sometimes my dreams really feel like i’m taking a glimpse at a parallel universe. spending days at a time in one where people i know, things i’m fond of, and any surroundings feel all too familiar but there’s a lighter air around everything involved. usually. there's a lot of comfort in their mundanity.
in tonight’s, i had just woken up from a more outlandish dream and found myself awake in a new one that i mistook to be my reality. i was catching up with a friend online, but every little detail and complaint exchanged was so realistic despite our infrequency to talk that much anymore. he kept telling me about animal crossing. specifically new leaf and how its newest update was going to be so fun and worth replaying it for again. it was something seasonal? where you had to go around your town and pick up stray moss and weeds, and take photos of your fav cleaned spot in the town to submit to isabelle. who'd then talk to leif for you to reward you with giant bushy hedge art, and that doubled as extra secret storage containers to place around houses. the game was all sorts of off as my friend sent me photos. where some buildings looked like something outta the sims, and there were a few "cutscenes" that were super reminiscent of the dogz game for the ds, but i scrounged around for my charging cable to try and play acnl again anyway. in-dream, my room was cleaned of any signs of the past few months worth of depression, and i didn't feel weighed down as heavily by mental illness either. i felt younger...happier even.
it felt amazing to have such a lightness come over me, where i could indulge in something so simple with such an earnest and newfound excitement. so much so that i even took to spreading around the info of the new acnl update to forum boards i used to frequent. although.. i accidentally rambled about it on some art thread instead, but the people there took to my mistake so kindly as an opportunity to chime in with their own memories of the game. people posted screenshots of "secrets" they'd discovered, too. in one, someone said they'd come to a sort of deal with their villagers during a winter event, and got in return this giant snow sculpture that came as a result of some collective town effort that they said they had a huge fondness for. the sculpture had giant angel wings, a human head and torso attached to a large slug-like body, and snowy antlers that helped to form what looked like the outline of a halo too. she took up all the space in their game's kitchen and towered up to the ceiling, and the person insisted that her presence helped calm them down even thru photographs of its model. more people in the thread harped on about their own unique experiences that were hard to find info about online after that, but it wasn't talked about in the same breath as a scary game rumor or made up story. everyone involved just sounded grateful to have discovered something that personally touched their hearts so much, and to have a place to talk about it without judgement. people were posting old and recent screenshots to prove their stories if just for that little circle of people. even now the memory of that 3D snow sculpture placed against the window in a blue tiled kitchen, and that little community centered around their own unique stories stemmed from the best ac game, is all enough to put me at ease tonight too.
i think it was only until i brought my 3ds to bed that i woke up in real life, but the little vacation i took felt so nice. i also really want to play those games again..

i experienced a great amount of time in kit's newly released town. i roamed around the town longer than i thought— i was in awe at how everything were just simply beautiful; each corner of the area, the houses and even all of the residents were all well-designed and thought of.
what caught my eyes the most has always been the landscaping; each plant, dropped items etc. were all placed in a way that all colors necessary for what the village is going for to be balanced, making an emphasis on the main theme given. moreover, i love how the players are all unique-looking, especially kiana. her overall look may be simple but it actually makes her character stand out, making her (for me) the most memorable out of all the four.
again, as obvious as it is, the town has a heavily colorful and tropical atmosphere, providing cheerful vibes along with the feeling of relaxation as well. visiting it made me feel wonderful; i would love to come by again sometime and explore once again.
₊˚.༄ it would be very great for you all to visit this town (and also kit's other towns) as it wouldn't disappoint. ♡
