no but why can’t tsukishima be a hopeless romantic. why can’t akaashi be an idiot in love. why can’t oikawa love someone selflessly. why cant kuroo be blushy and shy when you tell him you love him. why can’t atsumu be a giver, why can’t ushijima leave you cute notes with bad drawings for footnotes, why can’t tendou have soft hands and gentle words. why are these characters spread so thin. why are they so often only boring or mean or bland or bad at love in fanon. who said writing them purely in love, soft and sweet, means writing them out of character. why cant they be sweet boys. why not. 

#letting go of boring fandom wide headcanons to make room for nicer boys and cuter fics #a lot of the fics ive written have fallen into fandom tropes or fanon characterizations and i want to do better than that #are those tropes or characterizations bad? not inherently. theres a reason they are the norm within fic. #that doesnt mean i have to like it though. that doesnt mean i cant have a gripe or two when my favorite character is turned into Bland Man #i just think writers should challenge themselves more to look beyond these common characterizations of the characters we write about #look deeper than the fandom stereotype of any given character #because i think that makes fics better. that makes writing better. #and im not speaking to anyone specific here and im including myself in this #and im saying it now so i actually do it. look deeper. theres so much there within all of these volleyboys #we dont need to spread one personality trait so thin. #specifically i need to try harder with ushijima. i think my fics about him are pretty boring and i would like to do him better justice #same with oikawa #its just so easy to give in to angst with oikawa........i must admit #anyway #em talks #em rants? #no its not a rant im just saying my thoughts here #nothing serious just writer thoughts
