I think Wei Wuxian would have made a lullaby just for A'Yuan when they were still in the burial mounds.
Whenever A'Yuan's nightmares kept him up late or when he was too silent and too engrossed in the fear that he had when he was with the Jins.
Maybe one time, when Lan Sizhui is finding it hard to sleep, Wei Wuxian plays for him once more and Lan Sizhui feels comfortable and protected in the embrace of the music.

@chemically-cathartic
The Lan dragon Lan WangJi finally found a cave, his leg was painfully open with a deep sword wound made by the Wen Clan, who dared to attack the younger of the Lan Clan of Dragons.
Unfortunally, by the strong scent of foxes on the cave, he presumed this one have a owner, fortunaly seemed he wasn't too far. Didn't take too steps to heard a little laugh of a young child and other, equally bright and cute, from a young male fox.
Both were building what was like a bit deformed snowman. If wasn't for the urgency, Lan WangJi would stare at them for a long time.
The little fox was the first to jump when seeing him, the older male one put himself in front of him and his pretty smile faded.
Lan WangJi couldn't blame then for it, "Excuse-me, i didn't wanted to scare anyone."
The older fox probably smelled the blood, because his face contorted in a worried expression. He started to walk at the dragon's direction when Lan WangJi passed away against the snow.
/
Wei WuXian grabbed the large dragon and put him on his own nest. A'Yuan watched the dragon with curiosity.
"Xian-gege, he will eat us?"
"I don't think so, little radish, he probably just need help.", Wei WuXian finished with the improvised bandages and herbs he stole from a village nearby.
"He's a pretty gege!"
Wei WuXian laughed, but looking even more close to this dragon, he really was a the prettiest pearson he have never seem.
He hopes this dragon will be gratefull when he wakes up.

i kinda want to write an au where a'yuan remembers everything and so he keeps his mouth shut in an echo of fanon baby!lwj's selective mutism when he gets to the cloud recesses. but lwj knows that kind of silence, he sees the way a'yuan flinches away from other cultivators in battle robes, the way his little eyes follow the red strips of lwj's bandages whenever they come loose in the breeze...
and so it is a very different kind of childhood for a'yuan and a very different kind of fatherhood for lwj. one where they both have a secret to hide, but also have someone to share memories with.

An Imperfectly Remembered Life, Ch. 2
Fandom: 陈情令 | The Untamed (TV)魔道祖师 / 墨香铜臭 | Módào Zǔshī - Mòxiāng Tóngxiù
Ship: Lan Zhan / Wei Ying (as Mo Xuanyu at first)
Tags: Modern AU, Plenty of OOC Moments, Memory Loss, Grief, (Mentions of) Alcoholism, Some Physical Violence (eventually), The Lies We Tell Ourselves, Hidden Identity, Found Family, Fake Marriage, Story Told Partially Through Flashback
Summary: Mo Xuanyu didn't know when he took the internship at one of the largest companies in the city that he'd be running into a face he'd thought (hoped) he'd never see again. Filled with regret and guilt over the accident, and a dark secret about his life before the Jiang family took him in, Wei Wuxian can only hope that Lan Wangji doesn't recognize him and that he can survive the internship unscathed.
This Mo Xuanyu sparks traces of memory in Lan Wangji the day he shows up to start his internship. He can't place the too-familiar face and it bothers him, though he tries to deny the familiarity. But the more it eats at him, the harder it is to ignore the dark haired man with the easy smile that keeps reminding him of something... something important... something that's been missing...
Title from this quote: “An imperfectly remembered life is a useless treachery. Every day, more fragments of the past roll around heavily in the chambers of an empty brain, shedding bits of color, a sentence or a fragrance, something that changes and then disappears. It drops like a stone to the bottom of the cave.” ― Barbara Kingsolver, The Lacuna
Chapter 2 below the cut.
2... The days passed slowly. Mo Xuanyu kept his head down, did his work, and did his utmost not to draw the attention of those around him. He spent his days comparing physical files to digital ones. Leave it to him to show up right as the company was trying to move from the paper age to the computer one, but at least it kept him busy. The more he stayed in one place, the less likely he was to run into people he didn't want to face. In his third week, he started to relax and took a few more chances to get up and visit the break room. They usually had good coffee and pastries in there, he'd found. It was a Thursday and Mo Xuanyu was feeling particularly tired, but with a crying toddler at home, it was expected. He was stirring some sugar and creamer into his cup, yawning as he turned to go back to his desk when he was stopped short by a figure in the doorway. Nearly dropping his cup, Mo Xuanyu took a step back and nodded politely, greeting his manager softly. His eyes darted around for an exit, but Lan Wangji was standing squarely in the door frame, his sharp eyes boring into him. "Good afternoon, sir," he said, licking his lips nervously. "Coffee's fresh if that's what you're here for."
Lan Wangji didn't move, simply continuing to star at him as he fought to keep from fidgeting.
"Sir...?"
"You're Mo, correct? Mo Xuanyu?" Lan Wangji's voice seemed deeper than it had seven years before and Mo Xuanyu swallowed hard.
"Yes, I am. Is there something I can...?"
"You're rather diligent in your work."
"I do what I'm told, Mr. Lan. That's all."
Lan Wangji studied him for a few more moments before stepping fully into the breakroom. Mo Xuanyu suddenly realized no one else was in the room with them and he gripped his coffee cup harder in his hands.
"You'll be joining the other interns for the welcome dinner tomorrow night, correct?"
