't know, maybe there's still good in you, but let's be honest, our paths diverged a long time ago.”
Basically they left out the “Loki, I thought the world of you.”
Maybe it’s a coincidence but still it’s interesting they didn’t realize they were cutting the most emotional line of that bit.
Whatever, it happens.
Anyway, for what’s worth, those are my two cents on the whole thing.

hi lol this is totally random but based on a harry potter post you just reblogged and you can completely ignore me if you want, but do you think snape deserved better, or are you a quote unquote "snape apologist"? I'm genuinely curious cuz I've come across a lot of different opinions on severus. Again, feel free to ignore :)
This ended up way longer than it needed to be, and I apologize for that lmao.
Hi! Hmmm I have many mixed opinions on this. First we have to talk about which Snape. Book!Snape is actually kind of an asshole, and not in the fun way. (Way more than I remembered.) But but but Alan Rickman!Snape I like a lot.
And no I'm not mentioning Snape from TCC. That was not Snape and that world was not Harry Potter.
Snape is an interesting character because of how flawed and layered he is.
(Putting a cut because it's so long, and tw for non-detailed mentions/reference to abuse, as well as both trauma and death.)
He wasn't born in a very good household, which I can definitely see as being a reason for why he is who he is. (A reason, not an excuse. Those are two extremely different things.) You look at Sirius, who also came from a horrible household, yet he managed to dig himself out of the mud and make his own path for himself. (Though I have many angsty headcanons for the thoughts he has and being afraid of what he will do and in turn his own mind. WolfStar solidarity. Neither one of them know what they are truly capable of, and both are completely afraid to find out.
Ahem sorry I got a little distracted there.
During the Marauder's era, Snape wasn't a good person in general, but he tried to be nice to Lily. (One of the only exceptions he made.) That being said, (sorry, going on a tangent again), it does not excuse what the Marauders did. As much as they are, in my humble opinion, JK's greatest creation, they should be held accountable for both the prank, and dangling Snape upside down. (Though Remus does make a few good points in their defense later, it's still not an excuse.) Two wrongs never make a right.
Snape doesn't deny Lily's claims at him wanting to join a supremacy group, nor does he say he isn't friends with Death Eaters.
It's clear through the flashbacks we're given that Snape is apathetic in the face of innocent people dying, but once again Lily is the exception.
Dumbledore defends Snape by saying it wasn't his fault that Harry's parents are dead. I actually semi-agree with this. On one hand, he was directly at fault, but on the other hand he had no way of knowing. As a severe Loki apologist, I do not blame Loki for Frigga's death. He may have led the dark elves to her, but he didn't know it was her she was sending them to. That's the comparison I make in my mind, and so I don't completely blame him like other people do. (One could also make the argument that Sirius is to blame. Sirius, who is 100% my favorite character in the entire franchise, gave the secret keeper job to Peter, thinking it would be safer with him. However, he had no ill will or malicious intentions towards Lily, James, and Harry, so I don't blame him.)
All that being said, Snape not only would have been fine with random people dying, he also didn't care whether or not James and Harry lived.
For context:
(Dumbledore is speaking, right after Snape comes to him for help.)
"You do not care, then, about the deaths of her husband and child?" They can die, as long as you have what you want?"
Snape said nothing, but merely looked up at Dumbledore.
He has a strange relationship with Lily. He obviously loves her, but not enough to want to stop Voldemort from killing the two things that bring her the most amount of happiness. It's clear he doesn't care about anyone except for Lily. Which on some level, I can understand why. When people have traumatic childhoods, they tend to hold on to a person that was there for them. Sometimes it can be the hands of the person who caused them pain in the first place, but other times it is another person who was there for him. He holds Lily's opinions of himself higher than anybody else, and he holds Lily above anybody else, and I think this can be attributed to some sort of trauma response, which is why his love for her is so unusual. That doesn't mean I think he should be fine with killing innocent people.
On the topic of trauma, I think joining the Death Eaters was another response to this, as well as a result of what kind of family he had.
Similar to both Harry and Voldemort, Snape much preferred Hogwarts to where he lived, and such the castle became his home more than his house ever was.
The Death Eaters could offer him something he had never been offered before. He belonged to something. In his own, twisted, traumatic mindset, he might have even almost seen the Death Eaters as a family. Not consciously of course, but there was definitely a feeling of belonging they gave him.
And there's something to be said about the fact that many serial killers in real life come from an abusive family. I don't pretend to understand the minds of someone who can do something so vile, but I have watched enough Criminal Minds episodes to know what they long for is control.
So being apart of this supremacy group, even though he was a half-blood himself and undoubtedly didn't entirely share Voldermort's racist beliefs, gave him both control and something he belonged to.
It's not an excuse, but it's a reason.
Alternatively, you can look at it through a quote from the most recent episode of Loki.
"It's part of the illusion. It's a cruel, elaborate trick conjured by the weak to inspire fear."
So it's also possible that when he was a kid, he thought being a villain was the only way to prevent others from being one to him.
Ok sorry, back on the chronological track.
So he agrees to change sides and work with Dumbledore. (Who must see just how distraught Snape was over Lily's death, to trust him immediately.)
Snape spends most of Harry's time at Hogwarts humiliating his own students. He particularly calls out Harry and his friends a lot, but I can definitely see this being a defence mechanism. He assumes Harry is James and reverts back to what we talked about earlier. (Becoming the villain so nobody else has a chance.)
But but but, he does a lot of good throughout the books. Snape mutters the countercurse, saving Harry from Quirrell during the Quidditch match. He then actually referees at the next match, preventing anything from happening altogether.
In retrospective, we see that he spends most of the first book helping Dumbledore by protecting the stone, and helping Lily by protecting Harry.
Now I could go through and list the goods and the bads of Snape throughout the entire series, but I have neither the time nor the patience, and I think you get the point.
(Except I would like the mention that Snape becomes a double agent for Dumbledore in book four, and risks his life every single day by constantly betraying Voldermort, and never once does he use this as a way to double cross Dumbledore. This was actually probably really hard on him. You can assume that having to pretend to be a Death Eater means he had to do some despicable things just so he didn't blow his cover. If he really has changed by this time, which I would like to think he has, is a lot of added guilt to live with.)
(I would also mention that he tried to save Sirius in book five, but... *falls on floor dramatically* I don't want to think about it.)
Severus Snape's time comes to the end in book seven. At the hands of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, his death is a valiant act of sacrifice. Protecting the living and defending the honour of the fallen.
So, he has done a lot of bad in his lifetime, but by the time we as readers get to know him, his fundamental set of beliefs have begun to change. Through the eyes of what started as an eleven year old boy, you can definitely see that even after this he wasn't necessarily a good person.
And that's because his good is behind the scenes. He's good on a larger scale. He's chosen the light over darkness, but in his everyday life he's still the scared, traumatized little kid he's always been.
And him being this way has reasons, but these reasons are not excuses.
Sorry anon, this kind of turned into a long winded review of the entire character. I know that's not really what you asked, so I'll sum it up in a final few sentences sentence.
Yes. I wish Snape had gotten to live. Not because I'm necessarily a "Snape apologist", but because I find his character interesting, and seeing his reaction to his sacrifice could have been a really good read. Also Harry coming up and thanking him would have been really touching, and as a cherry on top maybe we could have gotten to read Harry apologizing for his father. Maybe even Snape sharing memories of Lily?! (Sorry that might have gotten a little to fanfic-y.)
That being said, his death being a final sacrifice towards the good of everyone, and a final testimony to his change of heart, was -- and I'll give JK credit just this once -- good storytelling, and a good way to end it.
Also I like movie!Snape because fuck yeah he's just so awesome.
If anyone has anything to add/take away, or they just want to discuss the wonder that was Alan Rickman, let me know! (Ask/Comment/Reblog/Etc.)

