A Story About Them (WTNV) will always be about Breekon and Hope (TMA). To me.

My plug: got a new strain... it's called "The Dark Planet".. will have you zonked out of your fucking mind
Me: psh... I'm sure it's nothing... the faceless old woman's given me harder shit...
Me 12 minutes later, looking up: the crates. they're ticking, and they're warm- warmer than the air around them, we need to deliver them,
My buddy The Man Who Is Not Short, pacing back and forth, eyes focused on one point in the empty sky, ceasing to exist: What is that? That planet up there. It’s so dark, and so close. It’s looming. It’s so close. I wonder if I could-

WtNV is a comedy but there are so many bits that are just undiluted horror or tragedy and I love it.
"A Story of Love and Horror" being so far removed from comedy that I find it genuinely distressing to hear, and it's about two incredibly minor characters
The fragmented horror of "Go to the Mirror?" that technically explains things while somehow leaving us with more questions
Cecil saying, "Stay tuned next for... I don't know. I don't care. Goodnight," at the end of episode 98
Learning what actually happened to Kevin in episode 73, "Triptych"
Literally the entire ending of episode 45, but especially, "'You know' says The Man Who Is Not Short, looking down at his crossword, 'I worry every time that I'm not going to finish these when I start them.'"
Like. It's a comedy podcast. This is a comedy.

Welcome to Nightvale Episode 45: a story about them ( a live reaction)
Huh... this is a different episode....
~~~~
Ahhh so these guys are why the tiny people that live in the city in the bowling ally are upset
~~~~
who is this blinded guy? (please don't be carlos, i feel like cecil would be a bit more mad being the narrator in this if it was though)
~~~~
ok we are switching stories:
They are wandering in the desert, Dana? you there girl?
~~~~
are they talking about tamika?
~~~~
bad lights... maybe helicopters?
~~~~
smiling god? them? strexcorp? other? ( i don't remember what this is referring too)
~~~~
And now the weather: I like it!
~~~~~
ok back to the story about them. I'm nervous for this blind mand
~~~~
oh no he has knife (the man who is not tall) and that man is from night vale... who is this guy?
~~~~
what is that (man who is not short) aw rip man, he ded
~~~~
so... the one guy watches the other guy die saying "someone has to be blamed" and then maybe cries
~~~~
unblinded guy who is not short is now that guy? man I'm confused
~~~~
TLDR: weird story but good to know that someone is stealing buildings from the tiny city which is why they mad
If my mom sees a significant amount of blood she gets lightheaded, and has fainted on some occasions. Once it happened when we were kids, I wasn't there to witness it but I heard the story from my dad. Basically my brothers, around 7 or 8 at the time, were playing outside while my mom was making their lunch, and she accidentally cut her finger. It wasn't anything serious, but it drew a fair bit of blood and she passed out. My dad saw this and rushed over, but he didn't really know what to do so he just sort of started slapping her to wake her up (not recommended, but he had no idea and panicked)
At that exact moment my brothers both came in from playing, and all they saw was our mom unconscious on the floor and our dad slapping her. So, like, without even saying a word to each other they both just INSTANTLY start whaling on him, like, full blown attack mode to defend our mom. Which obviously didn't help the situation, but she did wake up and everything was fine.
Now our dad says that he's actually really glad they attacked him over what they thought was going on, because it means he raised good boys. And I still think that's true, they're very good boys.
Episode 45, "A Story About Them" is one of the most tragic episodes of Welcome to Night Vale, and I will die on this hill
It is a tragedy about a premeditated future, and an unfortunate friendship between someone who is good at his job and someone who wasn't. The Man Who Is Not Short was too genuine, too focused on things other than his work. The Man Who Is Not Tall knew that, I think, and he knew what was going to happen. He was even involved in making sure it happened the way it was supposed to.
His new partner is going to be good at his job. They will not be each other's foil, anymore
