If I were Domovoi Butler, and I had very recently woken up on the kitchen floor because my twelve-year-old boss tricked me into drinking drugged champagne after a siege (by technologically advanced enemies) of the manor I was in charge of protecting had resulted in myself very nearly dying and my baby sister being in imminent danger of death by giant monster, and after we had successfully released the sentient alien creature (from a race that could easily go invisible) that we had kidnapped (and committed psychological torture on) in exchange for a large chunk of money, and I heard movement from an unknown entity upstairs while my sister was still unconscious and my boss was talking about Santa Clause of all things, and then my boss waved my concerns away, I would simply quit immediately.

okay I need to leave, but I've been poking at wips, and after a month in the trenches trying to find romance authors I like, it's crazy to return back to fanfic and just be like oh. shit. this is good. why can't I find stuff like this published??

for like 3 weeks i was wondering why i was sleeping so much and felt listless. and just now I managed to email 3 people and responded to a month old message in the span of an hour because I got back to TAKING MY FUCKIN MEDS..........

#MOTHER FFFFUCKER #to be fair. my doc said I could stop taking them while im on break since i wouldnt need to be constantly pumped on stimulants #im not sure if it was a side effect but i managed to take like 3 different naps in one day and STILL managed to sleep thru the whole night #at least 2 days into my break. the weird thing is i didnt feel more or less rested afterwards. but mentally i think im in a good place rn #to really put the level of awakeness im at rn i feel weirdly confident i could start one piece. also bc of that sick new opening it BANGS #the song is really good and im in love with the animation style. did some digging and it seems one of the lead animators is masato mori #but i could be wrong. it seems he also did some work on mp100 which could explain a lot lol.. he uses smear frames really well to convey #consistent movement and fluidity!!! someone else might have done color design but it works really really well esp with odas style!! #just love the overall vibe and aesthetic and id really love to study it and incorporate a bit of it into my art.. especially the thick #outlines which i think helps to separate characters and objects on screen. though i have to say the style is definitely more suited to #animation bc of the simpleness and smears. maybe that will help me explore shapes and perspective when i draw... i wanna get better #at drawing poses and angles but i have a hard time wrapping my head around space and using perspective guide lines NGHHHH #i wonder if it has to do with my dogshit ability to judge distance. not depth perception but like. judge how far smth is in metres etc #im also wearing an N95 for the first couple weeks back bc of the wave. absolutely NO BODY is wearing a mask its so fucking over #where im sitting ive heard 5 different people coughing probably not into their elbows!!! and im just. head in my fucking hands #there was a kid sitting a couple seats away in class coughing as he pleases and i wanted to grab him in a chokehold so badly. i hope starscream's earthspark origin is similar to his idw origin where he was poor/lower class and had to basically crawl to the top. because it would be something bitter and poetic if he joined megatron for liberation and to never be kept down again, and even saw being a decepticon as freedom and rebellion. but at the end of it all, he is trapped again, a guinie pig for humans, and the movement and person that he looked up to the most for freedom and liberty abandoned him.

and not just starscream but all the other decepticons. i know that megatron is the main focus and him joining the autobots/humans is the primary focus. but i really just want to see other decepticons who gave up everything and who were terribly oppressed by the cybertronian government give their opinions on what megatron did and how they feel that his movement was worse than being a slave, miner, lower class, etc.

WFC and idw really delves into just how shitty the lives of the decepticons were before the uprising and i'd love to get just a bit of that in earthspark and give voice to the rest of the decepticons. megatron had a connection to optimus which i think is what made it easier for him to turn. but then if we see the reasons the other decepticons didn't turn, i hope that it's handled in a respectful way? not just 'oh they're evil and aren't willing to make peace like megatron is so they don't deserve freedom' and more so 'we gave up everything and or we had nothing, and this movement is the only reason we're living so we're not going to dare give it up even if megatron does'.

and i 100% acknowledge that this probably isn't going to happen because while i do respect earth spark for not daring to delve deeply into a lot of socio political issues, i think that the lore and decepticons vs autobots is just not something that is going to be handled in here and that's okay because that's what fics are for <3.

revolutionising the world w my nanami video essay someday i promise you guys. in the meantime this is a playlist of daise approved utena video essays if you even care. i have um’d and ah’d about including the clear and sweet aou analysis series bc i think it’s wonderful in so many ways but do disagree with the fundamental read of the movie so. ehh. my general rule for including something on this playlist is ‘the analysis must be considered, somewhat original, something that i either agree with or think is valuable to keep in mind’. if there was less ‘the series isn’t as good’ and half-reaching at what my interpretation of aou is, then that aou series would probably be on here. i do recommend it but it just doesn’t feel right to have it on here sorryyy