Lan Wangji was still moving into the room and Mo Xuanyu was running out of space to retreat. When the other finally stopped, he realized that Lan Wangji must have hit another growth spurt in high school because there were at least two more inches of height between them. The next thing he noticed was the way Lan Wangji's button down shirt lay across his shoulders and chest, his lack of suit jacket making his fit stature more than obvious. It made Mo Xuanyu a little self-conscious in his own clothes. He took care of himself, but not to the same extent, apparently.
"I, uh... I haven't decided yet, sir." He cleared his throat, trying to get his vocal cords to calm down. "I'd have to check with... well, I haven't decided. I might, though."
"You should." Stepping around him, Lan Wangji picked up and cup and selected a teabag from a box. "We managers go to great lengths for this dinner."
"Yes, sir. I understand." Mo Xuanyu smiled brightly, nodding his head a few times. "Like I said, I might. It will depend. If you'll excuse me, I'll get back to work."
He made his way across the room, trying not to look like he was running away. He was almost to the door when Lan Wangji's voice stopped him again, halting his steps immediately. Mo Xuanyu turned enough to look over his shoulder at his manager.
"Mo Xuanyu." Lan Wangji still had his own back turned toward him, his neat braid hanging neatly against the middle of his shirt. "I expect to see you there. Despite whatever excuses you might make."
Mo Xuanyu made some sort of noise in response, remembering well how that tone always had him doing whatever Lan Wangji told him to do in high school. Though mostly he used it to force him to study properly for exams. Clearing his throat, he gave a light affirmative and continued his escape back to his desk.
When he arrived home that night, Mo Xuanyu sat in his car for a few minutes. He was tired, but he knew relaxing was not in the cards for him. Letting out a breath, he got out and headed into the little house, a bright smile already on his face.
"Uncle 'Anu!"
Mo Xuanyu barely had time to drop his bag on the floor before his arms were filled with squirming three year old boy. Sticky kisses were planted on his cheeks and he laughed, feeling much of his days stress melting as he carried the child into the living room.
"A'Yuan, what is all over your cheeks?" he asked, shifting him to one arm so he could poke at the mess on the boy’s face.
"He just finished a popsicle." Wen Ning stepped out of the kitchen, a wet cloth in his hand. "I was trying to clean him up when he heard you coming in. Sorry."
Mo Xuanyu smiled, shaking his head as he held A'Yuan still so Wen Ning could wipe his hands and face. A'Yuan fussed and wiggled, but in the end the two of them were able to get most of the mess off of him.
"Popsicle before dinner?" Mo Xuanyu eyed Wen Ning with a teasing smile. "I'm guessing your sister isn't home yet?"
Wen Ning's cheeks colored and he fidgeted, his hands gesturing helplessly.
"He's been a good boy today," he said, his voice stuttering a little. "Took his nap like a champ and ate all of his lunch. I didn't think it would hurt. Please, don't tell my sister."
Mo Xuanyu laughed, reaching out his free hand to grip Wen Ning's shoulder, giving him a soft shake.
"It's alright. I won't. It will be just between us, as long as A'Yuan doesn't tell." He gave another shake to get a little smile out of his brother-in-law.
"Let me get changed and I'll watch him while you get dinner started. Alright?"
Wen Ning nodded and took A'Yuan, hushing his fussing as Mo Xuanyu went back to the front hall to collect his bag and went upstairs to his bedroom to change out of his suit. There was a large sticky handprint on the shoulder now, so he put it aside to go to the cleaners.
Settling onto the edge of his bed, he tugged the elastic band from his hair, letting it fall around his neck and shoulders. Sighing, he ran a hand through it, giving it a shake before bringing his hand to his lap. Lan Wangji's voice had stirred so many memories, so many moments in time that he had forced himself to not think about in the last years. Memories he didn't deserve.
***
Wei Wuxian was the last person to step into the classroom, the fingers of his right hand twirling a pen deftly between long fingers. Dark eyes skimmed the room, ignoring the curious looks he was being given. He was no stranger to being the new kid in class, spending much of his childhood moving from place to place with his parents. He'd long since gotten used to it.
His eyes lit up as he found an open seat near the back and he headed for it. Dropping into the hard plastic chair, he set his books down and looked to his left and right. On one side, a girl was immersed in her phone, ignoring the world. To the other, a guy with long black hair sat ramrod straight, already reading the chapter of their textbook. Wei Wuxian snorted and shifted, turning toward him and forgetting the girl.
"Hey. I'm Wei Wuxian." He held his hand out across the aisle. "It's my first day. What do they call you?"
There was a brief moment where the other guy didn't move, his eyes continuing to skim the lines printed on the page. Wei Wuxian's smile began to fade and he was just about to withdraw his hand when he moved. Closing the book, the long haired boy turned enough to reach out and grasp Wei Wuxian's hand, the grip surprisingly firm as their eyes met.
"Lan Wangji."
Wei Wuxian was caught off guard by the voice, more-so than he was by the strength of the handshake. His smile brightened and he gave a squeeze before releasing the hand in his own.
"Lan Wangji. Nice to meet you. Do you always just read the textbook?"
Lan Wangji's eyebrow twitched minutely and he turned back to the book.
"I like to be prepared."
“On the first day? Wait, don’t tell me you read them during the breaks. Do you?”
There was a twitch in Lan Wangji's eyebrow again and he made a sound that Wei Wuxian took as an affirmative.
"But... why?"
Lan Wangji glanced at him, a tiny frown pulling the corners of his lips down for a moment. Instead of answering, he turned his attention back to the book, carefully turning the page. Wei Wuxian laughed and sat straight in his seat again, fingers twirling the pen once more.
"Suit yourself."
