Anime of the day: Hataraku Saibou Black
Tumblr media
Alt Title: Cells at Work! CODE BLACK!
Released: 2021
This anime makes me feel bad. Like while watching this anime I kept apologizing to my body. I mean literally “I’m sorry Hakkekkyuu-san I know I shouldn't use the spoon I dropped on the floor but I did anyway.” This anime is about a new red blood cell. He is super optimistic; however, the owner of this body takes no care of his body at all! As I’ve stated, this show makes me feel guilty, but not too guilty. Like I don’t drink my body to oblivion. The show is organically funny. This anime is a spinoff of the original Cells at Work, but it is much more mature. Where the original was more kid friendly this one is less. I mean it explains intercourse and various other things. However, I really liked this anime. It was nice and funny and eye opening. The opening is "Hashire! with Seiya Yamasaki” and the ending is “上を向いて運ぼう with 赤血球・白血球” both are by Polysics.

After the August 23rd release of their new single “NO MORE Rekka Jisshaka”, their first release in about 10 months, Kyuuso Nekokami releases the music video to the public. Before the release of this music video, the group uploaded the teaser trailer titled “Preview of Horobi no Rekka, starring Kyuuso Nekokami” one week earlier. Continuously after these real movie scenes, SNS overflowed with voices asking “Is this Kyuuso Nekokami’s acting debut? Where will it be released?” as searches for the original comic titled Horobi no Rekka soared, and many people were left confused, unable to find it anywhere on the web. On the other hand, there were also courageous warriors, confusing the situation even more when they took up the challenge against the creation of the movie with outbursts like, “There’s no way I’ll forgive a live action adaption of that manga masterpiece!”, and there were many fans who spent a week baffled by the mystery.
(*) In the middle of it all, the music video was released. All of the band members performed seriously as the manga heroes in special make-up and costumes, and the video introduced figures who can no longer be thought of as musicians. Doing things like covering their bodies from head to toe in green, each member spent the whole time filming in full costume, which often reached up to 23 hours. They completed a great work that transcends the genre of music video. Of course, we can also answer the question, “What is this movie Horobi no Rekka that was just announced?”
*The title of the parody film, Horobi no Rekka, can be translated to “The Destruction of Rekka.” Rekka, written in katakana, can be a perfectly manga-suitable title like 烈火 (raging fire) or the same 劣化 (degradation, a drop in quality) from the song’s title.

Anime of the day: Hataraku Saibou Black
Tumblr media
Alt Title: Cells at Work! CODE BLACK!
Released: 2021
I love the original Cells at Work. I never thought Black would top it. But it did. Cells at Work Black is the most realistic take on the human body. I mean we, as humans, are trash, and this anime proves it. When you don’t properly take care of your body it encounters a sea of turmoil. And those poor blood cell’s jobs become even harder and more dangerous. That’s right! This anime is set inside a trash human who is overworked, balding, and drowning in alcohol and energy drinks. However, while the parent anime is more kid friendly this one isn’t. I mean the dude gets gonorrhea and doesn’t get it fixed right away. Yeah choices were made.
"Hashire! with Seiya Yamasaki" by Polysics is the opening. It’s on my personal playlist. The ending is "上を向いて運ぼう with 赤血球・白血球" by Polysics. Both are pretty fire, but the opening is my favorite of the two.
