So, for the infinity stone AU, how about just everyone recounting their adventure and everyone just being baffled on the ridiculous stuff they've been through. Also, technically, Arc V Yu boys did technically pulled a Thanos on the dimension.
We Had To Get Spiderman to Judge This One
Peter loved hanging out at the Avengers Tower nowadays. Ever since Judai and his group showed up, he finally had some other superpower kids his age to talk to. Ned was great and all but there were some topics of the superhero life he couldn’t understand. Judai and the others always lent an ear about the more stressful parts of world saving and in turn shared some of their experiences which led to his question that had been on his mind.
“So what is the craziest thing that happened to you guys?”
Everyone paused whatever they were doing as mulled over this question.
“Are we counting time travel as crazy?” Judai asked.
“If you are asking about the time we dealt with Paradox I think we can file that under normal by now.” Yugi said, “Time travel really isn’t surprising anymore.”
“Never thought I would hear that sentence….” Yusaku muttered.
“If time travel isn’t surprising, what do you consider weird?” Peter asked.
“Well there was that one time a cult obsessed with the color white took over my school by brainwashing people.” Judai nonchalantly said, “And a falling satellite got involved at one point...but I think the kid we found living in the jungle was only slightly more bizarre since we were on an island and could have returned to civilization at any time.”
“How’s a feral kid more crazy than a cult?!” Peter asked in disbelief.
“It was the third weird student I met that week alone….” Judai shrugged, “Wondered what happened to him when the school got teleported to another dimension?”
“That happened to you too?” Yuya asked.
“First time accidentally, second time on purpose.”
“Why were there two occasions?!” Peter exclaimed.
“I wonder how Kaiba is going to feel about this when tell him about what happened to his school…..” Yugi wondered.
“Honestly no one knows…” Yusei said, “Our history books really don’t indicate any drastic action on his part...other than investing in better security and moving the campus to the mainland.”
“Nothing like that happened to me…” Yuma stretched in his seat, “Though we did take the Key Ship on a world tour to investigate mysterious ruins. Surprised that school didn’t notice us missing from class…”
“I really could use something like that.” Peter said, “I’m running out of excuses to give my teachers to leave class.”
“I just skipped school….” Yusaku admitted from his corner, “I was ahead of the material anyway and I could always hack the attendance records if numbers got too high.”
“I can’t decide if that is brilliant or irresponsible…..” Yusei muttered, “Then again I never went to school myself and had to teach myself living on the streets.”
“Never thought of you as a street kid.” Yuya said.
“I used to be in a street gang with my friends.”
Yugi choked on his drink, “Sorry...I never would have pictured you as a gangster.”
“In my defense….I wasn’t the one who came up with the idea.” Yusei explained, “My friend Kiryu was the one who put it together as he wanted to make the streets of Satellite safer for younger children.”
“At least you guys had good intentions…” Peter said.
Yusei just quietly sipped his drink as he decided against mentioning the Earthbound Gods.
Peter then turned to Yugi, “Got any stories to share? Because I think the white obsessed cult is winning so far.”
Yugi thought to himself for a very long time. As if he was trying to think of the most child friendly tale to share. Then he spoke…
“There was a time where we had to deal with the remnants of the last city of Atlantis. It turns out that their king was possessed by an ancient force that compelled him to steal souls to revive its god. Its followers carried part of its power in a field spell card that took the loser’s soul at the end of the duel. Not to mention it was rather overpowered for the user game wise. We had to travel to America then ran all over the country trying to track them down. That was all before the giant battle in the sky in the middle of the ocean against a giant serpent. Not to mention that we almost got eaten by osmosis.”
Silence descended over the group.
“Yeah I think he wins this one…” Peter eventually said.
“Somehow that makes interdimensional war sound ordinary….” Yuya shook his head and sighed.

Revoween day 1 drabble!
I don't have time to write full oneshots for @week-of-revo but I really want to participate, so here's a drabble based off the costume I (and Anzu) would die to see Atem wearing!
Whatever it was that Jonouchi was rambling about, it went in one ear and out the other. For about the tenth time, Anzu found herself wringing the velvety layer of her skirt as she scanned the crowd for him. She new she would be able to spot his hair, even through the throng of party goers, but he and Yugi we're no where in site. In actuality, they really weren't that late, so she shouldn't feel this in edge.
Of course, it wasn't the time that had her nervous, it was the anticipation.
Finally though, she was snapped out of her daze by fingers snapping in front of her face.
"Helloooo? Are you even listening?"
Anzu blinked and finally looked round at her friend, who was quite annoyed with her.
"Sorry, Jou, what were you saying?"
The blond nearly lost the furry wolf ears atop his head as he shook his head and rolled his eyes. "Nevermind. But know that you're actually paying attention, I didn't scratch off the paint on my nose, did I?"
Anzu couldn't help but smile, the costume Jonouchi had worn to the party was really well done, considering he made it himself. A flannel with fur peaking through the tears, make up that gave the vague impression of a canine snout, yes, Jou made a very good wolf man.
"No, your make up still looks great," she winked, and her friend beamed with pride.
Actually both their home made outfits looked good, and she was quite proud of her costume. A layered skirt with potions and a spell book hanging from the belt, a lace-up corset top, lantern sleeved blouse, all topped off with a velvet pointed hat. She made a cute witch, if she did say so herself.
She was about to say something else, but Honda's voice, muffled through his cyberpunk mask, cut her off. "Ah, there's the rest of our group!"
The way her head snapped to the door with lightning speed should have been embarrassing, or at least painful, but upon seeing the boys, she couldn't seem to notice either.
Yugi was waving at them as he and Atem made their way through the crowd to where they stood at the snack table. He was barely recognizable under the perfectly done skeleton make up, but the was unmistakably Yugi, especially as they finally came within arms length.
Though, as great as her best friend looked, Anzu could not help but stare wide eyed at Atem.
He looked like he stepped right out of the pages of an Anne Rice novel. Tall lace-up riding boots, with pleated pants tucked into them shaped his legs nicely. A double breasted maroon coat clung to his body, and the ruffled cuffs draped on his wrists reminded her of the covers of historic romances. Best of all, his white shirt was unbuttoned quite a bit to show off the fake blood dripping, somehow gracefully, down from his red lips.
Those lips were smiling at her, and her face was boiling under the charming smirk. From head to toe, he exuded the sensual, commanding allure of the creature he had chosen.
Oh yes, Atem made a perfect vampire.
Anzu hardly noticed that Honda and Jou had dragged Yugi over to the tombstone brownies at the snack table, especially when Atem closed the distance between them.
"You look exquisite," he whispered under the spooky music, and she saw that he had not forgotten the fangs. He made a small show of looking her up and down as he held out his arm to her. "Might I say, you've bewitched me, even."
A laugh left her throat, thankfully less nervous sounding than she thought it would be, and she took his arm. Atem always loved his puns. "Thank you, my count. I think I should offer you some wine, before my neck starts looking too good."
His fangs flashed as he hummed, and kept his eyes on said neck. Her skin was heating up again under the gaze.
"I think it's too late for that, my dear."
Oh Lord, she had no idea how she was going to survive the night.

6 Months Ago…
“We have a problem.”
Hanako sighed and rubbed his temples. “What is it now, Tsuchigomori?” Being king of the Underworld there always seemed to something going wrong. Most recently it had been King Minamoto cutting their funding. Hanako huffed. The other deities didn’t think his work was important—or maybe some of them wanted a whole slew of hauntings or a zombie apocalypse as a way to cure their boredom. Hanako couldn’t be sure, but he got the feeling that it might be personal. After all, he wasn’t particularly well liked by the other gods and goddesses and King Minamoto himself most of all. Rather than start an all-out feud, Tsuchigomori had suggested they open up tours of the Underworld to all the other deities to show them the important work they did there and maybe they would petition King Minamoto for proper funding on their behalf—or at the very least their entrance fees could help to offset some of the funding deficit. Hanako already regretted it and had a feeling he would regret it even more as soon as Tsuchigomori explained what exactly the trouble was.
“It seems someone has eaten one of our pomegranates.”
Hanako blinked at him. “What?”
“A girl—a lesser deity of some sort—she has eaten one of our pomegranates. Apparently she was stopped before she ate the whole thing so she isn’t completely ‘dead’ per se, but…”
“But?” Hanako interrupted with a huff.
Tsuchigomori adjusted his glasses. “But she’s still going to be stuck down here, I’m afraid.”
Hanako sighed. He knew this but had still been hoping for a different outcome. “Where in the world was the tour guide?”
Tsuchigomori shrugged his shoulders. “I’m sure he was somewhere…”
Natsuhiko was good for very little if anything. Hanako should’ve known better than to put him in charge of giving tours, but he figured even that moron couldn’t manage to mess up something so simple as showing people around. Clearly he had been wrong.
“Fire him and get someone else.” Hanako shook his head. “And bring the girl in here, I guess.”
Tsuchigomori nodded solemnly before excusing himself, and within minutes, he returned accompanied by a confused girl with long hair.
“Oh wow!” she exclaimed with wide eyes. “This really is some tour if I get to meet the king of the Underworld.” She bowed quickly but respectfully. “Hello Your Highness. I’m Nene.”
Hanako’s jaw fell slack and he blinked at her dumbfounded. His brow furrowed. “Do you have any idea why you’re here?”
“Well…my friend Aoi heard that you were giving tours of the Underworld and thought it might be fun and…”
“No,” Hanako interrupted and corrected. “Why you’re being brought here to see me…”
Nene tilted her head. “Is this not part of the tour?”
“No, it’s not part of the tour.” Hanako huffed. “You’ve eaten some of our pomegranates.”
Nene shuffled her feet as a faint tint of pink flushed in her cheeks. “Well…only half of one,” she insisted pulling the other half out of her pocket.
“These are Underworld pomegranates—if you eat them you will die and be stuck down here forever. Didn’t the tour guide tell you that?”
Nene hummed thoughtfully. “Maybe…I don’t know, but he did tell us that they’re magical pomegranates and the people who eat them have their dream come true and my dream is to find true love.”
Hanako pressed his hand to his forehead with a weary, disbelieving shake of his head. Not only did this girl have no impulse control but she was also completely stupid.
“Remind me to fire Natsuhiko,” he muttered under his breath to Tsuchigomori before he turned back to Nene. “Good luck with that seeing as you’re going to be stuck in the Underworld now.”
“But I’m a deity—only a small one of horticulture, but I still can’t die.”
“You can if you eat the food of the Underworld. I don’t—” He stopped abruptly as he watched the tears well up in Nene’s eyes.
“But…but I can’t die. I haven’t even been kissed yet. Can you imagine anything worse than dying before you’ve been kissed?”
“Yes,” huffed Hanako, but Nene just cried harder.
“Please, please King Hanako, do something!”
“There’s nothing I can do,” he insisted.
“But you’re the king of the Underworld. Surely there’s something…” As Nene’s voice trailed, she stared up at him with wide, pleading eyes, and Hanako’s cheeks grew warm. He bristled but conceded with a sigh.
“Alright…There might be something. Give me the other half of the pomegranate.”
Sniffling, Nene did as she was told and handed him the pomegranate half. She audibly gasped when he ate the other half himself. Even the usually emotionless Tsuchigomori’s eyebrow twitched.
“Sire…” he muttered through his teeth, but Hanako ignored him.
“There. Now you’re only half-affected.”
Nene’s brow furrowed, and she tilted her head at him in misty-eyed confusion. “I don’t understand…”
“You only ate half the pomegranate, and I ate the other half so you’ll only have to spend half of the year here with me.”
Nene wiped her eyes, but she blinked at him in disbelief. “Really?” she choked.
Hanako nodded. “Yes, in six months from now you’ll get to go back to the surface.”
“Thank you! Thank you so much, Your Highness!” she exclaimed as a smile spread between her cheeks. Hanako’s face flushed again, but he frowned as he heard Tsuchigomori clear his throat pointedly.
“Oh right…” he added somewhat dismissively. “There’s something else. You’re…uh…kind of Queen of the Underworld now.”
Nene stopped abruptly and her eyes widened. “What?”
“Yeah, when the pomegranates are shared between two people they’re kind of eternally bonded together or whatever.” Hanako waved his hand dismissively and shrugged it off. “But don’t worry about it. It’s no big deal. I don’t really want a queen, but I could use some help around here given that our funding has been cut so if you just help me out with some housekeeping things we can call it even, okay? Deal?”
Hanako held out his hands to her, and Nene blinked at him before she took his hands. Hanako smiled, and Nene swallowed hard but nodded in agreement albeit a bit unsurely. “Deal.”
5 Months Ago…
Surprisingly enough, the citizens of the Underworld took to their new queen immediately. Within weeks she had hoards of Mokke following her around like little ducks, and the mermaids in the river of the dead had composed several, somewhat haunting ballads about her. Even Yako who usually didn’t take to new people warmed up to her after a month had passed and had lots of fun dressing her up in lavish gowns and extravagant hair styles. Hanako supposed Nene just had that effect on people—she was bright, bubbly, and cheerful like a little ray of sunshine in their otherwise dark and depressing land of the dead.
She was also a hard-worker and had been a great help in cleaning things up and keeping things running on the shoestring budget King Minamoto had recently given them, and, Hanako supposed, Tsuchigomori was right that her efforts deserved to be rewarded so he called her into the throne room for an audience.
“You called for me, Your Highness?” asked Nene with a polite bow.
“You can call me Hanako if you’d like. You are the queen after all.”
Nene nodded. “Right, yes. Did you need something, Hanako?”
“Tsuchigomori has recently sent me the report from the last couple of months and it seems things are running much more efficiently, and everyone is much happier with you here.”
Nene smiled with pink cheeks. “Really?”
Hanako cleared his throat. “Well maybe not everyone. King Minamoto—”
“King Minamoto is worried about me?” gasped Nene with a bright beaming smile, and Hanako rolled his eyes.
“No, but his brother is. He has been writing me asking me to let you return to the surface with the other deities even though I’ve explained that I can’t do that for another four months.”
“I didn’t know King Minamoto had a brother…” she tilted her head in confusion.
“Well, he does apparently, and he’s worried about you. You should look him up when you get out of here.”
“I guess...” Nene sighed with a shrug of her shoulders. “Is that what you wanted to talk to me about?”
“Not exactly. I…” He cleared his throat. “I wanted to make sure you were comfortable and happy here…or at least as happy as you could be.”
Nene’s smile brightened. “Oh that’s so nice! It’s nice here and everyone is really friendly, but I do miss my garden.”
“Your garden?”
Nodding, Nene hummed thoughtfully. “I’m the goddess of horticulture, remember? Up on the surface I had a beautiful garden full of plants and flowers even some berries and vegetables too, but it’s always so dark here, I can’t get anything to grow—well…besides your pomegranate orchard, which is great, of course, just…”—she sighed—”I miss my flowers and vegetables too.”
“I see…” sighed Hanako. “Well…I’m not sure there is much I can do about that. It’s the Underworld so it’s supposed to be dark here.”
Nene’s face fell, but she nodded. “I understand.”
“I guess I could write to King Minamoto and ask if we could put in a skylight or something.” Hanako shook his head slightly. “But I’ve asked him before, and he said no so…”
“You asked before?” she interrupted with a curious tilt of her head. “Did you want a garden?”
“No,” Hanako replied with a shrug of his shoulders, regretting having said too much already. “It’s honestly kind of stupid, but when I was first put in charge of things around here, I really wanted to see the moon. No funny business or anything, just wanted to put in a skylight so I could see it every now and again or at least could see the moonlight.”
Nene frowned. “You’re not one of those men obsessed with the moon goddess are you? Sure, she’s very pretty, but she’s kind of overrated. And I’ve heard she hates men so…”
Hanako laughed and playfully rolled his eyes. Natsuhiko was one such man, and he was particularly annoying about it—though, Hanako supposed, he was particularly annoying about most things. “No. It has nothing to do with her. It just gets so dark down here, and I figured I’ve been down here so long that my eyes wouldn’t adjust to the sunlight but maybe moonlight…” His voice trailed. “Never mind.”
“Well maybe if I write to King Minamoto’s brother, he could help us get a skylight and then I could get my garden and you could see the moon.”
Hanako shrugged. “Sure. Knock yourself out, but King Minamoto hates me so I doubt even his brother will be able to persuade him to do me a favor.”
4 Months Ago…
Hanako had quickly been proven wrong. After Nene had written to King Minamoto’s brother, Prince Kou, about their dilemma and wish for a skylight, he had personally petitioned the king to get one installed. Within weeks, they had a small skylight overlooking a clearing near the River of the Dead, and Nene immediately set to work planting all manner of flowers and vegetables in her garden which seemed to spring to life almost overnight. Though Hanako would never admit it, it warmed his heart to see her so happy. Her face practically beamed any time she mentioned it, and she thanked him profusely for letting her have her own part of the Underworld to grow things in. She spent hours in that garden, and one evening when Hanako was fast asleep she burst into his room shaking him awake with an excited, “Hanako! Hanako! Wake up!”
Hanako rubbed his eyes sleepily, mumbling something vaguely incoherent about leaving him alone to rest, but Nene continued shaking his shoulders. “Wake up! You need to come see this!”
“Alright. Alright,” he finally conceded with a yawn as he grabbed his robe and followed her out into her garden.
She practically bounced as she led him directly under the skylight with a triumphant, “Look!”
Hanako rubbed his eyes. Maybe he was just exhausted but he didn’t have the slightest idea what he was supposed to be looking at.
“You can see the moon!” she explained, and Hanako’s eyes widened as he gazed up through the skylight to the moon outside. It was bright and shimmery surrounded by a sky full of stars as moonlight shone through the skylight’s glass. Hanako stopped in his tracks, and his eyes began to feel misty. He turned to Nene whose entire face was beaming and bright with the biggest smile he had ever seen.
“Isn’t it beautiful, Hanako?” she asked with a bubbly excitement, and he mumbled almost in spite of himself.
“Yes, beautiful…” Though he wasn’t looking at the moon.
3 Months Ago…
It quickly became a sort of tradition for them on nights when the moon was out, they would work side by side for hours in her garden talking and laughing about the most random, everyday things. Though they spent time together throughout the day, it was mostly business, related to running their Underworld Kingdom. They frequently shared dinner together, but they never talked with each other as freely and openly as they did in Nene’s garden. It was only there that he truly learned about her—her hopes, her dreams, her many failed attempts to find love and her firmly held belief that her soulmate was still waiting out there for her.
“What are your dreams, Hanako?” she asked one evening after talking about her own.
“What do you mean?” Hanako replied with a tilt of his head.
“You know besides seeing the moon… Do you have other dreams? Other things you’d like to do?”