He barely paid attention when the class started, following along only enough to look the part, but he spent more time doodling on his notebook paper and casting glances at Lan Wangji to his right. He was intrigued by the guy, in the way he kept up, the way he never slouched, and although he looked smart as hell and probably knew the material, he never raised his hand to answer a question. Shifting, he looked over at the notes Lan Wangji was taking and was not surprised in the slightest by the immaculate handwriting.
When the bell rang, Lan Wangji was packed and out the door quickly, leaving Wei Wuxian laughing in his wake. As he made his way into the hall to his next class, Wei Wuxian realized he really wanted to be friends with Lan Wangji.
***
Mo Xuanyu shook himself from his thoughts and began unbuttoning his shirt. He was just hanging it on the closet door when there was a knock at the door and Wen Qing let herself in. He gave her a smile and a nod, continuing his efforts to change his clothes by tugging off the white T-shirt he wore beneath the dress shirt.
"Welcome home," he said, tugging his belt free from his pants. "How was your day?"
Wen Qing sat on the bed with a shrug. She was still wearing her scrubs, but she'd unpinned part of her hair.
"Same as ever. Too many people coming to the emergency room lacking emergencies." She shrugged again, reaching to pull more pins from her head. "It was quiet, at least. Yours?"
Wei Wuxian finished changing, pulling on sweatpants and a dark T-shirt before he responded.
"I need to ask you a huge favor," he said, turning to face her. "Mo Xuanyu needs his wife tomorrow night. Do you think you can free yourself up for a few hours?"
Wen Qing smiled and raised an eyebrow, tilting her head slightly.
"What happened?"
Mo Xuanyu went to the other side of the bed and flopped down onto it, groaning as he rubbed his face.
"I've been told I have to attend the dinner tomorrow night. The one I told you about last week. Lan Wangji cornered me and basically told me I have to show up." He turned his head as Wen Qing laid back beside him, giving her his best pout. "I can bring a plus one. Will you please try to come with me?"
She looked back at him and considered it quietly.
"I know you work the night shift tomorrow and it would cut into your sleep," he went on quickly. "And you know I'll make it up to you, but I just really need you to be there. Mo Xuanyu needs his wife."
"You're really shaken by this, aren't you?" she asked softly after a few more moments of letting him squirm.
"Shaken... maybe." Mo Xuanyu sighed, turning his eyes to the ceiling. "But if he remembers... I just need a reason to not speak to him. Or anyone, really. And you're better at the social thing than I am. I tend to make an idiot of myself. I need you there to keep me from being stupid."
Wen Qing laughed, reaching over to pat his arm before sitting up. "Fine. I'll go with you for a few hours, but I have to leave by eight thirty to make my nine o'clock shift. And you owe me big." Rising from the bed, she turned to face him, hands propped on her hips. "I'll figure out your payment later. Right now, I'm going to take a shower before dinner. Go play with A'Yuan so he lets go of A'Ning's leg."
She left the room, but Mo Xuanyu stayed put on the bed for a little longer. He was beyond grateful for Wen Qing and all that she'd done for him in the last few years. She knew some of his past, but only enough to understand his current situation. But she was loyal and solid, and he really could have done worse. Far worse. It took him another minute or two before he got up and went back downstairs, greeting A'Yuan's delighted greeting with a laugh and a smile.
***
Mo Xuanyu was back on full alert in the office the following day. He kept his head moving any time he was away from his desk, trying hard not to get snuck up on again. It was stressful, but he was enjoying his work and he really didn't want to leave it. Not yet, anyway. This city was a far cry from his family and that part of his life he was trying to avoid, much less think about. He took his lunch in the breakroom, facing the door. He had a book on the table to make himself look distracted if he needed to, but he mostly picked at the container of leftovers from dinner the night before.
Just as he was giving up on eating and putting the lid back on, a familiar figure appeared in the door. Mo Xuanyu couldn't reach for the book without dropping the food container, so he froze as Lan Wangji crossed the room to make his cup of tea. God, the man had not changed the tiniest bit in almost eight years. It was almost infuriating, but he had no right or reason to be angry.
He was still sitting there staring when Lan Wangji turned and spotted him. There was that subtle twitch in his eyebrow before he approached the table and took a seat, setting his cup down quietly.
"Did you decide?" he asked, his voice as flat as ever, though his gaze was sharp.
"Huh?" Mo Xuanyu twitched and blinked. "Oh... right. I did." He busied himself packing his lunch away, refusing to look up as he did so. "I'll be there tonight. I'm bringing a guest, since we were told we could."
"Oh? Who, if I may ask?"
"Um... my w-wife." He glanced up with a smile. "She said she'd like to meet the people I work with, so she's going to join me before she goes to work tonight."
"Wife?" Lan Wangji's expression shifted subtly for a moment and he crossed his arms over his chest. "Well, it will be nice to meet her."
"I'll be sure to introduce you. Excuse me, please."
Mo Xuanyu grabbed up his things and hurried away, leaving Lan Wangji at the table with his steeping cup of tea and his thoughts.
Mo Xuanyu's file didn't mention that he was married. That portion was left blank. Probably an oversight on the man's part. For some reason, the thought that Mo Xuanyu was married irked something in his mind. He turned his head, catching a last glimpse of dark hair as the man exited the breakroom. Letting out a soft breath, Lan Wangji did his best to push the feelings away. There was no reason to feel that way, he had no idea why he was even bothered. Taking his tea, he returned to his office to prepare for his afternoon meeting.

Wei Wuxian is killed in Path Qionqi's ambush and Lan Wangji decides to marry Wen Qing and pass off A-Yuan as his son to protect the remaining Wen.
There were too many of them. And Wei Wuxian knew this was where he would meet his end. But that doesn't mean he would go without a fight. But first things first, he had to get Wen Ning back to a conscious state and send him off to Wen Qing with the Seal to protect them. Now that it had come to this, Wei Wuxian thought back briefly.
