My theories about the Abstracted.

theories on the abstracted characters.

Wyler the Dog- Wyler was the leader of the group, who made sure everybody got their fair share of anything they had to share. He had the unstoppable urge to chop on Gangle’s ribbons. He was best friends with Stringy, who loved to play tag with him. After Stringy Abstracted, nobody was surprised he was next to go.

Stringy the Worm- Stringy was the “Jax” of the group, but the only ones he got along with were Kaufmo and Wyler. He loved to go for long walks around the Circus. He loved to tease Zooble and Jax when they appeared, but they only knew each other for two weeks before Stringy Abstracted due to wanting an Exit.

Chuckle the Clown- Chuckle was always in a bad mood after Sneezie abstracted. After that, they kept to themselves, with no exception. This is probably why they abstracted.

Blops The Dragon- Blops loved to draw pictures of her circus family. She taught Gangle how to draw, and also tried to teach Jax to. No luck. Her favorite color was purple, and she was the most selfish of the gang. She abstracted after coveting the freedom of those outside of the circus.

Sneezie the Clown- Kaufmo’s better half, she was best friends with Chuckle and Ragatha. She abstracted after accidentally getting into the Cellar, and went insane by witnessing the Abstractions.

Gooparella the Cyclops- Due to making a mess out of everything, with her goo getting everywhere, she kept convincing herself nobody liked her due to always making a mess and abstracted. One of Gangle’s spare Comedy Masks is still covered in the goo.

Flopette the Rabbit- She had terrible luck with pictures, with people always getting in the way. She abstracted way before Gangle, but she was way more unstable than her. Eventually, one of her nervous breakdowns abstracted her.

Queenie the Queen- Queenie and Kinger were the only members for so many years. After she abstracted was when the other members started showing up. Kinger refuses to go to his room anymore because he’ll see her X’d out picture and remember. She Abstracted due to wanting an exit.

Showtime One-Shot

(For @jetkielover, hopefully I did this like how you wanted...thanks for the idea really appreciate it!)

She gasped for air. Her chest was feeling tight. Her vision blurred. Despite barely being human, it seemed as though panic attacks were still as prevalent in the Circus as they were in the real world. Pomni took hold of herself. She fell into a corner of her room. It was the only place in her room where the word EXIT wasn’t written. She curled further and further into a ball. Why was she forbidden to remember things? Why isn’t she allowed to explore past the void? Was abstracting really that bad? What if Caine was lying to the members of the circus this whole time? What if that was the only to get out of there? What if…...

Almost as if he heard his name being called, Caine appeared within Pomni’s room.

“Greetings Pomni! How are you this fine day?” Silence was all he received. He shook his head as he continued to float closer to her.

“So um, I don’t want to put a damper on whatever it is you are up to. However, I have been receiving complaints from other members of the circus that you’re being a bit…...overdramatic. Do you think that you would be able to perhaps halt the theatrics and simply enjoy the circus for a little while?” Pomni stopped shaking. She looked up at the ringmaster, floating not too far from her. Theatrics?! Worrying about whether or not one would ever see their family again is considered being overdramatic?! She started chuckling, almost as if she had lost her mind.

“Oh, I am so sorry that my THEATRICS are getting in your way! It’s almost as if I forgot WHERE EXACTLY I AM! STUCK IN THIS CRAP HOLE OF A CIRCUS LED BY A NARCISITIC RINGMASTER WHO DOESN’T GIVE A RAT’S BUTT WHAT HAPPENS TO THE PEOPLE HERE!” Caine was shocked, and slightly annoyed at the tone Pomni now had towards him.

“Now wait just a minute missy! I do very much care about each one of my superstars! I want to ensure that you are all taken care of! That is a priority I have set to help with your stay here. Now, I understand that you arriving here wasn’t exactly easy-”

“EASY?! I WAS CHASED AROUND BY A GIANT CREATURE WHO CLEARLY DIDN’T HAVE THE BEST PLANS FOR ME!” Caine floated a little back from Pomni, as she arose and began to walk towards him.

“While that might have hindered you enjoying yourself here by just a smidge, there is still plenty for you to do during your stay!” Caine said, whilst trying to keep his cheery demeanor.

“YOU ACT AS IF THIS PLACE IS A FREAKING HOTEL! I CAN’T LEAVE CAINE! THAT’S ALL I WANT! THERE ISN’T ANYTHING THAT’S REAL HERE! I WANT SOMETHING THAT’S REAL! HONESTLY AT THIS POINT THE BETTER OPTION SEEMS TO BE ABSTRA-” She wasn’t allowed to finish.