Hanako shrugged. “Not really. As an immortal being, things get kind of old—especially when you’ve been stuck in the Underworld for as long as I have. It’s hard to believe there’s new and exciting things out there, you know?”
“I’m kind of new and exciting though, right?”
Hanako blinked at her, but his mouth curved into a playful lopsided grin. “Annoying is more like it.”
Nene pouted teasingly, and Hanako laughed at her playful huffiness. “Oh come on. Surely you have something you want or something you want to do.”
“Nope,” Hanako quipped with a cheeky smile, but it was a lie. He had a wish—a wish for more days with Nene just like this one, but he didn’t see the point in wishing for things that would never come true.
2 Months Ago…
As much as Hanako hated to admit it, slowly, but surely she wore him down with her complaints that he knew everything about her, but she knew next to nothing about him. Hanako insisted, somewhat cheekily, that that was only because she didn’t know when to keep her mouth shut and talked constantly, but he still found himself slowly opening up to her. The words seemed to tumble out of his mouth before he could stop them and despite his best attempts to stay guarded, it wasn’t long before Nene knew things about him that he had never told anyone: his regrets, his fears, those burdens that he denied even to himself.
“I didn’t know you had a brother…” she had said when he had finally told her about Tsukasa and his life before he had become King Hanako of the Underworld when he had just been Amane, a run-of-the-mill lesser deity who loved his family and wanted to visit the palace of the moon.
“Not many people do, I think,” he sighed. “He got mixed up in something really dark—tried to end the mortals’ world…King Minamoto has him locked up somewhere, and I”—his voice hitched—“I helped put him there.”
Nene’s eyes widened, and Hanako turned away from her abruptly. “It needed to be done, of course, but I…I still…” He swallowed hard but muttered, “Never mind.” He took a deep breath and shook his head. “I could tell King Minamoto didn’t trust me either, but he made me king of the Underworld after that and I haven’t been up to the surface since, which is just as well, I guess. I—”
He stopped abruptly as Nene wrapped her arms around his shoulders and hugged him tightly. “I’m sorry.”
“Knock…knock that off…” he muttered as his face flushed red, and he tried to shake her off of him. “It’s not a big deal, and I’m fine. I didn’t tell you because I wanted you to feel sorry for me.”
“It’s not just pity,” Nene insisted with kind eyes. “You’re…my friend…and…”—she blushed red. “I care about you, Hanako.”
Hanako’s cheeks felt suddenly hot, and he frowned though he was sure his face was nearly as red as Nene’s. He couldn’t remember the last time someone had told him they cared about him, and Nene’s words were so earnest, so genuine, and so unexpected that he felt a pang in his chest. Before he could even think to stop himself, he wrapped an arm around her and pulled her into his chest—his fingers gently tangling in her long hair.
He heard her gasp in surprise, but she soon relaxed, almost melting into his arms and pulled him close to her as well—pressing her chin to his shoulder. The words he so desperately wanted to say got caught in his throat and all he could manage was “Thank you.” But he hoped she would know that his words meant so much more than just that. And for the first time in longer than he could remember he said, “And you can call me, Amane…if you want…”
1 Month Ago…
The King of the Underworld couldn’t describe the absolute rush he felt whenever Nene called him by name—by his real name: Amane. He knew he was probably kidding himself, but he couldn’t help but wonder if there was something in her eyes when she called him by name—if she truly saw him, not just as the fearsome ruler of the Land of the Dead, but as a real person, a real friend and, dare he even allow himself to hope, perhaps something more. But, of course, they never spoke of that. Never spoke of the fact they were technically king and queen, were technically eternally bonded to one another though their marriage was only in name and agreed to as a last resort. They never spoke of the fact that Nene didn’t belong here—among the dark, the death and decay. They never spoke of the day she would one day have to leave, and certainly never, ever spoke of the fact that the longer time went on, the more Amane didn’t want her to. But he could never ask her to stay. She belonged on the surface and in a month’s time, she would finally return there and—Amane thought with an ache in his chest—would likely forget all about him. Though he knew she would never want to come back to him once she had remembered how wonderful life was in the Land of the Living, he still couldn’t help but hope she would still remember him, perhaps even look back on some of the times they had shared together as fond memories.
“I have something for you,” he said with a lopsided smile even though he could feel his heart racing as he fumbled around with the box in his pocket. Nene looked up from the patch of garden she had been weeding with a curious tilt of her head, but she set down her trowel as Amane handed the little box to her. Nene’s eyes widened as he opened the lid of the box to see the beautiful ring of twisted golden vines and flowers with priceless gems in the center.
Nene gasped but smiled. “It’s beautiful.”
Amane’s cheeks grew warm, but he shrugged his shoulders. “It’s nothing really, just I wanted to get you something so…” He swallowed hard but tried his best to sound nonchalant. “So you won’t forget me.”
Nene took his hands, and as she met his eyes, Amane could have sworn his heart jumped into his throat. “I could never forget you. I’m really going to miss it here when I have to go away.”
Some of Nene’s entourage of Mokke began to whimper, and Amane’s own face flushed but he shrugged his shoulders. “It’s only for half the year. We’ll all still be here when you come back. But just you wait…you’ll be so happy up there on the surface that you’re not going to want to come back.”
Nene sighed and twisted her hands. “Maybe... but I don’t think so.” She smiled slightly at him. “I’m going to miss you, Amane, and all the Mokke and Yako and Tsuchigomori. I’ll probably even miss Natsuhiko.”
Amane snorted a laugh. “I seriously doubt that.”
Nene frowned, but her expression softened as she fidgeted. “Do you…do you think you’ll miss me?”
Amane’s face flushed, but he bristled and shrugged. “Well…I think it’ll be harder to run things around here without you.”
“Oh…” she said quietly as her face fell.
Sighing, Amane reached out and took her hand. “But yes, I…I’ll miss you…”
“Amane, I—” Her voice hitched, and she stopped abruptly. “I…never mind…” She shook her head before returning to her garden and trying to wrestle her trowel back from the playfully thieving Mokke. Something ached in Amane’s chest. Some things were better left unsaid.

Nene’s six months in the Underworld seemed to fly by in the blink of an eye, and though Amane and his subjects planned a lavish goodbye banquet and festival for Nene to celebrate her last day with them, Nene and Amane spent their final evening together as they always did, tending her garden by the moonlight. He promised her multiple times that he would be sure to take care of her garden while she was away and reassured her that everything would be waiting for her just the way she had left it when she returned in six months’ time. Nene thanked him graciously, but there was something forced and bittersweet in her smile.
Amane quickly got the impression that she was stalling as she began overwatering and pushing dirt around, if only to look busy, but when he had teased her about it, she had simply met his eyes and asked if he would stay with her for just a little while longer. He couldn’t find it in his heart to say no.
As they lied down in the soft grass and stared up at the moonlight streaming in through the skylight in the ceiling, Nene had curled next to him. His heart raced as she nestled into his chest.
“What if I stayed?” she asked quietly at last. Amane’s heart jumped into his throat, but he sighed.
“I couldn’t ask you to do that, Nene. You belong on the surface.”
“But…I don’t want to leave you here.”
“I’ll be fine,” he reassured her. “It’ll just be like it was before.” Only it wouldn’t be. He knew that better than anyone. “You have a whole world out there waiting for you.”
Nene shook her head. “This is my world now.”
“Then it’s a very small one.”
“Maybe…” she conceded with a sigh. “But it’s beautiful and it’s enough for me.”
Amane scoffed as he sat up and shook his head as he turned to face her. “What about your dreams, Nene? Didn’t you only eat that pomegranate in the first place because you wanted to find true love? Are you really going to give up on your dream that easily?”
There was a long, heavy pause before Nene whispered so quietly Amane almost couldn’t hear her. “But it already came true…”
As she smiled at him, his cheeks flushed red. “Don’t…” his voice hitched but he frowned. “Don’t be stupid…”
“I’m not stupid,” she insisted crossing her arms. “Amane…” His stomach backflipped at the look in her eyes when she said his name. She reached out a gentle hand to stroke the side of his cheek. “I love you. I don’t want to leave.”
“Nene…” he began to protest, but she interrupted him.
“Natsuhiko was right about that pomegranate. It really did make my dreams come true. I don’t need to go back to the surface to find true love. I already have it with you.” She smiled slightly, but her smile quickly faded as she fidgeted nervously and asked, “Do you…do you really not…love me?”
Amane swallowed hard. He wasn’t sure how to lie his way out of this one, and worst of all, he wasn’t sure he even wanted to. “Nene, I…” He stopped abruptly—growing suddenly aware of how close she was to him, of how he could feel her warm breath on his cheeks, of how he could count every freckle on her nose. With a sigh, he turned away from her. “I do…I do love you, but that’s why you have to go.”
“Why? I don’t understand.”
“Because you deserve more—deserve better than this.”
“Amane…this is what I want,” she insisted. “This life…you…all of it. This is my dream now. All of my wishes came true”—her cheeks flushed—“except one.”
Amane blushed but cleared his throat. “And what’s that?”
“To be kissed.”
“Well I…I think I…might be able to fix that…” His mouth twitched in the corners before he gently cupped her face in his hands, closed his eyes, leaned in and kissed her. As he pulled her close and tangled his hand in her hair, everything that came before and everything that may come after suddenly didn’t matter anymore. When they broke apart breathless and red-faced, Nene stared up at him with bright, pleading eyes. “Are you…are you still going to make me go?”
Amane pressed his palm to her cheek. “I don’t have a choice, Nene, but you’ll get to come back. Six months isn’t very long to spend apart, and you can write.” He pushed a piece of long hair out of her face. “I promise I’ll be here right where you left me.”
And half-a-year later, when she returned home—returned to him running straight into his arms with the biggest brightest smile on her face, he was.

Time to do this! G, K, Y, and Z!
Hello, Rae! Always a blessing to see an ask from you!
G - Do you remember your first OTP, if so who was in it
Do I ever! It's Tea Gardener and Yami Yugi.
K - Say something nice about someone in any of your fandoms
Kishou Arima did nothing wrong. Now, before y'all come at me with torches and pitchforks, lemme explain myself first.
Kishou did some very questionable things, without a doubt; the man killed and ripped apart families for a living, for God's sake. Could anyone blame him if he ever looked in the mirror and all he saw was a monster? Could anyone blame him for hating himself, especially considering that all he did was take from others and was heaped mountains of praise for something he hated doing?
I'll die on the hill that if he had a say in being anything, a ghoul investigator would not be it.
Having said that, could anyone blame Kishou for wanting to press a reset button on the world? Could anyone blame him for doing anything that he did behind the scenes? Could anyone blame him for wanting to give V (and his bastard father) the middle finger and leave something behind for a change, instead of continuing to snuff out lives?
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)
I'm familiar with fandoms like House of the Dragon and I sometimes see a couple Lord of the Rings floating around on my dash, but that's about it, really.
Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go (prompts optional but encouraged)
Oh boy. You really wanna open this can of worms, do you? Geez, where do I even begin? Um... I'm really no good at this. sweats
Here goes nothing.
In no particular order:
Original characters should be supported, unless they are causing actual harm to their creator or their creator is shutting down the opinions of others.
I don't support an original character or their creator being ostracized or ridiculed for being an OC or for creating an OC. I can't count how many times I've seen well-rounded original characters being tossed aside like trash and dubbed as "Mary Sue's/Gary Stu's", or they say the OC reminds them too much of a canon character. I know the thought isn't mutual for everybody and that's their choice, but I try to give everyone's OC a chance.
I love seeing people come up with anything: prompts, writing, art, you name it. Variety is the spice of life, and the more I see it, the more I want to see it.
For as much as I think fandom communities can be divisive and cause unnecessary tension at times, I also think that it's great that they can bring people together. Meeting people you otherwise would have probably never met if you hadn't joined this or that fandom, sharing ideas and scenarios and headcanons, you know?

@numberoneduelist
It’s really sweet that you’d teach me.
Has he ever heard those words before? Has he ever been told that what he’s doing is nice? If so, it would’ve had to have been so rarely and offhandedly that he’s not bothered to file it away anywhere. This one, though, he will end remember for a while.
The promise to try and refrain from burning the place down gets a snicker - and reminds him to check the fire extinguisher under the sink later. It’s been… some time.
Seto flattens his meatball and presses his thumb into the center just enough to leave an indent. He remembers reading about it somewhere - to keep the thing from ballooning, he thinks. He sets it on the empty sheet pan and then repeats the process for a second burger patty. The rest, he’ll set aside for later.
Another laugh. The warning is more for his companion than it is for his cat. She’s smart enough to know that Seto won’t feed her anything but kibble or wet food, but he’s certain that she’ll sniff out Yugi as a bleeding heart.
He pops open the fish grill and sets the burgers down before setting a timer and closing it back up. Then he steps over to the sink to wash his hands again, and looks at his… date… with a little confusion.
“Really?” He isn’t able to stop himself from asking. “King of Games, owner of the best shop in town, and a sense of loyalty strong enough that you’ve risked your life multiple times - and nobody’s interested?”
In the past, Seto has called Yugi a loser more times than he can count, has degraded his friends and his dreams so often he’d be hard-pressed to name all of the occasions he’s done it. And now here he is, on the opposite side of the arena - praising him. The words feel foreign coming out of his mouth, but they’re not untrue. He wouldn’t have invited the man over if he hadn’t actually found him special. Yes, he understands why people would be interested in the Pharaoh. No, he doesn’t get why those same people wouldn’t fall head over heels for Yugi Mutou.
Kindness, consideration, a smart sense of humor, and with an intellect and eye for strategy that rivals - perhaps even surpasses at some points - the greatest minds of this age. All qualities that the executive finds attractive. He’s also quite nice to look at.
When his hands are dry once more, he crosses his arms, eyebrow cocked.
“I’ll gladly be the first.”
Yugi gave a small chuckle, one hand lifting to sheepishly rub at the back of his neck. It was really nice to have compliments dished out to him, especially from someone who had been as hyper-critical of him as Seto Kaiba had always been. But it was hard to not be dismissive of those compliments.
After all, Atem had been the King of Games. It was only attached to his name because he was the body. His game shop was treading water at best. Most months it only just barely got enough to keep the lights on. His sense of loyalty and self-sacrificing nature he could take, but it often came across as just clingy and foolhardy.
But he definitely didn't want to have a personal pity party on his first date ever. No one liked a downer.
Instead he gave the other a soft smile and said, "Yeah, ah. No one has been interested yet. I mean, either that or I have just been super fucking oblivious about it."
He dropped his hand, shoving both in his pockets as he rocked back on his heels and added with a shrug, "Which I suppose is possible. Unless it involves card games, I am out of my depth a bit where life is concerned."
It was a very watered down version of his internal dialogue, but the sentiments were much kinder and a much more flattering way to respond to the incredibly handsome man that was looking down at him with that wry look that had his stomach somersaulting.
With a little chuckle he added, "I'm still a bit surprised that you are interested. Pleasantly surprised. Thrilled, actually. But definitely didn't see that coming."

kou minamoto <3
You glanced at your phone screen, the date flashing up at you. It was depressing. Thoughts of previous years danced in your head, as you shut your phone back off. You currently stood outside of your school, “open house” finally over. School was starting back in just a few days. Your days of freedom could be counted on one hand… this was, by far, one of your least favorite times of the year.
“(Y/N)! Do you still want to walk to the park?” Kou questioned, running up beside you. You nodded, hoping that spending time with your boyfriend would get your mind off of school, and memories related to such. As the two of you began to walk, you could practically feel the question on the tip of Kou’s tongue. He always made himself rather obvious- his hands fidgeted a bit, his gaze lowering to the ground.
“Say, (Y/N)... you seem sad. Is it because school’s starting back?”
You thought for a moment, unsure of how to put it. He certainly wasn’t wrong…
“Yeah, that’s basically it… last year was just… not a good year, haha.”
“Oh? Well, I’m sure this one will be better!! If you want, we can make a list or something? All the bad things about last year can be something we change this year-!”
Despite bitterly knowing that it wasn’t exactly something within your realm of control, you laughed a bit. “That’s… insanely corny, Kou. I didn’t say a terrible idea- just… corny.”
When you glanced up at him, you noticed his red face, as he blurted out an excuse. A moment of fumbling over his words passed, before he gave up, glancing off to the side once more.
“Wh-whatever- I mean, just… like, tell me what’s wrong, if you want to. And I’ll try to help. Alright?”
“It’s really not something either of us can help, Kou.”
“So? I’m your boyfriend,” He seemed a bit embarrassed to say, most likely not used to pulling that sort of card, “If you don’t want to tell me, I can’t make you. But, if you’re alright with telling me, I want to know. Either way, I’m here for you...”
“Ah… I know it, Kou. Honestly, I just… dealt with some bullying last year, so I’m really not looking forward to this year. No matter how much I hear ‘oh, the bully does it to feel better about themself’, it’s just emotionally… hm, awful, you know?”
“Oh… I understand, (Y/N). I do remember some people picking on me, since I have a big brother like Teru- it’s not fun at all. Here!! I’ll stay with you, 24/7! Sit with me during classes, and I’ll hang out with you during free time!” “Thanks, Kou- but we probably won’t have every class together.”
“Then- just tell me if something happens during the class,” He spoke, crossing his arms rather seriously. “I’ll talk with the teacher! Easy peasy!!”
A moment passed, before Kou took your hand, looking at the ground, then back up with you. His eyebrows were furrowed just slightly, his eyes not as wide as they usually were. Kou was being serious- as serious as his sweet mind could let him be. He almost seemed to resemble his big brother even more- when the two were serious.
“If something happens, tell me, okay? I mean it. I don’t want this year to be bad for you- as your friend and boyfriend! Let me do what I can to help, alright?”
You blinked a bit. Kou’s words were so sincere, you felt your heart beat a bit quicker. “A-alright. Thank you, Kou. I really mean it.” You spoke, bringing the boy into a hug to hide whatever sort of expression you were making.
“Of course! You don’t need to thank me, (Y/N). I’m happy to try and help-!”
mitsuba sousuke <3
“(Y/N), if you don’t tell me what’s wrong, I’ll give you something to complain about.”
Ah, Mitsuba… he spoke, his arms crossed as he sat next to you, silently noticing your slightly disheveled clothes. Judging by the slightly down look you wore, too many things were now adding up. Something was bothering you, and he was bound and determined to find out what it was.
“Mitsuba, it’s okay, really. Here! Let’s eat, I’m starving!” You opened up your bento box, sliding one his way, and sticking the chopsticks into your mouth. Though you hummed happily, Mitsuba was… in Detective Mode, to put it lightheartedly. Your every move was being analyzed, as he tried his best to figure out what was wrong. Your eyebrows furrowed, as you swallowed a bit harder than usual.