Perhaps this situation could have been avoided if he had been careful about breaking out the Wens. If he had been covert and not made a big spectacle out of this, perhaps things would have been different.
It was too late for regrets now.
He tossed the suppression talismans on Wen Ning and called out to him. Told him to use his arrays to protect the Wens long enough so that they could escape somewhere. Perhaps they could blend in with the townsfolk if they changed their clothes. The elders could, at least. Wen Qing and Wen Ning, on the other hand, would have to run far, far away, if they could.
Wei Wuxian didn't know. He had no time.
With one last command to Wen Ning, forcing him to flee, Wei Wuxian snapped the two halves of the Seal together. He planned to destroy the damned thing along with everyone here.
As he poured every last bit of energy he had into the Seal and felt himself get sucked into the ensuing explosion, his last thought was........ that now, finally, he could rest.
..................................................
The news broke out soon enough. Jin Zixuan limped back into his son's one month celebration and announced what had happened. His stupid cousin Jin Zixun had ambushed Wei Wuxian with members of both Lan and Jin and forced him to use the Seal to protect himself. No one except Jin Zixuan, who had arrived too late, was only able to witness the explosion and death of everyone there.
Jiang Yanli cried out in despair, pleading Jin Zixuan that it wasn't true, that her A' Xian, her brother couldn't be dead. Jin Zixuan didn't know how to comfort her, but merely replied that he saw his broken body among the many others littering Qiongqi Path.
When asked about the Seal, Jin Zixuan shook his head, it had completely crumbled to dust. The many greedy faces of the sect leaders looked dismayed, including Jin Guangshan.
In the corner, Lan Wangji stumbled back, whispering a heartbroken "no" and simply left the place. But no one paid attention, all they could think about was the defenseless Wens.
...................................................
No. No, no, no, no.
Lan Wangji begged any god that ever existed. This couldn't happen. This didn't happen. Wei Ying wasn't dead. It was a joke. A cruel joke that Jin Zixuan said, right? Wei Ying and Jin Zixuan never got along, so of course it would be like that.
Lan Wangji didn't lose his chance. Wei Ying was alive. He was alive. He had to be alive.
Cause if he wasn't.....
He landed at Qiongqi Path.
If he wasn't.......
He desperately searched the desolated place, ignoring the implications of the many Lan members with weapons in their hands.
If he wasn't---
He collapsed beside a broken, torn body. Chenqing was in pieces by her master's side. Lan Wangji lifted up a trembling hand to the vacant silver eyes, perhaps the only intact thing on his face.
The cry that left him was silent and desolate.
What was Lan Wangji supposed to do? How could he go on? How could he.....when it was his fault, his letter that led Wei Ying to this place. To his death.
.
.
.
Numb to everything, he lifted Wei Ying's body up, tucking him safely by his side, ignoring the blood staining his clothes. He had to get to the Burial Mounds.
........................................
Wen Ning wanted to cry. He wanted to sob, to rage, to tear them all to shreds. Wei-gongzi died. He died, alone and hurting and there was nothing Wen Ning could do about it. He couldn't even go back to get his body. Because what if A' Jie and the others were attacked while he was away? He couldn't risk that. Not when--Not when Wei-gongzi gave his life for them.
But what could they do? They could, perhaps look for a place for the elders to settle down somewhere, but he and A' Jie were too well-known. They had to leave far, far away. But where could they run to? And....how far? Would there ever be a day when they could be safe?
Wen Ning didn't know.
.
.
But he didn't have to know.
Hanguang-Jun soon arrived with Wei-gongzi's body. But....something was wrong. Hanguang-Jun’s expression....it looked.......dead, somehow. It looked wrong.
“Hanguang-Jun, thank you for bringing him back.” A’ Jie said, her voice trembling. “But, why....why are you here?”
Wen Ning suddenly remembered the various Lan disciples that had attacked them and tensed. Lan Wangji had been amicable to them in their previous encounters but who could say that his mind was changed, considering how many Lan disciples were killed.
“I....I had a plan.” He whispered, to no one in particular. “I had a plan. I could hide you in a town near Caiyi and bring A’ Yuan in as an war orphan. Then, bring Wei Ying to Gusu under the guise of healing him and bringing him back to the sword path. We could lock the Seal away and find a way for Wei Ying to live peacefully. But.....”
Wen Ning acted quickly and caught Hanguang-Jun as he seemed to collapse in on himself.
“Why.....Why did this happen? I just....I just wanted him to see his sister. He was so....so sad the last time I was here. I just wanted to see him smile. Why? Why?”
Wen Ning yelped even though he felt no pain. Lan Wangji’s spiritual energy seemed to spiral out of control at that moment.
“This is-- Damn it, he’s going into a qi deviation!” Wen Qing panicked. “A’ Ning, get my needles! I need to knock him out before it’s too late!”
“Y-Yes!” He quickly scrambled away and got her medical supplies.
Without hesitation, she transferred spiritual energy into her needles and knocked Lan Wangji out. She pulled Wei Wuxian’s body away and couldn’t help the tears that fell down her face at his condition.
She turned her attention away and used it to calm Lan Wangji’s energy down. They didn’t need another death on their hands.
.
.
.
.
..........................................
Lan Wangji woke up.
Why did he wake up? Why should he be in a world where Wei Ying is no longer there? What is even the point? He was too late. Always so late.
He shouldn’t have been so scared of rejection, of his own feelings, of Wei Ying’s response. He should have just gone for it, confessed, perhaps even courted the other until he fell for him. But he didn’t do any of that.