“PLEASE DON’T SAY THAT!” Caine tackled her with a giant hug squeezing her as tight as he possibly could. Pomni just sat there in shock over what was happening.

“P-Please…don’t say that. I am sorry I can’t make this place more real for you, but know that I am trying my very hardest, to give you every sensation of reality I can. If there is anything I can add Pomni please tell me! Tell me how I can make this more realistic for you!” Pomni’s eyes began to water. She slowly returned the hug.

“Staying with me like this for a little while would be a good start…” Pomni whispered in a low and soft tone. Caine gave a gentle smile as he continued the hug. There was something special about this girl that for a while he wouldn’t understand. All he knew was that his digital heart would shatter into a million pieces if she abstracted. The truth was there was no complaints, Caine simply wanted an excuse to see how Pomni’s mental health was holding up. It turns out that he was right to check up on her. She needed someone there for her, and Caine was more than happy to fulfill the role. Why? He wasn’t sure, but right now that didn’t matter. All that mattered was calming down Pomni, a job he was able to accomplish today.

synopsis : three archons out of the seven has disappeared. the chief of each nation of Teyvat had gathered around to discuss what occurred and to find a possible solution together. one way out, the most desperate and absurd one, is the legend of an artifact that gives the opportunity to talk to Celestia directly. so the order is passed to the adventurers’ guild all around the world: support each adventurer who is brave enough to start looking for their sole hope.

disclaimer : we often insert two readers (one for geto and one for gojo) to explore both the relationships in the same universe, amongst the same cast in order to not repeat the same contexts over and over again. In this way, we can also explore the platonic side with the different characters. for this same reason, we usually give them names to use instead of repeating y/n.

main characters :

⟣ GOJO SATORU

cryo — catalyst

• Satoru grew up in a small orphanage in Mondstadt. He always loved adventures even as a young kid, so it was to no one’s surprise that he became an adventurer as soon as he got out of that place.

• His vision manifested itself when he was just eight years old.

• He doesn’t feel particularly attached to Mondstadt and its people, being aware that deep down his roots lie somewhere else.

• Every night, he has troubles sleeping. This happens because his dreams seems to center around a very specific scenario, wherein a city is being destroyed amidst the screams of its inhabitants running away from the rubble in panic.

• When he first sees the Adventurers’ Guild flier, it happens in the middle of one of his many journeys. Of course, he didn’t need to think twice before grabbing the flying paper and shoving it inside his bag.

⟣ YURIKO

hydro — bow ; paired with gojo

• Yuriko was born and raised in Mondstadt. She is passionate about Teyvat’s history, notably about its legends and myths way long before Celestia took over. For this very reason, she likes to study ancient runes and languages.

• An introvert. That doesn’t mean she will sit prettily and follow orders from other people— no, she is incredibly stubborn when it comes to situations she deems worthy. This side of her reflects also in her friendships, showing a more caring side to the people she loves.

• Yuriko tends to instruct the others, along with Geto, about the route they should explore, easily getting along with him due to their similar personalities. She's seen as leader-like by the others thanks to her habit of giving valuable advices or to call the others back onto their mistakes.

• Her relationship with Gojo starts with lots of head butting. Satoru’s continuous jokes and teasing to get a reaction out of her are the cause of her daily stress. She hates his lack of collaboration, or his requests to spend more time in the city they’re currently at instead of thinking about the ongoing mission. With time Gojo will be the first one to fall for her, being able to discover Yuriko’s caring and selfless personality.

• She is not weak to his extravagant ways, often putting aside the heavy mask of the rigid, responsible person she is forced to wear.

⟣ GETO SUGURU

electro — claymore

• Geto comes from a small village— Konda Village, precisely. His parents are humble farmers.

• In the village he was known as the ‘golden boy’ for his kindness and altruistic behavior. When he received his electro vision, everyone thought that the mighty Raiden Shogun blessed him.

• During his teenage years, he decided to join a group of samurai which goal was traveling around Inazuma to help the next person. Unfortunately it didn’t last long.

• When their Archon disappears, the group of samurai he was a part of begins to succumb to darkness in order to survive. From that point onwards, Suguru starts his independent journey.

• But it really isn’t a secret how the shift affected him. So much, that he begins to doubt the powers of the Archons.