“What’s the point of lying to me, dummy? If you aren’t hungry, it’s probably because whatever is bothering you is ruining your appetite. Talk to me. I’m serious.”
You sighed, feeling as if the food was stuck in your throat. Or maybe your throat simply felt as though it had a lump in it…? Either way, you were painfully aware of the unpleasant feeling. Along with the creeping suspicion that Mitsuba wasn’t going to leave this alone. Was he good at reading people?? Were you just easy to read…? Or maybe, he was just far too accustomed to the way you reacted to things. Able to focus in on the little things, especially when he wanted to. Perhaps it was the talent of a photographer? Being able to read the entire picture??
Perhaps you were thinking too much into it, desperate for a way to get your mind off of the things going on around you.
“I’m just… dealing with some stuff.”
“Well, duh. What kind of stuff?”
You kept your gaze glued to the floor, fiddling absentmindedly with the chopsticks. You knew you could confide in Mitsuba… yet, something about it felt practically impossible. What would happen if you told him? Could he do anything? He was merely a ghost…
“Oi, I asked a question. Listen, and listen well, you idiot- I know I can’t solve all your problems, but I can at least listen- which is what you’d better be doing right now. You listen to me, though who wouldn’t want to is beyond me, so I can at least do the same. I’m not your therapist, but I am your boyfriend.”
Those words danced around in your mind for a bit, as you considered how to put it. For a moment, you simply nodded, letting Mitsuba know you heard- and were acknowledging- what he said. A few more moments passed before you began to speak.
“Lately, there have been some students… picking on me, I guess. It’s… discouraging, and makes school feel like a living nightmare. You’re the only good thing in my day at this hellhole.”
“Oh.”
You tightened your grip on the chopsticks, trying to read Mitsuba’s tone. Suddenly, it clicked- remembering Mitsuba mentioning being bullied for being “feminine” and “foul-mouthed”. He truly, genuinely, understood where you were coming from.
“I see, then… I’ll tell you what to do, (Y/N). Tell an adult, lame-o. I don’t give a flying flip about ‘oh, they won’t believe me’ or ‘what if the bullies blah blah.’ At least try it- it’s hard, but I don’t care about that either. Also, freaking ignore them. Obviously, you don’t want to pay them attention, so don’t.”
“Mitsuba, it’s not that easy-”
“I know. (Y/N), I’ve been in your shoes. Maybe it’s different- I dunno what kind of bullying they’re doing. Still, if you’re good enough for my standards, you know you’re at least worth something. So don’t let those low-lives get you down. I promise you, if I could, I’d give them a piece of my mind. But, since I can’t, just… do it yourself, or something. Don’t endure it, you rat.”
(“Mitsuba, all your insults lowkey feel like bullying-”
“Shut up, stupid-face, you can’t tell a teacher on a ghost. What’re you gonna say?? Waaaah, sensei, school mystery number 3 is calling me names!! Hah.”
“Tsuchigomori-sensei can see you, you know. And he teaches both Minamoto boys!”
“Lalalaaaa, I can’t hear you-”)
tsukasa yugi <3
Tsukasa… knows.
There was no other way to put it. You knew he knew, and you knew he was just waiting. A part of him wanted you to ask him for help- to confide in him, even if it took some pushing. He was… a bit different in that sense- I mean, how was he to know you didn’t enjoy being bullied? Was it the same way he felt when Amane looked at him with such hatred?
“(Y/N)!! What’s with such a sad look?? Did you get a bad test grade?” Tsukasa questioned, floating alongside you as you entered the broadcasting room. You simply shook your head, placing your bookbag on the floor, then standing back up.
“It’s just been a day, Tsu,” You added, taking a seat near Sakura. As you did, she pushed a cup of tea your way, her gaze as it usually was. She looked right through you, as if you were nothing but a ghost. Still, it was a much better look than the ones given by the bullies. Muttering a ‘thank you’, you lifted the cup, fiddling with it slightly.
“If there’s something bothering you, feel free to share it,” Sakura spoke, her gaze staying on you, then finally closing as she sipped from her cup.
“If there’s something bothering you, share it.” Tsukasa added, placing his head on your shoulder and staring at your eyes. His gaze drifted to your hands when you brought the cup to your lips, then over to your throat as you struggled to swallow.
“Runt, if you don’t back away from them, you’ll the the one bothering them,” Natsuhiko spoke, raising his eyebrows at Tsukasa, then offering you a slightly concerned look. His expression was enough for you to know he wanted to know if you were alright- to which you shrugged, reaching up and patting the side of Tsukasa’s face.
“Don’t worry, guys. I’ll be fine, really.”
Sakura pondered for a moment, before standing. “Mitsuba, would you like to walk with me? I should go grab something.”
Mitsuba, who had been sitting off to the side- glanced up, his usual puppy-like expression on his face. “Sure,” He replied, standing up, practically in sync with Natsuhiko.
“I’ll go as well, my lady!”
Oh. She’s doing that on purpose.
Your eyes followed the trio as they left the room, and you could feel Tsukasa’s eyes still stuck on you. The moment the door shut, he spoke. “(Y/N), tell me what’s wrong. You don’t seem to enjoy being miserable!”
“Am I supposed to?” “You’re miserable then? What’s wrong, c’mon!!”
“I didn’t say I was- just that I don’t think many people like it,” You spoke, taking another sip from the tea. The warmth of it made your throat feel hot, but it didn’t help the lump stuck in it.
“(Y/N). Just admit to me what’s wrong, and I’ll do what I can!”
You sighed, not wanting to grow frustrated. Tsukasa was… trying. He just didn’t understand everything- the boy who enjoyed seeing people wear normally unpleasant expressions, of course he wouldn’t personally understand. He wanted to help you, but how could a ghost help? Much less, the ghost of a boy such as him?
“(Y/N)-” “I’m just dealing with some bullies. It’s fine, Tsukasa- I’ll figure something out.”
“I’ll kill them <3”
“Tsu-”
Tsukasa stepped away from you, crossing his arms. “So, (Y/N), you don’t like it when people bully you? I’ll take care of it! Promise!” “Stop it right there, Mr. Only-grants-wishes-for-the-dead. Don’t ‘take care of them.’ I just need to get enough confidence to tell a teacher or something…”
Tsukasa paused, pouting his lips slightly, before nodding. Quickly, he floated back over to you, and trapped you in a hug. His arms wrapped around you securely, making you feel rather safe for being in the arms of such a destructive boy. “Fine. I’ll go with you, then, (Y/N)! I’ll even hold your hand!! And I definitely won’t let those bullies bother you any more~.”
“Tsukasa, please, don’t do anything drastic-” “Whatever you say, (Y/N). You know I can’t go against the wishes of my cute partner~!”

More word vomit. Just a silly little thing, fluffy as hell, you know the drill. I haven't felt like writing much recently due to a death in my family, but this was fun. I'm hoping to get back into writing bad pick up lines and my current fic soon.
Truth or Dare?
“We should play a game!” Joey said excitedly.
“What kind?” Yugi asked from his spot on the sofa.
“I dunno.” Joey shrugged. “Any suggestions?”
“How about Truth or Dare?” Duke suggested.
Yugi felt his stomach drop. He hated this game. It was inevitable when his friends got together for a drink that they would end up playing this. They always asked the most awkward questions... but it could be fun.
“But make it interesting.” Ryou added, entering the room with two glasses. He handed one to Téa and took a seat. “I have an app which will randomise questions and we roll dice to chose truth or dare.”
The others murmured excitedly about the idea and Yugi stayed silent, watching his friends and trying to think of any way out of this.
Atem nudged his arm and handed him a full glass. “Okay?”
Yugi nodded. Here was the problem. Atem was living with them now, rewarded with a new life after the ceremonial duel. It was good... it was great. It was also causing Yugi problems.
He was attracted to Atem. No... that wasn’t quite right. He was head over heels completely and utterly in love with Atem. Yeah.
His friends were moving, pulling the small coffee table into the middle of the room and sitting down in a circle. Atem had joined them.
“Come on Yugi.” Ryou said.
He was the only one who hadn’t moved. He dragged himself off the sofa and took a seat next to Atem on the floor, trying to look excited.
“Well, I’ll start.” Ryou shrugged.
“Wait.” Tristan grinned at them all. “Another rule. If anyone refuses a truth or dare they take a shot.” He placed a bottle of Tequilla on the table and Yugi groaned.
“Fair enough.” Ryou smiled. “Odds are a truth, evens are dares.” He rolled the dice. “3”
He pressed the truth button on his phone screen. A small box popped up.
“Have you ever sworn in front of your parents?” He read the text out and laughed. “All the time.”
The rest of them laughed too and Téa picked up the dice.
“5!” She said, relief clear in her voice. “What makes you happy? Hmm.” She smiled at everyone around the table. “Being with you guys. Easy.”
Duke snatched up the dice and rolled. “4.” He reached over to press the right button and laughed. “Let someone on your social media for two minutes unsupervised.” He shook his head. “Sorry guys, no can do.”
“Aw, come on Duke!” Joey said.
“I don’t think so. I have an image to maintain.” Duke grabbed a shot glass and Tristan poured him a drink. “That’s strong.” He coughed after he finished the shot. “Your turn Tem.” He passed the dice and winked at him.
Yugi tried not to think about that.
“1.” Atem said after he rolled.
“What’s your biggest regret?” Ryou read out the question.
“Wow.” Atem laughed quietly, looking down at his lap and sighing. “I try not to have regrets but... Probably not spending more time with my father.”
They all smiled at him and Yugi patted his arm before taking the dice himself. He prayed for an odd number as he watched the dice bounce along the table.
“3.” He almost sighed with relief.
“What are you most self-conscious about?” Ryou asked.
Yugi laughed and looked down at his drink. “So many things.” He shrugged. “Um, probably my height. I wish I looked a little less weak.”
Atem placed his hand on Yugis arm and smiled at him when he looked up. Yugi shook his head, he really didn’t need Atem to try make him feel better about himself, but he could tell he wanted to say something.
“4” Joey said after he rolled, he reached across the table for Ryous phone and laughed. “Spin around ten times then try walk in a straight line?”
He stood up, moving away from the group. As he span he counted his turns then stopped, swaying on the spot when he reached ten. Two steps was all he could manage before he became unbalanced and fell sideways onto the sofa.
“Drink up!” Tristan shouted as he laughed.
Joey grumbled and sat back down, throwing back the drink.
The game progressed steadily, Yugi was enjoying the randomly generated truths and dares, he didn’t feel as targeted and was actually liking the game.
“Truth!” Duke smiled as Ryou slid his phone across the table. “Oh, this is a good one. If you had to sleep with one person in this room, who would it be and why? Hmm.” He looked around them all slowly and Joey laughed.
“Come on man, we know it’s gonna be Téa, she’s the only girl here.” He said.
“Atem.” Duke said, smirking as Joey made a shocked sound in his throat. “As for why.” He turned to wink at Atem and Yugi resisted the urge to sigh. “Look at him. I’ve seen some attractive guys before, but wow.”
Atem laughed and shook his head. “You flatter me.” He said.
“I’m just saying.” Duke shrugged. “The offers there.”
“Thanks, but no.” Atem said kindly, leaning back on his hands and smiling.
Duke sighed loudly, then laughed, taking a drink. “Your loss.” He said.
Atem rolled the dice and took Ryous phone.
“No, I’m not answering that one.” He said, sliding Ryous phone to Yugi and pushing the shot glass toward Tristan.
“What was it?” Joey asked, looking over the table to see the screen. “Aw! How many people have you slept with? That’s not even that bad Tem.”
“It’s personal.” Atem shrugged, taking the shot and scrunching his nose up after he swallowed.
Yugi sat quietly by his side, unsure of what to say. A part of him was curious, obviously, Atem was a King, and a prince before that. Surely he’d had some kind of relationship with someone...
“Yugi?” Ryou asked.
“Oh, sorry.” He rolled he dice... 6. Great. He pressed the button and almost choked on his drink when the dare popped onto the screen. “Keep your hand on the inner thigh of the person to your right for the next round.”
He looked to the side and Atem laughed, shrugging. Yugi smiled shyly and looked back to the table, shaking his head.
“I don’t think that would be-“
“Come on Yug!” Joey said. “It’s only a bit of fun.”
“Well, Atem might not want to.” Yugi said sharply.
“I don’t mind.” Atem said quietly.
Yugi almost died. He was hoping Atem would say no, that he agreed with Yugi and give him an easy out but he didn’t.
They were close, it wouldn’t be weird right? He slapped his hand on Atems thigh a little harder than he meant to before he could change his mind. Atem only smiled at him.
Yugi had no idea what the rest of his friends were asked for the next round, he sat completely still, one hand firm on Atems thigh and the other clenched into a fist on his own lap.
It wasn’t weird. It wasn’t.
Atems thigh was warm and solid under his hand. His other self didn’t seem too bothered by the gesture either which Yugi couldn’t decide was making everything worse or better.
It wouldn’t be half as awkward if he didn’t feel the way he did about Atem. Duke was right... he was attractive, and Yugi felt a little irritated that he wasn’t the only one who had noticed that.
He looked up as Atem moved to pick up the dice. He rolled a 2.
“Get within an inch of someone, look in their eyes and tell them how you feel about them for one minute.” Ryou said, grinning.
Atem laughed softly then smiled. “I don’t think a minute will be long enough.” He said before he turned to Yugi.
His hand fell from Atems thigh and his heart stopped beating. He had stopped breathing, all he could focus on was the fact that Atem was getting closer to him, he was looking into his eyes and smiling at him so warmly.
“Yugi.” He whispered. “You are the strongest person I know. You’re loyal, kind, and brave. You gave me a home when I had no one else. Took me into your heart when I didn’t even know my own name, and you continue to help me even now. What I feel for you isn’t something I’ve ever felt before and I can try fooling myself into thinking it’s just friendship, but it is so much more than that. I think I may be slightly, hopelessly, in love with you.”
Everyone was silent, no one moved. It was almost like him and Atem were the only two people in the room.
Atem smiled at him. “A minute isn’t long enough to tell you just how much I adore you.”
He swallowed heavily. He couldn’t take his eyes off Atems, couldn’t tear his gaze away from their beautiful depths.
He couldn’t speak. Couldn’t put into words just how happy he was, how he felt about Atem... but he could show him.
Yugi leaned forward, pressing his lips softly against Atems.
He felt the other sigh softly against him before the slight pressure was returned.
They parted after a while and smiled at each other. Atem winked at him then sat back.
“Technically, you weren’t meant to touch him.” Ryou said.
“Take a shot man!” Tristan exclaimed, pushing a full shot glass toward him.
“Worth it.” Atem shrugged and took the shot, putting the glass back down and smiling at Yugi.

Hello! I thought of this request while I was in online class lmao. Ok so how about a yandere scenario with Hanako, Tsukasa and Teru seeing their darling s/o trying to escape from them??
Oh hell yes! We love yandere Tsukasa in this household- like, please, I would let him yoink me and throw me into his boundary. I'm such a simp istg
Hanako-Kun The Bathroom Ghost, Wonder No. 7
Tumblr media
You had escaped, neither your nor him know exactly how you got out but you did
And now, you were hiding, hoping that he would eventually give up on looking for you and then you could finally get out of this cursed school.
But you forgot one thing
Unlike you and your human friends, ghosts don't need to sleep.
So while you were hiding in your little storage closet, trying your hardest not to doze off because of the lack of sleep you'd had in Hanako's grasp, the apparition was searching the school from top to bottom.
And after he recruited a handful of Mokke, he had found you, sound asleep on the floor.
He couldn't help but laugh at how weak you looked when asleep, it was adorable!
He watched you for a moment, your chest rising and falling softly as you breathe
Hanako thought of all the things he could do to you, but of course he doesn't do anything! Because that's wrong and he doesn't want you to hate him!
But he does pick you up, making sure not to wake you as he carries you back to your little prison.
Once you woke up, the first thing you saw were Hanako's sad eyes looking at you.
"Moon, why did you try to escape? I thought you loved me." Hanako asks, hurt glossing his amber eyes.
You look away from him. You are not letting him guilt trip you. You know that's what he's trying to do, he's done it before.
"I hate it here." You mumble, watching the Mokke stack themselves into a small pyramid.
Hanako felt himself about to cry, his vision blurring as he tries to come up with an excuse for you.
You were just tired! Yeah, that's it! He's been keeping you up for days on end because he forgot that humans need sleep!
"Moon, just get some rest, that's all you need. You're tired." Hanako says, smiling softly at you.
"I don't need sleep! I need you to let me go!" You cry out, tugging at the chains on your arm.
You were always so difficult. You were never satisfied with anything that Hanako did for you.
"Tell me what I'm doing wrong." Hanako says, grasping your hands in his cold ones.
"Tell me how to make you happy and hoe to get you to smile! I want us to be together! Please!" As he begged, his grip on your hands subconsciously became tighter.
"Tell me why you hate me so much!"
His grip was unbearable.
"Ha-hanako, you're hurting me...!" You whimpering out, tears pricking at the corner of your eyes.
Hanako's eyes widen and he immediately let's go, his hands moving quickly to his chest.
"I'm sorry.. I'm so sorry..." He kept mumbling apologies as he basically ran out of the room, leaving you tied up with nothing other then the Mokke to keep you company.
Tsukasa Yugi, The Rumor Spreader
Tumblr media
Sakura was bound to Tsukasa. She had to do what he said even if it pained her. That was why she took care of you so often.
Tsukasa told her to keep an eye on you to make sure you didn't escape. She hated it, taking care of you.
Not that she hated you or having to take care of another person! She liked you, but she hated the events that lead up to your meeting.
And after months of worrying for your safety, she finally had enough and decided to help you escape.
"Please, just be quiet, I'll get in a lot of trouble for doing this. I just can't stand seeing you suffer anymore." She states quietly as she takes you out of the Boundary.
You two were so close, you could see the front doors.
Yet as soon as you were close enough to open them, you heard an all too familiar laugh behind you.
Both yours and Sakura's eyes widen as your blood runs cold. You knew who it was, you had no need to turn around, especially with the arms and legs wrapping around your shaking form.
"Where do you think you're going?" Tsukasa whispers into your ear, giggling softly.
You shook more as you felt him lick the shell of you're ear.
"Well?" He smirks, before looking to Sakura.
"Take them back to the boundary. Now." He says, his eyes darkening.
Sakura looks down at the ground before nodding, grabbing your wrist tightly before walking back into the depths of the school. "I'm really sorry, you know I don't want to do this." She mumbles
Back in the boundary, Sakura cuffed you back down to your chair before backing away from you.
Tsukasa held a sharp knife, the sadistically cute smile grazing his lips as he looked at you with darkened eyes.
