I keep vaguely thinking of creating a wiki that organises star wars things in ways that are useful for fic writers (unlike Wookieepedia, which is often not in a useful format for what fic writers want). What would you (and folks you follow) want that to look like? Asking you because you have that excellent list of sw resources, some of which would not be possible to move to a wiki but some would. The ideas I've been thinking about are more granular timelines than Woookieepedia has and things like lists of senators that serve at the same time/some way to reference what senators would be around during particular events, but I'm sure there are other things that I'm just blanking on.

no, seriously, do it! especially timelines, because that's something that can be confusing at times, and not everyone wants to/can afford to buy Timelines guide book that was released last year I think (or it was this year?), like you said, having lists of coss-reference with characters, places, and/or events would be the best. There are so many things that could be helpful to writers.

Honestly, I don't know what would be the best way to organize all of it, but if there's any other way that I can help you (other than cheering you on) just let me know. I can only imagine how massive a project like this is, and you'll need all the help you can get.

And to my lovely friends, mutuals and followers who are fic writers, what are your suggestions? What would you like to have at your hand's reach for writing your fabulous fics instead of going down the rabbit hole every time you need to research a detail?

Honestly, I’m not entirely sure what the pattern is LMFAO. Like half are pleasant/happy/neutral while the other half seem to be kinda angsty. Literally two start with someone smiling lol. Though the fic starting with ‘Yavin 2 was a dismal place’ is somehow the funniest line to me in the list. But in general, I seem to try using the first line as a way to set the tone of the fic by either what they’re doing or what it looks like in number 7’s case which is interestin since some of these were started either 2022 or for my Found a Padawan earlier. So it’s good to know this is how I’ve been starting my fics for awhile.

@yukipri is an amazing artist and writer! I first fell in love with YukiPri’s art when I saw their winged Cody and Rex 💞. Then, I just had to read their AU fic about winged clones Take Flight, Brothers All and loved it as well!

Thank you! This is the second one of these that I've received and I should probably do them. It feels like one of those things or exercises that are good for you that psychologists encourage you to do. At least it feels like one that I've been given in the past. Not much makes me happy anymore but hopefully I can find enough things to list.

The Bad Batch. This is my current hyperfixation and I cannot put into words how good/relieving/happy? it is to have something that your brain can actually focus on and be occupied and enraptured and consumed by and not feel like it's slowly decaying mush that is past its prime.

Watching The Clone Wars for the first time. It's a little project I've got going on for myself to document my thoughts and reactions as I watch The Clone Wars (and then Rebels) for the first time. For various reasons I never ended up watching TCW or Rebels when they first came out. I am deeply enjoying watching it now and I can literally feel myself falling more and more in love with the clones. I adore them. I just want to clutch them all to my chest and protect them from the world and their fate. I just finished watching 2x10 'The Deserter' and I have so many thoughts and reactions and opinions because omg was it such a good episode for a whole multitude of reasons, the very top being REX CHEST. Watching the TCW is the only thing that makes me laugh these days. Cackling and laughing at my laptop at 2am as I watch this ridiculousness (affectionate) are my only moments of actual joy and if that's all I can ever find now then fuck it I'll take it.

Being more involved in fandom again. I'm really enjoying interacting more on Tumblr again. I didn't realise how much I'd missed it. It took a bit of prodding from my psychologist and it wasn't the project I had actually talked about doing but finally starting this little side blog for my Star Wars nonsense has actually given me something worth existing for again, as ridiculous as it seems.

Reading fanfic. Everything for fanfic writers, they deserve the world and more. They make these intricately crafted universes or tiny moments and vignettes, give us a world to wholly immerse ourselves in and sink into, provide us with an escape from the miserable existence of our hellscape and then give it away FOR FREE?! This is one of the reasons I've always loved fandom and why it's one of the few places (possibly the only) where I feel I can be the real genuine me and like I belong. So much of fandom is based on the love and passion of something that we adore so much and the free exchange and gifting of things to each other and complete strangers and the whole fandom at large that express our love for our thing (eloquent, I know). Fics, fanart, gifs, gif sets, screenshots, remixes, deep dive analyses, thoughts, reactions, theories, everything. Fanfic has always been the one that that best typifies that to me. I'm currently reading The Prime Override by @yukipri and omg is it just absolutely truly astounding. It is such a good read! Go and read it. You must. It is an absolute Must Read. Put it at the top of your To Read list/pile and then start reading it immediately.

Writing fic. I didn't think I'd ever do this. I have voraciously inhaled fanfic for probably over half my life now but I didn't think I'd ever be good enough to actually write fanfic. I've always been stronger and had more experience in academic writing and wasn't quite as good at creative writing in school. Poor little teenage writer me must've internalised this and taken it to mean that I wasn't good enough at creative writing. I've always had ideas for scenarios/alternate realities/fantasies related to various fandoms I've been in over the years but that's what they remained, ideas stuck in my head. Until I kept having more and more of them about the The Bad Batch and they kept lodging their claws into my brain and refusing to leave. I think it all just built up to a point and then one particular idea pushed it all over the edge (along with a few other things). Before I realised what I was doing I had basically just keyboard vomited a whole bunch of words into a google doc in an actually passionate and motivated haze that I hadn't experienced in years, probably close to a decade. I haven't had that feeling of actually, genuinely enjoying something and being so passionate and deeply involved in it that it feels like you can't keep up with your own thoughts in so, so, so long. The kind where you look up at the clock and somehow it's 2:30am in the morning and you have no idea how time had passed that quickly and for how long you'd been so deeply consumed by and focused on what you were working on. I thought it had been lost to me and that I'd never experience it again after everything that's happened. But writing fanfic has given it back. It's not the same, it never will be, but it's something similar, if changed, and related and I will take it and cling on to it for dear life for as long as it stays.