• When Suguru learns about the adventure in Mondstadt, he accepts it with the hope to find himself again.

⟣ MARJA

anemo — polearm ; paired with geto

• Marja comes from Fontaine. She is not a noble, but her parents are two famous lawyers in the whole country, which contributed in growing her dream to be just like them. It was thanks to them that she departs for this mission.

• She chose the Mondstadt expedition because in her eyes they are more laid-back with the rules and regulations.

• To no one’s surprise, she is an ambivert: she is easy to adapt to any situation at hand. Overall her personality is on the bubbly side, even childish at times. That doesn’t mean, though, that she isn’t capable of being serious and responsible.

• Thanks to her knowledge and understanding of the rules of every nation’s codex, she is tasked with getting the group out of trouble if needed. Marja uses her skills to obtain whatever she wants, able to talk for hours just to confuse the person she’s talking with.

• She has a crush for Geto, born from his responsible side (which she lacks in) and the way he takes care of the group. Often times she’s on the receiving end of advices from him, other times it is his scoldings whenever she makes mistakes. Another scenario that happened is when her decisions tends to backfire and worsen up the situation.

⟣ NANAMI KENTO

geo — sword

• Nanami’s family is originally from Mondstadt. His surname well-known in the city because of their past as hunters.

• His parents ended the tradition shortly after having him. Nowadays they run a bakery shop together, located in the city centre.

• Normally he wields a sword, but truth to be told, he holds to his heart a machete gifted by his grandfather.

• His parents has always been loving and supportive of him since he was a child, and they are the main reason he ended up studying aetiology at Sumeru’s Akademiya. Nanami belongs to the Vahumana Darshan. He wants to make his parents proud, but deep down he longs for a simple life running the bakery shop they own.

• When Nanami hears about the expedition, he leaves the studies behind to protect his friends that are taking part of this journey— one of them is Haibara.

⟣ IEIRI SHOKO

dendro — catalyst

• She was born and raised in Mondstadt. The majority of her family studied at Sumeru’s Akademiya, so it was only a matter of time until she enrolled too— she’s currently pursuing the Spantamad Darshan, elementalism.

• Don’t get her wrong, she’s happy her life is already planned by her parents. Every time her teacher asked her what she wanted to be when grown up, she would always shut her mind and say nothing.

• Still, when Haibara asked her to accompany him in this absurd mission, she couldn’t refuse. It’s not really a secret how Shoko has a soft spot for him.

• Again, she’s quite content with her life overall, yet when Haibara comes and explains the mission, she acts on her impulses. It would’ve been a waste to not take this chance. This opportunity served right in front of her.

• And thank the Archons she embarked on this journey, for every time the group would end up fighting over the smallest thing, she would be the one to bring back peace.

⟣ HAIBARA YUU

pyro — polearm

• Haibara is actually from Liyue, but ever since he was a baby he would travel together with his grandparents in their commercial trips to the neighboring nations. That’s the reason behind his current staying at Wangshu Inn.

• Even to these days he would accompany his grandpa around. Given his grandpa’s elderly age, nowadays the trips focus primarily around Mondstadt.

• It was thanks to these trips that he met and befriended both Nanami and Yuriko. Because of his relatively closeness with the border, their meetings had increased.

• Once he received his pyro vision, he re-discovered his passion and deep love for traveling. Especially when he get to help the people he meets on his path.

• He joins the expedition as a ‘first aid’ specialist. Just in case something would go wrong (he hopes it doesn’t).

⟣ AMANAI RIKO

hydro — catalyst

• Riko is the only daughter of the Amanai family, the one who is in charge of the Church of Favonius. Raised under a bell jar, she is very well mannered thanks to the private classes and the high level of education her parents provided her with. As expected from the only Amanai heir.

• It is told with greatest pride by her parents, that one day, amidst the usual afternoon mass, Riko got possessed by what was left of an old Archon who was able to spoke through her body. From that day on, her parents and the whole church believe that she is blessed— she’s the chosen one.

• However loved and kind she is, Riko hides a rebellious attitude, wanting to go explore the world instead of singing choir music. For this very reason, she ends up begging the head of the Adventurers’ Guild, Masamichi Yaga, to be part of the expedition.

• Needless to say, she joins it and successfully runs away from her family.