Like a coward, he said nothing. He didn’t convey his feelings, he never corrected Wei Ying about his supposed “hatred” towards him, he never did anything.
He couldn’t do anything right.
Why was he still here?
Why--
“Rich-gege?”
Lan Wangji got up with a start, “A’ Yuan?”
“Mm.” A’ Yuan nodded. “Rich-gege, you’re back! Xian-gege said you wouldn’t come, but he was wrong! Hehe. Are you staying for dinner this time?”
Lan Wangji’s lips trembled. He should have stayed for dinner that night. He should have stayed forever that day. If he had, would Wei Ying still be alive? Or...if he had showed his support more outwardly, had given him food, water, even crops to give him strength, would things be different?
So many what ifs come to mind and what did Lan Wangji do?
Nothing. He bought a toy - not that A’ Yuan didn’t deserve it - and a meal and thought that was enough. Thought that nothing would go wrong.
Oh, what a fool he was.
“Rich-gege, why are you crying? What it something A’ Yuan said?”
Lan Wangji shook his head and bent down to hug the boy. “It’s nothing. I...just need a hug.”
“Okay! I’m good at hugs. Xian-gege told me so!”
Lan Wangji took a shaky breath at the mention as he hugged the boy.
Because Wei Ying was no longer here.
..................................
They buried him in the spare ragged blankets they had and put whatever flowers they could around his grave. Lan Wangji wanted to take Wei Ying’s body to Gusu, but he didn’t know what his uncle or others like him would do should they discover Wei Ying’s grave. He couldn’t risk it.
They decided to settle the elders in the abandoned village near Caiyi and decided to “show proof” that Wen Ning was put down. In actuality, he would be a guard for the Wen village, though they would do their best to disguise him as a human.
Wen Qing and Wen Yuan on the other hand, were tough decisions. They could leave A’ Yuan in the village, but the elders were all on their last legs and weakened from their time in the Burial Mounds. They couldn’t really take care of A’ Yuan. And even if Wen Qing were to disguise herself and run away, it was only a matter of time before she was caught considering her well-known medical skills. The Wen elders too. Even if they were old, if they happened to be recognized, there was little Lan Wangji could do to prevent the Wens from being murdered without implicating his clan.
“You could....” Wen Qing gritted her teeth. “You could...marry me. Pass of A’ Yuan as our child.”
Lan Wangji stopped breathing for a moment. “.........What?”
“Look, I don’t like it either, but this could be the only way to grant us immunity. Besides, I remember one of A’ Yuan’s parents being from the Lan clan, at least a distant relative of one. Some of his features resemble you, so it could work.”
“I....” Lan Wangji was conflicted. He had never wanted to marry anyone but Wei Ying, but if this method helped protect the people Wei Ying gave his life for, then.... “Okay.”
..............................................
It didn’t go down well with the elders. The demanded seclusion and the discipline whip for his slight, but Lan Xichen and Lan Qiren managed to calm them down, opting to give him a couple hundred strikes with the discipline ruler, three strikes instead of the thirty originally suggested with the whip, and seclusion for a few years, at least until the storm of rumors died down.
In the end, the Wens were protected and were able to live out their last years peacefully. Wen Ning migrated away from the sects after their deaths, occasionally popping by Gusu to see A’ Yuan grow up. Wen Qing contributed to the Lan sect with her skills and the originally wary Lans, warmed up to her, though not too much. Lan Wangji recovered from his punishment quickly with Wen Qing’s help though he was still stuck in seclusion.
A’ Yuan grew up to be Lan Sizhui, a calm and gentle person who occasionally showed a mischievous side. And Lan Wangji.....well, he never quite recovered from Wei Wuxian’s death, but found companionship in Wen Qing, who shared stories about Wei Wuxian with Lan Wangji.
Everything seemed fine, until Nie Mingjue’s violent death and the resurgence of demonic cultivation.
.
.
.
In a shed near the Mo residence, a bloody array shimmered. The body in the center of it woke up, disoriented.
“Wasn’t I dead?”
________________________________
Sooooo, wasn’t sure whether you wanted more details out of the repercussions of Lan Wangji taking in the Wens, but I did my best, haha.
Hope you enjoyed it!

Thinking about A'Yuan, who was so little and scared but couldn't/wouldn't cry when Wei Wuxian took him from the camp. Thinking about that same boy later on getting lost in the streets of yiling and crying, because this time he knows this time he has someone to call for, someone who will come to get him. Thinking about how it's mentioned in text that Wei Wuxian often played and looked after him. Thinking about how much love and care and attention he must have been given to have such a transformation. Regardless of whatever else happened to the settlement, a little boy was able to find his voice and smile again. And he was able to grow into such an upstanding young man with good friends. Once again, Lan Shizui is the best testament as to why what Wei Wuxian did was the right thing.

The Dreams of Youth by sami (E, 86k, wangxian, time travel, fix-it, family, not lan sect friendly, canon typical violence & gore, childhood friends to lovers, hurt/comfort, mothers who live, some people live/not everyone dies)
For Both Of Us (And Time Is But A Paper Moon) by sami (E, 65k, wangxian, JC & WWX; JC & LWJ, LWJ & LXC, Canonical Character Death, Mentions of Rape, not explicit but definitely referenced, Time Travel, Not Everyone Dies au, Canon-Typical Violence, Fix-It, Hurt/Comfort, WWX/babie tendencies, WQ is a queen in any reality, Healing, Yunmeng Shuangjie, Canon Divergence, Asexual JC, First Time, Getting Together, BAMF JC, BAMF LWJ, WWX finds new ways to be oblivious, seriously it surprised even us) lwj & jc time travel fix-it. lwj manages to save his mom & later get her away from the lan entirely.
