like how are you gonna acknowledge that this is an INDUSTRY WIDE ISSUE and then expect thousands of people in highly specialized fields to just "get another job" in the middle of a fucking pandemic purely to satisfy the morals you orate comfortably from your couch as a consumer? can you not imagine what a flaming fucking dogshit dumpster fire HELL it must be to clock in for your daily shift at blizzard right now? a place that was supposed to be a dream job, the end-all-be-all, just to be treated like garbage?

like what's your argument? do you want to victim blame and say they were stupid or naive for believing it would be an equitable workplace? do you want this to remain the industry standard? or are you willing to not push back against even the smallest iota of change so that momentum is created?

do you want blizzard to improve as a company or not? do you want the workers to feel safe at work and proud of their workplace upholding its core values, or not? when blizzard released their rainbow pins i firsthand witnessed backlash from queer players and fans, their skepticism rooted only in "well they've never done this before now". so... better late than never, or would you prefer never? everything has a beginning. everything starts somewhere.

of course this shit is nuanced, and of course this isn't the end of the road. but either direct your vitriol toward the people who deserve it, or recognize that revolutionary change doesn't happen because of a handful of retweets and a change.org petition. workers seizing means of production starts, in part, by those workers saying "we refuse to let these abusers be lionized in our products", and altering what they produce. the wow team and overwatch team releasing individual statements actively refuting the ABK statement is the workers taking a stand. these teams eliminating references to abusers is part of making daily life better for the employees as well as making a statement about their values to their audiences. talk to actual employees at blizzard, follow #ABetterABK. but most of all you need to actually support the employees, which means acknowledging that they are still in the throes of their abusive workplace.

Microsoft is apparently buying Activision-Blizzard and I dont know how to feel about it.

Yeah I’m waiting for a statement from any of the #ABetterABK people. I don’t really trust this, I don’t know if Microsoft is incentivized to improve workplace conditions and conduct for ActiBlizz workers or if it’ll let the union-busting continue. It looks like they’re letting Kotick stay so I’m not getting my hopes up. I feel like ActiBlizz’s cross-platform IP’s will stay as cross platform—some articles are talking about a ‘metaverse rush’ so I don’t think Microsoft-exclusivity for upcoming games is happening… yet.

God reading over this answer makes me feel like a very boring cyberpunk 2077 character.

Breaking: Testeurs chez Raven Software, une division d'Activision, disent qu'ils ont formé un syndicat et demandent une reconnaissance volontaire. L'unité de 34 personnes est la première Syndicat dans l'industrie du jeu vidéo budgétaire. Classé au terminal Bloomberg, histoire à venir sous peu.

Les logiciels de corbeau, principalement des testeurs d'assurance qualité, ont marché du travail au début de décembre à la suite d'une mise à pied de masse d'autres testeurs d'assurance qualité au studio. Bien que cela ait été transporté depuis, le sortant n'a eu aucun effet, sans aucun des testeurs de QA ajustés précédemment, qui avaient été des entrepreneurs, réparaient.

Apparemment en réponse, un groupe de travailleurs de 34 personnes, également des testeurs d'assurance qualité, chez le logiciel Raven formant une union. Appelé l'alliance des travailleurs du jeu, le groupe a déjà pris à Twitter pour expliquer ses principes. À travers l'Union, les travailleurs du logiciel de Raven, le développeur principal derrière le bétail de Battle Royale massivement populaire: Warzone, cherchent à réduire le crunch, créez la transparence entre le leadership et les travailleurs et veiller à ce que les testeurs d'assurance qualité reçoivent «respect, indemnisation appropriée» et opportunités de développement de carrière.

Avant que l'Union nouvellement formée puisse accomplir l'un de ses objectifs, il doit être reconnu par Activision. Dans le même fil sur Twitter, l'Union demande que le logiciel de corbeau et le leadership d'Activision reconnaissent volontairement notre syndicat et respectent notre droit d'organiser sans représailles ni ingérence.

Venir sur les talons d'Activision Blizzard's Acquisition par Microsoft, il n'est pas clair que la réponse à l'alliance du travailleur du jeu sera. Aux termes de l'acquisition, Activision Blizzard et Microsoft ont confirmé que ni l'un ni l'autre n'est engagé avec des syndicats et refusé de reconnaître toute grève ou sorcier en cours, y compris au logiciel Raven.

Activision Blizzard a atteint Bloomberg concernant la formation de l'Union, soulignant sa taille relativement petite au sein de la société. تقييم العلاقة هذا وصل أمس لحد إعلان مايكروسوفت أنها سوف تستحوذ على أكتيفجن، ولكن يبدو بأن هذه الخظوة ولدت بعض الهواجس والقلق عند موظفي الشركة، فهناك من ذكر بأن سبنسر سيخيب أملهم بحال قرر إبقاء Bobby Kotick في منصبه.

وعدد من الموظفين الذين قاموا بالمظاهرات والإضراب ذكروا بأنهم خائفون من أن يتم تضييع كل تلك الجهود وسط التغييرات التي سيسبب بها الاستحواذ. البعض الآخر تخوف من مستقبله المهني بعد الاستحواذ وإن كانت مايكروسوفت ستبقي على كل الموظفين أو لا.

من ناحية أخرى هنالك من تحدث عن خطورة الاستحواذ لناحية تعزيز الاحتكار بالصناعة مع تخوف من تأثير الصفقة خصوصاً إذا ما تم حصر ألعاب Call of Duty للاكسبوكس معتبرين بأن هذا ليس صحياً على الإطلاق.

Microsoft basically just purchased a company mired in stories of abuse.

If their first move is not to make serious change, a lot of that bad sentiment might start sticking to Microsoft too.

This makes huge games like Call of Duty Microsoft exclusives now, one would assume.
