Unhealthy Dietary Habits: The consumption of fiery spices, greasy and fried delicacies, stimulating caffeine, carbonated beverages, and citrus fruits fuels the production of excess acid.
Eating Patterns: The timing and quantity of meals play a significant role. Large portions, rapid eating, and late-night indulgence disrupt the delicate balance of digestion, fostering hyperacidity.
Stress and Lifestyle Factors: The relentless grip of chronic stress, lack of restful sleep, and the insidious habit of smoking intensify the symptoms of acid reflux.
Medication Impact: Certain medications like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), aspirin, and specific antibiotics can incite irritation in the stomach lining, provoking heightened acid production.

The Benefits and Risks of Acid Toning in Your Skincare Routine
In recent years, acid toning has become a popular step in many people's skincare routines. It involves using a chemical exfoliant in the form of a toner or serum to help remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and promote a more radiant complexion. While acid toning can be an effective way to improve the look and feel of your skin, it's important to understand the potential benefits and risks before incorporating this step into your routine.
The Benefits of Acid Toning
One of the main benefits of acid toning is that it can help exfoliate your skin without the need for physical scrubbing. This is especially beneficial for those with sensitive skin, as physical exfoliation can be too harsh and cause irritation. Acid toning can also help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as improve skin texture and tone.
Another benefit of acid toning is that it can help to unclog pores and prevent acne breakouts. This is because the acids used in acid toners can penetrate the skin and dissolve excess oil and debris that can contribute to clogged pores. Additionally, some acids like salicylic acid have anti-inflammatory properties that can help to reduce redness and swelling associated with acne.
The Risks of Acid Toning
While acid toning can be an effective way to improve your skin's appearance, it's important to be aware of the potential risks. One risk of acid toning is that it can cause skin irritation, especially if you have sensitive skin. This can manifest as redness, burning, or itching. It's important to start slowly with acid toning and gradually increase frequency and concentration over time to avoid over-exfoliating the skin.
Another risk of acid toning is that it can make your skin more sensitive to the sun. This is because the acids used in acid toners can make the skin more susceptible to damage from UV rays. It's important to always use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher when using acid toners and to avoid prolonged sun exposure.
Skin care tip:
After acid toning, you can use facial massager to sooth your face skin.

Acid toning can be an effective way to improve the look and feel of your skin, but it's important to understand the potential benefits and risks before incorporating this step into your routine. Always start slowly with acid toning, and pay close attention to how your skin reacts. If you experience any irritation or discomfort, reduce the frequency or concentration of the acid toner, or discontinue use altogether. With proper use and care, acid toning can be a great addition to your skincare routine.

General Defence
Some challenges call for a personal approach, while others are easily tackled with more generic tactics. Viral infection is a universal threat, and although the best defences are antivirals designed to tackle particular strains, this can take time and viruses can evolve at speed. Therefore it’s essential to have a suite of broad antivirals to keep rising threats at bay. Factors on the surface of viral envelopes [their outer wrapping] are a potential target for such drugs, but it‘s proven hard to pinpoint new elements to focus on. A new approach responds to the subtle change in acidity caused by viral infection, with pH-sensitive nanoprobes (yellow), which bind to viral surfaces (orange) only at certain pH levels. The result is the breakdown of the viral envelope, reducing the harm a range of viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, can cause, and providing an approach that could provide a first line of defence against emerging viruses.
