Hello! I hope this finds you well!
I wanna tell you that your Rocket x Readers bring me so much comfort and that your writing is great!
I was listening to “Awesome Mix Vol. 1” and I came to the song “Fooled around and fell in love”, and I was wondering if I could make a request of Reader working on something (it could be a new weapon, or a little gadget, anything you choose) and she is listening to her brothers mix tap and that song is playing in the background and Rocket sees her working and singing along while swaying along to the song. Rocket and Reader have unspoken feelings for each other, and maybe they have an unspoken confession to singing this together near the end.
I thought this was a really cute idea, and I’m sorry if I didn’t explain it well enough. I also understand if you don’t want to do this.
But I wish you a good day/night/evening!
just watched Gotg and now im PUMPED
it is a personal hc of mine that rocket can sing beautifully given that mr bradley cooper can sing (he sang with lady gaga)
Some Unsung Thing
Tumblr media
It was a slow day on Knowhere, things were finally starting to fall into place and everyone finding their roles on the old sentient head.
It was a slow morning, Rocket awoke to soft sunny weather shining through his curtains, rolling onto his back in no rush.
Mornings were his favorite, laying around in soft blankets, music playing quietly and a comforting silence he had come to really enjoy.
When his hunger got too much, he got to leisurely head downstairs and have breakfast with Groot and Cosmo.
But his favorite part of the day was just before noon, deep in the Milano's ship workspace. Quill had quite generously given the ship to you, his younger sister and most recent member to the Guardians family.
Without wasting a second, you had taken over the complete under carriage and turning it into your own personal "man cave" as you liked to call it.
It became an unspoken thing between you two, Rocket coming in to visit and you both simply tinkering in silence. You both had an appreciation for music and machines and found the company quite enjoyable.
His boots clunked down the metal stairs, echoing off the walls of his old home. He heard you before he saw you, humming and tapping your feet to the music playing from the back wall.
Stopping just outside the door he forced the smile off his face before leaning in and knocking on the door frame. Crossing his arms and leaning against the metal he gave you a curt nod, thankful he couldn't blush when you lifted your head and smiled.
No words needed to be said as you continued on your current project and Rocket went over to his respective table, moving around some loose odds and end to make you think he was working.
His pocket knife sat in the midst of the mess, his alibi for the last few weeks as to why he had been spending so much time in here.
At first it was an accident that he met you down here, he needed a tool to fix the dumb thing and caught you adding to your own blasters.
He was going to grab the tool and leave, but you insisted he stayed, after all, it had been his home only a few months ago.
Now Rocket thanked every morning that had you in it. You were so bright and optimistic, and smart and sarcastic.
You were intoxicating.
Rocket knew very early on that he cared about you, after all, you were his best friends sister, but there was always something more. Something he could never figure out. It drove him insane, he wanted to spend every moment of every day with you, but in your presence he stuttered and felt hot and couldn't keep his wits about him.
Which is what lead him here, now unable to say anything of actual value for a conversation, only looking at you through a reflection of sheet metal behind his table.
Gods, you were beautiful. Which is surprising given your brother.
Your hair in a loose bun, strands falling down around your ears and in front of your eyes. Your cute little focused pout, the way you angrily huff when you couldn't get the parts into the right places.
Flipping his knife between his fingers, he took a deep breath. He had to do something about this, he couldn't stand it...this deep ache in his chest whenever you were around.
As if the Milano were on his side, the next song was one of Peter's favorites. Fooled around and Fell in Love.
Rocket had heard it before, Quill played it a lot when he was in a sappy mood. But today it was different.
And in a cruel twist of fate, you started to sing along, tapping your foot on the ground and softly swaying in your chair. You weren't the best singer, but the way you smiled at the words, the way your eyes lit up made it all worth the while.
Rocket wasn't apposed to singing, alone at least, he'd done it in the shower dozens of times, but now the words were begging to be sung.
What were you doing to him? He slumped, finally sitting down on his stool, preparing to fake working.
He sighed, feeling his nerves get the better of him. Getting out one of his screwdrivers and untwisting the bolt on his pocket knife.
Around the middle of the song, you dropped the welder, it rolled off the table to the floor. You stopped your singing to bend down and get it, at the same time the song hit its instrumental part.
Rocket felt himself start to sweat, feeling a sudden burst of courage. The song continued and before he fully knew what was going on, he started to sing.
It was soft and quiet like yours had been, and he heard you stop your own words to listen to him. He saw your smile in the metallic reflection and his heart leapt as you started to sing along with him.
He didn't know what it meant, or what would happen next, but for the first time he truly felt happy and free from his feelings. He knew in that moment he didn't care what his future held so long as you were there.
The song ended and he inhaled sharply, hands loosely holding his pocket knife and screwdriver. He heart was pounding against his chest, he forced his eyes up into the reflective wall.
He gasped seeing you staring right back at him.
"Wanna do a duet?"
He laughed. He did, he really did.

Fem!Star Lord/Penny Quill x Reader
Art found here
Tumblr media
Your Star Lady’s birthday was fast approaching and the other Guardians weren’t much help. You would not be going to them for advice ever again. You got the following advice from them:
“Present her with the head of your enemy“ Drax chimed in. “I proposed to my wife with that one”
“I really don’t care” Nebula said.
“Want me to bomb a moon so it says P+Y/N 4Ever?” Rocket asked. Lylla smacked him upside the head for that one. “What?!”
“Get a gift from the heart” Lylla told you. “Penny loves you for you”
“I am Groot” Groot said. Surprisingly that was the best advice.
