Honestly I thought we'd left the “Tai was neglectful” discourse back years ago.
Because yeah, he was. I get him: he was left by his first wife and her second one disappeared and never came back, and that he suddenly saw himself a single father of two, still having to work to support them while he was still grieving, and the only person who could help him probably had to keep his distance most of the time because he was afraid his bad luck would affect them. And I understand that he was incredibly depressed, and that he loves his daughters more than anyone in this world and that eventually he came back from it (we see him spending time with his daughters and reading stories to them in canon content), and Yang did say in volume 5 that her father was always busy with school, so I also assume that the guy worked a lot and that he always made sure Yang and Ruby had their basic necessities covered. But he did neglect Ruby and Yang emotionally for a while, and that did affect Yang. That's it. He's not a bad person, he just wasn't the best father for a while.
It's sort of like Willow. She was a caring mother for her children when their kids were little; Weiss really implied it. And seeing she is able to summon Grimm, I assume she could fight and that she even could have been the one who taught Winter how to do so (and Winter's original outfit seemed to be based off hers in portrait, so I assume they were close). But then Weiss' tenth birthday happened, and everything came crashing down. She became very depressed, and started drinking to numb that pain, becoming an alcoholic. I do feel bad for Willow; I know that she really does love all her children, and that in volume 8 she took a turn, stopped drinking and started repairing her relationship with at least two of her children. I know she's trying to be better now, but that doesn't change the fact that she was neglectful towards her kids as well. She didn't only allow Jacques to still abuse her those years, she also allowed her kids to be abused because she was usually to drunk or depressed to do anything. We saw that the closest thing to a proper mother figure Weiss had growing up was Winter herself, who was only fifteen when her mother shut down and had to take on that role. We've all also seen how Winter turned out, emotionally repressed trying to distance herself as much as she can from her entire family as possible, not just Jacques. And we saw Whitley; how lonely he felt because his sisters got to leave and he's stuck with their abusive father and their alcoholic mother, that he was so young when his mother shut down that he probably doesn't even remember when she was a loving mom, and how he at first could barely even stand being in the same room with Willow or her talking to him because he resented her.
They both made mistakes and that has shaped their kids being the way they are, not only because their mom left or died or because their father is abusive. That doesn't mean I hate them, of course. I love both Willow and Tai, I don't think they're bad people, I want to see their families heal and I wanna see them spend time with their kids, and most of all, I know that they'd give their lives if that meant seeing their kids safe because despite everything, I don't doubt that Tai loves Yang and Ruby and that Willow loves Whitley, Weiss and Winter as well, more than anything in the world. That's all.

Friendo! Hello! How have you been? I come to place another request that's basically just the same HoHE!Elysia!Reader prompt from last time that was with Jing Yuan+Blade (because I still am a sucker for that idea and it's been in my head rent free).
May I request the characters this time be Welt Yang, Dan Heng and Kafka?
-----♡
A/N: Hey there! I absolutely loved this request, so I hope you'll like this one too! Also forgive me for taking so long... work sucks haha... (Og post here.)
Content: Fluff, established relationships, mentions of battle, something cute and wholesome for once, sfw
Reader has no set pronouns!
((Not fully proofread))
-----♡
》Dan Heng
Tumblr media
Dan Heng was always so quiet and reserved with his love for your Herrscher form. He'd stand there in silence, as he took in everything about you, watching you deal with enemies so gratefully it made his heart ache with love. And it didn't help, that he could get lost in the starry domain you created for centuries, if you let him. He was in love with you in every way and found you to be perfect, even if he never voiced it.
So he showed his fascination with you, by agreeing to a duel. He trusted you, just as much as you trusted him. He'd never hurt you, even if you asked him to give it his all. He just wanted to see your divine form again as you fought him, the endless starry skies stretching out above you as you fought.
Eventually, you ended up in his warm embrace, his forehead pressed against yours, eyes closed as he softly panted. The silence was filled by a melody created by your hearts and souls becoming one, as you absently swayed under the stars together for what seemed to be eternity to him.
-----♡
》Welt Yang
Tumblr media
Welt knew all about your Herrscher form and yet still found himself watching you in silent awe. How could he not, when you were so divine? He could watch you endlessly and still not have enough of the sight of you. It often left you bashful, especially when you noticed the spark in his eye after a battle. He'd apologise for his stares with a smile, not meaning a word of it.
He was therefore hesitant to agreeing to a duel. It wasn't that he was afraid of hurting you, he would never. No, he just wanted you to rest in his arms and stare up at the stary skies of your domain forever. But alas, he is unable to deny you a thing and eventually agreed to a small fight. Even during it, you could feel his adoring gazes and lingering glances.
He spins you after an attack with ease, before pulling you into his arms with a chuckle. Seems like he has won, but that didn't matter to him, as he gently swayed with you through your domain, uncaring of the stars and galaxies that surrounded you. Why would he care anyways, when his whole world was in his arms?
-----♡
》Kafka
Tumblr media
Kafka fell in love with you at first sight. How could she not, when you were so fascinating and divine to her? You were a light that shone in the darkness she considered her life. Without you, she'd be lost, something she often tells you in hushed whispers and teasing words. Anyone that dared disagree with how perfect you were, was shut down by her. No one would dare question you and your abilities she loved so much, with her around, that's for sure.
And since she can't deny you a single thing, she didn't think twice to agree to duel you. You had to however tell her to not hold back, as she can't get herself to be hard on you. The fight was elegant and graceful, the stars and galaxies reflecting in your eyes, when all you could see was eachother. Lingering touches, longing stares, dreamy exhales. It was all too much.
Eventually, she just pulled you into a waltz, humming a tune for you to dance to, as she rested her head on your shoulder with a satisfied smile. It was never a duel for her in the end, in fact, it was all just a performance. A performance that proved her love and devotion to you in ways only you could ever understand. And she'd be damned, if anyone dared take you away from her.
-----♡
A/N: Alright! I hope this was alright! I've been starting to slowly feel better and less tired lately, so I'm actually quite satisfied with my work now. I hope you liked it Anon and thank you for the request and your patience!<33