Though you prayed that this was an empty threat of harm, it seemed all too real to be fake.
"Why'd you try to escape? Do you not like it here?" He asked, a mocking innocence threading his voice as he helped you and brought his pointer finger up to his bottom lip. "Amane said that people like being taken care of by their partners. And Amane never lies!"
"You're not taking care of me." You whimper as you watch the apparition play with the knife in his hands.
"Yes I am." He says, smiling at you before turning his attention away from you. "That's not the big problem though." He states as he stares at Sakura. "You helped them escape. You can't disobey what I say!" He yells like a child, throwing the knife at her, missing her face by a few inches.
Sakura stood there, her normally blank expression showing clear fear as her form shook.
Tsukasa then once again turns back to you, a big smile on his face.
"You made me so scared! I thought someone was gonna hurt you or try to take you away from me!" He cries out as he glomps you, wrapping his limbs around your body in a tight hug.
"I need to make sure that everyone knows you're mine!" Tsukasa exclaims happy as he opens his mouth and bites down on your neck harshly enough to draw blood.
You scream out in pain, tears pricking your eyes as you writhe underneath the boy.
Sakura turned away and covered her ears, wanting to cry herself.
"You need to learn your lesson!" Tsukasa chimes, smiling happily as a bit of blood trailed down the corner of his mouth.
Teru Minamoto, The School Prince
Tumblr media
He'd be upset, not only at you, but at himself and anyone who tried to help you.
He'd punish you and threaten the helpers.
Kou sighs, scratching at the back or his head as he looks at the mess he'd made in the living room.
Where has Tiara's Mokke gone? He's looked around the entire house and couldn't find it.
As one last resort, he walked to the basement door. Yes, Teru told him not to go in there, but it was for their sister, he would understand, right?
He grabs the cold handle, pulling the door open. Kou looks down at the dark stairs.
He pulls out his phone, turning on the flashlight before descending the staircase, keeping the light on steps so that he wouldn't slip.
You looked at the Minamoto, refusing to make any noise. Hoping that he wasn't here for you
You watched as he first went to the other half of the basement, shining his phone light in some boxes and digging around a bit before moving to the next.
"Not here either where could it have gone? It's not like it could ha-" Kou's eyes widen as he turns around, his flashlight illuminating the other side of the room, and thus you.
"Wh-what are you doing in our basement?" Kou asks, trying to sound brave as he looks at you.
"I... Um..." You tried to this k of something, anything to say that wouldn't make you sound weird.
But you also count say that his brother kidnapped you, what would Kou think?
"It's not what you think," You say, panicked.
"That doesn't answer my question." He says, taking steps closer to your shaking frame.
"What are you doing in my house?" He asks, a slightly more demanding tone in his voice.
You curl up into a ball, your kneed to your chest and covering your head, causing the chains on your ankle and wrist to rattle loudly, shining them in the light.
"Pl-please don't hurt me." You beg, shaking more.
Teru never hurt you, of course not, but you were always so scared that he would.
Kou's eyes widen as he looks at you and the chains tethering you to the bed and wall. "Why are..." He stops himself, only walking closer to you to get a better look at the cuffs.
"How long have you been down here...?" Kou questions, setting his phone down on the bed, the light illuminating the ceiling.
You life your head up slightly, taken slightly aback by how close he suddenly was.
"...A few months maybe? I have nothing to tell time with other than Teru coming in to say good morning before he goes to school and goodnight." You mumble looking down at the bed, slipping your arms under your knees and hugging your thighs closer to you.
"Teru-nii? What do you mean? Never mind, I need to get you out of here, what's you're name?" He asks, looking for a way to get the cuff off your ankle.
"Uh.. Y/N. I'm a third year." You state, watching him analysis the cuff.
You watch Kou, thinking that maybe, just maybe, you'd be able to escape this hell hole.
That is until you hear someone clear their throat at the top of the basement stairs.
You freeze, eyes widening as you refuse to look up, knowing exactly who it is.
Teru sighs as he walks down the steps, shaking his head softly.
He looked at the scene unfolding in front of him, his dear little brother had found his darling, who happened to be locked in the basement.
"T-Teru-nii, why is Y/N-Senpai in our basement?" Kou asked, his voice changing slightly.
"Better question," Teru starts, his eyes glaring daggers into his brother. "Why are you in here? I told both you and Tiara not to go in here, didn't I?"
Kou's eyes widen slightly as he stood up right.
"Well, yeah but-" Kou starts.
"Then why are you here. And why are you trying to help them escape? They're here for a reason Kou." Teru states, crossing his arms as he stands in front of his brother.
"I knew I couldn't trust you with something like this." Teru mumbles as he turns his attention to his darling, still unmoving in the bed.
"Darling, are you alright? Did kou do anything to you?" He asks, kneeling down next to you.
"Get away from them!" Kou shouts, causing you to jump.
Teru stands up straight again, looking over to his brother as his eyes darken. "Kou, you have no idea what I'm doing. They're here because they need to be protected, they need someone to look after them. And I'm that person, I love them and they love me."
Kou looks up at his brother, slight fear glossing over his eyes as he does so.
You felt useless. Like a toy that two toddlers were fighting over. You were powerless.
"T-teru please, leave him alone... He doesn't understand." You say quietly, trying to calm your captor down.
The older Minamoto looks over at you, a small smile gracing his lips. "Darling I know, but he's getting in the way."
Kou looks at you, shock evident on his face. "Senpai, are you really taking his side on this? He kidnapped you!" Kou stresses.
"He did it for my own good." You fake a smile as you look at Kou, ready to break down.
"Now, Kou. Leave the basement, never come back down here and never tell anyone what you saw here." Teru orders.
Kou sighs, his head dropping as he grabs his phone and slowly makes his way back upstairs.
Teru turns once again to you. "Now, for you."
"How should I punish you? Isolation? Sleep deprivation?" Teru chuckles, thinking of all the things he could do.
"I think sleep deprivation sound suitable, don't you?"

S4 Ep40: Fixing Dartz By Not Actually Fixing Dartz
Yo Merry Christmas, I’m quarantined as hell, so I’m just streaming and playing video games until my problems get vaccinated away.
So lets just write about Yugioh because hell a lot didn’t go as planned this year (can you believe my 2020 goal for this blog was to finish ALL OF YUGIOH?) but although my goals were halved and quartered--With this blog I don’t freakin care anymore, and somehow...that’s how it’s one of the few creative bastions I have left standing.
Wild.
I’m so done with the internet, I’m not even updating twitter right now.
But hell yes, lets update the Yugioh blog.
So onward, with the last episode of this season. We last left off with Yami getting devoured by a hate tornado which is just...a lot of 2020 energy. This whole season, in a nutshell is just...2020 energy, honestly. And this tornado is just twitter. It’s just twitter incarnated.
Tumblr media
Rather than try to save himself and consequently fix his ghost problem, Yugi has decided to keep himself haunted by fixing Pharaoh’s inner emotional problems. Really is something, isn’t it? To do low key therapy for the ghost that basically...put you in therapy? Yugi can help fix his problems but like...he’s still a mess of problems because of it. Now Yugi shouldn’t walk away, of course, that’s effed up, but it is a little irony there.
Pharaoh, of course, has decided to submit to the hate tornado, and sees it as a manifestation of his own anger and bad vibes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Isn’t that’s the real problem we have when we have to confront the feelings we don’t want to confront? Where we tend to feel guilt and hate for being upset, which is just sort of a thing humans naturally tend to do--instead of actually working on controlling what you do with those feelings so that way we stop lashing out and setting everyone on fire in the burger restaurant?
Like Pharaoh should be learning to count to 10, not trying to just remove his anger. This has sort of been his problem for a while--he assumes he can just...delete his rage. That’s not a thing. You can’t do that unless you have very specific medication through a doctor, and that’s why he keeps failing at it.
And this goes back to S1 when he “fixed” Kaiba and like nothing really happened. Pharaoh’s decided to wipe himself and like...it’s up to your own interpretation but like...in my book that Pharaoh brand clean cycle does freakin nothing. It gets reversed like constantly.
(read more under the cut)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So Yugi decides to hit up Plan B, which is, honestly? Not a great message. But it’s the anime trope that we keep going back to because it’s the catch-all to make any anime protagonist into the good guy.
Tumblr media
Like...
...
.......Yeah I’m gonna talk about it.
this is a trope that is so common it’s sort of ubiquitous with the genre. You gotta have the protagonist give up on their own strength, and be lifted up by their pals at the very last second--it’s like the anime hero’s journey.
But I really don’t like it. I don’t like the power of freindship. I’ll say it.
Because there’s some things you have to handle on your own. And I don’t think it’s a bad thing to have your main character show strength and show character development by doing things by themselves at the last minute. We already know that Pharaoh’s a good pal and believes in his friends--but like...does he believe in himself?
I can’t tell you if he does by how this episode goes, that’s for sure.
The whole point of this tornado is to see Yami discover his own strength and overcome his weaknesses...and yet he still relies on that good ol chestnut, friend powers.
Like last episode I feel like they did this already and it was way better--other people offered their help willingly, then Pharaoh got to have a big ol fight solo in the clouds to prove he was strong on his own as well. We finished the whole season last episode, so what are we accomplishing now other than a last minute secret boss fight?
Why would Yami doubt himself now? It’s weird. Yugi’s right to have mentioned “yo didn’t we figure this all out in desert hell???” because...we did. Yami is retreading old territory.
And that’s a thing that happens when you write, PS, when Yugi was saying “we already did this!” Yugi was reminding the writers of the show “we did this already. Like guys. We did this.” and sometimes when you’re writing, your characters will do that to you, and you should always be paying attention to cues like that.
Anyway, he vanquishes the hate tornado by thinking fondly of all of his buddies, and then the storm that should have been over the Atlantic Ocean, as according to the dub, parted in the sky above California.
Tumblr media
GEOGRAPHY, the secret final boss of this season of Yugioh. And they failed. In a big way.
Tumblr media
Yugi holds out his hands in real life, and pretends to hold a ghost that isn’t there. Now I want all of you to do this position IRL. Like that. OK. It looks like Yugi is holding onto a pair of ghost boobies.
Meanwhile, actual and very literal ghosts with very real bodies show up and start picking up Dartz and like...
...The ending of Dartz’ storyline is a TRIP! Lets just get into it!
Tumblr media
This cursed dog. I can’t stand how this dog is drawn. I hate it so much that I actually love it, and if I saw this in a thrift store I would impulse buy it and hang it over my fireplace mantle in a golden gilded frame.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
AHHH????
WHAT????
He electrocuted you with LIGHTNING! He killed your...everyone! He killed EVERYONE!
Also girl, how are you HERE? Like Physically??? I saw you die! TWICE!!
Yugioh is on SOMETHING with this one, and I think that “something” is called “we weren’t allowed to give you a PG-13 sad ending.”
Tumblr media
This is just the freakin weirdest thing. We have a character who is worse than Darth Vadar, and this show has pulled so many dark things in it’s history, but it just...
...it can’t punish Dartz at all, and I don’t know what they were thinking.
They have been poetic before--Pegasus got his eyeball gruesomely ripped straight out of his face, nearly got murdered by Bakura, and was not able to resurrect his wife. Noah hella died, had to give up his plan to rule the world and be a real boy, and had to murder his own Dad even, the moment he finally made a bond with his brothers. Marik had to lose all control of his body, live helplessly inside Tea’s bod for an entire season and accept the fact that he murdered his Dad and now has to live on without any of the magic that ever made him powerful in a broken world and a broken family he will never understand.
Dartz though?
If he does get some sort of poetic retribution, it will be off-screen because we don’t have time for it.
And that’s kind of a bummer because this is usually something Yugioh is kinda good at! I enjoy when this show goes dark, this is a great opportunity to do it...and they didn’t.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was just the wettest fart Yugioh has ever played on me.
Just the wettest. Nice knowing you, Dartz. Glad you were here to murder everyone on Earth and then totes get away with it because we’ll just pretend like the Orichalcos was a totally different person--although it’s not. Because Yami JUST told us that it doesn’t work that way. Yami JUST told us that the Orichalcos was using his own pain and his own hate against him.
It’s not a separate person, it’s the same!
And to suggest that Yami vanquishing that hate tornado somehow cured Dartz of all his sins, is some upper level Jesus stuff that I don’t think this show would normally want to tread on. Straight up. Yami is a pretty poor stand in for Jesus Christ, and I feel I can straight up say that because it’s Christmas.
...what HAPPENED in the writing room with this one? Did they just run out of episodes? There are less episodes this seasons than other seasons have been.
Was it edited for the English version? Because I...kind of doubt they could edit that much to make it that drastically different.
I’m just boggled. Like usually I’m of the opinion to let the writers do whatever they do because I do not know what was going on behind the scenes, and I’m still of the opinion that they did the best of what they could do with the resources they were given.
BUT, this episode just feels...hella sus. I feel like they just had to make an ending. Any ending. Get an ending on there and finish the season before the power goes out and then run away with whatever paycheck you get (because in entertainment--you might not get one).
Tumblr media
Seto and Joey made it completely back to the KaibaCopter before Tea was like “I mean it’s been 15 minutes, guys, you really didn’t hear him behind you? You really lost his tiny pitter patter of his little shoes? The little shoes that make a little tinkly noise like a kitty cat’s collar? A little kitty cat collar that he also wears around his neck? His neck that has a golden pyramid held by a tow chain that makes a little clanky clank when it hits his two belts covered in metal rivets that makes a little singsong clippity cloppity noise every time he so much as breathes? He’s a walking talking Bell of Notre Dame, you lost him?”
and Seto was like “Oh damn it, I know he’s the same size as Mokuba, and so I should be really good at not losing this kid but also have you noticed how many times I’ve lost Mokuba???”
Joey just looked into the distant tomb hut and said “......You’re kidding me.” and decided to immediately run back because Joey Wheeler knows what’s up.
Tumblr media
Had Joey Wheeler actually made it back to Atlantis, he would have seen Dartz and his entire family hugging it out and would have immediately socked the guy straight in the dick and it would have been a great way to finally give Dartz just one single consequence for murdering everyone on Earth but you know, I did not write this episode.
Tumblr media
I’m really glad that in the same episode that Yami called upon the powers of friendship, his friends hella ditched him to vanquish in a watery grave.
This is wild!
Tumblr media
Seto’s words were “Good riddance” as the island went down, and you could not tell if he was talking about the island or about Yugi.
That and Kaiba Really Hates Islands. LOVES watching an island go up in smoke (or underwater, in this case). Loves nothing more.
Seto, your powers of friendship were just used to save the world.
Apparently the standard for friendship power is...not much. But they did just make Yami, of all people, do a literal Jesus in Gethsemane so...the bar for morality is just not very high in this anime.
Tumblr media
Did the Great Leviathan stitch Weevil Underwood’s body back together or something? This is...
...Yo Weevil are you immortal now? Are you the big bad in S5 that comes out of nowhere and kick’s Bakura’s ass back to the Shadow Realm like Marik in S2? Because I’ll accept that.
I won’t like it, but I’ll accept that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
look at those toddler shoes worn by a full adult! Weevil Underwood is so over-designed for a super low-level miniboss and I low key love that they love Weevil Underwood this freakin much.
Of all people, Weevil Freakin Underwood.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Listen, listen, listen.
If Mikey was still alive, he’d be older.
He’d have been older in that Leviathan tummy, he’d be Alister’s age but he’s not. He’s uh...
Yo show that got real dark. Show this is what you should have done to Dartz. I love this sort of dark ending for a rude asshole who is going to try to put his family back together although it’s completely impossible--this would have been a good Dartz ending. But...whatever. It’s fine.
We’ll...let Dartz have his family back, it’s fine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile, in the first actual picture of California that really feels like California, Valon immediately accepts the fact that Mai left him.
This is also a great dark ending for Valon. To accept that the people in your life have moved on and that you, too, must move on, even if it’s alone. This would have been an excellent ending for Dartz.
Tumblr media
And then Mai just bounces. She does not seek out Joey Wheeler, because she’s like “I have to fix some stuff, I have some serious problems, and it’s going to take a really long time before I can get over my toxic past.” and just freakin leaves us. Sorry, anyone who was hoping Joey and Mai would smooch at any point, it’s uh...it’s not legal yet.
And TBH I don’t even know if Valon is legal either, and the show decided to not reveal that to us, or allow them to smooch.
And as for Raphael? Uh...
They didn’t bother, I think. I didn’t cap it, at least. But we did get at least one person washed up on a beach.
Tumblr media
It would be Kuribo.
Tumblr media
I talk about 2020 energy a lot in this season but like...wild 2020 energy here, to be so freakin chill and can I say--delighted--to be stranded on an abandoned island.
Tumblr media
The show does not elaborate any more on if the cards are dead or alive, or if the games we are playing are with actual people forced to play these horrible games for us. It’s best that they don’t tell us. Just like Mr Mime. No one wants to know.
Mr Mime as in the Pokemon Mr Mime, PS, I just realized that there is a mime in this universe and he’s just...I don’t really want to know about that guy, either. All mimes honestly, I don’t want to know anything at all about all mimes.
Luckily, for Yugi, Kaiba didn’t fly very far from this island, and so we don’t have to have some sort of weird season cliffhanger where we guess how long Yugi can live off of coconuts (2 hours. he would last 2 hours on this island)
Although it would be such a cliffhanger to wonder what Yugi’s hair would look like after that. the same, right? Like it’s the same amount of grease and nasty stuff? He’d just have his roots growing out?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And there they go--goodbye Dues Ex Machina Cards. Either the show can’t keep you on board because you’re hella broken, or the three dragon warriors died, or retired, or whatever it is when a card is like “I’m done with humanity, please leave me alone and never call me again.”
Did Seto low key just break up with his side piece just now? Tragic.
Tumblr media
Remember that time that Yugi was so bouyant he was armpits out of the water in S2? It’s crazy how bouyant Yugi Muto is. Like if someone did one of those anime cross-sections of his anatomy, he needs like 3 or 4 duck shaped pool floaties in there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, full disclosure, I have written the ending to this post 3 times because tumblr keeps deleting this post out of my drafts folder (I shouldn’t be writing this in my drafts folder, being real, it’s been really buggy lately, and I’m gonna have to make a different solution to this) So I’m just...
...gonna end on this note. This exciting note that Bakura is next. Finally, Bakura (JK of course, because apparently Bakura doesn’t show up for half the season. Bro told me this and offered that we should skip that filler and of course I told him that is not the point of this blog and we will be watching all of that gruesome filler piece by piece. Because for someone, out there--that filler is their favorite episode. I don’t know who you are--but get ready for filler.)
