Everybody talks about “A Little bit Alexis” but they forget it’s predecessor “Gene Simmons is my daddy” from Ugly Betty 😤😤😤😤

“David: Look at your things! Look at your life!
Alexis: I have been a little distracted!
David: why is this wet? Ewww…
Alexis: Because I kicked over a glass of water you left on the floor.
David: But I wasn’t drinking water…
Alexis: Okay maybe it was mine, what difference does it make!”

the thing that makes "A Little Bit Alexis" even funnier is that in the 2nd season Alexis says that she's tone deaf

my toxic trait is not being able to watch Schitt’s Creek S5E8 for fear that this lyrical masterpiece will get stuck in my head again…

OMG THANK YOU!!! I've been trying to figure out what it reminded me of and it is definitley a little bit Alexis. That has been bugging me for like a hour. Thank you I can finally turn my brain off. Hope you have a good day 💜
Happy to have helped, anon! I'm thrilled that anybody agreed with me, because whenever my brain makes connections I feel like the guy with the string-covered board--I rarely expect other people to see things the same way. (When I was deep in the weeds with this Ted Lasso gifset, the most ambitious layout/plan I'd ever worked on, I had moments of absolute certainty that it wouldn't convey the parallels I saw and would just seem crazy instead.)
When you actually compare the two, it's not like there's lyrical overlap really. But I think for me it's the lighthearted energy of the music, with the lyrics feeling a little bit tongue-in-cheek. 'Karma takes all my friends to the summit' is for some reason when it clicked for me. It's a really fun song though, and while it wasn't my fave on first listen I'm enjoying it today.