What are your thoughts on WR development overall and your thoughts on WR being developed/made canon in V10?
Ugh I am going to ramble about everything here I can feel it...well you asked for it. I apologize for none of it, and if you all hate me at the end well I don't mind.
Volume 6 and before are pretty much great. They go from kinda at odds to tentative friends, learning to trust, and rely on each other, best friends, pining over one and other and V6 was a loooot of WR for us to feast on.
Afterward I felt like it got sidetracked. There could be various reasons for this (in hindsight I feel like Penny being given a way bigger role so her death could hit harder is to blame for part of this because realistically how long has Ruby known Penny? A month?)
Even if you don't like the ship they're supposed to be canon best friends so I take personal issue with almost all of volume 9.
I think it was sloppy writing that didn't move the story forward, and even though I don't care about Bees I feel like they still got shafted since they basically were forced to confess to move things along, and them doing so made them miss out on the sister/supposed friend and her problems, and only showcased the worst sides of the relationship.
For example Yang let's Ruby scream at Weiss but only moves to do something when Blake gets yelled at. Blake and Ruby still have...less dialogue than Ruby does with Ren I think etc.
Jaune was too present merely because his entire deal took away from Ruby's imo.
I've said it before but frankly Nora falling and learning who she is away from Ren so when she sees him in V10 she's ready for the relationship is far more satisfying to me narratively.
Leave Jaune above ground so he has to deal with the fact that he thinks he failed his friends and they all died and let him learn from that experience instead.
This also doesn't take into account that Jaune's one interesting change in 9 (being old) is taken away via random deaging (although I guess this makes deaging canon and hey young maria this is how dwr can still win! more at 11!)
Generally when characters go through a volume you want some sort of arc for them to go and change through. Weiss gets none of that. Out of all the characters nothing really happens to her, and she doesn't change at all. She's just sad about Atlas. Neat.
There's no time for it just like there's no real time for Ruby.
In Ruby's own words 'gotta help Jaune right?' and they do. Ruby removes herself from the census, which is how its framed, and they stop to...help Jaune.
There are a few moments that are WR'ish in 9. The Nevermore summon, Weiss believing in Ruby, and calling her name first etc, but overall Weiss's main job is to backslide.
I said it before but in the market Neo, the perfect assassin is after Ruby, and they split up. Weiss goes 'gross nosehairs', and ditches her best friend who she already knows by that point is NOT doing well.
This is not Volume 1. This Weiss is not that petty, and she's literally had to manhandle corpses. The fact that she wouldn't stay near her canonical best friend, and leader is asinine, and only happens so she can be alone to meet the smith.
Even if Weiss can't help Ruby fight Neo she's an extra pair of eyes (and Neo doesn't care how crowded it is in the market), and just being there for Ruby can help.
With all that said RWBY is big into symbolism. When WR are together in almost all the side spin off material it means something. Manga Anthologies has them making heart eyes and flirting like every other page. Ice Queendom was a love letter to WhiteRose (precious?). The movies, etc.
When their weapons rest next to each other on screen like the Bees do? It means something. When their flowers break ranks to be near each other (and Weiss's flower is the lily please note)? This means something.
Ruby can stand and jump from missile to missile but has to wrap her arms around Weiss to stay seated?
If Chibi continues it's pattern of predicting things in the main plot then the fact that Weiss is the woodsman in the fairy tale means a loooot as in several versions of that fairy tale the woodsman marries little red after helping her deal with the wolf problem (which varies by the story).
They're the knight and princess for each other. Ruby comes into Weiss's live turns it upside down, and helps her change. Likes her for her genuinely and wants to be her friend at the start. Through this she changes the world for Weiss, and helps her grow, and Weiss in turn helps Ruby be the leader she can be.
But yeah I guess that's just friends things and they should date some guys they've had like a half a dozen lines with instead? I don't get it really.
She and Oscar punch each other in the face, and they talk about strategy. Oscar has a younger kid crush on her, and Ruby is awkward because that's her headmaster in this kids head. Oh right he went in for a hug she ignored. Peak romance.
Jaune and Weiss have almost no interactions, and when he saves her at Haven her response isn't to be like 'omg i love you' it's 'keep doing it i have work to do'. Are they friends now? Sure, but that's about as far as it goes.
It remains that outside of group hugs the only person that's allowed to initiate contact with Weiss almost all the time outside of battle is Ruby.
Ruby knows when she needs help and will guide her away when she needs it, but other people don't' touch Weiss unless she does it first because they know she doesn't like it...except Ruby.
I have tried to look at other relationships for them, and I honestly don't see them as realistic.
Even Penny would need a lot more development to make it work. I get that it's cute and wholesome but they've known each other for again a month, and Penny just defers to Ruby.
Ruby needs a partner and equal not a submissive enabler. That's a relationship you have with a pet, and not a person.
Now if Maria were young and hot that'd be different...
Anyway...
Tumblr media
Ruby and Weiss are partners. If they're allowed to have the much needed conversations they never seem to get, ie haven, ever after, Ruby's mom, everything, etc.
Then is it possible? Maybe. If they do go WR I suspect it'll be more hints, and slow ramp up until the final season.
I would expect it either on the eve of the final battle, or literally during it maybe as in Weiss gets feds up with waiting, and decides to do something about it.
More likely at this point is they'll both just end up single with maybe faint hints so fans can imagine what they want for it.
Would I prefer it if it was WR so the team can truly be family? Yes, but I don't even know if we're getting a volume 10 at all to be honest. The fact that it wasn't announced at the last festival, and we get an extended eppy, and then nothing after the last movie?
Not making me feel super confident. I could be wrong though. On many things. Except Young Maria.

welt except he has a fever and desperately needs sleep
cw: descriptions of illness, high fever, being kinda delirious/out of it, sleep deprivation?, nightmares, headaches, mentions of death
contains spoilers for welt's hi3 lore
also, disclaimer! welt in here is very reluctant to ask for help and feeling bad about it because... well i imagine he'd react like this, BUT! needing help and asking for it is completely normal and valid and okay; please remember that and take care of urself ok!! ily /p
alright, so...
i'm gonna be honest since i found @bugbytez13 's blog welt sickfic ideas don't want to leave my head LMAO except i will write a detailed description of a fic instead of the fic itself. that's it that's the post
tbh this ramble in particular could be made into two separate fanfics (one sickfic and one specifically about the nightmares) but shh
i will forever be self conscious or anxious about things i post that aren't just headcanons or silly little rambles, but also... writing this went surprisingly smoothly so! enjoy the essay or something idk HAHA
======================================
so, about welt...
i just know this man is going to force himself to stay awake. maybe his self-sacrificing issues are less present now, and he doesn't immediately throw himself in danger in every fight ever, but he's still stubborn as hell. so he won't admit something is wrong. he won't admit that maybe getting way too little sleep several days in a row wasn't doing wonders for his immune system and he's now finally feeling the consequences. to be fair, he expected it might end like this, but he didn't want to take breaks - there's still too many things to take care of before they finally head to penacony. and now, he will still insist of taking care of everything, even though his body is basically begging him to go take a nap.
except maybe, he didn't even expect it to get this bad. or thought that he can just power through it. i mean, he's been through much worse, right? this is nothing compared to literally losing his body for some time. but he's sitting in the parlor car, and he's half awake, and unusually cold, and his head is hurting, and keeping up the act is getting harder and harder - but he has to, because the younger members of the crew are here too, even if only march is talking to him.
but they pick up on the fact that something is wrong, of course they do. his eyes are unfocused, he looks like he's about to fall asleep - or pass out - and march had to repeat herself twice for him to even fully process what she was asking him, and so suddenly stelle is next to him, attempting to touch his forehead - and he recoils. "i'm fine," he says, and it's probably a bit too quick and a bit too firm than he'd like it to be, and all of this is stupid, really, because he shouldn't be scared of someone touching him. how hot can it really be anyway if he's feeling so cold, right? but if that wasn't enough dan heng asks an even more dreaded question, "are you sure, mr yang? do you want us to call himeko?" and welt decides it's time to excuse himself, before he makes them even more worried. because even in his present state, he can pick up on the fact they're concerned, but at the same time unsure of what to do, and it makes him feel guilty. of course they're unsure; he's usually their caretaker, and he always knows what to do, and it should never be the other way around. he should've just stayed in his room all day, shouldn't he.
"thank you all for your concern, but i'm alright." he stands up. "now, please excuse me, i still have some work to do." of course that's true, but he's almost certain he won't be able to focus on that- but he just needs an excuse to get out from here and be left alone anyway.
but stelle is right next to him, and looking determined to accompany him to his room, too. "you look like you're about to fall, mr yang," they explain, and he wants to insist that he's okay once again, but realizes he's too tired to do so. it would take him at least a few minutes, and it's a few minutes he doesn't have nearly enough energy for. he just wants to finally lie down. so, he lets stelle essentially escort him into the hallway and to his bedroom, and make sure he doesn't collapse on his way there, and-- it's embarassing, honestly, because it's already so difficult for him to show himeko the slightest hints that something might be wrong, and right now the situation is similar but ten times worse - so it's also ten times harder for him to come to terms with the fact he needs to rely on someone.
"my... apologies for making you all worry," he says quietly when they reach his room, and he's so thankful that he left the lights off, because the parlor car was way too bright, and though the hallway was a bit better, it still wasn't good.
"it's alright," stelle shakes her head, and stands there in the doorway, even as he heads towards his bed and sits down. "i'll ask himeko to check up on you in a bit?" she asks, and he only nods, though he isn't sure if she can actually see it. he doesn't want to talk anymore, he doesn't want to think because even just that seems to make his headache worse, he just wants stelle to leave, he just wants to sleep-- he isn't even sure if he understood her question correctly, but he also doesn't have the energy to care. he falls asleep the moment the door closes behind her, fully clothed and half covered with a thick blanket, but even then he isn't allowed a peaceful rest.
memories from old battles flash before his eyes, silhouettes of enemies he once fought, those against whom he won - but also of those who severly injured or even killed him, and with that come the memories of the pain
and the fear of losing his body again.
when he finally awakens, sweating, shaky for reasons other than his fever, and still feeling pretty awful, it takes him longer than usual to remember where he is. it takes him longer than usual to remember that he's safe.
but now there's medicine and a thermometer on his nightstand, and a note written in himeko's neat handwriting - though he actually spots and reads it some time later - telling him to rest as much as he needs to, because she'll take care of everything; and only after he does read it and feels a sense of relief come over him, he realizes how much the thought of having to leave all the work in order to take a break actually stressed him out. he still feels bad about it, because of course he does, and of course he's going to apologize to everyone later.
but he's also able to sleep more peacefully now.