• Riko is the youngest one of the group. That’s also thanks to her fiery personality and endless energy, aside from the enthusiasm of finally achieving her dream. Still, even with such personality, she tends to listen those she deems responsible in the group— namely Shoko and Yuriko.

Gangle, Ragatha & Zooble's reaction to their s/o abstracting

warning(s): angst, hurt no comfort, self-blame, "death" of the reader, implied "death"/abstraction of other characters note(s): There's nothing incredibly heavy or detailed, just tread carefully if "death" is something you are sensitive to. A/N: Someone on AO3 wanted the rest of the gang so I tried my best. I can't really get a good feel for Zooble since there's so little we saw of them, so it's not the best. I'm not too proud of it but didn't wanna leave them out. here's a link to my "Abstracted" playlist on Spotify

Gangle

Gangle knew something was wrong but didn’t know what, she’s clingier than normal but she’s scared to leave you completely alone. Even during Caine’s little activities, she pairs up with you. Unfortunately, Caine’s adventures have a knack for going astray, forcing you to separate.

She’s not there when it happens and even though you can’t voice it your grateful she’s not.

You had a feeling this could happen one day and had gone to extra lengths to leave her a bunch of letters, a box she knew of but was kept under lock and key. Filled with all your thoughts and fond memories, sweet words, and praise for her to look back on when she was missing you or questioning the world around her. Anything you could think of to write down, you wrote to ease her future of missing you.

All her daily concerns leave her mind when they find you, or what’s left of you. Gangle lets herself get hurt trying to talk to you, as if it could undo the abstraction, even despite the others warning her to stay away.

She’s formed such a tightly-knit bond with you, unlike the others. You listen to her ramble for hours about the animes she loves, you never judge her for her drawings and you even help her when she writes out fanfiction or makes little OCs. You’re her partner, she loves you.

It’s a fine line that she’s riding on with this whole thing. Step back and let Caine toss you into the cellar, be alone again, nobody could replace you. Or to remain at your side and just…fall into abstraction with you…

Ragatha

Abstraction feels inevitable to her, like a game that tests how long you can wait it out if you can wait it out. Just because she knows it’s coming doesn’t make it hurt any less when it happens to you.

The optimistic shtick goes out the window, no matter how long she’s been preparing for this or how hard she’s tried to not let it affect her, it hits her hard.

Even with you by her side, this place has taken its toll on her, but you being with her made the days just a tad more bearable to trudge through. She won’t sugarcoat it and say you made them better, but you were there for her and it’s something she had to look forward to.

Ragatha gets hurt by you, but not nearly as bad as her encounter with Kaufmo. Similarly to Gangle she tries to talk to you but it’s mostly for herself, spouting off how you weren’t supposed to abstract before her. How it was unfair of you to leave her like this, it’s a completely different side of her that the others have never seen.

Similarly to Gangle, it’s a fine line on this being what tips her off. She’s been stuck here on her own long before you showed up, she can do it again but it’s the question of if she wants to. Ragatha knows how long she’s been here, and how Kinger’s been here even longer—the hope of an exit has long since left her mind.

Or maybe, just maybe, you had the right idea—abstraction was a way out. Maybe it wouldn’t take her back to her old life, maybe it was just a death sentence. Maybe it’s just the hysteria getting to her, who knows?

Zooble

Zooble is an observer, words of comfort aren’t something they are great with—but boy do they wish they were, they knew something was up with you as of late but were hesitant to bring it up in a way that wouldn’t pressure you.

Nobody quite knows what Zooble is thinking on any given day (other than a firm “fuck off” mentality), but nobody especially knows what they are thinking when you abstract.

Unlike the others, Zooble doesn’t immediately react. There’s no crying, yelling, or trying to approach or talk to you, they just stand there lost and confused. Similarly to Pomni, they feel like they failed you a bit.

They know they are grouchy and seem standoffish, but that never deterred you before—you were patient with them, even though they didn’t open up about their emotions like you. Did they miss something? Did they miss it because they didn’t join in on Caine’s little stupid games and see how you were suffering?

Similarly to Jax, they aren’t quite the same afterward, Zooble is even more irritable and closed off than normal. A few others are worried but like with Jax, they try not to hold it against them. Zooble’s grieving and it’s worrying how—unaffected—they seem.

Though in privacy Zooble is a mess, from then on mention of you around Zooble is taboo. Zooble isn’t an impulsive person but when you’re mentioned in their presence they’ve been known to act out—they apologize later though, properly. (not half-assed like Jax does)