You searched the junk shops on all of Knowhere. Every single one. It took some extreme searching but you found the perfect gift for Penny Quill. You slaved away at it for weeks, making sure that Penny didn’t suspect a thing.
Then came her big day. Penny awoke in her little apartment on Knowhere, your presence bringing a smile to her face as she woke up.
“Hey baby” she lets out a little giggle.
“Hey my Star Lady” you pepper her face with kisses. “Happy birthday”
“Is it my birthday? I don’t feel any wiser”
“Well I’m the wisest of the two of us” you smirk, earning a light punch from your lady.
Her beach blonde curls bounce as she jumps on you, playfully punching you and then kissing you. Her giggles fill the air. Penny collapses against your chest, her gentle giggles warming your heart.
“I love you” you whisper
“I love you”
“Come on,” you try to get up, “the team’s waiting”
You guide Penny out the center of Knowhere, the entire place decorated with 70s and 80s memorabilia. Lylla and Rocket really outdid themselves. Cosmo runs up, jumping around Quill.
“We love Star Lady” the dog exclaims.
Mantis comes out with a cake, “I think Kraglin outdid himself”
“Thanks sis,” Penny gives Mantis a hug. Kraglin gives her a proud smile.
And then came the gifts. Drax presented Penny with his favorite knife and a bag of zarg nuts. Mantis gave Penny a Cheers shirt. Nebula made some upgrades to the Bowie. Rocket and Lylla upgraded Penny’s helmet and rocket boots. Groot brought Penny a homemade sculpture of her and you helping to raise Groot when he was only a potted plant. Cosmo left a dead Orlani at Penny’s feet. And finally came you.
Your hard work was finally about to pay off. You pull out a small box and hand it to Penny.
Penny unwrapped the box and saw it. Your labor of love: a new Walkman and a trio of cassette tapes. A copy of Awesome Mix Vol. 1 and 2. And one of your own.
“C-Cosmic Mix Vol 1?” Penny looks to you with tears in her eyes.
“You’re an out of this world girl. Kraglin filled me in on the songs from volume 1.” You explain as you hook up the Walkman with your cosmic mix to the sound system. Penny clicks the play button.
The song begins to play and Penny can’t help but smile. It doesn’t take long for all of Knowhere to join in dancing.
You and Penny sway to the beat of the song. Penny wraps her arms around your neck.
“You’re the only one I want to listen to music with” she gives you a kiss.
“Happy birthday, my Star Lady”
Drax surpringly smiles, “I still think we could’ve gone to Earth and kidnap this warrior Ralph Macchio. She always spoke of him”
“Drax no!!” Mantis practically yells back. “Not after the time with Kevin Bacon!!”

Jensen Sunday Solo Panel JIB11
Jensen's panel was after Drake Rodger's and Jojo Fleites one and at one point they had turned their chairs around to try and sit like Jared does so when Jensen went on stage for his panel and noticed the chairs he was wondering why they were facing the wrong way and asked if Jared had just come up there 😂
If Sam were a girl, how would the dynamic between Dean and Sam be different? He jokes that the hair would be the same, but honestly, he doesn't think it would be that much different. He doesn't think the gender necessarily matters in that storytelling per say he thinks you could swap out a brother for a sister and then still be badass Winchesters. x
If Dean and C were reunited again, how does he think the reunion would go? He's sure it would go how everyone thinks it would go (did you suddenly forget what fandom you're adressing?), there would be a big embrace and then he says that Dean would ask to talk about that goodbye but then he smiles and shakes his head and says he's kidding that Dean would just say 'hey buddy, good to see you old pal'. That he doesn't know, that maybe someday we'll get to see that, that it'd be interesting. x
Can he talk about the creative process behind the making of the new Radio Company album and making it different from the previous two? It definitely has a different sound, and that was intentional. For the first album they didn't really know if they were trying to be specific on a certain sound they just kinda wrote and did the things that they liked and were inspired by a variety of different types of music. He and Steve were talking about the first album and they got inspired by everything from Metallica to Motown, and he thinks that's reflected in Vol. 1 but he would say there's not a whole lot of consistency throug out album 1 and even through out album 2 it's kind of a mix of slightly different styles and different influences, and those two kind of stand alone together. They wanted to make this third one kind of a detachmen from that style and make it more specific in a style of music that he and Steve both really like so that's what they were going for, and he feels there was a little more consistency in this particular album. So, they went into it thinking it about that, there were probably 5 to 7 songs they wrote for this album that didn't make it which he knows is a pretty common thing for a lot of musicians to do, they'll write an abundance of music and then they widdle it down so there were ones that just didn't feel right but he hopes they get to find homes for them at some point. The ones that they picked for the album just felt like they went together. x
What would be a dream project for him, or a director he'd love to work with? His dream job is to just be telling fun, interesting stories through fun, interesting characters and if he can do that with people that he works well with and respects and loves collaborating with that's his dream. Whoever that might be, he could give a list of names that he thinks he'd like to work with them but they might be horrible people so he might not want to work with them, in fact he was talking to a friend of his in the industry who is a director and his friend was telling him about an experience that he had recently on his set with a very well known actor who Jensen thinks is wonderful, and after his friend was done telling him his experience with this actor Jensen was like 'cool, yeah, don't wanna work with them but I'll still watch their movies'.