i think the reason why people don’t like mai for zuko is because zuko is already a very grumpy, angry, pessimistic person and so is mai soo they reasoning is that he needs somebody with a more opposite and optimistic, personality like jin and katara who are more nice and caring than mai idk cause zuko does cheer up a little at the end aand katara is more supporting at the end at least oor that’s what people say idk what do you think? why does zuko chooses mai and not jin or katara? and what do you think of the people who “knows whats best for z ??
Anon, I'm gonna be honest here: the people that genuinely dislike Mai with any kind of bias affecting their judgement are very rare. Anyone who tells you the overwhelming hate she gets, both as Zuko's girlfriend and as her own character, are not 99% the result of zutarians being bitter that she "stole Katara's man" are either lying to you or were lied to.
Mai, alongside Ty Lee, is one of the most chill antagonists of the show. Zuko was far grumpier and MUCH more furious than she ever was. Hell, her main deal is that she is always too chill because she was taught to repress her emotions and not voice her opinions.
THIS is why she is Zuko's true opposite, the yin to his yang. When he is letting his emotions cloud his judgement, she's the voice of reason. And in turn, when she's getting too distant, he makes get out of her shell and connect. They've had their issues, sure, but by the end of the show they were all pretty much fixed.
Also, I would NOT call Zuko a pessimistic character. He has low points and moments of panic, but that boy kept himself mostly sane during three years of exile by holding onto to hope that, maybe, just maybe, this supposedly dead enemy of his nation that had been seen in 100 years was not actually dead, thus his mission wasn't pointless, and he'd have a way home. Just look at how over-confident Zuko is battle and at how many life threatening situations he got himself into because he acted without a plan, assuming that everything would turn out alright somehow. That boy is an optimist. A grumpy, moody, reckless optimist, but still.
Again, that's the kind of situation where he and Mai would ballance each other out. She likes the thrill of these adventures as much he does, but she will NOT act without thinking. Hell, she won't even put up with stuff that is not dangerous but that she considers beaneath her (see her refusing to follow orders in "The Drill").
This is thing that really bothers me about shipping, not just in this fandom: people forget that no one wants to date their clone, but no one wants to date their COMPLETE opposite either. You need common ground.
Katara and Zuko have the same temperament - proud, strong-willed, stubborn, wearing their hearts in their sleeves, and willing to get VERY mean when pissed off (never forget the "The stars look beautiful tonight. Too bad you can't see them, Toph!"). Then being a couple would just BEGGING for them to have some very ugly fights. As for their differences? Like I've said a million times before, their goals in life are so different they wouldn't even live in the same country. How could a romance between EVER work?
Ty Lee's temperament would be a good ballance for Zuko's, but the most common ground they have is they hang out with the same two girls and maaaaybe Zuko believes in auras too since he basically demanded Mai to defend herself when Ty Lee insulted her aura (this is totally not me letting my headcanon of Zuko taking that stuff 100% serious and writting down everything Ty Lee says on the topic cloud my judgement). Other than that, we see that Zuko clearly wants to be Fire Lord, and while Ty Lee just wanted to go back to the circus or travel around with her new friends. We barely get any interaction between them, so acting like there's evidence for her to be his perfect match is quite the stretch.
Same for Jin. They got along well enough on their date, but that was just for short bit of an episode, not even the entire episode itself. That's too little to claim she could be "the one" for him.
With Mai meanwhile, we had a ton of episodes, in which we got to see their relationship's ups and downs, and see that they managed to bounce back from some pretty serious conflicts and still clearly adore each other after it all.
As for Zuko choosing her over any other girl, it's simple. He likes her. He likes her dry/sarcastic humor, how badass she is, how much she enjoys physical affection, how she doesn't put with any bullshit fro anyone (including himself), how she was bold enough to basically tell him, Azula and Ty Lee to fuck off, how pretty she is when she hates the world (unbelievably iconic line) etc.
Mai is Zuko's type of girl, she likes him back, and they are compatible, and thus they ended up together. It's not rocket science.

How about one where Tai tries to tell his girls that he's dating again before they get to Beacon, but he fumbles it so badly with his nerves that he freaks Ruby & Yang out instead.
Ruby is FREAKING OUT thinking her Dad won't let her go to Beacon while Yang is DYING on the inside thinking her Dad needs help giving Ruby "The TALK"....
Taiyang Fumbles
"Hold on, girls! Just a sec!"
"But Daaaaad~!" Ruby whined. "If we don't hurry, we'll miss the bullhead!"
"You can wait just a few minutes." Taiyang said with a roll of his eyes. "There will be other bullheads. Right now, though, I need to explain something to the two of you."
"Can't it wait until we get there," Yang offered, "or maybe on the way?"
"Nope, this is, uh, very important for you both to know. Especially you, Ruby."
"What?!" Ruby balked. "What did I do?"
"Nothing, but..." Taiyang knew he'd have to tell Ruby soon enough, but he didn't think it would be so soon. "See, the thing is, uh, you know how men and women are different, right?"
"Yeah?" Ruby quirked a brow.
"And how, well, sometimes a womman and a man will meet each other and things start going really well, and one thing leads to another, and..."
The sisters began to pale. Taiyang noticed this and flushed in response. He knew this would be a difficult topic, but he had to do this. His daughters deserved to know the truth.
Ruby started getting antsy. Dad was usually good with his words, being a teacher and all, but for some reason he'd get super nervous like this when she walked in on his phone conversations. He'd spend all day on the phone when she wanted to call Uncle Qrow to ask when he'd be home for training. Conversations between father and daughter would slow to a near halt, which means she'd be late for the bullhead! Hurry up, Dad~!
Yang recognized this flavor of nervousness. This was a "grown up talk" as he called it. She'd expected this, but she assumed it would be on her to explain the birds and the sweaty palms to her little sister. She didn't like it, but what else could she do? Still, if this was what had to be done, then she'd be the one to take the lead.
"Dad?" Yang interrupted. "I'll take care of it."
"Huh?"
"I get it. Really, I do, but Ruby's not a little girl anymore." She placed a hand on her sister's shoulder. "So just leave it to me."
"Oh..." Taiyang chuckled. "Yeah, I guess you are my daughter, too. Shoulda known you'd have it all figured out."
"Not all figured out, but I got the basics."
"Well, that's a relief." Taiyang chuckled. "So, how'd you figure out I started dating again?"
"..."
"..."
"...Oh."
"YOU DID WHAT?!" The sisters roared in unison.
---------------------------------------------------
"I won't be arriving for another week. Your failure and incompetence must be resolved by you and you alone. But I'm sure you can handle that, can't you, Roman?" There was a murmur on the other line. "Good. I'm glad we reached an understanding. I'll see you in a week. Ta-ta~."
Cinder placed her scroll in her case and called for a cab. "Take me to the ferry."
"Sure thing." The driver grunted as he tapped into his GPS. Unfortunately, he was a talker. "So, uh, why's ya in Vale?"
"I'm meeting someone." Cinder replied.
She was calm, collected, and always at the top of her game. Her rivals never lasted because she made sure they never started. No one on Remnant had the power to stop her.
"He's only the sweetest man I ever met~!" She gushed. "He's so strong, and kind, and funny, and rugged, and sweet, and..."
The driver rolled up his window as the woman continued to hug herself and gush about her beau in the backseat.