every time i reread shut in i find something new that hints towards the end and i LOVE it. it's like a puzzle set. i feel like im missing a lot more though haha, just wondering if you have a list of foreshadowing you put in
you reread shut in? ilysm 😭
okay here's a list of references i put in throughout the series!
spoilers under the cut for anyone who hasn't read the ending yet
1. pierce died from a gunshot wound to the head. later on in chapter 12 it's mentioned that that's ransone's favourite way to have people killed
2. in chapter 4, sam directly asks reader if they're a spy too when they argue with him about who it could be. reader doesn't deny it, just rolls their eyes and moves on
3. in chapter 5, ransone talks about his dad and how volatile he was. in chapter 8 odin says being unstable is ransone's blood and about his history
4. in chapter 6, while they're putting up security cams, sam asks where reader would hide if they wanted spy on someone. they point to a particular place and “Clear sight of the house, not too close that we’d be able to see if we weren’t looking specifically". that's the camera that catches the agent in chapter 12
5. both sam and reader have been set up on fake missions in the past before by ransone. reader where her shoulder got shot (chapter 7) and sam's riley thing (chapter 10). technically this wouldn't be the first time he would have done it, which is why they still don't put it past him as something he wouldn't do
6. in chapter 8, while odin tries to guess sam's age he mentions he can tell he's young bc odin has sons, not a son. sam also mentions that he has to get out of there because his family was set to return in a short while. sam also entered trough the back while reader was stationed in the front of the house.
7. in chapter 8, reader says that if ransone was on his knees begging for his life, she still wouldn't be able to pull the trigger. in chapter 14 when she's in that situation, she doesn't pull the trigger then either
8. in chapter 10, sam says riley had a limp bc he had to shoot him in the leg. reader in chapter 7 had a flashback where ransone's lies had them get shot in the shoulder. loki's mom was killed by a bullet to the forehead. in chapter 14, when they all take their shot at ransone, they shoot in the same 3 places.
9. every time ransone made a mention to pierce, reader and sam kept information from him because they didn't want him to know that someone else had shot pierce before they got there. in chapter 11 when they're on call, ransone slips up and mentions that pierce was killed before they got there. reader and sam have a visceral reaction to it
10. in chapter 11, when sam tells reader "that wasn't in the plan!", it wasn't about them giving ransone their location. it was about the abrupt manipulative conversation that started and reader didn't immediately hang up on.
11. the reason reader knew that he wouldn't get rid of the paper plane in chapter 14 (He wouldn’t get rid of something immediately, not if it could be used to hurt you.) was also mentioned in chapter 12 for all the people he killed
12. chapter 13 begins with sam checking the security cams to make sure they knew how many people were out there
a list of more stupid references i put in just for fun dkjfhgdf:
1. in chapter 1 when reader goes to pierce's house, the movie that's playing is Horrible Bosses. a petty nod to ransone, world's worst boss
2. in chapter 2 ransone says "Distrusting me is the wisest thing you could do" which is a game of thrones quote. the character who says this says this to a king who trusts him, only to be backstabbed later. so essentially this ransone was telling them that he's gonna betray them eventually lol
3. American Gods, and Pride and Prejudice being the only books there were references to Loki that i thought were funny ffhfhfhf. american GODS. pride and prejudice for the britishness and general snobbery
4. 'brooklyn' being their codeword was just a dumb throwaway to steve. no significance
5. all of ransone's named henchmen were villains from the mcu. emil, ivan and all were enemies in hulk and iron man 2. just a nod towards how this guy had everything going against his innocence
6. everyone picked up on this but the kids reader was friends with at the orphanage/initial stages of their term at the organization was steve, nat and bucky fhhfh. they were never mentioned by name but the descriptions were given.
7. the entire fic is technically the "and there was only one bed!" trope but it isn't used all the way until the end ffhfhfhf
8. serpentine was named that bc snakes are generally associated with loki + their snake story from thor: ragnarok lmao
but yeah, that's about it!

