Something to be said about companies wanting to make merch clothes that are "more available" to their fans by which they mean "they just look like regular fucking clothes but if you squint really hard and do your best to reach you can see a hint of a fandom reference in there so no one knows you like a thing and you can pretend to be normal and hobbyless" and I for one think they should go back to slapping a screenshot of a video game right in the middle of a t-shirt

a send off to ah.

i remember years ago when a gaming group I didn’t really watch disbanded. i remember thinking at the time “I wonder if achievement hunter will ever end”. It was my worst nightmare.

And here we are. Here we finally are.

I’ve kept my distance from ah since last year when a lot of things got dug up from the past. And I’m not going to sit here now and pretend those skeletons didn’t and still do exist. Nor will I ignore the harm they caused.

But as ah said “you can do better”, and thankfully from their current/former now? employees’ point of views, it seems like they did by the end. Even if that can’t undo their past mistakes.

But no matter what, I still can’t overstate the importance this group had on me. I found ah in middle school from a random tumblr post and it quickly became my biggest support. I struggled in middle/high school from being heavily introverted and struggling with anxiety.

But all I’d have to remember was that there was going to be Minecraft on fridays. VS on tuesdays. GTA on mondays. As embarrassing as it sounds, it really kept me going.

There was a long stretch of my life where I didn’t go a single day without watching some form of their content.

I remember so vividly having one of the worst days of my life as a 14 year old, crying my eyes out and thinking the world was going to end. Then the rainbow 6 let’s play of jack laughing at Gavin throwing a grenade at himself came out: Suddenly I was crying of laughter. Their content did that for me when nothing else could.

And I have hundreds of memories just like that.

It goes without saying there’s been a lot of downs as an achievement hunter fan. And honestly I don’t even want to go into detail because we all know some of the worst.

But to grow from a 13 year old to a 24 year old through their content, I can’t not at least recognize something that had such an effect on me for almost half of my life.

A part of me is surprised I am so sad by the news considering how long it has seemingly been on the horizon. But I also can’t wipe their importance from my life. And though I rarely watched their content over the last year, still knowing it is gone hurts.

So I have handled this like any normal person would, i bought the piece of retired merch I never was able to get off eBay to remember them by, and wrote this way too wordy and sentimental post.

And with that, thanks for a lot achievement hunter. 💚🖤

Alright. Gonna start with some advice. Maybe not good advice either, but advice nonetheless.

If there's any RT merch you've ever thought you might've wanted, get it. Get it now. Figures? Shirts? Hats? Pins? Get it. Don't wait for the liquidation sale, I was on the RT store @ 2pm yesterday and bought some shit that was sold out by 5pm. Raid the RT store, raid Amazon, raid HotTopic, raid fuckin WalMart. You will NEVER get the chance to buy this merch again, and what's in circulation NOW is likely what will forever be in circulation- and it'll only get more expensive next year when RT's dissolved. Buy it, buy it, buy it. Because you don't wanna regret never having got it later.

Content! If there's a song, Achievement Hunter episode, series, etc that's ever made you laugh, download it. Download the RageQuit Impossible Game series. Download the entire RvB series. Download RWBY. Download the entire Achievement Hunter Minecraft Let's Play series. Download Falling Towards the Sky. WB has a long history burying content that it owns and making sure people can never find it again. In 20 years, you don't wanna go looking across YouTube just to find out that "SWISS FUCKING CHEESE!" or "I WENT TO PUBLIC SCHOOL!" has been deleted. To find out BMBLB or Boop has been scrubbed off Spotify. Download if, keep it in a hard drive somewhere, and maybe in 2051 you can still sit down with a friend and watch every episode of XRay and Vav without worrying about which website is still hosting it.

Keep the community. I've met some of my best and oldest friends through RT. Don't let those ties break. Find something else to get into, but maintain those friendships.

This sucks, but we can make it suck a little less with friends!

its crazy the things that stick with you, i used to always build a tower of pimps in my minecraft worlds. just to have a little piece of achievement hunter with me no matter where i was. they were such a huge part of my childhood, and gave me a safe haven from my really poor family life. unfortunately i lost the top habit when covid happened, but they still live on with me with the stupid amount of merch i own. i wish everyone involved with new projects the best of luck, and i thank them all so very deeply for helping me in my darkest times.

Might talk more about this later but I would really like to hear what people mean when they talk about 'crwby' and say things like 'I support crwby, not RT' and 'don't pirate rwby because crwby says not to,' and 'rwby is separate/different than RT.'

Like first of all, please tell me how you are absolutely certain that your money is exclusively going towards supporting rwby and nothing else and please explain to me how you know for sure that supporting rwby doesn't prop up RT.

Second of all, what the hell do you guys mean by 'crwby?' Are you counting Miles Luna who was the head writer for animation at RT for years and has a history of misogyny? Are you counting the several Rooster Teeth founders who have worked on rwby? Are you counting Barbara Dunkelman who was specifically named by someone talking about the bad conditions at Rooster Teeth who was like, head of PR or something? Do they count as 'part of Rooster Teeth' if they've also worked on things like Achievement Hunter, Gen:Lock, the Internet Box, or other RT shows? Do people count Shane Newville as part of crwby? Are you counting Kdin who liked some of my posts talking about pirating rwby, or are you only talking about that one ex-employee who said to watch rwby on crunchyroll? Are you talking about the numerous employees who came out about mistreatment or are you only talking about the employees who were like 'idk I like it at RT?' Are you counting people like Gray Haddock or Ryan Haywood or are you only counting the former cast that make rwby look good? Do you guys think none of the people who work on rwby actually work at RT and it's just like a completely separate thing entirely? Do you think people are either RT workers or rwby workers instead of both RT workers and rwby workers? Do you just black out when the RT logo flashes before every episode of rwby starts? Do you guys think that Miles Luna did his work as the head of animation whilst secretly plotting RT's downfall and orchestrating how rwby could come out on top like he's Morgana plotting the death of Uther from inside the walls of Camelot? Do you guys think buying bumbleby merchandise from the official Rooster Teeth website is somehow not helping RT? Do you guys think the rwby writers were like, angry and unwilling when RT used the bees to make merch sales, and Barbara and Arryn were forced to do smiling photoshoots of them in sixty dollar sweaters on the company website?

I mean maybe I just don't understand, but to me it's very much so giving 'I don't support JKR, I just support Harry Potter.'

the rooster teeth thing just hit me.

i wasn't surprised when i first heard the news. i was likely subconsciously expecting it. especially seeing how easily sugar pine 7 crumbled. then watching achievement hunter split and become two new sub-channels.

(not to mention the ryan thing, which i think rt + ah never recovered from.)

i knew it was coming.

but after seeing geoff on the livestream today, breaking down and underlining the fact that it's been 21 years. i just- yeah.

i still have vivid memories from when i lived in malaga, after i finally escaped my dad's abuse and life became a little bit more simpler and relaxed, the friday minecraft let's plays were always playing on my xbox. i remember being worried about my xbox live subscription running out, specifically because my xbox became a youtube machine (an achievement hunter machine, specifically.)

the amount of comfort and reassurance the stability of the ah schedule gave me in those times can't be highlighted enough.

i still have my red vs blue tshirt. my first rooster teeth merch. which is now more of a gray vs gray tshirt, since all the color faded out of the print from being worn and washed so many times.

when michael and gavin came together again recently to finish up bunnyman, and the community immediately reignited, i had so much hope. i thought this would be a sign that ah could pick up the pieces of a crumbling channel by going back to basics. but i guess it wasn't meant to be.

i will never forget all the memories
