Living In Kingdom Power
Jesus tells us to pray for God’s Kingdom to be seen on earth. We want people to see our Heavenly Father in all His hallowed majesty and glory—not merely in the ways we attempt to “Christianize” life on Earth.
Listen to the podcast of this post by clicking on the player below, and you can also subscribe on Apple, Spotify, or Audible.  https://craigtowens.files.wordpress.com/2024/01/living-in-kingdom-power.mp3 Last week I shared a quote about this Kingdom Prayer from the YouVersion reading plan The Prayer That Turns The World Upside Down. Let me remind you of one phrase: “This prayer is dangerous,…

Most of the world's great souls have been lonely. Loneliness seems to be one price the saint must pay for his saintliness. Enoch, Noah, Abraham and Moses all walked a path quite apart from their contemporaries even though many people surrounded them. The prophets of pre-Christian times differed widely from each other, but one mark they bore in common was their enforced loneliness. Jesus died alone in the darkness hidden from the sight of mortal man and no one saw Him when He arose triumphant and walked out of the tomb, even though many saw Him afterward and bore witness to what they saw. The cheerful denial of loneliness proves only that the speaker has never walked with God without the support and encouragement afforded him by society. The sense of companionship that mistakenly attributes to the presence of Christ may and probably does arise from the presence of friendly people. Always remember: you cannot carry a cross in company. Though a vast crowd surrounds a man, his cross is his alone and his carrying of it marks him as a man apart. Society has turned against him; otherwise he would have no cross. No one is a friend to the man with a cross. They all forsook Him and fled.

Tozer on the Freedom of Self-Forgetfulness
Before Tim Keller wrote The Freedom of Self-Forgetfulness, and before Dane Ortlund wrote Gentle and Lowly, there was A.W. Tozer writing The Pursuit of God. On a single train ride from Chicago to Texas, the Christian Missionary Alliance pastor wrote through the night, producing one of the Church’s most beloved meditations on communing with God. The book first released in 1948 and has never been…

Let us do away with our secular and worldly minds and cultivate sanctified minds. We have to do worldly jobs, but if we do them with sanctified minds, they no longer are worldly but are as much a part of our offering to God as anything else we give to Him.

Friend, if you need to hear this today:
“ANYTHING God has ever done, He can do now. ANYTHING God has ever done ANYWHERE, He can do HERE. ANYTHING God has ever done for ANYONE, He can do for YOU.”
Every promise in the Bible is yours.
Truly. Amen! 🙏🕊️🙌

What's more important to us? Spending time in His Word or spending time in the world? J.C. Ryle wrote, “Do not let newspapers, novels, and romances be read, while the prophets and Apostles be despised. Do not let the exciting and sensual swallow up your attention, while the edifying and the sanctifying can find no place in your mind.” On average, people spend 2 hours online every single day. If we are spending so much time using social media, watching TV shows and movies, listening to music, and so on, how can we say we don't have time to read His Word? How can we say we don't have time to pray? How can we say we don't have time to encourage one another? As A.W. Tozer wrote, “Somebody is going to control your mind. Who is it going to be? Is it going to be the advertiser? Is it going to be the public school? Is it going to be the media? Or is it going to be God? You have to make up your mind on that, my friend. Whether you want to or not, somebody is going to control your mind; who is it going to be?” We can't expect an hour or two at church every Sunday to make up for our apathy towards Him and His Word. Do not let your heart grow so cold that you no longer seek to bring glory to His name. How can you say you want to spend eternity in heaven—a place where you shall live forever to worship Him—if you aren't even willing to spend your short time on this earth getting to know the One you'll be worshiping for all eternity? Scripture tells us that we "are just a vapor that appears for a little while, and then vanishes away" (James 4:14). Make the most of your time here.
