Moonlit Butterfly
After the war Yosano was sent to a military hospital as a patient. She was torn away from Atsushi, who was taken away by Fukuchi and sent back to the government's labs.
The staff treated her horribly, like she was some kind of monster. None of them were equipped to deal with a child, especially not a traumatised one.
And even if they did... None of them wanted her there but were ordered to keep her here.
Given Yosano wasn't physically unwell nor injured, they just kept her isolated in her assigned room.
They would whisper about the stories they'd heard. About the many she'd killed, wondering how a monster like her was allowed to survive.
And among all of that, the staff tried to convince her that Atsushi and Shunzen did not exist.
There was no record of Atsushi in the milataries records and they would taunt her with it as proof.
Telling they were simply figments of her broken mind and that she needed to grow up. Yosano refused to believe such a thing and would scream insults at them.
For even daring to say her brothers weren't real.
That's why it's so important that when Ranpo and her meet, he gives her the butterfly Shunzen made for her. And Atsushi's dog tags.
After so long being told they weren't real, Ranpo gave her physical proof that she was right. That they existed and had cared for her so much.
Shunzen was gone but Atsushi was still out there. And Ranpo told Yosano not to worry, that he would find him.
After all, no one could stay hidden from the world's greatest detective.

I don't care about anything I just desperately need more Yosano focus. She's one of the core members of the ADA and yet we know so little about her - she's gotten like one major fight scene despite basically being unkillable and the ultimate 'ha! not dead!' deux ex machina. If Asagiri utilized her more she could be such a fucking fascinating character - she's got parallels with Dazai, Chuuya, Atsushi, Kyouka, is probably Ranpo's best friend and what kicked off his character arc, Fukuzawa has been raising her since she was a teenager as well. All she's had is her conflict with Tachihara which hasn't even been resolved like??
I don't care if it's via Light Novel, via Dazai finally fucking reuniting with the ADA so we get more focus on them, whatever. I want more Yosano PLEASE. She's such an interesting character if Asagiri looked away from Fyodor's 5D chess games for 2 seconds she would take over the narrative.

Atsushi: The tiger craves meat.
Yosano, grabbing Junnichiro: I can help with that

it's always so fascinating and heartbreaking when a character in a story is simultaneously idolized and abused. a chosen prophet destined for martyrdom. a child prodigy forced to grow up too fast. a powerful warrior raised as nothing but a weapon. there's just something so uniquely messed up about singing someone's praises whilst destroying them.
