A Tale of Two Stans, alternate version
Stan: Hey, Ma?
Caryn: Oh my goodness, Stanley! I haven't heard from you in forever. How are you doing?
Stan: Eh, could be worse. I'm actually with Ford right now. He's not doing so good.
Caryn: Oh dear, what's wrong? I knew living in the middle of the woods by himself would be too hard for him.
Stan: Well it's sort of that. But also, he summoned the powers of Hell and now there's a demon that possesses his body when he sleeps
Caryn: H-have you called a Rabbi?
Stan: This demon's an atheist so unfortunately the powers of God don't work on him.

x a TALE of TWO STANS x
Gravity Falls Poster Series 32/40 🖤
So much happens in this episode that I could have painted but for some reason this simple image of two hands just stuck in my mind… something about it seemed very emotional… what do you think?
I discovered Gravity Falls when I least expected it. I expected to just sit back, relax and watch a fun cartoon. But it ended up being so much more than that. It spoke to me on such a personal level, from making me nostalgic for the summers of my childhood to identifying with the power of sibling love. (Can I also mention how stunning the animation is?) Here’s my own little love letter to it. c:

Taking a STANd
"...but when the summer's over, you give me my house back, you give me my name back, and this Mystery Shack junk is over forever. You got it?"
Stan looked taken aback, which irritated Ford even further; honestly, what had he been expecting? That he'd be happy about coming home to find that his entire identity had been stolen and turned into a freak show? That was ridiculous even for Stanley. So it was better to get things straight with him now, and then once summer was over Ford could get started getting his life back on track-
It took Ford a moment to register what his brother had just said. He blinked for a taken-aback second as he looked at Stan, whose expression had turned from surprised and hurt to something far more stubborn.
"...No?! What do you mean no?!"
"It's the opposite of yes. I thought you remembered that from English class, Stanford." Stan's tone only infuriated him further.
"You can't tell me no! I'm telling you that I want-"
"I heard you the first time. And I'm telling you that I'm not doing that." Stan's position shifted faintly, until he looked like he was ready for another fight. "I'm not giving up my house or my job. Not again."
"This is my house!" Ford snapped. "I have every legal right-"
"Who's gonna believe you over me?"
Ford froze. Stan just glared at him, not looking smug so much as...resolute. "Everyone in this town knows who I am, knows that this is my place. And they don't know you from Adam. If things got legal, you wouldn't stand a chance."
"You'll what?" Stan stepped closer, forcing him to take a small step back. "Beat me up some more?" Suddenly they were nose to nose. "Go ahead."
Seconds later he pulled away and marched for the stairs, leaving Ford seething in fury and disbelief behind him.
Stan's stomach twisted with an uncomfortable cocktail of rage, hurt and guilt as he went upstairs.
Had he really just said all that?
Had he actually threatened to steal Ford's identity again, but for real this time?
This was a mistake, he'd gone too far and he knew it, he should just turn back now and-
It was far, far too late to apologize. Besides, Ford had made it pretty clear what Stan's desire to fix things was worth to him.
With a sinking heart he continued up to his room, to try and get away from the mess that was all that remained of his greatest achievement.