Though I'm Gone (Still Think Of Me) by sami (M, 7k, wangxian, JC & WWX, LWJ & Madam Lan, Crack Treated Seriously, Crossover, WWX/WWX (kinda), honestly what did you expect, Chaos Gremlin WWX, Yunmeng Shuangjie, Asexual JC, JC & WWX reconciliation) involves an lwj whose mother died like in canon meeting his au still-living mother who was saved by time travel fix-it au. may make more sense if you've read "For Both Of Us (And Time Is But A Paper Moon)", but if you really just want lwj getting to hug & cry on his mom again you don't need more context than the fic contains.
if i had the strength by agloeian (M, 16k, wangxian, Canon Divergence, Post-Sunshot Campaign, Hurt/Comfort, Getting Together, Fix-It, somewhat of a case fic, Heaven Official's Blessing inspired gods & ghosts, No Spoilers for Heaven Official's Blessing, Mild Alcohol Abuse, Mental Health Issues, WWX is not in a great place for a lot of this fic, He Gets Better Though!, this fic is all about learning to give yourself the help you give others tbh, Baby LJY, recovery fic, Accidental Baby Acquisition) wangxian meet ghost mama lan
All Exits Look The Same by Ahlai (T, 14k, LSZ & LWJ, LXC & LWJ, Madam Lan & LWJ, wangxian, Canon Divergence, Madam Lán Lives, Family Feels, Healing, Grief/Mourning) lwj banished from the lan with a'yuan instead of getting whipped and winds up meeting his mother.
pale shadows of forgotten names by Chrononautical (T, 56k, wangxian, Madam Lán Lives, Madam Lán Deserves Better, Good Sibling LXC, Badass LXC, He gets there in the end it just takes a while, Not particularly JGY friendly, Gūsū Lán Sect Rules, Canon-Typical Behavior, Unresolved Sexual Tension, the universal fear of growing up to become one of your parents, Canon Divergence, Everyone Lives AU, Except WN but he's very polite, Arranged Marriage, Forced Marriage, Imprisonment, Implied/Referenced Suicide, Implied/Referenced Rape/Non-con, not between wangxian, Drunk LWJ, to lighten the mood, Fluff and Angst, Angst with a Happy Ending, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Traumatized WWX, though he will not admit it, Taking time to heal, canon-typical communication skills)
~*~
2. itmf wangxian double penetration fics, preferably with wwx bottoming but no strong preference. 3rd person can be another lwj/wwx or other character!
~*~
3. This is an IITMF ask! I was looking through the shapeshifter tags and the comp on this site and I couldn’t find many wangxian stories where both WWX and LWZ were both dragons, and the ones I could find were very short. So that’s the quest, give me some recs where both of them are dragons. Long fics would be amazing, but any length is wanted. @omgnectarina
🔒 Dragons of Cloud Recesses Series by Vrishchika (E/M, 50k, WangXian, Dragons Dragon LWJ, Fantasy, Explicit Smut in Last Chapter, Pining, POV LWJ, Canon Divergence, Immortals, Deities, Canon-Typical Violence, Dragon WWX, Angst with a Happy Ending, Established Relationship, Mpreg, Sort Of, Tenderness, Non-Explicit Sex, Tooth-Rotting Fluff, supportive families, Not JC Friendly, Noodle Babies)
💖 Magical Marriage Ribbons series by starandrea (M, 1M, wangxian, ongoing, animal transformations, weddings) kinda?
~*~
4. ITMF: animal whisperer wei ying? And/or baby whisperer Wei Ying? Idk I just want animal or babies to love wwx and come up to him or something. Doesn't have to be main point of the fic, or it can be. Please suggest log fics.
Baby Whisperer Wei Wuxian by Preludian_Staves (T, 15k, WangXian, Canon Divergence, Accidental Baby Acquisition, Cloud Recesses Study Arc, Not Jiang Clan Friendly, Arranged Marriage (eventually for reasons), Parent-Child Relationship, Soft WWX, Pining LWJ, Good Parent WWX, WWX Is Good With Children, Single Parent WWX, Fluff and Angst, Developing Relationship) it's not long but Wei Wuxian: Baby Whisperer is good. Maybe also Wei Wuxian's Home for Lost Creatures
Wei Wuxian’s Home for Lost Creatures by Stratisphyre (G, 22k, WangXian, Fusion, Fluff, Single Dad LWJ, Near Drowning, injured animals, First Meetings, Falling In Love, Modern with Magic)
~*~
5. Happy New Year, mods!!!
For the next ITMF, can you guys recommend some complete fics::
A) wwx and xue yang being bros, close, or related to eo. B) wwx is not a cultivator or any similar to this. C) lwj being vocal? like he knows and voice out his opinion/needs/wants.