Universe in a Jar, 11| Phase 4 fic
Recap: Some days ago, I reblogged this post about the magical trio. And then my brain went off on a monumental tangent and, I wrote Universe in a Jar.
Characters: Stephen Strange, Loki, Wanda Maximoff, Wong, Shang-Chi, Katy, OC
Rating: T?
Summary: Baby-sitting beings arguably more powerful than him goes awry for Doctor Strange. He knows one person who can possibly keep them isolated and out of trouble. Well, he knew someone who could… he hasn’t seen them in decades and for stupid reasons.
Warnings: Language! Emotional trauma, grief, psych holds, confrontation, yelling, lots of people wanting to fight, a slap.
Chapter Summary: Stephen decides to listen to the issues these newcomers present but, of course, everything goes awry. Our favorite neighborhood lawyer drops by. If I'm honest, I saw Matt on No Way Home and I remembered I love him and looked for an excuse to shoehorn him in.
Previous Chapter
XX
"You know, if you keep showing up to your appointments all fucked up, I'm going to have to ask questions, Matt."
Persephone used the needle driver to not-so-delicately shove the surgical needle through the delicate skin over his cheekbone. The process was slow–much slower than if he had ask for literally any other doctor and the stitches were coming out in a slightly disheveled row with tails pointing in all different directions.
"I already show up to your office bleeding and dressed like a ninja, what questions could you possibly have, doc?"
"Funny." She tied the knot to another stitch with a frown. This was why she wasn't a GP or a surgeon. She was shit at this, always had been. "You do know that Psych gets flagged every time you get dragged into the ER, right? You were lucky I was on-call and not anyone else. Or else you'd be halfway through getting checked into your mandatory hold."
The man on the hospital bed smirked, the roguish charm in the expression halfway marred by the mouthful of blood staining his teeth. "Well, lucky for me, my ride is a doctor and she is going to make sure I don't make stupid choices tonight." He considered for a moment. "Any further stupid choices."
Seph rolled her eyes and groaned. "You owe me so fucking much, dude."
"I know." He grinned wider, pulling at his stitches in a way that prompted her to smack his shoulder. "Chinese on me?"
"Absofuckinglutely."
It was a steady routine, by now. Matt would text Persephone that he was in trouble, she would open a portal to the hospital and save his ass, they would eat takeout on her tiny couch and pretended nothing was amiss. Their friendship was simple. They both preferred it that was. And so the two now sat huddled with cartons of Chinese food, some old movie playing in the background for the sake of ambiance noise. The conversation had been easy, as it usually was but the notch between Seph's eyebrows betrayed a need for answers.
"So... what was it this time?"
Matt sighed, picking at some shrimp low mein before answering. "Kids."
"These kids… were they different?"
"You mean different like us or...?" Persephone dropped her chopsticks, head snapping in Matt's direction with barely an excuse prepared on her tongue. "Don't give me that face, Seph. I thought we were over lying to each other for no reason."
"One, how do you know I'm giving you a face? Two, what are you talking about?"
"Of course you're giving me a face. I can hear when you open the magic doors. There's a sort of static to it," he replied simply, barely pausing in his chewing. "Yeah, like us. I went to the hospital tonight because–"
"You need a medic."
He nodded, scratching at an itch on his chin with the back of his chopsticks. "Some of them are in really rough shape."
"Fuck. I could've sworn I combed through the list. Unless they were moved from out of state and–"
It was Matt's turn to look like a deer in headlights. "What? What are you...?"
"I can open doors to anywhere I've been before—I got really good at acting confused when I got caught in hospital file rooms. Made interview weekends for residency really interesting."
Matt laughed, shaking his head absently. "Of course, you did. What was I expecting from the therapist who barely missed a beat when I stumbled to her door bleeding out." There was a short stretch of silence between them. "You get them well, I'll get them safe—legally, I mean. How about that?"
She chuckled. "I'm your therapist. I'm not supposed to have a side-hustle rescuing super kids with you, Matty."
"I haven't paid you in months and you still open the door when I knock. You like lost causes, Seph, be honest."
"Only when they're smart enough to conceal that they can fight but not smart enough not to get punched in the face."
"Would you rather they talk to someone that makes them feel uncomfortable?"
Seph scoffed, rolling her eyes. "That is so not fair and you know it." She took an annoyed bite of an egg roll and groaned. "Fine. You have a deal." She hesitated, biting her lip in thought. "I might also need your help with one of my other patients. Older, and hasn't said anything but I think he's in a bit trouble. You don't happen to know anyone in San Francisco who could help, would you?"
"Seph, are you alright there?"
Persephone hummed at her former patient, offering him a tight-lipped smile as she settled onto one of the overstuffed couches in the living room. Bilbo, the adorable ginger kitten had nestled into the crook of her neck and was quietly snoring in ignorant bliss.
"I'm fine, buddy. How are you? Shang-Chi."
"Right. That. It's a long story."
"Oh my god, but it's such a good story, Perse-pants!" Katy started, squirming excited in her seat before taking a look around the room. "Buuuut maybe this is not the time?"
Half the other occupants nodded, but swiveled their attention to Stephen, who had walk past the living room to the kitchen without so much as a glance and ducked into the kitchen to squirrel away some snacks. He stopped just short of the living room, bright eyes carefully documenting each individual before groaning over the bag of chips clenched between his teeth.
"Don't ruin your dinner, Stephen."
He barely missed a beat. "Don't mother me, Seph."
She rolled her eyes. "You don't need cookies, crackers, and chips. You'll get a stomachache."
"You know, I used to go whole years taking care of myself, Per–"
"And yet, you still ended up banging on my door when shit went sideways." They stared at each other for a hard minute before Stephen turned on his heel back to the kitchen, mumbling complaints under his breath.
"I don't trust this guy."
"Join the club," Wong and Loki chorused together.
Loki sighed, settling back beside Persephone and stroking at the sleeping Flerken with his index finger. "Sadly, he's annoyingly capable."
"I don't like his attitude." The claim was unnecessary, considering anyone with eyes could tell he didn't. "Seph, do you really know this guy? This can't be the Steve you kept telling me about."
"We are not doing the hyperdefensive thing today, Shaun. He's having a moment."
"Yeah, you've been saying that since the day we met. How is he even your friend if you're never on good terms?"
Persephone's response was cut short.
A picture frame with multiple individual pictures was slammed on the coffee table hard enough to make the glass rattle. Stephen glared at Shang-Chi across the width of the table. The latter broke their gaze long enough to observe the six different portraits in a frame with the words Best Friends embossed along the top. Stephen and Persephone at a handful of different ages, arms around each other and giving half-hearted smiles at the camera.
"Oh." Shang-Chi stared at the smiles on each photograph. "Oh god, are these funerals?"
Seph smirked, patting Stephen's leg as he fell onto the couch on her other side. "My mother had a twisted sense of humor. Friends are not the ones who show up to the birthday parties, they're the ones that go to the funerals."
Beside her, Stephen stiffened. The last picture on the panel was a selfie, taken alone at her mother's funeral. A shuddering breath left his lungs, promptly covered up with the crunch of a chip. She gave his leg another squeeze of reassurance.
"If you're satisfied that I'm not some random asshole whose help you need–god only knows why that matters– can you move on?"
"You know, maybe if you were a little nicer, you wouldn't have been bumped off from Sorcerer Supreme."
"I wasn't bumped off, I was dusted, asshole."
Seph glanced sideways. "Is that why Wong was OK sending you...?"
The flush dusting over his ears was an easily recognizable sign of his being flustered. "Can we move on?"
Sensing his discomfort, she metaphorically backed off the subject. "OK. Not the time. Gotcha." Her hand sought out his just as the leg closest hers began to anxiously bounce. She dropped her voice. "You're OK."
He leaned in closer to her, looking a little like a child clinging to a parent and dropped his volume to mirror hers. "I'll be better when this is over, so can we please move on?"
"I know we're all on pins and needles here but… can I hold the kitty?" Katy irrupted, effectively breaking the tension that was looming in the room.
"Can she?" She asked Stephen under her breath, and the sorcerer nodded minutely. Persephone untangled the tiny nails from her t-shirt and leaned forward to hand off the fluffy parcel. "OK. I know that not everyone here is on friendly terms. I'm not stupid enough to believe that you'll all just play nice for the sake of playing nice. However, I expect everyone to be respectful and open. That includes not picking fights because you're being petty. Understood?"
There was a chorus of mumbled agreements. No one was entirely sure of what Persephone was capable of when annoyed and definitely not brave enough to find out.
"Excellent. Katy, you seem to be the most neutral party here. Would you mind telling us what brought you here?"
Katy's usually bubbly expression crumpled into a frown. Her fingers reverently rustled the kitten's fur while she thought of the best way to approach the situation. "Shaun was raised to be an assassin by some thousand year warlord that was in charge of the Ten Rings–it's a crime ring in China. That is a whole other story and not the point. But his mom was from this mythical place full of magic and weird creatures and dragons. There is a lot more to say about it but the main point is some other reality is crashing into that one and the evil dragon thing that was being kept locked was somehow back and the village went on lockdown. But this version is really smart and threatening to leave into the real world and we have no clue what to do."
Seph's eyebrows, along with anyone else's who managed to follow the tale, rose. "Thank you for that Katy. That was very concise and to the point. I think." She turned to Shang-Chi, narrowing her eyes. "So, not a school teacher and a banker who died in a car crash, then."
"I didn't want to lie to you, I swear. Who would've believed me?"
"I would've." She didn't need to remind him of how she moved mountains to get him into a safe living situation going on nothing but his word, mainly because it was already on the forefront of his mind. He considered that life debt with every breath he took while glaring at Stephen Strange. On any other occasion, he probably would've liked the guy; with his favorite therapist, not so much.
The room sat with bated breath for the retort that never came.
"What do you need? From Wong or Stephen or whoever else you needed?"
"We need a way to keep the village contained and help sending the other one back from where it came from." He sighed, falling back into the couch cushions. "We've tried all we can think of and we need someone more capable."
"I suggested he talk to Stephen and you, Persephone." Wong cut in before taking another sip of tea and stealing a chip out of Stephen's bag.
"I'm happy to help however you need." Seph's tone was careful at her follow up. "Stephen?"
"Wong is better at alternate reality spells. I'd just get in the way."
"Oh, shit. He's broken." Everyone cut their eyes at Wanda for stating the obvious, despite the fact that no one really disagreed with that assessment.
"Stephen, that's not true. Why else would Wong have come looking for you if he didn't think you'd be helpful?"
"Because I'm good at pretending I know what I'm doing. I don't actually know what's going on most of the time. You know I don't. I think it's better for everyone if I just stay here and you–"
The snap of Wanda's hand coming across Stephen's face astoundingly echoed in the living room long after it had happened. Or, perhaps, everyone was just so surprised that they felt like they could hear it echo across time. "Get your shit together, Stephen."
Breathing in deeply, the sorcerer's eyes fluttered to a close. It wouldn't do to launch himself across the room to where Wanda had retreated and strangle the woman, especially when she was right. His jaw twitched with the effort of clenching his teeth down so hard his whole face hurt. When his eyes opened, anew, they looked a shade down from murderous.
"I'm not allowed out of the house for another three days."
Katy nodded empathetically. "Oh. Pers put a hold on you?"
"Yes." He dragged the s sound with a little more rage than was warranted.
"Alright there, grouchy. Settle down." She gave his hand another squeeze. "Wanda, we don't hit people."
"You almost killed him. Several times."
"Not on purpose! But I get what you were trying to do. So, if you can just…"
"Sorry, Stephen." She neither looked nor sounded like she was the teeniest bit sorry. No one else looked particularly pained, either.
Stephen's eyes glinted with fire. "Apology not accepted. I don't forgive you."
"Take a breath, Steve. It's not OK that she hit you. Sparking your rage is the easiest way to get you out of funks. She appreciates that we're on a tight timeline."
"And hitting him is fun." Wanda quipped with a self-satisfied smile.
Seph snapped. "Wanda, for fuck's sake!"
"That's not becoming language for a nurturing environment, Peep."
Persephone put the patience cultivated in underfunded government facilities to work and inhaled deeply. When she exhaled, the walls flickered ever-so-gently. "Three days. Can you guys manage that?"
"Yes. We can come up with a plan by then." Shang-Chi bit his lip before adding. "Do you still talk to Matt?"
The question took her by surprise. She briefly wondered if he had gotten some mind-reading skills along with those magical power rings. "Er, yeah. Why?"
"It's about my sister."
Seph balked. "You have a sister!?"
"Yeah and I think she might be in trouble but she lives in China and–"
"Out of curiosity, how much did you lie to me?" A passive mask, one that she had stolen from Stephen many years ago, took over her body language.
His face fell. "Seph…"
"That much? OK." Another deep breath. "I'll call Matty."
"Matty?"
"Not now, Stephen. Really, not now." With a sigh, she rose from the couch to rescue her cell from somewhere in the debris left in the kitchen.
"Darling, are you alright?"
Seph turned to smile at Loki over her shoulder. She found her phone and wiped the screen with the fabric of her t-shirt. "Yeah, I'm fine, bud."
Without saying a word, Loki tilted his head an raised an eyebrow. The expression alone spoke volumes.
"I'll be OK. It's just a lot."
"Stephen will be alright."
"Oh, I know he will. He just needs a few days to feel sorry for himself and he'll be back to his normal self in no time."
Loki nodded, closing the space between them before wrapping his arms around her. He squeezed her tightly until her spine melted and she rested heavily against him. "Thank you."
"You're welcome, flower. You deserve rest and care, too." He placed a finger under her chin to tilt her gaze to his. "There's nothing wrong with needing a moment to not be in control."
"It'd be easier if you all weren't…"
"Messes? Yes, I assume so." He pressed a kiss on her forehead with incredibly delicacy. "You'd be very bored, though."
Seph giggled, nodding in assent. "Go sit with him before he has a breakdown. I'll be right in after I've spoken to Matt."
Persephone had barely made it a few sentences into her conversation with Matt when the screaming match began. With assurances that everything was fine and that she'd forward along any details Shaun gave her, she hastily ended the call and stuffed the phone in her pocket.
"You take it back or I will make you!" Stephen screamed, Loki once again having to hold him by the waist to keep the man from pouncing.
"Yeah, well, funnily enough, I'm not scared."
"Shaun, stop! That was too far and you know it." Katy had slipped between them with a glare. The kitten had skittered off to perch upon one of the bookshelves lining the far wall. "Apologize."
"I wasn't talking about her. I was talking about him."
"You don't talk about her like that, you hear me!" Stephen was in the kind of anger that brought tears to his eyes and made him choke up with the bitterness of the emotion. "You can say whatever the fuck you want about me, you keep her out of your mouth!"
"I was gone for five minutes! What the hell?" Though everyone else glanced in Seph's direction, Shang-Chi and Stephen couldn't stop staring each other down. "What happened?"
Stephen cut in before anyone else could. "Nothing! Nothing that will be a problem, Peep. Don't worry about it."
"It doesn't look like nothing."
"It's better if you don't know, darling," Loki explained, barely able to pull Stephen behind himself and become an extra barrier with Katy. "Apologize, Ring Master. Now."
"I'm sorry."
Wong held his bicep in a vise grip, feeling the energy curling around him with the anger. "I think we should leave. Persephone, I will let you know the details of what has to be done in Ta Lo."
"You guys just got here. I put dinner on."
"Another time, I promise."
Katy ducked to the side, crossing to where Seph stood, still thoroughly confused, and gave her a long squeeze. "I'll call you, Pers. We can have lunch."
"Sure thing, Katy. Take care, hurricane."
Wong, Shang-Chi, and Katy disappeared through a portal but left the heaviness in the atmosphere behind.
"No one's going to tell me what happened, are they?" Both Loki and Wanda shook their heads, at once. "Alright." She cut to where Stephen had sunk into the couch and took a knee in front of him. "Are you OK, buddy?"
"I wasn't wrong to yell at him."
Seph glanced over her shoulder, giving a thumbs up and down, waiting for a response. She got two thumbs up in response, and if the frowns were anything to go by, he had been in his full right to yell. "That's fine, love. I don't care about that right now. Are you OK?"
"I've been better." He dragged the back of his hand across his face. "Are you? You didn't hear, did you?" She shook her head in the negative and he breathed a sigh of relief. "Can I have a hug?"
"Oh, my god, who is this person?"
Loki snickered at Wanda's outburst while watching Seph curl beside Stephen with an expression bordering on fondness. "Come on. If we don't finish dinner, we won't get fed," he supplied, instead to give the two some privacy.
"You want to tell me what's wrong?"
Her voice was soft as she trailed her fingers through his hair. His arms had locked themselves around her waist and he had placed his left ear to her heart. The shaking of his frame due to receding adrenaline had started to settle down.
"Nothing. I did the right thing."
She snickered. "Of course you did. But I want to know if this is going to upset you later."
He chuckled, turning his head to hide in the crook of her neck. "I'm always upset. What else is new?"
"That's not true and you know it, dork."
He lifted his head, offering her a dramatically large smile. "I'm going to be fine. You might get a lot of phone calls apologizing that you won't know what they're about but that's about it." He rested his chin on her collarbone, getting comfortable in her embrace.
"You're really not going to tell me, are you?" Her tone wanted to sound surprised but deep down she knew that, for the right reasons, he was able to keep a secret. Even if it meant he couldn't lord it over someone else. "That bad, huh?"
"Yeah. And you don't need to hear it."
"That's fine. Thank you for whatever it was you did."
Stephen's face brightened, as if he had been given the best gift ever. "You're welcome, Peep."
She kissed his forehead. "Still hungry?"
He rolled his eyes with unneeded energy. "Starving."
They managed to untangle and head towards the kitchen. The front door, however, pounded with them just short of the kitchen threshold.
All four occupants held their breath, ready to fight.
Another round of pounding followed.
"Seph, it's Matt."
A collective sigh was released and Persephone threw the front door open to the small apartment in the Bronx. Jeans and sweatshirts suited the man at the door, much more when he wasn't actively bleeding on her doorstep.
"I know you said you were fine, but I could hear Stephen yelling at someone over the line, so…"
"Of course you did." She stepped aside. "Nothing to do with being just in time for dinner, right?"
Matt laughed, folding his cane as he wandered in without invitation. "Of course not. I am a gentleman."
Stephen peeked out from the kitchen and groaned loudly. "Oh, god, not this guy."
"Doctor Strange. Nice to see you outside the courtroom." Matt smirked. "Well, you know what I mean."
The sorcerer watched as Matt wandered towards the kitchen as if it were a well-practiced route before cutting the distance between himself and his best friend. "I am not explaining the thousand year old god cooking at your stove to that man," he whispered urgently.
Matt was already opening a beer at the kitchen counter. "Don't have to. Loki, was it?"
Stephen's eyes snapped back to Persephone in alarm.
"We're probably going to have to sit down for this one, Steve."

