I've been questioning lately if I'm on the ace spectrum. The only problem is that romantically, I am straight. I personally identify right now as heteroromantic asexual. I might be demi, I might be gray-ace, but currently I have yet to experience sexual attraction to other people at all.

But I've seen a lot of the discourse online about how cishet aces aren't ACTUALLY part of the community because they're romantic straight still.

But like, I feel half straight and half not, because asexuality definitely isn't straight. So I guess what I'm asking is, would someone like me be welcome here? Would I be part of the ace and LGBTQIA+ community even though I'm a cis female who is heterromantic?

saying this as a person who is queer in several other ways besides being acespec: you are queer. you belong in the lgbtq+ community, and you are a valued part of it.

there is more to being lgbtq+ than having same gender attraction. if people give you shit for being acehet in queer spaces, they are being aphobic. but there will always be people who will support and protect you there too.

and of course, no matter what, you will always be welcome in ace spaces. you're ace! you're safe here. 💜

Also cishet aspec people have the right to not consider themselves queer as individuals and that doesn’t mean that being aspec doesn’t inherently make you queer socially/technically.

I know older bi people who identify as bisexual and don’t consider themselves part of the community. That doesn’t mean that bi people aren’t inherently queer or part of the community. Some nonbinary people don’t identify as trans, some do. Some intersex people consider themselves part of the community, some don’t. There are straight trans people who don’t see themselves as queer.

You internet rotten brained people need to relearn the value of the concept of diversity. And also get through your thick skull that validity is not some thing that only ONE (1) group of people/form of oppression/whatever can have at a time