So, that's what he gets excited about, working with people he respects and who also enjoy what they do and like to collaborate. That's his biggest thing like whenever he was fortunate enough to direct it wasn't him dictating and telling someone how to do something, he would be the complete opposite asking asking for input and saying let me help you make that work, and it was just a really kind of awesome collaborative thing and that's really what he loves the most about doing what he does that kind of magic sauce that happens when two or three or four people get together and are able to tell a story in a way that is exciting. x
What is something he did as a teen or a young man that he'd be horrified about his kids doing, and what would he do against it? He would lock the windows and put alarms on his kids cause he was a serial sneak outing kind of teenager. Back in the day they didn't have alarms on their house, or camera doorbells and he had a big sliding window, so he'd stuff his pillow under the covers to make it look like he was still laying there and he was gone, and he'd be gone all night. And he got into some trouble, he did stupid things, but now- kids can't sneak out this days. To which the fan pops his bubble and tells him he'd be surprised. So he doesn't know what he'd do, he'll probably just try and tell them 'let me tell you from experience this is the kind of trouble you can get in when you do stupid things and try to avoid that you're gonna do what you do and I'll be there for you always but please don't'. But he'd put like tracking devices on them and that's another thing too his brother and sister in law, they have teenage boys and they're oldest they have the tracking thing on their phone so they know where he is at all times so that's something he'll have but he guesses if they wanted to do something bad they could just leave their phone behind. x
What was the inspiration for the name Radio Company? They kind of kicked around a few different ideas for a name and they kept thinking about the music itself, they wanted something that's easy and something that could like keep you company and like something you'd hear on the radio. Something that's nice and easy and fun, and not overly one way or another, not too serious or not too poppy just a nice, easy keep you company on the radio. Thus, Radio Company. x
Could he give us a hint at what's next project wise for him? He says if one notices at the end of s3 of The Boys, Soldier Boy didn't die so that's an option, that he's not saying anything just that it's an option if Kripke wanted to use it, it's there...then he says he thinks there's probably something in that realm that may be happening this year at some point. Jensen I know you were asked to but don't tease us this way! I want to see him back as Soldier Boy so badly 😩
Then beyond that he just recently signed a deal, he thinks the announcement will be coming out very soon. He thinks it's supposed to be announced next week cause he thinks it's supposed to start on his birthday but it's something that will leave more questions 🤔 x
Is there an actor or actress who has passed away, or has retired, that he would have liked to have worked with? He immediately says Paul Newman. And there are others that he at one point thought he would have liked to work with but now he knows he would not like Steve McQueen he has heard was not pleasant on set, Marlon Brando probably not the easiest guy to work with but Paul Newman had a very good reputation and he was also a stellar actor, and he grew up watching his movies. x
If Jared was on The Boys would Jensen like him with him or against him, in the Seven or the Boys? He jokes that Jared would probably be better in the superhero world cause he's a giant man baby but seriously he would like to see Jared on the Seven, he'd make it the Eight. And then he jokes again that his name would be giraffe boy *snort* x
What would he reccomend visitors from Europe do in America? If they'd never been to the US, he would say New York is top of the list, he thinks New Orleans is one of the most unique cities the US has to offer just from architecture, culture, the food which is incredible, and then also probably something in the pacific northwest that it's just beautiful out there; San Francisco is great but you can skip LA. But there's a lot of really cool, small towns too that's one of the great things about the US that you can go to New York, rent a car and just drive West and see where the road takes you there's lots to see out there. x

The original art by Neal Adams for the wraparound cover for Superman (vol. 1) #252, June 1972.
This issue was a 100-Page Super Spectacular that contained reprint stories of Superman (the original Powerstone story from the Golden Age), as well as Golden Age stories featuring Dr. Fate, Hawkman, Black Condor, the Spectre, Starman, and the Ray.
I guess Adams decided to include more of DC’s flying superheroes to fill-out the cover.  It’s lknd of deceptive advertising, as Kid Eternity, Lightly, Black Racer, Shining Knight, the Silver Age Green Lantern, the Golden Age Green Lantern, the Silver Age Hawkman and Hawkgirl, Red Tornado, Supergirl, and the Shining Knight aren’t inside the book.  But it’s an awesome Neal Adams cover, so the court will allow it.
That image of Superman is arguably the DC Comics used the most for merchandizing and ads throughout the 1970s and early 1980s; mores than the running Superman image I posted yesterday.  DC used the image on the covers of Superman, right over the logo, for a brief time.
It’s also been copied a million times.  There were plenty of ads where the image was used, with only minor changes to the costume.  Heck, it was even used for a newspaper ad for an X-rated spoof film of Superman, right after Superman the Movie was released.

About Me: Favorite Albums
Music isn't something I talk much about here on my blog, mostly because I don't feel like I'm qualified enough to talk about these sorts of things. I know movies like the back of my hand, but I'm definitely not smart enough to dissect what makes music good beyond "I like how it sounds."
But hey, I'm trying to help you get to know me, so here are thirty albums I like the sound of from a variety of artists. My big rule is I have to like at least five songs on any given album for it to qualify. I've listed my top three from each here, so the other two I'll leave to your imaginations (except for my #1 favorite, for which you'll get all of my top 5).
Honorable mentions: Pinkerton - Weezer, Under the Covers, Vol. II - Ninja Sex Party, Montero - Lil Nas X, Poodle Hat - Weird Al, Bad Hair Day - Weird Al, Master of Puppets - Metallica, License to Ill - Beastie Boys, Thriller - Michael Jackson, Purple Rain - Prince, Teenage Dream - Katy Perry, and the so bad it’s good masterpiece Angelic 2 the Core - Corey Feldman. I also didn't include the soundtracks to stage musicals, but the 90s version of Cats and the 80s version of Starlight Express are also some of my favorites.
30. The Hazards of Love - The Decemberists
Tumblr media
A tale of a tragic romance told in the form of a concept album, this would almost certainly make the list even if it didn't have some of the best villain songs I've ever heard.