Frostiron Holiday Wishes Challenge ❆ 🎅🎄Master Post!
Thank you to all those who’ve submitted a prompt/wish and lovely artwork/fics for these wishes! Here is a compiled list of all the prompt fills received! :D <3
Tumblr media
Requester: @kimmycup Wish (Prompt/Idea): Invasion fic where Tony figures out Loki was mind controlled before Loki does: "But I WAS in control. Thanos didn't control me like I did Clint." "Yeah sure. And if you wanted to take over the world, what would you do?" Loki spluttered, fully aware that plan was dumb. Still, he would KNOW if he were controlled... Right? "But I wasn't mind controlled! It was me!"

Requester: @brianadoesart Wish (Prompt/Idea): Cupcake shop au!!!  One of our boys owns a cupcake shop and the other one is a FREQUENT visitor to said coffee shop. Lots of people think its because they have a sweet tooth, but they're just hopelessly in love with whichever one owns the shop.

Requester: @snarkyship Wish (Prompt/Idea): Human/no powers AU. Sort-of-enemies to friends to lovers.Tony rents this house/bungalow by the sea for the summer, with a kind of private beach where there is also a cute gazebo. Only that the gazebo is exactly halfway with the other property (by some mistake?). And the tenant of the neighbour bungalow is Loki, who's not so keen on sharing. So Loki&Tony will start a "war" to gain possession of the gazebo, doing their worst using the excuse of "this is my half, I can use it as I want". ((Optional: there is a table right in the middle, so at the beginning they sit at their own side glaring at each other, before starting deploying more convoluted tactics)).Mischief after mischief, they will start to know each other and of course everything will end with one of them inviting the other to their half for a romantic dinner and they'll end up sharing more than the gazebo <3((I hope it's enough clear and but also not too detailed??))

Requester: @lightneverfades  Wish (Prompt/Idea): Loki is a yoga instructor and one day Tony goes to one of his classes and finds out the best positions to ‘relax’ - body, mind and soul >:D. (I love puns, so go crazy hahaha!)

Requester: @martiszcz Wish (Prompt/Idea): Someone is trying to break them up by making Loki jealous, mentioning Tony's playboy years, talking about the time they slept with Tony, talking about how much time he spends with some friend (Pepper, Rhodey, I don't care who) but Loki doesn't react - they trust each other.

