so I had this really depressing idea that I decided to make a bot on cai (it's being made rn!!)

But like, as I kept thinking about it, it got more and more depressing ... I had this idea where Aang had a soulmate in the Air Nation, and that he was in the Southern Air Temple – just like Aang. And they were best friends, and of course Aang fell in love with him and he finally realizes it.

So he partially brings it up one day, not being super open that he loves his soulmate because he's worried about how he'll react. And he's also saying it because he just found out he's the Avatar and he's really scared about it, and also scared about his best friend leaving him.

Of course, he tells his best friend that he's the Avatar, and gets really scared that he wouldn't want to be around him anymore like the other kids – but the soulmate doesn't react like that. He's like "of course I'll still be friends with you, it'd be ridiculous not to be"

But then Aang runs away still, out of fear. He gets frozen in the ice for a hundred years. He's woken up by Katara and he finds out the Air Nation all died... everyone...

Including his soulmate... and now he's destined to forever be alone. Without anyone that's truly bound by fate to him... nobody would ever want to be with him as much as his soulmate, but, his soulmate died...

No, but like Aang probably thought all those people he threw off cliffs or through buildings or delt fatal blows to were fine because he fought Zuko for so long.

Like, man got blown up. Man has had multiple people try to kill him and survived. Man got thrown through buildings and survived. He is that “why won’t you die??” Antagonist (and later fellow protagonist).

Aang has been unknowingly sending people to their deaths because he thought everyone in the fire nation was either an unkillable, little cockroach like Zuko or so overwhelmingly skilled and talented like Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee and would 100% survive that kind of damage.

Firebenders (both from ATLA and TLOK are fine) warming you up on a cold day?

There are a lot of firebenders in the two shows, I never noticed how many there were.

Pairing: Aang, Zuko, Korra, Mako, Iroh II x Reader

A/N: I included Aang and Korra cause they're the Avatars, plus I'm in love with Korra.

Aang panics for a moment when he sees you're shaking and cold. Don't panic, like he is, he will warm you up right away. He takes your hands in his and lets you feel the warmth of his breath when he brings them close to his lips, not at all noticing as your cheeks warm up too at him holding your hands.

Zuko doesn't hesitate to pull you against his body and wrap his arms tightly and fully around you. He breaths out a little fire close to you, not enough to burn anything but enough to make you feel heat. Kissing could work too and he doesn't need to just keep it at your lips either, his lips are warm too after all.

Korra makes a fire all around you two so you're warm on all sides. While you lean on her shoulders you notice her stiffen for a moment, she's still a bit shy when you're so casually affectionate with her. When she's doing it it's fine but there's no time to dwell on that, you're cold so she has to hold you and warm you up.

Mako firstly makes a fire right in front of you so you can sit in front of it and he can sit behind you. Will give you his scarf if you need it, he doesn't want you to get cold from any part of your body being cold. What actually makes you shiver isn't the cold, it's him exposing a bit of your neck to kiss it.

Iroh II is very practical and knows he needs to act fast so you don't get sick. At the same time he will take this opportunity to point out how he did tell you to pack warmer clothes and you refused so you only have yourself to blame here. When you push yourself into his arms he gives you his jacket to make you even warmer.

Headcanon: When he hits his teenage years, Aang starts fucking with his friends by making up all sorts of wild stuff that totally happened 100 years ago. Toph always says "he's not lying", but at this point the Gaang knows that The Gremlin Supports Lying For Fun, so Aang always suggests going to Bumi to confirm whatever bullshit he's spewing this time. And he always does.

The Gaang figures that Aang must be somehow coordinating this with Bumi, because no matter how absurd the lie is, Bumi is always 100% on board and can elaborate on it seamlessly. They keep trying to find out how Aang and Bumi are coordinating the lies, going so far as to intercept Aang's letters to Bumi to check for secret codes, but they can never find anything.

And the truth is that they're not coordinating. Bumi just rolls with whatever Aang comes up with because it's hilarious and Aang is his buddy.

he's not scared of them nonono not at all

his whole thing is flying with his glider and being in the air i.e. laughing at gravity he HATES anything that makes him feel more gravity than absolutely necessary aka rollercoasters and on occasion elevators

(no one knows this though because by the time he meets the rest of the Gaang, he finds out that katara LOVES rollercoasters and also katara will hold his arm very tightly if he is next to her on one so maybe rollercoasters aren't so bad after all)

Zuko ☆

When you softly wince getting out of bed, Zuko is instantly concerned. "You okay?" he asks, brows furrowed.

After you admit to some mild soreness, he feels guilty for being so rough. He presses a gentle kiss to your forehead and murmurs apologies.

His touch turns even more tender and careful as he helps you move. Strong arms support you gently while fetching hot tea and warming up breakfast.

Over breakfast in bed, he massages you aching muscles lovingly. "I got carried away yesterday. Should've gone easier on you, princess." .

Zuko insists on a lazy morning cuddling,while rubbing your thighs gently , His embrace is protective and comforting, . "Let me take care of you today, love."

Extra kisses are peppered wherever they'll draw a smile from you. trying to ease any lingering pain or discomfort.

