i don't quite remember what in canon i latched onto, this was so long ago, but i can give you my reasoning and why i think they're adorable.

i have adhd so adhd headcanons are my thing, and fig and adaine both have adhd in my head. adaine is hyperfocused and fig is hyperactive. those together are some of my favorite ships.

in canon, fig is the loudest and most proud of who she is. she's just fig. which is one of my favorite things about her. she kisses older, unattainable men and also has a girlfriend. it's never labeled. she's just fig.

adaine is very contemplative and prone to overthinking, with quiet, overwhelming rage. she doesn't really come out of her shell until she meets the rest of the bad kids, and when she does, she's still a big old nerd and loves her books. research is her thing.

their personalities go together really well. punk gf/nerd gf. loud/quiet. impulsive/overthinker. they balance each other out, adaine calms fig down, and fig calms adaine down. they both have unrelenting, destructive rage about totally different things, but they're there for each other no matter what. fig is marginally quieter when adaine is around because the constant loud noises is difficult for adaine's anxiety, and adaine is always louder when fig's around, emotional support person to soothe some of her anxieties.

in conclusion, it's a lot of headcanons for me. i don't know if this is good propaganda, but it's exactly why i ship them. they're a nice balance of chaos and thoughtfulness.
