I am starting a new Animal Crossing New Horizons island and I will be cataloguing it here

Basically I'll be updating my day to day life on the island and the happenings n such, don't let me forget to do this.

Day 1.

First up, I made my name and birthday accurate to reality, Damian and 5/19

My little guy looks like this to start out

And I'm going with seasons that match my current hemisphere, I live in America, so Northern, Southern sounds fun but I'll be lame and boring and normal

This is the island I went with

Okay heres my starting villagers, Plucky and Sheldon

They're okay.

My starting fruit is Pears

I put my house here, I might change it later on, or maybe I'll build around what I've placed when I get to that point

I kinda just let the villagers be where they wanted and I didn't really change much

I then did all the tutorial stuff and chuckled slightly at the "pear?" Before you're asked to gather them, also pre-emptively grabbed some weeds and stones and extra sticks

Now we're having our little bonfire thing and now onto naming our island

I went with the name "Skeleton"

And they went with that one, though I would think it'd be funny if they randomly chose one of the other names just to fuck with you lol

Now how this will work from now on is that every new day I'll create a new post and reblog it with every interesting thing that happens, I'll also be tagging this so you can avoid it if you want to (this is loser behavior)

And that ends this beginning post as the game now switches into real time and then which I'll update throughout the day 👍♥️

Preview:

Out of the corner of his eye in the bathroom mirror, he spots a figure. Startled, he turns to take a better look, but it’s gone. Shrugging it off, he finishes up in the bathroom. He swears he sees it again as he leaves.

This is the first time out of many today he will see It.

When Danny woke up, it was like any other day. Until his parents ecstatically burst into the kitchen from their lab.

“It’s done!” Maddie exclaims enthusiastically. “It just needs to be turned on.”

Danny unfortunately knew the ‘it’ they were talking about. The portal has been something they’ve been working on since their college days; their biggest passion. While Danny has his doubts about the whole idea of ghosts and the ‘Ghost Zone’, he can’t help but hope it was true. Just so all his parent’s hard work wouldn’t be for nothing. When the portal inevitably fails, their life’s work gone down the drain, he can’t imagine the state it would leave his parents in. Frankly, he doesn’t want to see it.

“We’re going to turn it on after your school day, so you two can’t miss this point in scientific history! We’ll order pizza!” Jack grins.

Jazz and Danny share weak, pained, smiles. Either it works or it doesn’t, but either result will end in change to the family.

Danny finishes up his cereal and goes to brush his teeth.

The youngest Fenton was on edge the entire way to school. He kept seeing It. He must be going crazy. That or his parents must actually be true about ghosts and one has decided to haunt him for whatever reason. Danny's going with the former option for now.

Danny’s two friends, Tucker and Sam, notice something up with their friend. He has been jumpy all day, and noticeably looking over his shoulder every few seconds. At first, they thought he was worried about the portal being completed. After all, that’s a big deal for his family; but it doesn’t make sense for him to act like someone is watching his every move. So, the two decide to confront him at lunch.

“Okay, what’s making you so paranoid?” Sam bluntly asks.

“O-oh, it’s, um… nothing,” Danny mumbles into his hand, avoiding eye contact.

“Come on, man. It’s not ‘nothing’,” Tucker says, calling out Danny on his bluff. Sam nods along.

“Look, I-” Danny licks his lips, “I don’t want you to think I’m crazy,” Danny finally answers, looking down.

“What is it?” Sam questions, staring down Danny.

“It’s just… I uh, keep seeing this figure, everywhere,” Danny replies while fidgeting with his hands. “It’s always the same. Snow white hair, glowing green eyes…” he drifts off.

Sam and Tucker share a look, stumped. They were expecting something like Dash feeling more irritated today and wanting to take it out on Danny more than usual; not this.

“This is why I didn’t want to tell you,” Danny groans. “Just… forget I said anything. I’m probably just tired, or am more stressed out about the portal than I thought and it’s coming out in the form of hallucinations.”

With that, the topic is dropped. All three members of the trio have a gut feeling that it’s much more than that, though.

It gradually stopped showing up over the course of the day. For a full hour Danny didn’t have to worry about it and could just focus on homework and enjoy the ordered pizza.

Then it was time for everyone to head down to the lab for the turning on of the portal.

Danny got a good look at It this time.

Instead of disappearing when trying to get a better look, like all the other times; this time it lingered. It has a black jumpsuit with white gloves and boots, and has a slight glowing aura. It looks… familiar… But he can’t put his finger on it.

It stays and watches Danny’s parents turn on the portal with a blank look.

It’s gone when giddily grins turn into disappointed frowns.

The portal failed.

It’s later in the night, and Danny hasn’t seen It since the failed attempt at turning on the portal.

Jazz has gone out to have a sleepover with friends, and his parents went to go to mope… somewhere. Probably camping to keep their mind off of their failure. Either way, Danny has been left home alone, so he invites Sam and Tucker over.

“You good? You seem more relaxed; not seeing the figure anymore?” Tucker inquires.

“Yeah, last I saw it was down when my parents tried to turn on the portal,” Danny answers. “Guess it was just stress-induced hallucinations.”