Now Yami could just...call up Bakura at any point at his house and make an appointment to end the world...but maybe S5 will go a different direction? We shall see.
Anyway, that’s it for this Season! Thanks all for sticking with us when I just...didn’t have an upload schedule for this entire year. It’s been a YEAR. But, I’m hoping for good things in the future, and that things will adjust back to a normal upload schedule and that...hopefully tumblr won’t die or something weird like that.
I’m gonna finish the Full Metal alchemist Live Action movie next (we’re like halfway through) and then after that--onward to to S5! See y’all there!
Stay safe!

"rival"
There you are. You. Asking for a GX Rivalshipping drabble with 'Rival' as a keyword. Here you go. I hope you're happy ;; The length is around 2k words.
Special thanks to @deadkura for proofreading, but I note that any and all mistakes are on me. They were just... my poor lab rat. Apologies, my friend.
That aside, there are no warnings that need to be given, this is light-hearted in tone. Nobody dies and nobody gets hurt, aside from Shou who happens to be there at some point and just succumbs to the need to get on with some semblance of a plot.
... It's on Ao3 because why not. Here.
The story is below the cut! Enjoy (or don't)!
____ ____ ____
Manjoume could vaguely remember the first time he’d watched the Battle City recordings. He couldn’t remember when it had been exactly, but he did know he’d been at a classmate’s house with a bunch of other kids. He had a faint memory of being pressed up against other children, all of them shouting and cheering along as the duel between Seto Kaiba and Yugi Mutou came to a roaring end.
… It had been noisy. And he’d found himself mildly annoyed. Not that the duel didn’t have him on the edge of his seat- quite the opposite. He was completely mesmerised by the unforgiving tornado of grace that was Seto Kaiba, most of all. Perhaps that was why he’d found the others to be so bothersome in that specific instance. It seemed very rude to him that they would take him out of the experience with their screams. Was that fun? Was it supposed to be fun? Was he simply out of the loop? Should he have been screaming, too?
The thing he could recollect with a surprising amount of clarity was some kid who’d grabbed his arm to get him off the couch. To this day, he still had no clue what his name was.
“Jun! Come on, I want to play Yugi! You can be Kaiba!”
He remembered muttering something about the suggestion being extremely stupid. The kid wasn’t Yugi Mutou and neither of them possessed any Duel Monsters cards. What was the point of just replicating what they had just watched on screen? They could just… rewatch the scene. But the kid had seemed to be very set on the idea and when Manjoume looked around to see expectant looks on the others’ faces, he ended up giving in. He remembered thinking something along the lines of: ‘Why me?’ And even in retrospect, it made very little sense. He’d never played with this specific kid before. He was a friend of a friend- or a friend of someone he thought was a friend at the time.
“Why do I have to do this?” He had ended up asking, not hiding any sign of his annoyance. “Because you’re like Kaiba!” “I am?” “Yeah! You always say mean things like him! And Taro says you’re like… super rich.”
The rest was a bit of a blur, but he remembered being the ‘Kaiba’ of the group, for as long as it lasted. Which wasn’t a very long time, admittedly. But it had been the one and only ‘friend group’ he’d found himself being a part of, up until he’d entered the dueling circuits, when people started sucking up to him either because of his early successes or just to see what could be squeezed out of the youngest of the Manjoume brothers.
Reminiscing about things like that was… weird, to say the least. He wondered why he’d been that stuck up, even as a kid. He just couldn’t figure out what exactly had made him believe that acting like he was above everyone else could get him anywhere at all. Of course he was aware of the futility of the act, now that he’d grown up and a few years had passed, but it turned out that knowing something on a rational level does not, in fact, equal being able to put it into practise.
… He knew why he was doing what he was doing, anyways. It had stopped being meanness for the sake of being mean when he knew he could get away with it and had stepped into habit territory. And he hadn’t been allowed to go to Duel Academy so that he could make friends who shared the same hobby. He had imagined that 3 years could go by in the blink of an eye if he got involved as little as possible. All that mattered was winning duels, right? And the last thing he needed in order to do that was to start caring about his opponent’s feelings, really.
The thing he hadn’t really considered was that, maybe, his winning streak wouldn’t last forever. He should have known that the outcome of a duel did not depend entirely on how driven one was. It was still fucking annoying to have to see everyone’s surprised- no, incredulous faces upon seeing him finally defeated. Finally, yes. Clearly people had been waiting for nothing more than to see him brought to his knees. It turned out they had firmly believed he had no actual merits outside of his family connections. They had their long-awaited confirmation. He’d lost a single fucking duel. Obviously he was nothing but a blowhard.
Well, good. Whatever. He couldn’t have cared less.
What did infuriate him, however, were the words that the idiot who’d defeated him had exclaimed, entirely unaware of the fact that he’d just completely crushed everything Manjoume had tried to build for himself.
“That was a fun duel! We have to do this again some time!”
He hadn’t cared to stay behind to listen to anything else the other had to say. The guy clearly hardly had a clue where he was or what he was studying to become. Who had allowed that moron to smile like that while trampling his pride? How the fuck had Manjoume let himself be defeated by someone like that?
May the fucker go to hell. Him and his dumb red uniform. Everyone in the Academy. They could fucking die for all he cared. And Manjoume would have probably laughed at the sight.
He really thought he would have. And yet.
As he was going over his deck, sitting with his back against a tree, doing his best to avoid anyone and everyone, he heard footsteps approaching, accompanied by two voices he felt he knew.
“Aniki, I still can’t believe you beat that guy- he’s an Obelisk Blue- and the top ranking first year at that!” … Is this- “He is? Well, that checks out, he was pretty tough.” That’s- Yuki Judai. No doubt about it. “But you beat him.” … Because that needed to be pointed out, how insightful. “Doesn’t everyone lose at least once?” No. “Not against Osiris Red students!” Exactly. “… Why does that even matter in the first place?” It just fucking does, asshole. “Because! A top student isn’t supposed to lose against just anyone, Aniki! I don’t think he took that well.” … Who the fuck would. “Why, though. He didn’t duel poorly or anything. We were pretty evenly matched, there shouldn’t be shame in that.” “Doesn’t that just make it worse?” “… Does it?”
He’d known they were about to pass him, but didn’t bother getting up or making it look like he hadn’t heard anything. He’d clearly been right about this Yuki guy. A complete idiot who clearly understood nothing of what it meant to be a duelist. He glared at the two as they walked by.
… Ah, so the other was Marufuji. A failure younger brother, much like him. How ironic. The boy looked absolutely devastated to see him, too. What, wasn’t expecting the woods to have ears, eyes and a blue uniform?
He furrowed his eyebrows as Yuki abandoned his carefree walking posture, disentangling his fingers from behind his nape and letting his arms drop to his sides. And then proceeded to point straight at him, as if he’d just seen a mythological creature prancing about. Tch.
“It’s Manju!”
… Was that supposed to be a joke? Why was his first thought that that would make for an awful pet name?
After a second of silence, he decided there would be no harm in responding as he usually would to his name being tossed around improperly. “It’s Man-jou-me,” he corrected, making it a point to hold a hand up to count the three syllables as he spelled them out. “In case you hadn’t noticed, I’m not actually food.”
Marufuji’s hands shot up to cover his face, at least he had the decency to be embarrassed for his friend. … But Yuki just laughed. “What! My name isn’t so forgettable that you’d just mistake it for dessert, asshole!” And laughed harder. “I-“ he paused to catch his breath. Manjoume looked on, entirely unimpressed. Hopefully. “Look- look, I’m not the best with names, I didn’t-“ a loud exhale. “I didn’t mean to make fun of you, I swear.” “… Sure you didn’t.” He tried to keep his voice as hostile as he could. But he… couldn’t fully bring himself to shut the guy down. He supposed his laughter was just contagious.
“Glad that’s settled!” He turned around to face a barely still present Marufuji. “See, Shou? The guy isn’t so bad!” Ah. Right. It had almost slipped his mind. “Aniki- please, I get it, there is no need-!”
“I’ll be winning the next one, anyways,” he said as he got up. And that, apparently, was enough to get both boys to gape uselessly. For half a second. Because before anything else could be said, Yuki shot him a thumbs up and a wide smile. “I’m counting on it, Manjoume!” He couldn’t stop himself from smirking back.
It didn’t take long for rumours to spread about a supposed rivalry between himself and Yuki Judai. It turned out that most off the students of the Academy had very little to do aside from gossiping about such things, which was honestly just a disappointment. Perhaps that was why Judai ended up growing on him, despite everything. While he wasn’t necessarily serious or studious by any means, he was… passionate. He meant it when he said that he was looking to have fun and, to an extent, it was admirable. Enjoy the game no matter the outcome. Easier said than done. But in a sense it was… pleasant to get along with and play against someone who was so different from him.
On one specific evening, they had ended up staying out, discussing strategies and dispensing sarcastic advice- or at least that was what Manjoume was doing. Judai actually seemed quite intent on asking how he’d built his deck and why he’d chosen certain card combos rather than others. They had had a match a few hours prior and Manjoume had surprised him with some new faces. Manjoume Jun was a lot of things and predictable wasn’t one of them. And if the way Judai’s face lit up whenever he pulled a surprise play was anything to go by… it was clearly a trait he appreciated immensely, which it was something that made him swell up with pride. To the point where, when switching out cards, he would often find himself thinking about what Judai’s reaction would look like upon the big reveal of his new strategy.
“It’s always my pleasure to be your lab rat, Manjoume.” The response came in the form of a light shove. “Oh shut up, I like testing out things and, clearly, so do you.” Judai’s laugh rang out, light and unintrusive. “You’re right about that, at least.”
They spent some minutes silently studying eachother’s decks. Manjoume had been about to comment on the card ratio, before Judai blurted out something that made him forget all about it. “We’re kind of like Yugi and Kaiba.” And then a necessary addition, judging by the urgency in his voice. “If they had been actual friends, that is.” … Huh. One of his eyebrows shot up. “Don’t tell me it’s because you win most of the times and I’m a stuck up asshole who also happens to be rich.” Judai laughed, as he always did. And it was only fair that after being shoved earlier he’d playfully punch Manjoume’s shoulder. “That could be one way to look at it, I guess.”
A small pause followed. And the increase in intensity of the sound of shuffling cards suggested that Judai was… nervous. “What I meant to say is that we’re rivals. Like them.” Majoume scoffed, without any actual bite, his eyes set on a Polymerisation copy. “That isn’t specific to them. Isn’t it just… normal? To have someone you want to defeat, I mean?” “Hah, so you admit I’m the role model you’re striving to overcome!” “I didn’t say anything of the sort, dumbass.” “… Well, for me… playing with you keeps the game fun.”
Manjoume actually looked away from the Elemental Heroes he’s been adamantly staring at. He turned to face Judai, who seemed to have been looking his way for some time.
He would do that a lot. Make a joke, get a snarky reply and immediately say something serious afterwards. What an idiot.
Fun he said, huh? “Not that it isn’t fun in and of itself, but it’s different, I guess. I find that I actually do want to win, when I’m up against you.” Judai’s hand moved to play with his bangs. “I didn’t think I’d ever think twice about a lost duel, but I… kind of do, now.”
“Oh yeah, sorry- Welcome to the magical world of normal people who don’t necessarily win every single time.” “You speak like I’m not the only one who’s beaten you.” “So do you, asshat.” Judai’s expression morphed back into a smile. “It’s refreshing to have a genuine challenge. If you were to quit I would probably lose my interest in playing, too.”
Ah. That part of the Yugi-Kaiba rivalry. He felt like he started to understand.
“Keep dreaming, Judai. I’m not quitting anytime soon. I vowed to never let you off the hook.”
He thought of what he could or should say next. A part of him suggested: ‘You make it fun for me, too.’ That wasn’t in his style, however.
“But I have to agree. I’d get really bored if winning were to become too easy. You’ll die before I allow you to quit, Judai.”

“Everybody inside!” One of the teachers call. “Let’s go, kids! We have a fun day ahead!”
You smile, watching the parents drop their kids in their classrooms. As per usual, you are waiting by the front door for your kids, having a quick word with each of the parents to calm them down. It is always the same, even though you’ve been teaching their kids for almost a year now– will they be okay? or call me if they need me! As a pre-school teacher, you are used to these kind of requests, and you only smile and assure them that everything will be okay.
“Okay,” You mutter, looking around the classroom and counting the children. “We’re only missing–“
“She’s here!”
Your head snaps to the side to see little Choi Minjae grabbing tightly onto a man’s neck as he runs into the school. Knowing for a fact that that is not her father nor her mother, you slowly approach the stranger, eyes trained on the little girl in his arms, looking for any sign of discomfort, but you see none. She looks pretty comfortable with him, so you smile, feeling a little more at ease.
“Good morning, Minjae-ah!” You say softly once she’s on the ground and next to you. Her shy giggle makes your heart warm up and you pat her head as she hugs your legs.
“Goo’ morning, Ms. Y/L/N,” She smiles and then looks back at the man. “Bye-bye, Uncle Yugyeom!”
He waves back and high-fives her with the promise of coming back to pick her up in five hours.
“I’m sorry for barging in like that,” He says looking at you with a light blush tainting his cheeks. “Youngjae called me thirty minutes ago and told me was caught up in the hospital and his wife has been away on a business trip and–“
“It’s completely okay,” You smile, trying to calm the ranting man down. “Next time, however, could you just ask that either Mr. Choi or Mrs. Choi call the principle and let him know that there will be another guardian coming?”
“Of course!” He smiles. “I’ll ask him as soon as I leave here. I’m Yugyeom, by the way. Kim Yugyeom.”
“I’m Y/N Y/L/N,” You shake his hand and look in the classroom, noticing that the kids are starting to get antsy. “I have to go, but it was a pleasure meeting you, Mr. Kim!”
He makes a face and laughs. “Yugyeom, please. I’m too young to be Mr. Kim.”
“Yugyeom, then,” You wave. “See you in a few hours when you come to pick Minjae up.”
“See you, teacher.”
You chuckle at the nickname and go inside, clapping your hands excitedly to get the children’s attention. It’s time to start the day. As always, the kids are incredible; there are a few fights here and there but nothing that interrupted with the flow of the classroom. What you love the most about teaching pre-school kids is seeing their development with basic understanding, starting to make sense of storytelling and memories. You love each of them with your whole heart, even if you had a few favorites. The bell signals the end of the school day and you smile, feeling exhausted but content.
“Good bye Ms. Y/N!” Some kids shout as they run to their waiting parents. You wave and watch as they get picked up by their guardians, always on the lookout for anyone that seems strange to one of the kids. You are leaning on the door, watching everyone go, when you feel a weak pull on your pants.
“Ms. Y/N?”
You look down to see Minjae hugging her yellow backpack tightly, eyes wide and confused.
“Yes?” You smile, crouching down to match her height.
“Where is daddy?” She asks, voice dying down in the end. You can hear the sadness of being left behind and you pet her head lightly.
“Daddy is working, Minjae-ah,” You say slowly. “Remember? Daddy brings babies to the world to make people happy! But your Uncle should be here soon, he said he’d come pick you up today.”
“Uncle Yugyeom?” She asks and you nod. “But Uncle Yugyeom works with daddy… so isn’t he busy, too?”
“Yugyeom is also a doctor?” To say you are surprised is an understatement. You knew that Minjae was smart, but her train of thought it a bit advanced for someone that’s only four.
“Yes,” She nods and sits down on the floor, pulling on your hand until you are seated too. “He takes care of the babies daddy brings into the world.”
Oh, so he’s a pediatrician?
“That’s nice, isn’t it?” You get up and bring her some paper and crayons. “What do you want to be when you grow up, Minjae-ah?”
“I want to be a doctor!” She says firmly and you assumed that would be her response. Her father is a doctor and everyone in her life seems to work in the medicine area. “But not like daddy, I don’t like babies. I want to be a doctor like Uncle Mark and Uncle Jaebeom.”
“And what do these uncles do?”
“They save people who are dying.”
You choke on air. “W-what?”
“I don’t want people to die, Ms. Y/N,” Minjae says with an odd softness to her voice. “So I want to save them.”
“That is very brave of you, Minjae,” You say and you hope, you really, really hope that in the future, when she is grown and haven’t thought of you in years, she’ll remember these words. “I’m really proud of you. I’m sure your parents and uncles are, too.”
“We are.”
Minjae is on her feet instantly, running to the tall man at the door. He is still wearing his white coat and you chuckle a bit, getting up from the floor, as he leans down to hug his niece; the hight difference making you coo in adorableness.
“I’m sorry for being late,” He sighs, and looks at you. “A patient ran late and–“
“It’s completely fine,” You nod at him. “She is a wonderful kid and we had a good time while waiting.”
“I see that,” He points at the drawings on the ground, where colors are mixed and matched. “Minjae always has a good time with you.”
“Oh, did she say that?” You ask, looking at the child resting on his lap. She giggles and nods.
“I did, I did!” Her little arms wave around and you laugh. “Can we go, now? I’m hungry…”
“Of course!” Yugyeom nods. “Thank you again, Y/N.”
“No problem,” You smile, waving. “She’s always welcome.”
“Oh! I already talked to the principal, by the way,” He says with a big smile. “I am not sure exactly when Youngjae will need me to come pick her up so they put me down as a permanent guardian.”
“That’s great, thank you for talking to him,” You smile.
“No problem! See you whenever Youngjae is busy!”
As they walk away, you can’t help but smile widely, thinking of this odd man and how you just know you’ll see him again. You also think about how much you want to see him again and you shake your head, laughing at your own foolishness.
No way a man like that is not already taken, you think starting to clean the classroom. And even if he wasn’t, he wouldn’t choose me, that’s for sure.
                                                         ——————————————
The things about accidents is that you never see them coming, but somehow, it’s always your fault. It’s supposed to be a simple painting exercise; you tell the kids that they can draw whatever they want– family members, friends, animals, shapes. It’s all up to them, and later, you’d put them all on the wall to let everyone see each other’s work.
Things go south when Jaemin, a very excited and energetic little boy, decides to grab the blue pain on the top shelf by himself. He’s usually like that and that’s why you always keep an eye on him, but today you are busy helping Mina with mixing blue and yellow to make the perfect green, and you don’t see Jaemin climbing on a chair and reaching for the heavy pot of paint. You make it fast enough to stop the whole thing from collapsing on top of the child, but he’s already crying from falling off the chair and hitting his head on the floor. In consequence, the cabinet falls on top of you, and you wince as pain shoots through your body, but you forget about it quick enough, pushing it back in its place and scooping Jaemin up in your arms.
“Are you okay?” You ask, hands softly roaming around his head, looking for any sing of blood, and thankfully you find none. Still worried, you call for a substitute teacher for a while so that you can take Jaemin to the nurse.