Favorite Songs:
3. “Won’t Want for Love (Margaret in the Taiga)”
2. “The Queen’s Rebuke/The Crossing”
1. “The Rake’s Song”
29. Youthanasia - Megadeth
Tumblr media
Quite simply, a fantastic metal album. Not much more to say than that!
Favorite Songs:
3. “Youthanasia”
2. “A Tout le Monde”
1. “Family Tree”
28. In the Court of the Crimson King - King Crimson
Tumblr media
Even if it was just the semi-title track that I loved, this album would probably make the list. It's prog rock perfection.
Favorite Songs:
3. "Moonchild"
2. "21st Century Schizoid Man"
1. "The Court of the Crimson King"
27. Saturday Night Fever - Various Artists
Tumblr media
The Bee Gees obviously are the stars of the show on this soundtrack album, but it also has one of my favorite things: Disco remixes of classical music.
Favorite Songs:
3. “A Fifth of Beethoven”
2. “Night on Disco Mountain”
1. “Stayin’ Alive”
26. The Marshal Mathers LP 2 - Eminem
Tumblr media
While the original album is a classic in its own right and nothing on this one is as immediately iconic as "The Real Slim Shady" or "Stan," I do think that this older, more mature Eminem reflecting back on his career and flexing his skills is overall the better package. This was a real comeback for him, after multiple less-than-impressive comebacks, and it is glorious.
Favorite Songs:
3. “Love Game”
2. “The Monster”
1. “So Far…”
25. McCartney II - Paul McCartney
Tumblr media
This is what happens when you let a beloved rock star get really weird. It’s so experimental and quirky; only a Beatle could get this bizarre.
Favorite Songs:
3. “Frozen Jap”
2. “Coming Up”
1. “Temporary Secretary”
24. Painkiller - Judas Priest
Tumblr media
One of those rare times where the songs on a metal album are actually, genuinely as fucking awesome as the album cover art.
Favorite Songs:
3. “Night Crawler”
2. “Painkiller”
1. “A Touch of Evil”
23. Songs for the Deaf - Queens of the Stone Age
Tumblr media
With the assistance of Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age really put their best foot forward for their breakout album. As hard as most of the tracks go, my absolute favorite is the eerier, slower hidden track about cannibalism.
Favorite Songs:
3. “You Think I Ain’t Worth a Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire”
2. “First It Giveth”
1. “Mosquito Song”
22. Crash Twinsanity - Spiralmouth
Tumblr media
The day I found out this entire soundtrack was a capella, my mind was blown. You mean to tell me this whole album is just mouth noises? It really does have the Crash vibe down.
Favorite Songs:
3. “Worm Chase”
2. “Rusty Walrus Chase”
1. “The Evil Twins”
21. Awesome Mix Vol. 2 - Various Artists
Tumblr media
Every Guardians movie soundtrack is great, but out of the three it’s the second movie’s soundtrack that reigns supreme. It kicks off with ELO, scores the climactic final battle with Fleetwood Mac, and features a groovy disco remix of the Guardians theme music with vocals provided by David Hasselhoff over the credits. It’s all killer, no filler.
Favorite Songs:
3. “Guardians Inferno”
2. “Mr. Blue Sky”
1. “The Chain”
20. Mouth Dreams - Neil Cicierega
Tumblr media
The way the songs flow into each other, the subtle jokes scattered throughout… Really, the only thing holding this back is some songs are just a bit too weak to justify bumping it above its predecessor.
Favorite Songs:
3. “Closerflies”
2. “Ribs”
1. “Fredhammer”
19. Mouth Moods - Neil Cicierega
Tumblr media
From fantastic mashups that combine a dozen songs into one coherent whole to remixes that alter a single song and completely warp the premise to the point of absurdity, this is absolutely the highest point of the Mouth series.
Favorite Songs:
3. “Annoyed Grunt”
2. “Shit”
1. “Wow Wow”
18. Ten - Pearl Jam
Tumblr media
Homelessness. Suicide. Incest. Murder. This might be one of the single darkest albums of the grunge era, and it firmly cemented Pearl Jam as a force to be reckoned with. Eddie Vedder’s unique vocals really are what makes these songs stand out from the crowd.
Favorite Songs:
3. “Alive”
2. “Jeremy”
1. “Even Flow”
17. The Symbol Remains - Blue Öyster Cult
Tumblr media
You wouldn’t think a 70s rock band that loves singing about weird occult stuff could drop anything good five decades into their career, but BOC ain’t any old rock band. Only they could take a silly, memetic concept like the stereotypical “Florida Man” and turn it into a song that has enough weird and mystic vibes that it can easily sit alongside songs about aliens, eldritch horrors, vampires, and zombie Joan Crawford in their discography.
Favorite Songs:
3. “Tainted Blood”
2. “Florida Man”
1. “Box in My Head”
16. Impera - Ghost
Tumblr media
One of Ghost's most solid albums to date. It has a few low points ("Twenties") but the highs are so high they easily eclipse those few lesser tracks.
Favorite Songs:
3. “Spillways”
2. “Hunter’s Moon”
1. “Call Me Little Sunshine”
15. The Presidents of the United States of America – The Presidents of the United States of America
Tumblr media
I have very fond memories of listening to this in the car growing up. It’s such a charming piece of 90s rock, with the band foretelling their ultimate fate with the track “We Are Not Going To Make It.” Oh well, they manage to make it onto this list at least.
Favorite Songs:
3. “Kitty”
2. “Lump”
1. “Peaches”
14. Born This Way – Lady Gaga
Tumblr media
Lady Gaga has fallen from the lofty heights she once stood upon, not quite being as massive as her heyday... But with an album that gets you this high, there's really nowhere to go but down. This album has a song for everyone, and for someone with taste as weird as my own, it had a load of great tracks.