“Maybe it was a wraith for your parents' hopes and dreams,” Sam jokes.

Danny and Tucker look at Sam, not getting the joke.

“What’s a wraith?” Tucker finally asks.

Sam sighs, “You guys are lame. Jokes aren’t funny if you have to explain them. But a wraith is a ghost-like image of someone seen before or after death.”

“Oh, I think I heard my parents mention those a couple times, now that I think about it,” Danny recalls.

They continue to talk until they grow bored. Sam eventually brings up the idea of going down and looking at the portal; to take some cool pictures and such.

Danny shrugs, not seeing the harm and they head down.

“You should get in!” Sam suggests, lowering her camera.

Danny swears he can see glowing toxic green eyes staring at him from the portal.

“I don’t know…”

“C’mon dude, I think it’d be cool,” Tucker tags on, teaming up with Sam.

“Don’t let me down, Danny,” Sam jokingly adds.

“Okay, fine.” Danny won’t let some paranoia ruin the mood.

“Put on your suit! It’ll add to the sci-fi aesthetic,” Sam says while grabbing and shoving his suit into his hands.

Danny complies and pulls the suit on over his clothes, Sam making sure to take plenty of pictures while doing so. Before Danny can enter the portal, Sam stops him and tears the sticker of his dad’s face off his chest.

“I’m not letting this ruin the photo,” Sam comments, throwing the sticker in the garbage. “Now get in there!”

Danny traces the wall of the dark portal with his hand. He feels eyes on him from every angle.

“Is this far enough?” Danny asks Sam.

“A bit farther!” Sam eggs on.

So Danny continues on when he hears a click. He looks towards the source of the sound to find that he has clicked an on button that’s inside the portal!

The last thing Danny sees before being blinded with pain is his reflection in the button getting replaced with It, who’s looking away as if it can’t watch.

Danny manages to stumble out of the portal a couple minutes later. 

Blurry vision bleeding away, he looks to find Sam and Tucker on the defensive… to him.

“Sam, Tuck… what-”

“Who are you? Where’s Danny!?” Sam demands.

“Wh- RIght here?? I’m Danny??” Danny replies confusedly.

“Yeah I don’t think you’re tricking anyone with that,” Tucker says, cowering further behind Sam.

“But-” Danny starts, but then he catches his reflection in the corner of his eye. 

He rushes toward the mirror and stares in horror. He waves his arms to make sure that it is indeed his reflection, and he pulls his bangs down over his eyes to make sure that the colour palette is the same as the one in the glass. He looks down at his wrongly coloured gloves, and with shaky hands pinches himself. Real. 

He looks back up and just stares at his reflection. His snow white hair and glowing green eyes. The one who has been haunting him all day. No wonder it was familiar- It was him.

Maybe Sam wasn’t too far off about the whole wraith thing. Maybe she was just wrong about what, but Danny supposes ‘who’ now, it was for.

it’s so hard to see bc the 2ds screenshot quality is absolute ass + the screen is cracked so badly but i would fully die for benjamin animalcrossing. FULLY.

game is still in early release on steam, but it's pretty functional in this state

unless you're an ultra gamer w a high-refresh monitor, the lack of vsync and framecap might drive you batty. they also need to optimize something about the simulation, it gets laggy at a (what i consider) a low pop threshold. like yes realistically you'll be managing at most 200 beavers but the map can hold so much more

none of these are dealbreakers, highly recommend this game for people who don't find value in the removed nature of regular city builders but are puzzle solvers at heart

Things that I’d love in an ACNH update or a new AC game

Obviously there won’t be any more updates for New Horizons, but I think these would be cool if there were.

- An NPC who makes mini dinosaur figures when you give them fossils. It could be like Flick and CJ where you have to give a certain number of parts of whichever figure you want. Or you could have to give 1 of each part of the dinosaur you want. Or you could give a certain amount of unassessed fossils and get a random figure, kind of like how Katrina sends random items if you cleanse bad luck.

- More holidays! Valentine’s Day, April fools day, groundhogs day, Chinese New Year, Coming of Age Day, Earth day, summer and winter solstices, Diwali, etc. could be a lot of fun!

- More jobs! I miss being able to work for Brewster and make deliveries for Tom Nook. It could also be fun if villagers payed you a few bells to do things for them, like pick all the weeds around their house or build them a garden or customise something of theirs.

- More Pocket Camp furniture! I get that Nintendo makes money off Pocket Camp furniture and not ACNH furniture, but they could release amiibos that unlock them, like the Sanrio amiibos, and you have to buy them to get the furniture. Please, I just want the cat themed stuff 🥲

- Pete! It’d be so much fun to be able to shoot him down like in Wild World.

- All the mini games! Maybe there could be an island like Kapp’n’s old one where you can compete with friends, or something like the arcade in Animal Forest.

- Crystals! You can dig them up like gyroids and fossils, and get them assessed and donate them.

- The ability to make custom design masks, shoes, jumpsuits, and pants.

- Give Reese the ability to customise clothes! That would kill two birds (Anchovy and Blanche, maybe?) with one stone, as it would allow us to customise clothes and give Reese something to do. Obviously Cyrus would swoon when she does, just like she does for him 💕