He’s still crying desperately once you get to the nurse’s office, but you don’t see the sweet old lady that is usually sitting by her desk; instead, there is a note of absence, and you can’t help but panic for a moment.
“What the f–“ You stop yourself before you scare the little boy even further, and you almost run to the principal’s office. “Sir, I need the guardians list.”
“What happened?!” He asks, alarmed. Chanyeol is a very competent worker and he deeply cares for the children under the care of the employees in the school, but he’s never been good with emergencies. “Oh my god, oh my god, oh–“
“Chanyeol,” You breathe out softly, trying to calm both males in the room. “I need the guardians list. Now.”
“Yeah– okay!” He is moving as quick as possible and soon enough you find what you need.
Kim Yugyeom.
The number is scribbled next to his name and you are quick to dial it, barely letting him speak before interrupting.
“Hello, this is Kim Yugy–“
“Yugyeom!” You call in relief. “I am so sorry to call you during work hours, but we had an accident and the nurse is not here and–“
“What happened?” H asks, and you hear some ruffling on the other side of the line.
“One of the kids fell on his head,” You mumble quickly, ashamed of yourself even though you know that it’s not your fault. “He won’t stop crying. I’m really sorry to be calling you, but Minjae mentioned you’re a pediatrician and the nurse is not here.”
“I’ll be there in ten.”
He got there in seven, along with Jaemin’s mother.
“What happened?” She asks rudely, looking at her crying son and then at you. Sighing, you pull her aside, allowing Yugyeom to rush to the crying kid.
“We were painting and Jaemin tried to reach for something on a high shelf,” You start to explain, knowing that nothing you say will change the way that this mother is looking at you– it’s all your fault, her eyes say. “He didn’t call for me and instead decided to climb on a chair. The cabinet fell and I was able to stop it from falling on him, but he fell off the chair and seems to have hit his head on the floor…”
“And where were you while all of that happened?!” She shouts, finger pointing directly to your face. You understand the anger, she’s a mother after all, but the disrespect starts to get to you and you have to take a deep breath.
“Ma’am,” You start calmly. “There are about fifteen kids in the classroom, and I try my best to watch over all of them, but it’s only me in there. I’m sorry that Jaemin got hurt, but I was helping other kids and–“
“You should’ve paid more attention to him!” She screams and at this point Chanyeol and Yugyeom are watching you two carefully. “He got hurt because of you!”
“Ma’am–“
“Is this what I pay this school for?!”
“You’re scaring your son.”
Everyone stops and looks at Yugyeom.
“Excuse me?” The mother mumbles, looking at her child as he hides behind the doctor’s legs.
“You are scaring your son,” Yugyeom repeats, voice soft yet serious. “You are deliberately disrespecting the woman he sees as authority in the classroom, and that he cherishes so much, and you are scaring him. I’ll have to ask you to control yourself.”
“And who the hell are you?!”
“Dr. Kim Yugyeom,” He offers her his card. “I know Ms. Y/N and she called me over to do an assessment of his condition. Your son is perfectly fine, ma’am, just scared. If it wasn’t for Ms. Y/N, however, I am not sure what could’ve happened.”
“Yu–“
“Now let me take a look at you,” He says, pulling you to his side and sitting you next to Jaemin. “I saw you flinching… please turn around and raise your shirt.”
“This is not appropriate in–“ You try to push him away but he’s bigger and stronger than you.
“I am here as a doctor and you are my patient,” He whispers so that no one besides you can hear him. “Now please, a cabinet fell on your back. It must’ve hurt.”
“Is my teacher hurt, Doctor?” Jaemin asks grabbing your hand as you allow Yugyeom to slightly raise your shirt.
“She is, a little bit,” He probes your skin and you recoil in pain. “But she is a strong woman and she protected you.”
“She really did!” Jaemin says excitingly. “Ms. Y/N ran really fast, mommy! She didn’t let the things fall on me.”
“You have cuts and bruises all over your back,” Yugyeom says after cleaning the injuries with rubbing alcohol. “What the hell was on that cabinet?”
“Books, paint, and other stuff,” You wince once again and only allow yourself to breath normally when he puts your shirt down.
“You’ll be fine, but you need to clean this once a day,” He sighs, turning you around to look at him. “Do you have anyone to help you?”
You hesitate, but end up nodding.
“Just in case your lying,” Yugyeom offers you his card and you take it. “You can call me. I promise I don’t bite.”
“But I might…” You whisper to yourself as he leaves, putting the card in your back pocket.
                                                        ——————————————
You don’t hear from or see Kim Yugyeom for the next week or so. Cleaning your back with the disinfectant is probably the hardest part of your day, but you manage. You keep working, if your back is constantly hurting when you pick kids up or when they accidentally hit you as they run by; you refused to stop because of a stupid injury.
It’s Friday and you just got home, and only after a steaming shower that you realize two things: you are craving ramen and you don’t have any at home. You quickly put on some shoes and make your way to the market nearby your apartment, walking slowly as you enjoy the cold air and the beautiful snow. You’ve always loved the winter and how comfortable the nights turned once it is cold; people are out on the street, huddled together, laughing as they enjoy warm snacks by the river. You smile sadly, overwhelmed with a sense of loneliness above everything else, and you enter the market.
“Ramen, ramen, ramen…” You mumble to yourself, trying to find the right isle to turn into.
“It’s the next isle,” Someone says from behind you and you quickly turn around, finding yourself face to face with Yugyeom carrying Minjae on his shoulders. “Hi.”
“Hello,” You say, amused with the view. “Here for ramen too?”
“Yeah, Minjae has been wanting some all day so…” He shrugs and the little girl giggles as she bounces on his shoulder.
“Hi Ms. Y/N!” She shouts and you wave. “Uncle Yugyeom, can I have some strawberry milk?”
“We can go get it after you chose your ramen,” Yugyeom says and smiles at you, nodding at the selection with his chin. “Which one for you?”
You laugh and chooses the jjajangmyeon flavor, already giddy with excitement to get home and eat this with some snacks.
“Good choice, good choice,” Yugyeom muses, a smirk playing on his lips. “But predictable.”
“Oh really?” You ask, squinting at him. His playful demeanor makes you join his antics. “What would you recommend then, Doctor?”
“Ah,” He looks up at Minjae and they do a weird exchange of glances, and they both look at you. “We all know nuclear ramen is much better.”
“My insides will melt if I eat nuclear ramen,” You gasp. “I can barely eat spicy tteokbokki!”
“Weak,” Minjae says, nodding to herself.
“Hey!” You say, laughing at the four-year-old.
“Uncle Mark told me that all the other uncles are weak because they can’t handle spicy food,” She explains. “And Uncle Mark is never wrong. That’s why he’s my favorite.”
“I thought I was your favorite?” Yugyeom gasps, removing her from his shoulders and carrying her in his lap.
Minjae shake her head. “It’s Uncle Mark.”
“That’s gotta hurt,” You mumble, eyes wide in surprise with how daring your student is. “Really.”
“But I love you, too,” She says, patting his head and wiggling to be put down. “I’ll go get the milk!”
“Yah!” Yugyeom shouts, still in shock. “I cannot believe this!”
“Honestly,” You sigh, patting his shoulder in an understanding manner. “Me neither. She talks about you so much that I definitely thought you were the favorite…”
He nods, and looks at the hand on his shoulder, bitting his lip.
“She talks about you, too, you know?”
You take a step back, retrieving the hand. “She does?”
“Oh yeah,” He laughs, and you love his laugh– it’s loud and vivid. “We all know about the pretty teacher.”
“The pretty teacher?” You echo, laughing incredulously. “Is that my official title?”
“Of course,” The two of you walk through the isles, looking for Minjae, and you see the way he looks at you sideways, hiding a smile. “It fits you.”
“I see,” You blush, looking down. “You fit your title, too.”
“And what’s that?”
“The big baby,” You giggle and walk ahead as you hear him gasping. “Let’s go, we need to find the small baby.”
“Yah!”
You leave, giggling like a teenager. The rest of what was supposed to be a quick trip to the market is surprisingly fun. You learn that Minjae is staying with Uncle Yugyeom for the weekend because it’s her parent’s wedding anniversary; you also learn that Yugyeom is putty in her hands, doing everything and anything that the child wants. What surprised you, though, is finding out that he is the youngest in his friend group, barely a year older than you– you thought he was way older than you, being a stablished doctor and all.
“I just focused,” He says when you asked him how he managed. “The rest just kind of fell in place…”
“Daddy says Uncle Yugyeom is really alone, and that is why he has so much time to take care of other people,” Minjae tries to whisper it to you, but he heard it. You know he did; his eyes are fixed on the ground, a sad smile forming on his lips. “He has the biggest heart, according to daddy. As big as him!”
You don’t know what to say to that, not really knowing how to make this situation less awkward for the man standing right next to you. He sighs and motions to the cashier.
“Let’s go, Minjae,” He mumbles, and something about him is different– gone. “Say goodbye to Ms. Y/N, we have to go home.”
“Or,” You say quickly, before you have time to convince yourself that this is a really bad idea. “You could be less alone and make me less alone by coming over and having ramen with me.”
His brows shoot up, mouth agape. “W-what?”
“You and Minjae!” You clarify, blushing wildly. “Not just you– I’d never! I’m not… I just meant you and Minjae. Company. For dinner. Tonight.”
“Can we?” Minjae jumps around her uncle, excited. “Pretty please, Uncle Yugyeom, can we go?”
“Are you sure?” He mumbles, still red from the previous misunderstanding. “We don’t want to impose.”
“She said you are lonely,” You say pointing to the kid. “And to be honest, so am I… It’ll be fun, I promise I don’t bite.”
He smiles. “Alright then. Let’s go pay.”
It’s a fight trying to pay for your own food once Yugyeom sets his mind on paying for you. We’re already eating at your place, is his argument. The least I can do is pay for the food. You roll your eyes and let him, but you promise to pay next time.
“Next time?” He mumbles, avoiding Minjae hearing him. “I like the sound of that…”
“The sound of what?” Minjae asks from behind you two and you grab the groceries and walk ahead, trying to escape the responsibility of having to explain to the little girl what ‘flirting’ is.
“Of seeing the pretty teacher again,” Yugyeom winks at the kid.
Minjae looks at you and then back at Yugyeom.
“You like my uncle?”
You choke on air.
“You like my teacher?”
“Yes.”
“Stop egging her on!” You hiss, slapping his shoulder.
“Then are you guys going to be like mommy and daddy?”
“Married?” You ask, still recovering from your shock.
“No,” Minjae shakes her head. “In love.”
And sometimes, like right now, you really think you’ve been lied to and that Minjae is actually a genius.
“I’m down,” Yugyeom says, picking her up.
“Seriously?” You joke, guiding them to your apartment. “I’m down?”
He groans. “At least I told her something.”
You two bicker all the way back, joking and laughing together. The night is, overall, a success. Minjae had a great time and you and Yugyeom managed to get to know each other better; but everything has an end and soon you are saying goodbye. Laughing softly, you open the door for a tired Yugyeom and a sleeping Minjae, kissing him in the cheek before he leaves.
“Thanks for today,” You smile. “It was really fun.”
“Are you free next week?” The question is quick and airy and you laugh, knowing just how nervous he is.
“I am, why?” You tease. “I was wondering if you’d like to get some dinner?” He asks. “Just you and I. Not ramen. Real dinner.”
“I’d love to,” You nod. “I’ll text you, I have your number.”
“I have yours too,” He chuckles. “You called me, remember?”
It takes a while, you two not managing to stop talking, but he leaves and you drag yourself to bed, sleeping peacefully and dreaming about the family you’ve never had– one that eats ramen on a cold Friday night sitting on the kitchen floor and playing children’s games.
                                                        ——————————————
One week is nothing. One week is nothing. One week is nothing. You repeat your mantra as many times as necessary to convince yourself that you are not anxious, not at all, nope. But the weekend feels like a week and the week feels like a month, and when Friday finally comes again, you even feel older. He doesn’t text you in the morning like he did on the other days, but it’s okay, you’ll see each other later. It’s with that mentality that you go through school hours, Minjae being delivered by her mom and picked up by her dad.
“Oh, good to see you again, Mr. Choi,” You smile at him, even though by now you are feeling dejected and confused. You’ve had no life signal from Yugyeom whatsoever, and you wonder if the date is still happening.
“That sounds like a lie,” Youngjae points out. “Hoping someone else would pick her up?”
“I don’t know what–“
“Yugyeom told me,” He laughs, looking at you. “I think you two will work out pretty well, to be honest. He needs someone kind and caring in his life.”
“How do you know if I’m kind and caring?” You ask, looking at him suspiciously.
“A little birdie told me,” He points at his daughter as she packs her bag. “She adores you, and apparently, the night you guys had at your apartment was ‘the best night of her life.’ You raised the bar up for me and her mom, Y/N, I gotta say…”
You laugh. “I’m glad she enjoyed it.”
“Yeah, and so did Yugy,” Youngjae shrugs. “He’s been crazy busy today, so don’t feel bad if he has to reschedule. There was a really bad accident involving a middle school bus and they have him on call until everything is sorted out… He’s really sorry. He didn’t tell me anything, but I know my dongsaeng… he’s probably beating himself over the fact that he is too busy.”
“Ah, there’s no need for that,” You say, understanding the situation even though you feel a bit disappointed. “I understand how stressful it must be–“
“You know,” Youngjae looks at his watch and then at you again. “He’s probably going to work the night shift as well.”
“Oh,” You deflate. “That’s okay.”
“Which means he’ll probably skip dinner,” Youngjae continues, offering you a pointed look.
“Oh.” You finally get it. “That’s not good.”
“It really isn’t,” Youngjae smiles and you laugh, impressed with the fakeness of his grin. “I’d go and bring him dinner, but I have to take care of Minjae tonight… oh, what will we do?”
“I guess I’ll just have to assume the responsibility,” You say, sighing in false defeat.
“I guess you will.”
“Daddy!” Minjae runs to her father and jumps in his arms. “Bye-bye Ms. Y/N!”
“Bye Minjae!” You wave and then smile at her father. "Thank you.”
“My pleasure.”
You have some time to kill before dinner time, so you walk back to your apartment, already thinking of all the things in your fridge and what could you try and make for the overworked doctor. In the end, you end up ordering from a nearby place, deciding it’s a better idea to give him something good that someone else cooked than the burnt food you tried to whip up.
The hospital is nearby and the taxi take advantage over the fact that traffic is not horrible. You anxiously bounce your leg as the nurses tell you to wait since he’s in a surgery and will be back shortly. They smile warmly at you, noticing the food in your hands and the nervous look on your face.
“Dr. Kim will be really thankful,” One of them say. “It’s been a really bad day.”
“I’ve heard,” You nod, deep in thought. “I don’t want to intrude, though, so maybe it would be better to leave this here with you?”
“He’ll surely appreciate the company, ma’am,” She winks at you. “Dr. Kim tends to get really emotional with severe cases like this, and unlike his hyungs, there is never anyone waiting for him in his office after a hard surgery or a bad consultation.”
“Ah… he seems lonely,” You mutter to yourself.
“He is,” The nurse smiles. “And it’s really sad to see such a good person alone.”
“It really is,” You sigh. “Would it be possible for me to wait in his office?”
Looking at both ways in the hallway, the nurse motions for you to follow her.
“Don’t tell anyone I’m doing this,” She giggles. “But Yugyeom deserves to have someone waiting for him, too.”
“Are you two friends?” You smile, thankful for her.
“I’m his main nurse,” She nods. “We’ve been working together for a while… friendship is bound to happen.”
“I’m glad he has you looking after him,” And you really are; it makes you feel less worried knowing that his coworkers are supporting him.
“I have to go,” She looks at her phone. “He’s out of surgery, so he’ll be here any time now. Enjoy your meal!”
You wait. And wait. And wait. And just when you feel like you might bolt and leave him a note, the door slams open, a frustrated Yugyeom entering the room with red, puffy eyes and disheveled hair. His blue scrubs is wet with sweat and he is sniffling, hand furiously rubbing his eyes.
“Oh my god, are you alright?” You shoot out of your chair and run to him, hands grabbing his and pulling them down next to his body. “Are you crying?”
Yugyeom blinks a couple of times and then looks at the food, and then back at you.
“Y/N?” Even his voice is gruff and used. “What are you doing here?”
“I–I heard about the accident,” You gulp, suddenly in the spotlight. “And I thought you’d skip dinner… so I brought you some.”
“I’m so sorry,” He sighs and his shoulders drop in disappointment. “I completely forgot to text you; it’s just been hectic today and I–“
“It’s okay!” You say a little too loud and he flinched. “It’s completely okay, just… just tell me, are you okay? You look like you’ve been crying.”
“Me?” He goes around his table, sitting down and opening a drawer. He pulls his phone, looking at himself in the camera. “Oh. No. I mean, yes, I’m okay; no, I haven’t been crying. I just didn’t have time to take my allergy medication and it started acting up in the middle of a surgery, so this is why I look like this. Sorry.”
“Nothing to apologize for,” You smile relieved. “Hungry?”
His eyes are trained on you as you start pulling out the food, and before you can sit down he grabs your wrist, hands pulling you to him. One of his arms goes around your waist, holding you close, and the other holds your hand, and you only feel his tension once he rests his forehead on your stomach, your body frozen in between his open legs. Yugyeom sighs, and deposits your hand on his head, silently asking for scratches, like kids sometimes do.
“Starving,” He mumbles. “But exhausted.”
“You need to eat,” You say softly, not wanting to ruin the intimate atmosphere in the room. “And then I’ll leave and you can nap.”
“Stay,” He yawns. “If you don’t mind, stay. I’ve been super excited for our date and now I just feel like shit that I couldn’t make it.”
“Says who?” You chuckle, pulling away and ignoring his whines. You sit in front of him. “This looks like a date to me.”
“You deserve better,” He’s so serious that you move a little, uncomfortable with the weight on your shoulders. “A lot better.”
“But I want this,” You giggle. “A take-out dinner with the big baby.”
“Must you refer to me that why?” He asks dramatically.
“Yes,” You say and pushes some noodles in his direction. “Now eat.”
You don’t remember falling asleep in his tiny couch, but you will never forget waking up squished in his arms.
                                                        ——————————————
I owe you a proper date. Let me take you out tomorrow.
Today is the tomorrow Yugyeom talked about and yet, nothing from him. You didn’t really expect much, but you expected something. You understand that his job is urgent and demanding, but so is Youngjae’s and he manages to balance social and work life. Because you don’t work during the weekends, it’s pretty much just you and Netflix today, and with the selfish anger that bubbles inside, you decide that Criminal Minds is just the right amount of violence for you. The torrential rain outside makes it so that you have the perfect mood for a chill Netflix night, even if that’s not what you wanted to begin with.
