i love apollo and i love his ominous implying that he’s going to take advantage of his sick leave go do something deeply illegal to solve (and avenge) clay’s murder, but the way that got executed ingame was that he didn’t do anything. they. they cut off his plot thread entirely. because they needed to write him out so that nick could take the spotlight. even though it’s apollo’s trilogy. “it’s your story now apollo” MY ASS jkaksjdkjd

i think phoenix returning to law is fun and has a lot of potential, im very fond of his cute lil suit and his dlc case. but the final case? the final fucking case??? phoenix should have just weirdgirled. or better yet- peaced out of the main plot to go on a rage fueled excursion to the space center to FUCKING KILL AURA for holding his fucking daughter hostage. also miles im glad you’re back but wh. why are you prosecuting this case. why would aura choose you of all people. how much do you know anyway

aa5-3 is lowkey bullshit in the fact that "the end justifies the means" would absolutely be taught by Phoenix to Athena.

Just thinking about the fact that Phoenix literally falsified evidence to get Kristoph jailed. He's done some sketchy ass things to help his cases. Sometimes, it's how he got results, aka the reason why people during the Dark Age of Law did sketchy ass things.

And the thing is? Mia Fey has used underhand techniques! In Turnabout Sisters, guess who literally blackmailed Redd White into confessing? (Ofc he deserved it but the principle is still there!).

Obviously, Prof. Means was morally wrong in how he was using that methodology, but that lesson just wasn't really effective to me. It's in the context of the Dark Age of Law, but "the end doesn't justify the means" thing doesn't work in Ace Attorney in the way they probably intended it.

The lawyers literally break into places, steal things for evidence, etc etc. Hell, even prosecutors do if we think about aai.

I get the point, but idk. I liked aa5-3 but that case also somehow affected my general enjoyment of dual destinies/Dark Age of Law.

I legit think that the way that ‘Dual Destinies’ utilizes it’s nonlinear episode order is really neat and well-thought of! Like, it just gets so much more out of it. Not just, like, the whole building up the mystery of ‘ooooooh why is Apollo an Angsty Guy in a Coat’ thingy. But more of, like, when ‘the Cosmic Turnabout’ starts and you realize that you’re ‘catching up’ with the timeline and suddenly the entire case has this extra layer of Suspense around it. Like, ‘let the audience know that a Bomb is going to Explode soon’ is almost literally the textbook definition of suspense!

But then also, as the trial keeps going the player might put that whole 'bomb' thing to the side to focus on the immediate case-solving so when it suddenly comes back it is both shocking and expected at the same time!

And when the Trial starts and you see Apollo with the bandaged eye and… first and foremost it makes it totally unambiguous that we’re ‘catching up’ with the Present of case 1. Like, some non-linear AA games can make it hard to keep up with what events happen in what order - but here it is immediately visually obvious that we are almost back to the present. But also, it’s the misdirection. How the player was just left to assume that Apollo’s eyepatch is just another injury from the explosion and suddenly the game just quickly nonchalantly establishes that no, this is a separate thing. And now, we’ve got another mystery on our hands that we didn’t even consider at first!

And it also plays very well emotionally with Case 3, ‘Turnabout Academy’, and the Athena-Juniper drama. Because, like, the whole point is that Athena remembers Juniper as this soft-spoken little sweetheart from her childhood and then they meet in Lawyer High School and she’s all cold and professional. And we the players don’t get to experience Athena and Juniper’s childhood…. But we do get to see a lot of her in the flash-forwards Case 1, where she is acting like her old self again.

So while on one hand the Player knows some things about Juniper’s different behavior that Athena does not (namely, that it’s a temporary thing and they'll be back to being close friends sooner or layer) - we also feel Athena’s confusion and distress on a much more personal level. Even though we know this is a flashback case, it does kinda feel like our Ol’ Buddy Junie is suddenly being cold to us, too!

And for the Ace Attorney game that tries to be all about emotions… I think these are pretty neat!

after a year postponing it, i finally drew trucy and pearls in casual outfits !! 🩷🩵

as always, i redrew the original 2021 drawings i did lmao i don't have much to say about these drawings, i just did what i did with all the drawings i redrew last year: change their outfits so they aren't wearing 2020core clothes(??). nothing against it, but trucy's old outfit reminds me a lot of that era of the internet and i don't like it anymore! 😋

i think this represents more my interpretations of them tbh.. trucy would wear childish and colorful clothes, but wouldn't wear something too extravagant or alternative (i don't think phoenix could afford buying her too expensive clothes either lol! so she'd just diy her own stuff)— for pearl, i've always thought she'd be a very feminine girl but she'd also like to wear comfy clothes, so the maxiskirt felt like the right choice for her outfit... i also used my pearls redesign because 1) im not a fan of the aa5 hairstyle and 2) she looks like a 10 year old even though she's like. 17-18 in the last games, so yeah i wanted to make her look her age <3 — anywayyy that's all, i hope you like it lo!!!

and …. a thousand of trucy alt hair/outfits because im insane and i couldn’t decide which one i liked better. lol
