a/n: you are so galaxy brained for this one. I'll also be writing these concepts more like headcanons/blurbs just because it's a bit easier to do (and way more fun ngl)

also! I've plugged this playlist before on clean slate but I just have to plug it again because OP captures what I imagine bruce's taste is PERFECTLY with the grunge and nu metal

now, battinson's bruce definitely doesn't set out with the intention to make you a playlist... at first

bruce is one of those people that has to have music on while they work so he'll be fixing up the batmobile or working out when a song comes on shuffle and he just. starts thinking about you. whether the lyrics express his feelings or he just thinks you'd like the sound, he'll quietly make a note about it and the list just naturally grows on its own

I think bruce is into alt rock and metal—branching into the subgenres a bit as he's feeling out his taste—so expect a lot of music of that vein

(I do like the idea that bruce has also retained some of his parents' music taste which consists of oldies from the 50's and 60's ;-;; he has a lot of respect for jazz and swing and the occasional sappy love song)

for some reason I can't see bruce making you a digital playlist, like I really see him putting in the effort to make you a cd LMAO and he'll scribble on the face of it something like "for you" or "songs you might like" or something unintentionally cheesy so that you can pop it into your car stereo and listen to it in surround sound. he will try to make you something more portable at your behest BUT he insists you have something physical too. not to be soft but he's really adamant about you getting to hold the physical and audial amalgamation of his feelings for you

he is sooooooooo eager to hear your thoughts on the songs too!! I know I said bruce doesn't really set out to make you a playlist but I swear on bruce's electric guitar that that man spends hours combing over every lyric, every singer, and the order of the songs to make sure that it's flawless before he even THINKS about presenting it to you. and you know this loser will still try to be cool about it like leaving it in your vicinity and telling you to check it out whenever you get a chance

there are very few things I think bruce is readily prepped to info dump about but of those few things, cars and music are by far at the top of the list. you'll ask him about one of the songs he put on the playlist and he'll give you the drummer's entire life story just to explain the breakdown during one (1) part of the song

(something something sharing an experience intimately with the one you love something something carrying an arrangement of sounds and words and feelings around with you forever that reach back as far as one moment in one band member's life that resulted in one verse that now perfectly encompasses the love you feel-)

he really does try not to be too bothered if you don't end up liking it but like I said, dude's agonized over every possible aspect of this playlist and even if he doesn't want to show it, he ABSOLUTELY wants you to like it..... he'll very obviously watch you like a hawk when you come to give him your thoughts on it, hanging onto every word

if you like it he is OVER the moon about it. he'll get to work right away on a new one (though he won't tell you) and try to aim for a different vibe so that you have playlists for every mood like he does

(you cannot tell me bruce doesn't have playlists for every mood. he 100% has one just to get him pumped to leave the house for patrol lmao)

he appreciates if you're honest about not liking it too! while music is something very dear to him, there are so many other things that you two can share. it doesn't have to end there. he'll also probably try to make you a playlist of music you gravitate toward more, even if it's out of his comfort zone

if he knows you're lying about liking it he will be crushed. please don't lie abt ur feelings, you can tell him the truth and he'll find a rooftop and cry on it handle it like the adult he is

jk jk but no seriously, if you don't end up liking his song choices or maybe you both just don't share the same music taste at all, it's ok!!! bruce strikes me as the kind of guy who sticks very strictly to his favorite genre and isn't super comfortable branching out but music is a window into his soul, so why can't it also be a window into yours?

he will 100% ask you about your favorite artists and add their music to his usual rotation until he GETS comfortable with it (esp if you're hanging out with him in the batcave. he will hear you get excited and start singing along and laugh under his breath ;-; he might even sing along with you, but you didn't hear that from me)

we also know that bruce has a fucking electric GUITAR and he probably only plays it in his downtime when no one is around, but if you ask him to play for you, he'll... consider it

I headcanon that he wasn't trained in guitar, he just sort of played by ear for years and taught himself until he got decent at it, so he does worry that you won't be impressed by it. but whether you know how to play yourself or not, he would really appreciate any encouragement on your end and probably play for you more unprompted after the fact

(and maybe one day he might write you a song of your own...?)