Okay so I just watched Heroes and Huntsman part two and we'll I have opinions. Again. Also This is pretty much composed of a rant I sent to my friends As soon as the credits rolled so I'm sorry if this is a bit everywhere.
Firstly, they fixed the problem with Yangs characterization. Pretty much in volume 8 - 9 maybe even 7-9 it was like the writers forgot that SHE IS RUBY'S SISTER!! Like everyone was so obsessed with the bees that they forgot RUBY TRIED TO OFF HERSELF. Which I know I mentioned on her already but it just bothered me so much. And like in the latest season Ruby was going through her trauma arc and it was like no one gave a shit. Like Yang did not give up her entire childhood to take care of Ruby only to shrug off when she drinks a cup of poison.
And I'm sure there is no way Yang wouldn't go fucking crazy in that scene because (1) THAT'S HER SISTER (2) SHE GAVE HER LIFE TO PROTECT HER (3)SHE'S HAD AN ENTIRE ARC ABOUT HER BEING SCARED HER LOVED ONES WOULD LEAVE HER. And guess what? RUBY WAS READY TO WILLINGLY LEAVE HER. It was like the writers were like "okay so we either have gf Yang or Sister Yang" INSTEAD OF REALIZING THAT THEY ESTABLISHED EARLIER THAT A LOT OF HER FAMILIAL RELATIONSHIPS IMPACTED HER ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS.
But in the new movie we got cute scenes of Yang not knowing how to talk to her little sister to establish how worried she is for her, While also getting scenes of Blake expressing how much she loves her. And even as a bonus we get to see her going back to her original pattern of being the one to take on everyone's problems or to just give a pep talk and listen with her talk with Berry. We finally got to see her not having to give up one part of her for another or ignoring one characteristic to emphasize a different one.
Not to mention Ruby! They characterized her so well in this movie. Like you can tell she's trying so hard for things to go back to notice but she just has so much shit and baggage weighing on her. She claims that she's better yet she running blindly into danger. It's like just because she's no longer actively trying to die (hopefully) she's still not fully sold on living, so instead she's taking down leviathans blindly wailing her scythe around claiming that it's confidence but it's just a death wish. Like I wanna get into her conversation with Clark but real quick one more Yang rant.
There was this scene towards the end of the movie where Yang was finally expressing how much she's worried about Ruby and she's about to start raising her voice when Blake puts a hand on her shoulder to calm her down. LIKE THIS IS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!! SHOW HER AS A CARING SISTER WHILE ALSO ACCEPTING HELP FROM HER GIRLFRIEND!!Back in season 7 Blake was empathizing more with Ruby than her own sister and it just made no sense to me. Okay sorry Back to Ruby so she has this conversation with Clark that is absolutely stunning because I just love their dynamic and the added ability of him being able to understand her pain is just amazing. And he says this one line that's basically like "I try not to dwell on my parents too much because I know that they wouldn't want me to join them too soon" and like I just love that line because it's exactly what she needed to hear and when she promises Yang "I won't be joining anyone too soon" as Clark is watching approving from the side!!!!
Like it's such a simple movie but it's just soo much better than then the volume before in my opinion, and I'm so glad that it wasn’t the last we'd see of the team even if they don't greenlight volume 10. Also the struggles with Whise and Barry was also so good but I'll save that for another day. The only thing I'd say I'm disappointed about is Blake Yang and Diana scenes because in part one they made the absolute entire movie for me. Oh and als GIVE BLAKE HER CAT EARS BACK sorry I just missed them so much throughout the movie 😭😭

“Knowing what it is to feel loved…”
So, I want to preface this by saying some of this is from my own personal experience as well as just kind of what I know from adopted people in general. While not outright stated, Summer Rose basically did adopt her, and the fact he was so young when Summer died, and she found out about Raven are both relevant. Because I feel like if Yang truly knew what it was like to feel loved on a deep, visceral level, she wouldn’t put herself in a position to always sacrifice herself for others. She wouldn’t martyr herself and have someone else feel the pain she has felt by leaving them behind.
The thing is, I don't think people understand how unlovable you can feel when you are adopted. Our society, puts motherhood on such a pedestal (and RWBY not existing in a vacuum we can assume there too), that it is so easy for a child to internalize there is something inherently unlovable about them that would make their own mother give them up. And you can just learn that as a kid even under ideal circumstances where others try to make you feel loved. Had Summer not left, Yang could have possibly lived a happy life without ever knowing Raven didn’t want her. But that’s not what happened. She had two mothers leave her and was left with a dad unable to take care of her and having to step up for her sister. No one ever stays, and Yang has to be the one to pick up the pieces.
When Beacon fell, Blake ran, Weiss’s father came and took her back to Atlas, and Ruby went off on her mission. Her own father says in ear shot he can’t go looking for Ruby because he has “to look after other things” while looking over to Yang’s room. As if she’s in the way of the daughter he really cares about because he out right states she reminds him of Raven. Speaking of, imagine growing up knowing your dad almost resents you for reminding him of the mother who left you, who you’ve been trying desperately to find, only to find out your father knew where she was and was intentionally keeping that information from you. Yang’s feelings of being unloved are so directly tied to being Raven’s daughter, and being forced into a parental role way before she should have been. I also mentioned with Blake in another post, that she did everything “right” with Blake, and she still left without even saying anything. “What if I needed her here for me?” Blake leaving her is just further proof that she must inherently be unlovable and not enough to stick around for.
Yang’s feelings seem so secondary to her that she finally finds Raven to help find Ruby. Yang gets to confront a woman who is nothing like the woman Tai eventually told her about, just for Raven to deflect and not answer the question of why she left. Yang’s feelings truly don’t matter right now because right now this is about getting to Ruby. Never mind, finding her trying to find Raven was how we were introduced to her character (Yellow Trailer). When Yang gets to confront her again, no one around, call Raven out on her shit, all but beg Raven to pick her over power and safety. Beg Raven to be a mother to her and love her, and Raven can’t. We, the audience, can see that Raven is conflicted and loves Yang as much as she can (which Yang can’t see because her back is to her), but it’s truly not good enough. It’s not what Yang needs. Raven might have been able to come up with an excuse before for leaving Yang, but now Raven is actively not picking to her face. Because in the end no one picks Yang.
But Blake did. Blake picked her all the way back in the Emerald Forest, and as far as we know Yang doesn’t know that. We don’t know if Yang knows that Blake ran to keep her safe. Yang doesn’t know Blake wanted her to hate her to further keep her safe. Everything Blake did was for Yang, but Yang doesn’t know that. Yang doesn’t know Blake is doing so well now because of Yang being in her life. Blake is in a perfect position to be there for Yang now and help Yang feel loved. Blake has gone through her journey and processing, and she’s seen and been demonstrated loved through her parents. We can only truly understand love when it’s been demonstrated for us. Yang has never had that, and Blake can be there to focus on her needs and show her what a good partner is like, because she knows what a bad one can be. Blake can take the lead and allow her to feel love in a way neither of them has felt before. It won’t completely fix Yang’s feelings of abandonment, but Blake can be there to help her hold that feeling so it’s not such a heavy burden.