Well that got a bit more long and involved than I intended. I've always had a habit of rambling and blithering on in my internet typings so that makes sense. I'll try to keep the next one a little shorter.

Wow...

I have not been on here for a very long time.

But. I do wanna say something that I wanted to say for a while and that is thank you. Thank you to all the people I follow on here ( that I will mention later), you all have been a massive inspiration to me in my life and I really do appreciate what you guys do for your fanbase and to others. I have always look at your guys’ content when I am in a very dark state of mind because you all for some reason have picked me up right back into the right place. I know this sounds like I’m being too cliche, cheesy or whatever synonyms out there, but it's true. You all have inspired me to write stories, make more of my own characters, and I want to show them to you and to get to know you, and hopefully be friends (super sorry if that sounds stalkerish??? I am not very good at this stuff lol I am a massive introvert XD), I guess you could say that in my own way you guys are like a family to me, my own little tumblr family and hopefully this does reach out to you guys and if it doesn’t, I don’t mind, I won’t mind, I would just be happy that I was able to get this out there to let you all know what you do for your fanbase.

The Prime Override - Chapter 70 is up!

Rex - The Prime Override, Knightfall Remix

It's here, it's time. Brace yourselves.

This Chapter: Rex gets Appo to tell him about what he and the 501st saw when the Override went live—the massacre of the Jedi Temple.

WARNINGS: SO MANY. HEED THEM. Graphic description of a massacre, including but not limited to the murders of children. Descriptions of traumatic events and their effects on the victims. Lots of temporary major and minor character death. All death is temporary/imagined. Any resemblance to real life events is coincidental/an inevitable result of the topic, and note that many fragments of this chapter were written two years ago.

This chapter is DARK, and it's also much longer than my usual chapters. We're ripping it all off at once like a bandaid, but PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

The emptiness where Appo should be vibrates—it feels scared. Not of Rex—for Rex. "You don't want to know what happened." "I might not," Rex agrees. "But I do know that whatever it is you experienced—I should have been there too." I am a part of the 501st, Rex doesn’t say, and wonders if Appo can hear. We bled together, cried together, laughed together. My blood is yours. Your pain is mine. Let me be a part of you again.

🐇 ⇢ do you prefer writing original characters, reader inserts, or a mix of both?

Original characters, for sure. I'm not fond of reader inserts, nothing against who write/read them, but it's not for me because they feel a bit gaslighting. The few occasions I dare to read them I always say "I wouldn't f*ing say/do that!", and I feel I have no right to force the reader to feel/say/do things they normally wouldn't. I know it's fiction, but I cannot connect with reader inserts, neither in reading nor writing.

But unlike insert readers, the possibilities with original characters is infinite and there's no one that can say that the OC wouldn't react this or that way except me! (When I'm writing them ofc) And I accept whatever the OC's reaction is when I'm reading it bc it is what it is. I have no base to refute it.

🍄 ⇢ share a head canon for one of your favourite ships or pairings

Kalluzeb when they get hurt: two sides of the same coin

Zeb goes berserk when Kallus is in danger. Any imperial in a mile radius of them will have a gruesome demise. It's a little scary to witness. But later, he calms down once they're safe and patches Kallus up with utmost care. Kallus gets often hurt, so Zeb is an expert by now.

On the other hand, if it Zeb who gets hurt during a mission, Kallus keeps his head cold and do what he needs to do to get Zeb out of there. He's methodical and pragmatic about it. But once they're safe, Kallus crumbles. He can't deal with Zeb hurt. It messes with his head.

🌿 ⇢ give some advice on writer's block and low creativity

I struggle with this myself, but sometimes I do things that help me

Take a break from writing (sometimes even a short break is enough, sometimes you need days or weeks. It's okay)

But during the before mentioned break (especially the long ones) you can do other things, get out of your comfort zone. Read something (your favorite book or something new), watch tv shows/movies in a different genre/fandom you're writing for. Do another type of art, listen to music, etc.

Brainstorm with someone else (or several others). This is VERY IMPORTANT. Sometimes what we need to get unstuck is voicing the problem. I'd say that 7 out of 10 times, you'll find the solution by yourself while explaining the other person. If not, then your friend(s) will give you one, or at least, spark your imagination by telling you the detail you were missing.

Remember that even just a sentence written is progress.

And, even if it's often discouraged by many writing advice lists, edit that last portion of what you wrote and don't be afraid to discard what doesn't work (but don't delete it. You can save that for another story or later on in the same fic you're working on.). Doing this, you can make the story flow easily again.