Favorite Songs:
3. “Bad Kids”
2. “Bloody Mary”
1. “Judas”
13. In Utero - Nirvana
Tumblr media
You can definitely tell that Nevermind was a more polished, commercial album when you listen to this one. The songs here are so much more raw than on their more famous album, with so much more bite to them. It can be a bit off-putting for sure, but this is definitely the short-lived band's best work (if not my favorite).
Favorite Songs:
3. “Dumb”
2. “Rape Me”
1. “Pennyroyal Tea”
12. Undertale Soundtrack – Toby Fox
Tumblr media
Easily my favorite instrumental soundtrack of all time—and considering all the fantastic game soundtracks I’ve heard in my time, this is saying something. Every single track is a fantastic and fitting tune for wherever they’re used in-game, and even if my favorite track is the obvious pick, even I’ll admit that it’s not the best one (that would probably be #2).
Favorite Songs:
3. “Death By Glamour”
2. “Battle Against a True Hero”
1. “Megalovania”
11. Metal Gear Rising Soundtrack – Various artists
Tumblr media
A game as insane and metal as Rising needs a soundtrack to match, and to say this one delivered is an understatement. Every song is one of the most badass things you will ever hear, with a good chunk of them elaborating on the motivations and personalities of the bosses. It says a lot that the weakest song is Blade Wolf's, and even that's just "okay" as opposed to "awful."
Favorite Songs:
3. “Red Sun”
2. “A Stranger I Remain”
1. “It Has to be This Way”
10. Seven Inches of Satanic Panic - Ghost
Tumblr media
I don’t think this is better than their full albums, but I definitely think this is one of the best musical one-two punches I’ve ever heard. “Mary on a Cross” and “Kiss the Go-Goat” are two of Ghost’s finest songs, and this is where they came from
9. I Get Wet – Andrew W.K.
Tumblr media
In the proud tradition of AC/DC, pretty much every song on this album sounds the same—and none of the songs rock any less for it. It’s a collection of awesomely stupid anthems about partying, hot girls, and NYC that goes harder than it has any need to.
Favorite Songs:
3. “Ready to Die”
2. “She is Beautiful”
1. “I Get Wet”
8. Running With Scissors – Weird Al
Tumblr media
This was a big turning point in Al’s career—it’s when he debuted his new look, sans glasses and with his hair grown out—and for me at least it’s the album where I feel like he put all the lessons he learned over the 90s to good use. It’s true that there’s a few lines that haven’t aged well but the overall package is strong enough that it overshadows the blemishes. It has his strongest “movie recap” parody song, his best polka medley, and his funniest and most iconic epic-length song; how can it not make my top ten?
Favorite Songs:
3. “The Saga Begins”
2. “Polka Power!”
1. “Albuquerque”
7. Doolittle - Pixies
Tumblr media
It’s genuinely tough picking between this and Surfer Rosa, but when it comes right down to it Doolittle is the one that has more tracks I like. I don’t think anything here is quite as good as “Where is My Mind?” from the latter album, but that album doesn’t have “Mr. Grieves” on it.
Favorite Songs:
3. “Here Comes Your Man”
2. “Wave of Mutilation”
1. “Monkey Gone to Heaven”
6. Invisible Touch - Genesis
Tumblr media
I think Invisible Touch is Genesis’s undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Take the lyrics to “Land of Confusion.” In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. “In Too Deep” is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I’ve heard in rock.
Favorite Songs:
3. “Domino”
2. “Land of Confusion”
1. “Invisible Touch”
5. Mandatory Fun – Weird Al
Tumblr media
As of 2023 this is Al’s last album, and if he never makes another it’s hard to argue that he didn’t go out on top. The style parodies are some of his best ever, the polka medley is fantastic, and the parodies here are all leagues better than the songs they’re spoofing. “Foil” in particular is worth singling g out for being a hilarious subversion of the stereotypical food-related parodies Al was known for back in the day.
Favorite Songs:
3. “Foil”
2. “Handy”
1. “Jackson Park Express”
4. ABBA Gold - ABBA
Tumblr media
Is it cheating to put a greatest hits compilation on this list? Well, since it's my list, the answer is no! An album like this is all bangers, no filler, every song I love in one place one after the other. The omission of “Tiger” is the only flaw.
3. Nevermind - Nirvana
Tumblr media
It's pretty inarguable that this is a more polished and commercial grunge album than In Utero, but no matter what Kurt or the other band members say this is still one of the best albums ever made. My only gripe with it is that the song that gets the most attention, "Smells Like Teen Spirit," overshadows a lot of songs better than it. "In Bloom" is the best track in my opinion, with its lyrics abut fans with zero media literacy still very relevant even to this day.
Favorite Songs:
3. “Polly”
2. “Come as You Are”
1. “In Bloom”
2. The Number of the Beast – Iron Maiden
Tumblr media
From the band with the greatest album covers of all time comes a metal album featuring the hard rock version of "Roxanne," an epic seven minute track, and the greatest song condemning the actions of colonizers. Oh, and the title track is pretty awesome too. Considering how lukewarm the first two albums are, this might be one of the greatest glow ups in metal history, going from a decent but not spectacular act to one of the greatest bands of all time.
Favorite Songs:
3. “22 Acacia Avenue”
2. “Hallowed be Thy Name”
1. “Run to the Hills”
1. Spirit Phone – Lemon Demon
Tumblr media
Maybe I'm just a basic bitch for calling this my favorite album ever, but the fact of the matter is that this whole album is basically tailor made for my interests. Songs about conspiracy theories? Songs about urban legends like Gef and Polybius? Songs that make fun of Reaganomics? I genuinely could not imagine a better set of songs than this if I tried.