(there's a box under his bed of failed songwriting attempts from when he was a teenager that will never see the light of day)

OK TO PREFACE im only about halfway through zexal rn (on about episode 82) so I don't have the full Kaito spectrum on my plate just yet, but here's my thoughts with what I've got from him so far:

favorite thing about them: like looking at everything about Kaito/Kite on the table, he is....an extraordinarily silly yugioh character, and I adore that about him. He's this weirdo 18 year old beefing with middle schoolers AND he has turbo bad dad problems AND he has a funny little robot sidekick AND he flies around on the robot AND he's a very very sweet big brother (I love his interactions with Hart especially, the way his whole demeanor shifts...really really good.)

least favorite thing about them: ok this one isnt really Kite's fault but oh my Fucking god galaxy eyes decks on duel links are an absolute un-nerfec NIGHTMARE to deal with to the point that every time i run into a Kite main i groan internally because I know the next eight minutes or so are going to Suck. konami nerf that fucking skill PLEASE.

favorite line: ok so in the dub which is what i watch, he only ever calls his father "Dr. Faker", like, exclusively. Except towards the end of zexal I when Faker's about to fall into the Barian Wormhole Black Hole Fuckery Whatever, and Kite says "Now where's my dad?" And that's just such a lovely subtle little choice there with the language, I really like it. I love ygo families so much.

brOTP: I love his relationship with Hart so much, but I also ABSOLUTELY LOVE TO BITS the dynamic he has with Quinton/V/Chris Arclight....like they really clocked me over the head with Surprise Surrogate Siblings Moments with the kite/quinton duel during the WDC and that has me BARKING AND HOWLING!!! MY TYPE OF CONTENT

OTP: idk if i have one rn?? Kind of vibing with aro Kite in general tbh. firing my beam attack (aromanticism)

nOTP: kite/yuma...... nnnnot a fan. You Are 18 Go Date Someone Who's Not a Middle Schooler. Please.

random headcanon: I feel like this guy definitely forgets to eat and will routinely keep like. a granola bar or jerky in his big stupid coat that he inevitably forgets is in there until it's been pulverized to crumbs post-flying around on Orbital adventure.

unpopular opinion: again dont really know whats popular and whats unpopular but kite's like....role in the story does perplex me a little (not in a bad way. just in a I'm Thinking About This Way). Like it's not uncommon for ygos to give the protag secondary rivals (hi jaden) but Kite and Shark are really like BOTH jammed into the Designated Rival slot and it's an interesting choice. wait hang on as im typing this im having the brain blast---is kite supposed to be ASTRAL'S rival, not yuma's??? HANG ON. SECTION CANCELED I NEED TO THINK ON THAT ONE.

yk i’ve thought about hairy!james before but hairy!sirius is new to me and genuinely that is a hc that is so galaxy brained…it rly is so much fun if sirius is stupid tall and hairy and remus basically only has his curls and silly little mustache that he only grows on principle. comes into a room one day walking weird and james is all “beard burn on ur thighs again, luv?” and remus is like “fuck off. no. yes. fuck you” and walks right back out again lol.

-in the chatroom you were always so chatty, never afraid to make jokes or be a major dork, often going along with Seven’s dumb bits, driving the other members crazy... but as with all things, appearances can be deceiving, and social anxiety was prone to creep up at the worst of times

-even with his galaxy level brain, Seven didn’t quite understand why you were so quiet any time you met with him in real life, why you clammed up and essentially put it on him to carry every conversation

-after explaining that you were just nervous to talk to him, and hiding behind a screen was easier in letting you be yourself he just chuckles, making self depracating jokes about himself in hopes of making you laugh

-man just wants you to be happy and comfortable

-would bring an actual screen and put it between the two of you when you hung out alone just to annoy you, and it was through that which he hoped you'd open up more, by jokingly “annoying” you, a shitty plan in hindsight but alas

-wouldn’t mind carrying conversations, would pay more attention and purposefully ask open ended questions and make sure you had time to speak

-take the anxiety that Seven felt about being afraid he’d done something wrong and multiply it by 1,000

-he’s similar too though in being shyer in person, which causes a bit of an issue in the long silences that follow the two of you around wherever you go

-after talking it out with his brother he decides to confront you about it, if nothing else just to put his mind to rest

-reassuring him that he’d done nothing wrong was by far the most helpful, and the back and forth conversation that followed where you and him quietly giggled and bonded over being introverts allowed you to understand each other better

-not very proactive, would let you go at your own pace when it comes to opening up, and doesn't mind the long silences, instead he starts to find peace in them

-that being said, he’s elated when you get a burst of courage to talk more, is absolutely in love with hearing you talk

-gets incredibly blushy when he thinks about the fact that he’s the one making you nervous but that anxiety isn’t caused by something negative. he honestly feels the same most of the time towards you, texting is incredibly different than being in person and he can recognize that

Chapter 3

Magical nonsense vs magical lotsasense

AKA: The magic of luv

Once upon a time, a Sunset fresh from the portal found, to her horror and shuddering dismay, that Canterlot City boasted the most mom-and-pop shops per capita. Ew.