Don’t be an idiot, Y/N, you think to yourself, walking to the kitchen to make some popcorn. You want something that no one can give you.
As you make enough food for one, in your apartment big enough for one, you wonder just how much longer will you yearn for something that might not even exist. The Perfect Family is something that you’ve always wanted, ever since you were in middle school and your mom left; ever since you were in high school and your dad died; ever since you got to college and truly were completely alone. You had few friends, but you weren’t close enough to any of them to count on them when things got tough. But you always had the kids; you used to volunteer at a pre-school nearby and even when they’re small, kids are incredibly perceptive. They give love without expecting anything in return, and you love that. You love it so much you decided to become a pre-school teacher.
The TV is playing but you can’t seem to process anything that’s happening, eyes focused on your phone in hopes of… what? A sign of life? A rejection? An excuse? Even you didn’t know.
“Ah,” You sigh, pushing your hair back. “Forget it, Y/N, forget it.”
And then, right as you finally give up for good, your phone rings.
Kim Yugyeom.
You scramble to pick up, not really caring about petty vengeance and making him wait.
“Hello?” You sound airy and worried.
“Y/N?” He calls, and you can hear the rain outside. “Thank god you picked up– can you open the door for me? I’m outside your building and there’s a code and it’s raining so hard.”
“You’re here?!” You shriek, running to the door, forgetting all about shoes, and running the three floors down the stairs, only to come face to face with a soaking wet Yugyeom. “Holy shit!”
He laughs, loudly, and waves through the glass door. You let him in, quickly pushing him to the stairs again, deciding it’s the fastest way, and into your apartment, where you shove him in the bathroom and gives him towels and your largest sweatpants and t-shirt.
“Hey, hey, hey,” He chuckles, wet hands on your shoulder. “Calm down… I’m okay. It’s alright.”
“You’re going to get sick!” You frown. “Get out of those clothes, they are all– why are you wearing a suit?”
You finally notice everything you didn’t see before. His hands, pale white and shaking, but firmly holding onto what you assumed used to be a really beautiful flower bouquet, now only having a few flowers left; you notice his formal wear, his beautiful black suit and blue shirt; and you notice his smile, sad and embarrassed, eyes looking at you carefully.
“It was supposed to be a surprise,” He laughs humorlessly. “I even let everyone in the hospital know that I’d be busy and they are to call the other doctors in case of emergency… but I wasn’t counting on getting caught in the rain on my way over. These are all ruined, now, I’m sorry.”
He gives you the flowers and you cover your mouth, trying to hide your shock.
“I’m sorry, Y/N,” Yugyeom sighs. “I seem to keep messing up when I’m with you. When I’m with you I feel like a child and I guess I just keep embarrassing myself further…”
“Well, you are the big baby,” You joke, looking at him whine and stomp his feet on the ground. “Thank you. For these. I doesn’t matter that they are all wet, or that you are all wet– what counts is the thought, and you had me in your mind all this time. Thank you.”
“That’s such a childlike response,” He mumbles, surely not for you to hear, but you do nonetheless.
“Oh, really, Mr. I Feel Like A Child Next To You?” You squint.
“That was supposed to be romantic!”
“Stop whining and go take a shower,” You roll your eyes, sniffling a laugh. “I’ll go get something, but I’ll be right back.”
You run to and from the market, your umbrella barely holding on against the heavy rain. When you get back in your apartment, Yugyeom is sitting on the couch; the pants are too short and the t-shirt is too big, and you can’t help but giggle, thinking that he really does look like a kid.
“Where did you go?” He follows you to the kitchen and you don’t answer, choosing to simply show him the packages of ramen, wiggling your brows. “Ah, you’re the best, Y/N!”
“Thank you, thank you.”
Cooking is fun; Yugyeom is right behind you, his front glued to your back and you are flustered– so flustered that you almost drop the boiling water all over yourself. After a worried lecture from Doctor Kim about being careful, he assumes the position of main chef and finishes making the simple ramen. As he is putting everything in the bowl, you decided to just fuck it and you allow yourself to circle his waist with your arms, hugging him to you.
“Yah,” He says softly, putting both his hands over yours. “I need to finish here.”
“Just give me a minute,” You mumble, hiding your face in his back even though he can’t see you. “I’m happy.”
You feel him turn around. “Me too.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah,” He smiles, grabbing your face and pulling it closer to his. “I like you.”
“I like you, too,” You giggle, blushing furiously. “Oh my god, we’re such children.”
“Makes sense,” He snorts. “We both spend all of our days with kids.”
“But we’re adults,” Your argue, getting on your tippy toes.
“Thank god for that,” He smiles. “Now come here.”
He kisses you chastely, and you start to wonder just how innocent Yugyeom really is; but those thoughts soon vanish. He pulls you closer and that’s when he starts really kissing you; hie height overpowering you, body leaning over yours to get closer, as if that was possible. You are not sure how long you two make out for, but when you finally pull away, needing a pause to breath, the noodles are crumbling from how soggy they turned.
“No!” You shout, pushing him away and moving to the food. “Our dinner…”
“We can order in,” He mumbles, pulling you back to him. “Now come back here.”
“Control yourself,” You look at him, avoiding his puckered lips. “You fooled me… you’re no child, you’re a horny teenager.”
“Are you serious?” He rests his head on top of yours, giving up and just hugging you. “You looked like you were enjoying it a lot, you know jus–”
You slap a hand over his mouth. “Stop it!”
“You’re so cute,” He pinches your cheeks. “Getting embarrassed with things like that!”
“You say as if you don’t get embarrassed,” You poke his nose and walk to the living room. “What should we order?”
“Sweet and sour pork?” He suggests, sitting next to you, and you nod excitingly.
The rest of the night is a mix of kissing and talking. You learn all about Yugyeom hyungs and how close they all are, and in return, you tell him all about you; family, friends, past, present, and hopeful future. He nods and caresses your hand as you talk, and when you two fall asleep, once again in the couch, you feel happy and content. You feel safe.
                                                        ——————————————
“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” You say, grabbing his hand and not letting him get out of the car.
“What do you mean?” He questions, smiling. “It’s the best idea.”
“Yugyeom, what if they hate me?” You whisper, looking at your boyfriend with wide eyes.
“… what?” He bursts out laughing.
“I’m serious! What if they hate me? What if Minjae doesn’t like it? What if the other kids bully me?” You ramble on.
“Y/N, these are just my friends,” He says, bringing your hand to his lips and giving it a kiss. “You don’t have to be nervous. They’ll love you. I mean, Youngjae and his wife already do.”
“Oh my god, oh my god, I’m so nervous,” You mumble to yourself, following him out of the car and inside the house.
“They’re here!”
You barely see her, but when Minjae jumps on you, you are ready to catch her instinctively.
“Hi Ms. Y/N!” She shouts, arms around your neck.
“Hi, sweetie,” You smile, feeling yourself calm down.
“I missed you!”
“We saw each other this morning,” You chuckle.
“Yeah, but now we can see each other more because you and Uncle Yugyeom are like mommy and daddy!” She says and you remember her previous words. “Can you sleep over? Can you babysit me? Can we play?”
She wiggles to be put down and grabs your hand, leading you through the house and introducing you to everyone. That’s Uncle Jaebeom and his wife, and that’s daddy and mommy, and that’s Uncle Bambam and his girlfriend, and that’s Uncle Jackson– his girlfriend couldn’t come because she is punching people.
“She’s a professional MMA fighter, Minjae-ah,” Jackson explains with a smile. “Not a gangster.”
“And this,” She tugs you to a tall man sitting next to a beautiful woman. “Is Uncle Mark! He’s my favorite, but I can share with you and he can be your favorite, too!”
“YAH!”
You all look at Yugyeom, face red and frowning.
“I’m her favorite!” He pouts.
“Uncle Yugyeom,” Minjae sighs. “You’re such a big baby.”
They start to bicker and you smile, watching your boyfriend debating with a four-year-old, and thinking that you might have just found what you always wanted.
This could be my family.

maybe them playing video games at yugi's place after school?
so i know this is three days late, but in my defense, i wanted it to be good, and election stress, and also i finished it yesterday but didn’t want to post it because of, you know. everything. however, i have finally finished, and i bring you: wishshipping where they’re playing video games, but it’s also a first kiss story :) (g-rated!) thanks again for the prompt!!
Having a best friend that lived above a game shop came with certain benefits, Jonouchi thought as he sat down on Yugi’s bed, N64 controller in hand. The one he was most concerned with at the moment was Kame Game’s early access to the latest video games, and the fact that Yugi almost always got a free copy of any game he wanted from his grandpa as soon as they came in. As such, the only reason he was at Yugi’s house was to play the new Nintendo fighting game (named Super Smash Bros, of all things), no matter what Anzu tried to insinuate as she saw the two of them walking in the same direction after school.
“Hey! Did it boot up okay?” Jonouchi nearly jumped out of his skin at the sound of Yugi’s voice, but relaxed when he saw him in the doorframe, balancing two bags of chips and a two-liter of soda in his arms.
“Yeah, it’s ready whenever we are,” Jonouchi replied, before standing up and taking one of the bags and the two-liter from Yugi to set them on the coffee table in front of the small television. Yugi smiled gratefully, and Jonouchi carefully ignored the skipped beat of his heart as he watched Yugi set the remaining bag down. He was only here for Super Smash Bros. Nothing more.
“Ah, thanks, Jonouchi.” Yugi’s face was red, and he rubbed the back of his neck as he spoke. Jonouchi found himself fixated on the violet of his eyes, the movements of his muscles, the blush of his cheeks, even as he tried to put it aside and focus on the character-select screen. “Well, should we get started?” Yugi asked, clapping his hands together as he sat down on the bed entirely too close for Jonouchi’s liking.
“Sure thing, Yug’. What character do you want?” The urge to toss his arm over Yugi’s shoulders was almost too great to ignore, but he managed to push it down, instead swallowing and moving the joystick over the character portraits in a circle.
Yugi hummed, opening a bag of chips before grabbing his own controller. “I want…” he said, before selecting his character, with a cry of, “Kirby!” He reached into the bag of chips and popped a handful into his mouth, then, chewing at Jonouchi as though it were meant to be triumphant. Mostly, Jonouchi thought Yugi looked silly – and yet, whenever Yugi looked silly, he looked cute, so he couldn’t quite complain.
“The marshmallow, I should have known,” he said instead, arching an eyebrow at Yugi, who immediately erupted into laughter.
“Hey, don’t underestimate the marshmallow!” Yugi fixed Jonouchi with a stare that was surely meant to be intimidating, but was contradicted by the laughter sparkling in his eyes, and the twitch of his cheeks as he tried to keep them from smiling. “I can beat you with Kirby nine times out of ten, no doubt!”
“We’ll see about that!” Jonouchi laughed, selecting Link after not much thought. The guy’s got a cool sword, what could he say? Yugi hit the start button, and selected the first stage – thank goodness for that, Jonouchi had to figure out how the game worked before trying anything too crazy! After a brief loading screen, the game counted them down from three, and they were off.
***
“And that’s another win for me!” Yugi set his controller down and flung his arms into the air, eyes squeezed nearly shut from his smile as Kirby smiled from his first-place position, Link clapping politely in the background. “Yugi five, Jonouchi zero,” he continued, doing a seated victory dance that did little more than shake the bed underneath them.
Jonouchi only looked at the victory screen on the television for a moment before his gaze was drawn back to Yugi, unable to resist the magnetic pull of his bright smile. He didn’t much like losing, but it was worth it if he could see Yugi smile like that. “Guess I’m gonna need more time to get the hang of this game than you, huh?” he said, unable to keep the fondness out of his tone. “What’s your secret? How are you so good at everything you do?”
Yugi turned to look at him, then, cheeks immediately turning pink, which was cuter than it had any right to be. “Quit messing around, Jonouchi. There are plenty of things I’m not good at!” There was still laughter in his tone, like he was making a joke, but the way he rubbed the back of his neck told Jonouchi there was more going on.
“I wouldn’t joke about something like that! C’mon, you’re the closest thing to perfect I’ve ever seen.” Jonouchi put his hand on Yugi’s shoulder and shook it lightly. Yugi’s cheeks flushed even darker; whether it was because of the compliment or the physical contact, Jonouchi couldn’t be sure. He didn’t reply, choosing instead to stare at his lap and keep rubbing his neck. Jonouchi’s eyes narrowed; that had to stop. Without thinking, he grabbed Yugi’s hand and brought it to rest in the space between them, rubbing the back lightly with his own thumb to help comfort Yugi. “Hey, need me to run down a list?”
Yugi ducked his head, further avoiding eye contact, speaking his next words to the carpet. Jonouchi had to pause for a moment to fully comprehend what he said – it was always tougher for him to understand what people were saying if he couldn’t see their mouth move – but eventually he managed to process it. “No, you’re fine, I get it. You see me differently than I see myself, I guess.”
“Well that’s a shame, because I wish you saw yourself how I see you!” Jonouchi began holding Yugi’s hand with both of his, ducking his head so that he could see Yugi’s eyes under his bangs. “When I see you, I see the smart, brave, compassionate person who stood up for a no-good bully, even though he got beat up in the process.” Yugi opened his mouth to respond, but Jonouchi cut him off. “And I know you’re about to defend me, say that I was just trying to make you a man, or that I didn’t know what I was doing, and that’s the thing, Yug’! You always look for the good in people, no matter how deep you have to dig to find it. You have the biggest heart of anyone I’ve ever met, and it’s all focused toward other people. When are you going to find compassion for yourself?” He squeezed Yugi’s hand a little tighter, which made Yugi finally look up toward him, wide, violet eyes shiny with unshed tears. Jonouchi felt like his heart would burst at the sight, so he squeezed tighter still, until Yugi brought his neglected hand to join the other, squeezing back.
“I think I prefer to hear it from you,” Yugi finally responded, voice thick with the tears he had yet to shed. But he was smiling, now, and that made Jonouchi so happy, he didn’t think twice about leaning forward to close the distance between them and kissing Yugi.
As far as first kisses went, it could have been better. The way they were sitting, side-by-side on Yugi’s bed a foot apart, made the angle awkward, especially since Jonouchi refused to let go of Yugi’s hands. Not to mention, the way Jonouchi had rushed in made the press of lips hard and unyielding, and Yugi had gone stiff at their first touch. When Jonouchi pulled away, it was with regret, fear – had he ruined their friendship forever? “I’m sorry, Yug’, I didn’t –”
“Let’s try that again,” Yugi interrupted, pulling his hands free and scooting close enough that his shoulders and thighs were touching Jonouchi’s. He cradled Jonouchi’s face with a hand, and Jonouchi knew he must have gone wide-eyed, because Yugi laughed. Finally, he leaned in, and captured Jonouchi’s lips in a much gentler, less impulsive kiss. Jonouchi melted into the contact, reciprocating as best he could, before they both pulled away. Yugi looked fit to burst with happiness, despite the lingering tears in his eyes, and Jonouchi couldn’t keep the dopey grin off his face.
“Man, and you really think you aren’t good at everything? ‘Cause you keep adding to the list!” Jonouchi laughed, brushing a stray bang out of Yugi’s eyes. Yugi glared at him, but it was playful, and he combed his hand through Jonouchi’s hair as well. “Seriously, that was the best kiss I ever had! You oughta teach classes on this, I’m not kidding.”
Yugi raised an eyebrow at that. “Oh? You want me to kiss other people?” Jonouchi stared at him for a second, again taking time to process, before spluttering and taking things back. Yugi just laughed, and interrupted him with another kiss. “I’m just kidding, Jonouchi. If you’ll have me, I’m yours.”
Time froze around Jonouchi, the world reduced to nothing but him and Yugi. If he could, he would have sprinted out the door and ran through the streets of Domino, proclaiming that Yugi was his. As it was, though, all he could say was, “Yeah, of course. And I’m yours too.” Then, he kissed Yugi again, just because he could. And if pieces of Kirby’s victory screen were burnt into the television screen for some time afterwards, well, who could blame them for forgetting to turn the game off?

A Picture Perfect Ending
A Picture Perfect Ending
Hello! I recently fell in love with this beautiful artwork by the awesome @kiri1205 and I was just so inspired to write a fanfiction on it. I haven’t done one in a while but now was a good time since I had inspiration. If you’re going to read it, I recommend don’t look at the beautiful picture until afterwards or spoiler.
Warning: I wanted to finish this fast so I didn’t get a chance to really give a good look at it. Will edit on AO3 version another day.
Summary: It was a picture perfect ending. Nene was graduating and getting married to Amane. But Hanako....
An alternate ending to the Picture Perfect Arc
Read on AO3: A Picture Perfect Ending
Read on FF.Net: Coming soon
It was graduation day in Kamome Gakuen. The third years were getting ready to graduate as pictures were being taken and everyone was celebrating. Nene held her diploma in her hands as she went to find her friends.
“Daikon-senpai congratulations” Mitsuba said as he handed her a bouquet of flowers.
“Senpai!!!! I’m so glad!!!” Kou cried.
“Ehehe thank you!” Nene laughed as she accepted the flowers from her two underclassmen.
“Nothing for me?” Amane asked as he held his girlfriend’s hand.
It has been 3 years since Nene met Yugi Amane in the high school division but to Nene it felt almost shorter. It was almost 3 summers ago when Amane took her out on a date to watch a movie and since then, they have continued to date. It was awkward in the beginning but they made it work.
“We have nothing to say to a traitor leaving us” Mitsuba pouted.
“Don’t say that. I’m only going to be in a different school from everyone else. I’m still going to be in the neighborhood and will visit the school. We will still be together”
It was Amane’s dream to become an astronaut and visit space. Even with his grades, he able to graduate and get into a college that specialized in aerospace and astronomy. It was different from what everyone else was aiming for but everyone agreed that he should chase his dreams. With a few more years of effort he would definitely make his dream come true.
“AMANE! WE GRADUATED!” a voice shouted as a whirl came crashing onto Amane and he did a double take.
“Tsukasa, you’re a bit heavier now you know”
“But but but”
As the group chatted, they were approached by a different group.
“Nene-chan what are you doing over here?” Aoi asked.
“It’s almost time for the graduates to move towards to the next location” Akane followed up.
“Its fine isn’t it?” Yamabuki added. “This is a day to remember. We should enjoy every moment”
The group continued to chat with the underclassmen giving their congratulations to the upper. Over the years, the group had been inseparable. It was hard to believe that soon they would part with graduation.
Amane looked over at Nene. “Um Yashiro, can you come with me for a little bit” he asked nervously as he slowly pulled his girlfriend away from the rowdy crowd and whispered in her ear.
