there is actually nothing prettier than Rory dressed as a roman and I'm convinced the Doctor somewhat agrees with me. Why else did the Doctor tell Rory to wear that in a good man goes to war, when there was literally no reason for Rory to be wearing a lil' centurion outfit.

I just finished watching "A Good Man Goes To War" and, while crying bc I remembered River's life with the Doctor (the backwards meetings) and cackling like crazy after the "The Doctor Returns... IN LET'S KILL HITLER" I can't help but imagine their life afterwards

! PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT IT'S THE FURTHEST I'VE WATCHED SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IN THE FUTURE !

So, with the quartet of Amy & Rory being married, River being their daughter and our Space Boi being (in the future) her husband, I imagine a pretty wholesome family life while they travel in the TARDIS, which is miserable for the Doctor.

Like, Rory saying something that the Doctor finds stupid and corrects/objects/insults him, Rory blurts out "I'M YOUR FATHER IN LAW GODDAMMIT! " Which shocks them both. They look at each other like " ??? Did I/you seriously said that?" broken by River's "You tell 'im Dad".

Or, the Doctor having a minor disagreement over something, when Doctor says something like "Can't believe I married you! What happens in the future that I sank to this level?" and while River is used to it and is ready to spit some venom Amy rushes in and slaps the Doctor "DON'T YOU DARE INSULT MY BABY LIKE THAT!!" and Rory standing in the distance "No man can touch my baby girl. (TM)"

I just think it's hilarious , Amy and Rory acting like super overprotective parents of a child that is way older than them (at the moment), River getting all smirky and Doctor considering of dropping them in the Jurassic Period.

The Doctor as a lonely God is so important to me. A God without power. A God isolated by their immortality. A God who doesn't have superpowers or magic or the ability to make sweeping changes but who is still set apart from everyone they've ever loved because they are the only one of their kind. A God who wants connection more than anything else but can never make the final step to truly loving and connecting with someone because there will always be the knowledge of their companion's inevitable death hanging over their head. A God who has no power on their own, everything that can help them affect change tied up in their tools and their ship and their tech, and yet still doing everything they can to make things better. A God that holds grudges and bestows forgiveness and cannot let go of the only other God in their orbit because what are they without their mirror? A God that does not want to be saluted, does not want to be worshipped, but sometimes that is the closest they can get to love and they find themselves, in their worst moments, understanding why the Master is the way they are. A God that is lonely. A God without power. A God who sometimes convinces themself that they have more power than they do and it leads to their worst mistakes, like in the Waters of Mars or Demon's Run or Hell Bent or Dalek or Timeless Children. A God who, at the end of the day, understands that they are isolated, alone, and yet must love with everything they have, love the universe, love their companions for fleeting moments, because the top of the mountain is too boring, too cold, to spend eternity on, and humans burn like stars, quick and warm and glorious to behold.
