A couple of Hornet Mimic hoverflies seen at my local Lakeside, then I saw the real thing with a hornet there, then I saw Hornet Mimic hoverfly and I believe hornet at Brownsea Island too
Some of my favourite memories from patch wildlife watching at Lakeside Country Park this year in the fascinating world of kingdoms of species I am less familiar with and a day somewhere else with them too, giving me that lovely feeling of learning things new a good theme of my year. Another good year of seeing Swollen-thighed beetle, Common Red Soldier beetle and Cantharis Rustica soldier beetle

Hamish the polar bear tries out his new enclosure at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park at Branton, Doncaster, after moving from the Highland Wildlife Park in Scotland. At three years old, he has reached the age when he would leave his mother and venture into adulthood. He was the first polar bear to be born in the UK