Yujin Drawings! (Plus a ramble)
decided to do some drawings of Yujin!
If you guys don't know Yujin, She's one of my many LMK ocs! Yujin is a Emperess of the Eastern empire in China, a empire that has been standing for generations. All people of any kind stay there. (She's Also PIF biological sister)
Anyway, time to ramble about Yujin's charater-
Tumblr media
Lets start with Yujin herself.
Yujin, in the LMK series, is a person of royalty. She's intelligent, tactical, a person who overworks herself, very much like her sister. However, Yujin is not only intelligent, but she's powerful too.
When Yujin was younger, again, was a Celestial Maiden along with PIF. However, younger Yujin was a confidence and courage fueled girl, leading Yujin doing unspeakable actions without thinking of the consequences.
Due to these actions, Yujin got banished from the Celestial realm. Yeah, it was that bad. When Yujin was stuck down on the mortals plain, she met others who seemed like outcasts. One of these friends were Macaque
Again, back then, Macaque was a much more cautious guy. But this cautiousness rubbed off on Yujin in the best way possible. Yujin's much cautious now.
Anyway, the next topic I'm talking about is femininity, and how I tried to properly add it to Yujin's charater. I'm not a writer, but I want to be a good enough one for my art. So if you feel uncomfortable with this, feel free to pass through this-
Yujin's never really been considered pretty before. But she knows that she is pretty. Yujin likes to dress up, wear make up, shopping etc. But Yujin isn't afraid to get her hands dirty when necessary.
At a certain point in life, while she was still in the Celestial realm, Yujin felt....lost. She saw all the other maidens around her prefect things she never seem to get right. They where all the same, yet so different, to the point Yujin felt outcasted. So what did she do? She started to wear what she wanted.
Yujin wanted to stand out, she wanted to be appreciated and accepted from others including herself, that Yujin started to do reckless actions to be noticed. Of course, it took a lot of time, a lot of talking to others and herself that Yujin realized: the only person who can fully accept you in yourself. So that's what she did.
To when her husband died (that's right, i aint name dropping but design dropping soon-) to when Red Son was born, to deal with that amount of truama on her shoulders, she had to accept that it wasn't her fault.
Overall personality wise, younger Yujin was a hot-headed girl who was competitive, and was a petty loser. But she cared for her the people around her, because those where the only people she felt accepted by. The Yujin now is still hot headed and sometimes stubborn, but her pride has lowered, she's more cautious, but she still loves to have fun.
Now, let's get talking relationships!
First off, Hui Ying!
Tumblr media
Considering Hui Ying is the daughter of one of whom Yujin considers a sworn brother, Yujin treats Hui like her wn daughter.
Yujin sees how smart Hui is, how her determination and ambitious nature makes her have great results, but takes away her early years.
Yujin dosent want to watch Hui just toss her life at endless work, so she encourages hui to go shopping with her, go dancing, go to fast food places, basically outside. Yujin wants Hui to savor in New surroundings and areas, as not everything Hui thinks is actually correct.
Hui Ying sees Yujin as one of the best people in her life, and usually calls her Auntie Yujin. Hui Ying never had healthy female figures in her life, but Yujin changed that. Yujin didn't tell Hui who or what to be. She encouraged Hui to follow hearts desires, but to keep in mind on what her wants.
Tai Yang
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yujin notices that Tai Yang got his dad's friendliness, but also got his mother's craving for destruction or chaos.
Tai Yang is mostly quiet, and can be short tempered, but he's not afraid to grab a deal if it presents himself.
Tai Yang reminds Yujin of when she was younger, a person who's courage and ambitiousness can lead them to recklessness. So, Yujin brings Tai Yang down to earth, telling him it's okay to express himself.
As quiet as Tai is to Yujin, he does care about her a lot. He even calls her Auntie sometimes. Tai is very thankful that someone besdies Hui is trying to see through his eyes, to try to feel how he feels.
Anyway, that's all! Feel free to ask about Yujin, and if you want me to do any other of my ocs, don't be afraid to ask!

Thinking about Yang being like "She could've talked to us" after Yang was the one who told Ruby not to think like Ironwood when Ruby expressed doubt and frustration. Like no I'm not saying Yang's intentions were bad, I think Yang was trying to comfort Ruby, but that coupled with how little effort Yang has put into Ruby and how distracted she's been with Blake and how Yang hasn't been taking the situation they're in seriously...
It's like, yeah Ruby probably really didn't feel like she could talk about regrets, doubts, or struggles when Yang's good vibes only mentality resulted in her basically saying only a bad guy who wants to bomb people would actually feel bad about losing two world-ending relics to Salem instead of convincing themselves they did something they didn't do (save everyone, keep everyone safe.) And Yang really wasn't acting like she cared about what happened, or even really cared about getting back home, or any of that. Yang has spent this whole time treating everything like a fun romp.
So what could Ruby - or us as an audience - think that Yang would say if Ruby had opened up? Would Yang give some generic cheap speech about how Ruby shouldn't doubt herself because she's a good person? Would Yang scold her that they'd done good actually and act like she was unjustified the way she did when Ren talked about his concerns? And remember, this is after Yang kinda blamed Ruby for stuff going wrong with Ironwood too (like Yang and Blake going behind his back to Robyn and seemingly not telling anyone didn't contribute to that falling out more than the lie Ruby had already come clean about did,) and that wasn't really addressed iirc because Yang randomly decided she was in a fight with Blake instead. So how is Ruby supposed to accept an 'we're all fine, turn that frown upside down, you're a good person and that's what matters' mentality after Yang already kinda blamed her for things going wrong like three or four days ago?
It's not Ruby's fault that she couldn't talk to the rest of her team about what happened, not just because they expect her to be perfect but because their toxic positivity outlook is shallow and unhelpful, and Ruby doubting herself got her compared to a villain that nobody gave a damn about. I was a little maddening to see Yang blame Ruby for not talking about her problems when the second Ruby started expressing doubt and frustration, Yang shot her down and essentially said 'don't feel like that, that's for villains.'

