Accidents happen
The house was louder than normal. Your husband had arrived home after a seemingly eventful meeting at the main estate. The wind and stone pillar arrived with him, one grumbling about a 'stupid kid' as they all made their way to the back garden. You had paid their arrival no mind as you continued with your housework, preparing for a big dinner with all of the hashira present. It was a regular occurrence to have a gathering after the yearly hashira meeting. It was their day to catch up with each other as a group. Of course, you had been to this gathering before but this was your first gathering as an official married couple, so of course, you offered to have it at your estate. Things had been going smoothly, the house was clean, dinner had been cooking, and you were finalizing the setup for so many guests when Sanemi came rushing into your estate, his usual grimace replaced with a panicked expression as he approached you.
"I think we messed up" you expected someone to be dying in your garden when Sanemi said those words but this was far from it, and you were a lot less prepared for what was in front of you. Obanai stood in the middle of your koi pond, drenched as a slew of curses and insults flew from his mouth, directed at Gyomei who stood a few feet away from him, tears streaming down his face as he prayed for forgiveness.
"If you think for a second I'm not going to completely demolish everything you’ve ever cared for then you are a complete fucking moron. So big but your brain is the size of a god damn pea. How the fuck did you think that was a good idea? My own fucking back-" his rant was interrupted as you cleared your throat causing him to turn towards you.
"Can I ask why you are standing in our koi pond?" He scoffed at your question, pulling at the bandages that were slipping off of his cheeks, the annoyance written in his face as the creases in his eyebrows deepened.
"Y/N, it is my fault. Allow me to repent for the mistakes I have made. I'm afraid our sparring session got out of hand. I didn't want to ruin the flowers you have worked so hard to grow that I ended up throwing Iguro into the pond." Gyomei lowered himself to his knees bowing as he apologized to you for the unfortunate situation your husband was in. You were still confused about how exactly he had ended up in the pond but it didn't matter as Kaburamaru slithered through the rocks, making a quick escape from the water. You walked to the edge of the pond, holding a hand out for your husband as you helped him escape your kid's home.
"Let’s go get you cleaned up, my love. You two!” you turned to Gyomei and Sanemi “Don’t mess up my yard or I’m making the both of you take Tengen home after dinner!” they bowed, fear washing over their faces briefly at the thought of having to drag a clingy, inebriated sound pillar home. You followed behind obanai as he trudged into the house, the wet noises of his soaked uniform filled the house as he beelined towards your bedroom, hoping to rid himself of his soaked uniform.
“I will go get a towel" you padded into the bathroom, grabbing a folded towel before going to the bedroom. "oba? I have a towel"
"Come in" Obanai sat on the bed half-naked, unraveling the rest of the soaked gauze from his face. the muscles in his arm flexed as he moved, a teasing reflex that had you clearing your throat. He glanced at you briefly, an exhausted expression passing over his face momentarily as he finished unraveling himself. His shoulders were slumped as he leaned forward, defined back on display.
"You look tired my dear" you moved to stand Infront of him, pushing his knees so you could stand in between them. He looked up at you, eyes trailing across your face before they met your worried gaze. "you should get some rest before everyone else gets here, I'm sure the other two wouldn't mind a group nap" he chuckled, taking the towel from your hands and wiping his face.
"I couldn't rest like that" he tossed the towel onto the bed, bare arms circling your waist as he embraced you, pulling you into him. "I'll just take my rest here" he found comfort in you, the way you molded into him, understanding what he wanted, what he needed just with a look. It was the small gestures that made him want to hold you, carry you around with him so he would never get lonely or homesick. You were his home. Pulling away from his embrace you cupped his face, holding him in your hands.
“We can stay here, I will never say no to being with you” his face heated under your palms, scars stretching as he smiled.
“Who taught you to speak like this? So embarrassing” You chuckled, resting your forehead against his, his wet strands of hair tickling your face, similar to the feeling of Kaburamaru when she’s happy.
“ill get some tea started and bring out some food, just try to relax then" He nodded against you, smearing the water that sat in his hair. You chuckled at his clinginess, the affection he shared for only your eyes to witness, for your body to feel and enjoy.
“Right” You pulled out of his embrace, leaving a chaste kiss on his forehead before moving to leave the room.
Gyomei and Sanemi had made their way inside, both of them seated around the dining table with a steaming pot and cups already sitting in front of them. Kaburamaru had wrapped herself around Gyomeis neck, relishing in the warmth his body had provided while she rested.
“I see you guys already made tea” Looking up from his cup Sanemi chuckled, mouth widening into his usual shit-eating grin.
“I’m not taking Tengen home” Gyomei huffed in agreement, sipping languidly on his cup. Seating yourself next to Gyomei you reached up to pet Kaburamaru, her eyes shooting open as you scratched under her chin, flicking small kisses at your fingertips.
“Was the meeting bad?” You sipped at the cup Gyomei had made for you, scooting it towards your voice. Sanemi rolled his eyes as tears came down from Gyomeis, his gruff voice explaining exactly how bad it was.
“We have to let in a demon, we are supposed to allow a damned demon into the fucking demon slayer corps. I respect the master with my whole being, but this is fucking stupid” Sanemi leaned back onto his forearms, letting his head roll onto his shoulder, the irritation in his voice more than obvious. You hummed, unsure how to even proceed with the information given to you.
“He’s seen Muzan as well. He came face to face with the demon king” Gyomei didn’t move as he continued, eyebrows furrowed as he spoke. “Not even the most powerful hashira have been that lucky. Okuyata-sama hasn’t even seen him.” Sanemi sighed from across the table, frustration making a home in his grimace.
“Things are changing” Obanai sauntered into the dining room, taking a seat next to you. He had changed into a dry uniform, fresh gauze had been wrapped snugly against his lips, hiding the supposed flaws that he had.
“Things are changing, but we are constant. This is a battle that can be won, I know it can” You leaned into the arm he had wrapped around you, easily falling into a comfortable silence with the one you loved.