Favorite Songs:
5. “Reaganomics”
4. “Touch-Tone Telephone”
3. “When He Died”
2. “Sweet Bod”
1. “Cabinet Man”

hello, can you recommend erik centric comics to check?
Of course!
The first two I'm gonna recommend are very centered on his backstory, as in his childhood and upbringing, and are therefore also very dark, just a TW incase that's not for you.
The first one I'll recommend is the Magneto Testament from 2008, its a really good in-depth walkthrough of his childhood, and the people who made it really cared a lot about gathering as many details about his background as they could from different comics, and creating this fullend backstory of his childhood. A big TW though, is that this comic contains a lot of violence and graphic stuff, and i would NOT recommend this to anyone sensitive. I personally found it very moving. But seriously heed the TW.
Tumblr media
The next one I'm gonna recommend is Magneto (1993). This comic much like the last one, focuses on his backstory, but this time more of his life after the camps. i find this one to be a bit controversial, because some of the things in it aren't really accurate with his true backstory, but most of it is, and the second problem i have with it is the end, where it tries to paint him slightly like not a bad guy. But its still a good read if you aren't too much aware of his backstory and want to know more. And again i have to say TW for this one as well, it contains very graphic deaths etc.
Tumblr media
The next one I'm gonna recommend is S.W.O.R.D Vol.1.. it's just one part of a bigger series, but this one specifically involves Magneto a lot, and I find it very hilarious. It's modern era X-Men and it's a very good and lighthearted read, with awesome art and characters in general. And who knows, maybe it’ll get you hooked on the whole series, which I can very much also recommend.
Tumblr media
Fell free to ask for more or different recommendations!

Finally caved and saw Dune 2021:
-Lightskin Chani narrates the opening instead of Irulan. I’ve always loved “The beginning is the time for taking the most delicate care…”, the opening from the book. David Lynch kept it in his movie, and the monologue even shows up in the official movie soundtrack for ‘84 by Toto. The fact that it’s not here doesn’t bode well.
-I always thought Dune was a very Asiatic work of sci-fi. Caladan is Space-Indonesia with its islands and rice paddies. The Fremen are descendants of Muslims, and they practice a weird, syncretic version of Islam with bits of Buddhism in it. I don’t like how Timotheeeee’s house has a bonsai tree framed by Chinese Circle Doors and only Yueh is the lone Asian there as a healer. I feel like I’m with Donna Chang from Seinfeld.
-Ferguson was a good choice for Lady Jessica.
-Zendaya can’t play dangerous. What’d you expect from a Disney whelp?
-Caladan is so cold and gray, not like in the books. Thanks, I hate it!
-Oscar Isaac is light, but he’d have to have fucked a ghost if I’m to believe he could play Timotheee’s dad.
-Mohiam is pretty spot on.
-I hate this version of Caladan. It’s so cold, so unhospitable, even compared to Arrakis. The entire point of Caladan is that it’s a lush Eden.
-According to X-Ray, Atreides martial arts is based on Filipino fighting styles. Oh, like Thanos and Fauntleroy could ever.
-There are no upside down cows on Giedi Prime. Man-Spider? What are you talking about? There WASN’T a man-spider in this movie.
-Considering how…. light this movie is, I expected Denis to whitewash Dr. Yueh. Also, Yueh uses Mandarin to speak to Paul on the sly while he’s administering his Suk healer powers. It feels orientalist.
-The landers that descend from the Heighliner onto Arrakis remind me of the eggs from Arrival.
-Jessica and her attendants at the spaceport are gorgeous, although one can’t help but think of Padme and her girl gang in Episode 1.
-Thufir is black (SMH is really fair, even compared to Zendaya) and he calls Paul “Young Master” when he lands on Arrakis. The optics aren’t lost on me.
-The thopters are really sexy.
-Right after, there’s a scene of townspeople praying. If they weren’t wearing 3 burqas one on top of the other, it would look like home to me.
-Denis… he has a certain visual style. He loves bare concrete, pitted, monolithic surfaces. It feels like he’s using Voice on my eyes. Something about the lines, the starkness… You have to meet his style halfway.
-Jason Momoa shaves halfway. Like I said about unsettlingly bare surfaces.
-Zendaya, being Disney, can’t act. She is mostly here to tempt Paul in his visions. I mean, just like in the first third of the book, but… why not get someone who… let’s just say, doesn’t burn that easy out there to play Fremen.
-My image of the Sardaukar was always the Purge Troopers from Fallen Order. Here, they reminded me of Ronan the Accuser from Guardians Vol. 1, but dialed up to 90.
-The invasion… is slightly less awesome, because you don’t see Patrick Stewart as Gurney, running into battle cradling a pug.
-I want that bagpipe riff to play at my funeral.
-Ok, so to have Yueh, the lone Asian man, act not just a healer with strange powers, muttering in Mandarin, but also have him betray the good Atreides, was that Herbert being low key… you know?
-Also, I just realized they got rid of two important scenes: Jessica finding the Secret Garden, and the dinner where Leto’s guests, the rich townsfolk of Arrakeen, spill water everywhere to express their station. The palm tree thing drives the point of both home? A garden is visually too much for a Denis movie, though.
-They had to prop Leto in the altogether like that. Easier on the eyes than the Baron but like… really?
-The one scene that made me cry in the book, “His only regret was that he never made you his Duchess”, wasn’t here. Like Jessica cries in the tent, but… I just didn’t feel it.