Requester: Nivael * Wish (Prompt/Idea): Loki and Tony are in an established relationship. Things go great, but Loki is still unaccepting of his Jotun heritage and body. While Tony is completely fascinated by it, partly because Loki tries to hide it so hard. So he gets a fancy magical gadget from Strange (amulet, bracelet,...?) to be able to avoid frostbite so he can touch Loki even when he's in his Jotun form. Then there will be smut! :D

Requester: @arandomsewer   Wish (Prompt/Idea): I just want him to live on and being supported by his Friends and his brother recognizing him, that's basically the prompt. Tho here's the details of the Idea I had: Loki is living at the tower with the others (of course) too proud to say out loud how much he likes life on earth... The usual.Something happens and suddenly the magic that made him look Asgardian is just not working anymore. Understandably, he freaks out. Im talking hides in his room, crying, anger, hate, on himself and others... The whole lot, he just throws a major fit.The others know him and kind of understand and are patient... But it’s not getting fixed. Days pass, and he's stuck like this. After a while Tony snaps him out of It, and he slowly calms down and starts learning to accept this side of himself. It’s specially strange to him how he can just walk in a room and no one treats him different. How the others are even fascinated by this form. I expect Thor being shocked and curious and snapped at and reminded how he (and his people on general) have been unfair to Loki... And of course, there's the romance with Tony, Who loves him in all his forms (and they fit together 'cause he's kinky and Loki a shapeshifter)Also imagine Loki being terrified of touching Tony and then finding out he's cold to the touch but not actually dangerous (my headcanon: he's the son of Hella. Half giant and half Asgardian, and the actual heir... But that's for another fic)

Requester: @worstloki Wish (Prompt/Idea): Tony and Loki both having panic attacks at the same time. just make it wild. whatever the reasons are, maybe it's the same reason? maybe they have shared triggers? maybe it's separate reasons? maybe the other avengers are around and don't realize the incoming attacks and keep bringing up bad memories? maybe one of them notices the other is freaking out and defends them? maybe drags them away only to also start having a panic attack? whatever. they're both freaking out and just kinda do that. they then bond over it. (this can be crack or angsty I don't mind)

Requester: @shinindragon Wish (Prompt/Idea): The Avengers + Loki fight a villain. Loki uses a lot of his magic, eventually almost draining his energy completely when he protects Tony from getting hurt. When the battle is over, they return to the tower, all of them exhausted. Tony notices Loki doesn't look well, he asks if he's okay. Loki barely gets a word out before he collapses into Tony's arms, unconscious. Thor carries Loki to Tony's and his bedroom, explaining to Tony that he'll be alright, it's just exhaustion from an excessive use of magic. Tony stays with Loki, taking care of him. Fluff and with a sprinkle of angst.

Requester: @blancoluna Wish (Prompt/Idea): Basically Friga wonders where she went wrong, asks the Oracle and goes on a guilt trip realizing she messed up to Valhalla and back. The idea is, being a queen-godess of family, she should be able to do something about it, maybe traveling in time or something... And Loki's gonna need powerful allies and Friends, like the Avengers, for example Now the same, but with detail. This is the way I imagined It. Perhaps it’s too much drama? I just don't know how to tackle It or how to go from here:After everything that happened, Frigga wonders where she went wrong, not just with Loki, but with Thor who didn't appreciate his brother, Odín, who treated him unfairly and even the servants, Who didn't respect him.She wonders if she could have done anything, and the guilt wont let her sleep until she goes to the well of wisdom, the Oracle, to seek answers. She is warned the truth may be even more painful. She may not like the answer... But she goes in.It is way worse than she thought: in one second she is reminded of all the times she should have acted, and chose not to, and she sees how It affected her family. She could and should have done something, and she had plenty of time, but at every chance she chose not to. And its perhaps worse than what Odin did because she knew It was wrong but chose to do nothing about It.But even more: It is confirmed to her that not only Odín never gave Loki a chance: he didn't find him. He stole him from the temple where he was guarded. He is not just the son of Louffey, but also of Hella, and thus, the actual heir to the throne of Asgard. She was supposed to be the godess of family, and here she was, consumed by guilt and shame, by having followed blindly a King Who abused her children and betrayed his own heir, aside from many other crimes. But Frigga can't just spend the test of eternity crying. She must do something. She was raised by witches!!Will she manage to get her hands on the time Stone? Or Will she just travel to another dimension to warn a younger version of herself? Will this be the beginning of a new multiverse? The possibilities are endless, when the godess of family must avenge her child...But first: for him to have a better Life he would need support, allies... Friends. (Enter the Avengers)
Add-on: Frigga having this vision was just meant to be a one shot that would connect many different alternative stories, all with the 'what if Frigga did something for Loki' as a common base. All of them would be Frostiron 'cause I honestly believe they are just meant for one another! It is just so open to so many possibilities... That I never got to writing any of them.
One of the first ideas I had following this concept was of Frigga introducing Tony and Loki early on somehow: as kids they would be like 'imaginary friends' then Tony manages to contact him and they are webcam buds... As young adults, they would help each other go a different path than they did in other lives.... and when Loki needed help, he had allies to back him. (The Avengers, whom Tony may have introduced to him earlier)

Requester: @brianadoesart Wish (Prompt/Idea): MERMAIDS. I like mermaids. Either a fic or art, but I just want more content of mer-Loki or mer-Tony.   I always enjoy versions where Loki is an underwater prince who falls in love with a stupid human inventor by the name of Tony. He's never been 100% happy in the palace with Thor and the others, so he often would go to the shore to watch the humans. He sees Tony working on the beach one day and becomes interested in him from there on. Basically a little mermaid type thing... I am easy to please. I just like mermaids.

Requester: @snarkyship Wish (Prompt/Idea): Finally Tony has managed to locate Loki's whereabouts. And it turns out the godling lives in a pretty loft in Manhattan, with all the comforts and the most advanced midgardian technology ((lighting, temperature and everything controlled by a tablet - the Stark latest model!- , appliances linked to the wifi, and has that roomba a knife??)).Tony decides to have a little fun: who said Loki is the only one who can do a little mischief?? So he takes control over Loki's apartment hacking its system; he starts with some flickering lights, the roomba changing suddenly trajectory to stab him, then blasting music in the middle of the night and so on.And Loki would be so frustrated: at the beginning he thinks about some failure in the inferior midgardian technology, then he'll think to be under attack, but he can't feel any magic signature!! Maybe he'll freak out a little, because there is some kind of unknown entity??? ((And while he may be using all the technology without problems, it doesn't mean he fully understands its working)).Tony will have fun, but he also will discover some cute aspects of Loki's personality, like he sings to his plants and he likes to wear fuzzy socks ((ok it sounds voyeuristic, but Tony would respect part Loki's privacy, maybe he'll spy on him only when in the living room or kitchen)).((And maybe he would help Loki as well? Like, the godling had a nightmare after falling asleep on the couch, and Tony would gently woke him up with music))Loki will eventually understand that Stark, the most clever midgardian, was behind all of this, and well, he's the God of Mischief, he can appreciate a well planned trick. Time to return the favor ;)