Sunny as soon as she comes to Canterlot City: "This place needs some good ol' fashioned gentrification."

...swanky enough to make Twilight feel like a queen.

Interesting choice of words, instead of princess too. Especially since in the first chapter Flash believed Pony!Twilight was becoming a “queen” as well.

(Technically, Twi was already a Princess, and what she was doing before was a succession. Would that make her a queen? Or just Princess Prime? Alpha Princess? Her Grand Princess Supreme, Breaker of Chains, Redeemer of Evil, and heir to the throne of Equestria?)

Too much?

Back to my main point, maybe Sunny wants her SciTwi to get the same things Twi deserves, being the same people...sorta. It would explain her push for SciTwi to be a leader.

Okay, Sunset could admit she’d gone an itty bit lax on the proper courting etiquette that her days in the high-culture capitol of Equestria just about infused in her....

Okay... more reminiscing about the good ol’ days eh Sunset? Oh how it was a waste of ballroom dancing talent. How you represented the House of Celestia...aka the Royal Family. A wasted youth. You'd be much better as Celestia's successor wouldn't you?

Date night with the love of your life and you still can't let go. But Sunset, it's also clearly not the kind of life you liked either. You were good at it sure, but that doesn't mean you enjoy it. It doesn't mean it's something you have to do. If anything, you know at this point that it's not for you.

Well I'm sure you'll be able to show off at the coronation either way!

But Sunset had to admit, that midnight blue tuxedo, sporting a diagram of the big dipper over the lapel and a magenta bow-tie, held Twilight’s every curve dearly.

"MIDNIGHT" BLUE???

Tbh the latter part of that song always reminded me of the James Bond theme, so a tux is a good choice.

Okay so I know it's not shown and would be hard as heck to do... I think... but I'm just... picturing Sunset on her bike in her full dress going down the street.

Even more I picture an absolutely devastated Rarity over such a transgression.

Kind of sidebar but I just came up with another Conspiracy Theory: What if, they track down the other Sunset. But after a long and dramatic search, they only find a grave? Sunset has a hard time, visits where she used to live, what people said about her. Then they fight evil Sombra, settle differences and problems, and move on.

Then at the coronation they see Princess Twilight with the actual human Sunset in her glory as a pony and that's "The Royal Family". The love endures in multiple universes. Or maybe she’s with someone else, if we compare who AJ is shipped with in each universe.

I love the description comparing Twi to the stars, and then just swaps to a more bodily desire. Like, you went from the cosmos themselves that inspire awe and feelings of amazement like a romantic-era author to HOT DAMN SHE BANGIN'

Truly it's monkey brain at work. But then again, there’s something to being with someone you love, who you think is the most attractive person ever and that suddenly makes you babble like an idiot.

"Every now and all the time"

You know, the description of comparing SciTwi to all the stars and galaxies and things, makes me wonder if Sunset's rooftop stargazing was actually her just staring at her gf the entire time.

Okay so, fanciest of pants is totally a nod to the pony character. Aaaaand now I'm picturing Fleur as some kind of French Geoff Ramsey in the kitchen (working part time since she does go to Crystal Prep). Wait, what do you mean that's what all French cooks are like?

I'm sorry to all the Francophones, the only ones I know are actually all good and pure and kind it's really a terrible stereotype.

"I'll have our very best wait staff take you to your table."

And then Flash shows up. He DOES do his best AND IT SHOWS. FANCY PANTS SAID SO!!

You know, waiters and waitresses are many things. Underpaid being among them, especially for the work they do and what they put up with. They aren't necessarily essential, as you can have a chef prepare a meal and just hand you the food when it's ready. But with all the other things that go on in a restaurant to amplify the experience, take orders, ask if they need anything more, take verbal abuse from angry customers. Dare I say they're a significant form of cooking support? They support the customers in having a good time, they support the chef. No one goes to a restaurant for the wait staff, but damn a good wait staff can make it into an amazing experience - between the customers themselves or between the customers and the chef's food, or both. And I think it says something that Flash is in this role.

Now I'm picturing Flash as some sort of grizzled jungle guide, leading the pair through with a machete, hacking away at the oppressive tree-high tablecloths that surround them.