-Kynes looking out at Arrakeen, similar energy to Leia’s death stare on Crait. The music in that scene, similar melody to the main theme from the 1984 movie.
-Kynes doesn’t get her trippy death involving visions of the previous Kynes. I liked it because it highlighted the strangeness of the desert, and stressed the environment-y themes.
-Timotheeee has to whitesplain how Fremen live to his mom after their thopter crashes. It felt… redundant. Jessica’s a Lady of a House and a Bene Gesserit. Shouldn’t she have done her Arrakis homework too?
-No one in the main cast has any experience speaking Arabic and it shows. I’m not watching the second movie if Timotheeee and Zendaya butcher the phrase “Lisan Al-Gaib” again.
-Nothing is more arrogant than ending your movie with the line “this is just the beginning”.
Arrival is one of my favorite movies ever. Blade Runner 2049 existed only to strip all ambiguity from the original. Dune errs… towards the latter. There’s a lot of care in every frame! And Hans Zimmer and those bagpipes! But the young leads are just so, so miscast. And I still stand by my original statement. Who are THEY to tell me that the apex of humanity is the whitest person alive? I know Duncan becomes the Chosen One in the later books, but that’s not the implication the movie and its marketing circus, both infinitely more visible than the sequel books, are giving me
6.5/10.

November Reading Wrap Up
This month I finished more books than ever before; granted, several were started earlier, so page-wise the difference is smaller, but still there. I think this is mostly because I didn't spend a lot of time gaming.
Shit I just noticed one of the books in the graphic isn't aligned but I'm not going back to change that.
Stats
total books read: 17
2023 reading challenge progress: 96 out of 100 (somewhat ahead)
formats: 3 digital, 4 audio, 9 physical
Books
I finished several 5 star reads this month. My absolute favourite was, no surprise, @re-dracula (yes I'm counting it as a book. in the end I did read Dracula after all).
• Re: Dracula by BloodyFM, Bram Stoker (audio, podcast)
rating: 5 out of 5 stars
This chronological audio adaptation of Dracula is the best Dracula adaptation out there with an incredible cast, fantastic sound design and awesome bonus songs. I cannot recommend it enough. Together with the Dracula Daily tumblr community it re-enlightened my special interest in vampires and Dracula to the point that I'm still thinking about it every day.
• Juniper & Thorn by Ava Reid (audio)
rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Dark fairy tale meets gothic horror in this retelling of The Juniper Tree. Absolutely loved it!
• Stemmen uit de bodemloze diepte by Anne Resseler (audio)
rating: 5 out of 5 stars
A Dutch YA horror novella that makes you feel the primal fear of the depths of the ocean in an atmospheric, even comforting way.
• The Seep by Chana Porter (digital)
rating: 5 out of 5 stars
This sci-fi novella with a unique take on alien invasion is wonderfully strange and existential. The short story included in this edition is also great.
• Chameleon Moon by RoAnna Sylver (audio, ARC)
rating: 5 out of 5 stars
I had read and loved Chameleon Moon once before, but the audio version made me love it even more! It's intense, emotional, and has amazing effects for ghostly and computerised voices as well as two original songs.
• Activestills: Photography as Protest in Palestine/Israel (physical)
rating: 5 out of 5 stars
A big book full of photos from Palestinian and Israeli activist photography collective Activestills, accompanied by essays and interviews. I greatly admire Activestills' work.
• Stories from Palestine: Narratives of Resilience by Marda Dunsky (digital)
rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Interviews with people of varying occupations from all around Palestine, combined with data and historical and political context, paint a picture of every day life in Jerusalem, Gaza and the West Bank.
• A Map of Absence: An Anthology of Palestinian Writing on the Nakba (digital)
rating: 4 out of 5 stars
A great introduction to Palestinian writing, containing poetry, short fiction and excerpts from novels and essays.
• The Queer Girl Is Going to Be Okay by Dale Walls (audio, ARC)
rating: 4 out of 5 stars
A great YA contemporary following three queer high school friends, examining the nature of queer love.
• The Chalice of the Gods by Rick Riordan (physical)
rating: 4 out of 5 stars
A fun book in the Percy Jackson saga, with lower stakes than usual which makes it a lighthearted adventure that still packs the occasional punch.
• Daughter of the Deep by Rick Riordan (physical)
rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Highly enjoyable modern take on Jules Verne feat. deep sea adventures, alt-tech, and an exploration of the weight of legacy.
• Spy x Family Vol. 1-6 by Tatsuya Endo (physical, borrowed)
rating: 4 out of 5
Action comedy that's just a lot of fun and unexpectedly touching.
Currently reading and TBR
I've just started, or am about to start (I've only read the introduction) Freedom Is a Constant Struggle by Angela Davis. I'm also reading the poetry collection Things You May Find Hidden in My Ear by Mosab Abu Toha, which is currently available for free among many other books for Read Palestine Week (link below).
I have a few more indie books on my TBR for Monster Manor Indie Autumn (extended through December), and A Thousand Steps into Night is my last 12 books for 12 friends read this year. (Send me a message/ask or fill in the question box on my instagram story if you have a rec for next year!)

Hypnospace Outlaw Spinoffs
I've heard about Zane's Boomer Shooter spin-off Slayers X a while ago on Twitter and seeing as it is finally gonna get a spin-off makes me wonder what other type of games you could make with the rest of the cast. The Hypnospace Outlaw universe and characters are so good you could think up of just about a million game ideas with them. Heck, I can imagine a Squisherz monster raising sim with Rebekah where you have to care for the creatures while protecting them from Fundamentalist Christians that want to kill them all, or licesensed games of Gumshoe Gooper and The Chowder man.