Day 17: Share a Memory YOI Related

So this is a little personal, but when YOI came into my life I was going through a rough patch, kind of still am 2018 has been a crazy year, but I was at a convention last year and was totally having a panic attack because I was in a knee walker and there were so many people and I just got really overwhelmed. One seller had anime goods and that had a Makka purse and it made me thrilled because in a dark moment YOI was really there as a shining light.

The second memory is....up until like a couple of months ago, I’ve *never* shared my art public, *never*. But then I took it upon myself to give myself this Screenshot Challenge where I would choose a screenshot from YOI and try and have it colored in the same day...it doesn’t always happen, but I try really hard to post a new pic daily. It’s really hard for me to share my work, but it’s getting easier every day.

My very first art ever posted!

My last bit is about the amazing people I’ve met in this fandom, the people who really touch my life and bring sunshine into it when skies are grey. @yukipri makes the most beautiful fandom art I’ve ever seen! Her AUs are so creative and her world building skills are phenomenal! Her Future Verse gives me life! I got into A/B/O because of it! Not to mention my love of her Russian Sandwich. And um... *cough* *cough* her Star Wars AU... Check it out! Check it all out! Her updates always make me really happy! Not to mention her OC children who are adorable and I just want to adopt them all! @joeys-piano makes the most phenomenal audios I’ve ever listened to. I can literally listen to his interpretations on loops while I’m making art and writing because they, and his talent, are so inspiring. He’s so talent d, please listen to his audios! @crimson-chains her Siren AU and Mafia AU slay me! The talent she has with coming with these AUs and creating such story driven manga pages is just mind blowing. And her original is fantastic! Sine I’m so into to YOI I don’t look at too much art outside it, but man, her work blows me away I wish I had her skills! Check her out! @lucycamui Her Siren AU just has me blown away and I love re-reading it and can’t wait for its release! The way she writes her scenes, builds characters, and builds suspense is incredible! It becomes pageturning and I need it in my life. Check her out! @lusciouswhiteflame I can’t say enough about their Yuri Plisetsky art! I love him, but I love seeing him happy and in their work he’s happy and in love with their OC Alex, who is hot...in fact all their work is steamy and playful, I love it! Please support them! I bought my very first zines from @lusciouswhiteflame and haven’t been happier! @phaytesworld her writing is some of the steamiest I’ve read and her slow burns slay me! Okay, just flat out kill me, I live for her updates! Her rare pairs make me so happy and her confidence in posting her works inspires me immensely. I’ve not posted my writing yet because it’s not of caliber, but she inspires me. @geekmom13 one of my first followers and someone who makes me happy! I don’t have many followers, hopefully one day, but I appreciate anyone who takes them time to view my work. It means a lot to me. And her Harry Potter and catposts gove me life!

I can’t list every person who’s made me happy with their posts, art, and stories! These are just the ones I know off the top of my head! This fandom has given me sunshine in such a cloudy year, I wouldn’t be where I am today without the amazing influences of these and so many others. I can’t thank everyone enough!

So...this was more than a little personal, but these are my happy memories. Please enjoy!

What is the Shit Bang you ask? It is an amazing event for writers and artists to come together and write and draw about the amazing anime we all love: Yuri!!! On Ice! Story Prompt:

Monochrome by @diamondwinters An AU where people who are sad, down, depressed cannot hide it. Whenever you get sad, you start to loose your color. Your skin turns pale, your eyes loose their color, and turn gray or white, and your hair turns gray. Like an old black and white tv show, you loose all your color when you’re very sad. A little bit of sadness might dim your natural colors, but you wouldn’t loose them. It’s during a time when you feel heart broken, or very depressed that you go Monochrome. Such as a big break up, a death of a loved one, deep depression, etc. Monochrome is the medical term used by the doctors in this AU to describe turning gray in a world of color.

Some people who are unable to get happy, may use make-up, contacts, and hair color to hide the fact that they’re depressed, but eventually even those things will loose their color and will need to be replaced.

The best thing to do is to find your happiness. Be with friends, and family who can help you bring your color back. The brighter you are, the more vivid your colors are, the happier you are.

When the full realization hit him, Yuri felt as though he couldn’t breathe. Detached and fleeting thoughts that had passed through his mind finally took shape in these three words at that exact moment. The I being himself, Yuri Plisetsky, age 17, a Russian figure skater with a list of impressive accomplishments to his name that seemed pretty pointless right now given the context. The want being desire, the need to bury himself, the thought to consume, but never actually act out except behind locked doors in empty beds or shower stalls. The him being the person standing across from Yuri sipping coffee from a take-away cup with creased brows, the low sunlight hitting his face just so to light up his otherwise dark eyes. Someone he considered to be his best friend, who came all the way from Almaty just to spend a week with him and who was blissfully unaware of the fucking turmoil Yuri was feeling in the pit of his stomach. Or at least, Yuri hoped he was unaware.

In which Yuri Plisetsky invites Otabek Altin over to stay with him in Saint Petersburg, freaks out over his feelings and delves into Lilia's liquor stash.
