L'aconit
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I finally completed this Monkshood drawing, exactly a year to the day I started it. Better late than never, right? ☠️ Monkshood’s power has been feared and revered since antiquity and it is known as the “Queen of Poisons,” as it is one of the deadliest plants on earth. It is a classic herb of the witch and sacred to Hecate, who grew it in her poison garden located in the pre-Hellenistic kingdom of Colchis. Monkshood’s deep blue-violet color and hood-like shape have garnered it associations with the Virgin Mary as well as Venus. Both in Austria and France, Monkshood has nicknames that translate to “Chariot of Venus.” Lastly, like all poisonous plants, it thrives in the underworld domain of Saturn. 🔹♄ ♀ ♄🔹 #poisonappleprintshop #sketchbook #monkshood #wolfsbane #aconite #aconitum #aconitumnapellus #poisonpath #chariotofvenus #hecate #saturn #poisonousplants #herbwitch #witchesweeds #poisonwitch #veneficium #venefica #veneficia #hecatesgarden #poisongarden #queenofpoisons (at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEsJOjeHwOT/?igshid=4agewxkg7dn7

Aconitum napellus, in flower just in time for Beltane. This is where I got my name, long ago. This grows in our fields. Beautiful, rare, and deadly. I’ve always been drawn to it, and when I chose an online persona, this is where I went.

Monkshood - Aconitum carmichaeli Queen of Poisons “Wolfsbane(monkshood) is an herb of chthonic Mercury and telluric fire, the mysterious dragon energy of Earth itself. It aids in the underworld jour-nev, when one travels deep into the hidden places of the world to return with arcane knowledge. It protects one from spiritual parasites when journeying to realms of shadow, such as the realms of Hel or lotunheim of the Norse tradition. The tiny and numerous seeds of the plant along with its delicate leaves are characteristic of its Mercurian correspondence. The correlation between the axis mundi and the tall stem of this plant is another characteristic of its role as a journeying ally. Of course, the toxic and sinister nature of this plant is Saturnian, speaking to the dark side of Mercury. Its use in battle and as a chemical weapon also give it a Martian association to which Saturn is the higher octave. Just like the poisoned arrow, this plant is useful for magical sendings of spell and spirit, ensuring they reach their target. Using this plant as an addition to hexing formulas is like putting the poison on the head of an already deadly arrow, adding an especially malevolent quality.” - from The Poison Path Herbal - #wolfsbane #monkshood #poisonpath #poisonousplants #aconitum #aconitumnapellus #aconitumcarmichaelii #banefulherbs #witchsgarden #grotesquegarden #gothicgarden #poisonjewelry #darkherbalism https://www.instagram.com/p/Cnj2RDoLgIq/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Fave Fanfic
This is a tough one! Possibly the Eclipse series by AconitumNapellus (https://archiveofourown.org/works/901687/chapters/1743492) where Spock is blinded in an accident on the Enterprise; or Observations by jAnon (https://anon-j-anon.livejournal.com/30674.html?) which is a retelling of the Original Series episodes from AOS Spock's POV; OR First, Best Destiny by OpheliaJ (https://archiveofourown.org/works/20044525/chapters/47467105), a retelling of TOS ultimately resulting in a Generations fix-it. Aconite. Monkshood. Wolfsbane. Queen of Poisons. 🌿 Aconite has been showing up for me everywhere lately and I’ve been learning so much from this amazing plant. She has popped up as a detail in some of my previous works, but she has been communicating with me more directly as of late and the timing finally felt right to give her some undivided attention on the page. So here she is, a first glimpse at the Queen of Poisons illuminated. ✍🏽 #poisonappleprintshop #aconite #aconitum #aconitumnapellus #monkshood #wolfsbane #queenofpoisons #queenofpoison #sketchbook #wip https://www.instagram.com/p/B2EpNY6HfUD/?igshid=1c13gebo3yhsm

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (TV) Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Characters: Illya Kuryakin, Napoleon Solo Additional Tags: Blood Loss, Frostbite, Canada, Escape, Hypothermia, Implied/Referenced Torture Summary:
Napoleon and Illya escape from an enemy instalment, but there's still a long way to go, and it's very cold.
I actually started writing this in response to an Easter prompt by Jjkitty on LiveJournal in 2019, but it didn't feel right for the prompt and I wrote something else instead. This isn't very original or different, but it's a story, at least.

I’m starting to ship Spock/Chapel (they are so cute!) and I was wondering if you have any fics you’d recommend for some who is new to this ship?
Oh my god! Hiiii! 👋
I love my babies and I will be forever sad how despite a lot of the merch that came out in the ‘70s and ‘80s, Chapel is never considered part of the main crew. 😭 I am so glad that there are still people out there that are into Spock/Chapel or at least don’t hate it on principle.
Man, things have changed regarding this ship. Way back before the internet and probably up until the early 2000s, Spock/Chapel was a fairly popular ship. Fanzines were way before my time but they are a treasure trove of old school Spock/Chapel stories before new canon came in. Kista by Jane Land is one of those must read classics. I think it was written in the 1980s. Many say that it really changed their minds about Christine Chapel. There’s a lot of negativity around her character, undeserved, I feel.
You can go through ff.net and Ao3 and exhaust your options there and there will still be a treasure trove of fic on 1001 Trek Tales. A lot of these older stories are being moved to Ao3 but I was like this 😍 when I saw it because there is such a diverse selection there with all different kinds of portrayals. These are a different flavor than what you might find in more modern stories since they’re older but I really like them because all these people loved Star Trek and kept the love going even when there weren’t any new projects on the horizon. My favorite authors are Djinn, T’Kuht, and DebbieB, but really all the authors are top notch though keep in mind, 1001 Trek Tales also serves as a site preserving stories from old fanzines so not every author has Spock/Chapel stories. Also the diversity of Spock/Chapel stories is amazing as well, particularly when it comes to the portrayal of Christine Chapel. Depending on what you like, she can be more passive and sweet or tough and abrasive, it all depends on the author!
I haven’t read much lately and lol, it’s so crazy these stories were new when I first read them but now they’re over ten years old! AconitumNapellus is another amazing author, great skills, her portrayal of Chapel is probably the closest to my own headcanon, the other writer would be the aforementioned DebbieB. I’ve said in another ask that my favorite story is Lifeline by Milareppa because I really love stories where Chapel gets to shine in a professional environment. It’s a story where the action is just as important as the romance/relationship aspect. I love when that happens.
Other stories in my favorites: Bottomless by Rabble Rouser and Plomeek Soup by Ryan2
Happy reading!
