The Hunter Becomes The Hunted

Ember has yet another argument with Skulker after he blows her off once again for one of his hunting escapades. When it becomes clear that nothing she says is getting through to him she gets fed up to the point of blasting his mech suit to bits.

But she doesn't stop there. The moment a nearby natural portal leading into Gotham just so happens to appear, she doesn't hesitate to snatch up the now defenseless blob of a ghost and chuck him through it, intending to leave him at the mercy of the numerous ecto starved shades for a bit.

"Get back to me once you figure out what's more important to you!

Until then, have fun dealing with those shades without all your little toys, Mister "Ghost Zones greatest hunter!" is the last thing Skulker hears before the tear between realms closes up, leaving him all alone in a random alley.

Skulker's just in the process of dusting himself off while grumbling over Ember being so overbearingly fickle and demanding when he detects the presence of something. Something deadly, not just to him but to any ecto laced being. Something feral and ravenous. This is made all the more obvious when he starts hearing heavy breathing followed by animalistic growling.

Filled with dread Skulker slowly and reluctantly turns to face the threat. And to his shock is met with a familiar face. "Whelp, is that you?" Instead of answering the ghost child steps further into the dim lighting, giving him a clearer view of his face.

Only then does the ghostly blob with legs realize this isn't Phantom. The skin tone is completely wrong, so is the hero attire. And for some odd reason the gleaming eyes staring him down while the child drooled hungrily were glowing midnight blue instead of toxic green.

"You...You're not the whelp." This time there's a response. The lookalike takes another step forward and finally speaks. "You smell delicious," he rasps out, then gives a fanged grin, licking his lips and salivating even more profusely. "and probably taste even better."

now that i finished the game its starting to sink in that, outside of dlc, this is probably the last time we will reasonably see this era/incarnation of link and zelda :')

Yeah, I actually spoke with my sister about this last night! She just finished the game and was going on about a third game with them (not including aoc) and I was like :/ “let’s not”

While I LOVE this era. I adore all the characters, the little snippets of details we get through npc dialogue, the map, and essentially everything else…. I’m ready to let this Zelda and Link go. Beyond another Hyrule Warriors game, I do hope that this is it.

Tears of the Kingdom gave us everything we needed. It gave Zelda and Link everything they were deprived of in Breath of the Wild.

Zelda never had a supportive father figure and someone willing to aid her own research and problems. Rauru listened, guided her to Mineru, and was more than happy to support her through all her choices. Zelda never had a teacher, someone to help her understand her powers. Sonia not only provided another motherly figure (because I’ll never ignore Urbosa’s role in Zelda’s life), but she taught Zelda and helped her understand her powers even if she still couldn’t fully control them.

Link was, beyond the partial aid of the old man and limited companions, alone. He went through this perilous journey by himself and finding his memories of a life he could not remember. And in ToTK, Link is hardly alone in those battles. He’s constantly aided by the sages and he can keep their spirits with him throughout his entire journey. He has his memories, he’s fighting to get Zelda back and bring her home.

Zelda and Link have been through a lot. Too much. To have another tragedy forced upon them… I’m okay not having another game with them. Narratively, their stories are perfectly wrapped up. All the tiny loose ends are perfect to expand upon in future games, it allows the developers a chance to create a new Zelda world with new mechanics and plot points.

And let’s all be honest here, they can’t make another came without telling us point blank that zelink is canon LOL. (They can but y’all know what I mean)

This Zelda and Link have fought their good fight. I think it’s time for a new era.

thinking about how I convinced my brother to read tged and one of his first thoughts after reading the first 20 episodes was just to point out that khs does not draw muscles accurately,, (something about adding extra lumps where there shouldn't be any? I don't remember but it was a funny reaction-)

he also was confused by how everything in the manhwa seems to happen event after event with little to no thought process (like how I felt reading the cpsm manhwa the first time, not with tged for me though I don't know why) but we both agreed this is kinda just a characteristic of the medium..

anyways he switched over to the novel afterwards lol and I gave him my yonder account to read and I just had to stand there like.. yeah I spent actual money to read this.. yeah I have like a thousand coins...

okay i feel like im going insane and making a red string board in my head but I've watched that Ichiban and Kiryu conversation way too many times and i swear Kiryu has to be lying to seem cool or the "proposal" he's talking about isn't a standard proposal. a man with nothing to hide wouldn't have his face shift from being this smug

to being this caught off guard when he's asked to give details

that's not the look of a man who's been asked to reveal something personal that might be emberassing or uncomfortable, that's the face of a man who got caught in a lie and doesn't know how to follow up.

i know Kiryu is pulling a story out of his ass to hold up a manly persona. he's looking around trying to come up with something believable because he didn't think through his gut reaction of "I need to seem cool in front of this younger guy who (maybe) looks up to me". man's looking around the skyline as if his childhood idea of a tough, macho yakuza is gonna float down and give him a story to tell.

I can't even think of who he could be referring to unless he's exaggerating his relationship with Yumi or Kaoru? or if it has something to do with the woman he's protecting in Gaiden but I wouldn't think so since that's just a side story. of course it's not impossible that he could have tried to have a relationship during one of the gaps in time between games (à la Majima having an ex-wife between games), but that would be a really cheap way to write themselves out of Kiryu being generally uninterested in women. in conclusion?