Nene was confused but followed her boyfriend near the gates of the school. The rest of their friends eyeing them as they left. They stopped by a tree and Amane let go of her hands.
“Amane-kun, what’s wrong?” Nene asked as her boyfriend’s back continued to face her.
“Yashiro…we’ve been together for 3 years and we are going to enter college soon. Our colleges will be different so I won’t be together with you as often as I like. Don’t go looking at other guys during that time” he joked.
“I’m not going to do that!” Yashiro exclaimed.
Amane looked down. “But even so, there’s something I need to tell you. After college…will you…”
He turned around. His embarrassed yet nervous face under the tree almost looked very familiar but before she can recall where she’s seen it, Amane grabbed her by the shoulders.
“I love you, please marry me”
Nene was shocked to say the least. She was so surprised she couldn’t even utter a sound. It was quiet for some time minus the gasps they heard from far away.
“Um Yashiro-san?”
“Yes” she worded slowly. “Yes, I’ll marry you!” she said as she hugged him. Never in her life did she think she’ll get a proposal with her luck in love but everything changed when she met Amane.
“It’s going to be a little while longer until I can provide a ring for you”
“I don’t mind. Let’s spend our lives together” she said.
“Then…until then, please take this” he said as he held something out.
Nene held out her hand and what dropped down was a button. The second button from his uniform to be exact.
Nene blushed as she held out the button tightly to her chest.
~~~~
“Hey don’t push” Yamabuki groaned.
“But I want to see what Amane’s doing!” Tsukasa exclaimed.
“Now’s not the time to bother WAHHH!”
Nene and Amane turned around to see all their friends falling down from another tree nearby.
“Ah…we ruined the moment” Aoi sighed with a hand on her cheek.
“It was Tsukasa’s fault” Mitsuba exclaimed.
“If we were lucky, we could’ve seen them kiss. That will definitely make social media” Yamabuki commented as he held up his phone to snap a picture of the surprised couple.
“Anyways, congratulations Nene-chan!” she said happily as she approached Nene and clasped her hands. “With this you are one step closer to your dream as well”
“It was almost a perfect proposal wasn’t it” Akane said as he patted Amane on the back. “It’s too bad your brother had to ruin it”
“I didn’t do anything right Amane?” Tsukasa innocently claimed as he hugged his brother.
“Tsukasa…”
The group continued to joke around with their comments of “don’t forget to invite me to the wedding” and “The ruined proposal is now going to cost you your marriage”.
“Hmm, it’s a shame Nene-chan’s proposal got ruined. It was her first one too” Aoi pouted.
“Yeah unlike someone who gets proposed to everyday” Yamabuki joked as he jabbed at Akane.
“Um Aoi-chan will you”
“-10 points”
“Why!?”
“Akane-kun, that’s bad in taste. A double proposal only works if it happens at the same time and is planned. Doing it after Nene’s ruined proposal is in bad taste”
Akane cried as the rest of the group laughed in pity.
“I understand Aoi-chan! For you, I will help them make amends” Akane exclaimed. “Yugi-kun! Come here” he said as he dragged him away.
“Eh!?” Amane exclaimed as he was pulled away with Tsukasa and Lemon following them curiously.
“Where are they going?” Nene wondered. “I think I know” Aoi smiled. Let’s get you ready as well”
“Get ready for what?”
In just a few brief moments, Akane had returned with Amane. Akane had combed Amane’s hair back and added a blazer to his attire.
“Aoi-chan, I have returned with the groom”
“Good job Akane-kun” she said revealing Nene. Aoi had quickly modified Nene’s uniform slightly and added a veil to her hair with the help of flowers their kouhais had given her. Nene held the remaining bouquet in her hands blushing as the group pushed them closer together.
“With this the proposal is complete” Akane said.
“Not bad” Yamabuki said as he readied his camera. “I need to tweet about this” and aimed his camera at the blushing couple.
“How…how does it look” Nene asked nervously.
“You look…nice” Amane blushed.
“Only nice?”
“You look lovely. Too lovely. I don’t know how I’m going to wait all those years to marry you”. He turned away with a large blush.
Nene smiled. “I can’t wait either”.
“I love you Nene” Amane said.
“!! You…you finally called me by my first name” Nene blushed.
Amane picked her up and twirled her with a smile. “And I will continue to call you by that because you are going to be Yugi Nene”
“Let’s be together forever Amane-kun”
“Yes, let’s be together forever”
________
Hanako stared at the painting of the happy couple. He had just finished defeating another supernatural running amok and restoring balance in the school. Without his assistant it has become harder but he was able to manage.
It’s been almost a year, maybe more, since he had succeeded in keeping his friends in the Number 4's painting. He had lost count exactly how long it has been but it didn’t matter. Yashiro had lived past her life expectancy of a year and that’s all that mattered.
She was alive and happy. Happy with him.
He stared at the painting, at himself.
She was happy with him. She had went on the date with him and became they became a couple. She was wearing the makeshift wedding dress with him as the groom.They were going to get married. The effort of asking her out to the movies was worth it.
But that wasn’t him. That was Yugi Amane.
Yugi Amane, the boy who would soon become an astronaut and had plans on marrying Yashiro Nene. The one who lived with Tsukasa happily, attended classes normally, and had tons of friends. The one who was alive, could leave the school, and could give her everything.
It’s fine. Yashiro likes him. He was Yugi Amane.
But he wasn’t Yugi Amane. At least not anymore. He was Hanako of the Toilet. She liked Yugi Amane. Yugi Amane, the gentleman. Hanako was forgotten. There was no Hanako-kun in her heart...or her memory.
But that was fine. He didn’t care about anyone. There was no future with him but Yugi Amane could give her everything.
“Yashiro...” he muttered as he collapsed onto the floor still staring at the painting.
“Back again Honorable Number 7?” a voice chimed.
Hanako discreetly put on his stoic face and turned to the 4th rumor. The one who made it possible for Yashiro to live on.
“While I am glad that you are actively keeping your patronage, I really wish you would stop visiting the tower when I step away” she said.
“Just making sure you are doing your job” he said as he got up. “As we had agreed, you keep painting and I will keep all the supernaturals at bay in your domain”
Mei secretly glared at Hanako.
“What do you think of the recent events” she said with a smile as she gestured to the painting of the wedding. “I think this turned out pretty well. How would you like the real wedding to go? Should we make it possible to marry in space? I think that will be pretty”
She was taunting him, he knew it but he couldn’t help but glare at her. One false move and she could easily turn Yashiro’s happy life into a sad one. Even if she was alive, it wouldn’t mean anything if she wasn’t happy. Wordlessly, he left her boundary.
“Do come again” he heard her say.
~~~~
Outside number 4’s boundary he was greeted with Number 1 and the boy’s brother. Since the two’s entrapment inside the world of the painting the rest of the world had forgotten about the two except those with power. Teru was not happy to learn what happened to his precious younger brother and had fought to get him back. Hanako had almost lost if it wasn’t for Number 4’s interference. Even the strongest exorcist would not be able to fight against multiple rumors, especially in their domain. Hanako may have a seal but Shijima Mei did not.
Number 1 glared at Hanako with disgust. After multiple loss attempts, sometimes with someone bringing attention to Teru with a shout of “The president is looking for a girlfriend”, Teru had roped the Vice President into this confrontations. Akane had preferred not to be involved with the perverted rumor but with Teru’s threats how Aoi was no longer the same without her best friend he voluntarily started helping Teru in his quest to help to retrieving the two.
“You two are here again?” Hanako said energetically. “Don’t you two get tired?”
“Honorable number 7, please let us through” Akane said. “We will retrieve Yashiro-san and the President's brother.”
“NOPE~” Hanako responded. “No matter how many times you come here the outcome will be the same. “I will not let you two interfere with Number 4’s work”
“Though it’s unfortunate about Yashiro’s life, Aoi-kun will be here to help with that. Why keep everyone in the fake world when he’s willing to help in the real” Teru responded.
The thought of Yashiro coming out of the painting only for fate to work its magic scared him. He wasn’t taking the risk even with Number 1’s help. After all, Number 1 still wasn’t as experienced with his power and was still limited to the school property. Yashiro would never be able to leave the premises.
“Nope. That is unnecessary. Everything has been taken care of”
“So you’re happy with Yashiro-san being with someone not you?” Number 1 interjected.
“This conversation is over” Hanako responded as he pulled out his knife. The three assumed battle position, neither side relenting to back down.
A bang and a scream started the three. “A Monster!” a voice cried.
Hakujoudai told Hanako about what was happening. “Another one?” he muttered as he ran towards the source.
The two student council members followed in case they needed to ensure student safety from the supernatural.
“So you’re happy with Yashiro-san being with someone not you?”
Of course he wasn’t but what else could he do?
“You finally called me by my first name”
In the end, he never called her by her first name...and now....he didn’t have the right to. It was a glimpse of a dream, a dream that can never come true.
The price of borrowing a supernatural’s power meant you will lose something in return and Hanako had paid the price.

hello there! your writing is amazing so i was wondring if you could do a tbhk x reader💙💙i was thinking a s/o with really bad social anxiety like.. really bad and they just feel so different because they can see others effortlessly speaking about their presentations or see their classmates confidently performing in drama class. one day a teacher makes a rude comment on it and it just sends them into panic . i struggle with anxiety like this and i need my boy tsukasa and others to comfort me💜💙
tsukasa yugi x gn!reader, kou minamoto x gn!reader, (alive!) mitsuba sousuke x gn!reader
a/n: hihi!! thank you so much for the compliment, and sure thing! i do hope youre doing well, because i know from experience how crippling anxiety can be :(( rude, inconsiderate people like that only make things worse- but!! Tho i can’t do much, i hope these are at least a bit comforting!! You only specified tsukasa, so i threw in a few personal favorites as well, i hope that’s alright <33 if you’d like anyone else, simply let me know! oh and! Thank you so much for requesting <333
please i kinda realized that- whenever i write for kou it’s lowkey biased i just,,,, i love him a lot
warnings: social anxiety
word count: 1,846
Tsukasa Yugi <3
To be completely honest, he doesn’t fully get it. The best he grasps it is “(Y/N) can’t handle social situations”, not meaning it in a derogatory way. Just that it’s something that makes them feel very uncomfortable!
One thing is for sure though! He’ll take it very seriously, and does his best to keep you out of situations that may be less than ideal. He also will fight anyone who pokes fun at you- it isn’t funny, and that’s coming from a boy who practically thrives off of pain. Not your pain though. Nope- no one should dare upset you, or cause you any sort of pain or distress. You’re his precious s/o.
When he sees you getting uncomfortable, Tsukasa is honestly just the type of dude who grabs your hand and drags you away. Heck, it’s not like he wants others talking to you anyway :D! His s/o, not theirs!!
If you aren’t fully in panic, or have calmed down enough, he doesn’t pester you or make a big deal of it. He’ll ask if you’re okay, and sort of… leaves it at that. He doesn’t want you to be reminded of anything upsetting, and he doesn’t want you to feel like you have to talk about it. If you want to, he’ll listen of course.
Tsukasa… isn’t the best comforter. If you start to have a panic attack, he’ll stay with you, sitting next to you and rubbing your back. However, he isn’t sure what to do outside of that. He may try to converse a bit, hoping to maybe distract you? Either way, once you calm down, he’ll ask what he should do, and will very obediently do it. Though Sakura compared him to a cat, he’s almost like a dog at times-
Tsukasa definitely notices if you start comparing yourself to others, and will do his best to stop that. He’ll grab your face in his hands, look you in the eyes, and declare that you’re perfect the way you are!! You can’t help your situation! SO, don’t feel bad!
Of course, having someone say “nooo, don’t do that!” doesn’t automatically fix your problems- while Tsukasa wishes it was that simple, he keeps up his encouraging you whenever you need it.
Oh boy though- the moment he heard those rude words leave your teacher’s mouth, he was ready to throw hands. Like, genuinely, put ‘em up old man/woman/person. Tsukasa isn’t the type to lose his cool when it comes to anger- it’s more weird/strange things for him, y’know- but he’s genuinely angry at that.
Yet, because you’re his priority, he does focus on you. He’ll grab your hands, and pull you out of the classroom. Tsukasa will then sit with you, hugging you if you’re okay with it, and rubbing your back.
“Don’t listen to them, (Y/N). That’s so dumb!! You can’t help that!!! They don’t understand, and they aren’t trying, and it’s stupid. I’ll take care of it! I’ll fight ‘til the death-!!!!”
“You’re already-”
“‘TIL THE DEATH.”
Overall, even if he doesn’t intend or realize it, Tsukasa does try to help you through humor. He attempts to comfort you, rubbing your back, telling you the plain facts- that it’s so dumb of your teacher to say something like that, how inconsiderate it is, how it’s ridiculous that they don’t even try to understand where you’re coming from- that you’re perfect the way you are, and you good and well don’t want social anxiety so, my goodness, people need to stop treating it like it’s your choice. But! It’s also a whole lot of rambling, pouty expressions, and hugs-
Kou Minamoto <3
Like Tsukasa, Kou doesn’t fully grasp it. However, he does a lot of research, and will side with you no matter what! He doesn’t see you any different, but he does do his best to keep you 1,000% comfortable. If he notices you getting uncomfortable, he’ll excuse the two of you, and immediately ask if you’re alright.
Bless his sweet little heart, he does worry for you a lot. Whenever you’re uncomfortable, Kou instantly feels uncomfortable as well. So, getting out of those situations is always beneficial for the both of you, pfff-
Although, should you be put in a situation that you can’t slip out of, Kou will try and take over the conversation in your place. Sort of get the attention directed away from you, in hopes that it provides some sort of comfort. As soon as the conversation is over, he’ll do as he always does- turn to you, a precious worried expression on his face, as he asks if you’re alright.
Should you start to have a panic attack, though he’s on edge the entire time- he just wants you to be happy and comfortable after all- he stays with you, and looks surprisingly calm. He’ll place a hand on your shoulder, or hold you if you’d like. Kou will do breathing exercises in hopes that it calms you down, and is so proud of you once you’re back.
After moments like those, he’ll also run to get you water, then sit with you for as long as you need. He doesn’t mind if you just want to sit in silence, but he’ll probably sit there carrying a conversation primarily with himself. Consider it… background noise, I suppose? He understands if you don’t feel like talking, or even listening, and won’t hold anything against you. It’s mainly a way for him to calm down, to be honest- good ol’ nervous rambling.
Much like Tsukasa, Kou will admittedly fight someone for you. Is he a precious boy, who wouldn’t want to hurt a human? Yeah, of course! Is a human anything more than an evil supernatural in his eyes, should they intentionally upset you? Nope, of course not!
Kou usually sits next to you in classes, simply because he’s your friend and boyfriend. However, in that moment, it provided him enough to know whether you’re alright or not.
Kou’s face the moment he heard those words leave the teacher’s mouth was pure… confusion- anger- the perfect “?!” expression. He wasn’t focused on what he looked like though- he was focused on you. That was enough to hurt his feelings, so he couldn’t imagine what you were feeling.
At seeing that pure panic on your face, Kou stood up, and stepped over to you. He grabbed your hand, carefully ushering you out of the room, offering the teacher nothing more than an, avoiding eye contact and barely turning himself to face the teacher, “excuse us.” He couldn’t give two cares about whether or not it’d get him in trouble. Right now, the teacher was scum, and you needed to get out of there.
Kou would sit with you, comforting you in the same way he did any other time, hugging you and rocking back-and-forward slightly, hoping that it helped. If it didn’t, he’d sit back, still offering any other forms of comfort he could. Once you calmed down as best you could, Kou would hug you/tighten the hug (if it was alright with you) and, similarly to Tsukasa, tell you plain facts.
“I promise you, (Y/N), what they said isn’t true. It’s inconsiderate. It’s- not right. You’re doing your best, and if they can’t see that, then- then? I… I don’t know. They should keep their mouth shut and try to understand. Put themselves in your shoes… I’m sorry- I’m sorry that you had to deal with that, (Y/N). I’m really sorry.”
Mitsuba Sousuke <3
He’s your #1 defender. It’s well-known that Mitsuba isn’t afraid to speak his mind- and is also pretty good at making someone feel guilty. He’d never use that skill on you, of course. He saves it specially for jerks that provoke you like that.
He doesn’t personally suffer from social anxiety, but he does understand it better than the other two. It’s completely rational in his eyes. He understands it just fine, and it frustrates him when others don’t. It especially frustrates him when others don’t even attempt to understand.
Mitsuba isn’t extremely fond of talking with others- once he befriends you, he sort of keeps to you and him. He’s content with that as well, and honestly dislikes it when others try and intrude on that. People like Kou or Kou’s friends are slight exceptions, but none of them are as close to him as you are. No one tries to understand him like you do- and he likes to think he understands you a bit more than they might.
When you get uncomfortable, Mitsuba will tell the other person directly that they’re disturbing the two of you, and that they should hurry up, or simply go along on their way. Like I said, Mitsuba isn’t afraid to speak his mind, even if his mind is a bit ruder than others’. Heck, if someone doesn’t get the very obvious hint, he'll put it even blunter for their small minds to understand. All in all, he doesn’t want you to be uncomfortable, and uses his questionable social skills to his advantage.
Despite his ability to get you out of situations, he isn’t the best at dealing with the panic that results from the situations. He does have a decent grasp on what he should do, but his slight tsundere tendencies make it difficult.
So! Mitsuba will sit there, next to you, probably with his shoulder pressed against yours. He sort of… talks you through a panic attack? He isn’t entirely sure how to help you out of one, but he’s decent enough at keeping you grounded. Plus, even if he doesn’t help tremendously, he at least shows that he cares. Heck, if he’s feeling generous, he may even place a fleeting kiss on your shoulder as a “reward.”
One thing especially keeping him tied with the other boys, is he’s fuming the moment your teacher makes that comment. As soon as the words leave his mouth, Mitsuba is sitting there, practically forcing himself to keep some sort of composure.
“Tch. The crap? What kind of audacity do you have to disregard a student’s mental health. What’s wrong with you? How would you feel if I made a comment on your receding hairline, hm? Oh? Oh, that’s not something you can help, hm? Well, whether it can get through your thick skull or not, (Y/N) can’t help it either. So, unlike your forehead, which will continue- why don’t we leave it at that?”
Mitsuba doesn’t really bother to excuse the two of you- heck, after that, he’s already confident he’s in deep trouble. It’s not as if he cares though- no, he’s perfectly content, as he takes your hand and guides you out of the classroom.
Mitsuba, as he usually does, sits with you, letting you cry as much as you need. “Don’t worry, (Y/N). If that much didn’t get through to them, I have a few more choice words I’d be glad to share. No matter what, it’s not your fault, and I’ve got your back.”
