I think about this exchange between Javi and Mariana at the beginning of S3 a bit

I always think about the memories of those who have passed in franchises like The Walking Dead, how the only way that our passed love ones won’t be forgotten is to remember them and spread their memories. How the only physical remnant of Lee that Clementine has left is his blood stains on his hat.

I wish this was expanded more on in S3, the final episode has Javier tell David that your legacy, how people will remember you, is important but I don’t think that was really a major theme of the season and I wish it was. Maybe if Mariana didn’t get Brian Griffin’d this would have been a major element of the story but who knows

What was your main problem with ANF, whatever it be story or character related

Everything, nearly. The story is so broken. The entire story is based on you either not trying to or intentionally cucking your supposedly dead brother😭 and also supposedly ruining everyone’s life at the same time. They cut out so much good stuff (slaughterhouse, more sinister New Frontier, better flashbacks) and added the most useless and random characters. Like what feelings do I have towards Prescott? I met these people 20 minutes ago and now im suddenly the devil cause some jackasses think I “stole” their gas and kidnapped me😭

Joan is such a bad antagonist, they were better off having Badger as the leader in that case. Eleanor is so bipolar, Tripp is the softest 7 foot tall man I’ve ever seen, Gabe is just…. Why? Why is he so annoying😭

They did well with the Garcia’s, but the rest of the story probably has like three or four good characters. For example, I actually liked Ava, and then she gets the worst death ever. And don’t get me started on the Kenny/Jane flashbacks.

Javier Garcia is very well-written, but wasting a character of his potential on such a terrible project was arguably the worst handling of a top tier character I’ve seen.

Reuniting with David is great, and picking between Kate and David makes sense, but WHY WHY WHY must it be some cuck shit instead of just like maybe you think David is too insane or Kate is just trying to make you give up on your brother.

Javier: Javier smiled to himself, watching Y/N as they entered the Richmond gates. “Welcome back,” he said, setting down the tools he was holding. He was helping chop and arrange firewood with some newer survivors, but abandoned it quickly when Y/N walked in. All Y/N could do was smile, nervously rubbing at one of their arms. “Thanks,” they said softly. Why was it always so hard for them to speak when Javi was nearby? “How did collecting go?” Javi asked. Y/N was so busy planning what they would say next that they almost completely missed his question. “Oh, good!” Y/N responded after a beat of delay, processing his question. “Lots of firewood was collected. We even managed to find a squirrel.” Javi whistled, impressed. “Sounds like we’ll be eating like kings tonight then, huh?” He turned, his hands on his hips, smirking Y/N’s way. They could feel their knees go weak, but cleared their throat as a means of composing themselves. “Can I help you unpack?” Javi asked, he was fiddling with the bottom of his shirt - something he rarely did - as he spoke. His eyes drifted down Richmond’s dirt, man-made road as he awaited their response. With rosy cheeks and a beaming smile, Y/N nodded. Realizing he wasn’t looking at them, they became even more flustered. “Yes! Please. I’d really appreciate that.” God they were a mess. They just didn’t know that Javi found it adorable. They spent the rest of their day in the kitchen taking stock, and near the firepit, chatting, organizing firewood, and getting ready to cook dinner together.

Luke: Luke smiled as Y/N started toward the cabin, two large bags of wood in their arms. One was hanging off their back, the other they were holding with both arms, as if to balance them out. By the time they got in through the front doors, they dropped the bags off and sighed. “Tired?” Luke asked, leaning against a railing at the top of the stairs. Y/N almost jumped out of their skin - a hand to their chest - taking a deep breath. “I thought you would be sleeping,” Y/N said, scurrying up the stairs to be closer to him. Their heart was racing; now for more than one reason. “I couldn’t sleep.” Luke said passively, smirking their way. It made Y/N almost collapse. “Decided I’d wait until you came back from foraging.” Y/N practically short-circuited. “W-Waiting? For me?” Luke raised a brow, confused by their sudden stumbling. They were normally so well put-together. “Why?” They started fiddling with their fingers - something they did whenever they were nervous - and Luke knew. Y/N didn't need to explain it. Luke just knew how to read them like a book. “It’s not bad,” he said sweetly with a chuckle, not wanting to put them at ill-ease. “I just wanted to chat. I miss it when we had the same shifts.” Y/N’s cheeks flushed. “Really?” “Yeah, you’re a blast.” Luke said, setting a hand on their shoulder. “I put on some coffee if you want some. Wanna catch up?” Y/N nodded, unable to speak. If they did, they might risk releasing a jumbled slew of embarrassment. “Sure.” They managed to squeak out. When Luke turned his back, Y/N jumped for joy, followed by quickly scurrying after him.

1,000 views Milestone and more

Hello everyone. Today I have come to talk about the most important milestone the fic has ever reached. A little bit ago, New Frontier reached 1k views on Ao3 and it honestly made me so proud, happy and satisfied with seeing such a number, even after months of hiatus and inactivity. The support that this fic has received is... honestly something I never expected.

If I may go off character for a bit, I want to tell you guys a few guys. I created this fic just for myself, for my own sake and to show the fandom some cool stuff, some action and my type of writing that I tend to like and go for. The first version was very much a showcase of inexperience and lack of understanding for a lot of things when it came to writing, but it was still the most fun I had writing the fic.

Then I went to reread what I had created and written... I started to see the cracks, to see that what I had put on the paper just wasn't as amazing as I first thought it was. So with that in mind, I decided to start going back and rewrite previous chapters, as it felt necessary and I felt it could elevate the story to higher levels and although that was pretty fun at first, it started to drain me pretty bad in the lenghtier chapters. It started to feel like a job.