I too would like to see this
I’m gonna make it more gender neutral just because :)
Let’s be real Peter Parker only has a few flaws but the biggest one is that he cannot keep any secret
*Makes web fluid in chemistry while also expecting no one to know that he is the Spider-Man*
*Vaults over school gates while also expecting no one to know that he is the Spider-Man*
*Jumps out of the bus window in front of his whole school and puts on the Spider-Man mask while also expecting no one to know that he is the Spider-Man*
Anyways
So this relationship would have slipped out real fast
“And Y/N was like-”
“Who’s Y/N?”
Peter would get all blushy hehe
“Just my friend.” His voice cracks smh
loser
Every single person in that room knows that that is a LIE
“A close friend?”
“Uh, yeah, we’re pretty close, I guess.”
“How close?”
“I don’t really know how to judge how close we are-”
“Judging by the fact that your cheeks are as red as your suit, I say we’ve discovered something.” Tony just kinda smacks Peter a bit u know
Peter is on FIRE
A few weeks pass and you and Peter are standing outside on campus after school
Just talking
And a car pulls up, rolls down the window, and the person inside yells at u
You don’t quite hear what they’re saying but you heard your name and Peter’s and Peter pales at the voice
Come to find out that it’s Tony Stark
:))))))
You just kinda
:o
Peter is so red omg
He finally grabs your hand (his is all sweaty smh) and runs over to the car
Tony leans out the window all smooth smh
“I’m Tony Stark, but I bet you already knew that.”
“I’m Y/N Y/L/N.” You’re just kinda :o still
“Um... we were gonna walk.”
“Change of plans, we’re never gonna get to see you this embarrassed again, so I’m kidnapping you both and taking you back to the tower. Everyone else already knows, there’s no escape.”
You’re almost peeing your pants bc Iron Man is telling you that he’s kidnapping you and that there is no escape
Peter just sighs, softly apologizes to you, and tugs you into the back of the car
You and Peter are frantically texting in the back like ‘is this legal’ ‘I don’t think laws apply to him anymore’ ‘if I’m not home before dinner I’m gonna be dead and not even Iron Man can save me’
You get to the tower and Tony is like aH u gen z kids and ur phOnes come on inside :)))
Tony puts a hand on both of your shoulders and steers you inside the tower
The elevator ride is so bad omg it’s just Peter being so awkward
“Is Captain Rogers here?” (Y’ALL I WROTE MR ROGERS AT FIRST KABGANJDFD)
“Of course, he’s about to lost a bet with me that Y/N actually exists. He didn’t think you were capable of it, kid.”
Peter is about to cRy
“And Ms. Romanoff?”
“Yeah. And Bucky, and Bruce, and Thor. You’re not getting cut any slack tonight.”
The elevator doors open and you go to step out but then Tony turns around and smiles at you
It’s like half genuine
“Welcome, Y/N.”
You walk into literal chaos
There is someone upside down on the couch (upon further inspection it is Thor, the god of tHuNdEr)
Two people are what looks like wrestling on the ground and honestly it just looks really gay (smh Bucky Steve can u not)
Captain America is the first one to notice u and shoves the other guy off
Frowns for a second
Pulls out his wallet
Hands Tony a ten dollar bill
“Wait, you really had a bet going?” Peter is so betrayed.
“Parker, you can’t even order at a restaurant without stuttering and nearly giving up, was I really supposed to believe you were smooth enough to land yourself a relationship?”
Peter is :(
The other guy gets off of the floor and u see that his whole arm is metal
You’re seriously almost crying u are so scared
There is like
such a dad
Just reading in the corner
And he looks up and sees you
He stands and politely introduces himself to you
“Hello Y/N, my name is Bruce Banner, it’s nice to meet you.”
He is the only normal one smh
A woman stands up from the couch and she’s not visibly armed or anything but you can feel your soul leave your body because she is just so so intimidating
She walks over and gives u a lil smile
“I’m Natasha Romanoff. It’s nice to finally meet you.”
The man with the whole metal arm and Captain America stand up
They each introduce yourself and wow you just shook Captain America’s hand how does that feel
Steve likes you ngl he thinks you’re neat
Bucky doesn’t give you his metal arm to shake and you are thankful for that because you think you might pass out any second if he did
They invite you to sit down so you do and then Peter sits right next to you but then Steve sits on your other side and you’re so nervous
They’re watching some dumb action movie but like they’re the avengers that’s their whole lives
Bucky stays quiet but will laugh whenever Steve makes a crack about Peter being too awkward to have a relationship yet
Tony Steve and Natasha just destroy Peter
“Once time he was trying to swing upside down and-”
“Mr. Stark, please don’t-”
“And he not only fell, but he took the ceiling tile with him!”
“Mr Stark!”
“I had to replace that myself!” Tony just >:( at Peter and Peter is like o no
Natasha keeps ruffling his hair and each time she does Peter blushes redder and redder and you’re laughing more and more

Please Hate Me //part 19
Fandom: Marvel
Summary: Based on "Imagine having a love/hate relationship with Loki." by @thefandomimagine
Tumblr media
Even when the world was falling apart around you, you could always count on the Stark Tower's kitchen. The relationship between you was… difficult, to put it matter-of-factly, but it would never betray you. It would never abandon you. Even in the darkest hour, it had your back and provided you with all the support you needed.
"You have a very stupid look on your face," Loki observed with polite interest. "Not that it is a rare occurrence."
You took your dreamy stare off the chips before handing them to Loki. You dug farther into the secret stash under the counter.
"You'll understand in a few minutes."
"I don't want to eat. This, whatever it is, doesn't even look edible."
"Oh, honey, you're in for a wild ride. Wait until I find more flavors."
You produced another package before starting on another shelf. You estimated that you only had a few minutes to make it through this before one of the Avengers decided they weren't yet done with the issue you so narrowly escaped.
Loki eyed the growing pile of food. At least, what he hoped was food. All the unnecessarily colorful, plastic containers were not something he was used to.
He sighed, watching you move around the kitchen. It was not like he had anything better to do—after all, you were the one who managed to get him out of the storm of questions and accusations just minutes ago—but standing there like an idiot was very low on his list of priorities. He tried not to be obvious about it, but once he had a glance at himself in one of the windows he passed, he could only wince at the dramatically smudged blood and dirt all over him. He kept on brushing the sweaty strands of hair off his face, but they kept falling over his eyes anyway.
Of course, he was still glorious. It's not like a few dirt smudges and greenish bruises could hide his perfectly sculpted features (obviously), but he wouldn't say no to a bath. Or a shower, at the very least.
You stood up with a loaf of bread and reached for two plates. "You prefer salami or some veggies on top? I can slice a tomato."
Dumbfounded, it took him a moment to understand.
"Pardon me, but are you about to make sandwiches?"
"Yeah. You prefer toast?"
"We have fought some otherworldly monsters that almost got us killed, got kidnapped and then almost eaten again, and then yelled at for security breach, and you're about to make sandwiches?"
You gestured dramatically towards a high paneled window, showing a beautiful view of an evening setting over New York city.
"We've been out for the whole day and we got a lot of things done. Aren't you at least a little bit hungry? Besides, what kind of situation isn't improved by a sandwich?"
"That's not—" Loki sighed. "That's not even close to my point, you dim-witted human. How can you even think about eating right now?"
"One, that's bold of you to accuse me of thinking," you put one finger in the air. "Two, I'm just hungry, and unless your godly stomach doesn't need food, so should you be. What's wrong with the sandwich, though?"
"Nothing, I just—didn't really expect to get one. Handcuffs, yeah. Some punishment, a lock down maybe. But not a sandwich."
"Is it bad?"
Loki thought for a moment. He had lived a long life, especially by human standards. He lived through a lot of absurd situations, most of which he brought upon himself, but none of them managed to prepare him for this one. Well, at least it wasn't a painful one.
"What's a salami?"
"A cool meat."
"Then salami it is. I just hope it's got nothing to do with that hellish sauce you forced me to consume last time."
You laughed, quickly assembling the ingredients on the bread. Loki wasn't sure the sandwiches were actually needed, given the amount of other food you made him put on the counter, but he didn't argue. To be fair, he didn't even feel angry at any of the pointless actions you dragged him into.
At least Thor wasn’t there. He'd never let that go.
With a hint of hesitation, Loki perched himself on one of the stools on the other side of the counter. He wasn't an expert at Terran cuisine, but he judged it would take you a moment to finish making the meal you were so stubborn about.
His legs appreciated the rest. It only begun to dawn on him how busy the day was. True to your words, once he thought about it, Loki could feel the low rumbling of his stomach, no longer tight from the stress and adrenaline.
Loki caught himself involuntarily listening for the steps to the kitchen, but the floor stayed quiet. Of course, it wasn't the first time he was alone with you, but to think there were Avengers wandering through the very same building, and yet not (or at least no longer) bothering him, was a strange concept to come to terms with. He wondered how long it would last.
Probably until his brother arrived. He had a talent for making things worse.
The silence around should be comfortable and peaceful, at least for the time being. Instead, it forced words out of his mouth—ones that had been on his mind for the past hour.
"Why did you help me?"
Your eyebrows rose a little as you shot him a surprised look.
"What do you mean?"
"I, by all standards, am still a villain. That… meeting wasn't supposed to end with me walking away like that."
He eyed the bracelet still shackling his wrist. It seemed like a small price.
You shrugged, reaching for a tomato.
"I didn't see you at fault for any of what happened. You shouldn't be blamed for that."
"Some people would disagree with you." And he knew their names.
"Point them to me when you meet them next time. I'd love to have a conversation with them."
"What I'm trying to say is… We don't even know each other, so I don't understand why you'd do any of that. No, I'm not talking about the sandwich. You know what I mean, and don't deny it. I'm too tired to fall into word games with you again."
With that, he offered a straightforward conversation. It was not something he often chose willingly, but the day was long and confusing, and the longer he got to know you, the more questions rose in him.
You noticed the change. Rushing it would be unwise. You reached for salami, toying with the packaging for a moment.
"You use the argument of me not knowing you well like it's the only perspective that matters. You make it seem like I'm the kind of person willing to do anything only for the people close to me. Has it ever occurred to you that, just maybe, most of what I do and say, I choose for my own sake too?"
You pulled the package open.
"To put it in simple terms, I don't care who you think you are. From the moment I realised you weren't a madman or a psychotic killer beyond reasoning, I decided to treat you like any other person put in your position. And I did that for my sake too, partially at least. I don't like to make choices I don't feel good about and I don't like letting other people's opinions stain my own. You may not know this, but once upon a time I was in a very similar situation, with a price over my head and more people seeking vengeance for my actions than I could count. I made some mistakes, but I was offered a chance to be treated like a person and… well, maybe not redeem myself, but at least to do some good. To do things that matter to some people."
"That doesn't really answer my question."
"Then let me rephrase—I treat you like a person because I see a person in you. Not the villain. Not the God of Mischief. You. A person as tired as me, and hungry enough to excuse my poor attempts at fancy cuisine." You put one of the plates in front of him.
Loki blinked. It didn't vanish.
"Is that a ketchup heart on top?"
"Yeah. Thought it looked cute."
"I hereby excuse your attempts at creativeness. Stil, it's not like I'm going to be friends with you, though."
"That's okay. We can just not kill each other for a while,” you said, attacking your sandwich. Your stomach sighed with delight.
A look you didn't understand crossed Loki's face. "It would be easier if you just hated me."
"Definitely. But do you want it the easy way, or the fun way, Mr. Trickster?"
Hesitation changed into something else. What exactly, Loki still didn't know, but it didn't seem like a bad idea to give himself some time to figure it out.
"I'm fairly certain there's only one answer to that. For the record, though, I don't want to be the sidekick."
"We'll think about that. Now, let's move somewhere else before they find us and bore us to death."