Earth-S headcanons
Wonder if Modern-Day! Mr. Scarlet and Pinky would have to become temp workers in order to earn money after Brian loses his job as an attorney. (I wanna see him spin a sign or wear a chicken mascot suit. XD)

I'd love to see more comic book fans create awesomely crazy headcanons and AUs with Public Domain Superheroes. Heck, I love doing this with Fawcett Comics heroes and love it when people share their own ideas. :)

Just finished Kid Eternity #11 and was amazed to find out Mr. Keeper has an evil twin brother who was sent to Stygia as punishment. Now I wish that there was an origin story for Mr. Keeper because I would really love to know how he became a ghostly gatekeeper guiding souls to eternity and what his life may have been like before it.

My #1 post of 2022
A Somewhat darker and edgier Fawcett Comics AU.
Skimmed through New Champion of Shazam #3 and they mentioned the missing people on the posters were homeless people who were trying to survive. Which made me think about a second Fawcett Comics AU where Billy stumbles upon a homeless camp where versions of the Fawcett heroes living there are trying to help everyone try to get a stable job and housing and they're nicknamed "The Squadron of Justice" for their street-level activism. (Not to mention Brian Butler did get fired from his job and had to literally travel across America searching for jobs alongside Pinky in Wow Comics.)

Stephen Reads Valiant: Part 5
So here we are, more fun to be had! Let’s get into it!
Tumblr media
Bloodshot and H.A.R.D. Corps Vol 4: more Bloodshot! I’d be lying if i said i wasnt more happy to be stretching my legs in some other series this go-round, but Bloodshot continues to kick ass. His journey continues, gripping with fallout from Harbinger Wars and finding himself back working for Project Rising Spirit (which deserves a yikes even with the new management). But that’s only the half of it, the rest of the book is devoted to the eponymous H.A.R.D. Corps which i mentioned last post. They’re a lot like the Suicide Squad except that they privately owned and cut out the middle-man of recruiting criminals by simply dangling money over vulnerable and desperate peoples’ heads. Leader Charlie Palmer’s attempts to turn the team into something good for the sake of the innocent new recruits lines up well with Bloodshot’s own personal journey, no doubt why they decided to make a book out’ve both of them. All in all a solid new direction for the comic, i both look forward to seeing where it goes and am happy to set Bloodshot aside for the moment to read other things. Speaking of which!
Tumblr media
Eternal Warrior Vol 1: I’ve been looking forward to reading this one (even before i learned it was written by Grek Pak) mostly because Gilad Anni-Padda is a pretty important character who’s been popping in and out around the Valiant Universe. He’s Armstrong’s little brother, he was Aric of Dacia’s friend in Visigoth times, cool immortal guy stuff. And i LOVE immortal characters/plots in general, but even with that in mind Gilad is incredibly cool. A badass master of all forms of combat with an undying thirst for battle tempered by a heroes heart and respect for the sanctity of human life? Fucking ACES man! X-O Manowar remains my favorite comic of the bunch, but Gilad is a contender for my favorite character. That said Eternal Warrior is pretty damn good, building off some of the lore introduced in other books like the various houses and the geomancers while also telling a great personal story about Gilad getting back into the swing of things after decades in seclusion. An awesome time and i look forward to more!
Tumblr media
Archer & Armstrong Vol 2: Finally back with these bozos again! The end of last arc led to the inadvertent death of a geomancer, putting Archer and Armstrong in the crosshairs of….the Eternal Warrior!!! This reading order i looked up is by no means essential but it comes in handy sometimes. I’m assuming Gilad’s series takes place a good deal prior to this adventure because A) he is fully back in his brutal defender of the Earth mode and B) im fairly certain the geomancer who died is his friend Buck. But enough about that, the important thing is they need to find the next geomancer so that Gilad doesn’t super murder Archer, all while combating and evading a cult dedicated to reducing the world to pure nothingness. Among all of these things, the big win for me personally is the new geomancer character Kay McHenry who is a real joy in spite of her origins. Another great volume, it’s great to be back with these fools!
Overall: This section is becoming redundant but what the heck: i loved these comics. Real solid stuff. But i’m even more excited for next time, because i’ve got not only more Archer & Armstrong but the first two volumes of Quantum & Woody too!!!

Hi bestie!!! Can I get a Paris x Helen thing were Paris is a merman who is kidnapped by Menelaus as a very misguided attempt to get Troy under control??? I’ll make an aesthetic or stimboard for you!!!
OMG HI!!!
Of fucking course i am taking your request!! I feel gratefull to be able to fullfill your troy fanfict needs, just letting you know that it may take me a while because i am a bit delayed in troy requests. i have two requested wips that I haven't finish yet and i feel super guilty about not having posted those yet.
i trully love the ideas and i am super into what i have been writing, but i got delayed since the stranger things 4 vol 1 release accaparated my daydreaming plots time. I have been a Steve fangirl for years, but my Eddie brainrot is consuming me. Now i love them both, I fell hard and fast for this new character so i came up with a concept that wouldn't leave my mind or allow me to focus in writing anything else before i decided to put it in words.
It has been crazy, but in a nice way. Never before i got distracted like this out of working on my wips by such an excruciating need of starting another one lol. I wrote a headcanon set while trying to brainstorm the ideas out and calm the fuck down, but turns out that what i did was starting a short headcanon series as my mind keeps digging deep into the concept.
I will of course add your troy request to the list, but first i have to finish my other very delayed requests and i am slowly working my way towards that.
( I am a mess and i m so sorry. All my very patient requesters are awesome and i want to let you know that I live on fears of dissapointing you. )