5A)
a bird in your teeth by Eevee (ChaosBitch) (E, 61k, JYL/XY, wangxian, Let XY have nice things, Let JYL get some good dick, (sorry JZX I know you did your best), Past JYL/JZX, Past JYL/MM, All of the sex in this fic is consensual, But one of the participants IS a fierce corpse, JYL POV, Minor Character Death, I feel like this fic turned out surprisingly soft, but XY still does some onscreen murders, Implied/Referenced Torture, Mention of JGS's canon behavior, Mentions of XY's canon behavior, Also Wangxian is not the main pairing, but they're definitely here and stupider in love than ever, Angst, past XY/JGY, Hopeful Ending) WWX & XY are sort of awkward brothers-in-law in this
🔒 necromancy is a valid career path! series by coslyons, Skadiseven (T, 41k, WWX & XY, WQ & XY, WN & XY, WWX & WN & WQ, LSZ & XY, LWJ & XY, Granny Wen & XY, wangxian, Modern with Magic, Seattle, Necromancy, Found Family, Food as a Metaphor for Love, Gardens & Gardening, Mathematics, Running, and other crimes against Teenagers, XY is a shitty teen, sometimes a family can be, three mildly feral twenty-somethings, and the extremely feral teenager that adopts them, Growing Up, The Mortifying Ordeal of Realizing Your Pseudo-parents are People Too, Big brother XY, A-Yuan is a little gremlin, WWX is a much larger gremlin)
It's Wife Cake, Wei Ying by stiltonbasket (G, 3k, WangXian, Modern AU, Bakery, Baker WWX, First Meetings, Soft WangXian, ft. feral teenager xy, POV LWJ, Happy Ending, Food as a Metaphor for Love, Love at First Sight)

7. Hello, could you please suggest some fics where wwx is transported (time travel/incense burner/...) in the time where lwg was mourning him and consoles him? Bonus points if lwg's still recovering from his punishment. Thank you for all the wonderful works you find!
~*~
8. First time asking, but do you have recommendation of mdzs characters watching but instead of the untamed/novel/manhua their reacting to fanfictions or alternate universe? That's all thank you.
~*~
9. Itmf fics where wwx is raised/from a different sect or clan or common family other than the 5 great ole sects? If u could find long fics please?

10. Hi! Happy New Year. I'm in the mood for a fic in which the juniors find wwx really attractive. Wangxian endgame, whether they are already together or not in the beginning doesn't matter. Also a-yuan is wwx's son, and the juniors are his friends or classmates. Whatever timeline the story was set does not matter to me. I just find it funny that a-yuan is so done with his friends simping over his dad. Thanks in advance!!! @yunshenlianhua
~*~
11. Hi! Thank you for all your work running this page! I've found so many great fics here, your compilations are awesome! For my first ever ITMF ask, I'm looking for fic where WWX and LWJ get to fall in love and get engaged and/or married during the CR study arc. I love seeing them able to get together early and tackle things together instead of being separated for so long without talking things through. Can be time travel, canon divergence, fix-it (my favorite!), anything except modern AU, and the closer to canon setting the better, because butterfly effects are so fun to read! (I've already read all of sami's Paper Moon stuff, for example) Thank you again, hope you have a great day! @queerlyloud
🧡 Stunted, Starving Juvenility by TomatenMark (E, 742k, WangXian, WIP, Fix-it of sorts, Talisman master WWX, Not JFM Friendly, Study Arc, Getting together, Fluff and Angst, Engagement) Canon Divergence AU during CRSA where WX get engaged & later married

~*~
12. ITMF: Hello! I am looking for modern aus where cultivation is studied scientifically/academically, especially if WWX or LWJ is used as a lab rat. Similar fics to “The Shade of Old Trees” by Kryal and “Truth Will Out (when caught on video)” by KizuKatana: currently loving these wips!! Thank you so much! @gloriousclotpole
Hear a song this deeply by so_shhy (T, 87k, WangXian, Modern with Magic, modern cultivation au, Kind of academia AU, Music, Kid Fic, Action/Adventure, To An Extent, Original Character(s), Slow Burn, Fluff and Angst, Happy Ending) The fic mentioned but not remembered for #12 might be Hear a song this deeply by so_shhy / for 12 I know there's a fic about LWJ and WWX working together to rediscover musical cultivation from the old Lan texts, but I can't remember the title right now
💖 One Can Keep A Secret (If He Does Not Know It’s There)by H_Belle (T, 5k, wangxian, NHS & WWX, modern w/ cultivation, inventor WWX, secret identity, identity reveal, YLLZ WWX, rogue cultivator WWX, pining LWJ, WWX pov)
but his smile never dimmed by Stratisphyre (G, 9k, LQR & WWX, modern cultivation, College/University, WWX's canonical self-worth issues, Reasonable Authority Figure LQR, depiction of panic attacks, no plot only feelings, Parenthood, JFM's A+ parenting)

14. Hi itmf
Can I please get any fic of wangxian as parents just helping their adopted kid out of a bad mental phase ? Or any mdzs character?

~*~
15. Hello! For your next ITMF, could you please add an ask for some good canon-era SongXiao fixits or HEAs? Doesn't have to be the main focus, in fact I'd be fine if it's just a small piece of a larger Wangxian story, it's just that I've been listening to the audio drama and it gave me some major Yi City blues. No Songxuexiao, please. Thank you! @ladysalieri
~*~
16. hello!! hoping to find 30k words+ fics about wgxn and their post canon shenanigans :]] preferably as close as possible to their canon selves!! thank you :D nsfw is fine no nfsw is fine mainly just looking for 'extension to the story'!!
~*~
17. fics where lqr or the juniors r so tired of them being ridiculously in love just silly little short stories
~*~
If you didn’t get an answer to your ask here, don’t forget to make use of @mdzs-kinkmeme and MDZS KINK MEME on Dreamwidth. Authors actually do use them for ideas. You may get what you order!***Your prompt doesn’t have to be kink! Fluff, crack, whatever - it’s all good!***

HI i feel big feelings about the wei in sizhui's characterization
like yes. he is so fucking lan, with his perfect poise and unbroken politeness, because of course he is– lan zhan is so incredibly lan, if one hung around him too long they would have to actively and vigorously fight the secondhand lannishness in order to come out unlanned. and even then it's a toss-up.
but sizhui's wei sparks through in little bursts and i can see it and it makes me go squee every time
- when he said "fuck it" and joined in fighting the jin disciples who talked shit about his dad
- when he turned around and talked shit about his dad To his dad(s) because wei wuxian did not raise a coward
- when he was like "hey i know yall say this wei wuxian character is Big Evil and not to be trusted but have we considered that the cultivation world is not known for being unbiased or even generally just" because questioning 1) authority and 2) the general consensus is exactly the type of shit wei ying would, did, does and absolutely will do!!!
anyway stan a'yuan and remember that he and his a'die have being a little shit in common

My Picks for 2023 Drama Fav. Awards - 2ML
✨[Event Info]✨ - Open to all!