Wow I’m so sorry this was so long. But guess what? It’s gonna get even longer. Sorry, again.
So one of the differences between the first and second Thor movies is that Thor 2 has humor in the climax whereas Thor 1 doesn’t. This is because of the differences with who is the villain. In Thor 1, Thor is having to fight his brother. To quote Avengers, they “played together and fought together” for several millennia. Of course there’s not going to be any humor in it cause there shouldn’t be. The climax at the end of the movie isn’t supposed to be some epic battle between the forces of Good TM and Bad TM. It’s supposed to be tragic that he’s having to fight his own brother because Loki lost his mind due to so many factors. The last joke in the film is “You’re an amazon liar brother, always have been” “It’s good to have you back”. There’s nothing else till the end credit scene. That’s because Kenneth Branagh knew that this was supposed to be viewed at as being sad a hopeless, not some awesome upbeat battle.
Thor 2 on the other hand, is exactly that. Thor has known Malekith for.. what? 2 days? Maybe 3? His relationship and dynamic with Malekith is different than with his brother. To Thor, this is just another enemy attacking Asgard. And I’m not sure whether this was intentional or not (because I remember reading somewhere how Allen Taylor had a bitch of a time in the editing process so I think the movie came out different than he intended) but the lack of any personal relationship will Malekith means the film can make really funny jokes and still have it fit with the film. If anything, I might even argue that the humor helped the film to maintain a very nice positive vibe. Idk I can’t think of the right words to explain it but the jokes actually fit the film very well.
However, then we move on to Ragnarok. With Ragnarok, Thor is fighting his sister. While (just like Malekith) he has only known her for two days, that still doesn’t take away the fact that he is having to fight his sibling. And I’m not a film director but if I had the option of approaching this situation and taking it the Thor 1 route or the the Thor 2 route, I’d go with Thor 1. Because it’s actually incredibly tragic that Hela has been driven to insanity like Loki (though ok a different level) due to Odin’s shitty parenting. She is the horrible way she is because Odin made her that way. And that could’ve been an AMAZINGLY complex story with the audience feeling so much sympathy for Hela like we did with Loki in Thor 1, but the narrative just falls flat for two reasons. 1) Taika admitted he didn’t want the film to be emotionally complex so 2) The humor in the climax completely detracts from the seriousness of the situation.
Also, some side notes: Yes, this is edited from the original. I accidentally deleted everything and then had to go back and add everything back in. So I also had to re-tag people too. And I also added a bit more explanation at the end. I meant to do so when I originally posted but it never got done till now. Sry. Also sry that it’s so long

Unforeseen Chasm (Part 25)
Prompt: Two sisters fall for men that are absolute enemies. The love they have could tear all of them apart, or it could bring them together.
Word Count:1107
Warnings: argument mentioned,mentions of betrayal,abandonement
Note: This is by far the longest thing I’ve ever written (including my novels). It’s a collaboration with the amazing @mrs-dragneel-stark-solo. It started as a funny “What if…?” and it evolved and got huge. This took two years to write. We are both proud and happy and we hope you enjoy it. It follows from Thor 1 to Endgame in the MCU. Some of the timelines may be off in order to fit certain people, and some characters may show up earlier or in different ways than they have in the movie. But for the most part, it follows the MCU. It also has a bit of crossover with some other Marvel characters throughout the story.

Later the next night, Shannon came down with some equipment that made you curious.
“What’s all this?” you asked, excited to see her. It’d only been one day, but it was too many hours since you’d seen her.
“A little gift,” she informed with a smile before opening up the cell. She didn’t make you or Loki stand back. Probably because Loki was already in the office, and you were just a few feet from the entrance.
“Oh?”
“Mhm.” She sat her things down and began working. She pulled off the control panel on the box near the entrance.
“You breaking us out?” you asked with a joking laugh.
“Not just yet,” she replied with a small smile.
“So… how are you and Tony?” you carefully asked, hoping you weren’t overstepping your bounds. Ironic, seeing as two years ago, you could’ve immediately bombarded her with any questions about Tony and she would’ve obliged.
She shrugged. “Better… Apparently he didn’t get much sleep while I was gone, but to be fair, neither did I,” she admitted. “It’s hard not sleeping next to him, but sometimes it’s harder knowing he can be such a jackass,” she muttered while she worked. “Does that ever happen with you and Loki?” she wondered.
At first, for a split second, red flags went off in your head. Why would she be inquiring about you and Loki? Was she trying to divide you two? Was she trying to get you to open up about weaknesses in the relationship?
But then, you realized, she was just making conversation. She wanted to get to know Loki, and although you weren’t one-hundred percent sure that was the reason, you had vowed to try and trust her back. Trust was a two way street.
“Uh… I’m not sure. We only fought once while we were on Sanctuary. I was begging him to stop the takeover, but he reminded me that we literally had no choice. If we didn’t do it, Thanos would kill everyone we loved, make us watch, and then kill us.” You toyed with your fingers as she listened patiently. “We did just fight about you though.”
Shannon frowned slightly and put the cover back on the control panel before going over to another one in the cell, where you followed. You recalled the small argument you two had. Loki was happy that Shannon was back in your life, but of course he was paranoid about it as well.
“Me? Why me?”
“Loki doesn’t exactly trust you, but I told him he was being ridiculous,” you summed up.
“Well… he is a trickster, it’s in his nature to think everyone is like him, and that everyone is looking to betray him. From what I read of your letters, it sounds like he had good reason to, too.”
“What do you mean?” you asked, surprised she took his side.
“Well, he was raised for over a thousand years to believe he was Asgardian, had a shot at the throne, all for it to be one big lie. His father abandoned him, left him to die on a rock… His adoptive father withheld the truth of his true nature and why he took him for his entire life… His friends, who were Thor’s, treated him badly and the second they got a chance to rat on him, they did. Thor’s a good guy and all, but I can see how he treats him differently, not as his equal. You said it yourself that Thor tried to kill the Jotunheims, right?”
You nodded.
“And Thor was exiled, then hailed a hero… Loki did the same thing and Odin told him no. I mean, even the attack on New York. Yes, it’s shitty. Yes, you two are basically terrorists… But even then, does that measure up to half the bloodshed Odin and Thor caused?”
All you could do was think. You tried to remain neutral for the last couple of years… but when she put it like that, you really understood Loki’s feelings now. You understood them, and sympathized before, but now… Now it seemed as though it was obvious why he felt the way he did.
“Not to mention, I am a spy. Loki isn’t stupid. He’s cautious. He calculates everyone’s motives, actions… Nat got the best of him on that helicarrier and I don’t think he liked it.”
A small laugh came tumbling out of your lips. “No, no he didn’t. So you’re not… mad?”
She put the cover on the control panel and picked up an electronic tablet.
“Mad at a man who felt overlooked his entire life, and then was exploited because of it? Mad at a man who is only looking out for you? Mad at a man that is only trying to make sure you’re not hurt again?” She handed you the tablet. “No, I’m not.”
To hear that somehow made your heart warmer. Maybe there was hope for all of his afterall. You being friends was great, more than you deserved, but if you could get her and Loki to see eye to eye then you’d be on top of the world.
“What’s this?” you asked.
“Wow, Asgard really did spoil you,” she teased. “This, is a tablet.”
You rolled your eyes. “I know it’s a tablet, Shan. What is it for? Tony said we couldn’t have internet access.”
She shrugged. “You don’t. This is just a one-way chat and video device for you and me. It only connects to me and my devices. You can’t get out onto the internet with it. Think of it like a walkie-talkie.”
“Oh, wow,” you said, holding it as if it were the Holy Grail. “So I can just… talk to you anytime I want?”
She grinned and nodded. “Mhm. You can reach me in the lab, or while I’m out running errands. I can show you the park. We can text late at night...”
You fought back tears. “Shannon, this is… this is great. Thank you. Some actual contact with the outside world.”
“Anything I can do to help. You need anything l can get while I'm here?”
“More clothes?” you asked with a slightly nervous laugh.
She returned it. “I'll see what I can do. Does Loki want anything in particular?”
“Other than an all black suit, no. I think some green shirts and jeans will be fine,” you assured with a smile.
“I’ll work on it. It was good to see you,” she said, nodding at you and smiling.
“Yeah, you two. Thank you so much for all this. It means a lot.”
With that, she gave you a friendly smile and left.