If pain doesn't go away, he won't hesitate to call in the doctor ,your wellbeing is top priority over anything else.

Zuko is perfect when it comes to aftercare, he loves you too much to see you in discomfort .

Aang ☆

When you wake with a soft groan, every muscle aching, Aang is immediately attentive.

"Sore, baby?" he asks gently, brows furrowed with concern. You nod stiffly and he clicks his tongue in sympathy.

He fetches a warm heating pad, gently spreading it over your sensitive areas and massaging any knots he finds tenderly.

"I got carried away last night, I'm sorry. Should've been more careful," he murmurs, pressing apologetic kisses to your shoulders.

You assure him it was more than worth the feeling. Aang still feels guiltily and responsible.

He draws a hot bath, helping you ease slowly in with a soft sigh. He helps you wash gently, kneading sore muscles under water.

Later, with medicine and rest, movement comes easier and pain goes away. He still hovers protectively, reassured by your smiles and kisses.

Sokka ☆

The next morning, Sokka notices you moving a bit stiffly while making breakfast.

coming up behind to whisper in your ear - "Sore, are we? I didn't take you for such a lightweight."

His lips curl in a smug smirk, eyes glittering with mischief. You glare and elbow him half-heartedly.

Later at lunch, he secretly feeds you extra protein and gives you a back massage to soothe your aching muscles.

"Sorry, I may have gotten a little carried away last night," he apologizes sheepishly, pressing gentle kisses to your shoulder.

That evening, he draws you a relaxing bath. "Let me take care of you properly this time," Sokka offers softly.

After, you two cuddle in bed as he feeds you snacks and rubs soothing lotion into your skin, eyes full of affection.

"You okay? We don't have to do anything else tonight, just rest," he assures you.

When you make love again more gently, he takes his time exploring and memorizing every inch of you with deep love and care

Katara was treated as a prize for aang at the end of avatar. It was obvious that she was never interested in him as nothing more than a little brother.

In all honesty she didn’t even seem that interested in him after he saved the world, it just felt like the creators needed some way to award Aang and so they gave him Katara.

I will say, I think it's interesting when people say that arguing that the finale and Kataang happening the way it was just giving Aang what he wanted is somehow us taking Katara's agency away. Katara was rightfully angry with Aang in her last two encounters with him. Giving her agency within that narrative would look like her actually having a conversation with Aang and telling him how she felt. I don't just mean romantically, I mean having an actual conversation where her conflict with him is laid out and resolved, like it would be in any healthy friendship, and much more a healthy romance. People can argue that they had a conversation off screen. That's fine. I will never tell anyone they can't headcanon whatever they please. It's none of my business unless they make it my business. Have so much fun. Don't even think about me or my opinions. They don't matter.

However, she never had that conversation. It's not in the show. It's not in the comics. It's not canon. The way her moment of "oh, I like him" was set up implied that she only considered him romantically because he ostensibly singlehandedly "saved the day" (he most certainly did not). There's never a moment where she gets to be vulnerable with him and have him help her carry her burden. No moment of why she might like him romantically (and also, may I add, we never see what, aside from her looks, Aang likes about Katara). Any "build up" of Kataang on her end is largely done through external circumstances and not the result of her coming to understand her feelings (this from the passionate girl who wears her heart on her sleeve for the entire series). They are also never again brought up by her- and the times it brought up by Aang in canon are disastrous (Lava Fissure Incident. EIP. Arguably DoBS). Katara never has a chance to confront Aang on his blatant disrespect of her culture, and it's never walked back- in fact, IIRC, in the comics, he supports the soft colonization of the SWT by the NWT.

I can understand why people have the headcanon that Katara and Aang had a deep conversation off-screen that resolved all their issues and gave Katara a chance to tell him she liked him and why. I think that if you ship them, you kind of have to headcanon something like that. But I do not think canon supports it. Their deep conversations center Aang and his feelings. Katara's feelings never seem to matter that much to Aang. He didn't even care that Katara and Sokka had lost their father to the Fire Nation after Hakoda sacrificed himself to save Aang's stupid behind. He wanted to go run off and play. Our hero, ladies and babies. There has to be a lot of head canoning to make Kataang work. I know because everything I hate about Aang and Kataang is canon. If I'm basing Kataang on the canon, it looks just like the glimpses we get in LoK, only with a lot less hero worship of Aang.

Don't get me wrong, all the overt romance in Zutara is pure headcanon. I recognize that and I love that for us. What's not head canon is that Zuko shows Katara a ton of support and respect in their short onscreen friendship. And at the risk of upsetting Aang's fans, I will argue Zuko showed her feelings more consideration than Aang ever did in the entire series.

as i think about aang trauma blocking his death out his memory as he gets older, i also remember that his back scar faded significantly throughout book 3 while his foot scar never did.

and the fact that this is something that aang would never request or even think about.

but katara would. and she’ll never forget no matter how much his scar fades. now i can’t get the image of her healing his back in between episodes out of my head :(

idk if this was artist discretion or intentional. i guess we’ll have to see in the gaang movie
