Bria: Hey, Gray!
Grayson: Hey...mom. You look... nice?
Bria: Thanks. But, you don't have to lie to protect my feelings. This obviously isn't my styling work. It's apart of my new "Monarchy-Approved" wardrobe.
Grayson: I'm not lying! It looks really nice. Where are you headed off to?
Bria: Since my days in hiding are over, time to see my hair dresser. Goodbye curls, hello "Monarchy-Approved" straight locs.
Grayson: Well, that sucks. I like your curly hair.
Bria: I know, me too. But, gotta fall in line these days.
Grayson: How are you holding up with... everything?
Bria: Oh, I'm fine! Don't worry about me, Gray. How are you? How did things go with Olivia's parents?
Grayson: Uh, well... it definitely could've gone better.
Bria: Oh, no. What happened? Do I need to pay a visit to Donovan because you know I will?
Grayson: No need, Mom. You should've seen it. Olivia completely laid into him!
Bria: What?? Sweet, innocent Olivia gave Lord Donovan the smoke?
Grayson laughs: Former Lord. But, yeah. She gave him the business. I've never seen her so mad. It was kind of... awesome.
Bria: I'm having a proud mama moment. Living here must be rubbing off on her.
Grayson laughs: Yeah, it was definitely giving Pre-Royal Bria or current royal Ella vibes.
Bria: Amazing. So, what even prompted her to go off? What did old crusty, dusty Donovan say?
Grayson: His usual I'm not good enough for his daughter spiel. He was pretty angry when I told him that... that I wanted to marry his daughter.
Bria gasps/squeals: My baby boy wants to get married!?!! Is this finally happening???
Grayson whispers: Mom, keep your voice down!
Bria whispers: Sorry, sorry! But, my baby boy is getting married. Oh, my Watcher. Do you have a ring? When are you doing it? Where are you doing it? Oh my! So many plans to be made! Let me call my assistant.
Grayson: Mom, mom! Relax. I'm still not that far along in my planning. I mean, I have an idea, but securing a ring has proven pretty dificult. I want something special and beautiful... like Olivia.
Bria: Oh, my Watcher. I'm dying. Grayson, follow me.
Grayson: Okay...
Bria: You see this ring here, Grayson?
Grayson: Yeah, it's beautiful. Wow.
Bria: It was your grandmother, Kendall's, ring.
Grayson surprised: Wow, really? I didn't know you had grandma's ring!
Bria: Yep. She wore it everyday even after your grandfather passed. In her will, she left this ring to me.
Bria: And ever since I've been praying to The Watcher that I could pass her ring down when one of you find your true love.
Grayson: Mom, what are you saying?
Bria: I'm saying that I want you to have this ring.
Grayson: Wait, really? You're giving me grandma's ring?
Bria: Yes! I know she would love Olivia and she'd be so proud of the man you've become and the life you're building. I know because that's exactly how I feel.
Grayson tearing up: Mom.. I- I don't know what to say.
Bria tearing up: Say you'll take it! That's a start.
Grayson laughs: Yes, yes. Of course, I will. Thank you so much, Mom.
Bria: Of course. I am so happy for you Grayson. I love you.
Grayson: I love you, too, Mom.

Alex!!! Thank you for the heart shaped fungi yesterday. In return, I would like to offer you this bouquet:
royal bluebell (generosity), this specific magnolia (because we talk about birds), purple orchid (admiration, also: respect)
I admire and respect you, and your generosity when reaching out to me to talk to me. You are a force of positivity and I hope to continue talking about birds with you. Happy belated Valentine's ♥️
Kay. Kay come here i need to HUG YOU SO TIGHTLY YOU WOULD HEAR YOUR RIBCAGE CRACKING (a good cracking, like with stretching, not like with breaking your ribs, of course). This is so thoughtful, aaaaahHHH i am not immune to the beauty of the flower language. And the bird shaped magnolia bud i'm- 🥺
I have opened this ask 3 times to answer it and couldn't find words up until this time, so i doodled my initial reaction instead:
Thank you so much, you are a delight and i hope this spring will bring us both many new bird sightings (and not only) to talk about!! 🐦💕

just imagining tiny Margo Madison having lain awake all night worrying about what to do in a nuclear attack and trying to ask her physicist father about it to understand what, scientifically, is the best course of action. he doesn't talk to her about much, but sometimes he'll be drawn on science, and, as her father, he's meant to protect her, isn't he?
he shuts down entirely, his already overwhelming guilt over his work magnified a thousand times by this so visceral manifestation of its damage coming from the daughter he's already let it take from him against his will. he can't comfort her, perhaps even scares her more with his reaction.
her mother, his wife, is angry with him, unable to understand why he can't even pretend to protect his daughter, why he can't show even a hint of the care she knows he has for them. she lies to Margo about her own fear and the reality of an attack. Margo doesn't believe her.
Margo goes to VB, who gives her the science, yes, but also a sermon advocating the just war theory and the costs of progress. It doesn't make her feel better but it makes her feel that she should, that she must pretend to in order to be a 'man' of science.
her father watches his friend doing this to his daughter, so trapped by his own guilt that he cannot intervene. he doesn't know how to teach her any alternatives and that makes the guilt even worse.
still, something in her has inherited or sensed his revulsion of this militarised reality. decades later, she will help prevent a nuclear apocalypse, the closest the world had come since the Cuban Missile Crisis. if he were still alive, he'd still probably not be able to say he was proud of her. he would be, though, in his own way.
she knows that and it makes her smile sadly. she's so angry and regretful at what was taken from them but she doesn't dwell on it: she has more work to do to get them closer to peace - the work he could never do.

headcanon sketch
I look forward to the day Rita can really smile behind their mask or when their face isn't covered. But also terrified because there's a possibility that if Rita goes into pure, unadulterated rage, they'll smile. Like we truly don't know if Rita ever smiles behind their mask so the idea of them smiling when angry is a headcanon of mine until proven otherwise.
(The text in the back says "Don't touch Morfonia" because I feel like if they do another Episode 5 ending where Morf gets hurt, it would be more aligned with when the two get much closer and Morf becomes someone Rita truly cares about and wouldn't want to lose. Up until Episode 10, they just saw each other as King and Servant. Now it's more of that line being blurred while maintaining Rita's neutrality but learning to depend on Morf more.)
If their pure rage is still them in their usual stoic expression, I would 100% love to see Yuzuki pull that off for Rita. She can make Rita so emotive with one eye and small movements so I'd like to see that kind of rage if Rita does have an episode where they just snap.