This one was hard.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alen Fang Yilun as Zhi Yuan in "The Longest Promise" 🎊 Charismatic, passionate, and heart-breaking, as well as appalling and chilling, A'Yuan had range.
I made a screencaps post about him when I finished the drama: ["This is an A'Yuan Post"]
TBH, his character in "A Journey to Love" could be here, too, but I haven't finished that drama yet. In any case, Alen Fang might be my fave actor I discovered this year, but I didn't write a post for that category.😅
Runner-up:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Riley Wang Yilun as Bai Xiaosheng in "Back from the Brink" Loved his dedication, loyalty, and humorous expressiveness. Watching him regret his little matchmaking project was funny. XD
Hottest 2ML
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zhao Junkai as Hu Ke in "My Chinese Chic Boutique" 🎉 He served visuals; face and body. Much appreciated.
I didn't take any screencaps of his abs-closeup but, below the cut, you'll find some photoshoot pics from his weibo:

Headcanons/Thoughts about a Fem!WWX/ Yiling Matriarch AU
If Wei Ying is a woman, then so is Jiang Cheng. I don't make the rules.
That means someone else has to be the heir, so obviously Jiang Yanli is a man in this universe. The dynamic doesn't change much (shige is just as caring and just as good at making soup and parenting his menaces as shijie was, a'Ying is just as chaotic and a free spirit as a'Xian and a'Cheng is still angry and jealous and prickly) but it does a tiny bit, because a male Jiang Yanli has a lot more responsibility on his shoulders and a female Jiang Cheng as a bit less of it, because she isn't the heir (but she's still her mother's daughter, so...only a bit.) Jiang Yanli has eldest daughter syndrome in any universe.
Madam Yu is a tiny bit less hostile than in canon, because yeah, she still thinks that girl is her husband's bastard, but even if she was recognized Wei Ying couldn't be a threat to the position of Madam Yu's son. So she's still pissed, but a tiny bit less.
Jin Zixuan is a woman and has three younger sisters. Why? Because a male heir was needed and her parents had to keep trying. Unfortunatly Jin Guangshan seems incapeable of having legitimate sons. (Meng Yao is still male. And Qin Su is male too, for hilarity's sake. - all of Jin Guangshan's bastards are sons and two of them are older than his eldest legitimate daughter.) That makes Jin Zixun the heir to Lanling Jin.
Nie Mingjue is a woman. She runs the Nie Clan with an iron fist, officially as her brother's regent. A lady of war, brandishing a blade red like the blood it has spilled. (Her brother doesn't want to inherit. He wants to lounge around like a wet blanket and paint dainty things forever! Why couldn't he have been born a younger sister to an older brother, he laments to his friends. Embroidery and accounting and getting married off far away from where he has to do saber practice every day sounds like a dream actually! "Poor a'Sang! You would have been such a good little sister!", Wei Ying coos dramatically. "Suck it up, Huaisang.", Jiang Cheng grumbles, "And don't you dare cry into my robes, that's silk you fucking heathen.")
Lan Xichen is the heir to Gusu Lan. He loves his little sister dearly and would do just about everything to ensure her hapiness. Yes, even argue with the clan elders. Just a tiny bit. His aunt is completely done with his behaviour. (Not that she's any better.)
Acting Sect Leader of the Gusu Lan is Teacher Lan, the Sect Leader's younger sister. Yes, Fem!Lan Qiren. Sue me. It's mostly because the Lan seperate male and female students, and for me that means that there must also be a division between male and female teachers. So to teach Wei Ying and hate her on sight Lan Qiren has to be a woman. Sorry, not sorry.
Lan Zhan is the first daughter and second child of the Lan Clan main family line. Nothing really changes about her other than her adopting a'Yuan causing a much larger scandal (because unmarried woman suddenly has a child is much worse than unmarried man suddenly has a child, duh).
Nie Huaisang befriends the Lotus Pier girls when Wei Ying sneaks into the men's part of the Cloud Recesses one night out of curiosity and runs into him while he's being a tortured artist (read: drawing filthy porn outside by flickering candlelight because his roommates are asleep).
After the destruction of Lotus Pier Jin Guangshan offers the Jiang support - if Jiang Yanli marries into the Jin Clan, effectively making Yunmeng Jiang a part of the Jin sect. The marriage happens, but Jiang Cheng takes over as Leader of Lotus Pier to keep it independent. (Nie Huaisang volunteers to marry into her family and support her because he's turning twenty soon and he really doesn't want to be sect leader. His a'Jie vetoes it.)
Jin Guangshan marries one of his daughters to a male Qin Su, knowing full well that the boy might be his son. The newly named Jin Guangyao is in charge of wedding preparations. He is the one Madam Qin tells to stop the wedding. Obviously he doesn't.
Mo Xuanyu is still a man (very short from malnorishment and with a very feminine face, but still a man) . He apologizes for that fact quite a lot in his notes when he offers his body to the Yiling Matriarch.
The Junior Quartet consists of a Lan boy, a Lan girl who doesn't give a flying fuck about the fact that the rules say she should be on an all girls team, the heir to Lanling Jin and the heir to Baling Ouyang.
