If you think it's okay to say Zack Snyder is to blame for his daughter's suicide, you need to go outside and touch grass. Fun fact as someone who lost my best friend to suicide, guess what suicide loss survivors tend to do? Blame ourselves. I don't know how much time was wasted thinking of what I could have done better. When you blame Zack for his daughter's death, you are perpetuating the idea that suicide loss survivors are right to blame. Another fun fact! Guess what people who lose people to suicide are more likely to do? TAKE THEIR OWN LIVES. Do not pretend like you care about suicidal people when you're contributing to stigmas that worsen people's suicidal thoughts.

And why? Is Zack Snyder some kind of terrible person like Roman Polanski and Woody Allen, who are sex offenders? No. He just makes movies people don't like.

Ffs leave the Snyders alone. You're welcome to hate Zack's movies but there is no need to treat him and his family like garbage, use a poor depressed girl's memory to hate on a man she seemed very close to, and perpetuate the stigmas that comes with losing someone to suicide.

And hey, if you need someone in Hollywood to rage against, the aforementioned sex offenders seem to still be doing pretty well, so maybe you could turn your attention to people like that. People who, you know, actively abuse other people. Just a thought.

I really don't get it.

Zack Snyder shows appreciation for Batman and he gets hate for it.

He uses Hallelujah for the first ZSJL trailer to honor his daughter and he gets mocked for it.

He thanks his fans for fighting for him all these years when everyone else was calling him a liar and a manipulator and he's accused of enabling the toxic members of the fandom (by that logic, any other artist praising their fandoms would be m supporting the bad apples... but somehow that logic only seems to apply to one director.)

He says he's interested in adapting the Arthurian Legends and suddenly everyone becomes an expert on the subject and there are hundreds of threads trashing him for even thinking of touching this story.

And that's just the past four months alone.

It breaks my heart. The hate against this man has become so normalized, there's really no other way to describe it. By all accounts, he's one of the nicest persons in Hollywood who always treats his crew/castmembers with respect (so much that they all absolutely LOVE working with him... hell, Emily Browning and Gal Gadot thanked him for giving them their passion for acting back) and he gets more vitriol sent him way than actual abusers in the industry... *because he made movies some people don't like*. Like, I try to picture a scenario where i would spend that much time and energy hating on someone and slandering his name because I dislike their work and I can't even come up with it. It's insane.

Newsflash: no one is forcing you to watch Zack Snyder's Justice League. No one is forcing you to subscribe to HBOMax. You can just shrug your shoulders and watch something else.

I say this as someone who was introduced to Cyborg/Victor Stone via the 2003 Teen Titans cartoon.

New Rockstars, a YouTube channel I actually appreciate well enough, recently posted an announcement about their intention to host a “DC WEEK”. It’s all good and well, but... they were happily shading on ZS along with everyone else for years, I had to get out of more than one of their videos because of the insufferably condescending way some of them talked about his work but now when #ReleaseTheSnyderCut succeeded (and after they exhausted every single tiny insignificant detail within every far and dusty corner of MCU) they decided to make an “in-depth breakdown and analysis of Zack Snyder’s under-appreciated MAN OF STEEL (2013)”. UNDER-FUCKING-APPRECIATED! REALLY?! Can’t wait to see the new and very well-hidden easter eggs they’re gonna dig up within DCEU movies that ZS fans definitely weren’t shouting about from the rooftops since 2013.

You know, I watched BvS like a year or two after it was relased (I watched the Ultimate Cut only) and what bugs me abt the criticism that I’d seen about this movie before actually watching it is that people made a lot of noise about the fact that Batman killed, and in their comments they really made it sound as though Zack was all like “Batman kills because I think it’s cool and dark and edgy, and that’s who his charcter is” (HaCK SnyDer DOeSnT UndERStanD ThE CHaraCtERS.) And it’s not before I watched the movie a second time (I loved it from the start but a second viewing gave me more perspective) that I realized that these comments were total bs (these comments came from blogs that I liked and that I felt knew Batman more than me, which is why I was inclined to think they knew what they were talking abt). They made me feel like I couldn’t fully enjoy this movie bc of this portrayal or that at least I should keep in minde that Snyder was a hack who believed violent murderous Batman was best Batman.

But in reality, the reason why Bruce is this jaded and brutal serves a specific purpose in the narrative and the themes of the movie. We’re not supposed to want him to be in this state of mind, Alfred makes a specific point to tell us how Bruce turned out cruel, that the way he is now is not sth we should root for, that he’s lost and misguided. And the way Batman attacks Superman always made me so uncomfortable, I never wanted for these two to fight. 

And you know while I don’t have an extensive knowledge of the comics, Millers’ portrayal of Batman is something I know a tiny bit about and I don’t enjoy it, but to me the way Zack (and co.) used it in this movie works perfectly with the thematics they set in their universe. It’s not ultra-violent Batman crushes Superman, it’s Batman lost in the darkness and who finds hope again through Superman (and his sacrifice)

(also others have pointed out that Batman kills in previous movies, which granted is not an excuse but let’s not pretend Batman was always up to code)

I'm happy for the fans that they get their movies and I do think that ZS deserves to show his work but I also understand the concerns about rewarding toxic behavior :s

... i’ve already spoken more than once about how completely and utterly hypocritical it is to use this particular case as an example of studios rewarding fandom toxicity. But okay, let me explain it to you another way.

You’ve seen many articles like this ones going around these past 2 days, haven’t you? Written in a somehow extremely biased (but trying to appear neutral) tone, discussing the impact a toxic fandom  could have on the studios’ decision and how it could set a bad precedent for future movies?

What if I told you that this woman had celebrated Snyder’s departure in 2017? What if I told you that she often spoke of him in these terms.

Would you still consider her to be in a position to judge any sort of toxic behavior? She is now claiming that she’s received many death threats from fans. I very much doubt it was that much but I don’t think she’s lying about receiving these vile messages. How do I know? Because I’ve had more than once people in my mentions telling me that all Snyder fans should die already (and somehow I still manage to understand that these clowns are a minority, go figure).

That’s what the most toxic assholes do. It’s a shame, but it is what it is. However, she and her colleagues are taking some kind of sick pleasure in depicting our entire fandom as one who’s done nothing but sent them death threats, because that fits the narrative better, you see.

Just like it was easy to depict Zack Snyder as a liar and a manipulator in order to convince people that the Snyder Cut didn’t exist and that even if it did, it was never ever ever ever ever going to be released.

But I will say that it is very much possible that we’ve been angry in her mentions. Why? Take a look at the tweet. Read those words. Imagine all the other tweets about Snyder she must have written. 

Can you really not understand why at some point fans got pissed and told her to fuck off already?

And that’s just one example. I could show you more than a dozen of these clowns with big plateforms who’ve done nothing these past 3 years but insult Snyder and provoke the fans. Disgusting people who are now posing themselves as victims and thinking they are above toxicity.

They are the ones who have been throwing a gigantic tantrum these past 2 days. Because they were delighted in seing Zack Snyder brought down and hate the fact that he fought for his vision and won.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that they are really concerned about setting a bad precedent. It’s really, really not about that.