Here’s the thing about freezerburn vs bumblebee
I love them both a lot, but I prefer freezerburn. One of the reasons being how they handle conflict.
Yang’s VA said Yang was initially described to her as ‘the kind of person who would teach someone how to swim by pushing them in the water.’ Which I think has proven to be accurate over the course of the show.
This sort of method HAS worked with Blake in the past, such as the Beacon Dance which took their first fight to get her to take a break and relax. But Blake seems to opt for a more gentle approach with problems. For example, while Yang and Blake haven’t really discussed Adam or their separation in much detail, Blake did try to reach out to her at one point. Her soft and careful ‘I’ll protect you’ only pisses Yang off, so she leaves and Blake eventually figures it out for herself.
Here, I think Weiss would stop her. She’d basically demand they communicate, like she did when Blake was overworking herself in early seasons. And, if you also like ladybug like I do, Ruby would have loved Blake getting soft and protective with her, and if she really didn’t, she’d be more willing to sit down and explain it. I could do a whole thing on that tbh.
Anyway where Blake can be made more skittish and careful when conflict arises, which depending on how you look at it either clashes with or compliments Yang’s more direct style, Weiss is much less cryptic. So far, Yang has helped Blake a lot I’d say, reaching out to her and helping her understand what she needs and how they can work together, but I feel like Yang hasn’t gotten much in return. The character development she had was more because of Weiss’ comfort and her father’s training and advice than Blake.
Point being, I think Yang would benefit a lot from Weiss’ more stubborn approach, which would get her out of her shell and emotional walls easier, and Blake might also be better off with the equally determined but more receptive to gentleness Ruby. 🤍💛

The evolution of Ophelia Addams (2)
Ophelia truly “started” for the 60s sitcom “The Addams Family”, that basically invented her from scratch. But she wasn’t yet “Ophelia Addams” - rather she was Ophelia Frump, older sister of Morticia (née Frump). And to highlight their sisterhood, their Yin-Yang relationship, Ophelia was played by none other than Carolyn Jones herself!
Tumblr media
Ophelia was designed to be the complete opposite of Morticia. She is a “flower girl”, but not just in the hippie sense: she is a literal flower girl. Obsessed with flowers, always with a bouquet in her arms, she even has flowers on her head: a crown of daisies, or blooming flowers slipped in her hair. She is blond, and always dress in bright white. She is a happy and smiling woman that plays the harp gently ; always ready to laugh she is also an excellent cook of “traditional” (aka normal human) food. She doesn’t even like poisonous plants like henbane or nightshades, and scoffs at the sight of thorns: rather she only cares for buttercups, daisies and fresh weeds (she concedes that weeds are the most beautiful flowers in her eyes).
While this latter puts her as the “white sheep” of the Addams clan, originally it rather made her Granny Frump’s favorite daughter, much more preferred over the more “bizarre” and “uninteresting” Morticia. In fact, as we discover in the television series, originally Gomez was destined to marry Ophelia. It was an arranged marriage between Gomez’s mother and Granny Frump, and the old Granny couldn’t see a better bride than Ophelia. But Gomez rather liked the carnivorous plants, beheaded dolls and gothic charm of Morticia, which who he rather fell in love (and anyway he couldn’t stand Ophelia - plus he is allergic to flowers).
Tumblr media
Mind you, despite her not fitting the morbid aesthetic of the Addamses, and her mother prefering her flowers over Morticia’s fried eyes of newt, Ophelia stays a Frump (aka almost-Addams), and thus a very bizarre, unusual, “kooky” character. Ophelia is weird and extravagant, but just in a different way than Morticia. Take the flowers on her head for example: they are not just placed there for looking good. They actually grow there! Her hair roots are the flowers’ roots, and when you pull one, she lifts her leg! Ophelia is also noted to be “athletic”, but by athletic understand extremely strong and unusually violent. She breaks dishes trying to wash them, when she wants someone to do something for her she literaly twists their arm, when she plays violin too passionately she ends up SAWING IT IN HALF with the bow... And she is also an expert at karate and judo. So much that she actually judo-flips most of the men she interacts with, either as a form of salutation, or in hope that it could solve whatever problem they have.
She can also sing quite well... but in the most bizarre ways. For example, she can sing a three-part harmony... all on her own. And produce a whole opera chorus with just her throat. Even singing different tones at the same time with the same voice!
Tumblr media
Ophelia was named after the Shakespearian character of Ophelia, from “Hamlet”, THE Ophelia. Of course, the character had to be made of nods and references to the original namesake. On top of the flower obsession, while not exactly crazy, Ophelia is not always... “all-there”. She is both an emotive and superficial girl, a ditzy, scatter-brained girl, fickle and air-headed at the same time. She is the kind of girl that offers to play a game of hide-and-seek, but then tells people where she wants them to hide. She often says out-loud her thoughts or the things she expects people to say, and then sincerely believes they said it : she can have entires one-sided conversations. And, another big nod to Shakespeare, Ophelia is also obsessed with water. She cannot resist the attraction and beauty of a body of water, be it a lake, a puddle or a tub: she always has to jump in it. In fact, her mother says that if she likes to cook so much, it is because she wants to clean a lot of dishes: it gives her an opportunity to stay for a long time in presence of a sink filled with water.
Tumblr media
The other thing Ophelia is known for is her rocky, unsteady love-life. She is a romantic roller-coaster, and the very opposite of Morticia who has a stable, faithful, passionate relationship with her only soulmate. In the first half of the series, Ophelia is seen as the one being fickle when it comes to love : while getting extremely pushy and excited about her arranged wedding with Gomez, she actually admits he has a lot of flaws she dislikes and the minute he says he is “unworthy” of her she completely agrees and elopes with Cousin Itt, her “knight in shining armor” (though it turns out to be a summer romance). A similar case happens later with her new fiancé, Horatio Bartholomew. He is a perfect man; dignified, beautiful, educated, a true gentleman AND the second richest man in the world. At first she head over heels for him and extremely displeased over the fact her mother dislikes him... but the moment she learns he hates yoga, she immediately ditches him and considers him “unworthy” of her love.
But then, in a latter half of the series, the tide turns and instead of her throwing men away, it is her that gets constantly jilted. She ends up abandoned by lovers and boyfriends as many as seven times a year, and while she still is a manic, over-enthusiastic, hyper-happy girl half of the time, the other half she becomes a crying, desperate wreck wailing about her misery and loneliness - and she can easily switches between the two moods on a whim. Ultimately however, she manages to get out of her tumultuous heart troubles by starting a career as an opera singer, thanks to her most unusual voice.