Hmmm. Metaphor for Sunny? Her life growing up in a place that emphasizes a classical form of music, but underneath is really something else? Sunny is a literal cover song, masking what she is/was.

Also literally her rn when she's thirsty af but is holding it back under the guise of the romantic date.

"More worried if nothing went wrong around us"

Honestly? Same.

She only noticed Twilight wasn’t laughing anymore when she saw the way her eyebrows met over her eyes, but by then it was too late to pass off that self-degradation as a hilarious joke—which would usually be easy since Sunset’s life was a hilarious joke.

Way to talk like a millennial.

I’ve got this nasty habit of taking everyone I care about down with me.

Wait what does that mean? That... hasn't happened before has it? WHO DID YOU TAKE DOWN? I know it was a joke but it was also not a joke??? Or is it simply meant as like, “I feel depressed so I have a habit of making everyone else depressed too.”

OKAY so she IS feeling jealous. But it's still a question of pinpointing what you're feeling jealous of.

So she IS happy, but again its mixed in with something else

How much space in Sunset’s brain was wasted on knowing the difference between fancy pieces of cutlery?

Oof. So yeah it built up to that. It's not just a longing. It feels like a waste of time. Which is relatable. How much time do you do something you don't like, and then find out later in life you didn't need it? That you could've spent that time doing something better? More worthwhile? Especially when things are forced on us? In school, by our parental figures. Even more, how much of that gets lost because it's not practiced? Because we practice things we like and are immediately useful. I do subscribe to the belief that, if you don't use it, you lose it.

It’s really cute to me that you’d much rather spend your Saturdays playing video games in sweats. That’s so you. I like that.”

The way it sounds though, her childhood was all work and no play, but now she's all play and no work (Except the school and sushi thing)

But it's kinda even more difficult because you figure things out more as you grow older. Playing catch up on childhood in your teens well... doesn't really help going into adulthood the same way.

Sunset so down to earth, SciTwi is the the stars in the sky. What a perfect couple.

Maybe you're jealous that Twi got her happy ending, that she found her place in life.

Waaaaait. Sunset was surprised by Flash's reaction, he introduced them, he was happy for them. But then again, was he? Maybe he was also jealous? So maybe he really relates to Sunny.

You know, it says a whole lot more to their relationship and their relate-ability now. Sunset and SciTwi both compare themselves to Pony Twi, and Sci has a lot more catching up to do.

Tbf, y’all also saved the world. Who knows what out of control magic entities can do. Just cause you stop them from conquering the world early on doesn't make it any less heroic. Or maybe it does. But that's what makes everyday good deeds heroic. You never leave a wrong to ripen into evil. And who knows, maybe Sombra's gonna be that nuclear level big bad.

"I feel like I should want that much power..."

But ambition, is what I believed, would be the only way to set me free~.

You keep leading them into the fray like a warrior captain leading the charge! Solar-Lunar war, remember?! You know who else heads towards danger? Firefighters. They're equipped with the skills and knowledge and tools to handle it better than anyone. Because it's a job that needs doing. And sometimes people need saving. It's not your fault if the threats come. Okay well, I mean, situations more complicated than that but the magic is here and it comes regardless of whether you’re there or not. Might as well be there.

"Scarier to think about losing them"

Sunset nodded. “They’re family now. I haven’t had that in years.” Even now, when the word came out of her mouth, her first thought was them. Or Princess Celestia, if she was honest. Anything beyond that was too far back to reach. Could she even call them that after putting them through so much danger?

AHA. PRINCESS CELESTIA IS FAMILY, SHE'S THE ROYAL FAMILY. YOU GOT THE SEAL FROM THE ROYAL FAMILY FIRST AND YOU'RE LIKE WHAAAAT BUT I'M THE ROYAL FAMILY AREN'T I?

And of course you can call them that. Even more so than the average. That's what everyone who faces life threatening danger calls the people who were with them. Band of Brothers. Brothers in blood. The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb. The covenant of FRIENDSHIP. Family is the OG survival unit.

Honestly Sunset is such a disaster bi. They're both disaster bi's but in different ways. It's like math tho when you multiply two negatives, they negate each others disasterness and create a positive

Sunset you're really good at this relationship thing. Well I mean, you've had all kinds of ‘experience’ before but... I gotta ask... who?

Kinda surprised she's amazed at the magical feat rather than relieved he's okay. But she never had that same positive connection with Timber anyway, kind of like how she was with Wallflower.

