I have been shooting on an Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark 2 and M. Zuiko Pro lenses for right at a year now, after making the switch from Sony. I primarily shoot E-commerce products and cycling sports in Arizona, but travel to cycling races/events all over the country if and when I can. This image was shot on the EM1ii and 25 1.2 (great walkabout lens and usually what I carry on the bike). Pictured is my go to 40-150 2.8 for long and close up action shots and it a pan shot killer at 150! Next is 45 1.2, oh man, my favorite, perfect for product, lifestyle, portrait, and getting up close with racers during an event. Followed by the 12-40 2.8 which is my carry around lens for when I’m running and gunning an event, or getting BTS shots and anything wide. For the @getolympus #olympusnewyeargiveaway I would love to add the 7-14 2.8 lens to my arsenal for the super wide shots, and bring some landscapes into my mixture of everything I shoot and post. This is post number 7 in my 12 part series of top posts for last year. As I say, better late than never. Haha. As many of you know, last year I went to Zimbabwe in February to do a complete run through of my planned itinerary for running tours. I needed to make sure that my trip would be life changing, beautiful, humbling, overwhelming and organized! Haha. She’s a rescue, a lucky girl considering pangolin’s are one of the most heavily trafficked mammals on the planet. I wanted to capture her being cradled by her beloved handler, to showcase her trust and vulnerability. I also didn’t want to scare her by being too close, hence the telephoto lens. I tried different settings, and the light was low, but eventually went for f2.8 and focused on her expressive eyes. __________________________________ #olympusinspired Learn photography from me, link in bio. ️ This is post number 7 in my 12 part series of top posts for last year. The light was pretty low so my aperture was wide open, not ideal for landscapes. But ... the sky opened and the light was shining and it all happened in the blink of an eye so it was a quick snap and then it was gone again. Even though my settings were technically wrong, it’s the shot that matters. And I love this shot. ️ This is proof that sometimes being in the right place at the right time is more important than nailing all the technical stuff. __________________________________ #olympusinspired Learn photography from me, link in bio. ️ This picture was a complete surprise to me! As many of you know, visiting Borneo last year was a life changing experience for me. I had the absolute privilege of working with the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation and the work was absolutely heartbreaking. And yet, it gave me the opportunity to spread awareness of a worthy cause and massive mental clarity on where I want to make a difference in this world. For that alone, this image makes it to my top 12. _________________________________ Gear and Settings: ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ @olympus_au E-M1 Mark II M. The orangutans were volatile, some spitting and others rattling bars. Who wouldn’t be angry to spend a whole life behind bars thanks to habitat loss and inability for release? I opted for a long lens and had to watch my exposure as the scene was very dark and there wasn’t a lot of light in my environment either. As soon as I clicked the shutter I knew I had her. Her name is Roslyn. This is her life. Forever. __________________________________ #olympusinspired Learn photography from me, link in bio. ️ As many of you know, visiting Borneo last year was a life changing experience for me. We were close to the road so there were lots of distractions from power lines, nearby houses and the road. I made the decision to switch to a telephoto lens to attempt to compress what I was seeing and isolate the rows of flowers, and I loved the effect! Even if you are happy with how your shots are turning out, you should always experiment with different focal lengths and settings. ️ __________________________________ #olympusinspired Learn photography from me, link in bio. ️ I know it’s literally March but there was no way I was going to skip my annual round up of my favourite shots from the previous year.