The chapters have absolutely improved and I feel the fic's direction is in a much better spot, but I had to fight myself to get the motivation to keep going. Being honest, I was very much considering the possibility of dropping the fic on its entirety. as it truly felt that draining and boring to write. I wasn't doing new stuff, I was just rewriting older stuff and noticing my many mistakes!

My friends like CharmmyColour and LonelyLittleShips adviced me to write other parts of the story that were more exciting or thrilling. I honestly didn't think that was going to work out and I still tried to write through Chapter's 5 and 6 with a pessimistic and saddened state of mind.

That was until GoldenTulipLynx (my current cowriter) came into my life a year ago. We started to discuss more of the fic and he actively encouraged me more and more to write a few months ago. He told me to do so at least once a week to get some progress done and I did. It wasn't a perfect process, but it definitely led me to write more. Then he suggested me to write something exciting and for the first time, I actually listened to that advice and...

It worked. It gave me my inspiration back somewhat and it made me want to get writing more and more. If it wasn't for his inspiration and also the encouragement from my other friends, I may have cancelled the fic as a whole, so for that I'm truly grateful to them.

What I'm also grateful for is have fans and followers that have been patient, loyal and comprehensive towards the fic's state and progress. This took so long because I wanted to give you guys something worthy of that much of a wait and also have fun while doing so.

I really wanted this message to be special, as I felt the ocassion was the perfect time to do so. Truly, thank you guys. Thank you for still being here and I hope you look forward to what else I have cooking up.

And because I knew this was such a special ocassion/milestone, I also wanted to give you guys something exceptional, so with that in mind... I commissioned some art for New Frontier as a treat for you guys, one that displays Cavendish with his rifle in a wonderful forest, one that's going to be the usual hangout spot for him and Dakota.

i finished a new frontier today and I can't believe it has a reputation for being the least favorite?? clem is always a fave but it's refreshing to see her from an outside perspective as you're allowed moments of reprieve to see her backstory and being able to have that suspense is much more engaging than just playing as her again. also isn't so much more interesting to be able to build a relationship with clem?? you get to live vicariously through javi. the break between seasons is so needed. not to mention the fact that the garcias bring such interesting plots and lovable characters into the mix. javi is maybe my top fav right behind clem. the awe factor when he brings that bat up to those walkers? the romance? the brothers strained yet powerful story?? also jesus? tripp? in short there will be no new frontier hate on this page ever

4: Currently working on A New Frontier Chapter 6, a story with another fic writter SheepishWitch and technically Stream of Emotions, but I don't know if I will ever put out that one.

5: A fic idea that I've had that I'll never write is definitely Trans Dakota. Yeah I know everybody loves it and what not, but I genuinely think I won't ever try to do it. I won't do it justice and it might come off as wrong or something alike and I just don't wanna think about how wrong I could end up writing it.

6: Yeah actually. CharmmyColour's A Normal Life, It Will Have To be Enough, LadyJuse's Meet The Parents, GiantRoboticPlatypusButt's It's Pretty Messed Up, Rotg5311's Flesh, Sandwolf's Where Your Loyalties Lie and LonelyLittleShip's Touch Me (Please Don't Let me Fall) 7: I have way too many fic ideas lol. I have two more western AU's for Cavendish and Dakota, one where they are pretty bad bandits and another where Cavendish is a rich owner of an enterprise and Dakota is the sheriff of the town and they get to meet each other in a saloon, a what if AU where Cavendish fails his B.o.T.T test and Dakota never went there in the first place, with Dakota becoming part of a mafia and Cavendish a pianist, one that Dakota is tasked with getting rid of but is unable to because he ends getting attached to Cavendish. Another AU that I would love to work with other people for, but most likely won't happen: Actors AU where the characters of the show were actors the entire time and what we saw of the show was also a show in the AU's reality, with Milo actually being a pretty shy kid and somewhat scared of interacting, Melissa being softer, Zack being a lot more confident on himself and being a star talent, Cavendish being a lot grumpier (yes even more) and an ego machine that will smack a water bottle away because it wasn't room temperature, but will still have a nicer side buried underneath all of that, while Dakota's a bit more closed off, quieter and tries to be Cavendish's friend. That does work for the most part and Cavendish would indeed consider him a friend, but you wouldn't think that's the case at all. I am honestly still missing ideas but these are the ones that I thought would be neat to share for now.

8: I am currently working on A New Frontier, my most treasured AU yet, which has Cavendish as a seasoned Earth agent that was sent to Mars, a place that's basically a mostly terraformed western planet and that will teach him new things in life and meet someone completely new: Vinnie Dakota, a lawman that's lived most of his life in there and hates folk from Earth, due to the culture surrounding it. Although the more he gets to know Cavendish, the more he will grow fond of him, the pair will learn stuff from their upbringings, see things in life differently, make Cavendish relive things from his past and the duo will be involved in a massive plot that's been orchestrated by a lot of people in the shadows.

I know a lot of people have told me that I really shouldn't be considering this piece of work my peak, but I really feel that is going to be the case lol. It has everything I have ever loved in terms of aesthetics, characters, interactions and storytelling and I don't think I'll ever have as much fun or put so much thought into things as what I'll try to do for this AU. I am seriously looking forward to working on it and I really wanna deliver something that will leave an impact in a lot of people. Thank you so much for your questions!