While you wanted absolutely nothing to do with anyone, you couldn’t help but feel lonely.  You wanted someone to be there to comfort you, and at that point, it didn’t matter who it was.  You yearned for any sort of normal human contact, and it was starting to drive you crazy.
You wanted to talk to Steve again, though you knew that was definitely a bad idea.
He avoided you at all costs, and that broke your heart.
Like most days, you found yourself in Tony’s lab, watching him and Bruce research Loki’s sceptre.  You didn’t need to talk.  Just being in the same room as two people that were completely focused on something else was good enough.
They gazed at a 3D hologram comparison of JARVIS’ consciousness and a potential rendering of the reading inside the sceptre’s stone.  You gaped.  It was --
“Like it’s thinking,” Bruce noted.  “They’re like neuron’s firing.”
“Yeah,” Tony said.  “In all senses of the word, this is the big stick.  Imagine if we could harness this power, and apply it to my Iron Legion protocol...”
Bruce raised an eyebrow.  “That’s a mad-sized if.”
You shifted uncomfortably.  “Tony, even if we could harness this power, we don’t know how it works.”  You shuddered.  “You saw what it did to Clint, Selvig, and everyone else.”
“Y/N, you carry the power of an ancient goddess on your finger.  How is this any different?” he questioned.
You opened your mouth to reply when you stopped yourself.
“So you’re going for artificial intelligence, and you don’t want to tell the team,” Bruce concluded.
“Right.  We don’t have time for a city hall debate,” Tony replied.  “This could be a real game changer.  I see a suit of armor around the world.  Peace in our time.  Imagine that.”
You frowned deeply.  You could see where Tony was coming from, but something about keeping secrets from the rest of the team is something you didn’t want to be a part of.
--
The next few days, you saw less and less of Tony.  He shut himself away in his lab, downing endless amounts of coffee to stay awake.
By the time the party came around, everything seemed to be normal.
You watched the scene from upstairs, gazing over the railing, watching people mingle.  You told yourself you should be doing that too, but you just couldn’t deal with people.  You could hardly deal with yourself.  Taking a sip of your drink, you sigh.  At least this was able to distract you from your guilt.
Everyone seemed so happy.  You forced yourself to smile when people came around, even Helen, who briefly socialized with you before going to talk to Thor.
You watched Steve talking with Sam on the other side.  You didn’t know him very well, but judging from how relaxed Steve seemed around him, you could tell Sam was a good man.
“Have you guys talked?”
You turned to see Natasha standing beside you, looking over at Steve as well.
“No,” you replied, taking another sip of your drink.
“You should,” she said.  “The tension’s killing me.”
You sighed.  “Well, I have nothing to say,” you said.  “Besides, he’ll never listen. I betrayed him and broke his heart.”
“Hearts break,” she said with a pursed smile.  “They’re made to break.  If not, then what’s the point?”
“I’m scared,” you said.  “I’m scared of messing up again.  I’m scared to talk to him.”
Natasha shook her head.  “Don’t.  You don’t need to,” she said.  “If he really loves you, he’ll understand.”
You took a deep breath before downing the rest of your drink.  She took your empty glass and nudged you towards his direction.
As you walked, the only things registering were the click of your heels and him standing in front of you.  He wore a bright smile, which made you even more nervous
He turned, his smile disappearing almost entirely, making your heart drop to your feet.
“Can we talk?” you asked.
He nodded at Sam before turning towards you.  “What?”
You bit your lip.  “Not here.”
You both stepped outside to the quiet balcony.  You glanced down at your feet before meeting his icy blue eyes.
“I’m sorry, Steve,” you said.
“For what?”
“For lying to you,” you answered.  “I thought if I kept everything to myself, I could sort it out, but I ended up making more of a mess.”
He scoffed.  “You did.”
You wrung your hands nervously.  “I need to fix this, but I don’t know how,” you continued quietly.  “I’d ask for your help, and the rest of the team’s...but I could only dream of asking.”  You closed your eyes.  “It’s perfectly understandable if you hate me.  I mean, I hate myself for being this naïve.”
“I don’t hate you.”
You looked at him.
“I don’t,” he said.  “I’m just disappointed.  I thought you were better than most people, Y/N.”  He frowned.  “But it turns out you really are just a kid.”
You laughed bitterly.  “Just say it.  There’s no need to be polite about it.”  You gazed at him with teary eyes.  “You hate me.”
“I don’t.”
“Liar.”
As you felt your heart being torn, you glanced beyond Steve to see a black figure in the shadows.  Your heart raced as you recognized his black mask and glinting metal arm.
The Winter Soldier.
He cocked his gun and shot, and before Steve could react, you shoved him aside and tried your best to concentrate, to use the air to stop the bullet.  Your mind was racing just as fast, almost running off the rails.
You gasped as you felt pain blossoming in the left side of your chest.  Falling back onto the ground, you felt your blood pool around you like a crimson halo.
Steve had his shield and threw it towards the soldier as he jumped off the side of the building, making a quiet escape.
“Oh my God,” Steve gasped.  “Y/N?”
He rushed over and lifted you into his lap.  He applied pressure to your wound.  “Why’d you do that?” he shot, his voice rising.  “What were you thinking?”
You opened your eyes.  “Steve...”
His blue gaze was filled with panic.  “Y/N, stay with me.”
By that time, the rest of the team assembled outside with them, curious bystanders standing by the window inside.  Helen helped wheel you back inside to the medical wing with Bruce.
Steve stood in shock, your blood on his shaking hands.  He tightened them into fists and released them, watching the thick blood drip.
There was so much of it.
He wanted to follow you.
“Who was that, Cap?” Tony asked.
Steve looked down and closed his eyes.
“The Winter Soldier,” Natasha answered for him.  “This is the same assassin we were dealing with when SHIELD fell.  He’s got multiple assassinations credited to his name.”
“Well, what does he want from us?” Tony piped.
Steve glanced at Tony with realization.  “The sceptre...”
“Shit,” Tony muttered.  “JARVIS?”
There was silence on the other end.  Tony panicked as he ran inside all the way to the lab, where he found the sceptre missing.
“J?  Come on, I know you’re there,” Tony said as he glanced at the 3D rendering of JARVIS in the corner.
“S-sir,” the AI said through a bit of static.  “I apologize, but my defense systems were offline.  I’ve eradicated the virus.”
Tony sighed.  “It’s okay.  What’s important is that you’re still here.”
“I’m flattered, sir.”
“Tony?” Steve asked as he walked into the lab, Natasha, Clint, and Thor behind him.
The billionaire shook his head.
“It’s gone.”
Steve crossed his arms, exhaling slowly.  “God, first Y/N, and now this...”
“Steve,” Tony said.
The other looked at him with slight surprise.  Tony rarely called him by his first name.
“You should go check on Y/N,” he said.  “I’ll work on tracking it down.  Luckily Bruce and I have done this before, so it’s nothing new.”
Steve sent a thankful glance before turning and running down the hall towards the medical wing.