Would love your director's commentary on the Ruby and Blake locker scene in Twilight AU -- particularly why you wanted to use Ruby to triangulate the bees in that moment, the ways Ruby maybe fails her intended mission but doesn't push, and how Blake's psyche filters all of that.
this is more or less a deep cut for me since i forget literally everything the second i post it SDLKJHG but i dug out the outlines and reread the scene and i will do my best. actually here is the paragraph of my outlines pertaining to that scene:
scene where ruby tells blake to be kind to yang. happens in the hall at school, by blake’s locker. blake asks if ruby is going to threaten her, and ruby is of course like no absolutely not. i don’t want to do that, yang wouldn’t want me to do that, and i wouldn’t hurt you anyway as you well know. blake does know. ruby just says that yang is lonely. she has been lonely for a very long time. she was before they were turned, she has been since she transitioned. part of it is the nature of their existence, and part of it is just who yang is. but she’s been better lately, since blake showed up, and ruby would just…like her to keep getting better. ruby says she knows that’s a lot to put on blake, and of course blake isn’t Responsible for it all. ruby just mostly wanted to say that she really likes having blake around, and she knows yang likes it more than she’ll admit—at least to ruby—and she figured blake should know.
so here there is obviously some stuff that did not make it explicitly into the scene but informed my writing of it. "ruby tells blake to be kind to yang" is not dialogue that actually occurs in the fic, but is very much ruby's intention in the conversation—to make sure blake understands the gravity of yang's feelings for her and basically just ask her to be gentle. ruby is the one having this conversation because yang is not in a place in this fic at this point to ask for what she needs herself.
and i just wanted to have a scene stressing the importance of ruby and yang's relationship, and since this fic was pretty tightly planned, and because it felt like true twilight fashion, it made sense to have that scene be bees related in some fashion. since ruby was basically the only person yang had for fifty years, i liked the idea of ruby trying to take care of yang in this arena.
in terms of why ruby leaves things confused, with blake thinking that she has been handed responsibility of yang's happiness in its entirety, behind the scenes it's because ruby doesn't fully understand the significance of yang's eyes. she also doesn't fully understand that, to blake, Everything In The Universe Is Blake's Fault Forever, and that blake is therefore going to spiral about this later.
some of the dialogue mentioned in the outline got assigned to blake instead of ruby in the final draft; that happens all the time because my outlines are usually more melodramatic and about getting the Feeling of the dialogue across than anything. figuring out what actually flows in a scene happens later.
another interesting note is that i open the outline with the setting, which is Not typical of me but is maybe typical of this fic? since it's based on the first twilight movie, which, for whatever else you might say about it, has a very strong sense of place with the trees and the rain and the green-blue coloring. i wrote this fic in general with a lot more attention to that sort of thing than i usually do (as you may notice that all of milf blake au occurs in murkily described apartments and nondescript parks and whatnot). unrelated to your line of questions but i think it's neat.
i honestly don't remember too much else (and some of this is me speculating on past me's intentions) but i hope this was interesting! twilight au my beloved i miss milf vampire raven every day

I think part of the problem is how they seem to interpret media, in that they aren't particularly curious or interested in truly delving into the themes of the story, or would rather impose their own expectations and themes onto the story in the most unambiguous way possible.
The only part of the "story" they consider legitimate is whatever is so blatantly in your face that they can't possibly miss or ignore it, and basically dismiss anything that doesn't explicitly tell them everything. Background details, taking past character motivations and the fact that everyone is an unreliable narrator to varying degrees...
Any oddities in details are not something to provoke them into actually thinking about prior information, but instead "plotholes" because they don't neatly fit into a comfortable narrative. Any dissonance between actions and words is treated as being out of character rather than possibly highlighting hypocrisy and something more nuance and complex.
In essence, they treat RWBY as something that failed to indulge them and their own perceptions of what it "should" be, rather than critically taking a hard look at what it's trying to actually show and tell them.
I also saw a lot of people just making terrible takes about the characters and their motivations purely out of seemingly nowhere, but especially when there was conflict among Team RWBY. Like in the earlier volumes when we don't know Blake is a faunus a lot of people said they hated her and that they didn't like her, and in volume 3 I saw people say she "makes everything about herself" and is just selfish and doesn't "care about team RWBY". Which are all things that I just couldn't agree with especially considering that while Blake doesn't have a lot of songs just for her (because the show is generous and spends so much time with her struggles) I thought her character was really easy to understand.
She's a victim of abuse and has trust issues, and is also a victim of discrimination based on her ethnicity (if thats what you wanna call the faunus I guess), so I thought it made sense for her to be just a bit "cagey" and closed off from the others. It makes her development with Yang and the moments she becomes friends with Sun so much better because we finally see her getting to trust people after leaving Adam behind.
Also in Volume 7 and 8 when people were saying "yang doesn't care about Ruby" because they had ONE disagreement about how to solve what was a pretty difficult situation T_T I don't know how anyone could say that with songs like "Gold" which is literally about how Yang and Ruby are close and how Yang is always there for her. (it even has matronly lyrics like "I will keep you safe and warm/ like the smell of a rose on a summer's day." Which is a direct reference to ruby's actual mother.