Most Popular Multi-Chapter Story: hhmmm, ok, so i’m not even sure if it classifies as a multi-chapter haha but i think so cus i wrote them as a continuous story in mind haha. i posted the “chapters” separately but i like to imagine it was just one story, Safehouse Sleepovers (consists of Safehouse, Safehouse Singalongs, and Hot chocolate). it’s my only multi-chapter story (not even sure if it classifies as one haha) so de facto most popular one hahaha. oh and it’s essentially a canon compliant post ffh fic bout pj bonding in the parkers’ safehouse hehe. (oh but i guess maybe the newly named airports could also be considered multi-chapter, is 2 chaps enough to call it that? haha so dunno maybe i take back the only mc story thing haha. it’s still the more popular one tho cus airports i wrote before ffh even came out haha)

Favorite Story You Wrote: oof this is a hard one... ooohhh, i feeelll like i gotta, just gotta go with 5 + 1 gifts and Just Breathe cus they’re just so precious 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 but tbh i luv all of em. just as whole fics, they seem better to me haha

Story You Were Nervous to Post: ALL BRUHHH i mean im just not that confident with my works yet haha. buttt the one i was rlly the most nervous about was Home for the Holidays cus it was my first time writing with an actual person in mind to write it for haha. plus, it was the first fic i wrote after pj month so oof gods was i rusty by the time i wrote it hahaha haaysst. i think it was ok enough tho. plus they said it was good so yay. im just glad i actually did it haha.

How Do You Choose Your Titles: eh just whatevs i feel is catchy and is a good concise nice indicator of the plot heh. hhmm i feel like i usually come up with titles during the brainstorming process for the fic, like before actually writing it or while writing it.

How Many of Your Stories Are:

Complete: if im counting the “chapters” i mentioned earlier as one story each, then probs round 24. i say probs cus there’s some fics i wrote somewhere, where i feel like i finished em but i dont have access to them currently so im not 100 if it’s complete by my standards or nah haha

In-Progress: hhhhmmm im not sure if it’s write to call these in-progress. i’d rather call em unfinished, like i have 16 unfinished stories, or just written out story outlines. im not sure if i should call em in progress cus im not sure if i even still rlly plan to finish em, yknow? haha like they really are genuinely fun interesting n creative story ideas n plans thus far, i feel. but i just- lazy, yknow? haha i have to build up to writing a story for A LOONGG TIME haha

Coming Soon: hehehehe. technically it’s completed already, all i have to do is just make the post on tumblr hehe (as of the moment i wrote this post). im so excited for yalls to read The Bathroom hihihi <333

Upcoming Story You’re Most Excited to Write: oofff im not even sure if im actually gonna wind up writing these buuuut, dancing pj still seems so cute n pure n fun. and also, in addition to the countless other aus my annoying brain came up with on pj month, my brain annoyingly got even more fic ideas rolling around it now:

a moulin rouge au (peter’s the famous singer/dancer known as the spider-man who attracts men and women alike in the famous moulin rouge run by liz toomes with a gallery of other colorful rogues, heroes, villains, and just other sorts of attractive characters based on the comicbooks of old. mj is a young new budding writer looking to gain world experience to write about. she winds up in the moulin rouge, meets the infamous spider-man and gets to know the kind man behind the alluring and mysterious mask. im imagining tom’s lsb, laura’s hollywood, and z’s halloween euphoria ep costume for the aesthetic im going for haha. im still torn on whether to keep the og ending or not hahahaha)

maybe a friends with benefits fic. where it’s not so angsty or full of drama. and genuinely just keeping it cool and chill til they inevitably just decide to actually get together/stay friends. it’s all up in the air and they’ll figure it out when they figure it out.

producers inspired, roommates au. the kdrama did the trope well and it made me want to see it applied to my two dorks 🥺🥺🥺🥺

lastly, a first time fic for our two dorky virgins hahaha. i kinda like the idea of them planning out their first time to the most minute of details and just the actual process of figuring out what they want to do n stuff haha just seems real cute to me 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

Do You Accept Prompts: hahahhaha look, i’m never one to say no ok? i mean, if i just straight up say no, im possibly saying no to potential ideas that are so inspiring i wind up writing it immediately. so yes, i’d like to say im willing to accept prompts. however, there is absolutely no guaranteed follow up and for that i’m sorry. i can just never know how i’ll react to an idea so there ya go. that’s my honest response haha.