There were two feelings roaring through Yang's head, and while putting words to her feelings had never been easy for her, if she had to do it now, the words for the first feeling would probably be: 'Holy shit, this rules SO hard'. Her secondary feeling was more forlorn: 'But it could rule even harder'..
She was sitting next to a fire holding hands with Blake (Holding hands! She could literally just hold Blake now! Whenever she wanted!) and despite the fact that this was the best thing that ever happened to her, she couldn't help but be distracted. Every time she looked at Blake (she could just STARE at Blake whenever she wanted! Girlfriend pass! Girlfriends. Surely this couldn't be legal.) her eyes drifted over to Ruby, who was looking at Crescent Rose's box like it might eat her. This wasn't right. Her sister wasn't supposed to be like this. She wanted Ruby to be doing... something. Babbling about how she was so excited for her, giving her a knowing smirk or wink, something. She was a full grown woman, she knew that she didn't need her sister's love and support at all times, but she still really wanted it, and it was weird that-
"Worried, huh?" Blake asked.
Yang immediately snapped her eyes back to Blake. "Hah! Worried about this... being a dream, maybe! Cuz you're so dreamy!" Nailed it. Again.
Blake's eyes softened. "Yang."
"Alright, fine! It's just... I want to be so happy about you and me, and- y'know- us, but it's just, Ruby is so-"
"And you can't help but feel bad that you can't help but feel bad, even when you're happy," Blake finished.
Yang nodded her head eagerly. Gods, she was so perfect. "Never feel bad about caring for your sister, even now. In fact, the fact that she's always on your mind is-" Blake pantomimed taking a step. "One of the things I love about you."
Yang beamed. "I didn't think pantomime would be a thing in our relationship, but it OBJECTively WORKs for me."
Blake giggled (she did that! She made her laugh!) "That was atrocious. Clearly you need a breather, go talk with your sister."
Yang nodded again and got up. She wanted to be happy and she wanted her sister to be happy, and she would make it happen, so that she could dive right into being completely happy about Blake, which would rule SO insanely hard.
"Ruby, let's go outside. We need to talk about our periods," Yang announced.
That got more than a few looks, but most importantly, it got Ruby to smile a little. "It's not like Dad's here, Yang. You could just say you want to talk in private."
"Yeah, but Jaune's got the depression beard and air of general sadness, so he's basically Dad."
"Missed you too, Yang," Jaune remarked.
"Oh, it was said with love, Vomit Man," Yang replied, lifting Ruby up by her arm. "Now c'mon, sister time."
As Yang left for outside with Ruby, the half of her that was still honed in on Blake (her girlfriend!) heard her and Weiss chatting.
"Obviously I'm happy for the two of you. Finally, an end to all the gag-worthy mooning and pining."
"Wow, flirting makes you gag, Weiss? Maybe you should be like Jaune, be a bit more mature about this sort-"
"I will fucking END you, Belladonna."
Yang snorted to herself while Ruby just looked at her confused. Oof, she really was in her own head.
They turned the corner and sat down on Jaune's firewood pile. Ruby just sort of stared at her while Yang mulled over what she was going to say. She only just now realized she didn't actually know what to say. This wasn't a problem her little sister was having, it was a problem a world-saving Huntress was having. How do you even handle something on that scope? After thinking on it for a solid minute, (while at the same time being unnerved that Ruby was letting the silence span a whole minute) Yang thought she had her angle.
"So..." Ruby ventured finally. "You and Blake, huh?"
"Ruby, you don't need to try and talk to me about Blake. I know you don't want to right now."
"What? No, of course I'm happy for you-"
"You're not. Not right now, at least. And that's fine," Yang insisted, cupping her sister's face in her hands. "Do you know why it's fine?"
Ruby stared at her in silence. Yang could practically feel her desperation for some sisterly advice. Well, too bad.
"It's fine because Ruby, I am over the fucking moon right now."
"I- what?"
"I am stoked. Thrilled. De-fucking-lighted. Our world's on fire and maybe we're trapped in this one, but it doesn't matter because I made out with Remnant's Hottest today."
"Well that's... great," Ruby said, wriggling her face out of Yang's hold, clearly annoyed.
"Yes. It is great. Because you did it. Sister of the year. Ultimate wingwoman. Literally wouldn't have happened without you."
"I mean, I think Blake would've eventually made a move, probably?" Ruby offered.
Yang both loved and hated that Ruby knew she wouldn't have been the first to break the ice. "Probably," she agreed. "But she didn't have to, because your leadership led us to a place that made us get together. I'm serious, Rubes, the punderstorm gave us mood lighting. It was insane."
Ruby immediately curled up on herself. "Well, that makes one person my leadership has helped..." she grumbled
"Well, I hope two," Yang reasoned. "It would be a bummer if Blake just wished this didn't happen."
"OK but I'm sure the entire city of Atlas would-"
"And I'm not talking about Atlas," Yang interrupted. "I'm talking about me. Look, Ruby, I'm not... no, I'm always going to be your big sister, but that's... I can't always be your big sister anymore, you get me?"
"Not at all."
Yang scratched her head. "Right, yeah, didn't make sense to me either. It's like... you've outgrown me, I guess? You're the leader, you're the shotcaller, I can't offer you advice on the shit you have to do, because the things you have to do are just so... wildly beyond me. Like, I know you want some wisdom on how to save the world, but I can't offer that, because I'm too busy getting laid… Please don’t tell Blake I said that."
Ruby smirked, and for a brief second, Yang had her little sister back. "No promises."
Yang jostled her, trying to eke out a giggle. "Oh, c'mon, I literally JUST got her! Be merciful, oh great leader! You're holding years of silent effort in your hands."
And just like that, the idea of even imaginary responsibility shut Ruby down again. Shit, alright, she had to double down.
"Hey, Ruby, look at me," Yang intoned. "I can't speak for Atlas, I can't speak for the world, but I can speak for me. The person you are, the decisions you've made, my life is objectively better off for them. I am happy. I know you've got the weight of the world on your shoulders, and I can't shoulder it for you, but I can tell you that you don't have to carry mine. I'm good, you did it."
Ruby leaned back, pressing her head against Jaune's wall and took a long, deep breath. "That's a relief to hear," Ruby muttered, before turning to look at Yang with a smile. "You were just so fat, it was exhausting."
Yang immediately put Ruby in a headlock and started noogieing her. "I take it all back," she said, thrilled to hear a pearl of laughter from Ruby. "You're a little gremlin of a sister and I hope something comes around and eats you."
After a moment, Ruby started swatting her leg, so Yang let her go.
"But yeah, I just wanted to say, mission accomplished, Rubes. You made my life kick ass. So not to worry.Just focus on yourself right now.”
“I am focusing on myself,” Ruby grumbled. “The problem is ‘myself’ is a miserable failure, and I can’t justify being happy when I’m… that.”
“Hmm… have you tried making out with Weiss? Macking with my partner did wonders for me.”
“Yang!”
“Right, sorry, look, I get what you’re saying. The world is so crazy right now, it feels hard to be happy. But if there’s one thing I’ve come to accept,” Yang said, staring down at her right arm. “It’s that nobody deserves anything. I don’t deserve to be happy, you don’t deserve to be unhappy. We get what we get. And if we like it, great! If not…” She shifted her arm, examining the paint job. “We keep getting stuff until we like what we have.”
“And what if there’s no more good stuff to get?”
“There’s always going to be good stuff, Rubes. I genuinely don’t think Weiss would even say no-”
“Not that.”
“But a little bit that. We’re all still alive, are you saying that Team WBY isn’t a good thing?”
Ruby wrinkled her nose. “Weird way to say it, but I mean… yes, you guys are good.”
“And you have us, always and forever!”
“Until the apocalypse comes, any day now.”
“Sure, but you’ll be dead too then, so who cares?”
Ruby stared up into the starless sky and sighed. “This is a terrible pep talk.”
Yang joined her in her looking. What had been a creepy black expanse just the day before didn’t even bother her now. “I don’t think it’s too bad, all things considered.”
“Hm, yeah, all things considered, guess not.”
Yang reached over and ruffled Ruby’s hair. Her hand couldn’t feel her hair like it used to, but the gesture carried the love she wanted it to all the same. They sat together in a bit more silence. Yang glanced over at her sister, eyes in the sky and far beyond it, trying to piece together how to carry the whole world or die trying. She really wasn’t little baby Rubes anymore.
“Alright, that’s enough considering for me,” Yang declared, getting up. “And I’m going to go inside and start getting some happiness. Care to join me?”
“I… want to be alone for a little bit,” Ruby said. But then she broke her gaze from the sky and looked at Yang. “But I’ll try and join you as soon as I can, big sis. Love you.”
Yang beamed at her sister.
“All I’ve ever wanted to hear.”

You know I had high hopes for Blacksun.
Since Volume 1, we saw Sun's character. He saw through Blake's disguise he waited for two days, not saying anything until she was ready to talk. He helped her out with the White Fang. He introduced her to his friends, that she knows that Neptune is afraid of the water. He told Neptune what he likes about her.
He helped her when she needed it (even if she didn't ask for it) he found out more about her background then her whole team did. Inspired her to change her tactics on how to approach her past, at she got enough confidence to face someone she feared by herself.
A key moment for them is that when she told Sun to be careful, he said, "No Promises." In my mind, it shows that unlike everyone else, she's made a promise to. He doesn't want to make her feel obligated to him because he values her independence above all. Even in the end, when they sperated, he decided to give her space to work things out because that what she needed despite how he feels about her. Which shows Sun's growth as a person. Looking at all of that, these two have had a personal and deeper connection than anyone they've had in the series, and being a Faunus had nothing to do with it.
When it comes to Yang, she helped Blake go to a dance. Blake leaves knowing about Yang's abandonment issues. And when she comes back she tries to fix the strained relationship. And when she tries to help from the lesson she learned and Yang responds with be passive aggressive and learns the lesson with no scene. Uses a threat when someone suggests they work with other people (if one of them was a male, you'd think that was a toxic move to use). And after they destroyed a content ND relocated people and lost a friend they tried desperately to save. All they could think about is their relationship in a place that basically forced them to confess. And when Yang is given the chance to explain why she likes her, it is probably the most shallow and out of nowhere confession I've ever heard. That the only reason Blake accepts it is because she's wearing rose colored glasses, love is deaf, or she feels obligated to be there for her.
Even if tooth ofvthem are Faunus, Sun took an interest in what Blake is fighting for and is willing to help her not just to get points with her, but because it's the right thing to do. While I'm pretty sure Yang has never once mentioned or talked about Blake's interest. Sun has even made a bigger impact in Blake's life than Yang ever has or will. For Sun, he supports Blake while Yang has been holding her back just for her. And haven't you noticed that Blake can repremend Sun for his action, but Blake can't do the same for Yang?
In a sense of long term Sun and Blake have a goal. For Balke and Yang they want two completely different things. And personally I think Sun can carry Blake's burdens while Yang either ignores it or just tosses it aside.
EXACTLYYYYYY!!!!
Sun UNDERSTANDS Blake and takes the fucking time to talk to her about her issues and gives her solutions to confront them, Yang hasn't done shit and is literally just Adam 2.0 when it comes to being a "love interest" for her.
Actually no, Yang doesn't even fucking deserve that, she's a dogshit choice for Blake.
Black Sun will always reign superior to Bumblebullshit and the Wasps can cope.
